Langst is beautiful. I mean come on, we were robbed of his character development in the original show obviously and all the stories and artwork depicting Lance's inner demons and turmoil??? Mwah, it's beautiful. Bonus points if Keith helps him get through his battles because of course.

Ok so I have a couple fanfic ideas, and if anyone can write them PLEASE DO SO!! And if you know any fics that fit any of these descriptions please send them my way. THANK YOU!!
Ok so these are gonna be for a whole bunch of different fandoms, and when I think of some others, I’ll add them as I go. All plots and ships can be adapted, just a loose idea of what I want to happen. Some I can’t think of characters so that’s up to you.
Song fics:
1. My heart I surrender - I Prevail
Ship: Bakudeku (Boku no Hero Academia)
Plot: Either Bakugo or Deku or even both (doesn’t really matter, fits both, will be referred to by K/D/B) are having crisis over feelings or something happening to the other, and to get over said thing and get back on rhythm, the class does a singing contest/karaoke, starts off alright then K/D/B either choose this song or say they want to sing an original song - could also be a band au. Sprinkle a little bit of angst of childhood memories and badabing badaboom you got a bkdk story.
2. Astronaut - Simple Plan
Main focus: Lance (Voltron)
Ship: I think no ship would be better but if you want a ship, I don’t care who.
Plot: Langst. You know the standard, Lance is ignored, his homesickness, depression and anxieties are bass boosted to the max, and no one notices -if ship is included they are the only exception- and he is reading into things too much. Standard langst, I really don’t care what kind you write. Anyway, on one particularly bad day, Lance is yelled at more because everyone is having a bad day, because Lance decided to take a night off from putting everyone to bed because he wanted to have a day for himself, Lance is feeling especially down, goes into the earth room, or could be singing to child, or to calm himself down, but either way he is singing astronaut by Simple Plan, you can decide if he has a guitar for this, but someone overhears -could be ship or just random person- and realises that ‘Hey, Lance isn’t ok’, and tells the team and they realise they have taken him for granted and so on so forth, end it however you want.
3. Gone too soon - Simple Plan
Ship: Malec (Shadowhunters)
Plot: Alec dies, could be on a mission or from old age, Magnus grieves and plays this to help get over it.
If mission: Jace, Clary, Izzy, Simon, Raphael and whoever else, they all go over to see how Magnus is doing after the funeral, and they walk into him playing it on guitar, while wearing alecs clothes, a slideshow of his memories of Alec and all Alec’s belongings around him, he is singing when he starts to cry and hyperventilate, and everyone rushes over to him to comfort where he just breaks because Fuck this is the hardest goodbye he has ever felt since his mother died.
If Old Age: start off with Alec in hospital or something, him and Magnus laying together in the bed, Magnus wakes up and realises that Alec is gone, fast forward to the funeral, Alec was the last one of that generation to pass, Magnus visits the cemetery whenever he can, one day he takes a guitar, or not, and sings the song he wrote to them all because these people were his family, one he had been looking for for centuries. Finish with Magnus walking away, and the ghosts of the shadowhunters sitting on their gravestones all embracing as they realise that Magnus has finally accepted it and will begin to heal and move on.
Movie Au:
1. The Greatsest Showman
Ship: Literally any ship, I live for Greatest Showman/Circus AU’s - cannot get enough of them, wish there were more for my ships.
2. The Broken Hearts Gallery
Ship: Bakudeku with past Tododeku
Side ships: Kirishido, Ochiida, and Shenki
Plot: I know this movie has literally just been released in cinemas, I saw it today, but on my way home from watching it I was trying to think which ship would it fit with, and that ship is all I could think of. So Deku as Lucy, collects random crap from past relationships, lives with Shinsou and Ochako, Iida basically lives there too -moved in with Uraraka if you want- Deku is dating Todoroki -plays Max. They work in an exhibit together under Aizawa, or someone like that, when on the opening night of an exhibit, Monama -Plays Harvard- tells Deku that Momo has come back and that she and Todo are getting along. Deku gets drunk and has to introduce Todo as director of exhibit, makes a fool of himself, later that night after being dumped by Todo, and fired, he gets into what he thinks is his Uber, but is literally just Bakugo’s (Nick) car. Literally just follow rest of storyline. Marcos: Kirishima, Marcos’ wife: Mina, Chloe: whoever you want as Bakugo’s ex that shows up for a total of like 5 minutes, max.
Love, Simon:
Ship: Doesn’t matter, I want to read one of Bakudeku, or Bokuaka/Kuroken.
Simon: Baku/Akaashi/Kuroo
Blue: Deku/Bokuto/Kenma
Nick: Kami/Kuroo/Yaku
Abby: Shinso/Kenma/Lev
Leah: Kiri/Tsukki (couldn’t think of someone else)/Bokuto
Martin: Monama/Oikawa/Oikawa (can’t think of anyone else)
Cinderella story series:
Ship: Bakudeku, BokuAka, Kuroken
Plot: Any ship can fit the plots, each movie could be the same ship or you could switch it up and have a different ship for each one, for example,
First movie:
Bakugo as Austen, Deku as Sam, Uraraka as Carter, Aizawa or All Might as Rhonda, Hisashi as Fiona, Shigi and Dabi as Breanna and Gabriella.
Second movie:
Akaashi as Mary, Bokuto as Joey, Kuroo as Dustin, Kenma as Tammy, everyone else up to you.
Third movie:
Kenma as Katie, Kuroo as Luke, Hinata as Angela, Bokuto as Mickey, Lev as victor, everyone else up to you.
Tropes and ideas I want to read more of:
1. Cheerleading: Example: Bakudeku
Deku would be a cheerleader, Bakugo would be Football player.
2. Lance’s birthday is forgotten
3. Lance is forgotten when group is deciding something/left out of recreational activities (see @blueplanettrash’s story Three little questions)
4. Anything angsty regarding Lance, but also for any character.
Uhhh, that’s all for now, I’ll add others as I think of them, thank you for reading. And if you want to write any of these please go ahead, adapt them to your style and ships, this is just an idea of fan fiction that I want to read.

Inner Thoughts (Langst)
| Part 2 |
Summary: Lance gains the ability to hear peoples thoughts, only there's no way to shut it off. He's forced to hear everyone's honest feeling all the time, with no reprieve.
A/N: This was originally supposed to be a prompt but then it got really like (5.7k to be exactly) so I turned it into it’s own fic! I worked really hard on it so I hope you guys like it! Feedback is always appreciated <3
Trigger warnings are posted in the tags.
It all started when Lance was on a mission with Hunk, they were scouting a planet to see what lived on it. The planet was mostly some type of jungle. Lance and Hunk were having trouble getting through the thick branches.
“I don’t think anyone lives here” Hunk said, stating the obvious. They had been on the planet for hours now, and there were still no signs of life. Lance pushed a branch out of his way as they continued to trudge forward. He was painfully aware of the sudden drop off next to him, that lead directly into some type of bubbling swamp.
“Yeah, no shit” he replied as he stepped over a tree root. He glanced around and then stopped. “Hunk, I think we should just head back to the ship. There’s obviously no one here” Hunk looked around as well.
“I think you’re right. We can just turn around” Lance hesitated.
“Actually, I think it’s this way” he said, pointing behind him he turned to peer in that direction.
“Lance, watch out!” Hunk called, a moment too late. Lance tripped as he turned around and skidded down the incline, landing face first onto a rock, leaving a crack down the center of his helmet. He felt his body begin to roll down the hill, so he desperately grabbed for anything he could get a hold of, but with no luck. He tumbled down the hill into the bubbling green liquid, disappearing beneath the surface. He flailed his arms as he tried to swim back up to the surface. He couldn’t see anything except green. Water flooded into Lance’s helmet through the crack down the center. Lance gasped for breath. He could hear Hunk’s screaming at him as he sunk deeper and deeper into the liquid. The fowl tasting liquid poured into his mouth, choking him. He tried to scream but couldn’t.
And then everything went black.
~ ~
The next thing he remembered was stumbling out of the healing pod. He fell directly into someone’s arms. His head felt like it was full of cotton, and his ears were ringing. He blinked the blurriness out of his eyes and saw Shiro in front of him.
“Shiro…?” he mumbled groggily. “What happened?” he asked. Lance’s head throbbed as he leaned limply in Shiro’s chest. He groaned. He felt awful. Normally when he got out of the healing pod he felt amazing, but right now he felt like he had been hit by a truck. Lance grabbed Shiro’s shoulders to pull himself back up to his feet.
“…ance?” Shiro’s words were muffled. “…an you hear me?” Lance nodded slowly, growing more nauseous with each passing second.
“Ugh, god” he moaned. “It hurts” he gripped his head, still leaning on Shiro. Shiro looked down at him in concern. He had assumed that Lance would feel better after coming out of the healing pod.
“Do… remember… happened?” Lance’s hearing was fading in and out. Lance shook his head. The last thing he remembered was leaving the castle with Hunk. “-ou fell into some type of swamp” he explained. “Your helmet was damaged in the fall and the water leaked through and filled up your helmet, you inhaled at lot of it”
“How long was I in there?” Lance croaked. The pressure in his head was worsening.
“Six days” he responded. “Are you feeling okay?” Lance thought about it for a moment.
“Uh, my head’s killing me” he admitted.
“You’re body’s probably just tired. Why don’t you get some rest?” Shiro suggested. Lance nodded.
“Yeah” he agreed. “You’re probably right” Shiro patted him on the shoulder, and then Lance headed off to his room. He was almost out the door when he heard a voice.
‘God, I hope he doesn’t slow us down’ Lance paused at those words. It sounded like Shiro. Lance turned to ask what he had said, but Shiro had already left the room. Lance shook his head, thinking he imagined it. Maybe he really was just tired.
~ ~
When he woke up the next morning he realized that this was not the case. His headache had not gone away, in fact, it had worsened. His head throbbed as he got up and dressed for the day. He dragged his tired body down the hall and into the dining room. As soon as he pushed the door open he was bombarded by a swarm of voices.
“Whoa!” he yelped, covering his ears with his hands. The voices didn’t quiet down.
‘God, I’m so sick of this good. I miss waffles. I hope the paladins are prepared for tomorrow, I fear that the mission will be quite difficult. This is my fault. It’s all my fault. He wouldn’t have tripped if I didn’t suggest going back. Hey, there’s Lance! What is he doing? What is Lance doing? Is he okay? Oh god, he really is going to slow us down, isn’t he? This is just another mess I’m going to have to clean up’ the last voice was very obviously Shiro’s. But Lance had no idea where they were all coming from.
“Lance!?” Hunk shouted out loud. Lance was huddled on the floor gripping his skull. “Are you okay? What’s happening?” the voice’s continued to shout at him.
‘What’s happening to him? Is there something wrong with him? Is he doing this for attention. Gees, we get it Lance, you’re back.’ Lance whimpered. Why was this happening? What was happening?
“C’mere” Hunk pulled Lance back up. “What was that? Are you okay?” ‘Oh god is he brain damaged? If he’s brain damaged or something I’m never going to forgive myself.’
“It wasn’t your fault” Lance replied. Hunk looked at him in confusion.
“What?” Lance glanced around and realized that he had answered a question that Hunk hadn’t asked.
“Uh, I mean. I’m fine. It’s just a really bad headache” he shrugged and sat down. ‘A lot of drama for a fucking headache’ Lance whipped his head around, trying to figure out who said that. “What did you say?” he asked sharply. Keith glanced at Shiro and then back at Lance.
“I didn’t say anything” he didn’t have a chance to question him anymore before a plate of food was set down in front of him. He pinched his lips together, and then began eating.
“Other than your headache, are you… feeling okay?” Shiro asked tentatively. ‘He’s acting strange. I wonder how much of this is real and how much is an act’ Lance furrowed his eyebrows.
“I- I’m not faking!” Lance said in exasperation.
“I never said you were” Shiro said with a frown. “Lance are you alright?” ‘What’s his problem?’ Lance looked around the table in bewilderment. The voices grew louder in his head again.
‘Why is everything about Lance? All we ever do is talk about him anymore. Everything is about him and his problems. Lance. Lance. Lance. Lance’
Lance squeezed his eyes shut and tried to force the noise to go away. It wasn’t until he was almost done eating that he realized what was happening.
He was hearing everyone’s thoughts.
But, that was crazy. That was stuff that only happened in comic books. Although, he did fight aliens in space, so maybe mind reading wasn’t that far off.
Lance quickly excused himself from the table and hurried out into the hall. The voices didn’t leave when he walked out of the room. Instead, they rattled around his brain. He didn’t stop moving until he was in his room, where he collapsed against the door.
He was hearing other people’s thoughts. It was an absurd notion, but it was the only thing that Lance could think of. It was the only thing that made sense. There must’ve been something weird about that swamp that he fell into.
He knew where and what everyone was doing the entire day because of their thoughts. Pidge and Hunk were both working on a complex math problem. Keith was training or thinking about how to improve his training. Shiro was having a conversation with Coran. And Allura was thinking of her father.
Lance didn’t mind the voices, he decided later that day, after he had come to terms with it. They were kind of loud, but he thought it was kind of cool that he could hear everyone’s thoughts. It was kind of like he was a superhero. He was like Spiderman when he was bit by the spider, Captain America when he was injected with the serum, the Hulk when his experiment went wrong. In a way he was kind of like a superhero now. He decided that he might as well have a little fun with his newfound superpower.
He decided to test his powers out on Keith first. He knew that he was in the training room. His thoughts grew louder in Lance’s head as he approached the room. He grinned deviously. This was going to be so much fun. He was going to mess with Keith’s head.
‘This is stupid. Why am I even bothering with this?’ Lance paused in the doorway outside the training room. What was Keith talking about? ‘My dad was right. I’m never going to amount to anything. I’m just weighing these guys down. They don’t need me. I shouldn’t even be here. This was a mistake. I shouldn’t be the Red paladin. I don’t deserve it.’ Lance’s smile slipped off his face. Did Keith really think that? Lance pushed the door open and peeked his head in. Keith was sitting on the floor in the middle of the room.
“Keith?” he called. ‘Fuck. Get your shit together. Don’t let him know you’ve been crying.’
“Y- yeah?” Keith cleared his throat. “What do you want?” ‘I’m so weak. Why do I cry so easily?’
“I just… wanted to see what you were up to” Lance said slowly. ‘He probably thinks I’m pathetic. Why won’t he leave?’ “Uh, if you’re busy I’ll leave. Sorry” Keith kept his back to Lance.
“I’m training. I’ll see you later, okay?” he called over his shoulder. ‘I can’t let him see me like this. He’ll make fun of me. He’s always making fun of me.’
“Oh- okay” Lance said quietly. “Sorry to bother you” Lance closed the door behind him with a quiet thud, and then he trudged back to his room feeling upset.
Maybe mind reading wasn’t all that great.
The sound of Keith’s self-deprecating thoughts remained in his brain all night.
~ ~
Throughout the next few days Lance completely erased the idea that his new ability was a good thing. It was not a blessing, or a cool superpower. It was curse. The voices never ceased in his head. He could hear every thought that his friends had, no matter how pointless or absurd. He heard every bad thought that they had about themselves and about others. Lance heard what they really thought about him.
Their thoughts were clouding up his head. He was having trouble concentrating. He was so busy trying to decipher what was actually being said out loud. He had avoided training and being in the same room as the more than one person at a time to keep the noise level down.
The others were starting to notice that there was something wrong with him. He almost never responded to anyone’s question right away. Instead he would stare blankly at the wall for several seconds until they repeated the question. The thought that maybe Lance had attained some type of brain damage from his fall was in the back of all their minds. Which of course meant that Lance heard it.
Lance tried to shut out the voices as best as he could. They were on a mission now. He was about to land his lion. He had time to mentally prepare out here, because the space between him and the other muffled their voices. It was the first few moments of almost silence that he’d had in days. He steeled himself as he landed his lion on the planet. He stepped out and was immediately hit with a sudden wave of voices. It was so overwhelming that he crumpled to the ground screaming.
“Lance? Lance! Did you get hit!?” Pidge screamed. Lance could barely hear her voice. He couldn’t distinguish anyone’s thoughts, they were all jumbled up. He didn’t know where they were coming from.
“N- no” he stuttered out, wincing his pain. “M- my head” Pidge eyed him nervously. She didn’t know if it was okay for him to finish the mission.
“Maybe… you should go back to your lion” she said. “You know, if your head is hurting you that bad—” Lance waved her off, shakily standing to his feet.
“I’m fine. Really” he said. ‘Why does he keep lying? What’s really wrong with him? God, I hope he doesn’t get someone hurt acting like this’ Lance sucked in a breath and then turned and walked away from here. It was best that he wasn’t around the others too much. They obviously didn’t want him around anyway, based on the way they thought about him.
Lance later found out that the onslaught of voices that he heard were coming from the Galra soldiers. They were guarding the prisoners that the paladins had come to rescue. They were currently in the process of trying to fight them, so they could get inside. Lance found that if he concentrated enough he could hear the thoughts of the soldier he was fighting and know what he was planning to do before he even moved. It was very helpful. Unfortunately, there were so many voices in his head that he didn’t always hear the right one.
The voices were like raging storm in his mind. It was chaos. For a while he could barely distinguish one thought from another until—
‘The green one is an easy target. I’ll get her while she’s running. I have a perfect shot’
The thought came through clearly. Lance raised his head and searched for Pidge desperately. He spotted her running across the field toward Hunk and Shiro.
“Pidge!” he screamed to warn her. “Look—” his words were cut off when he felt something sharp pierce his back. He stumbled forward, away from the assailant and then spun around and blasted him with his bayard. Lance blindly groped around his back and felt the handle of a knife buried deep in his right shoulder. He stood there, mouth open in shock. He had been stabbed. He stood there perfectly still as the battle raged on around him.
He didn’t notice it at first, the deafening quietness. There wasn’t a single thought in his mind except his own. He couldn’t hear anyone’s thoughts. His shoulders slumped in relief, which caused him to cry out in pain. It was only them that Hunk noticed Lance.
“Holy shit!” he screeched. He rushed over to Lance who was still standing in the same spot he had been when he had been stabbed. “Oh- oh my god. You’re going to be okay. You’ll be okay” Hunk babbled as he examined the knife in Lance’s back. Lance lifted his gun and shot a soldier over Hunk’s shoulder. Hunk turned around in surprise. “Shit. Thanks.” he mumbled, clearly in shock. He wasn’t even the one who had been stabbed. Lance didn’t even mind the pain. It was preferable over the constant rush of voices in his head. He no longer had to hear his friends most intimate thoughts and secrets.
The only down side was he was starting to sway on his feet.
“Whoa, whoa. I got you” Hunk said, catching Lance as he pitched forward. “Uh, guys? Can I get a little help here?” he asked. Lance closed his eyes. His consciousness was fading fast.
“What happened!?” Lance heard someone else’s voice. He wasn’t sure who it was.
“I- I don’t know! I just found him here like this. I don’t know when it happened—” and then everything went black.
~ ~
He woke up as the pod doors opened up. He was face to face with Shiro. Lance smiled at him. His head didn’t hurt anymore. He felt refreshed.
“Morning” Lance said cheerfully.
“You look like you’re feeling better” Shiro commented. Lance nodded.
“I am. I feel great” Shiro smiled back.
“That’s good!” he said. “I’m glad. I know you’ve been having headaches a lot lately” Lance ducked his head in embarrassment.
“Yeah…” he rubbed the back of his neck. “About that…”
“What is it?” Shiro asked. Lance wasn’t sure he should tell him. It seemed to be gone now, so there was no reason tell him. But still, Lance felt like he needed to tell someone. And if he was going to tell anyone it was going to be Shiro.
“You remember when I fell into that swamp last week?” Lance asked. Shiro nodded.
“Oh yeah, you’ve been in the pod twice this week haven’t you. You really need to try and be more careful, Lance” Lance hunched his shoulders.
“I- I know! But it wasn’t my fault… I just—” he sighed. “Never mind. It doesn’t matter” Shiro stared at him intently and then nodded.
“Okay. But Lance, you know you can talk to me about anything… right?” he told him. Lance sighed.
“I know”
Lance went straight to his room after that. He figured he could use some sleep, and Shiro agreed. He barely laid his head down when he heard it.
‘I don’t know how to deal with him. Maybe I should confront him about it. He’s clearly doing all of this for attention, but why?’
Tears tracking down his face, Lance buried his face in his pillow.
~ ~
It wasn’t until a few days later that Lance couldn’t take it anymore. The voices were driving him crazy. At first, he thought it was cool that he could hear what everyone really thought about things, but now it was getting scary. He never wanted to know that Shiro struggled PTSD and sometimes roamed the halls all night long to calm himself down, or that Keith’s father had been abusive. He didn’t want to know that Hunk was secretly terrified whenever anyone raised their voice because his family used to yell at him a lot, or that Pidge cried every night because she thought that her family was dead.
Lance heard their pain and carried it with him. He didn’t ask to know these things. If he was going to learn about them he wanted to hear it from his friends, when they were ready. Not when their thoughts were being projected into Lance’s mind. It felt like he was intruding on their personal lives. He felt horrible about it. And that was why he had to tell everyone about it. The coolness of his newfound ‘superpower’ had long since faded. He was sick of it. And he was sick of dealing with it alone.
He waited until everyone was gathered for dinner, and then stood at the head of the table. “Guys…” he said quietly. No one heard him. He cleared his throat and repeated himself. “Hey, guys” Six pairs of eyes turned to stare at Lance. He tugged on the jacket of his sleeve nervously. He tried to ignore the annoyed thoughts from someone that he had interrupted dinner, or the internal eye roll from another who was dreading another ‘Lance’ bit. His heart sank, but he held himself up as he waited for them to quiet down. “I have to tell you guys something”
“What is it, Lance?” Shiro asked. Lance tried to ignore the dread in his tone. It stung more than he would ever admit.
“I… okay. So, you know how I’ve been weird lately?” he asked. Everyone nodded. “And I’ve been getting headaches a lot” They nodded again. “It’s been happening ever since I went on that mission with Hunk. But there’s something else that I haven’t told you guys…” Shiro leaned forward in his seat, looking concerned. “Ever since I came out of the healing pod that time I’ve been- I’ve been hearing other people’s thoughts” Everyone groaned at his words. Lance’s flushed in embarrassment.
“Lance,” Shiro said with a tired sigh.
“Wait, let me finish!” Lance said quickly. “I’m serious. This isn’t a joke. I’ve been hearing everyone’s thoughts in my head” he was trying to ignore the hateful words they were saying about him right now. “I hear all of your thoughts in my head all the time—” Shiro got a look on his face that Lance couldn’t read.
“Lance… you’re hearing voices?” Shiro asked. ‘Oh god. What if he really is brain damaged? What if the healing pods aren’t fixing it? Maybe we should get him to a real doctor to check him out. But he still might be joking… I’m never sure.’ Lance whined desperately.
“No! Well, yes, but not like that! It’s your voices. Your thoughts” he needed them to understand. ‘He’s got to be completely crazy if he thinks were going to believe this’ That came from Pidge. “Pidge come on! I’m not lying I swear!” she glanced away.
“I’ve fallen for your crap one to many times, Lance” she said with her head down. Lance turned to Hunk.
“Buddy?” he knew what Hunk was going to say before he even opened his mouth. ‘Why does he always think that I’m going to side with him just because we’re friends? I don’t have to go along with all his stupid jokes’ Lance stared at him in dismay. Out of everyone, Hunk’s thoughts hurt the most.
“I- I don’t know, man” he said slowly, scratching the back of his neck. “This might be a little far, even for you”
“Keith… you believe me… right?” Lance asked pleadingly. Keith glanced around the room at the other.
“I- uh, wh- I don’t… I mean—” he stuttered. ‘Why is he asking me? We’re not even friends. Why does he care what I think? How can I tell him no without pissing him off? God, if he’s crazy what if he hurts someone? Or himself? Are we safe?’ Lance’s heart stopped in his chest. Keith was… scared of him?
“You know what, never mind” he said sadly. He crossed his arms.
“Lance, I think we need to talk about this” Shiro called as Lance turned to walk out the door. He moved in front of him and blocked his path. “I think you need to—” ‘How do I tell him he has to see a doctor without it sounding like I’m forcing him?’
“I’m not crazy!” Lance shouted. Shiro looked surprised. “I don’t need to see any doctor or anything! You’re all right. I was joking. I’m sorry, I thought it would be funny, or whatever” he pushed past Shiro and walked out of the room. Everyone’s honest thoughts of Lance following him.
He never knew that they thought so little of him.
~ ~
He kept his thoughts to himself after that. He never brought it up again, and neither did anyone else. They thought about it every time he walked into the room though. He spent most of his time alone now. Being away from people helped quiet their thoughts, though not a lot.
The voice had been growing progressively louder and louder in his mind. He gripped his hair and tugged. Sometimes their thoughts were so loud that he couldn’t even hear his own thoughts. He hadn’t been going to meals because sitting in a room with them all was unbearable these days. He opted for midnight snacks, although he sometimes had to skip those because Keith would be in the kitchen at that time. He barely slept anymore. It was only when he passed out from exhaustion that he got a small reprieve from the never-ending roar of voices in his head.
He was cursed to hear his friend’s personal inner thoughts and opinions of him for the rest of his life. He wasn’t sure how much more of this he could take. He didn’t know what he could do to make it stop. Nothing seemed to help. Music didn’t drown it out, training extensively didn’t quiet the voices, not even screaming helped. Lance banged his head against the wall in a last-ditch attempt to get the voices to quiet. Even the throbbing in his head didn’t lessen the noise.
Suddenly a sick thought popped into his mind. He realized that the only time that the noise had ever stopped was when he had been injured during their last mission. The minute he was stabbed the voices faded. He lifted his head from the wall at the thought.
He couldn’t do that to himself… could he?
But then he remembered all the horrible things that his friends had said about him in his mind. They thought that he was crazy, or that he was joking. None of them took him seriously. And he knew that they all dreaded it when he walked into a room. He wondered how long they had thought that about him. Was it just a recent thing, or had they always thought that about him? Lance wasn’t sure, but he knew that he couldn’t take it anymore. He would do anything for even a few minutes of silence.
It was late already, so Lance crept through the castle quietly, praying that everyone was asleep. There was only one place that he was guaranteed to find what he was looking for. Because it was this late he knew that he wouldn’t be there. He only hesitated for a moment before he snuck into his room.
Keith’s room.
He found what he was looking for. It was on top of his dresser, the same place he always kept it. Lance wrapped his hand around the knife and hid it in the waistband of his jeans before sneaking back out of the room. Keith’s knife was the only one sharp enough that Lance could find. The practice swords were dull so that they didn’t hurt themselves, and he couldn’t take one from the kitchen because Keith was in there. Lance could hear his thoughts loudly as he walked past the door. ‘This is stupid. I should be sleeping. He’s billions of miles away and he’s still affecting me.’ Lance clenched his fists. Soon he wouldn’t have to hear these things. Soon he wouldn’t be intruding on other people’s thoughts.
Lance snuck back into his room and climbed into his shower. He didn’t want anyone to have to clean up his mess. He stood there in the shower taking in the seriousness of this situation. Was he really going to do this? Did he really want to go thought with this?
Then he thought back to what Keith had thought about him the day Lance told them the truth. He was scared of him. They thought he was broken, that he was crazy. In a way they were all right.
He was broken.
Without hesitating he plunged the knife into his gut with a sickening squish. He gasped as the pain radiated through his whole body. He stared down at the knife protruding from his body in shock. He hadn’t actually thought he would go through with it. He staggered backwards and dropped to the floor. The pain was unbearable. He hadn’t expected it to feel like this. But…
The voices were gone.
He could hear himself think.
The overwhelming feeling of everyone’s thoughts bombarding his head had completely disappeared.
He was free.
He slumped back against the wall behind him in relief, a smile creeping on his face.
For the first time in weeks he was totally and completely alone with his thoughts.
~ ~
He didn’t know how long he laid there in his shower, watching his blood slowly drip onto the tile floor and side down the drain. It was kind of mesmerizing. He knew that if he pulled the knife out he would bleed out and die. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to die yet. He hadn’t deiced. He did know that he didn’t want to live this way anymore, and if someone put him in the pod everything would go back to the way it was before.
He didn’t want that.
He heard footsteps approaching him, and for the first time in months Lance had no idea who it was. He smiled to himself, ignoring the blood that was bubbling up his throat.
“Hey, Lance” Keith whispered as the door slid open. Keith couldn’t see him from where he was standing. “Uh, are you in here? I was just going to ask you if you knew where my knife was. I can’t find it” he turned and peeked his head into Lance’s bathroom, spotting Lance sitting on the shower floor, his knife buried in Lance’s stomach. “Lance!” Keith gasped as processed what he was seeing. Lance’s was hunched against the wall, blood pooling all around him as he cradled the knife still in his skin. “Oh my god, what happened!” Keith said in panic as he sprinted across the space between them. Lance lifted his head to Keith and smiled. His mouth was filled with blood. It began to run down his chin.
“I don’t hear them anymore” he whispered. Keith looked at him in horror.
“What!?”
“The voices” Lance explained. His breathing had become labored. He was struggling to stay awake now. “Your thoughts. I don’t hear them anymore” he said in relief. He leaned his head back against the wall.
“Wh- you—” Keith’s eyes widened in realization. “You did this to yourself?” he asked. Lance grinned again. Keith felt sick. Lance’s pain had grown so much that he had stabbed himself to make it go away? “Oh… god” he breathed. “I- I have to get you to the healing pod. Now” Keith said frantically. Moving Lance was probably going to make it worse, but he had no choice. Lance was losing consciousness already. Keith bent down and carefully scooped Lance up in his arms. Lance weakly fought against Keith’s grip. He was too far gone to really stop him.
“No,” Lance mumbled quietly, rolling his head over on Keith’s chest. “Put me down” he whimpered pathetically. “Don’t put me in there. I don’t want to” he knew that as soon as he was out of the pod the voices would be back. He couldn’t take it anymore. He was done fighting it.
“Lance, what happened to you?” Keith was walking down the hall as quickly as he could without jostling Lance too much. Lance hummed quietly and laid his head down, unable to hold it up anymore.
“Don’t worry, Keith” he said weakly. “Don’t think about what your dad said to you. I think you’re strong. You’re enough” Keith frowned. Why would he say that…?
“What are you talking about?”
“Your father. You think about him a lot. He’s not here. He can’t hurt you. You’re strong, Keith” Lance was beginning to ramble now. His mind was slipping.
“How- How do you know about that?” Keith asked, his voice raising.
“I’m tired” Lance said instead of responding. A bolt of fear ran through Keith.
“Don’t fall asleep” Keith instructed. “Do you hear me? Don’t go to sleep. Stay with me. Okay?” Lance didn’t respond. Keith’s heart sunk in his chest. “Lance?” he quickened his pace. He was almost to the healing pod. Just a few more steps…
When he was standing directly outside the pod he looked down at Lance. “You’re going to be okay” he mumbled as he laid him down on the floor. “You’re going- This is going to hurt, I’m sorry” he wrapped his fingers around the knife and closed his eyes as he pulled it out of his friend’s body. He tried to ignore the blood dripping off the knife as he threw it to the floor. He lifted Lance back up into his arms and gently propped him up in the healing pod. “You’re… going to be okay” he closed the door and quickly turned to the controls. He had seen Coran do it several times, so he knew how to work it. He clicked the button to turn it on and waited for it to scan Lance’s body before he selected the recommended healing process.
NO SIGNS OF LIFE
Keith stared at the words flashing across the screen blankly. He slammed his hand against the button again. It scanned for a few more seconds and then—
NO SIGNS OF LIFE
Keith watched the words scroll across the screen numbly. He hit the button again. And then again. And again. Over and over he punched the button, only for it to read the same message.
He didn’t want to believe that Lance was gone.
He couldn’t believe that he was too late.
He stared at Lance’s limp body leaning against the door of the healing pod. He felt dazed. Without another thought he turned and walked out of the room. He walked straight to the Shiro’s room and walked in without knocking.
Shiro was sitting on the edge of his bed with a book in his hand.
“Hey Kei—” he stopped abruptly when he noticed that Keith was covered in blood. “Oh my god. What happened!?” Shiro shouted, jumping up to assess his injuries. Keith rubbed his arm, staring wide eyed at the floor.
“It’s not mine” he said softly. Shiro continued to look him over, until he was sure that it was not, in fact, Keith’s blood.
“Then who- whose is it!?”
“We messed up, Shiro” Keith choked out. Tears were falling down his face, but he made no move to wipe them off. “We really messed up”
“Keith, you have to calm down” Shiro instructed. He motioned for Keith to take a deep breath with him. Keith tried his best, but he could barely manage a shaky breath. “Whose blood is it?” Keith’s whole body was shaking.
“He- he told us. He told us something was wrong” Keith stuttered out instead of answering his question. “He told us that there was something wrong. We should’ve know. We should’ve listened to him…” he trailed off.
“Wh- Keith—” Shiro said in exasperation. “Wait… do you mean Lance?” Keith nodded numbly. “Where is? Keith, tell me where he is!” Keith stared at the floor.
“Healing pod” he mumbled. Shiro sprinted off. Keith knew it was pointless. It was too late. Lance was already gone. What would have happened if they listened to Lance? If the believed him when he told them what was wrong with him. What would have happened? Would he still be alive?
Keith didn’t know. But he did know that this was all their faults. They could have prevented this. If only they had believed him.

Langst Mini Fic #12: Death Touch (Prompt E / Part 1)
A/N: I got writer’s block so sorry for the shortness of this one. This is like...a prologue for this prompt so there will be more.
b-chan said: So i have this idea where lance has this god like ability that kills any living thing by touching with his bare hands. He didn't know that he could do this and always thought it was just bad luck (the deeper he loved the faster the death was) until he touched his first love. After that whenever someone says jokingly 'die' he gets really pissed and angry. Because of this he tries to stay happy all the time and cherishes all lives. And when one of the paladins almost touched his bare hand he cried
When Lance was just a kid he thought that everything was just a coincidence. Of course he would just think that everything was just a coincidence caused he was just a kid and didn’t think too much about the things going around him.
It started when he was playing in the garden of his Abuela. He liked touching the flowers around it and sometimes he picked some he found really pretty. A month later, the whole garden was full of wilting plants. His Abuela told him that it was fine. The soil might be lacking some nutrients that was why the flowers died, that was the reason given to little Lance. When he was ten years old their family got a puppy. It was a gift from the oldest brother of Lance to him and the pup was immediately engulfed with joy, care and love by the youngest member of the family. But… three weeks later, the puppy died due to sickness that the veterinaries could not figure out how to heal.
When he was 13, Lance’s first friend from their local school died due to an accident, falling down the stairs. It was two weeks after he made a pinky promise with that kid.
Things turned to light (or dark) when Lance reached the age of 16. He finally confessed to his first love and they agreed to go on a date with him. He was so happy to hear this and it seemed his date was happy too after they hanged out for the rest of the day. A week later though…he attended the funeral of his first love. It was a hit and run.
That day, Lance was left alone staring at the grave under the pouring rain. There was no way that this was just a coincidence anymore, he thought. The rational part of him was telling him that it was whoever was driving the car that hit them was at fault in this whole scenario but the other irrational part of him was telling him that these things kept happening to him ever since he was a kid. That everything he touched died after some time passed. It was too much for a coincidence.
“Oooohhh…you finally made your first human kill~”
Lance was startled hearing a voice in a cemetery where he was the only person standing at the moment in the middle of the rain. Turning around as fast as he could he saw a hooded figure sitting on top of one of the gravestones directly behind him. The hood was creating a shadow making Lance to only see the menacing grin given to him by the present company.
“Who…?”
“Who am I?” if possible, the grin only became wider. Lance never thought pearly white teeth could be scary.
“Let’s just say…I am a debt collector right now.”
“…what?”
“Ask your Mom~ Ask your Mom~” and just like in the movies, a strong wind made Lance to cover his face only to find himself alone again after the weird conversation.
His Mom explained it to him, while crying her heart out that moment, when he told her that he had met a creepy hooded person while he was in the cemetery. The story was, there was a time when his Dad got so sick and it so happened they did not have the money for the needed treatment. She was on the deep end and she could not live alone in misery, she could not live alone without her husband. In that moment of weakness…a dark entity appeared before her and offered their help, a business contract as what the being told her that time. They told her that the payment would be collected in the distance future. Then she had children and she thought the supposed business contract was just all a dream. A hallucination her despaired mind created that time. But hearing her youngest now…she realized…it was not a dream at all.
“So~ how did it go?” Lance was staring at the unwanted figure dangling upside down in the middle of his room. If they were imitating spiderman right now then Lance was not amused at all.
“Ooooohhh…look at your eyes~ are you dead inside? Or are you dying inside?” the figure had a delighted grin again that Lance was tempted to wipe off their face.
“Don’t worry, I will not let your life be that miserable. Where the fun will be in that?”
“What do you want from me? You said you are a debt collector. Are you after my life?”
“Your life? No, no, no, no~ This is a game~”
And Lance unwillingly joined the said game. A year later, he would find its usefulness during the war against the Galra empire.
Rule 1: No one would believe Lance that brings death just by his touch. It would be no used warning someone.
Rule 2: Anyone related to Lance flesh and blood would be immune to his ability.
Rule 3: His touch will get stronger as he grow older.
Rule 4: The gloves given to him by the debt collector would prevent him from killing someone accidentally but also it was one of a kind so Lance better not lost it.
(End of Part 1)

hypnotized - klance oneshot
k so this is my first fic for the vld fandom and its a mostly fluffy, little langst, klance oneshot. i hope u like it :3
on ao3
“Lance! No!” Lance faintly heard Keith scream as he threw himself in front of Keith and his lion in attempt to block the blow they were about to take. The blast hit him like a hurricane, whirling Blue and him around and around until he was far away from the rest of the team. He could hear the others shouting his name, Keith loudest, but he couldn’t get any words out.
At least Keith’s okay.
During the time Lance was spinning around, he had been thrown out of his seat, hitting the top his lion. Now, he was lying on the floor, a throbbing pain in his side, and the feeling of a hot and dark liquid surrounded him.
The last thing he remembered before blacking out was seeing Keith’s sparkling eyes in his mind – or was it real? – and hearing his friends calling his name one last time.
Lance? Lance!
Was it someone calling him? Or was he still in the dream state he seemed to be stuck in? Lance tried moving his arms, but they didn’t work. In fact, no other part of his body seemed to work. Was he still in his lion after the crash?
He tried opening his eyes, and through the slits he saw a tall figure with black and white hair, mouth moving with words Lance couldn’t hear. Next to Shiro stood Hunk and Pidge, with Allura and Coran behind them. Each of them looked equally worried, and Lance realized with a start that it was him they were worried about. His eyes whipped around the room as far as they would go without needing to turn his head, and he didn’t know what he was looking for until he found it. Keith. He had his head slightly turned away from him. He was wringing his fingers around his wrists, and his leg jiggled from – what was it? Nervousness? Why would he be nervous? Keith was the reason Lance was in the healing pod – if that was where he was, that is. He vaguely recalled what had happened. A blast, some spinning, and lots of yelling, but the details he couldn’t remember. Lance was pretty sure it was Keith he was trying to save, but he didn’t know why.
Before he could dwell on his thoughts any longer, something in front of him gave way and he was falling through the air, waiting to feel the hit of the cold ground.
But it didn’t come. Instead of a hard surface, he was in warm arms cradling him. Hunk lifted him up carefully, saying something like ‘I’m so glad you’re okay, Lance.’ Pidge hugged him too, scolding him for making such a rash decision. Shiro placed a hand on Lance’s shoulder in a comforting manner.
“Pidge is right, Lance,” he said, and Lance looked up to his face. “You shouldn’t just jump in front of someone.” Allura came from behind Shiro and nodded,
“I understand you were scared for your fellow paladin, but you must understand the danger you put yourself in. You’re lucky you survived.” She said the last phrase softly.
“Hey, I’m fine now, aren’t I?” Lance tried to lighten the mood, but all he got was a tight smile from Allura, a frown still shadowed in her eyes. “What? Am I not okay?”
“You are now, Lance, but you weren’t before,” replied Coran, his usually cheery aroma gone. “I don’t think you understand how serious the situation was.”
“How serious was the situation, then?” Lance asked, frustrated that none of them were giving him a straight answer.
“You were in the healing pod for over a week, Lance. That’s not normal. You lost a lot of blood, since part of your lion was embedded into your side,” Shiro explained, and Lance winced at the thought. “You were in critical condition when Keith took you to his lion.”
At the mention of Keith, Lance turned his head in his direction, seeing that he was looking his way now, the common scowl on his face switched with a soft expression and upturned brows. When they made eye contact, Keith turned away again, the familiar frown returning to his face.
Lance returned his gaze to the rest of them, mumbling an apology. But in truth, he wasn’t sorry. He would do it all again if he had to, to save Keith.
“You were about to die, Lance. Don’t joke about it.” Lance whipped his head in time to see Keith storming out of the room after his sudden outburst.
Shiro called out to him but got no reply, and as Lance began to walk out after Keith, Allura held him back.
“I’m sorry, Lance, but we’ve got to double check on your vitals, and it is very important that you get your rest.” Lance groaned at that, and Hunk gave a comforting pat on his shoulder. He would have to talk with Keith later.
“Keith, are you in there?” Lance called through Keith’s shut door, knocking softly. “Please, Keith. I just want to talk.”
He heard a soft groan before the door opened, revealing a messy haired Keith behind it. Lance felt a blush creeping up his face.
How could he look so cute?
Lance cleared his throat, and forced a smile. “Did you have a nice nap?”
Keith scowled at him, but let him in. Lance resisted the urge to ruffle his friend’s dark mullet.
“Are you mad at me?” Lance asked, his forced smile falling of his face, fiddling with the worn ends of his dark green jacket. He looked up at Keith through his eyelashes, nervous to make eye contact.
Keith kept the scowl on his face, and turned away from Lance, not saying anything. When it was clear he wasn’t budging, Keith sighed.
“I- I mean. I’m not mad. You just…scared me. A lot. Scared all of us.” He ran a shaking hand through his dark hair, still not looking at Lance. In a much quieter voice, he added, “We didn’t know for sure if you’d make it. You almost died, Lance. I- I don’t think you understand how important you are to the team. Without you, we fell apart. You’re the glue that keeps us all together. Thank god we didn’t get an attack from the Galrans; we wouldn’t have survived.”
Lance was speechless. His mouth was slightly open, eyebrows upturned, intently looking at Keith as he spoke. Never before had anyone said something so honest, so open, and he least of all expected it from Keith. His heart ached seeing him like this, broken, trying to stop the tears from falling down his lightly freckled cheeks. Lance hadn’t notice them before – they looked adorable. He mentally slapped himself. He was supposed to be comforting his fellow paladin, not thinking about how freaking cute he was. He scowled at himself, feeling heat creep up his neck and face. Carefully, he put an arm around Keith, pulling him close as soft sobs escaped him, hoping the motion wasn’t awkward.
Luckily, instead of pulling back Keith moved closer, burying his face in Lance’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry. I should be the one comforting you, not the other way around,” he said between sobs and hiccups.
“Nonsense. When would I ever pass up a chance to cuddle?” The words were out of Lance’s mouth before he even thought about them, and it was too late to take them back. His hand suddenly stopped rubbing Keith’s back, the realization of what he had said dawning on him. If possible, his face reddened even more, and he was sure Keith’s bed was covered in his sweat.
Keith’s sobs also ceased, and he pulled back a little to look at Lance. He had a look of shock on his face,
“Did you just flirt with me?”
“No-nope! What are you talking about? I always cuddle my friends. Yup. Just-just ask Hunk! He’ll tell you just that, y’know. I’m the cuddly type. With friends. Yeah.” Lance babbled at him, trying not to bury his face into the pillow on Keith’s bed and scream for eternity. His next thought was how that pillow would smell like Keith, but he immediately dismissed the thought.
Keith smirked softly at him, wiping the tears off his face with the hem of his shirt. When he did that, Lance spotted part of his toned abs peeking through the exposed skin, and made him want to wrap his arms around him. He coughed loudly and suddenly, startling Keith and turning his smirk into a worried frown.
“Are you okay?”
Lance nodded quickly. His face was probably as red as the ripest tomato, and he cringed at himself.
“I’m fine, sorry,” he said, trying to recover quickly, which clearly didn’t work since Keith raised an eyebrow at him. Luckily, he dropped the subject, but they ended up in an awkward silence.
After an agonizing three minutes, Keith turned to Lance and spoke so softly he almost didn’t hear him over the incredibly loud beating of his heart.
“Just, Lance, please don’t do that.” His voice sounded so broken that Lance couldn’t help but pull him into a tight hug. Keith seemed startled at first, but he relaxed a bit and hugged Lance back.
He’s so warm, Lance thought, more heat rushing into his cheeks. In an even quieter voice, Keith whispered,
“I don’t want to lose you.”
Lance swore he had a heart attack. His breath hitched in his throat, and all his mind seemed able to do was bury his head in the crook of Keith’s neck.
“You know, if I hadn’t done what I did, I might have lost you.”
This time, it was Keith’s turn to freeze up.
“You can’t just say things like that,” he mumbled, his face turning red. Lance, feeling satisfied with flustering Keith, decided that he wanted to see Keith blushing more often.
They stayed like that a bit, until Lance felt Keith’s breathing even out, and let him lie down on his bed. He stayed for a bit, watching Keith drift into a peaceful sleep, when he caught himself. He quickly got up and left Keith on his own, his face almost as red as before.
God, he was so fucked.
The next few days, or what were considered days in Altean time, passed with Lance trying not to confess his feelings every time he saw Keith, usually ending in a blushing mess. The others must have noticed something strange, because they constantly asked him if he was okay, or if anything had happened between him and Keith. He dismissed them, only hoping that Keith also didn’t notice him acting strange.
However, a few days after his discovery of his crush, Pidge and Hunk decided they had had enough. After another one of his flustered sessions, Pidge, saying nothing, grabbed him by the elbow and led them to the common room, empty except for them.
They sat him down, glaring daggers at him.
“Do you, perhaps, have anything to tell us?” Pidge asked, taking a seat beside him.
“Uh… I’m guessing you won’t believe me if I say no?”
Hunk crossed his arms, sitting down on his other side. “No, we won’t. Now, will you please tell us what the heck is going on with you and Keith?”
“Um. Well, you see, I’m pretty sure there’s not anything wrong with him, but…”
“But…?” Pidge urged him to go on.
“But, I think I might maybe, just maybe, like him?” Lance’s voice squeaked at the end, and Hunk looked at him patiently, a faint smile on his face.
Lance sighed, he wasn’t going to get out of this. “I have a horrible, terrible, awful, gigantic crush on Keith. Happy now?”
Pidge grinned widely, pumping a fist in the air, “Ha! I was right! Shiro, you owe me five bucks!”
Confused, Lance whipped his head back and forth, “But Shiro’s not here?”
“Sorry kid, but it was Pidge’s idea,” said a manly voice from behind, and Lance knew it was unmistakably Shiro. He turned his head to look, and beside Shiro stood a sweetly smiling Allura.
“You-you guys! You can’t eavesdrop like that!” Lance pouted, throwing his hands up.
“Hey, it was taking a while for you to admit, and we needed confirmation. Shiro, hand over the money.” Pidge put her hand out, other hand on her hip.
“Wh-you guys bet on me too?! That-that is unacceptable! I thought we were friends!”
“Hey, I said you were just acting weird because of your injuries, and Keith’s initial reaction,” said sweet, innocent Hunk.
“As did I,” added Shiro, and Lance sighed,
“Glad to know I have some good friends,” he said, glaring at Pidge, who stuck her tongue out.
“Shut up, you love me.”
“I wish I didn’t.”
“Well,” Allura interrupted, “when are you telling Keith about your feelings for him?”
“Who said I was telling him anything?” Lance cried, still pouting.
“Lance, I’m pretty sure he feels the same way about you. So, I definitely support the idea of you confessing.” Shiro said, putting on his Dad Voice.
“I agree. Have you even seen him around you? He gets almost as flustered as you.” Hunk added.
Lance rolled his eyes, “Yeah right. The dude hates my guts.” Except for that night.
“Uh, no. You should’ve seen him when you were in the pod. He didn’t budge from in front of you for the first three days! We had to remind him to eat – he almost died of starvation,” Pidge pointed out.
“Yes, and he was pretty reluctant to leave too,” Allura said, patting his shoulder. Lance covered his face with his hands, blushing profusely.
“But what if you guys are wrong? What if he does hate my guts? What would I do next?”
“You will tell him, or we will do it for you,” Pidge deadpanned.
Lance groaned, leaning against Hunk. “Fiiiine. But if he doesn’t like me back, you are all dead. R.I.P Space Dad and Mom. Next to them, Hunk and Pidge, almost too young to die. Almost. Death at the hand of Lance for incredibly bad advice.”
“Don’t be dramatic, Lance,” Allura said, a smile adorning her gorgeous face.
“I am the definition of dramatic,” Lance shot back, smirking.
“We know, Lance, we know,” Hunk sighed, pushing Lance to his feet. “Now go get your boyfriend!” Lance glared at all of them, spending an excessive amount on Pidge, but obediently obliged.
Lance put his fingers to his temples, rubbing circles. Why had he agreed to this? His original question still stood – what if Keith didn’t like him back? The others said he did, that it was almost as obvious as him, and Lance knew he should trust them, but he couldn’t seem to let the worries go.
He should have been looking where he was walking, but Lance, clumsy Lance, ran straight into something. Actually, more like someone. Someone, more like Keith. Just his luck.
“Oh! Sorry, I didn’t see you there,” Keith said, clearly startled.
“Sorry, that was my fault.” As Keith started to walk away, Lance gathered his courage and reached out for him. Keith looked back, surprised, when Lance had grabbed his sleeve. Lance’s cheeks reddened, and he loosened his grip.
“Actually, I-I was looking for you,” he took a deep breath, preparing himself for the possible rejection as Keith waited patiently, watching him with curious eyes. “You see, I was talking to the others, and I know this is a stupid idea but they encouraged me a lot and so I’ve decided to go with it. And I’m sorry if it sounds really stupid but-”
“Lance, what is it?”
He sighed, almost curling in on himself. In a soft and quiet voice, he confessed. “I-I really like you Keith. Like, I like you. And I don’t know if you feel the same way, because to me, it seems like you kinda hate me? But the others said I should tell you and see what you feel and oh god Keith please say something.” Keith’s face was perfectly still, his perfect lips that Lance wanted to pull onto his own so badly parted slightly, and his arm limp in Lance’s grip. “Keith?”
That seemed to shake him out of his stupor, and his violet eyes flicked between Lance’s eyes and lips. One moment Lance was ready for rejection, and the next Keith was pulling him in, his lips on his own. It was fireworks and stars and the whole universe was pulling them together and Keith was kissing him. Before Lance could kiss him back, Keith pulled back, a dazed smile on his face.
“Of course I like you back, you oblivious idiot.”
Lance let himself smile, and soon it turned into a grin, a soft chuckle escaping him before he could stop it. He leaned back in, cupping Keith’s face in his hand, and Keith reached up, brushing his hands through Lance’s hair, and they kissed again, stronger this time.
They breathed each other in until they were gasping for air, soft smiles adorning their faces and bright red flushes across their faces.
“So,” Lance smirked, “you really did enjoy my cuddling.”
A scandalized look crossed Keith’s face, “Oh, shut up,” he said, but a blush crept onto his face and neck.
“You know you love me.”
Keith’s reaction wasn’t what Lance expected, because instead of him rolling his eyes, he smiled, “Yeah, I guess I do.”
Lance’s face burned up, a sputtering mess, “Wh-bu-you can’t just say things like that, Keith!” Keith just grinned and pulled him back into a kiss, shutting Lance up, and they sank into it, Lance wishing he could stay like this forever.

Voltron Rec List
Note: I also have a fic rec page where you can find all of these fics as well (|x|), and all of these on this list will be Klance (EXCEPT #4: GAP YEAR).
COMPLETED FICS (more and uncompleted fics under the cut)
1. What We Make of it by: Wittyy-name
rating: Mature
chapters: 1
words: 46,327
description: Keith has been training for this for months. So despite feeling like everything else in his life is falling apart and could be summed up with a big, blaring question mark, he finds himself halfway across the world with Shiro and Allura, preparing for his first ironman triathlon. He was expecting some typical touristy activities and a grueling day of physical activity. What he wasn't expecting was to meet a gorgeous boy with bright blue eyes and a smile that made his insides squirm. Lance has been in a rut, unable to find the happiness that once filled his life. Everything looks gray, and he feels suffocated. And that's how he finds himself halfway across the world, backpacking across a foreign country with his best friend, Hunk, and their new friend, Pidge. That is, until they run out of money and decide to get a job. He's having fun, and colors are leaking past the dam and back into his life. What he wasn't expecting was to meet a beautiful boy with dark eyes and a shy smile that broke those flood gates wide open
review: Oh my God, Wittyy did it again. Honestly, since finding her work, I've been in love. I plan of reading all of her storys (that pertain to my fandoms- which is just Voltron right now) at some point in time because the writing is just beautiful. What We Make of it is another example of how the Voltron fandom has amazing writers that are capable of converting me from 200,000 word, extremely thought out fics to oneshots and have me like them in the same way. It's pretty long for a oneshot but it's worth it. It's really good (and it's based on her trip to New Zeland so even better).
2. Never Saw You Coming by: dimpleforyourthoughts
rating: Mature
chapters: 1
words: 47,873
description: Three months in space on his own would have been fine. Three months in space with Lance McClain is a whole other fucking story
review: HOLY SHIT oh my God this is one of the best fics I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I thought her other one was great but this one just blew everything else out of the water. Keith is an ass but I still love him and it works so well (because it is in his pov). Ugh it is so so good please read it becasue it deserves to be recognized and appreciated more- honestly I dont know how it isnt more popular. Definitely one of my top favorite fanfics I have ever read!
3. Nothing Quite as Sweet by: dimpleforyourthoughts
rating: Teen & Up
chapters: 1
words: 50,370
description: Keith is a barista who hates his job. Lance works at the cat shelter across the street.
review: So due to my recent lack of fanfiction to read, I spent the entire morning looking at rec lists trying to find on worthy of reading and I had seen this one on a couple and saw that though it was a oneshot that it was in fact longer than Wittyy's WMMOI and thought "Why not give it a shot". So I did and then spent the rest of my afternoon reading it and holy shit was it good. Honestly, I'm so happy i read this because like words just can't descrive how I feel about it. I'm usually not a big fan of cats and stuff but the way they are used in here just get me and Im also not huge on coffee shop aus but this one is just way too good. read it. READ IT. Its so worth an entire afternoon.
4. Don’t Forget to Remember Me by: CamelotQueen
rating: General
chapters: 1
words: 4,107
description: Keith recognizes him immediately. Alarm bells go off in his head. This person is important, he thinks. He wishes he could remember. “Keith!” he exclaims, “Look who’s finally awake. How are you feeling today?” Keith falters. His mind is working a mile a minute trying to recall this person’s name, what he is to him. “Um… who are you?” he asks dumbly. He immediately regrets it. -Keith suffers from dissociative amnesia
review: If you like sad, read this. This is a oneshot that was followed up with the next fic to this right (I'll Never Leave You Alone) and both of them kill you. They are so well written and you really can feel the emotions that is going on between the characters, especially what Lance is feeling as he takes care of Keith who is also struggling very much so. The other members of Team Voltron (minus Allura and Coran) make an apperance in this fic but their part is minor.
5. I’ll Never Leave You Alone by: CamelotQueen (add on to Don’t Forget to Remember Me)
rating: General
chapters: 7
words: 17,300
description: Over a decade after the team was launched into space, Keith is back on earth struggling with dissociative amnesia. Luckily he's not fighting it alone, and his husband and the rest of the team are there to help. A series of drabbles revolving around Keith's amnesia
review: I can't with this fic. The oneshot (Don't Forget to Remember Me) made me cry, and although I managed to not cry during these 7 oneshots, it still got to me so bad. I feel so horrible for Lance and Keith and everyone else because they have to go through this and I can't even imagine how hard it would be. Each chapter is a different day in Keith/Lance's life. They are mainly bad/neutral days and chapter 2 is a great day, but again for the most part this will kill you but it is amazing.
6. Gap Year by: WaxandWane
rating: Teen & Up
chapters: 1
words: 1,432
description: Lance finds himself. Turns out, he was right there all along.
review: This is in fact the only fic that I have read that is not for a ship. It is for Lance on his own. Again, it's another fic with a really short description but trust me it is well worth the read. I'm usually not one that is for oneshots all that much but since I've entered the Voltron fandom, oneshots are mostly the only completed works since it's a fairly new fandom. Also this is completely from Lance's perspective and it's a little depressing becuase Langst but Langst is now my new favorite thing (Lance + Angst is the best thing to ever happen to me) so I'm 100% okay with that.
7. Lucky by: imtheonlybeefcow
rating: General Audiences
chapters: 1
words: 7,000
description: Allura lets everyone have a one week vacation! Lance gets to see his family.
review: So this one is actually by one of my best friends. When she first told me about her "Lance can sing headcanon" I was like OH MY GOD THAT IS AMAZING I WANT IT NOW, and then she told me she was writing a fic and I was so happy (especailly since she let me read it as she was writing it). This whole thing is just so pure. Also Lauren is amazing and I love her
8. I Think I’ve Hit A Wall by: imtheonlybeefcow
rating: Teen & Up
chapters: 6
words: 11,286
description: Keith gets injured while training and it's up to Lance and Shiro to take care of him
review: Another fic by my friend (no I'm not being bias I promise, I'm actually super picky about my fics and she is a great writer so her fics deserve to be on here). One of my favorite things about this fic (besides the fact that I was able to read parts of it before everyone else, and was asked for help with some of the decisions- nothing major and only like 2 things but still) is the title. It fits it so well, and I think it's really funny considering. Read it, it's a good one
UNCOMPLETED FICS
1. On Thin Ice by: Minadora
rating: Mature
chapters: 9/?
words: 149,858
last update: 3.12.17
description: Once upon a time, two Canadian nerds decided to start a figure skating au about their two space sons and their wonderful misfit friends. Ten pages of headcanons later we finally put electronic pen to electronic paper and created this monstrosity. This multi-chapter fic chronicles the lives of a hockey player named Keith who gets forcibly enlisted into figure skating lessons by his brother, Shiro, to "work on his footwork". There he meets a pompous - yet talented - figure skater named Lance and gets swept away by both the sport and the skater. Enjoy the ride because it's only just started.
review: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. That is how I feel when I'm reading this fic. And when it updates. And just in general anytime I begin to think about it. I love this fic so, so much. It's literally all of my favorite things combined into one big thing. Angst, Fanfiction, Klance, and Figure Skating. And it's so good and long (and i'm a sucker for long fics). Honestly, I'm such trash for this fic and I get told that all of the time but I'm so okay with it because come on figure skating is the best
2. Shut Up and Dance With Me by: Wittyy-name, illustrated by: Wolfpainters
rating: Mature
chapters: 10/16
words: 132,130
last update: 5.26.2017
description: Lance and his friends have been regulars at the Altea Dance Studio for years. Not just for classes, but to hang out, practice, and spend time with good people who love dancing. Every year, they audition to be one of the few representing Altea at the regional dance competition. Lance always auditions solo, but this year he misses out on auditions and blows his chance to participate. And so does his self-proclaimed rival, Keith. Luckily, Shiro comes up with a brilliant plan: convince Lance and Keith to audition as a duo. With a little convincing, and a lot of effort, these two might just be able to pull it off and go to regionals... or they might crash and burn.
review: When I said I love Wittyy's work I wasn't kidding, her fics will be on here a lot. I think I started reading this after I finsihed reading what was made of OTI, and I was like holy shit did I just find another amazing slow burn au with another sport that i like. The answer is yes, I did. Honestly I have a huge problem, but I don't really care at this point because fics like this are just so good and Wittyy is an amazing writer and wolfpainters (the arist, aka Sora) is also just so good and together they are perfect.
3. The Marks We Make by: Wittyy-name, illustrated by: Wolfpainters
rating: Mature
chapters: 5/?
words: 94,834
last update: 5.4.2017
description: Lance McClain constantly dreams of the day he'll finally meet his mysterious soulmate. They don't say much, if anything at all, but they leave him with gorgeous paintings temporarily tattooing his skin. It's not exactly the situation he hoped for, but when he feels the connection between them, he can't bring himself to resent them. As much as he wishes his soulmate would just talk to him, he's resigned himself to being patient. In the meantime, he has a loving family and good friends to help him get by. Keith Kogane dreads the day he'll finally meet his obnoxious soulmate. He's just an art student who's struggling to find his place in the world. There's so much he hasn't been able to control in his life, and the thought of having a soulmate, just another thing in his life which he also has no control over yet can't do anything about, is a little terrifying. So he ignores the words that occasionally appear on his skin. He has other things to focus on: like being a new student at a big university where his childhood friend and step-brother go.
review: Yet another fic by my favorite person, Wittyy (and illustrated by Wolfpainters). Just when you thought Wittyy's writing couldn't get anybetter, it did. This fic only has a few chapters up right now and I'm hooked. Like everything else that she has ever writen, TMWM is halarious, angsty and cute and sweet all at the same time. I think part of the reason I love her writing so much is that the characters never seem like they are out of character from the show, yet I almost forget they aren't her characters at all and I love it. Anyway, this fic is amazing and I can't wait to see where it goes. (bonus for all HP fans- there is also quiddich so read up you nerds)
4. Shadow of the Past by: wittyy-name (mirrored fic: Ghost of the Future by: Zizzani)
rating: General
chapters: 2/?
words: 18,988
last update: 2.26.2017
description: When Lance is thrown through time, he finds himself one year in the future, in place of the Lance that should be here. He finds his team to be remarkably familiar, yet distinctly different. They have more scars, a better grip on the whole saving the universe thing, and over a year’s worth of teamwork to bind them together. But the weirdest part? Keith seems to be a lot more touchy with him. Not that he’s complaining… much. The team must try and work out how to reverse the two Lance’s places and restore them to their original timelines. But despite the fact that they’re still his friends, Lance can’t help but feel a little out of place among a team that’s been through so much with a Lance that just isn’t him. And it doesn’t help that the team is on edge around him, refusing to tell him anything for fear of influencing and changing the past. Things get even more complicated when they have to rely on the team in the past to complete the switch, leaving Lance to little more than sit, wait, and attempt to fill in his future self’s shoes. Mirror fic to "Ghost of the Future" by Zizzani
review: So like it's mirror, I also discovered this one through Wittyy and if you read Ghost of the Future then you need to read this one as well because they go together and it just makes the whole thing so much better, not to mention, who wouldn't want to see the future paladins (because this one is from past!Lance's perspective in the future). It's super interesting to see how Witttyy portray's the futures of team Voltron so far and how their relationships and lives have changed over the course of the year.
5. Ghost of the Future by: Zizzani (mirrored fic: Shadow of the past by: Wittyy-name)
rating: General
chapters: 2/?
words: 17,282
last update: 2.26.2017
description: When Lance is thrown through time, his future self from one year ahead is transported to the past in his place. This Lance is faster, stronger, and markedly more mature. Not only that, but he's distinctly more intuitive about his teammates and A LOT more touchy with Keith. The team must try and work out how to reverse the two Lance's places and restore them to their original timelines. Things only get more complicated when the Future Lance can't seem to remember where he was when the switch happened, and he refuses to reveal anything about his own time for fear of influencing the team's decisions. Mirror fic to "Shadow of the Past" by wittyy_name
review: So I discovered this fic through Wittyy (who writes the mirror fic) and WOW it is so good. This one is from future!Lance's perspective in the current time (the time of the show) and I just have so many feelings towards Lance from the future, it's really not okay (I love him so so much). Ugh these two fics are just so well written and i can't handle it.
6. I Found Love by: seabreez, illustrated by: thesearchingastronaut
rating: Teen & Up
chapters: 3/?
words: 12,201
last update: 3.17.2017
description: Keith is just trying to live his life as a freelance illustrator with his cat, keeping up with bills by having two part-time jobs. But when he keeps bumping into Mr. Tall, Tan, & Handsome after a music event at his bar, well, maybe he's willing to make time for pretty, blue eyes and a laugh like silver bells.
review: Okay, so thesearchingastronaught is hands down one of my favorite voltron artists because her work is amazing, so when I saw that she collabed with people and did the art for fics I had to read them. I actually read the next fic before this one but still this one is so good. Pure fluff is a really good change from my usual slow burn hardcore angst that I'm used to. So if you are looking for fluff or just a break in the sadness that is your choice of fanfiction, then this is for sure the fic for you.
7. Off Balance by: jubilee_jawz, illustrated by: thesearchingastronaut
rating: General Audiences
chapters: 2/?
words: 4,786
last update: 1.27.2017
description: 12 year old Keith has settled into his adoptive home quiet nicely. Its Christmas Eve and Shiro makes it home late from uni and he takes Keith out to see the local ballet preform The Nutcracker. Lance is a soldier in the show and beats a rat into submission and little Keith gets his first crush. (AU where Lance is a ballet student at Altea Academy and Keith is pining as per usual. )
review: Fuck Dance AU's- aka. please read this because there are only 2 chapters and it's so adorable already and there is a cute mini aussie named Chaiko and i love dance AU's and need all of them now but especially this one. Jubilee-jawz is the actual author and thesearchingastronaught is the amazing artist for this story and if you like klance then you have probably seen her work- it's so good. Unfortunately, I think this fic has been set on hold for just a little bit because of some personal issues, but I'm not completely sure
