Are the Illyrians a Retired Prototype of the Angels from Crescent City?
Illyrians are notorious throughout Prythian, because they are only found in Illyria and because of their physical appearance, most notably their bat-like wings. While bats are commonly believed to be nocturnal (most active at night), they are actually crepuscular (most active at dawn/dusk).
Why is this important? This creates a link between the Illyrians and the Dusk Court, the Court that has been destroyed for all purposes and now serves as a Prison, but has some strange link to CC. We know this because the Asteri have a literal room called Dusk's truth, that mentions an island (the Prison) in another world (Prythian) where the fae in CC came from. The floor in the inner chamber of the Prison also has an eight-pointed star engraved into it, the symbol of the Starborn fae in CC.
Their geographic spread is also a little strange. The people of the Dawn Court and Drakon's people have the same feathered wings, so their population spread sometime in the past, and many other species are mentioned to be found throughout the world, but Illyrians, for some reason, stick to their mountains.
The Illyrians also have Ramiel, which they believe to be a sacred mountain and is essentially a giant teleportation machine. They also have stories of their greatest warrior protecting the pass, and stopping people from getting to the top, where the a strange black stone is, so we know it served an important at some point in history.
It is possible that Ramiel somehow acted as a portal, or at least a small window, that the Asteri could control and used to send the Illyrians, soldiers they had created for conquest, into Prythian, since they obviously had some issue with the people of Dusk.
If I remember correctly, CC mentions that the Starborn Queen Theia, who is presumably from the Dusk Court, created problems for the Asteri, so it is possible that in return they made Illyrians to fight for them in Prythian, but when Theia somehow removed their access to Prythian, the Illyrians were left behind, with protecting Ramiel programmed into their brains, and the Asteri created new and improved soldiers for Migard, who were more obedient and had better healing.

WORLD ON FIRE: CHAPTER 3 {LOKI X SIGYN)
Summary: Sigyn was supposed to have died almost 100 years ago. A peace mission to Migard gone wrong and she had never returned. Everyone had thought she was dead until Loki is shown someone who looks too familiar when he comes to Earth on a mission. Sharon Odell. Shannon Orwell. Sidney Orwell. No matter what name she goes by, it’s all the same. Now that Gods and heroes are real, there’s no use hiding who she really is anymore.
Chapter Summary: Loki arrives on the Helicarrier.
Masterlist
Chapter 3: Icarus
Thin fingers tapped nervously on the metal railing as Sidney listened to the men begin to plan to go after Loki. He was in Germany. What the hell was he doing there? He wasn’t hiding either. It was almost like he wanted to be found.
She was just grateful she would be staying behind. “Steve,” she called out as she jogged down the hallway after the man.
The solider turned his head as he continued on his way to the jet with Natasha beside him. “Sidney,” he nodded. “Did you need something?”
Sidney frowned as she walked up on his other side, her nose wrinkled in concentration. “Just be careful, alright? We don’t know what we’re dealing with here.” Lie. “He can be-”
“Dangerous, we know. Which is why you’re staying here.” Natasha interrupted with a look that was somehow both reassuring and slightly threatening. “Steve can handle himself.” The man took longer strides now as the two women fell behind. “Or he should be able to.”
“Fingers crossed,” Sidney smiled weakly.
A while had passed and Sidney still couldn’t shake the worry from her mind. As much as she tried to focus in the lab, she couldn’t. They didn’t even have the Tesseract yet. She should be preparing but she couldn’t stop thinking about that was happening out there in Germany. A sharp pain behind her eye made her lurch forward with a yelp.
“Whoa hey!” Banner set down the tablet he held and hurried over. He held a hand close to her arm as the blonde straightened up; a hand still pressed over her eye. “Are you alright? What was that?”
“I’m fine,” she assured the man as she waved him off. “I think…I think something just got in my eye.”
“The lab seems pretty clean to me. Everything should be pretty sterile.”
Banner sounded worried. Shit she had to come up with something else. “Cluster migraines,” she hissed through gritted teeth. “I-I get them all the time, unfortunately. I’m gonna step outside.” She hurried from the lab before the man could protest.
Bruce was too nice of a person to bring up the fact that he’d seen the fact that SHIELD had deemed her a threat. There would be more time for that, he thought. Unless whatever made her a threat showed itself before anyone had a chance to push her to whatever her breaking point was. He shook the thought off as he went back to his own work. Fury didn’t seem like someone he would want to piss off.
Sidney pushed her way past armored soldiers as she stumbled through the hallway. The pain had spread from behind her eye to the back of her head and was slowly making its way around to the other side. She hadn’t been able to focus over the past day or so, she was away from the wards she had placed around her house, and that only meant one thing.
“Excuse me,” she practically grunted as she finally pushed her way out onto the deck. It was a lot cooler out now even as she started to feel more and more over-heated. A quick glance over her shoulder told her that some soldiers definitely had their eye on her as she slipped further towards some of the strapped down jets. Something in the air felt different too but she didn’t have time to think as the splitting headache finally made its way full circle.
Sidney dropped to her knees with a whimper as the few jets that surrounded her shook. Then just as suddenly as it had begun, it was over. A breath that she didn’t even realize she was holding escaped her lips as she finally opened her eyes. Everything felt a little bit lighter but it didn’t take long for the dread to creep in.
“You’ll be happy to hear that Captain America has successfully apprehended Loki. With an assist from Tony Stark. Wasn’t expecting it to happen that easy. Would you happen to know anything about it?” Phil Coulson’s voice cut through the silence. Sidney turned as she lowered herself into a sitting position.
She raised an eyebrow. “He came quietly?”
Coulson nodded. At least it sounded like no one had gotten hurt. Still, it didn’t sit right with her that he had come so quietly. He could probably guess that she was there but she wasn’t foolish enough to think that she would be the only reason that Loki would want onto this plane. Or was it a ship?
“I’m sorry that you had to see that.” Coulson spoke again. She didn’t even have to ask; of course they already knew she’d seen her file. Sidney’s face softened as she looked up and met the man’s eye. “I’m guessing that you can be considered a little less neutralized now. Just judging by the whole-” He tapped the jet beside him.
Sidney gritted her teeth and shrugged. “I can only work with what I have, Philip. I had to run away from home. I didn’t have much of a chance to grab the necessities,” she rolled her eyes. A heavy sigh left her lips as Coulson held out his hand.
“I apologize,” Coulson smiled as Sidney took his hand and allowed him to help her to her feet. “Can we still count on you?”
“He tried to kidnap me. Do you really expect this to be like those news stories of the families crying after being reunited when one of them was off to war,” she questioned him bitterly.
The older man clapped a hand on her shoulder, his smile turned a little more sad as he did. “I’m truly sorry. I-” A loud crack of thunder interrupted him. The attention of both of them turned skyward.
“Uh-oh,” Sidney whispered under her breath as a bright streak of lightning lit up the sky.
“Is that what I think it is?” Coulson sounded exhausted.
The hair on Sidney’s arms began to stand up from a mix of the electricity and anticipation. “I do believe it is.”
“Damn it,” Coulson huffed as he hooked his arm with Sidney’s to lead her back inside the helicarrier. “Hill, alert the others. We’re gonna have more company once they land. Yeah I know. Well figure it out, please! Thank you!”
Sidney reached up and absentmindedly stroked the pendant around her neck as the door closed behind her. Maybe she should go lay down for a bit. Bruce didn’t seem like he would mind. Besides, she could always make up a story about having some lady problems; that usually stopped any questions. She had too much to think about.
The room that she was in was brighter than the one she’d fallen asleep in that was for sure. Someone’s shoes clicked on the hard ground as the blonde stood and chewed on her thumb-nail nervously.
“Calm down,” a female voice spoke from behind her.
She whipped around and narrowed her eyes slightly as she placed her hands on her hips. “Oh how easy that must be! Forgive me, Lady Sif. I’m in awe of your wisdom.” She didn’t mean to snap, but sometimes she still felt a bit of jealousy towards the other woman. How she used to dream of being able to be a woman warrior like the Valkyrie or even like Sif . She had no such luck.
“Many are,” Sif smirked as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. She felt herself relax a little bit as her friend stepped forward and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Just as they will be in awe of you.”
Sidney’s eyes popped open as a beeping sound invaded her ears. She hadn’t meant to fall asleep, truly. Maybe the incident outside had taken more out of her than she thought it would. The blonde raised a hand to touch her shoulder. Her dream had felt real. She’d half expected to open her eyes and find her friend before her.
She could never be so lucky. The beeping sounded again. With some semblance of grace, she lowered herself down from the top bunk where she had slept and grabbed the source of the beeping off of the small counter.
“You should know better than to interrupt my beauty sleep,” she sighed as she turned and looked at herself in the small mirror.
“They’ve landed. Come to the bridge whenever is convenient for you, sleeping beauty.”
She gritted her teeth as she snapped the phone shut. Damn Fury right to Hel.
Sidney leaned over and splashed cool water on her face. Her hands shook as she straightened out her shirt. She couldn’t put this off for ever. Still, she was in no hurry to throw herself right into the lion’s den.
It felt like controlled chaos as she exited her quarters and stepped into the hallway. The once bustling area was quiet but the tensions still seemed higher than they had before. The blonde woman took a deep breath and fixed her dark eyes on a spot on the wall ahead of her as she started on her trek. Every step she took, it felt like something in her gut tried to warn her. Pull her backwards as she felt the urge to run back and curl up on her bed.
No. She couldn’t give any of them the satisfaction.
Plus, Bruce would probably need her help now and at least the lab could keep her occupied.
Any semblance of rational thought left her as she rounded the corner. Her heart skipped a beat. Her palms grew sweaty as she clenched them into fists. Time seemed to stand still as her brain processed who walked towards her now. Loki stood in the middle of an entourage of armed guards.
Just as her ability to move kicked back in, she drew in a deep breath. Her shoulders shook as she tried to hold her stoic expression. It became even harder as Loki’s eyes finally drifted from the window of the lab towards her.
Their eyes locked. The smile on his face grew even bigger as he was led closer still. Where the hell were they taking him?
Despite the group he walked with, he seemed close enough to reach out and touch if he wanted to. The cat had got the canary right where he wanted her.
“Son of a bitch,” she hissed as he drifted out of sight.
“Hey.”
Sidney nearly jumped out of her skin as she spun around to meet the curious eyes of Bruce Banner. “Jesus Christ, Bruce. You always that quiet?”
He raised an eyebrow at her as he shook his head slowly. “No…I think we should go though. You know, safety in numbers.” He smiled nervously, “Besides, that Loki guy gives me the creeps. How about you?”
“I wouldn’t say that’s the word for it,” she mumbled under her breath as she looked over her shoulder one last time.
“Fury does have a way with words,” Sidney observed as she listened to the conversation from her spot on the bridge with the others. She was careful to keep her eyes off of the new arrival though she could feel his gaze on her every few moments.
“A mindless beast,” Loki sounded too happy as he said that. Sidney glanced at Bruce and placed a hand on his arm. “Makes play he’s still a man.”
He’s just playing games with all of us.
“How desperate are you? You call on such lost creatures to defend you!”
Sidney could barely even listen anymore. How could this be the same Loki that she had known? He was a trickster, sure. But killing for fun? Thor had always been more one to go off and start a war because he was bored. Something was very wrong…
“It burns you to have come so close,” Loki taunted. Now that piqued her interest. He knew something that none of them did and it bothered her almost more than anything else that he’d said.
“He really grows on ya, doesn’t he,” Bruce spoke up as the video feed cut off. Sidney let out a snort of laughter. At least Bruce didn’t seem so bothered by the jabs that Loki had surely meant to unleash the beast. He was really a genius.
“Loki’s gonna drag this out,” Steve frowned. “Thor. What’s his play?”
Thor furrowed his brow as he turned to face the group. “He has an army called the Chitauri. They’re not of Asgard or any known world. He means to lead them against your people.” Thor glanced over at her for a moment; she didn’t avert her eyes this time. “They will win him Earth in return, I suspect, for the Tesseract.”
“An army from outer space,” Steve dead-panned.
“He’s building another portal. That’s what he needs Erik Selvig for.” Bruce sighed.
Sidney’s jaw clenched as she sucked in a deep breath. “That’s what he needed me for.” At least one of the things he probably wanted her for anyway.
“Selvig? He’s a friend.” Thor explained. Maybe his time on Earth had changed him. It had sure changed Erik but maybe not so much for the better.
Sidney kept quiet as the rest of the group continued to talk. She didn’t want a part in this discussion about Loki. At least not yet. Something didn’t sit right with her about the whole thing. Something was wrong about everything.
“I don’t think we should be focusing on Loki,” Bruce interrupted. “That guy’s brain is a bag full of cats. You could smell the crazy on him.”
Sidney’s nostrils flared as she bit down on her tongue. Now was not the time to argue.
“Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard. And he is my brother.” For a moment, Sidney’s heart swelled with appreciation for the blond man. At least it seemed like he still held some loyalty to the caged man.
“He killed 80 people in 2 days.”
Sidney let out a low whistle as she glanced from Natasha back to the God of thunder.
“He’s adopted.”
What?!
She could barely focus on what happened in front of her anymore. As Stark took center stage, a plan popped into her head. Thank god Tony loved the spot light, she thought as she took the opportunity to quietly slip out of view of the others.
Once she was in the hallway, she kept her eyes down. If anyone asked, she would say that she was on her way back to her room. Hopefully, no one would question her since she’d been…sick before.
Her shoulders tensed as she passed the window to the lab. She was closer now. Sidney lifted her gaze as she passed by her room. Just a little further. Footsteps were coming towards her now.
“Shit,” she hissed through gritted teeth. As the guard stepped into view, Sidney furrowed her brow and made a show of looking around.
“Miss Orwell,” the guard called out. “I’m afraid that this part of the ship is restricted.” He sounded pleasant enough but there was definitely a hint of a threat in his voice.
Her brown eyes widened. “Oh! I thought I’d gone too far. You know once you get far enough in, everything starts to look the same,” she let out a high pitched laugh. The guard raised an eyebrow.
“I’ll show you back to your quarters.”
Sidney held her head up higher as she allowed the guard to lead her back to her room. She didn’t have much of a choice.
Despite her set-back, she didn’t let that hold her back. The blonde woman waited a few minutes before she decided to venture out again. A better plan on her mind this time.
Her fingers clutched her key card tight as she walked close enough to the wall that she could hopefully hide if anyone noticed her. Some God out there must have wanted her to get answers as she made it without much of an issue. Sure, she’d run into a guard or two, but she’d managed to dodge them this time.
It felt like her feet were rooted to the ground as she stood outside of the locked room. Her brown eyes closed as she focused on the keycard in her hand. If she was right, then she should be able to at least do this. With her eyes still closed, she raised the card to the scanner and a satisfying noise echoed around her.
Sidney opened her eyes and swallowed hard before she took a step inside. She spotted the camera from across the room. From what she could see, there was no light on. Hopefully that meant that no one was watching.
Her shoes tapped quietly on the grates as she walked up the small set of stairs. Sidney’s heart felt heavy as she stepped onto the landing and turned to face down the aisle. The cage was almost not even noticeable the glass was so clear. If she didn’t think too much about it, the man inside looked like a sick version of someone as they waited at the end of the aisle in a church.
Her arms folded in front of her chest as she took a defensive stance. Loki stared her down as he rose from his seat and stepped closer to the glass. Despite herself, Sidney mirrored him as she too took a few steps closer.
The hair on the back of her neck stood up as Loki observed her. Even though he was the one in the cage, she felt a bit like a rare animal in a zoo as his eyes seemed to take in all of her features one by one. Finally, his blue eyes met her brown ones. They were too blue.
“So you do live,” Loki’s voice was quiet even as a grin stretched across his face. Sidney held her head up high as she kept quiet. “Where have you been hiding?”
Sidney squeezed her eyes shut. In spite of the thought that she’d put into it since she’d seen him in the hallway, she hadn’t prepared for this. She had prepared for death threats and questions about the attempted kidnapping. Now she just didn’t have it in her.
As her eyes fluttered open, a small smile formed on her face. “Hello to you too, Loki. I’ve missed you, love.”

A Second Chance
A Chance Encounter (First Part)
Many followers have expressed they would read a part 2, so here you go!
Warnings: Some angst, mostly fluff
Words: 1624
You look out your apartment window sadly. It’s been six years since the attack on New York and you still think about the mysterious man who calls himself Loki. Were you too harsh on him? You shake your head. Does he even think about you? You doubt it. It was one encounter many years ago, which is why you’re frustrated you’re still thinking about it. Loki never left your mind, no matter how hard you tried. Not much has changed in your life. Still in the same boring job, just got a few promotions since. You’ve been on a few dates, but none were as handsome as Loki. Your father was still in prison on murder charges, as he has most of your life. That might be why you freaked out about Loki killing innocent people. Besides the fact that it’s not okay. A knock on your door startles you. You don’t remember buzzing somebody into your building so you open your door with caution. Your jaw drops as Loki is standing in front of you in a black suit, with the blonde man from before, but he got a haircut. “Y-you.” You can barely breathe. “W-why aren’t you in prison, or something?”
“I-I am, in a way.” You can’t seem to breathe. “Y-you are (Y/n), right?”
“Yes.” You whisper. “Please, come in.” You let both men into your small apartment. “Loki, was it?” He nods. “W-why are you here?” You haven’t been this nervous in a long time.
“I wanted to apologize for that day, again.” Loki doesn’t meet your eyes. “I-I have changed, and now as part of proving myself worthy I have joined the Avengers to protect Migard. I know I don’t deserve a second chance, but, if you aren’t seeing anyone, I would still like to take you out sometime, just once if you aren’t comfortable.” You look down, weighing your options. “You’re allowed to say no, but I’ve thought about you every day since our meeting.”
You hear your mother’s voice in the back of your head. “Everyone deserves a second chance, (Y/n), including your father.”
“Everyone deserves a second chance.” You sigh. “Yes, I would love to go out with you sometime.” It starts storming and you jump at the thunder. Loki glares at his brother before taking your hand in his.
“I’m sorry for intruding on you.” He kisses your knuckles softly.
“You’re not.” You blush, feeling foolish a storm scared you. “When did you want to go out?” Loki smirks and your blush deepens.
“I was going to say now, but…” You both look at the down pouring rain. “That seems like a bad idea.” You laugh.
“I’m off tomorrow at six, did you want to meet for dinner?”
“How about I pick you up at seven-thirty for dinner?” He smirks. “I want to prove myself, especially to you.”
You lose your breath at his charming smile. “Okay.” You look away quickly. The storm is still coming down and you feel bad making him walk in it. “Stay, at least until the storm has passed.” He looks at his brother.
“It won’t effect me.” You frown, confused.
“Do you mind if I have some privacy with her?” Loki frowns at his brother. You can tell Thor is reluctant.
“Be back as soon as the storm passes.” He leaves and Loki smiles down at you.
“Both of you could have stayed.”
“I wanted to be alone with you. It’s hard enough to express my feelings, let alone when my brother is present.” Loki cups your cheek. “I have regretted how I acted all these years. Please, forgive me.”
“I have.” You smile before leading him to your couch to sit. “So, tell me about yourself.” You look at him interested.
“I-I am not interesting.” Loki looks at his hands. You frown at him.
“A man who runs around in some weird armor, a cape, and a golden helmet isn’t interesting? What kind of world do you live in?” He chuckles, which makes you smile. “Please tell me?” He looks at you nervously. “Come on, I’m the one who’s really boring! All I do is work and read, I’m not interesting at all!”
“I-I am a prince of Asgard, Thor’s younger adopted brother.” You smile as he finally opens up to you. You encourage him to continue by holding his hand and nodding your head. “I didn’t know I was adopted until about eight years ago? Something like that.”
“Why not sooner?” You whisper. Loki looks at you confused.
“I don’t know myself.” He sighs and lifts your chin to meet his eyes. “I fear of scaring you off.” You smile.
“You can’t scare me off, but you might piss me off.” Loki laughs. How could a simple mortal make him feel so happy? “Trust me, if you had met my dad…” You don’t continue.
“Darling, what is it?” His arm is around your waist, pulling you to his side.
“He’s been in prison most of my life, yet my mother insists on keeping contact with him. Even after he confessed to what he did to all those women, after he confessed he imagined my mother when he killed them.” You start crying.
“Really?” You nod and he pulls you into his lap. “I’m so sorry, my sweet angel.” He kisses your hair.
“I don’t talk to him, but he tries to make contact. That’s why I moved here, to get away from that.” He pets your hair gently. “Please, don’t think less of me because of him.”
“Why would I even think that, darling?” Loki forces you to look at him. “Look at me, I’ve done worse things than your father, yet you are allowing me into your life. How could I blame you for being his daughter?”
“You’d be surprised how many failed relationships I’ve had where that’s the reason they leave.”
“Then they are pompous mortals who believe themselves to be perfect.” Loki smiles down at you. “I could never blame you for your father’s crimes, as I hope some day people won’t blame my offspring, if I have any, for mine.” You blush, realizing you’ve been crying on his shoulder and still in his lap. He smirks. “It’s alright, my dear. It will come out.” Loki looks out the window watching the rain pound against it. “It doesn’t seem to be letting up.” You see a small smile on his face, like there’s something he knows that you don’t. Loki smirks down at you. “Why don’t we move our date up to now?”
“Where would we go?” You look at him confused. He smiles.
“Close your eyes.” You frown at him skeptically, but obey him. You feel him move his arms and hear something under his breath. “Okay, open.” You gasp at the sight of your kitchen. You’re still sitting in Loki’s lap on the couch, but your kitchen is rearranged in a formal manner. Two candles are lit and there are flowers on the table, with a nice dinner ready for you two.
“How—”
“Magic.” He smiles at your reaction. If this impressed you, he can’t wait to see your other reactions. “Come, my dear. Dinner is ready.” You slowly get off him and realize your clothes have changed too. You’re in an emerald silk dress you could probably never afford in your life.
“Did you see me naked?” You blurt out. Loki laughs as that’s your first thought.
“No, darling, I wouldn’t do the dishonor.” He takes your hand and leads you to the table. Loki dishes out the food and looks at you nervously as you try it. You moan at how good it tastes.
“This is amazing!” You stare at him in awe. “I’m in disbelief.” He smiles proudly, glad you’re enjoying one of his favorite Asgardian dishes. “Loki, I-I don’t know how to say thank you.”
“Darling, trust me, this is nothing.” He smirks at you. You blush and start eating again. Loki can’t take his eyes off you as you smile more than you have in the past decade. “I’m glad you enjoy this.”
Loki finishes his food and you look at him in wonder. If he was really trying to sweep you off your feet, it’s working. “Loki?” He looks at you and sees tears in your eyes. “Thank you, I am touched by this gesture.” He frowns. All he did was make a nice setting and a nice meal, it wasn’t even that hard for him.
“Is everything alright?” Loki takes one of your hands in his. “Did I cross the line? Is this too nice?”
“N-no, this is perfect!” You smile.
“Then what’s wrong?” He stands and makes his way to you.
“This is the most effort anyone has put into trying to get me.”
“So, it is too nice?” He pulls you up slowly. “I’m sorry, darling. I just wanted to impress you. I planned this for a long time in case I ever ran into you again.”
“No, Loki, this is so wonderful.” You cup his cheek. “I just don’t know how to thank you.” Loki leans down and kisses you gently.
“You just did, with those soft lips of yours.” You pull him into another, needier kiss. “Now, my dear,” he chuckles. “Don’t get too ahead of yourself. We have a while before going to that stage.” You whine in need and Loki has to check himself. He wants nothing more than to have his way with you, but he doesn’t want to rush things. “Come and tell me about your Midgardian library.” You smirk and pull him to the couch to tell him of all the stories you’ve read. Loki smiles and listens intently, never wanting to miss a word.

The Return - Part 3 of Healer of Midgard
Author: Hey Guys!!! Part 3 of Healer of Migard is here!! Constructive critism apreciated! I can’t spell. Please send in requests for drabbles, headcanons, oneshots and multi parts.
Synopsis: Loki is here, (Finaly)
Type: x fem!reader
Warnings: Violence, not excplicit
7:25, 15:25, why was that the time of night that (Y/N) enjoyed most? It was because she could go home, curl up with a home cooked dinner, pet her dog, Ash, and binge watch American Horror Story to her heart’s content. There were no students, no annoying co-workers and no assessments to grade. Just (Y/N), her dog and Evan Peters.
It was when Elsa started fake crying over a severed head that her cell phone rang.
(Y/N) had given her cellphone number to her students at the beginning of the school year if they needed help. It was unlike anyone in her classes to call this late. So (Y/N) picked up immediately.
“Hello?” She said, pausing her show and giving her grey Australian Selie some ear scratches.
“Hello Miss. (Y/N).” A deep, rich, voice permeated through the speaker.
“I’m afraid I don’t know who I am speaking to.” (Y/N) stated as she hastily grabbed her home phone, ready to dial 911 at any time. The person behind the phone could be a friend that had gone through puberty, the parent of a student or a person from one of the big super co-operations obsessed with her joining the team. She placed the phone on the table beside her and slid her hand under her couch and gripped her athame tightly in one hand. “Who are you?” (Y/N) asked as she slid it out of its sheath.
“I don’t see the point in lying to you ma’am. My name is Nick Fury and my team and I know what you did in 2012, during the alien invasion.” The man on the other side of the phone seemed like he was trying to get something out of her and he wasn’t going to get a reaction.
“And what of it? Do you need me to cure some ailment of yours Mr. Fury? It isn’t blackmail to me.” Keeping her voice steady (Y/N) pressed the nine in on her home phone. She prepared to push in the first one.
“I want to bring you in.” Nick stated as she was preparing to dial the final number in her alert call. “I assume you have heard of the Avengers.” He was serious, (Y/N) could tell, so she canceled her call and put the phone back on the charging station.
“I have heard of the Avengers,” (Y/N) said, sinking back onto the couch where her dog was napping. “But, I am not about to join them Mr. Fury. I intend to live my life separate from all of the superhero drama. I would prefer it if you didn’t call me again.”
(Y/N) slid her dagger back into its hidden sheath and stood up, feeling like eating junk food after having to participate in more human interaction than she would have liked to.
“All I am saying,” Fury continued, “is that we would like to have you Red Cross.”
(Y/N) tensed up a bit, then she laughed, a small breath that sounded like uplifting birds. “That codename is so cringy, who gave it to me? No, don’t answer that. If you had to give me a nickname, I would choose Safeguard. That is because my powers safeguard lives. You should probably know I can’t heal everything. If the wound is life threatening, I can heal it if it would be possible for you to survive if that makes sense. But I suppose you knew that before you called me.”
She made her way to a chair near the window, overlooking the streets below.
Nick Fury didn’t answer, in fact he was quiet, too quiet.
(Y/N) checked her phone and the call was still open. She held the phone to her ear. “Hello? Mr. Fury?”
The explosion nearly deafened her. Screams came from the other side and the sound of metal piercing flesh filled the speakerphone. Fury gasped and (Y/N) nearly dropped her phone as the sound of a body hitting the ground accompanied by cold laughter.
A voice she recognized, but couldn't place, spoke up. "Sir that phone line is open."
(Y/N) jumped as the sound of smashing glass filled the phone, then silence filled the room.
(Y/N) pulled the phone away from her face. She had just heard a murder being committed over the phone.
Sha shakely got up and sat her phone on the table. Her brain was still awash with images of a faceless man being stabbed to death.
She looked out the window for some calm, however, all she could feel was panic. She screamed as the huge beast made of metal and flesh soared across the street and cut through the building across from hers. The chitauri were back in New York.
She didn't have time to pull her atheme from under the couch before Captain America burst through her door. He looked different. All muscle and brute force, no tactics behind his crystal blue eyes.
"Captain Rogers?" (Y/N) asked confusedly.
He stalked over to the young woman and dragged her out of her apartment and down the hall.
At the end of the corridor, (Y/N)'s neighbours were being escorted outside by some men with guns.
She pulled a pair of gloves from her pocket and slipped them onto her hands. To prevent any 'miracles' from occurring.
Steve shoved her into the crowd of people in the doorway and she made her way down the stairs and into the twilight where a crowd was forming.
(Y/N) was pushed against strangers and was glad she remembered her gloves. She stood on her tiptoes to get a glimpse of what was in front of it.
A handsome man, dressed in green, black and gold armor stood before the crowd. And the second he spoke, they all fell silent.
"Kneel before me." It was a simple command and so with the rest of the scared citizens (Y/N) sank to her knees.
"Look at all of you." The man chuckled, raising his arms to welcome the attention. "In your proper place, bowing to your king. Some of you may fight, some will obey. Those who obey will be rewarded, those of you who fight, will be punished."
(Y/N) inhaled a deep breath as she scanned the crowd for her students. MJ was being held down by Ned who was trembling. Flash was staring at the ground. Eye bruised from where somebody had hit him. She spotted every single student, except for Peter Parker.
Loki, or the king, as he referred to himself spoke for over an hour about the punishments for disobedience, many of which were prison or death. He then changed the topic to those who obeyed.
"To all of you loyal subjects out there. Those who would swear an oath to their king, you shall be my court, my lords and ladies, noble people." He scanned the crowd for those who were paying attention. And his eye caught (Y/N)'a for just a second before he continued.
"There will be little use for the professions you once held. Your reassignment will begin immediately." Loki said with enthusiasm.
Over the next few days, the Avengers pulled people from their homes to speak to the king. If they refused their assignment, they were killed. Corpses were hung up to prove points and (Y/N) was relieved every day when she didn't see a single student's body.
She had managed to contact every student except for one, Peter Parker. She had called his Aunt May and had asked her. It appeared that she would have to call stark tower to talk to her missing student.
The tower where the king resided and was holding the Avengers, at least, those who he didn't brainwash.
(Y/N) picked up her cell phone, took a deep breath and dialed the number.
