Independence Day! The greatest act of high treason towards the crown and the start of the greatest experiment in human history. Today as I reflect back on the last 242 years and all the things that this country has done and accomplished, we are only just beginning. American exceptionalism is a real thing, regardless of what anyone says. Those who say there is no such thing, doesn't want there to be such a thing, but there is. We are not without our share of problems. Who is? But the hope I see in the eyes of the next generation I get to photograph is remarkable. They are the reason I know we are exceptional. And my faith in them and their generation to carry on and persevere is comforting. We have come a long way since 1776, but one thing remains the same, Americans are relentless in our pursuit of a better way of life, of excellence and that has and will continue to make all the difference.
