Izuku downs the burning clear liquid, grimacing at the aftertaste. He shoves the lemon in his mouth to suck away that harsh feeling in his gums.

“Yeah, well… I got stood up, so I think I deserve it.”

The man swirls his glass around, taking in a deep breath, “Stood up, huh? Must be in the air tonight.”

“You too?”

The man hums as he stares down at his phone, sighing heavily. Izuku can tell he’s been through it today just from his drink choice alone. Looks like a double shot of Hennessy and then a large margarita on the rocks. Why is he getting all snooty at Izuku at mixing when he’s doing it, too?!

“He texted me ‘on the way’ over an hour ago.”

“Mine didn’t even text me.”

He doesn’t know why he made that come out a bit more harsh than it should’ve, but maybe that’s just his inner competitive side coming out. Or maybe it’s just to get this guy to shut the hell up and leave him to drink and wallow in his self-pity alone.]

Doki-doki, Todoroki part 5: Cicadas and Sunshine, Chapter 1 is up!

Chapter Summary:  Shouto gets roped into baking cookies with Midoriya, Uraraka, and Kirishima, but it’s not as easy as he assumed it would be—especially when Midoriya looks so cute covered in flour.

Excerpt: Whoomf. A mushroom cloud of flour erupts from the bowl and flies right into Shouto’s face. He blinks several times and coughs against the onslaught of powder, a fine layer coating his face and turning the red side of his hair white.

There’s a beat of silence where no one moves. Then, Uraraka breaks the quiet with a loud, wheezing laugh and doubles over, hands on her knees. Kirishima joins her, and even Midoriya, flour-freckled, begins to laugh, covering his mouth with his hand and trying to keep a straight face as Shouto contemplates where on earth he went wrong.

Izuku smiled at him with watery eyes and knelt down on one knee. Shoto's heart pounded, making him lightheaded as realisation set in.

No. No. No. No. No. No.

'I want you, forever and always.' Izuku pressed on, clearly misinterpreting the fearful look in Shoto's wide eyes, and released their hands. He then opened the velvet box to unveil a golden ring with a shining emerald that reflected the light.

No...

'Marry me, Shoto.' Izuku gazed into his eyes, a dopey smile on his face. 'I love you so fucking much.'

He wanted to throw up. Everything over the last six years came crashing down, the weight too much for his tense shoulders. He couldn't… There were so many lies. Their entire relationship: Shoto had been lying about who he was—about what he was—while burying the consequences under the sand. He'd been too busy learning to live again that he'd been selfish; he'd allowed this wonderful, incredible, perfect man to fall in love with him, and it wasn't fair. He couldn't keep hurting Izuku, even if it meant rejection, even if it meant Izuku hated him.

He had to do the right thing… finally.
