Update: Taelor IM'd me on Instagram today to let me know that just before this picture was taken, that she and Mickey had got their marriage license. 

I think sometimes you can sense people's energy from afar. I was riding my bike up the street as I passed by Taelor and Mickey, strolling along, hand in hand. For some reason I really felt the need and stop to take their photo. I had no intention to record that moment for them, but our meeting served more than one purpose yesterday. Now they will always have a record of the day they got married.

 L.A collective ChampionsOnly98 invites us to explore the music performed by its affiliate that goes by the stage name Mickey Taelor.

All we can say is ….wow!!

The young beautiful and skilful artist, knock we out flexing great soulful vocals and flaunting hip-hop attitude when she grab the mic to deliver hot bars!

We wanna give y’all a special treat to get familiar with this interesting artist: Le Noir.

The song is a supa-smooth piece enhanced with a superb mellow production handled by California record producer William Thomas Trenell Brown better known by the moniker Willie B.

The member of Top Dawg Entertainment’s in-house production collective Digi+Phonics (along side grammy award winning Sounwave,Dave Free and Tae Beast) kicked off his career as rapper but he earned a well-established reputation grindin’ behind the boards and cookin’ serious productions for heavy-weights such as J.Cole,Kendrick Lamar,Freddie Gibbs,Bishop Lamont.

Deeply influenced by sonic-architects like  J. Dilla, Just Blaze, Dr. Dre, Madlib and other producers of the current music scene such as Terrace Martin,Jansport J and  Chordz of production team D.R.U.G.S, Willie B wrapped a sublime slow instrumental that perfectly fits Mickey Taelor style.

We can assert this is a fruitful collabo between two artists which display a good chemistry and a mutual respect as can be inferred from a Willie interview in which he describes Mickey talent:

Her voice is just different. She has this alternative sound but at the same time she’s soulful. She reminds me of Erykah Badu mixed with Nelly Furtado mixed with Amy Winehouse. It’s all the same. The thing is, we’re working on new music now. It’s funny because people compare her to these soulful acts like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill and she loves them, don’t get it twisted, but she’s a big Little Dragon fan, to the max. That’s the type of stuff we’re working on now. It’s kind of on another wave. Her sound is so broad. That’s what I like about her sound. You can’t really put her in a box. She can do hip-hop, she can do pop, she’s neo-soul, the Little Dragon-type stuff. The only thing we haven’t put her on is rock. But if given the opportunity, she’ll knock that out too.
