... a M|M ship with major parental issues were high school sweethearts undercover (both having one of their fathers assaulting them after he found them together), went years going in and out of each other's lives (including one entering the military, religious fanaticism, and jail time in respective orders), then got engaged in the third-to-last episode of a season, and married in the finale, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Fuck The CW for not giving Malex a honeymoon season and making me actually grateful to John Wells for some thing other than actually showing the ins and outs of Gallavich’s relationship *side-glances heavily at Carina and Chris*.

Liza, I follow you for CS and watched the first 4 episodes of Roswell New Mexico because of you. I'll be caught up by tomorrow. So far I ship both MaxXLiz and MichaelXAlex what is it that you like about the ships?

I’m so glad! I think you sent this yesterday, does that mean you’re all caught up? Good stuff, amiright?

As for your question, for me whether or not I ship something is always all about the chemistry first and then if they have a compelling story. These two couples have both in spades. 

Michael/Alex - That scene at the reunion in the pilot is sort of an extraordinary ship-making moment. All episode you know there’s an undercurrent between them, it’s very intriguing but you’re not positive what the relationship is, and then bam, they’re drawn to each other like magnets. The way it was shot, the staging, the music, the acting was all extremely well done and set them up really well. 

Once you know more about the story (and I’m hoping you’re caught up if you’re reading this, if not come back later) then I find it impossible not to root for them. I think that the scene in the shed with dear ol’ dad and the hammer is one of the most startling and horrifying scenes I’ve seen on television in a long time. I felt such pain for both of them and really want them to overcome it. They’re both so broken and you just know if they were together, really together, they’d both feel safe and whole again.

Max/Liz - These two have such a feeling of sweetness and tenderness about them, even though they’re both also broken and sometimes at odds. I love that. It’s like hearteyes 24/7 with them, even when Liz is angry or suspicious, she can’t pretend she doesn’t have feelings for him. One of my favorite things is when she knows he’s not telling her the truth and she has every right to be angry, on guard, and suspicious, there is something deep down in her that knows she’s safe with him and wants him to be the good person she always thought he was. “I have never wanted anything as much as I want to believe you didn’t hurt my sister.” That is a powerful statement. Never? She’s never wanted anything more than to believe in him? Wow. 

Since you mentioned Captain Swan (Killian & Emma from Once Upon a Time) I do think there is a similar dynamic and I think it’s one of the reasons I’m so drawn to both CS and Max/Liz. Both stories are about a girl who has walls and armor and who doesn’t trust anyone, doesn’t think anyone is good, doesn’t usually form connections, and a boy who falls in love first and when he does he falls in love hard and forever. 

In both cases the boy might hide wrong doings from his past, but is open and honest about his feelings for said girl, and when the girl is not quite there yet, he accepts it and doesn’t push. And in both cases when the girl is ready, she makes the first move, which, delightfully, is grabbing the boy and surprising him with a next-level first kiss. 

I admit it, I find the story of a man being the one who falls in love first and loves with everything he has to be a very compelling romantic story. 

Anyway I’m intrigued by both Malex and Echo and rooting for both (and admittedly hardcore shipping the later.)

Yay the Nikitaverse!!!!!! I’m glad there’s some still out there. OTP: “Mikita” MichaelxNikita oh my god Michael and Nikita are literally the cutest couple EVER!!! They’re so sweet to each other and they literally put each other through hell but still love each other. There pasts were so hard and they found each other and it is beautiful and I love them. Maggie Q’s and Shane West’s chemistry is amazing and there’s so much beauty and pain in each episode. Hands down Nikita made me cry more than any other show.

Ships:AlexXOwen I really hated Owen after what happened in THAT episode of Nikita yes all Nikita fans know THAT episode.
