one thing i love about lighter is even though it's a collab and they didn't write most of the lyrics, behind the happy vibe there is still the 5sos emotion and themes to it. references to colours being brighter (and i've said before about the use of 'black and white' and 'colourblind' in calm evolving into 'darkness turns to gold' and several other colours on 5sos5, then now there is this). like it's not just an airy pop song with lines like 'when the world is heavy as stone' 'when i'm hollow' and it's easy not to pick up on those if you're just looking for a bop to listen to even when you are listening to the lyrics--but when it's the happiest song they've put out in almost a decade (and possibly the only happy song luke has ever properly sung lead on) it's such a triumphant story that it exudes and I can't stop thinking about that

To me the “pre-fall” of any human au is the summer right before Lucifer turned 16 when they all went up to the cabin Chuck locks himself up in to write for 3 months with no interruptions and Chuck decided that him and Michael were old enough to watch the little ones on their own so they spent the whole summer sprouting freckles and getting scratched up diving into berry bushes and skinny dipping in the lake with few enough interruptions that any demand to be quieter could be made into a game or an excuse to stay out past bedtime catching fireflies

Mostly himself now, though never fully. The glitch had spread as far as possible, infecting every inch of the Pizzeria, corrupting employees the moment they signed their lives over to the Fazbear name. Through help, he'd regained more and more of his strength, his identity, his corporeality. So close to achieving his goals, so, so damn close to making sure that he always came back.

The code that holds him now - courtesy of his only remaining son's doing - is strong, stronger than him . . . For now. The glitching, spotty - formed rabbit has wrestled with the computer system since the moment he'd grown aware of his new existence trapped in this room, pushing and pulling and prying at it, but so far, it holds firm. And he's weakened enough by the efforts that trying to brute - force his way into escaping is a pointless and potentially self - destructive idea. How Michael has managed to pull this off, William may never know - and he doesn't intend to ask, either. It's bad enough he's, for once, got the upper hand over his father face - to - face: William refuses to say anything about the sheer amount of hard work this had no doubt taken. At least he'd raised a smart boy, that counts for something. Michael isn't an entire disappointment after all.

The room is small: perhaps a supply room under the Pizzaplex ? It's hard to tell. His control over the mainframe is shattered, and nothing is familiar. Except Michael, of course: there's a door behind him, but William's form halts before he can get near it. He's stuck. At least for now. Which means his son has some of the power here, which means he has to play nice.

( . . . He's so awful at playing nice. Can't even remember the last time he'd tried. )

" I DON'T SUPPOSE YOU WANT TO EXPLAIN HOW IT'S BEEN DONE ? " The glitch chances its luck, and, with a mild effort, more than it used to take, forms the appearance of Michael's father: slightly distorted, face not quite human, like a fun - house mirror that turned features blurry and made expressions unfamiliar. " AS WONDERFUL AS IT HAS BEEN TO SEE YOU, I'M SURE WE'RE BOTH VERY, VERY BUSY MEN. WHAT SAY WE BOTH WALK OUT OF HERE AND GET ON WITH THE REST OF OUR LIVES, HM ? " ( Like he'd given Michael that option when he'd sent him to Circus Baby's Pizza. Still, he has to try his luck here, right ? )
