This is my entry for @nekoannie-chan​‘s 500 followers’ writing competition. This is a Thor fanfiction series inspired on the song “Entra en mi Vida”. I had a blast writing it and I loved the song even more.

Part Two: Después de cinco minutos, ya eras alguien especial  

Mjölnir kept disappearing. But that could have been Steve's fault. Or Vision. So, that's understandable.

Then Stormbreaker kept disappearing as well. There was no Vision. And Steve had long given up his avenging days.

Both weapons came back, they always did. But Stormbreaker seemed to be adamant in taking its sweet time. Which, under any circumstances, wouldn't be a problem. Except, Thor is still an Avenger. He still has work - work that required his weapon - to do.

You were in the kitchen with Sam, arguing - like you always did - about something when Thor walked in, looking for that damned axe.

You had met a handful of times, but you tended to avoid the group as much as you could. Sam, Shadow and Hope were as far as you were willing to go, Thor had realised, and socialising with you didn't seem all too appealing to him.

Thor wasn't focusing on either of you, eyes too busy dancing around the room as he tied his hair back. The quinjet was set to leave in fifteen minutes and all that was missing from his battle attire was that cursed thing.

"This is exactly why I don't like coming here-" your complaining broke through his cloud of thought and his eyes went to you. "--seriously, Sam, you are the worst host ever. What am I supposed to do with you gone?"

Sam rolled his eyes, rolling his shoulders back a bit before attaching his wings. "Talk to people. Your favourite cyborg is staying behind, so you two can talk about those babies you wanted to give him."

You scoffed and reached over the counter for the sugar dispenser. "The love of my life is currently sulkin--"

Before you could grab the sugar, your fingers instinctively wrapped around a wooden staff. Sam, too focused on making sure he had everything he needed, missed the complete look of annoyance on your face and shock on Thor's face.

There, in your hand, was Stormbreaker. His Stormbreaker. And, instead of being confused, you sighed and tossed it aside before grabbing the sugar as you had intended to. As if nothing had happened.

"Damn thing needs a leash," you mumbled to yourself, stirring the sugar into the originally-Sam's-but-now-yours tea.

Asgard was no stranger to prophecies. And Thor had heard enough of them growing up to tell which was a farce. But this...

No...

It couldn't be...

Surely, it was a temporary glitch. It had to be.

Because a dying star couldn't have forged a King's weapon, only so an idiot could easily wield it.

It's not that Thor thought you were stupid or not worthy. It's just that he thought you were an idiot and a complete nutcase.

You put a target on your back and refused any security that Fury had to offer. You're still convinced that your Uber driver won't do you any harm. And you sleep with your bedroom window unlocked.

You were an idiot.

A complete and utter idiot.

So, why did he instantly seek out your scent whenever he breathed?

Why does the thought of you, anywhere near him, suddenly make it hard to think about anything else?

And, for the love of all that is good, why won't you look at him? Actually look at him. Not those glances and polite eye contact you share with everyone else.

There are so many prophecies, too many that weren't true and too little that were. Thor could always tell which were a farce and which weren't.

But now, he was the idiot that couldn't understand why his axe was more responsive to you, than him.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Is Fury's response to the Captain's questions.

The Avenger's Compound had been turned into the current base of operations for both the new SHIELD and the Avengers. With the exception that the Captain was the one overlooking everything, alongside Fury.

Hope didn't waste time shoving you into her car -- as always -- and dragging you to the compound with everyone else. And then, because that's never enough, they shoved you into the meeting room with everyone else, while Captain went to bring Fury.

Sighing, you lean against your chair and turn to look at Thor. The Asgardian had been sitting on the couch when you were shoved onto it, watching the whole scene unfold while he munched away on a bowl of cereal.

You eyed his outfit and frowned. "Why is it that every time I see you, you're always trying out a new look?"

He blinked at you, mid-chew with a trail of milk going from the corner of his lip into his beard.

"First, it was the whole medieval knight thing, then the carpenter look, then the whole lumberjack thing. And now--" you waved at his sweatpants, fingerless gloves and what look to be a sweater. "--you're... what is this? And why does it look so comfortable?"

"Really? You expect us to believe that SHIELD is being funded by all that money?" Sam fired back at Fury. "With all that new equipment that keeps rolling in? Do we look stupid to you, Fury?"

Fury raised an eyebrow. "You want me to answer that?"

"I will!" You jumped in, raising your hand as you tuned in. "Yes, you do look stupid. In fact, you're the reason I know what stupid looks like. And I got in an Uber without checking if it was my driver or not, this morning."

"You did what?!" Thor barked.

You rolled your eyes and waved off the man that's decided to be a pain in your ass. "Calm down, security update. I can take care of mys--

"Calm down?!" Thor tossed the bowl across the room to properly glare at you. "You are so adamant on putting your life at risk every damn chance you get! You are, arguably, the most hated person on every ex-Hydra agent's list. And you--"

You don't bother to sit through the rest of that lecture. You avoid going to the compound for that exact reason. In fact, you avoid Thor for that exact reason. The first time you met the Asgardian, he spent most of the introductions helping Fury tell you all about how you were going to live your life now -- and all the safety measures you'd have to take.

As if you hadn't been raised by one of the world's greatest sleeper agent.

"This guy, am I right?" You scoffed as you got up, consequently getting him to get up. "Who died and made him Jarvis?"

"I am speaking to you!" He is front of you, towering over you, blue eyes swimming with rage, as he glared at you.

"Carpet damn, Asgardian. Carpet damn."

Ghost, from the other side of the room, cut in. "It's Carpe diem, shithead."

"I'm freestyling, thank you very much." You shot back.

"Can we get back to the matter at hand?" Captain Flightless called out. "Thor. Please, calm down. Take a seat."

"I will not calm down nor take a seat," he glares down Mr Red, White and Break-your-brand-new-car. "Her safety is just as important as the matter. What do you think will happen if the wrong people get their hands on her? SHIELD signing a deal with her company will be the least of your worries!"

You turned at Ghost. "Is it too late to bring back Thanos? I just wanna see something..."

"You know--" Sam flicked your ear. "--if he comes back, you're gonna get dusted too, right?"

"Exactly. That way, I get to see him beat the shit out of an entitled thunder-summoning, cape-wearing, overbearing, self-proclaimed mighty asshole!" You glared at Thor, then turned back to Sam. "And then, finally see what y'all were doing as dust particles."

"Thor does have a point--" Fury cuts in, crossing his arms.

"Doesn't that leather trench coat get hot?" You point at it, because you were sure as hell not having this conversation again.

"Pierce may have been Hydra, but even he knew how messed up things would be if you were in the wrong hands--"

"You say that like I can shoot lightning bolts out of a gavel."

"It was a hammer." Thor grits out.

Fury ignores you both. "--things aren't as they used to be. The threats aren't only Thanos, Loki, or any other alien tyrant."

"That's mean. Thor isn't an alien." You feign a point.

"We need to consider the threats here, on Earth, as well." Thor ignores your jab. "Like, I've always been saying. The scale of destruction and terror that criminals could cause if they got a hold of just a small percentage of Hydra tech. Just look at what Ultron had accomplished--"

You stare blankly at the tower of a man in front of you. "You mean the computer upgrade that Tony created? With a weapon that is no longer on Earth, in this timeline? With Hydra tech from a Hydra lab, on that floating, vibranium powered island that you destroyed?"

"The point is--"

"I have lived in hiding my entire life," you narrow your eyes at the ignorant would-be-king. "Security protocols, safe houses, different identities, around-the-clock security, all of that bullshit that you're suggesting I know nothing about-- yeah, that was all I knew about. I know where every entrance and exit of every room I walk into is. I plan for an escape, before I even step foot out of my place.

"I did not come here so you can tell me how to continue living the lifestyle that I was raised to live--" You're glaring and baring your teeth and ready to rip him a new one. "--My keepers are dead. You will sooner change the nature of a cat, before you turn your little pride of vigilantes into my security detail."

He doesn't say anything. He can't. He knows better than to argue with you when you're like this; angry and on the verge of lashing out.

So, he just stares back at the idiot that won't stop haunting his every thought. The idiot that can wield a weapon he nearly died for. The idiot that won't understand why he bickers when it comes to her safety.

Sam sighs as he crashes on the couch. "At that's the tea."

'He is a perverted narcissistic sex offender': Minnesota GOP strategist paid teen girls with cash, gifts for sex, prosecutors say Ricardo Lopez, Minnesota Reformer

Anton Lazzaro, a major Minnesota GOP donor and strategist, paid teenage girls with cash, gifts and lavish meals in exchange for sex, federal prosecutors said Tuesday, arguing against his release on home detention as he awaits trial.

Lazzaro, appearing in orange jail jumpsuit, pleaded not guilty five counts of sex trafficking, three counts of obstruction, one count of attempted sex trafficking of a minor, and one count of conspiracy to sex traffick minors.

Tuesday was his first appearance since his Aug. 12 arrest and provided the most vivid details of the charges against Lazzaro, who had been a close friend of Minnesota Republican Party chair Jennifer Carnahan, who resigned from her post last week.

The lurid details in what promises to be a lengthy and ongoing story about a prominent GOP donor could continue to roil Republicans in their 2022 election efforts.

Brandon Brugger, a Minneapolis police officer who serves on a Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension task force, testified that the investigation began with a tip from a teenage girl and her family.

Brugger detailed that Lazzaro, 30, relied on Gisela Castro Medina, a 19-year-old University of St. Thomas student and chair of the College Republicans there, to recruit underage girls for him.

Brugger said the alleged victims ranged from 15- to 17 years of age, and he said Lazzaro paid them with cash, makeup, luxury handbags and vape pens.

He said Medina was paid for recruiting the girls, who were brought to his downtown Minneapolis condo at The Hotel Ivy. Brugger said Lazzaro once picked up one of the alleged victims in his Ferrari, but other times he would send a car sent by a ride-hailing app.

U.S. Attorney Laura Provinzino said Lazzaro had tried to get one of his alleged victims to sign a non-disparagement agreement in exchange for $1,000 on the day the victim and their family went to the police.

“Who asks a 16-year-old victim to sign an NDA?" Provinzino said.

Lazzaro's attorney, Zachary Lee Newland, alleged that the 16-year-old had first tried to financially blackmail Lazzaro before going to the police.

Newland also asked Brugger what the age of consent in Minnesota is, to which Brugger said 16 years old.

Brugger also testified that Medina's ex-boyfriend introduced Lazzaro to his current girlfriend, who is 19, and Lazzaro paid him $3,000 for the introduction. Lazzaro also paid Medina to tutor his girlfriend in high school algebra, according to Brugger. Newland called the tutoring a legitimate service.

Newland also pushed back by saying Lazzaro paid for the boyfriend's car repair, and that Brugger was misinterpreting that as payment for the introduction.

Lazzaro's attorney called on former GOP legislative candidate Yele-Mis Yang, who is a Lazzaro business partner, to testify on behalf of Lazzaro.

Yang said they met at a political event about six years ago and spoke highly of his business partner, who founded the property management company that Yang runs on a day-to-day basis.

Yang said he trusted Lazzaro with his life, as well as around his children, two boys who are 10 and 7. He called Lazzaro “down to earth," despite Lazzaro's flaunting of a jetsetter lifestyle on social media, where he posed with stacks of cash.

During cross examination, Provinzino noted that Yang does not have any young, teenage daughters, and she asked if he was aware that Lazzaro had a Pornhub channel called “Only Young Teens." Yang said he did not.

Some of the minor girls and their families listened to the hearing via phone conference.

Provinzino read statements from a handful of the girls and their family members.

“This is the very real and devastating result of what these evil people have done to my daughter," Provinzino said, reading a statement from the mother of alleged Victim A, who she said is suffering from PTSD, depression and anxiety.

“He is a perverted narcissistic sex offender," mother of Victim B said in a statement read in court.

Newland said Lazzaro had strong connections to the community, noting his participation in politics. He said their offer to monitor Lazzaro via internet-connected cameras installed in his home ensured he would not flee before his trial.

Provinzino also argued that the home detention plan was a way for Lazzaro to enjoy “a prison of privilege" at the Hotel Ivy.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Hildy Bowbeer ultimately ruled against allowing Lazzaro to be released on home detention, saying he had the means and ability to flee. She also said his 19th floor condo made it difficult for unannounced visits to be conducted by U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services officers.

Lazzaro's attorney also said Lazzaro expected an indictment as early as February, just two months after a search warrant was served and many of Lazzaro's items, cash and gold bars were seized. Yang testified he was aware of the raid.

Home is much more than a word

(Review of ‘Nomadland’ by Chloé Zhao)

*Warning: Contains minor spoilers*

The 2008 financial crisis has lead to many films among which quite a few are actually very memorable for their portrayal of the absurdity of the crisis’ background and mechanisms (think ‘The Big Short’, ‘Margin Call’ and ‘Inside Job’.). But apart from a few, smaller scenes in ‘The Big Short’ the films have all focused on the “bad guys” and not the everyday American. Until now. Because we have never seen a portrayal of the flipside of the 2008 recession quite like Chloé Zhao’s ‘Nomadland’. Actually, we have never seen a film quite like ‘Nomadland’ if I dare say so. Picking up six Academy Award Nominations being favourite to take home at least half of these, ‘Nomadland’ is the talk of the town in the awards season right now for all the right reasons. But this is a film that deserves and demands a much broader perspective than simply picking up awards accolades. 

Being adapted from the non-fiction book (of the same name) by Jessica Bruder, ‘Nomadland’ tells the fictional story of widower Fern. Her late partner Bo worked in the mine at US Gypsum’s facility in Empire, Nevada. But when we meet her everything has been taken away from her; her husband has died and during the recession a decreasing demand for sheetrock ultimately resulted in US Gypsum not only closing their facility but also terminating all company housing before closing the entire zip code. Desperate to cling on to the life that once was (driven by her father’s saying, ‘What’s remembered lives’) Fern stays in Empire living in her van. This places her on the path of America’s modern day nomads, who live in their vans while moving across country during the year to pick up work of very varied kinds (working in an Amazon warehouse in the run up to Christmas, sorting rocks, flipping burgers and looking after camp sites to name a few). In the span of a year we follow the fictional character of Fern as she embarks on a journey through western US making friendships, spiritual connections and unique bonds with real-life nomads on the way.

And this is where ‘Nomadland’ becomes unlike anything I have seen. Because it is not a documentary but it also doesn’t fall into the docudrama genre; it’s somewhere in between mixed with a fictional narrative. Fern’s fictional story becomes a living, breathing part of the lives of the real nomads we meet and come to admire and care for. The boundaries between Fern’s fictional character and everything else are never clear and this makes for a deeply moving, thought-provoking and quite spiritual experience that at times felt almost meditative. 

This setup only succeeds because of the visions and meticulous attention to detail from writer, director, producer and editor Chloé Zhao (nominated and hailed for all four aspects of her work). When she was led in the direction of Bruder’s book (by Frances McDormand who had bought the film rights), Zhao departed on her own journey on the road with partner and the film’s cinematographer, Joshua James Richards, to experience the lives of the nomads. This is where she initially met many of the nomads who end up playing pivotal parts in her narrative and heard the many stories of their lives and life philosophies. These stories are at the centre of a particularly touching scene around a fire as they share stories of lost jobs, mortgage loans, deaths of loved ones or terminal illness. This could point to the film being a depressive and somewhat sombre look at the many human fates in the shadows of the recession. That is, however, not the case. While the film obviously pinpoints the horrifying truth that many hard-working Americans still struggle to make enough money for a living, this is in no way the film’s main focus. Instead we get to see the joy, the community and the resilience that these people find in the midst of all the many struggles and challenges that life has thrown their way. As such ‘Nomadland’ becomes both an inspiring and beautiful tale.

As Fern, Frances McDormand is the film’s heart; she is as endearing as she is resilient as she adjusts to life on the road. McDormand is one of the finest actors around and it is difficult to imagine anyone else in this role. It says everything about her performance and commitment to the part, that Bob Wells (YouTube Star and nomad spiritual guide), who stars as himself, apparently didn’t realise she was an actor before after their scenes. This is a testament to McDormand’s humble way of engaging with the film’s non-actors. It feels real, it feels naturalistic and it feels sincere, and I actually think that it feels so, because it is so. And as such, McDormand’s acting is unlike anything I have seen before too. You get the feeling that she (as Fern) simply build relations with these people as equals; their dialogues feel real and, thus, their emotional connection becomes real too. David Strathairn is the film’s only other professional actor as the character, Dave, who plays a part in the second development in Fern’s character (apart from familiarising with nomad life): moving on from Bo without letting go of what was. Their chemistry is very natural and Strathairn could easily have come across as yet another “real character” if you were not paying attention. The way their relation develops is refreshing and very telling.

The film, however, belongs to the titular characters of the nomads of modern America. It would be wrong to say that they give good performances, because they do not perform; they simply are. Instead I will call them interesting and inspirational human beings. Among the many people we meet, I would like to highlight three: Linda May, Swankie and Derek. Each representing three different aspects of nomad lives, they each feature in three of the scenes that have really stayed with me. Linda May becomes Fern’s guide and confidant when introduced to the nomad life and you quickly come to care for her and as such her story of hitting rock bottom strikes really hard. Swankie is a powerhouse with whom Fern shares quite a few scenes that causes both laughs and pensiveness. When Swankie in a quiet moment with Fern tells an uplifting story of how good a life she has had despite all the hardship she has seen, it is one of the finest scenes of the year. In the scene, that Fern shares with Derek, a young man who she met briefly in an early scene, it is something completely different; Derek’s story inspires Fern to recite Shakespeare’s 18th Sonnet: “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?”. 

A scene and recitation that is complemented by simply stunning magic-hour imagery by Richards, who throughout the film manages to not only capture the magic and tranquility of the western US but also the ‘endlessness’ that lies in these rocky, sandy surroundings. But his work in the human-centred scenes are not to be overlooked either. He manages to put us as viewers right in the middle of the relations, the conversations and the solitude of the vans. As such we get to explore this life by ourselves and I hope with all of my film-loving heart that I will get the opportunity to see this film on the big screen, because that’s really where it belongs. The sound work supports Richards’ mission and the exquisite music by Ludovico Einaudi heightens his panning compositions of the landscapes.

In the end we have to return to Chloé Zhao, though, because no Zhao, no ‘Nomadland’. She adapted Bruder’s story for the screen, she directed the two actors and allowed the real life people to simply be and she edited it all. It is Zhao who nurtured the grounds for ‘Nomadland’ to grow into what it has become: a living, breathing entity on its own. It might be criticised for not diving into the absurdity of the American financial system and the way it (mis)distributes the wealth, but that would be a narrow-minded stance in my opinion. ‘Nomadland’ exists in the shadows of this reality; just as the people whose story it tells. Instead of focusing on what got them there or what might have changed their opportunities it gives them a voice by showing the value, the joy and the power of their lifestyle. The borders between fact and fiction might be blurry or even invisible, but that is where the true beauty of Zhao’s film lies: it lives!

In the offices of Liam Payne's management company, just north of Soho in central London, there's a bottle of Bacardi inscribed with his name.

It was sent as a gift, after the singer immortalised the drink in his hit single Strip That Down. According to the lyrics, which he co-wrote with Ed Sheeran, he mixes it with Coke and "sips it lightly".

There's just one small snag, says Payne: "I don't think I've ever drunk Bacardi".

"When I was younger, I went straight in on the whisky," the star says. "I tend to pick my poison early, then I stick with it until it bores me."

In fact, shortly after Strip That Down was released in 2017, Payne gave up drinking altogether after his lifestyle became "a cause for concern".

"There were a couple of very dark years of me going through extreme peril with different mental health things," says the 26-year-old. "I just didn't know where I was going to end up."

'Reset button'

His drinking started to get out of hand while he was on tour with One Direction - the hotel mini-bar becoming a source of solace as he came down from the adrenalin high of playing for 80,000 screaming fans.

But even when the band went on hiatus, the habit continued. "It was very erratic behaviour on my part - I was partying too hard," says the star, who'd always been cast as the "sensible" member of 1D.

"It was a tough little time. My family were very worried."

Eventually, there came a point "where I realised I needed to hit the reset button and take a break," he says.

"I was coming off the back-end of a break-up, so I was dealing with all sorts of emotions that I hadn't dealt with in a long time because I was always covering them up - heartbreak, nerves, all sorts of things. I'd gotten too used to this rhythm of life; of using alcohol and different things to mask my feelings, or get me through. So I just needed to prove to myself that [drinking] wasn't the issue for me."

'Success gets the better of you'

Is that why it took two years to translate the success of Strip That Down into a debut album?

Actually, no. It was that song's phenomenal, and unexpected, performance (it's still the biggest-selling solo song by any of the former One Directioners) that threw Payne's plans into disarray.

"Strip That Down was such an amazing thing to happen - but sometimes success gets the better of you," he says.

"It took the best part of nine months to get to number one in America - and for that whole period, people wouldn't put any other songs on the radio. So it was a really weird time. We got stuck with one song for so long that it really prolonged the process of making the album".

It was especially strange for someone who was used to writing and recording entire albums in six weeks or less.

"Writing for One Direction was a different process because you knew what the kids wanted," says the star, who co-wrote about 50% of the band's last two albums.

"I love those songs - don't get me wrong - but I knew why I was writing them and I knew what I was writing them for."

Ultimately, Payne realised that getting more time to work on his debut album was "a luxury" and he allowed himself to "sit back and enjoy the process for once".

Recording sessions took place around the world, with A-listers like Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder and Charlie Puth. In total, the album credits a staggering 72 composers - and Payne likens the writing process to "speed dating".

"Sometimes it was difficult because I'd get one or two days in the studio with someone that I don't know and I didn't really want to share an awful lot of private stuff with them," he says. "It's almost like the first day of school every day."

His experiences in One Direction helped him be more assertive during sessions; and he turns out to be a studio geek, marvelling at piano sound on Selena Gomez's Lose You To Love Me, ("they've recorded it so close, you can hear the hammer hitting the strings") and the textural painting in Billie Eilish's Everything I Wanted ("when she sings 'I'm underwater'and they tweak her vocal so it sounds like she's disappearing, it's like Disneyland").

But as the album came together, he gravitated towards the albums he grew up with - Usher's 8701, Justin Timberlake's Justified and Chris Brown's self-titled debut - shaping his solo career around a sleek, efficient brand of R&B.

There's a thread of sadness running through the album - "Heart meet break, lips meet drink / Rock meet bottom, to the bottom I sink," he sings at one point - informed by his recurring bouts of depression, (...).

"I'm an absolute expert on heartbreak, it would seem," he says. "I think, for me, it was easier to write from a sad place, because the feelings were a little bit more raw. Happiness is hard to fathom, I think."

My sexuality is not your fetish'

But it's one of the album's more explicit songs that generated headlines - and for all the wrong reasons.

Both Ways is a late-night slow jam that details a sexual encounter with two women. "My girl, she like it both ways," Payne sings over a ringing trap beat. "She like the way it all taste / Couple more, we'll call it foreplay / No, no, I don't discriminate."

Within hours of its release last week, the track was being criticised for reinforcing harmful stereotypes that bisexual women's sexualities exist for the gratification of men - a fetishisation that can have violent, real-world consequences.

So far, Payne hasn't responded - but when we spoke last month, before the furore erupted, he said Both Ways was his "favourite song" on the record.

In his explanation, the lyrics are about being open to new experiences and different sexualities, as we emerge into a new "world of 'love is love' and people becoming much more understanding about the way love is - and rightly so".

Payne indicated that the song had originated with one of his co-writers, adding: "I don't know who in the studio had actually been in this situation, because I certainly haven't, but it was an interesting song to write."

Whether or not he addresses the criticism, the song is a blot on his copybook; and a rare mis-step for a singer who's always strived to be on the right side of public opinion.

For a self-confessed perfectionist, its bound to sting; but several times during our discussion, Payne says he's trying to learn from his mistakes, rather than punish himself for making them in the first place.

"My life is super-complicated," he says. "(...) and all sorts of different things kicking off, so I have to drill these messages into my head."

All things considered, would he prefer not to have auditioned for the X Factor all those years ago?

"I wouldn't change it," he says decisively. "I know it's where I'm supposed to be in the world now.

"I was very confused about fame when it all happened; and learning to be a person outside of your job was difficult. But now I feel like I get it. I'm a lucky boy."

Living together in the forest, learning magic, appreciating nature, appreciating each other, very much in love

Together until the end of the line, no breaking the bond they have built

Cain is calm and level-headed and has a much subtler way of showing affection, so he’s a very grounding influence on Mercer which he can appreciate. Cain realized through Mercer how nice it is to be openly and unashamedly loved and how good it is to share everything nice in your life. Both are also very passionate about their interests and good listeners, eager to learn and support

6. Which traits does each person find annoying in the other? 

Mercer can be loud, brash, lose focus (makes things like meditating hard), he’s needier than Cain attention-wise so sometimes Cain just gotta ask to be left alone for a moment (Mercer doesn’t mind that at all, he gets it). For Mercer, Cain is a slower teacher who takes his time introducing Mercer to magic and its aspects, so Mercer can get frustrated bc he wants to learn how to make lightning already

7. How often do they see each other? How often do they talk to each other?

They see each other pretty much every day, if not the whole day then at the very least they spend the night together most of the time. Rarely the other goes on a longer trip and might be away overnight or a couple of nights, but still sends birds to the lover to reassure everything’s okay

8. Could they live together easily? Why/why not? 

Not in a city but both really enjoy their nomadic lifestyle and each other’s company so the way they have is good for them

9. How much physical contact would these characters have with each other? 

Oh a lot. And with Mercer’s wooden arm he gets to finally give Cain some good hugs, hold his hand more and even do his hair if he allows. Mercer is more touchy-feely and Cain doesn’t mind it most of the time. Also cuddled up is the best way to sleep

10. What would they get for each other as birthday gifts? 

They don’t really give gifts, especially when living together. Earlier Mercer would always bring sweets from the city when he went to the forest to see Cain but now they probably don’t even celebrate birthdays.

Cameron is rowdier and took Max along during high school days, nowadays she doesn’t have much time but supports him wholeheartedly

Probably have gone before, city holidays and/or beaches especially after top surgery are great

Ask about it, offer to bring snacks, offer a shoulder to lean on, offer advice if they have some or solutions, just be there and present and ready to help if asked

Anything really, they’d let the other live with them, borrow money if needed, borrow clothes or makeup or whatever, mi casa es su casa

When Nevan came crawling back Max told her no of her own volition but Cameron would also have told her to tell Nev to fuck right off. But Max didn’t listen to him before when it came to that woman

Cameron always told Max to dump Nevan (and she did a couple of times but in the end it was Nev who ended that farce). Max told Cameron to be straightforward with his feelings towards Jules bc she could see how much it was dragging him down after years of pining

Krea is aromantic and doesn’t date, but he does love Shae with all he has in his own way, so idk how Trias feels about that. He wouldn’t want Trias to be in love with himself either.

Both associate with Remy, Krea is definitely not his friend though. He tangentially associates with Shyn too by letting her kill evildoers. Qizare is a friend of them both, Vastravia loves Krea and... Trias not so much. Tolerates her if anything. Vosgi doesn’t like her, Jun is neutralish, a bit negative. Shae likes Trias more than you’d think but is also careful about getting too close.

Krea doesn’t like any of Trias’s friends except for Kiki.
