Some things I noticed during the latest chapter (256)

Finally another things I noticed! It’s been a while - then again, I doubt anyone really missed my rambling. These are a lot of fun to do though, so without further ado - let us begin!

The boyfriends are back! I’m really feeling Tamaki’s outfit in these. Also it’s just great to see them again.

Is it just me or did he actually improve his social anxiety a bit for being able to speak so directly to Aizawa? I mean Mirio is right there, he could also have said nothing and let him do the talking. 

Oh. My. Good! Look at those toys in the background! They’re adorable (and a bit scary). I wonder if this room was made for Eri specifically, I’m not sure if its.... fitting for the students otherwise. Can I also just say that I really like the big three basically having adopted Eri as well? It’s cute.

Dadzawa has returned.

On a very different note! Mina! Ew! But also yey! It’s a cool special move, but also looks disgusting. And poor Aoyama still gets hurt by his own quirk.

But he too came up with a new move! Well done!

Also can we just appreciate this panel below? Is Sato drooling? Did he make the cotton candy? Why does Toky look so adorable here? Didn’t Sero get one too? 

We also get more confirmation that Hagakure’s quirk isn’t actually invisibility, but light manipulation. Also how can she look so badass with just... gloves? 

Do you know what is something that I never understood? How tf she placed above Izuku in that first quirk sports test Aizawa put them through. Because I do not see how her quirk helped her at all with any of the tasks and we know from later on (a panel where she trains) that she is not very physically fit. Izuku on the other hand had trained hours on end before entering UA and was in top physical condition + he at least once scored very high with the ball throwing. So how on earth did he score below her???? (yeah plot, of course, but come one!)

Isn’t her acid like... dangerous? Shoudl she just shake it all over the place? Also Toruu and her wild gesticulation is a mood. Poor Aoyama though.

Look at Mina’s lil tongue. Look at how Kiri is about to burst with happiness. Look how dumbfounded he is at first. I love their friendship so much!

Supportive Iida is supportive! Also I love hearing about who they interned with (though I wished we actually... you know... had seen some of it?). Also Momo looks so majestic in her cloak. Might I also draw your attention to the fact that we do not see Toky in this? He’s supposed to be standing somewhere between Satou and Denki afterall. Maybe he was further to the back, but still, wouldn’t we be able to see some of his head at least? Unless, that is, he’s actually too small.

Wait did Ojirou change up his hero outfir abit? I don’t think those gloves were there before, were they? I am so happy to see my tail boy again, it’s been so long. Also that pro hero looks fierce af!

Yes! Gang Orca is back! And Jirou and Shouji together? Amazing! I never imagined them being friends much but now I find I actually really, really like the idea.

Chapter 256: In which All Might gets left behind *sob*

Before it’s sad, there’s a nice callback to All Might’s Japanese-equivalent-of-a-dad-joke from Chapter 253.

Everyone’s pointing out how adorable the interaction between Kirishima and Ashido was, so I’ll skip that. There’s some nice support between the male and female members of Class 1-A in this chapter, though. They’re helping each other grow.

Also, we get a glimpse of one of my faves: Gang Orca. Unfortunately, it looks like Shoji and Jiro lack discipline.

Finally, it seems that the Big Three have been tasked with babysitting Eri. What will happen when they graduate? (Someone please write the fic where Todoroki, Bakugou, and Midoriya have to pick up the slack 🙏.)

Tamaki’s so agitated he speaks without prompting. Also, did he get a haircut?

I’m still hoping that Bakugou and Midoriya collectively become the “greatest” hero(es), so I like these little scenes that show us how intentional All Might is about linking the two boys together. Granted, there’s no way Bakugou would allow himself to be left out, but there’s still a touching dynamic between All Might and his would-be (will-be?) successors.

Okay, so I’m a Tododeku person, right? But if I’d be lying if I said that I don’t love Ochako and Izuku’s interactions.

Like, they support and inspire each other so much! It’s obvious that they mean a lot to each other and I really like close friendships! I wish Ochako got more development outside of her crush on Izuku, but that fistbump that they had in chapter 256? I’m thriving. Their relationship just means a lot to me, okay? If I didn’t love Tododeku so much, I’d be completely on board with Izuocha, and I hope that people who ship Izuocha are having a swell day!

But you know what else would be swell? *cocks gun at horikoshi* Letting Tenya be important again! Because he is also Izuku and Ochako’s friend and a great person with so many amazing qualities and doesn’t deserve to be left out of stuff.

Pair of them can’t even think about anything right after that encounter, and they’re talking about eating like it’s something they’ve forgotten about entirely. Mic: So…what do we do now? Aizawa: I dunno…have food, I guess? Mic, oh yeah… that… Both:…..

7) “Oh what the hell I though- Alright, not the kids, it`s actually their parents, and they are back from a fairly horribly school reunion- now that I think about it, are we still doing those? Oof, I certainly don`t want to meet the people I studied with, oh thank you but no.”- The fact both are cottoning onto the fact that the Commission are intentionally training their students in preparation for some big event and that it’s likely tied to whatever’s been done to their old friend is a good indication of their intelligence, but at the same time it must be uber-frustrating for them to know something bad is coming that will likely be involving their students directly and not be able to prepare them more adequately or know when shit hits the fan and it’s crunch time. Though in fairness, the villains have also been pretty vague about the specifics of the plan on their end as well. It seems to mainly be: 1: Assemble forces

2: Enhance Tomura

3: Destroy(???) everything 4) Profit.

Alright, the translation was a little weird so far and I let it slide, but this right here- this is where I drawn the line, this one is far too weird for me to ignore, what the hell was that? Unless that`s some new euphemism for killing and maiming and destroying and obliterating everyone involved in those experiments that I wasn`t aware of.”- The official translation isn’t exactly much better, but as I understand it, similar to Ectoplasm, Mic’s powers being based around his voice means that his quirks gets stronger and more destructive the more his vocal cords are warmed up, so having a karaoke contest actually means he’s ready and amped to do something crazy with his powers. The rest of the sentence seems to be trying to say ‘then I’d take my boiling anger and make something outta it’ with probably a pun or two in there, but yeah, Mic is basically saying he’d go get warmed up, find the guys and then yell up close and personal with them until their heads exploded

9) “oh my god- Okay it seems like her horn is so charged up that it`s starting to physically hurt. Okay, well, oh boy this might be a bit troublesome… Can we bring her to Kurogiri and let her unleash all that power to turn him back? Would that work? God I hope so.”-Eri’s power being a guaranteed cure-all/reset button means that we now have a prime Chekhov’s gun loaded and ready for use, meaning we’re eventually gonna be in a situation where we need her power…the only issue is ‘what kind of situation would require such a risky gamble with an ability that might erase us?’…. 10) “Yeah don`t worry kiddo, your pa is here, and he`ll make sure you stay safe. He`ll find a way to deal with this thing, rest assured.”- I love the little hair rise as he activates his quirk to suppress hers, and immediately gives her a headpat to reassure her that physical contact isn’t something she needs to fear with others even if her quirk is ready for use again. Aizawa good dad. 11) “Alright, okay, so All Might called them to talk about their amazing progress so far. That`s the stuff All Might, don`t let Aizawa hog the spotlight of best dad, you make sure he has to work for that tittle, don`t let him go without a fight”- For once, All Might is the guy struggling to apply a skillset that he’s not naturally used to, and Aizawa is the one pulling ahead effortlessly by dint of his natural aptitude and existing skillset. All Might’s got a tough competition ahead of him. 12) “OH WAIT
