Started on building and painting this MG GN-XIII (A-Laws Version) that I bought last week; wanted to make a distressed-looking MS so I also decided to get a Tamiya Weathering Palette to try weathering other than drybrushing.

Concrete Elegance: A Palette of Possibilities with Concrete Floor Paint
Concrete flooring, which was long restricted to industrial settings, basements, and garages, has experienced a transformation in the realm of interior design. Concrete surfaces have evolved from functional surfaces to a canvas for creativity, especially when ornamented with the correct concrete floor paint. We delve into the various options given by concrete surface paint in this examination of concrete elegance, focusing on its transformational impact in areas such as garages, walkways, patios, and beyond.
The World of Concrete Coatings Revealed
Concrete coatings have emerged as unsung heroes of home remodeling, giving not only cosmetic benefits but also tough protection. Rust Bullet, one of the industry's top players, introduces DuraGrade Concrete, a high-performance coating that expands the possibilities of concrete surfaces. DuraGrade Concrete stands out because it is a coating that can be applied directly to concrete surfaces without the requirement for acid etching.
DuraGrade Concrete: Beauty and Brawn in Every Stroke
Imagine a concrete floor that is both visually appealing and long-lasting—DuraGrade Concrete provides both. This superb protective coating removes the need for acid etching while also providing excellent adhesion, scratch, chip, chemical, and UV resistance. It's a true workhorse, requiring no priming, basecoat, or topcoat, making application quick and easy.
Color Your World: A Palette of Options
DuraGrade Concrete is a celebration of color as well as protection. The palette is extensive, with 18 standard colors and the ability to create bespoke colors, allowing you to select hues that fit your style and environment. DuraGrade Concrete's gorgeous gloss surface brings your vision to life, whether it's a sleek grey aluminum or a lively bespoke tint.
Decorative Flakes: Adding a Splash of Color
DuraGrade Concrete is compatible with ornamental flakes for individuals looking for a touch of individuality. With the addition of these flakes, you may transform your concrete floor into a textured and visually appealing surface. Topcoat the floor with DuraGrade Clear, a rust-inhibiting clear coat that also serves as a suggested concrete clear finish sealer, to seal the flakes in and increase durability.
Performance That Speaks for Itself
DuraGrade Concrete not only promises but also delivers. With performance testing results that exceed industry norms, let the data speak for themselves. This coating is resistant to wear and tear, with a taber abrasion score of 38 mg/10,000 cycles and impact resistance exceeding 40 inches. The mandrel bend test demonstrates flexibility without cracking, and the pull-off adhesion bond strength test confirms an exceedingly strong bond.
The Original Rust Bullet for Concrete
Rust Bullet for Concrete is the original in the world of concrete coatings, setting the benchmark for metallic grey perfection. Rust Bullet for Concrete has a classic appearance and can be improved with decorative flakes to add a personalized touch to your concrete surfaces.
DuraGrade Clear: The Multipurpose Rust Inhibitor
DuraGrade Clear is more than just a clear coat; it's also a flexible rust inhibitor that complements Rust Bullet and other concrete coatings. This ultra-low-VOC solution is environmentally friendly. It can be applied directly to metal, concrete, and wood due to its exceptional adhesion, corrosion protection, and abrasion resistance. DuraGrade Clear shines as a solo coating or topcoat for indoor and outdoor surfaces, exhibiting scratch, chip, chemical, and UV resistance. Rust Bullet's ornamental flakes and anti-skid choices add to its versatility. Performance testing has confirmed its longevity, making it the suggested concrete clear coat sealer for people who demand both beauty and utility.
Applications and Beyond Aesthetics
Concrete elegance is not limited to a single location. DuraGrade Concrete and Rust Bullet for Concrete are excellent choices for garage floors, sidewalks, patios, and other indoor and outdoor surfaces. The beauty of these coatings comes not only from their aesthetic merits but also from their capacity to guard against hot tire pick-up, ensuring longevity and endurance.
The choices we make in the field of home remodeling should not only increase the visual attractiveness of our homes but also contribute to their lifespan. DuraGrade Concrete and Rust Bullet for Concrete give you the tools you need to do just that, with concrete floor paint that transforms ordinary surfaces into spectacular expressions of elegance.
Remember that concrete elegance is a timeless expression of style and resilience as you go on your adventure to alter your spaces. Choose coatings that not only color your environment but also protect it with the strength it deserves. Elevate your space with solid elegance, where beauty and brawn coexist harmoniously.

Dollhouse Plans
So I’m currently in the process of doing a major reno to my super messy and dysfunctional dollhouse. I want to actually devote some time and money into it this time around, because I did not have those things a few years ago (circa 14 year old Forrest, poor and struggling with geometry or whatever). Especially now when I’ve just got a fancy new job that pays loads more than my previous one!
I’ve renovated this thing countless times in nine years, even moving houses at one point. Right now, however, it’s really just a bunch of shelves with shit on them. I am going to put away and organize all the doll stuff I have once I order new shelves (with double the depth!) and actually figure out how to put them up without the help of a power drill because my old one apparently grew legs and walked off to somewhere with a cheaper mortgage. He will be missed.
Left is how it looks now and right is my future plans, including future dolls I wanna buy to fill out the space.
Right now my wishlist is Josefina, Addy, and Ivy (prayers that I’ll find her for a decent price on eBay and not dig myself a 400$ hole I’ll never crawl out of). Possibly Kaya? Or maybe a blonde doll? The possibilities are endless. All I know is every room is going to sleep two dolls, with the exception of the extra bedroom to the left of Izzy and Addy. I don’t know why I’ll need an extra bedroom in a house made for vinyl shits with no real friends, I just like to have options.
Now, everything in the picture is probably going to be given away/thrown out with the exception of the daybed on the first floor (currently Izzy and Marie-Grace’s room [I don’t want MG in the dollhouse because I’ve grown accustomed to her chilling on a shelf next to my desk and I fear God will smite me down if I move her from her special spot]), the jewelry box/dresser next to the daybed, the yellow dresser in the room next to it, the shower on the third floor (currently the bathroom), the little red console thingy with drawers on the second floor (currently the mudroom? I don’t know what the fuck that room is), and a few more accessories/minor furniture pieces. Everything made of cardboard will be thrown out, the OG kitchen set and pink bed on the first floor will be given away so hopefully another little doll-obsessed fuck gets to use them for their own dysfunctional dollhouse. The pink organizer thingy on the third floor dressing room will be used by my mother to keep her notes in line or some shit idk she just called dibs. I’m also keeping all the mirrors. Those were expensive.
Now, as for what I’ll put in each renovated room:
Addy and Izzy’s room:
They’ll both share the daybed, in addition to the jewelry box/dresser. Their bedroom will remain relatively unchanged compared to the other ones, save for it being moved two floors up. I’ll keep the wallpaper cardboard strip because I like the pattern, and paint the wall adjacent to it. They’ll be getting new posters and a new nightstand, I just haven’t picked one out yet. Maybe the smaller yellow dresser? Yellow goes good with pink.
Extra Bedroom:
Hopefully I’ll be able to get Kit’s bed and desk for a reasonable price on eBay. I just love her furniture so much. Since the space is so small, I think that’s about all I’ll be able to fit. Maybe a dog bed if I have additional space.
Josefina and Unnamed Doll’s Bedroom:
They’ll be sharing the camp bunkbed from American Girl and this cute cabinet/nightstand I found on Google. I don’t know if it’s from American Girl or not because I’ve never seen it before, I just like it a lot. I also found a cute wardrobe for them that matches the nightstand. I think I’ll keep the doors open and put the nightstand in front of one of them, holding it open and letting their clothes be out on display. Also, a vintage-looking chair. I think it’ll be cute with some clothes piled on it to make it look lived-in.
Saige and Ivy’s Bedroom:
They’ll be sharing the Pleasant Company bunkbed with the red console with drawers at the foot of it, and hopefully I’ll get Samantha’s wardrobe chest for a good price!! I think the mismatched aesthetic will be perfect for those two. I also wanna get the Art Class set from AG for Saige, and the Xbox set for them both.
The Bathroom:
Unchanged, save for me moving it two floors down and adding the bubble bathtub thing from AG. I kinda like the bathroom the way it is now, just needs to be cleaned up a little.
The Kitchen, Living Room, and Dining Room:
As I said before, I wanna give away the OG kitchen set, hopefully in favor for the My Life kitchen set because I think the blue color palette is a lot less obnoxious than the pink. Who even has a pink kitchen?? In addition, I wanna get the Tea Time set from AG as a dining table, and a couch from Etsy for the living room. I haven’t picked exactly which one I want yet. Storage is also a bit of a concern for me, so I also wanna look for a potential shelving unit to go into the kitchen/dining area for storing plates and warm food items. As for an entertainment center… Maryellen’s TV Console I’m looking Directly At You. I think it’ll be really funny for Ivy or Saige to be playing Xbox on a TV from the fifties.
Im gonna cover the carpet on the first floor with something hard, definitely. Carpet in the kitchen and bathroom?? A nightmare.
And yeah that’s about is as of now. Things are due to change as I make adjustments to my budget and floor plan, so I’ll keep updating as I start the reno. Hopefully I’ll get the dollhouse of my dreams at the end of this because my vinyl shits DESERVE IT.

[Image Description: first image: a watercolor painting of a hand study, holding a spring of pink foxglove over a tan wooden table. In the upper left corner is a cellphone with a blue case showing a photograph of a hand. Above the photo is a Breaking News notification, splotched with purple and green gouache. In the upper right quadrant are two pill bottles: one white and labeled Aripirazole 10mg, the other orange and labeled "Lamotrigine 100 mg". Both bottles have the name Cade, and the addresses are given as "Baltimore, The Earth". Directly behind the bottles is a watercolor paint set with a colorful and messy palette. In the lower right quadrant amid all the empty tan are the words "Seeking a cure for isolation and boredom in the end of the world" in cursive, a fake deep way of saying I was so bored by social distancing that I drew and painted a hand.
The second and third images are merely close ups on the left half and right half, respectively. End ID]

Skater Boy Lotus - Painting 2022
So it’s been a long time that I have painted a large format painting on canvas. I remember the last time I painted an 8 foot tall Evil Red Bunny during the Bush Iraq War years in the early nighties. It was 26 years ago and I finished It in Florida at an insane time in my life. I ended up throwing the painting away. I think for me it gave a negative vibe that I had a 8 foot devil in my house.
During my years at MICA, (Maryland Institute, College of Art) I would have large figure studio paintings, large charcoal wall drawings, large intense realism paintings and other large format pieces. At the time, I was smoking a lot. I would inevitably smoke a pack of cigarettes in front of a large blank newly gessoed canvas and contemplate my first steps.
My senior year, I had to produce a body of work for my final senior studio class in Drawing. Although I started the pieces with charcoal rubbing the charcoal around a masonite board, I would inevitably finish the work with acrylic paint and oil washes and pigments. I would approach the work without any foreseen goal but for this time, I found figurative elements within the charcoal washes like looking at clouds and finding faces or Rubenesque bodies. Most of the work was psychotically dark with nude figures in agonizing poses. Maybe the work was looking to the future to the days I lived stressfully in Florida between 1993 and 2000.
I started the Big Red Bunny piece at the tail end of my senior year at MICA and in 1996 finally finished it and hung I in my studio at my home in Gulfport, FL, on the bayside of St.Pete beach.
This past March during my break from teaching, I quit smoking. A thirty year habit started in art school. I quit on March 2nd which was the beginning of lent and a day before my 51st birthday.
Two years earlier, I had purchased some stretchers in the hopes of painting again. But I had gotten so busy and just pushed the idea out of my mind. Anyway the stretchers that I had purchased from Black Art in Providence wasn’t big enough for what I wanted and in January during a trip to NYC, we stopped in New Haven and I bought a six foot wide stretcher by four and half feet tall.
During my break, I put the stretcher together and stretched canvas that was already gessoed onto it. I brought the canvas into my garage to paint.
Staring at the canvas, I was so tempted to go down the street and buy a pack of Marlboro Lights, my usual brand, and smoke the pack before I even started painting. Instead, I took a 4 mg mini lozenge and my trusty 21 mg nicotene patch and started.
At first, I made a gesture. I did not want to preplan this painting and just enjoy the feel of paint and color. I used Sherwin Williams Latex house paint first. It is drippy and wet and I did not mix much. (I had quarts of this paint for a commission I did years ago on paper.) I made the gesture to break up the composition and give a focal point.
I purchased more colors of latex to continue the palette. But latex also drys matte sometimes and I really wanted a more thick glossy feeling.
I had also purchased some oil paints and I began incorporating that into the painting and adding a yellowish white wash to the work. I also enhanced the lotus-like feel of the “leaves” making a pattern effect.
I started to see a cartoon-like face with sun glasses facing the right of the canvas and I started to enhance it subtly.
SKATER BOY LOTUS
In the end, I added more lines of color and created the forehead and back of the head of the cartoon. It looks like a lotus but it also looks like a cartoon character like the Road Runner with glasses. I call it “Skater Boy Lotus”
It felt good to paint again and I plan on painting more this summer!

MG 1/100 GN-XIII A-LAWS Type
Finished painting and building my latest Gunpla project (and something I've been looking forward to doing for about a decade or so), the GN-XIII!
I wanted to have it so that it looked as though it went through several battles without much in the way of external maintenance, so I opted to get the paint colours (once again, by Mr Hobby) for the base grey sections, and drybrush it onto the coloured and white portions to simulated edge wear and paint chipping. There were also some sections on the mechanical frame that I painted with silver and gold to break the monotony of the inner frame up
The bulk of the weathering of the white sections were done using Tamiya's Weathering Master Palette (in this case, Palette F including Titanium, Light Gunmetal, and Copper), where I used it to simulate the dirtying of the coloured sections. Copper was especially helpful in making a GN Tau particle burn-in effect on the GN Drive cover and anywhere with GN Particle output (thrusters, weapon barrels).
After the weathering and decal placements (including several from a UC:0087 decal sheet since I wanted to customise the decal layout a little bit) were done, everything was sealed with Mr Hobby Smooth and Clear Matte topcoat and it's done!

VA-11 Hall-A: Cyperpunk Bartender Action (2016, PC)
Video games are typically about heroes.
This is mostly out of necessity. No one wants to play a third-person going-to-school simulator (okay, maybe Persona attracts a certain audience.) They’re inherently escapist art. We want to be a paladin, or the Hero of Time, or anyone other than ourselves when we pick up that controller and stare at the screen.
It’s also a design decision. Action keeps players interested in a game, and creates more definite objectives. “Go there and fetch the ring” is much easier to program than “Conquer the fear of abandonment rooted in your childhood,” and it’s also easier for players to understand. That cycle of risk, goal, and reward is the most foundational element of game design.
VA-11 Hall-A is a bartending simulator. You do not play a hero, and it has very little of those core gameplay elements; what is there is extremely simple and serves the purpose of telling its story. Calling it a game feels sort of wrong, but so does calling it a bartending simulator; it is instead one of the latest in a great lineage of games that have existed on both the fringe of the genre’s definition and of public appreciation.
The visual novel genre is a uniquely Japanese phenomenon, a sort of digital choose your own adventure novel. There may be branching narrative paths, menial resource management or role-playing game elements, but most of it is just you clicking the text forward. Americans flirted with this a bit with our Leisure Suit Larrys and our Mysts, but those games still focused on puzzle-solving over story.
Perhaps the most famous example is Snatcher, one of the first pre-internet visual novels to arrive on American soil. Directed by the venerable Hideo Kojima, its story of robots assuming human identities obviously borrows from Blade Runner. First released for Japanese-only computers in 1988, it was released here in 1994, right before the dawn of the 3D action game. Naturally, it received very little attention, as did Kojima until he directed a little-known indie game called Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action.
VA-11 Hall-A doesn’t just riff of of MGS’ subtitle; its developers have clearly followed Kojima since his earliest days.
The most obvious influence lies in the game’s setting and aesthetic. VA-11 Hall-A is set in “the year 20XX”, in a dystopian pixelscape called Glitch City. Here corporations and government are interchangeable, lifelike robots called lilim mingle with humans and nanomachines bury themselves into human flesh to keep dissenters in check. It’s a dark but gorgeous setting, a rusty jungle of pink and purple neon and flashing lights. It’s all portrayed through colorful pixel art and one of the best video game soundtracks in years, a mashup of vaporwave, cyberpunk, and anime influences.
youtube
Such a setting lends itself to stories like those of Snatcher, where you play an elite detective diving into the city’s seedy underbelly. VA-11 Hall-A takes a different tack: you play a twenty-something bartender named Jill who works at a dingy dive bar in a back alley. Her story has a journey - one of forgiveness and redemption - but as the player, your only goal is to serve drinks correctly and pay rent.
Your customers are what give the game its true color There’s Dorothy, a childlike lilim sex worker with a raunchy sense of humor; Alma, a tenderhearted hacker at the center of ever-present family drama; Donovan, a misogynistic but strangely endearing newspaper editor; Art, a mild-mannered private investigator. Jill also has a complicated relationship with her boss, Dana, and mysterious co-worker Gil.
Save for one particular character, most of the stories you hear are far from heroic. One patron finds joy in helping the poor around “Mega Christmas,” while another drinks to cope with his long-lost daughter. It’s not all sentimental: VA-11 Hall-A does embrace the wacky absurdity of its anime heritage. There are talking dogs, robotic catgirls, plenty of fan service, even a daimakura (those creepy body pillows you see in cringe compilations.) The goofiness juxtaposed with the dreary setting and frequent sob stories is captivating.
It’s also surprisingly profound. VA-11 Hall-A‘s developers are from Venezuela, where a corrupt socialist regime has cracked down on civil rights and mismanaged the economy. Anecdotes in the game reflect that reality: a mysterious hacker exposing government corruption, characters waiting in line for flour rations, an independent newspaper turning to shallow journalism for fear of government reprisal. Similar to the regine in North Korea, it’s easy to forget that under cartoonish dictatorships are real people who struggle to maintain their families and friendships.
My boy George R. R. Martin said it best in A Game of Thrones:
“’The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends,’ Ser Jorah told her. ‘It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace.’ He gave a shrug. ‘They never are.’”
Art about “normal people” is not new. Early modern art was a reaction to paintings of gods and kings, an effort to find heartbreak and joy in the lives of common people. Musicians, too, have largely turned from bardic tales of epic voyages to songs about universal emotions: love, loss, and hope. While games have had a broad emotional palette for years, it’s rare that they’re mined from people not on a quest, or fulfilling a destiny, or serving a greater cause.
The men and women of VA-11 Hall-A just want to be happy, fate and feats of heroism be damned. Though you learn a lot about their world by interacting with them, you never find the solution to its problems. They have more pressing things to worry about: finding work, going to the new concert in town, what that cute girl by the jukebox is up to.
VA-11 Hall-A taps into the exhaustion of being a nobody. Of feeling powerless, confused, and lost in a world too large to wrap your head around. Even those of us in a stable country can relate to that, drained of energy by constant Facebook debates and a news cycle that seems desperate to one-up itself with tragedy and dark tidings.
Most importantly, it signals that gaming has grown. The medium once dominated by a jumping plumber and his single-minded quest for a princess is on its way to achieving the same diversity as film, literature, music, and other more “reputable” forms of art.
And they don’t have nearly as many waifus.
VA-11 Hall-A is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The kick-ass soundtrack is also available for streaming on Spotify and Google Play.

100 Graffiti Artists Create Stunning Pieces of Art on Dorm Before Its Renovation & Result Are Breathtaking [30 Images]
Topic: Street Art || by STAFF
A Hundred artists banded together to breathe some life into the mundane walls of a dormitory in Paris, making them reek of creativity and inspiration.
The white, uninspiring walls of school at most have scribblings on them, words etched by students whose efforts do not go unpunished.
This changed when a dynamic team of artists spent three weeks painting the interior of a student residence at the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris.
The artists were invited there to take part in an urban festival called Rehab 2, to be held for a month, from 16 June to 16 July and they did an amazing job, playing with colors in various visual tales etched on each of the walls.
Because each artist has their own distinct style and flair with their own selection of color palettes and visual elements, the entire exhibit is a collection of fantasy worlds colliding, the one where art enthusiasts would love to get lost in.
The school will undergo renovation before which they are hosting the show, making these graffiti works transient in nature.
While they will be wiped off before the official renovation, photographers have captured their beauty, documenting their artistic efforts, freezing these mesmerizing murals forever.
