chef/cafe au thoughts.
suguru caught a lucky break right out of culinary school and his career skyrocketed — maybe he owned an upscale restaurant. became known at first for his superhuman palette, then for a specific menu he did based on human vices that was meant to make the experience feel like eating the crimes of humanity (but in a delicious way) (you KNOW there was some kind of fucked up ortolan shit involved). kind of cutting edge and out-there, which is how it became so well-known so fast
but he tried to take on too much. crashed and burned, ended up at rock bottom and the restaurant closed. he sold the space and moved away with his daughters and never looked back. got chewed up and spit out real hard.
and like.... initially, he had this idea, right. his first ever idea for a restaurant was a laid back cafe (OBVIOUSLY called blue spring, who do you think i am) with a constantly rotating seasonal menu. but it got shot down by his mentors and colleagues because it wasn't haute cuisine enough, he couldn't get investment or funding for it. shelved it for the [unnamed for now] upscale place
but switching careers would mean wasting the last ten years, so he says fuck it. FUCK IT. he'll do it — on his own this time, with full creative control. the girls are teens now so they help him out with the designs and crafting the menu. it's cozy, but the food slaps and there's a new menu every month with some evergreen dishes he always has on there
the business is slow to start, but he's happy with that — he doesn't publicly link it to his name, tries to stay out of the press. just tryna live slow and spend time with his girls that he wasn't able to before!!!
postscript:
there is a gojo-shaped blank space in this verse because i have not figured out what to do with him yet — at least in verses where he's a past figure in geto's life. can vary by partner/thread, probably.
potential conflicts: wuh oh, the press find out / kenjaku as his old mentor who pushed him way too hard / the substance use issues he thought he had under control rear their heads again / pspsps bring in your muse's antags / general slice of life/ship conflicts

need to meta this but josh having seen / heard one of the creatures on the mountain in childhood is likely why he assumes so readily hannah isn’t real ie it aligns with what he hallucinates because it stems from a real fear that was impressioned on him as a kid. more into his fears, touching on his potential fear of the supernatural and how it conflicts with his conscious “un-fear” of it due to movie magic and also being told the things he sees aren’t real.

Is there any other reason why Viserys choose to wife Alicent? And was it truly all Otto's doing?
If you mean any other than repeating what most do ( that she was kind, beautiful, intelligent, etc. ) yes, then there arguably is. I do dive into divergencies based on small analysis which is a factor of great importance but I shall formulate this as solely my HC.
Yes, it was done by Otto's manipulations.
AND
No, I don't think it happened entirely by his plotting, tho yes he does play a significant part in it. Neither CAN I answer directly because I think there's a mixture of both ; my stance here is very conflicting and here's why.
The issue of Otto's orchestration is like adding to the bonfire; you may additionally try to play the wind but you don't know how the fire will behave or which way it will go ...
The main reason why Viserys chose Alicent was because she wasn't vulturing around him like other women did. The show gives us scrubs of this angle but picture yourself in his situation, you're the King, highest autority around, suddenly single and everyone knows you must bring new wife ( and not just simply but enter that kind of marriage that will guarantee production of more descendants in closest period ), there's a lot of prying eyes with one main interest (power) why women would be clawing at you, you're not a hunter but the hunted one. And then there is Alicent, who by that time shows no other personal ambitions, no rapacious power play than her deepest condolences; to help him with the weight of his grief and the way she seemed to be thoughtful about his well-being while bringing little things he enjoyed and would find distraction in ( not herself!! )
He knew her, he knew Otto, he knew house Hightower. Otto served well for years to his family ( mainly -> Jaehaerys ) , so there was nothing like diving into unexplored waters plus this was another way how to secure him tighter by his side ( hah, this was a part of Visery's ambition if anything ). People may call it as they wish but I say it was based on a pillar of whim and comfort he long knew and thought he TRUSTED. The importance of verified inner circle is crucial. It's the: ' I am bound to eternally please everyone around, so why can't I do for once something for myself? ' ahgdjsf . Most politically convenient marriage included only 12-year-old Laena, so we all don't have to guess long why it's a huge no-no for him on many levels.
Interest & curiosity. There had to be handful of moments when Viserys ( after slowly getting used to her presence ) kinda /expected/ her arrival while musing upon her enigmatic side: ' oh, I do wonder what Alicent will think of this. ' Her stance, belief, angle of view ... that kind of conversationally-opinionated curiosity.
Summary? Course of circumstances fragmented into knotting bundle that turned out to be convenient for both parties.
BONUS.
- As for Alicent: we know the girl frankly had no choice because the other two powerful men unfairly decided fate for her. BUT if I dig in to find some positive aspect here - - if she felt that bad in his company she wouldn't continue to go there, she would either complain to Otto where we would see that either he or she would find a way how to swirl out from this mess of a situation. - As for Otto: he may be hyper-ambitious but I don't think he'd push his daughter to Viserys if he'd find him dangerous or unfitting for her by any means ( well, we don't know that don't we? But let's hope not ). - From Visery's perspective - he technically and commonsensically saw her frequent presence in his domain as a green light, and that's pretty much all to put a dot. My point here is that whatever happened between them kinda flourished naturally on pedestal of friendship subsequently building with time, and that highly contributed to his final decision which by all means wasn't immediate but a challenging one to make ...

As I stand, stare into the void, and think about a million issues this guy has and then dime rolls and suddenly I get stuck with one, so have a portion of HC right HERE, right now.
For someone who ought to be pertinent, he strongly upholds the belief to feel free-zoned from shackling obligations for they jeopardize his circle of welfare; the place to belong. In his course of life, there's a chapter indicating minor roots of his neurotic symptoms that influenced his growth to a marked extent. As much as he was loved and grew happy with Marya and Django, he couldn't mute shadow polarity of his senses to perceive ( less ) stares of the Romani collective as a sign of 'dissimilarity'. His visual look; hair particularly. Wanda would of course try drag him out from such self-centered pitfall but even she knew her brother was right when he said ' look at me and tell me I belong here '. The process of negative thoughts prolonged long enough till he started to feel below the threshold of sensation and conceal his hair with hats and other accessories in vain hope to not draw too much attention of curious cats. Surprisingly, he seemed to not want much of that like any normal young man would which is understandable because of this whole unawareness about mutant lore.
Pietro never felt timid in a social situations and though he possessed no physical or mental limitations indicating an inferiority complex - - as befits tragedy he was a prisoner of a 'worth' blockage and constantly kept overthinking whether he belonged to the camp because yeah, he does look differently, and inherited albinism sure stands out a lot.
Tumblr media
( Avengers Origins: The Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver. )
This mental bubble breaks when someone else tells him aloud { and this is important because it's not just sister and his family circle but someone random } that his look is unparalleled. And I dare to say that feelings that triggered motivation for self-acceptance may stem from this one panel where he gradually starts discarding deficiency of his shortcomings.
And -eyes- honorable mention to Magnus for he too plays a significant role in part of his life { as role model } where Pietro { after joining the brotherhood } finally starts perceiving his hair, his powers, not as a bad aspect but as redeeming quality along with everything else; something to be proud of and put on display { and we know how strongly divergent he became in his adulthood about sense of individuality } .

I can't agree with the popular fandom interpretation that Norm has max perception, max intelligence, and then ridiculously low charisma. I feel like charisma is probably his third highest skill and it's not any lower than a 5 minimum. Yes, he's a little socially awkward and introverted compared to Lucy and their dad and he doesn't fit in with the other vault dwellers, but charisma is not just about how much people like you or how easy it is to reason with them.
Sometimes charisma is deception and lying to get something you need in order to reach your goal (off the top of my head, in FNV you can literally just pass a speech check to lie to an NCR soldier at HELIOS One like 'oh no its ok my brother works here, i'm just here to see him' and they believe it and let you in). That's something Norm is good at playing at.
When he says "we can do what [the raiders] would have done to us," it shocks the others. He knew that it would, that was his whole purpose for saying it. He sees the power struggle between Reg and Woody as they compete for the the helm as interim Overseer in Hank's absence, and he knows that they're not going to last very long before Betty claims the title for herself. They don't have control over the meeting, Betty does. He acts more vulnerable around Betty than he truly is, he knows that she's trying to manipulate him and he's too sharp-minded to fall for it, but he does let her believe that she has the upper hand through deception.

What are your char's insta like ?
Tumblr media
𝟏͟𝟎͟:͟𝟏͟𝟏͟𝐀͟𝐌͟ there's an in universe breakdown of their socials which includes insta that's going in the fanguide when i get around to it and i hate doing / repeating things twice </3 so here’s a meta ramble on social media as another world and an insight to their fandom structure.      tw for abuse
tldr. they don't have ig or any social media which like yeah sure it builds the mysterious exclusivity specialness thing they got going on but also it's just another way to abuse them. their fandom, rumcakes, run and operate all their accounts.
the rabbits don’t have individual accs nor are they allowed to. social media / digital spaces / similar word here i forgot act as a ( nother ) world they haven’t learned to navigate nor is it one they have a real awareness of as a result of how isolated they are ( in rosemary and also the real ! ). for romance’s opinions on social media grew to be split due to the difference in background of those who sustain it. when for romance started there wasn’t any social media and the company was built, structured for real world people. god, on the other hand, is not obsessed with maintaining the traditional status but instead wants to warp it to fit their image and god does genuinely think it'd be kinda crazy in the modern age for any group to not have socials especially a group like the rabbits. the initial owner's model for for romance can only work with for romance because of how meticulous he was in the initial planning, but his business model was structured around selling people a fantasy that involved limited specialness and the appearance of a proximity to it. gods is about specialness being far more accessible ( and the age of innocence and selling that lol ) but there's an understanding the other avenues of specialness will never be good as the original ( aoi btw not even foermi which kicked it all off ) which is why there are so many copycats around that always always get compared to aoi.
all of this works together to help establish rumcakes as the inbetween between the digital, the real world, and sometimes rosemary. they jave the job ( some do get paid to this btw but they're not real employees so no benefits or protections) and freedom of running all their socials. HOWEVA not any rumcake can just open a fan account. everything is vetted and approved by the “gatekeepers” ( i need a better name for them but KDKJDHVAB ). it later got remodeled by the same gatekeepers to have one main fanbase dedicated to each rabbit and the entire group then smaller groups divided geographically. fans can then apply based on their location, fluent language and if approved can then post within the accounts created by whoever is in charge of that specific group. all their socials operate like this.
bottle blonde is a special case because she's two people: ginger rabbit's daughter and then yk the soloist, bottle blonde. rumcakes run the daughter account and they want to manage bottle blonde’s account but the rights to bottle blonde are owned by joiwurks. they’re hoping to get access to her accs when her contract with joiwurks ends but spoiler !! that’s not gonna happen.
the only account any of the rabbits have access to are their discords. however, there's a lot of discussion if the accs are even run by them but 🤷🏾‍♀️
in the future when the identity of the rumcakes' gatekeepers gets revealed its intended to be questioned just how much power they have in shaping the internet persona of the rabbits which is almost like creating another persona the rabbits are / have to be. and they get to puppet this persona much like god gets to do though their intention is not malicious at all. ( i feel like i worded this weird but idk how to clarify this idk if you get it you get it if you don't well you'll see what i mean when we get there KDJFHSHA )
also the lack of socials is just another tool to aid in the abuse of the rabbits, keeping them dependent on for romance and unaware to what goes on in the real world.

i write viktor inconsistently intentionally. it's something i believe was always a part of the character & often disagreed when it was brought up as criticism.
often the critique boiled down to "riot could never decide whether viktor was a single-mindedly evil machine or a tragically misunderstood guy who just wants to do good" when to me it always felt like he was consciously placed in that muddy grey area in between where he's neither. him moving from one end to the other and back isn't as much inconsistent writing as it is a manifestation of his core thematic:
he wishes to erase the human condition, which he views as inherently flawed, but is simultaneously as bound to it as anyone else.
this internal conflict ( which imo was always present in his design, although it could have been communicated better, but he's a champion from an era where none of the designs were that great ; the mask hiding the proof of his remaining humanity was especially effective visual storytelling in this regard ) defines viktor. it's what gives him complexity as a character. when he acts in ways that contradict himself it's not flawed writing — it's a character flaw being put to use.

what does your soul look like? a rose colored sun.
You are warmth. You are hope. You are always reaching, and reaching. You have a great love inside you, and you are determined to share it with others, to warm them from the cold and empty void. But you give too much. You have torn yourself open, and now your light is stained with your own blood. Do you think yourself too reckless? Do you know how to stop? You are passion. You are a burning, bleeding heart. All look to you for guidance, for your comfort, but who will catch you when you fall? Never forget, no matter how many times you fade beneath the horizon, no matter how many times your sun has set, you will rise again at dawn.

@bluedprints / mun talks about muse meme.
🎭 How similar are you and the muse?
i identify with diane unlike any other character and we've several overlapping characteristics, but what's fascinating is how that's not because we're the same person. it's because we exist in a similar class shift/limbo, caused by the same environments (the new england academic elite; and the more blue-collar bar scene). that's where she's a comfort to me/makes me feel recognized in-show. she's a potent "vehicle" for commenting on the two environments i've inhabited, and how having a foot in each can complicate feelings of (un)belonging/being part of an in-group. a major difference is background. she grew up economically advantaged. i am, lol, her flip-flopped: a first-gen student from a bar-owning/bartending parentage (i am indefinitely bartending full-time right now!) who was "elited" by my alma mater. that class shift has been challenging to reconcile in my everyday life, and is a defining component of diane's character/her everyday struggles. so, we're not carbon copies by any means, but we've staggeringly similar social friction due to existing in the literal same settings. i feel very understood by her. i'm fortunate for cheers.
📝 Favorite headcanon for your muse?
the one that first sprang to mind because i was just looking at my post which breaks it down, is that diane is begrudgingly good at activities she does not "want" to be good at due to social pressures to protect her constructed, highbrow image, and then flounders at the things she THINKS she should be good at. be honest with yourself, mama chambers!
✍ Favorite thing about writing the muse?
dialogue. hands-down. dialogue. when i was at [redacted ivy], i needed an outlet to satirize the parlance i was overhearing, but also celebrate the whimsy/animation of it. it's a fine line. but diane has such a fun, delicate balance of winding, whimsical eloquence + precise academic jargon. additionally, i love how she begins fondly picking up & integrating into her everyday speech more colloquiums she hears in the bar. her dialogue's a playground for me.

NOTE: This is Billy's general and frankly MAIN universe. it is HEAVILY inspired by the works of Joe Hill and a smidge of Neil Gaiman for vibes. The Night Road is an element of Joe Hill's works and their adaptations and is first mentioned in his novel Heart Shaped Box.
Tumblr media
Something happened to Billy all those years ago, what it was exactly he doesn’t say and no one who was around for it is either gone or conspicuously won’t talk about it. But he’s different now. Never been the same since— assuming he’s even alive. He certainly hasn’t been back there and if the people who knew him saw him, they’re not saying anything. It’s not clear if it’s because he doesn’t want to go or because he can’t go. There’s a story though, an urban myth really.
Here’s how it goes:
Back in the 80s there was this real hard glam rock kinda guy, real poster child for the whole 80s vibe— mullet, single earring, leather jacket, muscles, heavy metal, hot rod and a fuck you attitude. His name was Billy Hargrove and he was from California. His mom left him with his bastard of a dad when he was a kid then Billy got saddled him with a younger sister when he remarried. It wasn’t a good time for anyone but it was especially bad for Billy. See Mr. Hargrove was a real piece of work, he beat Billy just for looking at him wrong. Didn’t like anyone that wasn’t himself. And that made Billy mean too. When Billy was 17 things went really south and they ended up in some loser podunk midwest town to get away from the fall out. Billy got real angry after that. Drinking, fighting, sleeping around — the whole 9 yards — he really got wild. Like he had a death wish or something. And maybe he did seeing how things went.
So one night Billy had this date with some girl and he’s speeding along in his Camaro — as usual — and he doesn’t come back. It’s like he just drove into the night and got eaten up by it. Not so crazy either on those rural roads, all those trees and no street lights make it darker than dark. Most people thought he’d finally gotten into an accident somewhere or bailed out of town. But they never found a wreck and if he did skip town he’d left with nothing but the clothes on his back and a lot of very sellable shit behind — not exactly the actions of a dude who’s looking to head back to Malibu.
Only people could still hear his car roaring down the road. I mean you could NOT mistake this for anything else. Billy Hargrove was the only guy in town with a hot rod and the only one who drove like he wanted you to know he was coming for ya. His old man swore he heard it all the time, even as he had one foot out the door sayin’ he was dumping his wife and step-daughter and moving on to somewhere better. Every night he’d hear that fucking Camaro and sometimes in the day, sometimes just outside the bank where he worked as a security guard. Claimed he heard weird shit on the radio too, Billy’s heavy metal and some DJ talking about The Night Road. Said he heard screams of the damned. First he blamed the step-daughter for it but how the hell could she hack the airwaves? Finally he seemed to totally snap and said he was leaving this godless place and going somewhere better, somewhere a man like him deserved.
Never got somewhere better but he did get somewhere he deserved. He went missing one night, truck still in the driveway, headlights on and the driver’s door open. The only evidence was tire tracks. They matched Billy’s Camaro. They never found a body but his wife did get a call a few days later. It was Billy saying he’d took pops for a little bonding trip, wished her and the brat a nice life and hung up. She knew was a widow now and whatever trip they’d took it wasn’t any kind she’d ever understand. Or want to.
See whatever happened to Billy it made him different. Like some kinda fucking ghost rider or whatever. See there’s this road the NIGHT ROAD — it runs from from north to south following the I-95 but also it’s everywhere and it’s nowhere. Either way it ends in Florida cause you see it ends in HELL. And Florida’s pretty 1 for 1 on being Hell. To get on the Night Road there’s gotta be something a little dark in you, a little wrong, and once you’re on it you can get to places you never knew existed. It’s like Route 66 for the supernatural or something. And Billy? Billy’s on that road now, some kine of 80s grim reaper blaring Metallica while he comes to take someone to Hell.
He’s not Santa, he doesn’t have a naughty or nice list. No one really knows when he’s gonna show up or why most of the time. But if you piss him off or summon him well, we’ll never forget you. So if you’re ever driving on an empty road at night and suddenly there’s headlights behind you and a radio blaring, it just might be Billy Hargrove making his rounds on the Night Road. And maybe he’s there for you.

// I think I'll info dump some stuff about my femc. She is subject to change since I'm playing through the game!
Tumblr media
I'm using the name Mikoto Yuki since my Makoto Yuki over on ochazos exists.
She's big depressed but displays what she thinks people WANT to see. She has a lot of trauma about being left behind and is usually the one that prefers to do the leaving because it hurts less
She's a sweet girl but has a mean streak. She very much has a devil on her shoulder. She usually doesn't voice these thoughts.
Massive imposter syndrome.
Loves combat more than she would ever admit. Partly because she has buried anger issues that she can let come out.
Loves quickly and deeply!!! Self sabotages out of fear of being abandoned.
Bisexual with a male lean.
Is good at masking and feels like she doesn't know who she is when she's not.
One of those people that knows everyone but nobody REALLY knows.
Girl's girl!

↳ in reference to soul collection & deals .
Tumblr media
zestial has many methods of collecting souls & making deals in various ways to ensure it's never just one method & not easily cut off. it's one of the many ways he's been able to ensure he doesn't fall from his position of power. the primary methods are as follows :
- offering information . zestial has eyes all over & keeps information that could be useful to him in one way or another. he's very good at catching lies ( one of the reasons he prefers communication in person , body language & how someone holds themselves are far too important. ) + puts a large amount of weight on gaining intel. many of those indebted to him pay back their deals by providing him with even more information. hence a sort of web of it all & the general motif of ensnaring prey in said web.
kind of in relation to above so : this also can include finding or capturing certain sinners , something zestial has certainly done before for boons . + helping someone disappear or hide. y'know how you can never find the damn spider you were looking for ? oops !
- in a similar vein , like the bright colors of a venomous spider or snake , zestial certainly isn't above flexing power when necessary & giving sinners something to truly fear. this usually does require a soul , not just a deal. ( & of course , zestial would only act with all facts. ) he does so love a bit of torture & if they deserve it , who is he to deny such a classic , reliable way of getting things done ? ♥ - albeit might not be relevant any longer : offering safety in the next annual ( or now bi - annual ) extermination event ; after all who better than one who has survived so many ! the alternative will be a promised , much more painful existence in this afterlife anyways. sometimes a little fear goes a long way & we know zestial has a reputation that makes other sinners light themselves on fire with his very presence.
surely more , but these are the main methods !!

Lord help us, I'm theory-crafting through late night analysis again. Under read more because it is long and also very potentially disturbing to read. TW for mentions of cannibalism, death, child death, animal death, and pregnancy.
Okay so. In one of the more horrific realizations I think I may have stumbled onto tonight… I did notice that the first time Norm goes into Vault 32 in episode 1, where he finds a corpse that appears to be missing a leg and then he runs back out with the realization that the real 32s are dead and the ones at the wedding party must be imposters… He was walking into 32's nursery wing, filled with baby cradles. I don't recall seeing any baby or child corpses among the dead which could be either comforting (maybe there weren't any kids within this crop of 32s yet) or incredibly sick and fucked up (maybe…the 32s ate their young in desperation to survive, like dysfunctional lab rats would…)
Dervin, one of the raiders captured and imprisoned by the 33ers, eventually tells Norm that he doesn't know what was going on in Vault 32, but the dwellers there were anything but innocent, pointing to the secret that Norm will soon dig into uncovering throughout the next several episodes.
Upon re-entering 32 later on, this time with Chet in tow, Norm examines a dead dweller's Pip-Boy, which indicates that the last bio-sign detected was over 2 years prior. Everyone in the vault has been dead for at least that long. As Chet and Norm explore, they stumble upon a television set in one of the living quarters with a corpse who had evidently been electrocuted to death. The TV plays a section of holotape describing the Rat Utopia experiment conducted by ethologist John B. Calhoun between the years 1958 and 1962. In this experiment, 4 groups of Norway rats were given unlimited access to food and water, enabling major population growth of their species over a period of 4 years.
In the original papers, educational films, and consequently the theory presented in the context of the TV series, the described experiment is heavily anthropomorphized and applies human characteristics to the animals such as greed and dominance. However, dominance theory, as a way of describing animal behavior, was based on a heavily flawed study conducted by Rudolph Schenkel in 1947 on captive wolves. The scarcity of resources such as food and breeding partners in captivity made the wolves feel anxious that they would lose whatever they had to another wolf if they didn’t act aggressively to ward off the potential threats. Humans saw this and we collectively decided, for some reason, that this must mean animals operate on a theory of alpha males and that they must dominate other animals.
Consequently, the Dominance Theory study was conducted in 1971 by behaviorist David Mech, who examined the behavior of wolves in the wild. A much more natural setting for them than a concrete cage. Influenced by the preceding study Mech based his work off of, he observed that wolf packs consisted of an alpha male and a female mate, and that they ruled over all of the other wolves in the pack, who were submissive to them.
In reality, what Mech was seeing was a pack that consisted of two parents known as breeders and their offspring. By the time Mech published his original study, he realized he had made a serious error in his observations and has since spent his entire career trying to correct that mistake. His original study is described as outmoded by many ethologistics in our present-day.
So the reality of Rat/Mouse Utopia is less about rodents gaining an insatiable bloodlust because every society throughout history is built on violence, and a lot more like this:
Due to the rat’s short gestation period and ability to raise multiple litters in quick succession, overpopulation can occur very rapidly and resources such as food, water, and breeding rights become more scarce because there are more rats to divide them between. This decrease in available resources causes the rats to become more anxious that they will not be able to sustain themselves or the new generation of rats they are meant to raise, often causing them to react with aggression toward other rats, whom they see increasingly as threats to their survival. If there is a lack of resources, or if the primary source is seen as inaccessible by the rats, they may resort to cannibalism, eating other rats to survive.
This phenomena came to be known as a behavioral sink, a collapse in species-typical behavior that can result from overpopulation.
Humans don’t have nearly as quick a turnaround rate on reproduction as rats or mice, but sustaining a pregnant human and then providing food for the resulting children through to adulthood does put more strain on available resources in the same way as with rats. Or any mammal, really.
We know that the people of Vault 32 discovered the truth about what was in 31, because they left behind messages written in blood that say “WE KNOW THE TRUTH” “DEATH TO MANAGEMENT” and “WE KNOW WHAT'S IN THERE” regarding Vault 31. They successfully started a revolt and they were able to overthrow the Overseer. But ultimately, that revolt ended in failure with everyone dying off. While some of the bodies seen clearly killed each other, it looks like others may have died by their own hand instead, or have at least been made to look as if they did. No matter what the real answer is behind why this happened in 32, but not 33, these are conditions that replicate the results achieved by the Rat Utopia experiments in a human population.
