I felt like I wasn’t supposed to ask but what exactly was the “incredible power” that made everybody want to keep the One Ring?

Like yeah I get it, Sauron whispers in your ear and offers you everything you ever wanted while tormenting you with fear but like. Practically speaking all it seemed to DO was turn you invisible and slow your roll.

And there’s still castles and fortresses and locked doors and shit. It takes you 2 years to walk anywhere. Immortal snail type situation.

on grian's "that's how little that board meant; i was in good favor" line:

i don't think grian forgot about his 0 and frowny face, i think it just didn't matter to him. think about it: he's been sleeping in scar's bed. he spends so much time in the bamboozler's base that it takes a solid 30 seconds after he respawns there for any of them to register his presence as Wrong. he and scar have been taking jabs back and forth, yeah, and he knew about his score on the reputation board, but...

grian also knows that scar's actions will always speak much louder than his silver words. he knows scar, knows how he operates. not just that, but he knows first-hand how baseless and inconsequential every line on that board on monopoly mountain was in the end. scar's words have never meant anything, and grian knows that. you can't trust a thing he says, but his hands and his eyes don't lie; at least not to grian. that's what he was thinking about: the desert and the love it held

But when the argument "Zeus has numerous affairs and many children because he represent the fertile rain" is brought up, all nuance is suddenly out of the window and Zeus is just a womanizer who can't keep it in his pants.

the way the theme of home and tommy being buck’s home has been following them since season seven with “come home and be with your man”…..his loft becoming more lived-in when he was with tommy….the closest he came to finding a sense of “home” after moving out of the loft was after a night spent with tommy….how they have yet to find their way back to each other and buck still has yet to find home…..

imagine if after the transmigration shen qingqiu became a combination of shen yuan and shen jiu, not in a "second person living in my head" kind of way, but a "this house is haunted and carries the echoes of the dead" kind of way; imagine shen yuan having nightmares about a house, a fire, a faceless boy behind a door he can't remember; imagine him having flashes of emotions he doesn't understand, rage at a name he doesn't recognize, helplessness when yue qingyuan apologizes for something he won't mention, nausea when ning yingying says the name "a-luo"; imagine parts of his own self have changed too, how he now likes bows in his hair, pretty flowers and flowing robes, but can no longer stand a stranger's touch, a man's touch, yet he longs for the brothels, but never sexually, only fondly, like there's something there he misses. there are many empty spaces in his heart where he feels something is missing

In the odyssey, Penelope gave a test to all the travelers and beggers who claimed to carry news of her husband. She asked them everytime to describe his clothes. Because she had clothed him herself the morning he had left.

Odysseus is one of the few who pass it, describing a purple himation and the pin she had used.

Now picture, odysseus refuses to take this himation off. He doesn't care that it's getting increasingly tattered and stained /his wife put this on him/ and he will kill anyone who tries to take it off him. He looses everything he has over and over again. Except for this himation. He manages to hang on to it for the entire war and journey. Only to wake up on calypso's island and it's/gone./

When he begs the goddess for it's return she laughs an angry laugh. Saying "that old thing? I threw that away first. It was ruined beyond repair. You dont need a himation anyway but if you ask me nicely enough I'll make you a new one."

That's the first day odysseus spends all day weeping at the beach. But it certainly won't be the last.

modern au where obi-wan works in a used bookshop and they have a wall dedicated to all the pieces of paper they find in donated books (ticket stubs from concerts, old post cards, train tickets, receipts, etc) and it’s a part of Obi-Wan’s job to add to their collection while he’s flipping through and pricing donated books.

in the most recent haul though, he finds a very sweet card that says something like “dear Anakin, I’m so very proud of you for graduating and so happy I was able to see it. The deaths of all of our toasters when you were growing up always felt worth it to see you tinkering with something that made you happy, but now the world will see you as well. Love, mom”

something about this card moves him more than anything else he’s found has. maybe it’s the handwriting, or the sentiment, or the fact that Obi-Wan’s own father just passed away, putting an end to their complicated relationship forever. Whatever the reason, Obi-wan decides to find Anakin and give him his book back, or at very least the card. On the inside cover, there’s a name of the previous owner: Padmé Amidala. perhaps she knows how to get in contact with Anakin.

(meanwhile of course, anakin had misplaced the card in that book he’d never finished reading, which was a political history book Padmé had been after him for years to read. When he and Padmé divorce, both of them downsize and Padmé donates much of her library to various places to make room for the twins’ playroom instead. When a bedraggled but well-meaning bookshop owner shows up at her doorstep with one of those books, she’s all too happy to point him in her ex-husband’s direction, if only it means she doesn’t have to deal with whatever problem Anakin’s found himself in)

(meanwhile of course post divorce single father anakin would love nothing more than a good romp in the sheets with Bedraggled Bookshop Man who appears at his doorstep with the most boring political history in the world - and an old card from his mom who passed away a few years ago. Anakin loves signs from the universe. This seems like a good one.)

This isn't a moral failing on your part. This is an injury, caused by prolonged stress.

Or course you can't run as fast on a fractured ankle. Take a rest; rent a scooter if you have to. But don't hurt yourself worse.
