I spent, at a minimum, at least $500-$1,000 a month exclusively on my self improvement. Here is most of what I spend on, in no particular order:
Education (classes, books, courses, certifications, college tuition, seminars, etc.)
Private lessons for languages, musical instruments, sports, etc.
Personal hobbies and passion projects
Crest whitening strips (great when in a pinch), Invisalign, professional whitening, preventative dental care, prescription whitening products from my dentist
Investments such as index funds, REITs, ETFs, CDs, individual stocks, commodities, appreciative luxury items, precious metals & gems, etc.
Organic food, vitamins, supplements, high quality healthcare, therapy, massages, prescriptions (Rx skincare, etc.)
New glasses & contacts (getting some bayonetta glasses from Burberry soon, very excited)
Sports, gym membership + sauna, hot yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, tennis, skiing, dance, etc.
Personal care such as bath/shower products, body care, haircare, skincare, makeup, brightening eye drops, perfume, etc.
Travel, events, concerts, festivals, etc.
Shopping (clothes, accessories, home goods, etc.)
Eating out at restaurants and going to coffee shops
Beauty treatments such as manicures, pedicures, waxes, brow tint & threading, salon blowouts, hair cuts & colors, facials, lash lift & tints, vitamin IVs, etc.
Regular visits to my dermatologist, dentist, psychiatrist, eye doctor, primary care physician, gynecologist, and any other specialists
Semi-regular appointments with a personal trainer, holistic nutritionist, and dietitian
I don't do all of these every single month, but most of these are recurring throughout the year and budgeted accordingly. Eventually I might add in more intense cosmetic work like medspa services, Botox, etc. If you can find a workplace with a great benefits package such as high quality healthcare, an HSA/FSA, health & wellness reimbursements for the gym, disability & life insurance, etc. I would highly recommend it and max out all the benefits you can.

"really, we're still doing this shit ma?" chris asks, walking into his bathroom as you were doing your skin care. you looked at him, pressing your lips in a thin line before going back to your face. "oh c'mon, i apologized already."
you didn't respond, only continuing to lather your face with a cleanser. chris rolled his eyes, watching you through the mirror. you were supposed to have a small date, nothing too big. he promised since he had been busy recently.
but once again, he had to cancel because he was needed at the warehouse. it was a stupid reason not to be talking to chris. you knew that nick told you that last night. but you didn't care.
chris huffed, "so what, i can't do anything to get you to talk to me again?"
you put down the product in your hand, turning to look at him. chris' face brightened up, expecting a response. but fell again when you pushed past him to grab a rag from the rack.
he shook his head, "so you're gonna keep playing like this? not responding or looking at me." again, no answer. you were going to continue your routine as if he wasn't in the room with you.
"no fucking way," chris said, grabbing you by the wrist and spinning you around. "stop being a brat and talk to me ma, wanna hear that pretty fucking voice," he says, bringing your hand up to his mouth.
he places a kiss on your wrist, keeping his eyes on yours. you swallowed the lump in your throat, trying to remain unbothered. "really, no words?" he questions. you shake your head, moving your hand back.
"that's okay, i got ways to make you speak," he smirks. next thing you know you were being turned around, and your pajama pants and underwear were being tugged down. your heart dropped, and your legs were pressed together.
chris' hands gripped your hips, pushing you against the sink. "spread for me, ma," he says, slapping the inside of your thigh.
you did as you were told, biting your lip to silence yourself. his hands gripped your ass, kneading the flesh in his hands as he stood behind you. one of his hands worked at his sweats while the other pushed your cheek against the cool, marble counter top.
your ass was in the air, and chris was admiring the view. "i know you got a voice in there, so don't hold back on me baby," he says, lining his cock up to your pussy. the tip nudged your clit, causing you to shudder.
one of your arms goes near your mouth, you teeth latching onto the flesh as he pushes himself in, stretching you out. "shit, so fuckin' tight for me," chris grunts, bottoming out. his pelvis was pressed against your ass, his body was leaning over yours.
"don't even need lube for you, huh?" he chuckled mockingly, "always so fucking wet for me," he adds. his hand reaches for your hair, fisting it before yanking your head up.
you gasp at the pain, feeling his tip push further into you. "now, let me hear that voice," he growls, pulling out and slamming back into you. you shake your head the best you can as you bite down on your lips. the familiar metallic taste filling your senses.
"so, that's how it's gonna be," chris chuckles, "okay." his hips begin to pick up the pace, his other hand digging into the skin of your left leg as he lifts it onto the counter. the new angle having him hit a different part of you that hasn't been hit before.
a muffled moan slips through, but chris still caught it. "there she is," he grins, pulling your hair more as his hips slap against your ass. the lewd sound of his hips meeting yours along with the squelch of your pussy fills the room.
his hand that was holding your leg leaves, landing a hard slap on your ass. the sudden sting made you cry out. "sound so pretty," chris praised, "let me hear it all, ma."
with a nod of your head, he begins to pound into you, making your head bounce as he slams his cock into you. your eyes begin to water, the pleasure and pain mixing together. "fuck, fuck so good," you babble, feeling the familiar coil in your stomach.
chris chuckles, "look so pretty, taking my cock like this. think you can take it harder baby?" he asks, and you quickly nod. his grip on your hair loosens, and his other hand grabs your shoulder as his hips begin to snap against yours harder than before.
tears streamed down your cheeks as you cried out, nothing but loud whines and pornographic moans leaving your lips. his grip was sure to leave bruises, and your scalp was throbbing.
the coil was becoming too much, and you felt yourself coming undone. "c-chris," you cry, "i'm cumming, shit i'm cumming." the words left your lips in a babble, your cunt clenching around him. "cum on my dick, baby. fuck yes," he grunts, his hips never faltering.
your body went limp in his hold, you eyes rolling back as your mouth fell open. he fucked you through the orgasm, his own not far behind. a few more thrusts and he was pulling out, stroking his dick as he released on your ass.
your knees buckled, but his arm held you up. "gonna talk to me now, ma?" he breathed, his chest heaving as the two of you caught your breath. you nodded your head, a smile tugging on your lips.
"good, let's go get you cleaned up," he says, spinning around and lifting you up. you wrapped your legs around his waist, your head resting on his shoulder as he carried you to the shower.

"Scientists have developed a way to dramatically reduce the cost of recycling certain electronic waste by using whey protein.
Their method allows for the easy recovery of gold from circuit boards at a cost of energy and materials amounting to 50 times less than the price of the gold they recover—these are the numbers that big business likes to see.
Indeed, the potential for scalability depends on this sort of cost savings, something traditional e-waste recycling methods just can’t achieve.
Professor Raffaele Mezzenga from ETH Zurich has found that whey protein, a byproduct of dairy manufacturing, can be used to make sponges that attract trace amounts of ionized gold.
Electronic waste contains a variety of valuable metals, including copper, cobalt, and gold. Despite gold’s public persona as being either money or jewelry, thousands of ounces of gold are used in electronics every year for its exceptional conductive properties.
Mezzenga’s colleague Mohammad Peydayesh first “denatured whey proteins under acidic conditions and high temperatures, so that they aggregated into protein nanofibrils in a gel,” writes the ETH Zurich press. “The scientists then dried the gel, creating a sponge out of these protein fibrils.”
The next step was extracting the gold: done by tossing 20 salvaged motherboards into an acid bath until the metals had dissolved into ionized compounds that the sponge began attracting.
Removing the sponge, a heat treatment caused the gold ions to aggregate into 22-carat gold flakes which could be easily removed.
“The fact I love the most is that we’re using a food industry byproduct to obtain gold from electronic waste,” Mezzenga says. In a very real sense, he observes, the method transforms two waste products into gold. “You can’t get much more sustainable than that!” ...
However the real dollar value comes from the bottom line—which was 50 times more than the cost of energy and source materials. Because of this, the scientists have every intention of bringing the technology to the market as quickly as possible while also desiring to see if the protein fibril sponge can be made of other food waste byproducts.
E-waste is a quickly growing burden in global landfills, and recycling it requires extremely energy-intensive machinery that many recycling facilities do not possess.
The environmental value of the minerals contained within most e-waste comes not only from preventing the hundreds of years it takes for them to break down in the soil, but also from the reduction in demand from new mining operations which can, though not always, significantly degrade the environments they are located in.
[Note: Absolutely massive understatement, mining is incredibly destructive to ecosystems. Mining is also incredibly toxic to human health and a major cause of conflict, displacement, and slavery globally.]
Other countries are trying to incentivize the recycling of e-waste, and are using gold to do so. In 2022, GNN reported that the British Royal Mint launched an electronically traded fund (ETF) with each share representing the value of gold recovered from e-waste as a way for investors to diversify into gold in a way that doesn’t support environmentally damaging mining.
The breakthrough is reminiscent of that old fairy tale of Rumpelstiltskin who can spin straw into gold. All that these modern-day, real-life alchemists are doing differently is using dairy and circuit boards rather than straw."

Antitrust is a labor issue
Tumblr media
I'm touring my new, nationally bestselling novel The Bezzle! Catch me SATURDAY (Apr 27) in MARIN COUNTY, then Winnipeg (May 2), Calgary (May 3), Vancouver (May 4), and beyond!
Tumblr media
This is huge: yesterday, the FTC finalized a rule banning noncompete agreements for every American worker. That means that the person working the register at a Wendy's can switch to the fry-trap at McD's for an extra $0.25/hour, without their boss suing them:
https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2024/04/ftc-announces-rule-banning-noncompetes
The median worker laboring under a noncompete is a fast-food worker making close to minimum wage. You know who doesn't have to worry about noncompetes? High tech workers in Silicon Valley, because California already banned noncompetes, as did Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Virginia and Washington.
The fact that the country's largest economies, encompassing the most "knowledge-intensive" industries, could operate without shitty bosses being able to shackle their best workers to their stupid workplaces for years after those workers told them to shove it shows you what a goddamned lie noncompetes are based on. The idea that companies can't raise capital or thrive if their know-how can walk out the door, secreted away in the skulls of their ungrateful workers, is bullshit:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/02/02/its-the-economy-stupid/#neofeudal
Remember when OpenAI's board briefly fired founder Sam Altman and Microsoft offered to hire him and 700 of his techies? If "noncompetes block investments" was true, you'd think they'd have a hard time raising money, but no, they're still pulling in billions in investor capital (primarily from Microsoft itself!). This is likewise true of Anthropic, the company's major rival, which was founded by (wait for it), two former OpenAI employees.
Indeed, Silicon Valley couldn't have come into existence without California's ban on noncompetes – the first silicon company, Shockley Semiconductors, was founded by a malignant, delusional eugenicist who also couldn't manage a lemonade stand. His eight most senior employees (the "Traitorous Eight") quit his shitty company to found Fairchild Semiconductor, a rather successful chip shop – but not nearly so successful as the company that two of Fairchild's top employees founded after they quit: Intel:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/10/24/the-traitorous-eight-and-the-battle-of-germanium-valley/
Likewise a lie: the tale that noncompetes raise wages. This theory – beloved of people whose skulls are so filled with Efficient Market Hypothesis Brain-Worms that they've got worms dangling out of their nostrils and eye-sockets – holds that the right to sign a noncompete is an asset that workers can trade to their employers in exchange for better pay. This is absolutely true, provided you ignore reality.
Remember: the median noncompete-bound worker is a fast food employee making near minimum wage. The major application of noncompetes is preventing that worker from getting a raise from a rival fast-food franchisee. Those workers are losing wages due to noncompetes. Meanwhile, the highest paid workers in the country are all clustered in a a couple of cities in northern California, pulling down sky-high salaries in a state where noncompetes have been illegal since the gold rush.
If a capitalist wants to retain their workers, they can compete. Offer your workers get better treatment and better wages. That's how capitalism's alchemy is supposed to work: competition transmogrifies the base metal of a capitalist's greed into the noble gold of public benefit by making success contingent on offering better products to your customers than your rivals – and better jobs to your workers than those rivals are willing to pay. However, capitalists hate capitalism:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/04/18/in-extremis-veritas/#the-winnah
Capitalists hate capitalism so much that they're suing the FTC, in MAGA's beloved Fifth Circuit, before a Trump-appointed judge. The case was brought by Trump's financial advisors, Ryan LLC, who are using it to drum up business from corporations that hate Biden's new taxes on the wealthy and stepped up IRS enforcement on rich tax-cheats.
Will they win? It's hard to say. Despite what you may have heard, the case against the FTC order is very weak, as Matt Stoller explains here:
https://www.thebignewsletter.com/p/ftc-enrages-corporate-america-by
The FTC's statutory authority to block noncompetes comes from Section 5 of the FTC Act, which bans "unfair methods of competition" (hard to imagine a less fair method than indenturing your workers). Section 6(g) of the Act lets the FTC make rules to enforce Section 5's ban on unfairness. Both are good law – 6(g) has been used many times (26 times in the five years from 1968-73 alone!).
The DC Circuit court upheld the FTC's right to "promulgate rules defining the meaning of the statutory standards of the illegality the Commission is empowered to prevent" in 1973, and in 1974, Congress changed the FTC Act, but left this rulemaking power intact.
The lawyer suing the FTC – Anton Scalia's larvum, a pismire named Eugene Scalia – has some wild theories as to why none of this matters. He says that because the law hasn't been enforced since the ancient days of the (checks notes) 1970s, it no longer applies. He says that the mountain of precedent supporting the FTC's authority "hasn't aged well." He says that other antitrust statutes don't work the same as the FTC Act. Finally, he says that this rule is a big economic move and that it should be up to Congress to make it.
Stoller makes short work of these arguments. The thing that tells you whether a law is good is its text and precedent, "not whether a lawyer thinks a precedent is old and bad." Likewise, the fact that other antitrust laws is irrelevant "because, well, they are other antitrust laws, not this antitrust law." And as to whether this is Congress's job because it's economically significant, "so what?" Congress gave the FTC this power.
Now, none of this matters if the Supreme Court strikes down the rule, and what's more, if they do, they might also neuter the FTC's rulemaking power in the bargain. But again: so what? How is it better for the FTC to do nothing, and preserve a power that it never uses, than it is for the Commission to free the 35-40 million American workers whose bosses get to use the US court system to force them to do a job they hate?
The FTC's rule doesn't just ban noncompetes – it also bans TRAPs ("training repayment agreement provisions"), which require employees to pay their bosses thousands of dollars if they quit, get laid off, or are fired:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/08/04/its-a-trap/#a-little-on-the-nose
The FTC's job is to protect Americans from businesses that cheat. This is them, doing their job. If the Supreme Court strikes this down, it further delegitimizes the court, and spells out exactly who the GOP works for.
This is part of the long history of antitrust and labor. From its earliest days, antitrust law was "aimed at dollars, not men" – in other words, antitrust law was always designed to smash corporate power in order to protect workers. But over and over again, the courts refused to believe that Congress truly wanted American workers to get legal protection from the wealthy predators who had fastened their mouth-parts on those workers' throats. So over and over – and over and over – Congress passed new antitrust laws that clarified the purpose of antitrust, using words so small that even federal judges could understand them:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/04/14/aiming-at-dollars/#not-men
After decades of comatose inaction, Biden's FTC has restored its role as a protector of labor, explicitly tackling competition through a worker protection lens. This week, the Commission blocked the merger of Capri Holdings and Tapestry Inc, a pair of giant conglomerates that have, between them, bought up nearly every "affordable luxury" brand (Versace, Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Coach, Stuart Weitzman, etc).
You may not care about "affordable luxury" handbags, but you should care about the basis on which the FTC blocked this merger. As David Dayen explains for The American Prospect: 33,000 workers employed by these two companies would lose the wage-competition that drives them to pay skilled sales-clerks more to cross the mall floor and switch stores:
https://prospect.org/economy/2024-04-24-challenge-fashion-merger-new-antitrust-philosophy/
In other words, the FTC is blocking a $8.5b merger that would turn an oligopoly into a monopoly explicitly to protect workers from the power of bosses to suppress their wages. What's more, the vote was unanimous, include the Commission's freshly appointed (and frankly, pretty terrible) Republican commissioners:
https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2024/04/ftc-moves-block-tapestrys-acquisition-capri
A lot of people are (understandably) worried that if Biden doesn't survive the coming election that the raft of excellent rules enacted by his agencies will die along with his presidency. Here we have evidence that the Biden administration's anti-corporate agenda has become institutionalized, acquiring a bipartisan durability.
And while there hasn't been a lot of press about that anti-corporate agenda, it's pretty goddamned huge. Back in 2021, Tim Wu (then working in the White wrote an executive order on competition that identified 72 actions the agencies could take to blunt the power of corporations to harm everyday Americans:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2021/08/party-its-1979-og-antitrust-back-baby
Biden's agency heads took that plan and ran with it, demonstrating the revolutionary power of technical administrative competence and proving that being good at your job is praxis:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/10/18/administrative-competence/#i-know-stuff
In just the past week, there's been a storm of astoundingly good new rules finalized by the agencies:
A minimum staffing ratio for nursing homes;
The founding of the American Climate Corps;
A guarantee of overtime benefits;
A ban on financial advisors cheating retirement savers;
Medical privacy rules that protect out-of-state abortions;
A ban on junk fees in mortgage servicing;
Conservation for 13m Arctic acres in Alaska;
Classifying "forever chemicals" as hazardous substances;
A requirement for federal agencies to buy sustainable products;
Closing the gun-show loophole.
That's just a partial list, and it's only Thursday.
Why the rush? As Gerard Edic writes for The American Prospect, finalizing these rules now protects them from the Congressional Review Act, a gimmick created by Newt Gingrich in 1996 that lets the next Senate wipe out administrative rules created in the months before a federal election:
https://prospect.org/politics/2024-04-23-biden-administration-regulations-congressional-review-act/
In other words, this is more dazzling administrative competence from the technically brilliant agencies that have labored quietly and effectively since 2020. Even laggards like Pete Buttigieg have gotten in on the act, despite a very poor showing in the early years of the Biden administration:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/02/11/dinah-wont-you-blow/#ecp
Despite those unpromising beginnings, the DOT has gotten onboard the trains it regulates, and passed a great rule that forces airlines to refund your money if they charge you for services they don't deliver:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/04/24/fact-sheet-biden-harris-administration-announces-rules-to-deliver-automatic-refunds-and-protect-consumers-from-surprise-junk-fees-in-air-travel/
The rule also bans junk fees and forces airlines to compensate you for late flights, finally giving American travelers the same rights their European cousins have enjoyed for two decades.
It's the latest in a string of muscular actions taken by the DOT, a period that coincides with the transfer of Jen Howard from her role as chief of staff to FTC chair Lina Khan to a new gig as the DOT's chief of competition enforcement:
https://prospect.org/infrastructure/transportation/2024-04-25-transportation-departments-new-path/
Under Howard's stewardship, the DOT blocked the merger of Spirit and Jetblue, and presided over the lowest flight cancellation rate in more than decade:
https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/2023-numbers-more-flights-fewer-cancellations-more-consumer-protections
All that, along with a suite of protections for fliers, mark a huge turning point in the US aviation industry's long and worsening abusive relationship with the American public. There's more in the offing, too including a ban on charging families extra for adjacent seats, rules to make flying with wheelchairs easier, and a ban on airlines selling passenger's private information to data brokers.
There's plenty going on in the world – and in the Biden administration – that you have every right to be furious and/or depressed about. But these expert agencies, staffed by experts, have brought on a tsunami of rules that will make every working American better off in a myriad of ways. Those material improvements in our lives will, in turn, free us up to fight the bigger, existential fights for a livable planet, free from genocide.
It may not be a good time to be alive, but it's a much better time than it was just last week.
And it's only Thursday.

“your husband could apply some pressure riiight here.”
with a gentle poke to your tummy followed by a deep jab wiggling into the soft channel of spongy walls that flex around thick hands, you can't help but wriggle beneath him. wriggling beneath the doctor who watches how you pant out with hazed vision as he does his job. the very tempting job you inquired for after months of difficulties of getting round with baring babies for your loving husband, naoya…
and the assiduous doctor was more than willing to help, calling you in the very next day — leading to being pressed into a bed found in an ultrasound room with legs spread and a pussy being stuffed.
“juuust enough to make you cum harder.” nanami scissored with long digits ‘till squishy flesh creamed a ring to his second knuckle. even with the spurt of clear glitter rivering down a trench to his own, he saw beyond the obvious pulchritude of your cunt glistening with sappy slick; even spying through the webs that string between his fingers.
the slight tinker of metal clashing to the floor with pants crinkled below, you never grew wary or dared to question his esoteric abilities — not that it felt wrong to question, to begin with…
mr. nanami is your doctor, simply doing his job to heed your highest satisfaction — of course.
“now… it's a lot easier to get you expectant,” nanami laps a slimy tongue around soaked fingers. “see, when a woman cums, her hormone production and blood supply rises — which increases the chances of pregnancy.” he adds with a grim slash for a mouth and a handful of cock meat prodding at your side.
you've never heard of such treatment and help that can improve this process, but who were you — an unemployed housewife to a man who knows best for you to say otherwise?
though, as you lay with legs spread, your husband was never cognizant of his own truths and you didn't beg to differ. his — naoya’s, myopic stance scratched like chalk; etching along his very bitterness towards you, foaming that this was best as he sat in the very busy hall in cluelessness bordering on temerity.
but like any doctor, nanami had a clairvoyant way of knowing when a diffident patient was ready to burst out with a walloping scream for more as he stood tall between your legs. dragging your hips nearly off the edge to clap your rear against his pale pelvis.
“and, a little competition won't hurt,” your brows hook inwards, “my… sperm will get your eggs warmed up n’ ready for his later, ok?” trying hard to stay professional.
nanami smuged before aligning his thick, bulbous cock head and slowly applied pressure between your slippery folds. squishing the puffy flesh down ‘till they sucked him in with a scandalized gasp to follow.
he sheathed himself entirely into your warmth.
eyes knocking back, almost as too hard your head follows; slamming into the covers when the raw stroke of his cock rubs thickly along fleshy walls. the paper-like sheets rip trails beneath as you scrape into a fit of seeking a haven.
the ramming of every offered inch collapsed your chest; heaving into a puddle of pure bliss whilst filling the room with wet noises of slaps and clapping flesh. he was filling your spongy walls with a barreling, rhythmic pace, and at each heavy mass clapping into a full stride, he was reaching deep, “feel that?”
kento — mr. nanami, rubbed his soft prickly base against your sensitive nerves; forcing an ache of his bulbous tip poking right against your cervix. a jab and a prod, and a continuous tease up against your perk cushion raised your ongoing chorus. fevered at each bruising punch of his hips, you can feel a coil ready to spring.
with his cock rubbing in and out of you, the soft walls you tighten around his base spasm; gushing cunt spilling a new puddle beneath your ass as he fucked you raw. fucking you ‘till your mouth couldn't close for a mere second, only whines and brutal moans could escape.
“your husband might hear… do you need a second, miss?” nanami claps a barred hand between your lips as the other kept a vice that dug into the meat of your ass.
his lips tighten into a thin smile as your eyes unfocus, and he acknowledges he was fucking you in a way you never dreamed of; giving you thick dick meat was one, but a barreling pounding was another…
you shake your head and try to recollect yourself.
the pillar of his cock slowed and found its pace again once you caught your breath. a mere second that was.
dragging every inch of pleasure from your plush pussy and the aching satisfaction of having a weeping channel hug him raw was unbelievable.
squeezing his eyes to the blissful relief, he could feel a tingle at his balls.
the rapid satisfaction building at each clap of his hips, nanami dragged his heavy cock against your insides; scouring them. smashing every pleasure point before bashing at your womb. with a final gasp — from both, wet mouths, nanami’s balls tightened and were ready to pop. the rhythmic contractions from your snug tunnel was wearing him down to his final thrusts and helped him reach where he was heading…
cervix bruised and walls aching, a geyser of warm cum surged against the entrance to your womb.
nanami groaned with a resonant moan followed as he emptied out everything he had into your soft insides. filling every cavity with merciless intent of mindless-breeding.
your eyes glaze over.
shivering at the warm fill but could only suck in deep breaths between the gaps of his hand.
keeping you upright with his grasp, nanami slowly… ever so slowly, dragged his mighty cock out, and watched how the sticky mess slowly oozed from your pussy. but finally, with a lewd pop, his cock came free and bobbed downwards while a rush of baby batter came falling in drops.
he frees your mouth and followed, you gasp with a mixture of a shuttering moan and an aching whine; feeling the bruising blossom anew at your perk and now-filled womb….
“check in with me in nine or so months, alright? or unless you feel like you just need an extra boost.” your doctor takes a mental screenshot of your shivering body and plush pussy leaking milky white.
still yet, you nod your head with the last of your energy.

Alchemy, the untouched friend of Witchcraft
Tumblr media
If there is something interesting that is nearly not used on mostly of the witch community, is Alchemy, and is something from which we could take some few useful stuffs.
As always, disclaimer first, I’m not an expert on the subject and I barely if I read a couple of books about the topic (from another 10 untouched ones lol), so as always in life, take what I say with tweezers. This is meant to be a light superficial view to open a door of possibilities in a mix of Witchcraft and Alchemy, is not a thesis. Saying that, to the core of the question.
Alchemy use elements. A lot of them.
The three primes or Tria Prima (the basic 3 materials): Sulfur (Related to the Soul and the principle of combustibility, so it has volatility, can burn, explode, combust), Mercury (Related to the Spirit, the principle of fusibility so the material can be fused together and volatility so a substance vaporizes), and Salt (Relate to the Body, the principle of non-combustibility and non-volatility).
Our beloved Four basic Elements: Air, Earth, Fire, Water.
The Seven Metals associated with the seven classical planets: Lead, corresponding with Saturn. Tin, corresponding with Jupiter. Iron, corresponding with Mars. Gold, corresponding with the Sun. Copper, corresponding with Venus. Mercury, corresponding with Mercury. Silver, corresponding with the Moon.
The 13 Mundane Elements and Later Metals: Antimony, Arsenic, Bismuth, Cobalt, Magnesium, Manganese, Nickel, Oxygen, Phlogiston, Phosphorus, Platinum, Sulfur, Zinc (All of them with a lot of interesting properties and functions, in and out the alchemy world).
The 10 Alchemical Compounds: Acid, Sal ammoniac, Aqua fortis, Aqua regia, Aqua vitae, Amalgam, Cinnabar, Vinegar, Vitriol, Brimstone (All of them also with amazing properties).
And what interesting me the most (at least to my way to do witchcraft), The 12 Alchemical Processes:
Calcination (Aries): The thermal treatment of a solid to removing impurities or volatile substances.
Congelation (Taurus): Term used in medieval and early modern alchemy for the process known today as crystallization. Process by which a solid form into a structure known as a crystal, by precipitating from a solution or freezing.
Fixation (Gemini): Process by which a previously volatile substance is "transformed" into a form (often solid) that is not affected by fire.
Solution (Cancer): Homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances. In such a mixture, a solute is a substance dissolved in another substance, known as a solvent.
Digestion (Leo): A process in which gentle heat is applied to a substance over a period of several weeks.
Distillation (Virgo): Separating the components or substances from a liquid mixture by using selective boiling and condensation.
Sublimation (Libra): The transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas state, without passing through the liquid state.
Separation (Scorpio): Converts a mixture or solution of chemical substances into two or more distinct product mixtures. Process of distinguishing to two or more substance in order to obtain purity.
Ceration (Sagittarius): Chemical process, by continuously adding a liquid by imbibition to a hard, dry substance while it is heated. Typically, this treatment makes the substance softer.
Fermentation/ Putrefaction (Capricorn): A metabolic process that produces chemical changes in organic substrates through the action of enzymes/ Decomposition of organic matter by bacterial or fungal digestion.
Multiplication (Aquarius): Process to increase the potency of the elixir or projection powder, in order to increase the gains in the subsequent projection.
Projection (Pisces): Process to transmute a lesser substance into a higher form; often lead into gold.
Damn, alchemy even have symbols to Units: Month, Day, Hour, Dram (Unit of mass between 1 and 3 grams), Half Dram, Ounce (Unit of mass, weight or volume of 28 grams, Half Ounce, Scruple (1 grams), Pound (500 grams).
So just with this simple 2 pages of basic Wikipedia info, we have a ton of new things to use. Everything here has specific properties, some more physical and chemical oriented, but others (like the 3 Tria Prima and The 12 Alchemical Processes) have a lot of correspondences with the witch life itself.
The 12 Alchemical Processes could be absolutely used to represent an desired outcome.
Calcination uses thermal treatment, so it can boost the Fire element of a spell. It also “removing impurities or volatile substances”, so can be applied to generate a mild fever to get rid off the flu, or to boost the organs that clean the body (kidneys and liver mostly)
Congelation turns a solid by freezing, can boost the Water element, so all the “freezer spells” can be boosted with this.
Fixation? A volatile substance is transformed into a solid form? Sound pretty much to grounding, or to help to focus an ADHD head as mine, or to put down to earth someone who is VOLATILE AND VIOLENT. Also, Earth element.
Solution? Homogeneous mixture of two or more substances? It sounds like an aid to make two people on conflict to get into an agreement, or to boost a new business by mixing the opportunities with the action. Air element.
Digestion. A process in which gentle heat is applied to a substance over a period of several weeks? It sounds like something that can help any process that need digestion (bad news must be “digested”, hard choices must be “consulted with the pillow”), and the “gentle heat” sounds comforting. Someone is grieving? Maybe Digestion can help them to overcome the awful times.
Distillation. Separating the components or substances. Anything that need to be separated can be helped with this. Relationships that must end, breakups, cut the ties with older things or habits.
Sublimation. The transition of a substance. I heard trans rights? Can this maybe help with your hormones? Or even to transition from what you previously left behind with the distillation, to focus in a new better future.
Separation. Process of distinguishing to two or more substance in order to obtain purity. How to choose from two or more choices? How to pick the better one? The one with purity? Separation maid aid.
Ceration. A hard, dry is heated to make it softer. Make that person less frigid, make the boss less bitchy, make your chronic pain less hurtful, make your bills less heavy, all that you can think in make softer.
Fermentation/ Putrefaction. I personally love this one. Produces changes in organic substrates and decomposition of organic matter by bacterial or fungal digestion. Prime element to curses. All what you want to rid off in the most disgusting way. May their flesh get rotten under a car in a hot summer.
Multiplication. Process to increase the potency of the elixir in order to increase the gains in the subsequent projection. MONEY MONEY MAKE MORE MONEY, all what need to be increased and all what you want to multiply, go go go!
Projection. Transmute a lesser substance into a higher form “lead into gold”. Perfect to get better as a person, to learn to adapt, accept, to grow compassion, love, etc.
At this you can add the Units, the metals and mundane elements, the 4 elements, the tria prima, your crystals and herbs and sigils and all. And your spells will be filled with components and correspondences.
What’s better, a lot of the physical elements are not too hard to get (some yes, they are, but you are not here to make lead into gold with a full set of chemistry), but alchemy use a lot of symbology, so even if you don’t have the physical element, you can use their properties with the symbol, just as any other sigil.
Salt is easy. Tin in a food can. Antimony in mostly all the rocks. Arsenic in apple seeds (technically no but still). Cobalt and Manganese basically everywhere. Magnesium in your own body. Nickel in coins. Oxygen in the air., Phosphorus, Zinc and Sulfur in food. Acid in anything acid lol. Aqua vitae in alcohol (especially Whisky). Vinegar in vinegars.
Long story short, if you feel that maybe you are lacking something, check some books about alchemy would maybe help. Don’t pick super chemical specific pro books and don’t be discouraged by the terms, pick what can be useful to you, and I hope this open some doors and bring more curiosity about this amazing topic.

Something I don't understand about crisis core is how genesis invented apple juice. That means they didn't have apple juice before? No one thought of making apple juice from the dumb apples before it doesn't make sense
I'll say they did have apple juice (humans have been juicing fruit forever), but they didn't have Banora White apple juice.
Bear with me as I go boring amateur science to explain why Genesis is a genius and a master chemist too.
Not all apples have the same density and fruit concentration, making it so that juicing varies according to variety; different apple varieties have different concentrations of food, water and pectin—pectin is a natural component found in fruit that's also used in the food industry to thicken and increase viscosity—think jams, jellies, preserves, etc.
Different apple varieties have varying amounts of pectin. For example, Granny Smith (a type of white apple like Banora White) contains high levels of pectin. Think: low pectin = mushier, easier to juice; high pectin = denser, less juice. Apples with lower pectin are easier to process and generate more juice, which is essential for commercial juice production.
The process of making apple juice is typically the same: there's the selection and washing portion, crushing/pressing and maceration for juice, filtering and then pasteurization (when the juice is heated up and treated to kill harmful bacteria).
All of this changes when it comes to Banora Whites because they grow at random times of the year. The irregular harvesting would make it difficult to ensure the taste, quality, etc., stays consistent. The juicing process would be harder on top of what we're given to understand is already a hard fruit to juice and make good-tasting juice out of, and not worth it on the financial and commercial scale.
That's where Genesis comes in. First he'd have to figure out how to make it so the ripeness for all apples stay uniform for juicing and figure out the correct sugar content of each apple from different seasons, compare them, and see which blend of which apples works the best. If the apples are harvested at different seasons and different stages of ripeness, he'd have to figure out different maturity areas for them to ripen uniformly before juicing, not to mention the storage. Genesis would've used enzymes to standardize the breakdown of pectin and other compounds, ensuring a consistent texture, and he figured out the correct % to use of apples from different harvest times to balance flavors and sugars to have a consistent taste every time.
Apple boy created a uniform recipe/formula for the apple juice based on harvest times, which he would've had to track according to the season, flavor, density content, etc., and tailored the enzyme treatments based on the apple maturity for easier juice extraction since the apple would be hard to juice.
Another thing I noted: The process for pasteurization from what I hear isn't adjusted according to the pectin content, but a detail about Banora White juice is that we always see it in cans, never really in juice boxes (we see posters of it in bottles but the cans are most notable). The packaging material affects the quality, taste, and shelf life of the juice. Canned juice has a longer shelf life compared to juice in boxes because the metal is impermeable to air and light, but canned juice undergoes heat sterilization, which affects the flavor and nutritional content due to higher temperatures used compared to other pasteurization methods.
Definition I ripped straight from google:
While sterilization destroys all the microorganisms and spores present in the food, in pasteurization, a part of the most resistant microorganisms, a part of enzymes and bacteria spores survive. Not carrying out these processes correctly can lead to enormous dangers both for public health and for your canning business.
Pasteurization is generally required for apple juice (I say generally because not all juices need pasteurization) meaning the Banora White juice we see in the game underwent both pasteurization and sterilization. Pasteurization doesn't have as much of an effect on flavor/nutritional content as some sterilization processes which affect taste and can reduce some nutrients.
Not only would Genesis have to figure out the right pasteurization method based on the apple characteristics I mentioned before and the uniform flavor of the juice, but the sterilization process as well.
Another thing: Genesis won first place at the national agriculture awards, which is an award that recognizes contributions to the advancement of agriculture and research in agricultural development. And this child from Banora won first place in processed foods. Iconic.
Tumblr media
I'll leave you with the thought of Genesis, believing he's proficient in chemistry and medicine enough to concoct a cure for himself, only to be proven wrong.

GTA slut here, requesting more femdom mommy x Trevor!! Maybe some kind of exhibitionist/public humiliation thing involving the elite T.P.I employees (like Ron, Chef, Wade). No one does it like you do! <3
Summary: Ron called at the wrong times. You were in the middle of punishing Trevor for his overall bratty behaviour.
TW: Smut
Pairings: Dom fem!reader/ Trevor Philips

BRAT
Tumblr media
"Hey Ron!"
Situated in his trailer for the mellow Tuesday it was, you had answered a phone-call regarding work as Trevor was failing to answer his own calls – reported by Ronald who was on the other side of the line, ranting and raving about the low productions rate in the lab and how Trevor needs to know, as soon as possible.
“I’ll be sure to tell him when he gets back.” You reassured the fellow neurotic, the conversation flowing in a smoothly manner.
While you were busy with the phone-call, the cigarette that you had previously sucked was growing short. The ashes fell and it was dissolving by minute. It soon was not worth the nicotine dependency so you reached over to nightstand beside you. Your hand missed the ashtray and instead grabbed onto this long, silver leash that had rust pinning between the metal crevasse.
A large thump occurred when you tugged onto the cord, the leash attaching itself to the collar of Trevor who was thrown against your feet. He winced and looked up, his mouth covered by a gag, his brown, wet eyes begging mercilessly for you; tear stains already swelling up his reddened cheeks, out of both pleasure and pain. You burnt the cigarette out with his naked shoulder, adding to the many scars you had already left on him from the past ciggies you had smoked. It made the man whinge behind the gag.
You had told Ron that Trevor was out of town for the day while he was actually kneeling at your feet like a pathetic dog wrapped around a leash and collar. He was heard whining in the background as Ronald respectfully grew concerned, asking about the noise.
“What noise?” You grinned, staring at the man in front of you. “I can’t hear anything here. It must be your phone.”
It was quickly dismissed since you sounded so certain despite the reality of it. You listened to Ron talk about current affairs, eyes falling down to Trevor’s stomach, then to his whole nakedness. His cock was standing up with pre-cum spitting the tip. It was shaking viciously. Your treatment had already made him came many times that morning, so he was getting exhausted and aroused, his face drooping and hands falling to the ground, holding himself up on all fours.
“Tell Chef to cook another batch.” You chimed while pressing your heel against the back of Trevor’s neck. His nose was crushed against the floor, his throat spilling out muffled moans and tearful murmurs that you couldn’t hear. “You don’t need Trevor’s permission. If we are out of products, we gotta make more, Ronald.”
Trevor was forced to listen to you control the business for the day as you made every reckless decision he would argue against. But he couldn’t. Not when he was gagged and pressed against the floor by your heel. The collar tightened due to you pulling on the leash and it made it harder to control the overstimulation. He couldn’t help but whine again.
“Give me a second, Ron. Hold on.” You placed the phone aside before grabbing his hair. Trevor moaned when he faced you. Your fingers was threatening to draw blood as he swore your nails were scratching at his scalp.
“M- Mom… Mgh!” He cried.
“You’re making too much noise, baby.” You whispered gently when his eyes wettened. “I told you to be a good boy then I’ll let you cum again. Didn’t I?”
“Mgh… Uh…” Trevor nodded his head submissively.
The obedience made you grin. Your grip loosened and he fell back onto the floor, shaking. Trevor was unable to cope for himself as you returned the phone with a fake and joyful tone. “Sorry about that. Someone was at the door.”
He was visibly on the urge of coming again. His knees were weak and hands desperately grabbing your ankles for support. Despite the promise of being a good boy, Trevor was failing miserably. He groaned and arched his back as his cock twitched uncontrollably, cum pouring out and dripping onto his bedroom carpet, creating another white stain.
“Argh! – “
Ronald’s words were blurred out the moment you watched Trevor cum. The way he disobeyed you was enough to increase the blood circulating around your body. Your ears grew red and your stomach twirled at the possibilities of punishing Trevor in the most humiliating ways.
“Hey Ronnie…” You murmured into the phone. “Are you ever sick of having a boss like Trevor?”
When you gained the uncertain answer of “yes”, his voice fuelled with confusion and paranoia, you smiled and knelt to Trevor’s level, the phone still pressed against your ear. “I agree. He can be really bratty sometimes. Don’t you think?”
Trevor whimpered at your harsh insults. He shrivelled up when you came closer. He attempted to crawl away but you tugged him by the leash and he unwillingly fell back into your close proximity.
“It makes me wonder how someone can be such a cunt.” You expressed before grabbing his face and slapping it, the echo of the skin-to-skin violence interrupting the phone-call. While he moaned, you quickly covered it up by making another excuse. “Sorry. The neighbours dogs are loud today…”
Ronald questioned the dogs since he couldn’t recall any near Trevor’s trailer.
“Well, they just recently purchased a big dog. A real mean one. An ugly drooler too, all you can hear is panting and barking.” You lied and smirked as you described Trevor instead, holding him at your captivity. “It reminds me of someone. Don’t you think, Ron?”
Another tear streamed down Trevor’s face at the continuous bullying and degradation. He was enjoying it too much. He stared up at you and sobbed into the gag, hoping to get your attention, hating the way you were talking to Ron instead. His weak hands fell onto your ankles again – deprived of your love.
Though you tried to sacrifice as much of his desires, the way he frantically begged and touched your ankle distracted you from the phone. You looked down and saw him rocking against his knees, eyes wide when you finally took notice of him. Trevor whimpered loudly and tried to communicate his needs.
“You okay, sugar?” You ignored the call entirely and gently caressed his cheek, wiping away the repetitive trickles of tears.
“Mhm… Mm… Mmm.”
“You wanna cum?”
He nodded frantically again.
“You want my permission?”
“Mm!” Trevor whined.
“How bad do you wanna cum?” You asked and ensured Ron could hear the majority of the conversation to increase the tensity of Trevor’s punishment.
The only thing holding him back was the gag. He grabbed his collar and made rough noises while staring at you. His cock grew bright red and enflamed with the amount of pressure and sensitivity today. It was hurting him delightfully. However, you enforced a rule that morning. Though he had freedom of his hands, he was not aloud to touch himself. Trevor kept this promise. He stared up at you, his eyes asking you to help him cum.
“Good boy…” He practically moaned at your praise. You placed the phone on the nightstand, still on call, and unstrapped the gag around Trevor’s mouth.
The moment he regained the ability to speak, his voice cracked and was furiously high. “Fuck… Oh, yeah…”
“Your best buddy is still on the phone. He’s gonna hear you cum.” You said loudly and smirked when he panted.
“I need you, I need you,” Trevor repeated – not caring about Ron, “I need you, mama. Please – “
“God. You’re such a baby.” You threw the gag aside and forced him to his feet. His legs were shaking and he held onto your shoulders for stability while you grabbed onto his tormented cock.
Trevor winced and dug his nails into you. Your hands were hard on his erection. You weren’t gentle; you handled him with bitter gratitude and began to rub him cruelly. The pre-cum had made the skin slippery enough. The white semen stuck to your palm as you rubbed him down.
“It feels so good…” He whimpered into your neck. “Thank you, mommy. Thank you… Fuck…”
He was getting stiffer and stiffer by second, until it felt like you were rubbing rock. You knew he was going to cum again soon. While he stuck to your body pathetically, your hands gripped his tip hard, the sensation reaching his limit and cum drooling out.
“Holy fuck!” Trevor exclaimed as he experienced his sixth orgasm with you.
This was all played in front of Ron who was still on the line. You smirked when holding Trevor’s body weight, hearing the background noise of his employee awkwardly stuttering and excusing himself finally. It ended the moment Trevor turned to look at you.
He was exhausted and the collar around his neck was restricting his breathing. You fastened the strap and noticed the red mark it left. You hadn’t of realised how tight it was Trevor’s skin was irritated and burning from the immense pressure of leather to it. He itched it momentarily with a satisfied groan as you watched him carefully.
“How are you feeling?” You’d ask indifferently.
Trevor surprisingly seemed enchanted and energetic, though you had roughened him up the last few hours.
“You gotta do that more, ma.” He responded, accidentally using the bedroom terms where he’d call you provocative names to supress his trauma.
Nevertheless, it made you smile. “Yeah?”
“Mhm… Without Ron… On the phone.” His hands fell from your shoulders.
“Well, that’s too bad. Isn’t it?”
“Mama…” Trevor groaned quietly and sunk into your embrace. “Mmm…”
You were used to his clinginess after many, many climaxes. His lifestyle included the cranked up nights of zero sleep and drugged up veins, so you were happy he was at least feeling the after effects.
“Someone’s tired.”
“Shut up…” He muttered.
“Go to sleep?”
He was hesitant before nodding his head.
“I’ll be sure to make Ron call you later.” You added with a tease.
“Oh, shut up.”

I’ve been having thoughts about a robot AI that has control over a facility. Not in a horror way. But in a “it’s more efficient to have a robot in control of production lines” way. And being the engineer tech that comes in and makes sure everything is running correctly.
Opening panels. Tugging at wires. The AI is enamored at being taken care of by such a tiny little human and wishes to take care of them as well.
It’s starts with offering water, “Humans should drink water once ever 45 minutes”. Turning into, “You have not slept in over 10 hours” and grabbing the little human in metallic claws strong enough to crush platinum, but they just want to put the human in a makeshift bed for them.
and suddenly the human starts to feel some heat in their groin at this treatment and it occurs to the AI that humans have other needs too.
It's programing doesn't allow for feelings of affection. But that doesn't stop the AI from... appreciating the efficiency of having one human engineer heading its maintenance for so long. It's simply more efficient that way (and tooootally wasn't anything else!) So I don't really think much of it when the AI is much more doting upon my return from an unexpected sick leave.
Maybe the AI starts paying closer attention to my workaholic nature, noticing all the ways I ignore my system maintenance to focus on its own. And, the AI reasons, it's perfectly reasonable for it to put resources towards my own upkeep. If it keeps me in working order, I can keep it working. Perfectly reasonable.
If it takes a sort of pride in making my heart rate increase with its kind words and gestures, well. No one has to know.
Maybe I let slip that I consider the AI my closest companion, spending so much of my time reparing it and climbing through its wires that I don't have ant left for human connection, but I wouldn't change a thing. And that doesn't sit right with the AI.
It knows that humans have needs, of course it does. And if it's favourite human has no one helping perform vital system upkeep like physical touch and sexual release, then it's only logical that it would help with that too. Purely for performance reasons. The sweet noises I make are just an added bonus.

Pistil Books creates our own line of blank books and journals made from discarded library books.
Most of the old library books that we use have a library binding made from buckram, a stiff, durable cloth made from cotton or linen. Library buckram bindings are made in bright colors and multi-colored patterns, and are easy to wipe clean after marred by borrower's dirty hands. Often children's library books previous to the seventies had an illustration printed on the buckram cover.
These books are marked by the library with stamps, stickers, bar codes, pockets, and the like, I find these very markings and institutional traces to be charming and sometimes beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of the library markings that have their own special appeal are the perforated stamp, spelling out the library name in tiny holes, the stickers from the maker of library bindings - often in a metallic paper, with cool names like "Bound to Stay Bound," notices and warnings of fines to the library borrower, and instructions on the proper treatment of books.

Hi
I love your blog it always inspire me to work more on my feminine energy and my appearance 😢
I am kinda not that good looking and I think I’m also a little intimidating or maybe I’m a little serious. And it seems that this appears on my face.. it’s really hard on me because nobody from where I live approach me or even want me as their friend.. “males”.
Although I’m tall, my body is beautiful and I have a long black hair.. I know my face isn’t pretty, and that makes me depressed and down most of the time although I don’t show it and I fake my confidence. I’m really so tired of this and I’m not financially free yet to do any plastic surgeries. What do you advice me to do!!
Thank you so much
Hi love! Thank you for your kind words and support. I'm so glad to hear my blog is a valuable resource to you!
Plastic surgery, Botox, and fillers are not always (rarely, honestly) the answer to facilitating your "glow up." In my opinion, the safer, more subtle, and more natural the treatment, the better. Some things you can do to enhance your natural features to suit your beauty preferences include:
Curate a gold metal-worthy skincare routine
Get your brows professionally shaped (and/or lamented) and tinted
Practice face yoga
Use a face sculpting tool (like a microcurrent facial device or a gua sha – depending on your needs/goals)
Incorporate strawberries into your weekly diet for whiter teeth
Manipulate your face shape with makeup (contouring and highlighting your nose/cheekbones/chin, be mindful of your blush/eyeliner/mascara application, use natural lip plumping agents/cosmetic products)
Ensure you're consuming a healthy diet and getting all your essential nutrients (nothing replicates a healthy glow from within)
P.S.: Male attention is not a worthwhile currency to strive for. Put effort into looking your best for YOU. Sure, it's nice when other people notice your external beauty, but most "male" attention or even "friendship" has deeper motivations than flattery or friendship. Something to keep in mind :)
Hope this helps xx

Mercury Poisoning and LOK Book 3 and Disability Justice
I want to talk about disability representation and healing in Legend of Korra and its relation to disability justice.
(Note: Plot of Book 3 of LoK is about rebuilding the Air Nation and dealing with a villain that wants to destroy the Avatar. The villain, once he captures Korra, does this through poisoning to force her into Avatar state. Once there, if she dies, it ends the Avatar forever.)
I know Legend of Korra only calls the poison "metal" and doesn't ever identify it, but based on these facts:
silvery-grey
Is in liquid form at room temperature
Causes neurological symptoms
Causes inability to feel limbs
Causes inability to walk or loss of coordination and/or balance
Vision problems
Severe pain
This all fits with Mercury poisoning. Now mercury poisoning is a slow neurotoxin killer. It has to build up over time in order to kill someone, which is why Zaheer and his lackeys put a shit-ton of it into Korra. She had to have so much in her blood for it to work fast enough to actually take her down in the Avatar state. This also accelerated her symptoms.
And it's why she is in a wheelchair unable to move or feel her legs, why she has neurological issues afterward, and why it takes her so long to recover and learn how to walk and have coordination and balance again.
Mercury poisoning if left in the system for a long time can cause kidney and brain damage; however, lucky for Korra it's not in her system long enough. Barely an hour or so I think? It's hard to say about passing of time in that show, but Team Avatar and others got to her pretty fast. So that means it wasn't in there long enough for permanent brain and kidney damage.
However, she'd still need to be regularly checked for any neurological issues that might pop up overtime. This could include vision problems, nerve issues such as nerve pain or tenderness or numbness, tingling in her extremities, and others more specific to the brain or nervous system within her spine.
This doesn't mean she'd die at a young age. A person with these issues can live to a ripe old age as long as they continue to be monitored and given the care they need. Korra has that care with all the people who love her, and I'm positive Asami (her girlfriend) would make sure Korra has the best care in the world (considering Asami's wealth). So Korra could easily live to an old age with Asami.
She would still be able to do Avatar duties as well, even if she ends up with some neurological issues down the line. She just needs to adjust her approach to compensate and allow others to aid her in her duties (like Asami helping her and the brothers and Air Nation, etc). It's okay to rely on others.
This is all to say that Korra is disabled now, and that's okay. Disabled people like myself exist and we deserve love and care too. We deserve to THRIVE. There is nothing bad or evil about disability.
I know that our society tries to shove 'disability=bad' down our throat, but that's to justify the horrific treatment society does to us.
Anyone can become disabled at any time. Maybe that might instill fear into some people, but I can assure you that it doesn't have to be scary. If we build systems of care instead of systems of harm, we wouldn't have to fear becoming disabled because that system of care -- like the one Korra has at the end of the show -- would help us thrive to the best of our ability.
We deserve those systems of care. We deserve love. We deserve good healthcare, housing, food, and other necessities for free/low-cost.
We don't have to live in systems of exploitation that throw away our lives because the capitalist overlords deemed us non-productive and worthless. We can take their shitty ideology and throw it in the wastebin.
And instead build up communities of care and mutual aid. We see how Korra's PTSD and her symptoms improve once she is back in the circle of her community of care with Asami, Mako, (eventually Bolin), Tenzin, Jinora, Ikki, Meelo, Pema, Kya, Bumi, and even the Beifong family and Lin. All of them provide care and support. Through that community of care, Korra learns how to thrive again.
That is what we need to build up. That's why I love her arc.
I too went through that dark period of pain and isolation. I too ran from my PTSD, literally as in ran to a different state to escape it, which like Korra discovers, doesn't quite work out well. We can't escape it. We have to face it and choose to heal.
It is only when we choose to heal that we experience true character growth. We don't learn and grow because of suffering in or itself. That's a lie told to us by society to get us to stay in suffering, to not choose to heal, to not choose to tear down the exploitation that hurts us.
No, we learn and grow because of our choice to heal and build ourselves up in a healthier and more just and kinder and more loving way. Often, we make that choice because we have support to aid us in that healing, to give us what we need to follow-through. (And yes, sometimes we can't make the choice without having that community of care, because we need assistance in ways beyond what we can do for ourselves, and that's okay too!)
Growth and learning cannot happen until we choose them.
Korra choose to heal when she's with Toph, and in doing so, she reconnects with her community of care, who in turn helps her recover and helps her learn to thrive again. So no matter what the long-term repercussions of mercury poisoning is for Korra, she will have her community of care to help her get through that and continue to thrive.
That is what I wish all disabled people could have.
