CHARACTER HISTORY [TRIGGER WARNING FOR CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT]

The Konstenko name is gilded in grace overseas, holding a titular title as one of the most prestigious families devoted to professional ballet. Anichka Konstenko, following her own mother’s footsteps, paved the path for the engraving of their name in the industry as one of the youngest dancers to be part of three separate international companies and taking a lead at just sixteen years old. Her platform was built on the strength of her delicacy but also her insistence that she was far from fragile. However, her career that was promising to go farther than the usual retirement of most dancers was brought to an abrupt hault. Anichka became pregnant and was not only unable to dance, but never able to renew her contract again with the age in which she wanted to jump back in.

However, Anichka refused to believe her career was over and meshed into her new life as a mother to Romanyuk. She believed her son carried her talents and lovingly cultivated them for success following everything she had done right in her career, and avoiding everything she had done wrong. It was more than luck that her son carried the same passion she did but instead of feeding into a shared love, it drew out an obsession. Roman’s proficiency didn’t just encourage her and reinstate her sense of value, but challenged her own perception of her career. Her love grew into a hate where whether Roman moved along impressively or fell behind compared to previous performances. Dance was truly his guardian not only as what raised him, but protected him as it allowed him to create some distance between him and his abuser by attending dance academies in Ukraine, Russia, and France where he followed his mother’s reputation of signing with various companies to learn new techniques.

Despite the cushion of his mother’s reputation, Roman had different standards to follow as a man in ballet and her namesake only allowed so much for him to climb. He learned, just as his mother had before him, that he could use his body and sex to get not only what he needed but what he wanted even if he wasn’t deserving of it.

At fifteen, he took a the opportunity to get out from his mother’s thumb. There was an opening in the Los Angeles Ballet Company, miles away from his home. It was a risk to try and apply at his age, but he was accepted upon his background. He devoted his time to as many challenging productions as he could even if the shows were tied smaller theaters and operas, or carried an experimental title. Roman learned to measure his worth on how far he could push his body.

His name didn’t carry much power in America, and he had to find a way to support himself upon limited funding. It was once again through his body that he learned to get what he needed, and he used his charm to get what he simply wanted as well.

PRESENT DAY

Roman’s career, however, is coming to its end and soon enough he feels he’ll have to return home. He suffered an injury to his hip that was deemed the butchering of his ability to dance, but he pushed through. The only trouble is that the most he pushes it, he risks more than just not being able to go up on stage. Roman, however, is determined to go out with a bang if this is what costs him ever dancing professionally again so he continues to push himself hard.

HEADCANONS [TRIGGER WARNING FOR ALCOHOLISM, VIOLENCE]

Roman has a slight accent no matter how hard he tries to hide it, specifically around ‘a’ vowels. When he’s drunk, it’s very thick and he tends to lose most English pronunciation.

He can speak English and Ukrainian fluently, understands Russian and French, but he cannot read French well at all and tends to mispronounce a lot. This is because he attended school in the three countries where he had to learn enough to understand instruction.

As a means of coping with essentially running away from his life in Europe and the possibility that his dance career is over, Roman has dabbled in drinking socially. As of late, once he starts drinking he can’t stop. He takes advantage of the fact that he’s celebrating to the extent that the dance company knows to keep him around for recognition at the beginning of events, and then quickly have him escorted home.

His biggest vice at the moment? Dance can only do so much, and even though he’s determined to keep doing it, Roman knows he has to find somewhere else to ensure he doesn’t implode. He likes to test his luck with anyone willing to go for a brawl, finding some semblance of comfort in disclosed locations to fight it out.

Starting Over

Waow, I sure have been absent a lot lately huh? More than usual, but also more fierce in trying to say "I'll be back" or not go on hiatus.

We've had a good run. Mario and I. Literally ten years. On and off yes but still, a full decade of me writing the guy and enjoying every second of it. I still say he's one of the muses that came most naturally to me.

It's been a while since I've had a full day of replying to things, getting asks out or musing ... and truthfully, I'm done. This time, I've come to realize that my muse is so far away that I don't see this being remedied. There will be no more coming back from the brink of hiatus hell, no more popping back in to revive the flame. It's over. My run with Mario is at it's end and it pains me to say that really. At least, portraying him. I'll always be a huge fan of his media.

That's the TLDR. If you'd like the rest of my thoughts they'll be below the cut so as to not clutter the dash. Mostly reminiscing and clarifying why I've come to this decision.

One thing about Mario is he's, in my opinion, timeless. Certain aspects of his media are products of their time but still the message, the overall goofiness, and the content within can be enjoyed when or wherever. I remember being a kid and my first foray into his world. It was magical. I fell in love with the simple mechanic of running and jumping to get where you needed mixed in with the other things that came about when the situation called for it. Then I discovered his other escapades into certain genres, chief of all being RPG's. Legend Of The Seven Stars, Paper Mario, and the M&L series. We all know how excellent these titles are for expanding on most corners of this universe with admittedly surface level characters.

But, that's what I think makes this particular franchise beautiful: simple motivations and character archetypes that cascade to make the plots of these games we all love. Mario is a hero. Wherever he can, he will help. The Mushroom Kingdom receives most of his attention naturally but he's not foreign to traveling, getting into a bind and helping people locally. We see parts of him peek out along all his adventures: he's brash, aggressive, passionate, and so many other shades of human.

This inspired me way back when to role-play him. Specifically however I was spurred to come here, tumblr, to be him by my Girlfriend. Usually I'd shrug off specific requests for characters as I have a need for things to flow naturally but I followed her request and never looked back. Ten years later, I'm still typing on this blue wall of a site.

The ups, downs, and all arounds of life have all taken me in various directions but I always would come back ready to be a goof again amongst like-minded people.

Not this time however.

There's just.... something in the air. I don't have the will to force out another reply or even crop another icon. I don't have it in me to muse over the games like I used to. And it's not to say I'm soured to the media. Quite the contrary actually. I bought Brothership day 1 and although I believe there's pacing issues (A la Dream Team) I'm hooked.

I don't feel at home anymore dwelling on this blog.

That's not anyone's fault. And that's okay really. We need to be able to look ourselves in the eye and say when things aren't working out. Being afraid of starting over has held me back in a lot of areas in life, specifically with interpersonal relationships. Not anymore.

I won't be starting again with Mario however. This chapter of my life has come to a close. I hold Mario and by extension my writing as him very close to my heart. Yet, I just don't have it in me anymore.

I'll be honest: I wish to bring joy to people with what I do. It's as much for me as it is you, the person reading this. I can't fake that. I have been for a bit actually. That's not okay.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm using Mario to fill a void in my life.

These kinds of thoughts don't "get to me" per se but why am I asking myself such questions? It all comes full circle to the simple act of logging on and writing for him. I can choose not to be here as I've unfortunately been doing. I can choose to step away and recuperate. What I can't choose however is where my heart lies.

So this is goodbye. Goodbye Mario and all the things I've conjured around him. We had a great run. The spirit of it will live on while I play his games and cheer him on.

This blog and it's predecessor represent an especially tender part of me. Both of them will stay up as a testament to that. I believe I've contacted most of the people I speak with regularly before making this public but if you have any questions OR want further clarification just reach out. I think I've rambled long enough here.

I love you all. Being Mario has been a feeling I'll never be able to replicate or capture ever again and honestly? That's a good thing. These fond memories will live on and I can come back to look at them whenever.

Characterization?

I'm looking for the characters to be played canon accurately or fanon with some of them. If the character is played like the cc! or softened this won't work. A big point to dsmp is that none of the characters are good, and they're all victims (in their own way) at the same time.

Not my preference I'd like the main plot to be with canon characters but I'm open to the idea further down the line.

Litteracy?

I personally like semi-lit to fully literate. I don't mind shorter so long as it isn't one-liners. Of course, I don't mind longer either if you like novella-style roleplay. Overall I'll mirror whatever is sent and try to put effort into furthering the plot.

I look for proper grammar and spelling, but I'm not going to implode if there's one spelling mistake, don't worry.

I write on Discord or through Tumblr messages. Third person, past tense and typically around 200-400 words. I work full-time during the week so I can't guarantee daily replies. Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a long-term kpop roleplay partner. I'll try to keep this as short as possible...we can discuss the details later.

Most importantly, I am 21 years old, so you have to be 18 at the minimum. I will NOT play with minors under any circumstances.

My writing style is 3rd person present tense (though I can do past tense as well). I'd say I'm somewhere between semi literate and literate depending on how the roleplay is going. I don't like replies that are just one sentence but due to work and just life in general, I also can't write 5 paragraphs for each reply. So, anything in between that is fine for me.

I work an 8 to 5 job, but I always try to reply at least once a day. On weekends, I can manage a few more replies usually. If I'll be absent for a couple of days, I'll let you know and I'd appreciate if you could do the same.

As for plots, I'm open for pretty much anything. The only thing I really don't like is alpha/beta/omega dynamics. I have a strong preference for dark plots with lots of hurt/comfort and angst mixed with fluff, so it would be awesome if you would share that sentiment. We can talk about our limits, of course, and I will respect your boundaries if we end up as partners. You should be able to handle smut, though.

I try to keep my portrayals close to canon, though I do tend to add my own personal flare to them as well. If you do something similar/have headcanons about the canon you're portraying, please reach out! I think adding to characters just makes things more fun. 

In all honesty, I mainly just rolelplay Freelance Husbands. Nothing much with OCs or focus on characters outside of the pair. Well, aside from when I do JURGEN focused stuff, usually shipping him with Superball.

If you don't reply to me without notice after a week or so, I will close our DM. If you need a break/want to end RP, just tell me. I know how it is. But ghosting is just not cool.

Formatting.

I write in a third person, semi to literate format. I typically write three paragraphs as a minimum and expect partners to match my length. Often I write more like 3-5+ paragraphs, it just depends on my muse and what's going on in the roleplay. In order to be my RP partner, I do require an example of your writing. I can send one back as well.  This is simply a measure to ensure we both vibe with each other’s styles before getting into roleplay!

Admittedly my primary interest in roleplaying is shipping. I tend to get bored with platonic roleplays. I am a sucker for a good hurt/comfort! Some genres I enjoy are angst, thriller and AUs of all kinds. I do not roleplay unless there is a plot, either. I do love brainstorming them together+hearing your ideas, and I also have some ideas already. I will add I tend to go hardcore into angst at times so if that isn't for you, I may not be the best fit for roleplaying. That being said, a good fluff or other genre can be just as fun.
