IS ANYONE ALIVE OUT THERE???

Hey y'all. It's been a hot minute. From all of us. Suffice it to say, time and life have gotten the better of everyone involved in this horrific little mini-AU, and due to that, these characters we hold dear have been on hold for months, some for years. Life happens, you know?

But that brings me to the point. Due to poor management and impulse decisions, the original Mesaverse canon was left in an extremely poor state for months upon end, leaving little room for new stories, or even characters. So, in a move that has been discussed internally by many of us, we're considering a "Soft Reboot."

In short, what this would entail would be a reset of the Mesaverse timeline, flipping the script back to day dot, giving a fresh start to existing characters and allowing for new ones to be introduced. This would also allow both for former members and newcomers to get an opportunity to organically join the collective. This is an idea that's been in the air for a while, so we'd like some hard numbers to base a decision off of.

I found a cool thing that turns your pictures into music! It’s a little hit-or-miss, since it’s AI, but sometimes you get really cool songs! I plugged in my art of Dr. Blade with her superhero AU counterpart, and got this. It feels like if the Mesaverse (the RP where Dr. Blade is from) was an RPG and Dr. Blade was a shopkeeper.

(( The Mesaverse is a Half-Life AU that my friends and I created via Tumblr RP blogs. We have lore and everything we have just never shared. So here is a small window into the Mesaverse world focusing on two characters, Sebastian Fletcher and Johnathan Pierce, from our AU and how they both make it out of City 17 after the fall of the Citadel. This work was written by both me and my friend since Sebastian is their OC. I hope you enjoy! ))

Everything was chaotic. Buildings were being bombed left and right. Soldiers were flooding the streets shooting anyone and everyone no matter if you were a rebel or an innocent person caught in the middle. People were screaming and running for their lives. The uprising was never going to be easy, they knew this, but now that they were actually doing it.. it almost was too much to handle. The citadel was up in flames, a loud alarm blaring from the looming tower. Suddenly the entire building lit up with a bright blinding light followed by an explosion that left the ground trembling in its wake. Everyone across the city stopped for a moment and turned their attention to the alien building and watched as it all came tumbling down. Been thinking about a monster AU my friends and I came up with about a year or so ago..

Hell its barely a half-life AU.. more like an AU of our actual Half-Life AU the MesaVerse.

But it’s such a bad brain worm that I can’t get rid of. Mostly because of Vampire Chettmen 👀

Other than my friends, would any one be interested in stories of this monster AU?

It’s loosely Half-life. It’s got the HL cast in it but they aren’t the main focus of the story. If any of you used to read a lot of our rp posts on our character blogs it’s mostly focused on Harding and Chettmen.

Uh huh... so do you have any links for the "Mesaverse" fics? I like your writing, so I'd be more than willing to see another side of Chettmen, even if that's different from how he originally was. I love that mad scientist, but if he stays the same fundamental person like you say then I'm convinced.

Aww that is really sweet of you. Sadly no. None of the Mesaverse’s story has been written down in a way we could share it yet. Nor has it really been published outside of our friend group.

We plan to one day, so don’t worry!

But in the mean time I do have a second AU and fic that you can read called Anti-Citizen One. Chett is kind of in it. He doesn’t have as big of a role yet like in RH.

Tho you wanting to know more about the Mesaverse really has me wanting to write a fic series about it. I’ll talk to my friends and see what we can do ;)

Huh. How about that.

So do these other characters also exist in Resistance Hunter in some capacity, or is the "Black Mesaverse" just some random thing that Chettmen is just a part of for some reason? Because he sure does seem different on the blog thingy than in Resistance Hunter.

A few of them do and will. Like you remember a CP spy by the name of Pierce right? He is in the Mesaverse. He is also in Anti-Citizen One.

Think about it like this. Mesaverse is the main AU. And my other two AUs, Anti-Citizen One and Resistance Hunter are two separate AUs where the same characters just happen to also be apart of.

But their main stories can and will be found in the Mesaverse.

And yes Chettmen is for the most part the same sly sneaky man he is no matter which AU he is in. But what makes each Chettmen different is the experiences they deal with in their universes.

The main reason I separated RH chettmen from Mesaverse Chettmen is because of how much he has grown as a character.

When I first started RH I had not met my friends and we had not formed the mesaverse yet. Chettmen was also a fresh new character at the time.

When my friends came along and we all started talking about our characters and creating a story, Chettmen began to grow and evolve as a person. It caused him to change from being just an evil twisted man to now having more depth, an actual personality, morals, values, and emotional struggles.

And when I looked back at the beginning of RH when chettmen was first introduced, i realized he wasn’t the same anymore. I have since then tried to rework him in the newer chapters of RH to show that new side of himself, but I didn’t want to have to change the way he was introduced. People have told me they love when Chettmen was being twisted with Gordon and while that isn’t fully him anymore, at least not the true him, i didn’t want to change it.

So I just separated the two.

Besides there are other reasons for separating them that I can’t talk about unless you wanna be spoiled on RH’s ending LOL!

B- Black Mesaverse? What the hell? I have so many questions, but the important ones probably are "What is the AU about?" and "Who came up with that fucking name?"

Well its mostly referred to as the Mesaverse but its full name is the Black Mesaverse. Its what ever.

My group of friends and I made up the AU and the name.

Like i said before the AU itself is basically about all of our characters existing in the Half-Life world and basically about their lives as they go through the motions of the canon half life timeline.

Like all of our characters worked at black mesa then they went through the ResCas, then it follows the stories of those who did survive and how they are having to live through the 7 hour war and in the post apocalypse. Then eventually the hl2 events happen.

Its rather fascinating actually. The real AU story has never really been shared outside of our friend group. Tho we all wish to one day share it with the world! I may one of these days write a fic about Chettmen’s side of the whole thing.

It has a lot of individual characters with their own parts to play.

But basically don’t go looking on my Chettmen RP blog for any lore about it, cause its mostly just where we as a group fuck around with our characters and basically see what sticks as far as character development is concerned.

I recently read through Resistance Hunter and wasn't prepared for Chettmen to... show up on Tumblr? I don't know what's happening anymore. Can you explain the lore implications?

Oh do you mean his little rp blog I have? Funny thing! That rp blog is actually for a different AU all together so that Chettmen is not the same one as the one in Resistance Hunter. I mean they are the same person with the same personality, but their worlds and experiences are vastly different.

The tumblr blog Chettmen is more like his “canon” timeline and it takes place in an AU called the Black MesaVerse. That AU isn’t much different from Half-Life canon except for the OCs and ships me and my friends have in it.

The MesaVerse follows canon timeline rules where gordon isn’t taken by the combine at the start of HL2.

Where as the Resistance Hunter AU does not because Gordon is taken by the Combine instead of Barney.

So therefore the two AUs are parallel timelines to one another, in a sense.

Hope this clears things up!

Oh and also the shit we talk about and rp about on tumblr with our character blogs isn’t fully canon to the MesaVerse either, thats just where we like to fuck around. So take a lot of the events that happen or have happened on those blogs with a grain of salt.

Also Chettmen may or may not be in my other AU fic, Anti-Citizen One which would be yet a different timeline from the other two!

Reading back through some of Resistance Hunter gives me whip lash.

Chettmen has done a lot of much needed character development while I’ve been RPing as him in the MesaVerse AU and talking to my new friends in our discord about him.

RH Chettmen has slowly drifted away from being how Chettmen actually acts. Its almost like they are two different people.

So don’t be surprised if when I start working on RH again if Chettmen seems to act and talk slightly different.

Cause now Chettmen’s personality is more than just “evil and sociopathic” at least before the ResCas. He’ll still act evil and shit in RH but.. there is now more to him than that.

Oh my this is random but very welcome! I’m not used to people wanting to know about my characters lol

Andrea mainly exists in the Mesaverse AU that my friends and I made.

Andrea is from Portugal. Her father is Portuguese and her mother is Filipino. She can speak 3 languages but is mainly fluent in Portuguese. English and Filipino are the other languages she knows.

She is a very loving person and will mother anyone younger than her. She would make a wonderful mother but cannot have kids. While she is very loving she can be strict and brutal when needed, which is perfect for someone who is head of HR at Black Mesa.

She is also a wonderful cook and believes in feeding her loved ones well with home cooked meals. Her food is to die for.

She is 36 and stands at 5’5”

She eventually marries the head of security, Michael Harding (who belongs to my friend @incorrect-half-life-quotes). But prior to black mesa she was supposed to marry another man but he left her once they figured out she could not bare children. 

I believe that is all for now. The HL2 timeline of the Mesaverse isn’t exactly set in stone so not much can be said about what happens after the ResCas. But I know she does survive Black Mesa and the 7 hour war.
