Adding one point: the rest of the Fellowship are clearly too polite and well-brought-up to swear this nastily! Especially not in front of people they don’t know well. Nobody else uses hobbit last names. It’s just Gandalf.

So Gandalf just curses constantly, with incredible violence and salinity, singling out Pippin in particular as little bitch whipping boy. This adds fascinating colour to the environment. People are SO uncomfortable about it! But the little fuckers don’t seem to mind
