Humans Are Extinct (Yandere!TWST x Fem!Reader) Monster AU pt 31
Tumblr media
(Alistair is an Alicorn and crowned prince of The Queendom of Roses. He has only seen the Human once at the Spelldrive Tournament and has since been trying to find a way to interact with the Human. As crowned prince, Alistair is expected to be present for the Human's visit to the Queendom and act as the headsman for the execution. He has executed monsters in the past for trying to poach him- as Alicorn horns, hooves, and wings are a high-price item- and has zero problem carrying out the Huoshu Rat's execution as well)
Warnings: yandere, multiple yanderes, new places and new faces, platonic yandere (Ortho), slight conflict between guards, discussion of accommodations, keep the youngins close, Harpy, Shinigami, Hellcat, Drider, Dragon, Merman, Unicorn, Nemean Lion, Pegasus, Alicorn,
~~~~~~~~
"-and remember, you can always call and we will open the portal right back up to bring you all back. Don't hesitate to reach out to us for anything. I will also be sending professor Divus through halfway into the week for the execution to ensure no one tries anything during it. And if you need money-"
You stopped listening to the Crow as he went over the plan for your visit to the Queendom for the tenth time in the last hour. It was only natural he was worried and stressed, but you were tired of hearing the same thing over again despite it all. If anything, you were less worried about yourself and more worried about Ortho and Grim.
Grim is a Hellcat and uncommon to the land of Twisted Wonderland, meaning he is a rare commodity that others may try to take. Ortho is partly mechanical and relies on his mechanical pieces to keep him alive and for mobility, if someone shut down those mechanics, Ortho would die. The two of them are both safest and in the most danger by your side and you wanted to make sure they stayed safe throughout the event.
Naturally, Ortho was bouncing in excitement instead of stress as he ran circles around you with Grim. Both of them had been playing chase and yelling about how excited they were to see the Queendom despite the actual event you were going to witness. Grim was excited and you weren't entirely sure he understood that you all would be going there and staying there for the week, knowing how homesick he got when he stayed with you in the Savanaclaw dorm.
Beyond that, all you were doing at that point was waiting for Rook and Riddle to show up with their bags, as it was an impromptu packing for this week long trip. Malleus was ready to go the second you named him as a guard, and Leona was faster than the others to prepare himself for the trip. You vaguely wondered what was taking Riddle so long to prepare as he was typically the most organized of the group. Even Floyd was ready to go and keen to tell you all about Azul and Jade's meltdowns over not being selected.
From what you heard, even Kalim was upset he was not selected as a guard and had been more morose than usual over it. Apparently Vil had flown into a rage and was now making Pomefiore clean the dorm top to bottom for 'not being eye-catching enough' to be selected as you guard. Azul was apparently sequestering himself in an octopus pot in the aquarium of Octavinelle while Jade begrudgingly took care of the Monstro Lounge in his absence. Trey- despite not being selected- had been quick to make as many sweets and pastries as possible for the group to take with them on this trip and even suggested asking his parents to check in while you were in the Queendom.
You figured the respective dorm leaders and secondary guards were still having a meltdown after not being selected, but that was no longer any of your concern. If anything, your worry was the increased potential for poachers and the fact you were visiting solely to observe an execution. There was no love lost for the Huoshu Rat that dare incite violence against you and Grim, but it wasn't exactly a visit for fun either.
"Apologies for the wait! I'm ready to go."
Riddle called out as he walked in, several duffle bags held in either hand as he entered the room. He was dressed in his dorm uniform- minus his typical golden crown- and you vaguely wondered if his dorm uniform was similar to the common style of those in the Queendom of Roses. Perhaps he just felt more comfortable in his dorm clothes than common clothes.
"Ah, Mr. Rosehearts, there you are! We are just waiting on Mr. Hunt to join us."
"Pardonne-moi, Mademoiselle Trickster! I had a few things to take care of in Pomefiore, but I am ready to depart!"
Rook came scuttling in, several bags strapped to his back as he seemed ready for a month long trip and not just a week trip. You weren't entirely sure what it was Rook had packed up for this venture, but you figured he was doing his best to be mindful as to why you selected him as a guard. He had his bow and a quiver of arrows strapped to his back as well, letting you know he was taking you rather seriously. Some part of you wondered if Rook was late as a result of Vil having a temper tantrum.
"Good. Now that all of you are here, I can open up the portal to the Queendom. You all will be staying in a guarded wing in the Palace of Roses for the duration of this visit and I have arranged for several rooms to be shared just in the event of an emergency. They are aware of who all will be attending and the portal will put you just outside of the Palace to observe the formalities of visiting royals to the Queendom. The Queen assures me guards are surveying the area and it will be safe for all of you to be present. I have been informed there is already quite the gathering taking place around where you will be entering the Queendom and that they are eagerly awaiting your arrival. Are you ready to go, my Little Bird?"
"As ready as I can be..."
Crowley nodded before turning to Riddle next.
"Alright. Mr. Rosehearts, will you carry (Y/n) and young Grim? If anything happens I want you all to be able to return quickly, but (Y/n) should be last through so she is first to return."
Riddle was quick to lay down so you could climb onto his back, Grim held securely in your arms. Rook took Riddle's bags as well as your own and added them to his back with his own luggage. Malleus seemed less amused with you riding Riddle through the mirror, but he didn't bother to issue any complaints.
As the mirror portal opened, you felt your anxiety increase again, just wanting things to go well for once and not have a giant fallout from just trying to survive in this world. Malleus actually went first through the mirror despite his desire to enter with you instead, knowing poachers would be less likely to attack upon seeing the intimidating Dragon first. Then was Rook, who seemed to already be on guard as he entered the mirror.
It was odd to see them walk through as Floyd and Ortho went next, each moment making your heart race just a little bit faster as you tried to calm yourself. Part of the worry was the thought of what may be awaiting you beyond the looking glass and into the floral Kingdom. Part of it was what you were actually going to be attending and who all would be present when you arrived.
As Leona went next you could feel your heart picking up speed and your worry began to mount. Riddle stepped up to the mirror and you couldn't help but hold tightly to the Unicorn, looking at the silvery surface with apprehension. If you were going to survive long enough to escape this world, you would have to play by the rules of the beasts. You could only hope they would end in your favor.
It was always such a strange experience to walk through the mirrors of Night Raven College, and you always felt like you had to hold your breath every time. Even as the surface of the glass rippled around you and swallowed you whole, there was an unusual quiet that met your ears when you emerged on the other side. The silence was enough to open your eyes and try to take in your new surroundings despite your stress with the situation.
Standing on either side, with all eyes glued on you, a veritable crowd had gathered all around as they all erupted into cheers the moment you looked around at the gathering. There seemed to be monsters of almost all kinds, the more beastly Gnolls and Werewolves not represented among the many species. The sound was startling and deafening to the point you almost wanted to ask Riddle to turn around and leave, but the Unicorn gave you a gentle smile and held your hand as he trotted forward, following the other students of Night Raven College ahead of you.
Stretching out to the doors of the rather lavish looking palace was a long rolled out carpet of rose petals in all colors that almost made a rainbow like appearance. The colored petals were more soothing to you than you thought they would be and they gave you something to distract your mind from the many screaming faces around you. It was more like this was a parade or some kind of spectacle as Riddle trotted confidently ahead and towards the large double doors looming ahead of you.
The doors swung in, allowing your group entrance into what seemed to be a grand hall that had several grand staircases. Waiting at the primary staircase was a lovely equine woman with wings on her back, folded tightly into her shiny coat. She looked to be a woman with pale blonde curled hair. Atop her head sat an ornate red and gold grown that almost seemed to clash with her lovely blue eyes and faint blue feathers. Her smile was warm and she slightly bowed her head in polite greeting as she held a hand to her chest. In her other hand was a lovely golden scepter baring a red magestone in the shape of a rose atop it.
"(Y/n) (L/n) of Night Raven, Last Human of Twisted Wonderland. We welcome you and your guards to our humble halls. I trust your stay will be a pleasant one, despite the unpleasant business that needs to be attended to. I am Queen Helena Heartsqueen of The Queendom of Roses. It is truly pleasant to have a Human among our halls."
You were mostly unsure how to respond, but tried to have as much respect as the lovely Pegasus woman had shown you. Sliding from the back of the Unicorn with Grim held close, you approached the lovely Queen while ensuring to keep a certain distance from her to not commit a faux pas. Mimicking her head bow, you returned the gesture in kind and made a mental note to ask how to properly greet the presiding royals for the next country you visited.
"The pleasure is all mine, your Highness. I wish our meeting were under more favorable circumstances."
"As do I. Ser Rattigan always seemed such an honorable man of science, yet to see the evidence of his misdeeds and his crimes against the Queendom and against you, it is hard to view him as honorable any longer. I'm sure you and your guards would like to be aquatinted with your accommodations for your stay, if you would follow my son Ali-"
The Queen cut off with a sound of exasperation as she paused in the middle of her gesture. She had been gesturing to her side where there was a notably empty space only to realize that it was empty and the one she had been speaking of was nowhere in sight. You could almost feel her annoyance as the Pegasus in front of you turned from a regal and refined Queen to an exasperated mother.
"Sorry I'm late!"
Another voice cut in and you looked to your left to see a lovely young centaur quickly trotting from around the staircase, as there was likely a branching hall leading from the side of the stairway. Behind the centaur scampered a portly looking rabbit beast with several watches on their person. The first monster rushing out to stand with the Queen was unique from the other equine species you had seen. This centaur certainly looked like the Queen, but there was a noticeable difference between the young centaur and the noble Queen.
They were an equine species much like Trey and Riddle, though they seemed to be closer in build to Riddle than to Trey. Their hair was a fluffy faint blond that was even paler than the blonde curls of the Queen, bright purple eyes gleaming from beneath a prismatic horn. The horn protruded from a lovely purple star shape on their forehead, that same prismatic color clear in the stretched out wings that sat on the equine shoulders of their lower half. It almost looked like the tail of the beast and their ears had been surrounded in feathers much like the wings on their back.
A small recollection of what your world called these mixed monsters flashed through your head and you vaguely wondered if this world called them the same thing. Looking between Helena and Riddle, perhaps Alicorns were more common than you thought.
"Alistair, you were supposed to be here on time. Did Lapinette not tell you what time you were expected to arrive?"
"He did! I just got distracted with other things."
"What other things?"
A soft squeaking sound came from somewhere behind the still oddly stretched wings of the Alicorn as a certain look took over their face. The Alicorn- Alistair, according to the Queen- refused to meet Queen Helena's gaze as if they were trying to hide something. Behind their wings their feathers rustled and something seemed to be moving.
"Alistair."
"..."
"Alistair Heartsqueen, you hand those hedgehogs over to Lapinette this instant."
"But, Ma, I just wanted to have a quick game-"
"No excuses. At least try to pull yourself together for our guest."
This seemed to catch the Alicorn's attention as they quickly turned to look at you, their wings dropping in surprise as several hedgehogs tried to scamper away only to be caught by the Rabbit monster. If the Queen's words were anything to go off of, this was her son, making this unusually beautiful and odd Alicorn the prince of The Queendom of Roses. He seemed more stunned by you than anything as a bright pink dusted over his cheeks and the feathers on his wings fluffed out intensely.
"Our guest..?"
"Yes, our guest (Y/n) and her guards. It would behoove you to at least be respectful to her."
The Alicorn was quick to rush forward, almost tripping on his long legs as he hastily stood in front of you, resting a hand over his heart and bowing deeply. It almost looked like he had been out wrestling in the dirt with those hedgehogs given the faint dusty brown to his white clothes. He seemed nervous despite his deep bow to you and how his bright purple eyes seemed to shine in excitement.
"As prince of Roses, it is my personal pleasure to welcome you to the Palace of Roses. Pleased to meet you face to face, (Y/n). The name's Alistair, but you can call me Ali if you like-"
A sudden sound of the Queen lightly clearing her throat made Alistair straighten up, folding in his wings and extending an arm to you.
"Ah, if I may, I'll show you to where you and your guards will be staying."
Not wanting to commit a social error, you took the arm of the Alicorn and let him lead you away into the inner workings of the Palace. Heading up the grand staircase opposite where Alistair came, he quickly led you and the others to your rooms. The Alicorn was gorgeous in so many ways, his feathers catching the light and leaving rainbow colors on the walls as he seemed to glow in the warm rays of the sun.
Part of you wanted to just continue to stare at him as he led you and the others to the rooms. As he drew to a halt he turned to smile at you, his purple eyes glimmering in the light and his almost sweet behavior as his wings flared out.
"I'm so happy to finally get to meet you! I was kind of hoping we could spend some time in the gardens for a game of croquet, but you saw what happened with the hedgehogs. Anyway, I'll let you and yours get settled first, you'll definitely be needing a nap if Leona is with you."
"Oh, go sit on a cactus, Herbivore!"
Despite Leona's words, he had a warm smile on his face as he clasped hands with the Alicorn who laughed in response to the clipped words. It surprised you to see the two amicably talking and Grim let out a snort, pawing your face for your attention. As you looked down at the kit he was frowning and you gently pet his head to calm him. He was likely quite uncomfortable given the uproar the crowd had caused and you chuckled gently, kissing his forehead.
"Oh, is that the Hellcat that has everyone in RSA all stirred up? Neige was right, he's adorable!"
You looked up to see Alistair was now smiling down at Grim who was immediately enamored with the little wing-like appendages on the sides of Alistair's face. The feline's whiskers began to twitch as Alistair chuckled, making the small wings flutter which only fueled Grim's interests. He began to chatter gently as his whiskers twitched wildly.
"(Y/n), we should settle in our rooms first before we discuss where in the Queendom you would like to visit before the Execution."
Malleus interjected, breaking Grim's concentration on the Alicorn and you nodded, agreeing with the Dragon.
"Okay. We can continue this later."
Alistair looked somewhat downcast at your quick agreement with the Dragon, but he returned to happy rather quickly with a nod. His fluffy hair bouncing slightly with his movement.
"I'll see you soon, (Y/n)."
The prince bowed his head and trotted off, leaving you to check your accommodations with your chosen guards. The rooms themselves were lavish and clearly designed for comfort. Each room was large and flush with expensive looking overstuffed furniture. The rooms had only one bed, so you figured you would each be pairing up just in case and sharing beds with those paired together.
Naturally, all of your guards wanted to pair up with you and were quick to try and claim the large bed in the room you settled on. The only two who weren't arguing were Grim and Ortho.
"-I am the obvious best choice for guarding Mousey!"
"Non! Clearly I- the hunter and sharpest eyed of us- would be the best choice."
You looked between the five men who growled and argued before looking at Ortho, who had been keenly scanning the room for anything out of the ordinary.
"Hey guys?"
"Naw, Shrimpy chose me out of all those students because I am strong. I can guard her best!"
"Guys!"
They all quieted and snapped their attention over to you as you sighed in exasperation. Their arguing was getting them nowhere and you didn't want this entire trip to be filled with the men snapping back and forth. There was one easy way to solve the problem at hand.
"Grim, Ortho, and I will be staying in this room. You all can fight over the other rooms."
"But, Mousey-"
"No complaints! We are here for a specific reason, not to fight over accommodations. If you all really want, I can be convinced to let one of you share the bed with Ortho, Grim, and I. For now though, I am sharing with those two."
The males all grumbled soft complaints but refused to argue with you further on the matter. At least Malleus didn't seem particularly upset, though he was quick to lay claim to the room directly next to yours. Rook was first to agree to pair up with Malleus, setting your bags down first before carrying his things into the other room.
"Mama?"
"Yes, Grim?"
"I like Clouds."
"Clouds?"
"The pointy winged horse guy! His hair looks like clouds."
"Well, I'm glad you like prince Alistair."
"Do you think we can get some of his feathers to keep?"
As you turned to set the little feline down and continue the conversation, you missed the many frowns and silent exchanges between your guards. Only Leona seemed content with the prince, having seen the prince many times before and forming somewhat of a loose friendship with him. Riddle could feel his own anger at the ditzy rule-less Alicorn beginning to rise even with the short interaction that they had.
He just needed to make sure to keep himself and his temper under control, for his own sake as much as yours.
Mermen au with mer TF141 and researcher reader trying to learn about their. . .biology :Dd Or them trying to bring progressively bigger fish trying to woo and then Ghost ends up bringing you a fucking orca or some shit,
...I had to look up the reproductive cycle of several marine animals for this I hope you are happy.
Deductive Reasoning
Words: 1.3k
CW: ...light fish porn (?)
It was just fascinating. It would have been dreadfully difficult to not talk about this every chance you got and thus break your NDA if not for the fact that you never left this secure little island base. You were permitted to, but why would you want to? You were speaking with living, breathing mermen almost everyday.
4 of them, although they had alluded to their being more out there. These 4 were a... well that was the question wasn't it? Only one shark did not make a shiver, only one seal did not make a herd, only one walrus did not make a rookery and only one mandarinfish did not make a shoal. Was there a collective term for mermen? You were told you were now the leading researcher in the world for this new species, so perhaps that meant you got to decide.
Or maybe you'd just ask. They spoke to you sometimes, or at least made noises. They seemed to understand each other at least which was intriguing on its own.
It had been Soap you had met first. You had been basically abducted and hurried to this island facility where they had captured a real life merman. You were enamoured immediately by the furious thing in the tank. Half seal, harbour seal you thought. Top half looked all but human (skin must be different to allow for underwater living and ah, yes, you could see gills), hair in a mohawk (which suggested someone had cut it to look like that, who? Was it a ritual? Did they have community? Was it an emulation of human culture? Perhaps some mating strategy?), eyes somewhere between human and seal (his physicality was a similar story, he was built strong and thick, a healthy layer of fat over hard muscle).
You perhaps felt a little bashful looking back. You had been so wildly excited, asking a thousand questions and going into chaotic science mode that it took you a whole 16 hours of straight observations and notes to realise there was a creature of higher intelligence being held captive in a tank. You did, of course, apologise profusely. He clearly did not understand what you were saying, but the emotion was human enough. Bemusement.
Soap had come about because he was slippery. Well, actually he wasn't, but the story was that he was slippery. Because if the military knew you had actually been helping him escape you were probably going to get disappeared. It was lucky the facility at that time wasn't as high security, you had gotten away with it.
You had met Gaz right there on the coast when Soap went slicing through the water. You thought looking back that Price and Ghost had probably been there, just out of sight. They had come for him. Gaz was a magnificent thing. His tail was the same pattern as a madarinfish, bright orange with gorgeous blue markings. You had shown him a tin of irn-bru once with a grin and learned then that Soap could laugh. He had come right up to you and after some form of exchange with Soap had been playful, showing off his tail and holding his hand out to you. You had been existing on caffeine and noodles so hardly your fault you took it, getting dragged into the water.
Oh how thrilling an education you received in the courting practices of Dragonets! He had made quite a show of displaying his fins, including a gorgeous dorsal fin on his human looking spine. You knew you simply must see them again if only to study why Gaz's eyes were more human while Soap's leant towards seal like. He was certainly the most expressive of them. His name had only come about because you had tried every other one and he made his disdain for them very clear. By the time the merman had been rubbing what you would call his ventral fins against you, Soap had grabbed you and soundly deposited you back on shore. Just in time too for the soldiers to find you because the doctor later told you that you were in the early stages of hypothermia. Totally worth it actually.
You talked the powers that be into allowing your pet projects to free roam, after all they kept coming back to see you. Over the course of a year the facility was upgraded and a channel added from the sea to an indoor pool that would allow for better study. Soap and Gaz didn't run on a schedule exactly, but they seemed content to swim in every so often and let you poke and prod. Fascinating that they should both be half human but their other half was so entirely different. Soap was half mammal, retractable penis something he was very proud to show off anytime he was in the observation pool. Gaz was half dragonet, and while you tried to put a clutch of eggs in the pool to see if he could fertilise them he had only raised an eyebrow at you and tried once again to pull you in. Tough luck, you had learned your lesson about going into the water with them when you had met Ghost.
It had been the middle of the night when he swam into the pool. Silent, you hadn't heard him (that's where that name had come from in the end). So unsuspecting were you that you were too near the edge and his hand had snaked around your ankle, one sharp pull dragging you in after you fell to the ground (hardly avoiding a broken nose). It wasn't only his tail that was shark, he had a sharp set of teeth that he sank into the meat of your shoulder without much ceremony. His claspers had been strong as hell holding you there, the only thing likely saving you his frustration at your clothes. He must not have understood the concept very well because he released you and dove, pawing at your trousers to try and figure them out. It was an endless source of fascination for him anytime he visited after. He would lean his arms on the pool edge and just stare at your legs, tracing the outline of your body with his sharp eyes. It only seemed fair to let him look since you spent an inordinate amount of time staring at him. He was sleek and muscular, every inch an apex predator in his prime.
It was a contrast to who you would say was the leader of their group. The merman who had saved you from Ghost that first time you met him, who had ripped him away from you when his teeth had sunk into the meat of your thigh through your trousers. Price had hauled you out of the water with ease. He was part Walrus, huge and soft with a layer of blubber similar to Soap's that hid considerable strength. Of all of them his animal half was most pronounced, his canines elongated into tusks and his hair thick and whisker-like around them.
As a scientist you could not possibly play favourites. Price was absolutely your favourite. He would be still and patient with you when you were working with him. He would gently run his fingers over whatever parts of you were in reach. When you babbled excitedly he seemed to listen as best he could.
If you had taken more than a moment to really look into it, you might have realised you were not the only creature conducting research. If you had used some deductive reasoning, you probably could have anticipated that fateful day you were dragged into the sea, never to be seen by the human military again.
I reread your Azul princess au fanfic, the thing that first introduced me to your blog and omg....OTL....All I can think about now is cruel cecaelia Azul... Truly you introduced peak.
I like to imagine the idea in a more modern setting, working as a marine biologist or something and being assigned the strange octo merman to take care of and study as he slowly opens up to you . Eventually the intrinsic cruelty of the deep sea creature leading to him dragging you into the frigid tank water with him, taking advantage of you. I LOVE CRUEL CECAELIA AZUL !!!!! ╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯
Peak tako is when he's a pathetic cecaelia who just wants to love you without any barrier, but you don't understand him or you're scared. >_< so he just has to take you by force. </3 I love the idea of Azul in captivity,,, just the thought of bitter octopus, who hates the humans who have trapped him here and poke and prod at all of his sensitive areas, slowly warming up to one particular human. Gradually befriending you, learning to trust you, feeling comfortable around you to the point where he seeks you out himself, sweetly curling a tentacle around your ankle or wrist in greeting......
And then the way that touch turns into something sinister when he's yanking you into the tank so forcefully. Suddenly he's not your sweet, gentle Azul whose touch was a comfort and a curiosity. Now he's a reminder that, as many human characteristics and behaviors he might have picked up from observation, he's still a creature from the deep with unparalleled strength. Aaaaa maybe his handling of you is so hasty and rough that he squeezes your leg too much and it breaks the bone, and the only thing holding it together is your tight wetsuit...... how horrifying. orz all while he's so tunnel-visioned, so focused on tearing at your suit to get to the space between your legs.
By his logic, you accepted all of his courtship gestures without even knowing it. Misunderstandings that lead to something dubious. ;;;
Mer AU
You climbed onto a large pile of rocks that extended from the shore to where the sea was sinking deeper and deeper.
The waves were larger than normal that day, but nothing dangerous enough to clear the beach.
You admired the view from the pile of rocks where you were perched, your small head taking in the vast, endless sea that stretched to other parts.
You knelt down, placing your tiny hands on your knees for support to avoid falling flat.
You noticed a small group of fish swimming together, neither rushing ahead nor straying too far from one another.
You continued to watch the curious fish reflected in the crystal-clear sea, some larger and others smaller than the rest.
A small blue blur caught your attention due to its speed as it passed by.
You swore you saw a tail similar to a shark's, but much smaller.
You crouched down further until you were crawling on the edge of the rocks with great care, holding onto the edge to avoid falling.
You searched the sea for that shark-like tail until a splash soaked your face, causing you to frown in surprise at the sudden wetness.
As you wiped the water off with your arms, you heard some high-pitched laughter nearby.
Curious about the sudden laughter, you finished drying yourself as best as you could and saw a kind of fish-human in the sea.
"You almost got completely soaked!" the child commented with laughter, chuckling heartily while mockingly holding his cheeks.
Instead of getting angry or responding rudely to his joke, you gazed at him with curiosity and wonder.
Amid his laughter, you noticed his mouth was filled with sharp teeth and a dark blue tongue that was barely noticeable.
You tilted your head to one side and asked, "What's your name, kid?" If you could, you would get closer, but unfortunately, you might fall and get completely soaked this time.
The fish-human looked at you, slowly stopping his laughter, gazing at you in the same way you had looked at him.
A brighter glint appeared in his eyes as he rested his three hands on his torso.
"I’m Sebastian! And I’m a merman" he said with total pride, placing his left hand on his chest.
You opened your mouth in astonishment, observing his physique in greater detail this time.
You noticed that his skin was a pale blue tone, with a long tail that had a small caudal fin at the end.
He had three arms, and the third one seemed smaller than the other two.
His eyes were completely bright blue, his wavy black hair cascading down both sides of his face like a waterfall.
Lastly, if you squinted your eyes just right, you could see gills on either side of his neck and beneath his torso.
While you carefully studied Sebastian's figure, he was doing the same with you.
He observed how your features were very different from his, noting that you had no scales or fins.
"And what’s your name, kid?" he repeated your words, but you didn’t pay it much attention.
You told him your name with a smile.
Sebastian repeated your name, finding it amusing how it sounded.
You both stared at each other's different features, but neither of you said anything negative or hurtful about those significant differences; you were filled with innocent curiosity, unaware that each other’s species was completely unknown to the other.
Mermaid Muichiro and Pirate Reader AU. 🧍
————————————————————————
Tumblr media
Mermaid!Muichiro x Pirate!Reader
warnings: mentions of drowning, pet names
————————————————————————
You and your crew had set sail in the early morning. The weather seemed like it would be clear skies all day long, which was perfect for your long voyage. You and your crew were looking for an island that had been rumored to have tons of gold and other treasures scattered all around it. It was safe to say you and your crew were excited, which is why you set out so early so you could be the first ones.
Captain Kagaya had ordered you to go below deck and clean the extra weapons just in case you guys had to fight. You did as you were told, and climbed down the ladder into the bottom deck. You quickly found the spare weapons and wasted no time to start cleaning them. After around 2 hours, you were nearing the end when it seemed to get darker. You didn’t think much at first bc it was usually dark where you were, but outside seems darker. You looked out and saw these huge dark clouds heading the ship’s way. As you were looking, something caught your eye. It looked like two glowing eyes staring at you.
You didn’t recall anything in the ocean that had glowing eyes, but something about them entranced you. Suddenly, you hear shinobu call for you. “Y/n! Get up here now, we need your help!” You quickly put away the rest of the weapons and climbed back up the ladder to be met with pouring rain. The winds were horrendous, tilting the ship every which way. You felt like you were going to be sick, but you had a job to do. You had to reposition the sails as they were making the ship go everywhere except the direction it was supposed to go.
Suddenly, the post that the sails were attached to had been struck by lightning, somehow the lightning has traveled through far enough you felt small sparks from it which made you fall back a little. You were now close to the edge of the boat. It was hard to stand up, the boat was moving way more now. Suddenly, a big gust of wind tilted the ship making the side you were on almost hit the water. Unfortunately, it caused you to fall off. Your screams could be heard until you hit the water. The last thing you remembered seeing before you went under, was some of your crew mates looking down at you.
It felt like you were drowning. You couldn’t breathe. You were in and out of consciousness. The last thing you really remember seeing, was a teal colored tail, and your own legs. You remember feeling like someone had pulled you into a tight hug.
When you awoke, it was still storming, but not nearly as bad as it was. You were on the shore of some island now. You looked over and saw figure beside you, half of its body underwater. When your eyes focused, you saw it was a boy that was naked, or so you thought. You sat up slightly, feeling a little lightheaded, you rubbed your head. “W-who are you?” You looked at the boy as he looked at you, and you couldn’t help but see those glowing eyes again. “I’m Muichiro.” You stared at him some more before it finally clicked.
“Hey, you’re what I saw in the water before I got thrown off the ship.” He simply nodded at your observation. “Why were you in the water anyways? Don’t you also have a ship?” He shook his head. “No, because I’m a merman.” You looked at him with wide eyes. “A-a what?!” Just then, he lifted his tail out of the water and repeated himself. “I’m a merman.” You looked at him stunned. “B-but mermaids or anything like that aren’t real.” “Oh but we are.” You couldn’t wrap your head around the fact you were seeing a real life mermaid. This couldn’t be true.
“But why did you save me?” He gave you a sly smile as he crept towards you. He crept towards you and cupped your face with one hand. “Sweetheart, I created that storm, I made you fall off that ship so I could rescue you.” You looked at him with shock and fury. “You what?! Why?!” He chuckled at you as he crept closer. “I wanted you all to myself. Once I saw you on that ship, I knew you had to be mine.” The hand that was on your face, had now grabbed both of your wrists, trapping you. He continued to creep closer towards you. “H-hey! What are you d-doing?!” “Marking you as mine.” He replied in a dark voice. And then, he leaned in and tried to kiss you.
Suddenly you woke up. You shot up in bed and looked around, breathing heavily. You realized you were in your bed in the cabin part of the ship. You tried to get up, but your head hurt. Suddenly Aoi came down to check up on you. When she saw you trying to get up, she rushed towards you. “Y/n, please don’t get up, you suffered a terrible hit to your head during the storm. You need rest.” You looked at her with terror in your eyes. “B-but what about Muichiro?!” She looked at you puzzled. “Who?” You looked down at the ground. So it was just a dream..? You shook your head. “Nevermind, um can I get some alone time?” She nodded at you before she left.
When she did, you got up despite what she told you, and went to the window. You stared out the small window, looking at the clear sky. Then you looked down at the water, just then, those two glowing teal eyes looked at you, winking. Was it really a dream or not?
Merman x Siren au
Hualian - (part XII)
Tumblr media
First part: PART I
Previous part: PART XI
Sorry, it took me ages to complete this chapter 👹 But it's here! We're finally going to embrace some more action instead of just enjoying domestic hualian after this haha
***
Xie Lian is a little dumbfounded when the siren announces they've reached their 'training ground' for teaching him how to hunt. That is because San Lang has led him into the completely open ocean. Xie Lian nearly doesn't see the bottom, not to mention anything else beside the light from the surface.
No potential prey in sight.
He cannot help but feel uncomfortable. He usually avoids being in the open more than getting washed up to the shore. With his white tail and untrained senses he makes a perfect prey for any creature slightly bigger or even smaller than him.
'San Lang is here with me, though,' he tells himself, trying to not lose his mind. 'If something was to attack us, he would know. There's nothing to worry about.'
The siren finally stops in one place. He turns gracefully and starts floating right before Xie Lian.
"Close your eyes," he instructs the merman, but that makes Xie Lian even more uneasy.
How is he supposed to close his eyes when the danger can come from every direction at any moment?
Seeing the merman's hesitance, San Lang gets a little closer and reaches out to stroke the other's cheek gently.
"Relax," he clicks calmly. "I won't let anything happen to you under my guidance. Don't be afraid."
The merman nods slowly and then, when the siren withdraws his hand, Xie Lian finally builds up the courage to shut his eyelids.
At first he still feels the siren's presence, but then that feeling suddenly disappears, as if San Lang wasn't even here in the first place.
"San Lang?!" Xie Lian clicks, distressed, but still obediently keeps his eyes closed. The siren... wouldn't just leave him like that, would he?
"Don't fret, little merman."
Xie Lian's heart skips a beat when he hears the siren's voice right behind him, talking into his left ear. It's honestly terrifying - how San Lang is able to move without anyone noticing.
"You didn't feel me at all, did you?" San Lang asks, this time his voice coming from the other side.
Xie Lian shakes his head.
"N-no, I still... can't feel you," he clicks, trying to focus on spotting the siren without his eyesight, but his effort doesn't pay off.
"This is what you need to learn, before anything else, to be a good hunter. The prey won't try to look around to find you if they can't sense you approaching." San Lang brushes his fingers on the merman's waist playfully, forcing a surprised squeak out of Xie Lian. "You can open your eyes now, little merman."
Xie Lian lifts his eyelids to come face to face with the siren again. The creature has a smug smile on his lips, but even seeing him just in front of himself, Xie Lian cannot feel him.
"But... I still don't understand how you do it. I don't think I can—"
"Shush," the siren silences him. "I haven't explained anything yet, have I? It's only fair you don't understand, you need to be more patient."
"Right," Xie Lian nods, feeling the embarrassment creeping under his skin. "Sorry."
"No need to apologize," the siren swims a little bit away from Xie Lian, graceful as ever, as if he really was trying to show off his crimson tail. "My secret lies in my movement."
Xie Lian observes the siren, but can't really tell any difference in his movements from any other underwater creature. Apart from the unexplainable magnificence the siren holds.
'What am I even thinking?' Xie Lian catches his mind drifting away from the topic as he stares at San Lang, so he blinks a few times to right himself. It goes without a doubt that the siren is admirable, but that's not what he should be focusing on!
"As you are perfectly aware of, water always moves. All you need to do to go with the flow is stay still. But if you want to stop sinking or float, you have to move on your own. The key is to never go against the water - I will teach you how to move as you wish without disturbing the water's flow. If your prey is sure there's only water around it, it won't get alert. That's my secret."
"Oh," Xie Lian clicks dumbfounded. He's never thought about it. "It... It does make sense."
San Lang chuckles, approaching the merman once again.
"I know. It takes a while to master though. You need to learn how to feel any change in the water movements first. If you can't follow it at any given time, anything else I could teach you is going to be useless."
Xie Lian nods, eager to learn.
"I will hold you at first and guide your movements to give you the right idea of what we're aiming for. Then you will try on your own. Take it easy, we have plenty of time today, don't we?"
With those words, the first lesson officially begins. Xie Lian never thought it would take him so long to understand the water's movements, especially that he lived his whole life underwater. He didn't really pay attention to it before, so trying to feel something you've ignored for so many years was quite a difficult task. The big hands and cold, crimson tail enveloping him at first could be put to blame a little too - instead of helping him, even with the siren's best intentions, Xie Lian couldn't focus on anything else than the other's touch. Only when San Lang let him try on his own, he finally manages to make a few correct movements.
By the time he can last in tact with water for more than a brief moment, the sun is already approaching the horizon. Xie Lian hasn't even noticed - it's his growling stomach that reminds them both how much time has passed.
"I suggest we stop here for now," the siren chimes in softly, smiling when Xie Lian opens his eyes wide, getting teared out of his focused state. "I should hunt us some dinner. You can follow me if you want. We will eat then and there."
"Oh... Won't I disturb?" Xie Lian asks, concerned. He's not doubting the siren's skill, but he knows very well that no-one has ever wanted him approximately near hunting waters.
"Not at all. I'm planning to get us some crabs today. Is this up to your liking?"
"Yes!" Xie Lian exclaims happily, but he quickly rights himself. "I mean... I really like crab meat. I even tried to make a crab trap once with some human materials. It worked just fine, but I had a hard time hunting even the trapped prey. They're extremely aggressive when caught."
San Lang snorts, probably picturing the merman trying to kill a crab with his delicate hands armed with human tools. He takes a look at Xie Lian hands again and points with his claw to one small scar on the merman's palm, above the thumb.
"Is this the vicious crab's doing?" San Lang asks, making the merman cover his hand with the other.
"Yeah... I was lucky it didn't tear my fins," the merman pouts, blushing.
"I will make sure no crab hurts you ever again," the siren promises, making Xie Lian feel strangely warm inside.
He cannot deny that the thought of someone caring for him to this extent feels quite nice.
They continue as planned - San Lang leads the way to waters rich in crabs and presents Xie Lian the art of his hunt. The merman watches him in awe from afar, not even realising that the siren probably flexes his skills a little bit too much for the needs of crab hunting.
Before the siren hands Xie Lian some of the crabs, he makes sure they're stripped of their claws and there's direct access to the meat, so that the merman doesn't have to struggle with opening the prey and can just focus on eating right away.
Xie Lian devours the meal with a happy smile spread on his face. The crabs are one of his all time favourite snacks, so he doesn't even notice that the siren has been staring at him this whole time after eating his own, smaller portion. Only after a few long moments the merman lifts his gaze from the meat and makes eye contact with San Lang.
"Do you not like the crabs?" Xie Lian asks, concerned.
"No, I do. I'm full already. I'm happy to see you're enjoying what I've provided, that's all."
The siren smirks gently when Xie Lian instantly grows a little pink in the cheeks. After that the merman doesn't take long to finish his meal. To be honest, he doesn't remember the last time he's been so full after dinner.
"They were delicious, thank you so much for hunting them down for me," the merman says, still smiling at the other creature, even though he's probably still blushing.
"My pleasure, little merman," San Lang replies in a soft tone.
Xie Lian is about to ask what they're going to do until dawn, but then suddenly the siren's expression drastically changes.
Alert and anger. That's what Xie Lian sees on the other's face.
"What's going on?" The merman asks, automatically swimming a little bit closer to San Lang. Probably because he's already used to this meaning he's safer the closer they are.
San Lang lifts his head and squints, looking at the surface. When Xie Lian follows his gaze, there's nothing in sight, at least in his opinion. However, he trusts that the siren has sensed an intruder of some sort and is trying to locate them.
The siren scoffs, unamused. He turns around and is about to take off, when Xie Lian grabs his arm, almost cutting his own fingers on the sharp spikes. San Lang halts immediately, looking back at the concerned merman.
"It's nothing worth mentioning. I will be back in a few minutes when I deal with this. Please, stay here," he says, though it doesn't appease the merman.
"Wait! What if you get hurt?" The merman asks in return. "Let me go with you, please. I will stay behind, but I might be able to help if... I know you're capable of handling things like this, you probably do all the time, but I just..."
Xie Lian shuts his mouth, realizing how disrespectful he might have appeared just now. The siren has been keeping this territory in his hands for years. He has probably encountered countless intruders and got rid of every single one of them. The merman just questioned his abilities yet again today and he feels like a horrible guest.
"It's okay. I appreciate your concern," the siren speaks up, smiling gently. "You can come with me, but if I tell you to hide, you're going to hide. Understood?"
Xie Lian nods eagerly, smiling back.
After the siren playfully pats Xie Lian's head, they take off in the direction San Lang heard the noise come from. They swim for a longer while before Xie Lian notices a small shadow on the surface of the ocean.
It's a human boat.
PLEASE QUEEN, I need answers, in your post talking about some wip's that you were thinking about, I saw "shark", I hope I'm not hallucinating, but please, can you tell me a little about it??🏃🏃🏃
Omg yes! I'm so happy you asked about this one! The shark au is something me and @lilliumteaandbeez came up with. We have a ton of lore we came up with together, though I don't have much written for it. I believe I wrote this in February, and it isn't much but I'll share what I have!
More about Sharktaro though, he is also a siren! So, for the people that have been asking me for a siren au, this is the start of it.*・♡
Your motion sensored camera got activated last night.
That’s why you find yourself trudging through a light rain shower, stepping through heaps of wet sand and over slippery rocks.
The camera had been set up in an alcove seated on the beach. A small cave sits on the edge of the ocean, with a deep pool of water seated in the middle of it. But deeper into the cave, the water becomes more shallow, and there is a rocky ledge circling the edge of the water, perfect for you to set up your camera to observe the unusual alcove.
It was for research of course. As a marine biologist you are always searching for unique phenomena. With this particular experiment, you were hoping to catch seals using this alcove as a shelter when hiding from circling sharks. But instead you were notified in the middle of the night by a strange photo being captured.
You couldn’t quite make out what it was. It was blurry and dark. The creature looked long like a seal but it almost appeared as though it had sharp claws. Having no idea what it could be, you are filled with anxiety and curiosity as you arrive at the cave.
Sounds of distant thunder echo in the distance.
You turn the corner and step into the darkness. The approaching storm blocking any sunlight that may have illuminated your path.
Flickering on your flashlight, you point it towards the shallow end of the cave.
Before you lies a humanoid figure. Laying on its side, back facing towards you.
The bottom half of its body resembles a shark. A long blue-green tail littered with dark spots. The spots cover his entire body, even the upper half which resembles a human man. The creature has a large fin on its back and pointed ears. Its body looks emaciated, ribs moving with each shallow breath that he takes. And a mess of black and green hair sits atop his head.
The water surrounding his body is bloody, and his tail seems to have gotten tangled in a net.
“Oh my god…” you gasp under your breath. The small sound is enough to startle the creature, quickly turning around, staring right at you.
His eyes glow yellow, slit pupils dilate from the bright light. He opens his mouth to show rows of dagger sharp teeth.
A high pitched, rattling screech echos from his mouth. Hissing at you with every ounce of energy he has left, you know this is a warning. But you can’t stop yourself from walking closer to him, you want to help him. It’s in your nature to help and rehabilitate injured marine life, and a mythical merman is no exception.
As you get closer he starts to panic. Flailing his tail, showing his teeth, hissing loudly. He tries to get away but he is too tangled up. It doesn’t take long before more blood spills out of him, and he can’t muster enough energy to continue.
His eyes get heavy and his breathing becomes more shallow but his hissing persists as you stand a few feet in front of him.
“I-It’s ok,” you mutter, taking a few steps closer to him, “I’m going to try to help you.”
Throwing your backpack to the ground, you take a seat in front of him, rummaging through your bag to find any supplies that may be able to help this poor creature. You always make sure to come prepared, because out in the field accidents happen all of the time. So luckily you have an emergency medkit. It’s meant for humans but you are sure it will do the trick for the time being.
When you reach out to him he snaps at you, almost biting your arm.
“Hey! I’m trying to help you! I know you are scared, but I promise I won’t hurt you.”
You can see the hurt and fear in his eyes when he looks at you. He has no idea that you are trying to help him. But the blood spilling from his wounds is too much and he loses the ability to care. He knows that he will die soon, so he stops fighting you.
The largest wound is on his tail, near his hip. It’s a deep laceration of some kind.
Cutting part of the net, to give you enough room to tend to his wound. You decide that stopping the bleeding is more important, and you will work on untangling him afterwards.
There is no time to waste so you hurry and disinfect the area and prep your needle. With trembling hands you begin to suture the large wound, resulting in a low, painful whimper coming from him.
“I know it hurts, but I have to do this or you will bleed out,” you console him but don’t stop stitching him up.
The skin on his tail is thick and tough, taking a lot of effort to get the needle to go through. But after lots of struggling, you manage to get the wound sutured. Taking some gauze and holding it to the wound to soak up some of the blood.
Scanning over the rest of his body, he has lots of smaller lacerations. They look like claw marks. But you can’t think of any sea creature that would have claws like that…
Once the bleeding mostly stops on the larger wound, you go to care for the other wounds. Disinfecting, covering with bandages, and suturing a few that are particularly deep. You run out of gauze pretty quickly, as he has many wounds and the moisture of his skin combined with the humidity in the air quickly dampens them.
Steve hadn’t been sure what memories he’d get out of a year backpacking around Europe post-graduation, but meeting an honest-to-god mermaid - merman - merperson - whatever! - hadn’t been one of them.
It had started off simply enough. Having crossed from Western Europe (northern Italy) to the Eastern part (Slovenia), he’d wended his way through Hungary, into southern Slovakia and made it into Sokovia just at the start of May. Like other places he’d seen in his journeys, the country was one of dichotomy - modern, bustling cities and then small rural villages that felt like something out of a fairy tale. It was while he was staying in one of these small villages that the strangest thing happened.
He’d gotten into the habit of travelling to a scenic spot during the day to try and capture the beauty of the landscapes before returning to the village and sketching the people he saw as he ate at one of the eateries.
On this particular morning, having had a hearty if basic breakfast at his lodgings, he’d set out on foot towards a large lake just outside the village. It was nestled at the base of the Carpathians, which rose out of the ground as if to challenge the sky, and was surrounded by swathes of wildflowers. He knew he had to capture it as best he could - his friends back in New York would never believe that such a place was real.
Steve set up his travel easel on a large rock, and placing in his ear buds, he started to make his preliminary sketches, making sure the proportions were right. It must have only been fifteen minutes later that he had the feeling he was being watched. With a frown he lifted his head and looked around, but there was no one to be seen, and nothing other than a few wild sheep and the movement of the lake water as fish made their way around.
Putting it down to his active imagination, he returned to his pencils, but the feeling didn’t go away. However, everytime he looked up, all was the same - a few sheep and circular ripples caused by the fish. Although, he thought, there must be some big fish in there to cause ripples that size. Maybe, if he set up his phone just right, he might be able to catch one of them on film if it came to the surface again? He propped it up on the edge of the easel, with the camera lens pointing at the lake, and he pressed record.
The next time he felt he was being observed, instead of lifting his head, he just flicked his eyes towards his camera… and jumped back, tripping over his feet. Looking up at the lake all he saw was a large, red tail making its way back under the water. Picking up his phone he stopped the recording and then rewound it.
A head, distinctly human looking, appeared from the water with long dark brown - possibly black hair - laying in wet tangles on its pale shoulders. It looked like a man, with ice blue eyes, sharp cheekbones and plump lips, but there was something uncanny about him. He could tell the moment he fell back, because not only was the sound of his shout audible on the recording, an expression akin to panic crossed the merman’s face and he dove back under the water, flicking up that tail that Steve had then seen. If he hadn’t had it recorded, he’d have thought he was dreaming. He walked carefully up to the edge of the water and stared down into it, yet saw nothing but the bubbles of small fish.
Trying to make sense of it all, he decided to break for lunch. Sitting down on a rock at the water’s edge, Steve pulled out a sandwich of local sliced ham and cheese and some fresh strawberries, and began to eat. He tried to keep half an eye on the water, but every time he thought he saw the water swirling as though something big was coming to the surface, the movement of his head seemed to scare the creature - man? - away again.
Having satisfied his immediate hunger, Steve got up to return to his easel. Before he did though, he left the last part of his sandwich and a few strawberries on the rock he’d used as a seat. This time when he started drawing, he decided not to put his ear buds back in, but turned his phone speaker up, so that he could still hear the music and hum along. He was notified of the merman’s return by the sound of a wet splat as a half eaten strawberry impacted against the back of his sketchbook.
Peering around his easel towards where he’d left the offering of food, Steve saw that the sandwich had been partially eaten and then deconstructed and discarded apart from the ham and all of the strawberries, except the one that had become a missile, left untouched.
He chuckled to himself. “Not a fan of cheese or fruit I see. Not totally surprising. I doubt there’s much of that in the bottom of the lake, or the sea, or wherever you’re from.” It was hard to concentrate on his drawing after that, despite his best efforts.
The hours passed and he tried not to look up every time he felt himself being observed, difficult as it was. However, it did seem as though his audience was getting more used to his presence, because when Steve did redirect his gaze at one point, he was happy to see that the top of the merman’s head was still poking out of the lake, his eyes and hair visible, at least for a moment before it ducked back under the blue waters.
Finishing off the drawing he’d been doing, Steve decided to reposition himself. He went back to the rock on the edge of the lake and sat down with his sketch pad in hand. His hands flew over the paper as he worked from memory, trying to recall the features he’d seen. He felt the presence close to him, but kept his gaze on his paper until he’d finished. Then, slowly, he turned and gasped as he saw that the merman had pulled himself up onto the shore, looking over Steve’s shoulder at the sketch of himself.
His tail glistened in the afternoon sun and water ran off his pale, muscular body in fat rivulets. There was an obvious wave to his hair, wet as it was, and when the merman tossed his head to the side, Steve could see the gills on the side of his neck. Speckles of water flicked onto Steve’s sketchbook and the merman reached out with one finger to touch one of the wet spots, obviously intrigued by the difference between wet and dry. Steve let out a soft chuckle and the creature reared back slightly, looking at him with wide eyes.
Steve allowed himself to smile, not a difficult feat, hoping that the merman would accept the gesture as one of friendship. What he wasn’t expecting was for the merman to grin back, displaying a mouth full of sharp teeth. Perfect for ripping through fish, he thought.
He raised his hand to his chest. “I’m Steve,” he said. The merman blinked at him. He’s unlikely to speak English, you idiot. He tried again, halting Sokovian. “Moje meno je Štefan.” If the merman spoke any human language it was likely to be one from this region of the world. The merman ran his tongue over his pointed teeth. “Jakov,” he replied. “Moje meno je Jakov.”
“Jakov,” Steve repeated, translating in his head. “Jakov a Štefan. James and Steve.” He pointed between them.
“James,” the merman parroted and then pulled himself closer to Steve again with his muscular looking arms. He peered at the pencil in Steve’s hand and Steve held it out to him. James plucked it from his fingers and brought it close to his face, studying the combination of wood and graphite with his icy eyes. Steve retrieved another pencil from his bag and lightly pulled the tip of it over the paper, leaving a trail of graphite in its wake. James poked his tongue between his lips and tried to copy, his clumsy attempt producing a thick, dark line. The merman seemed happy with himself though, as he grinned broadly, turning to look at Steve with sparkling eyes.
Over the next hour or so, as the sun began its descent towards the horizon, Steve tried to satisfy the curiosity of his new friend. James had plucked at Steve’s clothes with his fingers, leading to Steve shedding first his jacket and then his t-shirt. He tried not to think too hard about how he felt when those cool fingers trailed over his body, tracing the swirls and lines of his tattoos. Eventually though, it started to get cold and Steve’s stomach started to rumble. “I have to go. Už musím odísť.”
James cocked his head and Steve let out a huff, trying to work out how to explain himself. In the end, he mimed sleeping and James seemed to get it. He packed all of his stuff away, under the merman’s watchful eye and then rubbed at the back of his head, not quite sure how to say goodbye. “Zbohom…” His farewell was cut off when James surged up on his tail and pressed a kiss to his cheek. Then, before Steve could even process it, the merman dove back into the lake, circular ripples the only thing to show he’d even been there.  “Zbohom, Jakov,” Steve finished with a whisper.
He walked slowly back to his lodgings, finding himself turning and looking back more than once on the journey. As he ate his dinner that evening, instead of sketching the passers-by he found himself returning to his sketch of James: the wet spots, although dried, having left smudges which just seemed to add to the portrait. And when he went to bed that night, it was to dream of an underwater world, sharp teeth and a red tail winding through his legs.
sorry if you dont do this stuff anymore but i just wanted to ask what if Ouma, the siren one, had a mating season like other marine animals do? would it effect research in any way, or would he act differently towards different people? again, sorry
It's fine, I still think of this AU fondly since it's a rare case of me pumping out new ideas for something.
That's actually an interesting question. I'm pretty sure it would bring another side to 621-O. So I'll say yes to the mating season thing. It could go different ways, like he'd either display more violent tendencies (an urge to eat more, or perhaps because he'd be even more territorial). Or he'd be trying to be in his best behavior to attract a mate-- (K1-B0).
After a few tries of seducing K1-B0, and the robot not understanding his advances, 621-O will eventually grow frustrated. Especially when another woman like Iruma or Kirigiri approaches K1-B0 😂😂😂
During all this, all K1-B0 does is just record his behavior just as usual.
That's all I could think of at this point in time, thanks for sending your question 😊
heurhgh. thinkin abt the prince and the sea witch AU because i am an ocean boy and and and theres so much to thinkabout with this one!!!! i love aus that tap into classic fairytales becasue theres so much to work with!!! connections to make and parallels to draw
context and thoughts under tha cut cus this au sorta escaped me at first and there's very little stuff about it in english
the original au came from a leaflet that was bundled with volume 8 on toranoana:
Tumblr media
rough translation explains that mermaid princess hinaichi rescued prince ronaldo, and sea witch draluc offers to give her legs to meet him again (and if he doesn't like her she'll turn into seafoam) which she declines. (literally what she says is "no need!" and the big words to the side of her say "no regrets" which is hilarious.) thats the end of the story and ronaldo is left alone. also, john is a sea turtle that lives in a clam.
im lifting my own headcanons and such from the original little mermaid story (not so much the didney one) where the prince doesn't see the mermaid and instead falls in love with this woman who comes to help him from a nearby temple (who he doesn't realize is actually the princess he's betrothed to later.) in this au that's draluc who was observing from a distance. (i just drew a half sunken agora and im calling that a temple. watever. its refd from one of the old arts and i think its pretty)
i like the idea that ronaldo exaggerates his own memory of spotting draluc that day due to the distance making details difficult paired with the fact that he was probably a little delirious. the idea that he doesn't immediately put together that draluc is the person he saw is kinda fun 2 me, and of course he'd make up some beautiful girl in his head. of course he would.
im messing with some ideas about draluc deciding to meddle with ronaldo instead - does he offer to turn him into a merman to look for his made up maiden? or does draluc come to land for his own reasons? maybe they visit each other at the temple every day and bring each other little things and talk and stuff. itd be cute if they butted heads but still went to see each other every day anyways.
a popular thing in the au is draluc being captured - maybe ronaldo, desparate to find his love and only knowing she was some sort of fish, does something stupid like setting up nets and traps. hahah. maybe he catches draluc and takes him to his castle to learn about merfolk and such. iunno. whatever the case i hope they fall in love in the process and also bicker a lot like their usual schtick
ive got a little sad idea that borrows from some 30 years later au stuff where draluc is worried about ronaldo's lifespan (this is also in the orig little mermaid where mermaids live longer than humans by hundreds of years) but also can't turn human to match ronaldo because it's too painful for him to walk on legs (since one of the au rules is that he must always be weak and the orig little mermaid made it clear that legs hurted real bad)
also also i very big headcanon draluc the sea witch has a sunken castle that looks a lot like ponyo's dad's house on the inside. fulla potions and stuff. wouldnt that be cute! maybe hes got an interest in human life/a collection of old things kinda like didney little mermaid - since canon draluc is so well adjusted to modern human stuff like games and livestreams and whatnot. in this au i think he'd be a lot more stubborn and reluctant to admit it, though, cus i also like the idea that his grandpa went the route of loving a human and going to land and maybe he doesn't want to end up like that? but it might be fate just cus draluc and ronaldo parallel D and helsing so well.
also i still want hinaichi to be in it but her rejection of the plot is so funny and good, i don't want to shove her in without thinking of a good way for it to make sense. she's good friends with draluc and likes his cooking...can you cook underwater??? maybe magically?? maybe draluc takes up cooking on land and brings hinaichi things he makes??? maybe then she gets interested in humans and wants to come to land to try all the cooking theyve got. iunno.
i usually keep this sort of note taking and doodling to myself but this fandom needs all the stimulation it can get. hiii hellooo :]
🎭 The Count of Monte-Cristo Prompts 🎭 — Edmond Dantès
Tumblr media
🎄For the Fandomtrees event ☃️
🎭 Bonapartiste Edmond Dantès: When Napoleon comes back for the Hundred Days, republicains assault If Castle to free the prisoners here- among which, Edmond Dantes and Abbé Faria.
🎭 Edmond drowns at sea (at any moment of canon, before it, after it, passing by the prison escape ). He escape the adventure… different (transformed into a sea creature / a merman / immortal from ocean cursed / saved by a new sea ally? )
🎭 Mercedes disagree with ‘the count of montecristo’ poor self care (lack of eating and sleeping ). She decides to do everything in her power to fix that (including low blow ), now matter how much Edmond refuses anything from her hand and denies knowing her.
🎭 Edmond’s whole plot get revealed before he can bring it to an end - and the police show up in front of the manor to arrest ‘the count of montecristo’ (Bonus: if you manage to twist it into a crack fic )
🎉 For the Smallfandomfest 🎊
🎭 Amnesia. During his arrest, Edmond Dantès takes a blow to his head and loses his memories.
Without them, he is no threat. Without them, there is no reason to send him to If castle anymore.
---
🎭 Winged soulmates Au
Au where everyone is born with wings. The color of your feathers are an indication of the bonds you make throughout life (platonic soulmates style?). When people get close to each other, the original wing color mixes together with the other person.
A few of Mercedes primaries are dark blue, reminiscent of the ones covering Edmond's wingspan. Edmond has a few bright red feathers amidst the blue : Mercedes’ trace on his soul.
After getting arrested, one of Edmond's comforts was observing the red feathers that adorned his blue wings. Light reached properly the bottom of his cell only a few hours a day for him to see them. As long as Mercedes red was there, he could keep hope to reunite with her.
Edmond escapes. He plans his revenge. He searches for Mercedes.
Only, when the Count of Montecristo finally sees Mercedes from afar, for the first time again after years in a cell, there isn't a single hint of blue nestled in her scarlet wingspan. There is just Fernand's green.
(=> angst :3)
In order to ensure no one recognise him, Edmond dyes Edmond Dantès’ blue into the Count of Montecristo's black. The count's wings are pure ink, devoid of any trace of color, of any taint from relationships (Edmond will not allow himself such a weakness again). But safely hidden below this black paint… some colors do exist in hiding: from Haydee and André (if only they knew it~ not that Edmond would ever tell them).
The truth, which Edmond doesn't know, is that Mercedes also dyes her feathers. She's been painting her few blue feathers into scarlet for years- because wearing the mark of an arrested man attracted uncomfortable attention, and excited Fernand's jealousy.
---
🎭 Edmond and Abbé Faria manage to escape the prison together. Now, what influence will Faria have on Edmond’s revenge wishes? (And his absurd self care too tbh XD)
---
🎭 Vampire Count of Montecristo
---
🎭 Bonapartiste Edmond Dantès. What if the false accusation signed by Fernand accidentally hit right in the nail, and Edmond had just always been hiding that part of him?
---
🎭 Edmond finds the treasure. He also finds a dragon, because the mythique creatures apparently weren’t all dead.
(Dragon!Haydee, dragon!André?)
---
🎭 Edmond should have never been able to swim all the way to the shore when escaping the prison. He should have drowned and died in the tempest.
So why didn’t he?
---
🎭 The world is wrong. And we are right.
This is a dangerously addictive game... and one of our favorites.
(But what about when we’re wrong?)
---
🎭 Crack Treated Seriously. Edmond had a plan, he really did. He is not sure where everything went wrong and how his count of Montecristo persona became your friendly neighbour, nor why all the elders of Paris suddenly bring him veggies every morning nagging about his health, but it happened. (To make things worse, he didn’t even have time to enfold the first part of his revenge plan that Danglar is in prison for fraud, Villefort found dead in an alley with its murderer running, and Mercedes officially announced she would divorce Fernand now that Albert was finally old enough).
Or any variant with that ’crack treated seriously, can’t do my revenge bcs karma did it for me before i could move’ vibe.
Hannigram Merman AU
this has been in my head since b4 I even finished the show but merman Hannibal who just lives in the Body Of Water near Will’s place (guys there’s some sort of water right?? Or is this some personal Mandela effect). - Hannibal lures animals to the waterfront and then drags them in to eat them. Sometimes people, if he’s lucky. Perhaps he knows a lake or river that connects to the Baltimore harbor. - Will’s dogs notice before he does, a couple of them standing and barking at the edge of the water whenever they’re let outside. Will cannot for the life of him figure out why. - Hannibal loves to watch Will work in the yard, play with the dogs, and especially loves when he gets close to the water’s edge to fish. He thinks sometimes of reaching out to touch him, but it’s just a fantasy, and for now he’s content to observe.
basically Will just has a pet fishman behind his house lol
Tumblr media
+ a little sketch I did of Mermannibal! His body is based off of a prehistoric shark that I’ve forgotten the name of X’) -🫀
Thrawn Mermaid AU
Tumblr media
Thrawn x f!Reader
You just found this isolated cove hiding a cavern some years ago and it became your hideout.
You decided to swim a bit.
You left your clothes on the shores, swimming in your undergarments. The water is fresh and the sun is warm, you dive to see the shells and little fish fleeing before you.
You found shellfish and open them with your knife to gulp one down. You savor the salty treat.
You find an impressively large scale in the sand. Multicolor and shiny, it is absolutely mesmerizing. Considering the size, the fish must be exceptionally large.
You continue swimming and see another one, you pick it up for your collection. A little farther away you found another one.
You break the surface to breathe and see a group of men and women running on the shore with nets and harpoons. It looks like they’re searching for something. You pay them no mind and they ignore you.
You follow the trail of shiny scales in the direction of the cavern.
It’s way darker inside but still manageable.
One of them is soiled with reddish stains.
You break off the surface again to admire the inside of the cavern. It is completely immersed when the tide is high, but for now you have water down to your waist.
As you observe the black damp walls you hear splashy sounds in the depth of the cavern. A fontain? Here?
You walk through water to the back of the cavern and you froze.
Here, entangled in fishnet, fighting to free itself is what you can only refer to as a mermaid.
You can't speak or move, in shock. But it surely sees you and it hiss in your direction. You get a glimpse of its teeth and decide you want none of that near your flesh.
You observe it in more detail. It is more precisely a merman, and an impressive specimen at that. Muscular, blue skin, glowing, piercing red eyes that seems to devour you, with fangs and claws. He’s fixated on you like a wounded animal ready to jump at anything that come near him.
Judging by the red flowing around him, he his indeed wounded. His tail is long with translucid fins, the scales definitively come from him.
He agitates himself in the net but only entangle himself more and the red around him deepens. You notice and long slash across his chest, from his shoulder to his waist and a part of a harpoon thrusted in his flank.
“Stop that, your badly injured!” You try. He looks at you with a sound that resemble a snarls.
You hear the group coming back, and he frozes too, his eyes following their sounds. You put two and two together.
You can’t just leave him like that... Not without trying something
You take one step closer and his attention is back on you. He roars at you like a pissed off lion would, a deep guttural sound that strike fear deep down your very being.
You stop, raising your hands up in surprise and fear. You wouldn’t have bet he was capable of such sounds.
You notice his eyes are fixed on your knife in your hand.
You extend your hand to him in a appeasing manner. Maybe he’s like a cat and need to snifs you first.
You slowly approach under his furious gaze and approach your hand of his face cautiousliy
He attempts to slash at you, you back down so rapidly you fall into water.
So no cat sniffing, got it.
You circle his agitated form to gain access to his back, wich seems to piss him off even more now that your not in his field of vision anymore.
“I’m trying to help” You explain, even if he didn’t understand.
His back his made of a deep blue skin, the scales of the tail stopping at his waist but a long fin runs from his neck to the back of his back.
You know some dolphins like to have their belly rubbed, but strangely you don’t think you should try on this one.
You take a fistful of the net and start cutting it down.
His whole body waves furiously, almost slapping you with his tail.
“ENOUGH!” You order.
You don’t know if he understood or because he felt the pressure of the net loosen up but he stops moving. He remains still, but you can still hear a low growl coming from him and his whole body is tense, ready to jump away.
You cut through the net as quickly as you can, surveiling the movement of his clawed hands. You hear the group coming closer. Hurry!
You almost finished when he decided he was freed enough and launch himself forward at full speed, with you still entangled in the net
He rapidly swims away from the screaming group, away from the cove, away from the shore, dragging you with him.
You didn’t have time to take your breath, the salted water is inside your lungs, burning them.
You try to tear the net appart, in the confusion you lost your knife.
Hurry!
Your vision darkens and your limbs loose their strenght gradually, but it’s the fire in your lungs the most painful.
Hurr...
You open your eyes, laying on the sand of the cove. You cough out water, freeing your lungs.
You look at the tranquil water of the sea. the water is still.
You shield your eyes with your hand, and away you can see the end of a tail disapearing into water.
Someday after you found your knife back into the cavern, curiously posed on a rock with a shiny multicolor scale with it.
The Sea Witch P1
Tumblr media
Media The Maze Runner AU X Mermaids
Character Newt (Merman)
Couple Newt X Reader
Rating Dark + flirty
Concept Merman X Sea Witch
I laid on my usual rock leisurely and observed the fish float around the reef, the sweet anemones dance in the currents, and the sunlight breaking through the surface miles above me. I suppose I'd been avoiding things, but surely, everyone needs an escape. Every so often, to pass the time I would blow bubbles. I Pursued my lips and made large air bubbles that would ripple and jiggle up from my rock, disappearing from my view not long after. I could hear the Syren song even from here, but that only made me want to avoid it even more.
"Newt?" A voice called across the reef,
I perked up sitting up a little seeing a familiar figure across the way, Light blue tail and dark brown hair he swam over and sat himself on my rock
"Hi Tommy," I gave him a brief forced smile
"What are you doing, all the way out here?"
"Sittin'," I shrug
"You're Father will be looking for you,"
"When isn't he," I sighed moving to lie on my back
"Well he likes to know where you are"
"Why does your family never worry about where you are?"
"because they know I'm either in my room or at Teresa’s"
"Yeah no one sends an army out for you if you don't come home in time"
"Well you best get home then" he says swimming off to make his way to Pearls, I know he's right I just didn't particularly like hearing it, so I sighed fixed my hair and swam home sneaking my way into the back of the castle. Immediately I noticed how busy everyone was everyone seemed to be rushing around, seeming panicked and concerned I imagine that's because of me it usually is but people are normally this concerned as this is such a common thing so normally people don't get so worried, and there's usual a guard waiting even at the back entrance to escort me to my father, so I headed to the throne room expecting to be yelled at halfway across the ocean.
But I stopped short "Father! What's happened?" I asked as I came to his side, he sat on the throne barely able to breathe or move his tail, his skin falling off his bones, and he barely had the strength to grip my hand back.
"There was a break-in," the advisor told me
"A break-in! What are you talking about?"
"She broke into the castle"
"Who?"
"The witch of the dark sea"
"Y/n… that evil witch! What did that hellish thing want?"
"The same as all her visits, for the dark sea to be given independence and for her to be officially recognised as its queen"
"That's ridiculous!"
"That's precisely what you're father said, however this time she was... less detoured"
"That's just the way she is, she's an evil thing, pure evil. What horrible witchcraft has she cursed upon my father?"
"She stole the Aurze Crystal"
"She what!"
"She stole the crystal, right from his crown."
"She's taken it?"
"Yes Sir"
"We have to retrieve it. without the crystal, He'll die"
"We have guards trying to figure out her location-"
"We know her location she's in the dark sea, she would have slinked back there the moment she took the crystal"
"Yes sir but.."
"But? The king is dying there is no time for but"
"But. few of the guards are willing to go into the dark sea"
"So? What's the plan then if they won't go what do we do?"
"We will plant a battalion of our best and bravest outside the edge of the dark sea, put the pressure on, she'll return the crystal if she wants her sea to remain." he explained "Go up to your room, we'll have the nurses care for the king we'll make sure to keep you updated on anything," he says
I sighed but did as he told me swimming up to my tower, I laid on my bed and immediately pouted.
They really think she'll give the crystal back if they just sit outside and wait.
None of them will even go in there.
We can't wait for her... she'll wait for my father to die and come in with her army of swamp madness to take control.
We couldn't wait.
I can't wait.
My father will be dead within a month without the crystal, and that's to say nothing of unrest in the kingdom without the crystal and its magic, A year without the crystal the kingdom will fall back to the sand and rocks from that which it was formed. We don't have time to be patient. The Army will take days to get across the ocean to the dark sea.
I could swim there in a day, I'm small, I'm fast, I'm sneaky, and she won't be expecting us to send someone alone. I could sneak there steal back the crystal and get back in time. I don't think I have much of a choice.
I grabbed some things I might need in a bag and threw it over my shoulder, I built a little pillow body in my bed and snuck my way out the window and the castle.
I made sure I wasn't spotted by anyone even if that meant I did have to be a little more sneaky than I usually would but it wasn't long until I reached the border, the normal blue with light breaking through beyond the border it was dark, little light was able to get through, the sweet fresh sand replaced with harsh marsh and moss the whole place looked unattractive and concerning. But I had to do this, I made my way into the dark sea doing my best not to touch anything as I headed deeper and deeper, barely any light made its way here, the gross moss and mud below me, tall reeds and seaweed often knotting around themselves, I could have sworn I saw yellow eyes watching me from the darkness but I just swam on. Until At last I found the dark oily stone castle of the dark sea, the home of the sea witch. I made sure to sneak my way close watching explosions of colour from the windows within and listening to the gentle sound of her song. She sounded quiet at a distance so I snuck myself inside making sure to listen and check everywhere for dangers and the crystal.
"AHHHH!" I screamed in shock as something grabbed my tail these creeping Thorn-covered weeds I had seen all about the castle it had grabbed and wrapped around the end of my tail leaving me unable to swim I desperately tried to unknot it from around me but that only seemed to catch the thorns more causing more pain.
Her sly evil chuckle echoed across the castle
"No, no no," I muttered desperately trying to get out of these thorns
"Well, well. Hello little prince" her voice spoke up
"Y/n" I glared as I looked at her as she lingered above me her long dark hair swirling, her body in a skintight almost seamless black dress with no tail as she had become one with the moss and dark water of the dark sea leaving her lower half fluid
"Well this is a surprise, you could have called I'd have cleaned the place up” She smirked
“You know why I’m here”
“I do but it’s still lovely for you to pop by” she smiled “You’re here for this” she smiled clicking her fingers and there hovered above her hand was the crystal, the moment I saw it I tried to grab for it but she was smart clicking her fingers again and it disappeared “Ah ah ah. Not so fast you can’t just take it and go, that would make you a very rude guest Newt”
“Give me the crystal! You know what will happen if you don’t return it”
“I do.”
“The army will be here in days-”
“I know, but I think I’ve found myself an even better hostage to negotiate with” she smirked “Vines, my lovely little pets. Take him to the dungeon!”
“No! Noo! Let me go!” I screamed desperately clawing my nails into the stone floor trying to prevent the veins from dragging me away but they tightened and forced me away with little resistance. It dragged me down to the bottom of the castle into a stone and metal dungeon where the vines finally let go of me leaving me in the dark dungeon and a scratched tail for a good while.
“Enjoying my dungeon?” she smirked as she headed down to see me
“Not particularly”
“Awww I gave you the nice room” she cooed
“I’d be happier if you let me go!”
“That’s not going to happen, I have a prince as a hostage why would I give that up?” she smirked she merely moved her hand and my body was thrown against the wall
“They’ll know I’m missing soon, they’ll come after you”
“I’m counting on it. The marshes have been hungry of late”
“You can’t really think I’ll just stay here, I won’t stop trying to get out!”
“Ohh you’re not going anywhere little prince” She smirked as she snapped her fingers and all of a sudden the stone wall I had been pushed against seemed to wriggle, to writhe almost as if it came alive, it became fluid much like her body I screamed in fear as it came alive and before I could swim away tendrils stretched out from the wall and wrapped around the end of my tail, my waist, my upper arms, my wrists and my neck pulling me tight to the fleshy wall giving me utterly no resistance from her control. “Now, you stay here and get comfortable while I deal with some business” she smiled brushing some of my hair from my eyes
“Evil Witch!”
“Aww thank you” she smiled giving my cheek a kiss before she headed away
“You can’t silence me!” I yelled but she snapped her finger and another tendril came and made its way towards my mouth Immediately I shut my mouth as tight as I could shaking my head trying to get it away from me but it forced its way into my mouth and halfway down my throat enough to make me gag and choke, it throbbed inside my mouth but no matter how much I tried to bite and fight it merely forced my mouth open
“I think I can little prince” she smirked “Have a nice evening, I’ll be seeing you later”
