Timelapse of the "Trashed Beauty in Oil" @mermaidsforchange shoot during the final fully "oil" covered look! (I put it in quotations b/c this is not actual oil; it's a work of art in the water created by @mermaidsforchange, headed up by creative director @bowtiesandfireflies! They used natural products & makeup to innovate an oil spill set for me to "drown" in! @chiaraphoto (who took the amazing photos and this timelapse & @bowtiesandfireflies -and everyone they work with-are all just so talented! I also got to realize my dream that day of wearing a @bowtiesandfireflies mermaid top-I've admired her work from afar for years! Here’s a random Suzy fact!: Back when Suzy did the mermaid photo shoot in 2017 with MermaidsforChange she said that her mermaid fins weighed about 25-30 pounds! She said on her twitter that she was not ready for an underwater photo shoot like that. She said that she felt like she was drowning

One more week! We can't wait to see everyone who will be joining us! We'll be starting @emptythetanksworldwide day at #SeaLifePark at 10am to noon then hopping over to Kahala Resort's #DolphinQuest where our reef and beach cleanup with @oneoceanconservation x @waterinspired will run from noon to 3pm and we'll be also protesting right down the beach in front of the resort from 1-3pm! It will be an all hands on deck for the ocean day and a TON of fun :)! We'll have prizes and sticker packs for participants! See you soon! This creates large blue-green algae blooms in the lake's water which is then released into rivers and waterways. The nutrient-rich waste water amplifies the naturally occurring red tide and this year it has done so with such alarming efficiency that Florida shores are covered with dead and dying animals who were unable to survive it. Brevetoxins in red tide can attack the nervous system of marine life and blue-green algae depletes oxygen levels in the water, creating terrifying chances of survival for Florida's marine life. How did this get this out of control? While tigers are rare to see, this time of year offers your highest chance of having one swim by on your dive! Repost @juansharks ・・・ Love this time of year in Hawaii. The big female tiger Sharks migrate through the fall months at the aggregate sites @oneoceandiving. With less than 30,000 tiger sharks world wide it is still extremely rare to encounter one. Read the full description to find out how you can join me this Sunday & help! 🌑 Offshore drilling comes with a risk factor too high for us to ignore. As we go though the shallow fossil fuel reserves, offshore drilling is conducted deeper and further, and with increased depth and harsher offshore environments, we see higher risk of accidents, fires and spills. Offshore drilling and the risks that come with it have caused massive disasters in the past, and the aftermath on environment and wildlife is still visible today. This seems like an issue impossible to handle in our daily lives, but by choosing to go sustainable we can make an impact! Choose to avoid plastic, go electric and consider solar as an option, and walk, take public transportation or bike, when possible!
