The fins I chose for Gonta are based of Sea-Turtle. He was the last one of the maincast, so I rushed him a little bit, sorry. But finally I’m done, after 3 years. However, there’s still a little bit more to go!

Alright!

So, like Galactic Melancholy, “Danganronpa: Atlantic Sorrow” is a talentswap fic with a mix of characters from the game! It takes place in a mysterious underwater facility, and is headed by a mysterious mermaid known as Monohina, heading by her crab and fish sidekicks.

The primary twist is that these talents are taken from Danganronpa Another and Danganronpa Another 2!

Our protagonist is Komaru Naegi, the Ultimate Pilot! Thanks to her having an Ultimate talent, I’d believe that she would be a far more confident person, without her losing that good ol’ Komaru charm. In spite of her hermbo energy, Komaru’s shocking moments of intelligence and craftiness could help her survive in the diametric opposite of the sky!

But she is not alone in her endeavors, for she also has the help of:

Toko Fukawa, the cowardly and distrusting Ultimate Police Officer as well as Komaru’s support, with a hidden free-spirited side!

Sayaka Maizono, the charismatic and cheery Ultimate Merchant/famous advertising personality with a million-dollar smile!

Leon Kuwata, the burnt-out prodigy Ultimate Actor who wants nothing more than to step out of the limelight and follow a different dream!

Chihiro Fujisaki, the timid yet superbly-kind-hearted Ultimate Cheerleader who wants nothing more than to assert himself as a real man!

Sakura Oogami, the wise and contemplative Ultimate Psychologist, who’s a firm believer in a healthy body equalling a healthy mind!

Kazuichi Souda, the Ultimate Billiards Player who wishes to reinvent himself as a tough assertive person, but can’t shake his natural cowardice!

Hiyoko Saionji, the cute-looking yet mean-spirited and competitive Ultimate Painter, who is the latest scion of an influential family of traditional artists!

Peko Pekoyama, the stoic Ultimate Journalist with an analytical mind and a pair of sharp eyes that no piece of information is able to evade!

Nagito Komaeda, the gentle yet self-deprecating Ultimate Professor whose soft baggy eyes and dorky demeanor belies a hidden “zealous” side.

Gundham Tanaka, the Ultimate Lawyer who is the definition of a “bunny-ears lawyer” and has mysterious delusions of being the “fangs of justice”.

Shuichi Saihara, a guilt-stricken young boy who refuses to share his Ultimate talent, claiming that he doesn’t deserve it and “failed” at it.

Kaede Akamatsu, the optimistic yet hard-headed Ultimate Boxer, whose muscular body belies a dorky love for shonen manga and cake!

Angie Yonaga, the class’s foreign exchange student and the Ultimate Soccer Player who has weird and forceful methods for promoting “teamwork”!

Gonta Gokuhara, the nature-loving Ultimate Guitarist who is big in both body and heart and wishes to share his “songs from forest family”.

Ryoma Hoshi, a former ex-convict who is currently the Ultimate Priest and wishes to find solace and atonement for his past deeds in the form of “God”.

Can this cast of characters successfully evade the grasping hands of death, or will despair force them down into even deeper depths?

//But I’ve made a few notable changes from this original list, though I retain my stance on a lot of it.

I changed my mind of Kaito’s and went from Puss in Boots to instead Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk. Reason being in quite a few iterations of the story, Jack is portrayed as a bold and adventurous spirit, especially in his decision to climb the beanstalk and break through the clouds, just like Kaito.

I did a bit of swapping, and I replaced Peter Pan for Kokichi with Rumpelstiltskin, who I originally gave to Angie, but it definitely fits Kokichi more. For Angie, I’m still not quite sure, but I’m thinking she could have Ursula, as in Ursula from the Little Mermaid. She’s also a manipulative and cunning villain who lends their powers and aid to the heroes for a price, but she never really lies to Ariel, just like how Angie never really lies to the other students, even though she takes complete control of them.

Kiyo getting Scheherazade was something I got a lot of back talk with, since a lot of people didn’t agree with it. I originally picked it because the Arabian Night’s felt right up Kiyo’s alley with how many stories he had to tell and how in depth a character he was, but I did somewhat agree these reasons were flimsy. I’ve changed it to Rattenfänger, as in der Rattenfänger von Hameln, also known as the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The reason for this is also pretty loose, but Kiyo’s fascination with folklore and rituals aligns with the mysterious and eerie nature of the Pied Piper.

Ryoma was really difficult, but I decided to change his Persona to Vincent, which is, APPARENTLY, the real name of the prince from Beauty and the Beast. Someone fact check me on that one, but the point is Ryoma’s tough exterior and tragic past parallel the Beast’s transformation and redemption. It’s easy to forget this, but Ryoma was once a spoiled and wild kid before his bout with the crime family turned his life to hell.

I’ve decided to keep Kirumi’s Persona as it is, but I’ve found that Snow White is a decent alternative.

Lastly, Tsumugi getting Bluebeard, like Kiyo, was also a very controversial choice that basically nobody agreed with. In fact, there were many who told me that just because she had blue hair and a list of evil deeds, doesn’t mean it’s a good choice. So I changed it to Grimhilde, Aka, the evil queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Ultimately, I think this one is better, since Tsumugi’s obsession with perfection and her dual nature align with the Evil Queen’s vanity and the fact that both execute their evil plans by transforming their looks to fool the heroes.

//For now, everybody else remains the same, but I do appreciate any more suggestions and/or feedback.

reviewing the v3′s kids anniversary outfits

i know i’m late to the party shhhh

rantaro: lavender accents are an interesting choice for rantaro but the fedora tip....no.

kokichi: i know this is a controversial take in the kokichi fandom but i’m not overly fond of this one...it looks Fine but greasy casino owner is not a vibe i fuck w/.

kiibo: the fact that he has FORMAL ARMOR is hilarious - who do you think built that for him, miu or the professor??? also i must agree with my mutual quinn in that he definitely has the coat and scarf just so he can give them away. everyone knows that’s why but he thinks he’s being very subtle.

gonta: ABSOLUTELY BLESSED. ponytail gonta is a massive W and i think the suit looks genuinely really nice. his bowtie...!

shuichi: another controversial take but i love this one. is it hideous? yes! is it in character? also yes! he did NOT get it fitted and it’s too loose in the waist and too tight in the shoulders. he shuffles out onto the dance floor smelling like mothballs. everyone who sees him is immediately compelled to kiss him on the lips. sir i am captivated by your complete lack of drip.

korekiyo: this one is so good it’s my hc redesign for him. minus the fedora and ponytail of course but nobody’s perfect.

ryoma: WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT HAT

kaito: a really nice looking design and a win for all detective kaito talentswap fans 😌. similar to kiibo in that he wore that extra coat just to drape on someone.

kaede: very cute...a little tacky but in a fun prom way!! the bun looks nice and that chibi art of her sharing champagne with shuichi lives in my head rent free.

miu: PERFECTION. i absolutely ADORE mermaid dresses so this one was always gonna be a hit, but it’s just!! so good!!! the scrunchy...the big sunglasses...she is Living Her Best Life. hot partygirl energy is unmatched.

tsumugi: !!!!! ok i don’t know what those silk elbow-scarf things Are (i thought they were chinese bc i always see them on chinese gods but dr is japanese so maybe they’re just a general east asian thing?? idk) bu they are *gorgeous*. the elegance!! the flow!!! and what a nice springtime color scheme too. say what you will about tsumugi’s neverending torment of her ocs but good god does she have style.

tenko: similar to shuichi’s in that it’s hideous but we support that. they got so close to putting her in an actual suit!! maybe in another ten years kodaka will finally allow one of his female characters to wear pants. also never forget her giving himiko a rose in the chibi art that shit cute as hell.

kirumi: ohhh lovely. it seems like they played up her being a politician? it turned out great, i especially love the cape and boots. and she’s not wearing gloves!! that feels significant to me for some reason.

maki: very nice color scheme and the flower hairpiece is especially lovely. idk why but it feels like she’s matching with tsumugi. diversity win: the two most murderous women you know are on a date <3

himiko: so CUUUTE. the sheer tulle skirt over the lower skirt looks really nice, and i love the star pattern. can’t forget the waist bow also i love a good waist bow. the magicial girl aesthetic is great, but i do wish they’d made her hat bigger? it’s too big to be a clip-on but too small to be an actual hat and it just looks a bit silly to me.

angie: what kind of party city aladdin nonsense...THIS is what it takes for one of the girls to wear pants??? i’ll just wait another ten years thanks >:(

Gonta and Kokichi accompany Miu to her favorite place, where everything suddenly goes horribly wrong.

Junk and litter towered high above their heads, cobbled together in complicated structures that would collapse if the wrong piece was pulled out. These structures formed a sprawling web of a maze, made of walls that creaked ominously as they swam by. With smaller inhabitants occupying the space and hiding places the towers provided, it was quite literally a trash city. A trash-land, made up of the junk that humans had continuously dumped overboard for well over a millennia.

Kokichi kept himself glued to Gonta’s side, casting doubtful looks up at the junk towers.

“Geez, I don’t know what you see in a creepy place like this,” he said. A shiver ran down his spine. The structures flooded the entire area with shadow, the water around them cold with foreboding. Also with the lack of sunlight. His voice lowered to a grumble. “What a weirdo.”

Gonta abruptly stopped swimming, so suddenly that Kokichi hit the brakes as well. He angled his tail fin sharply down, so that the drag of the water took out his momentum. “That’s really mean. Miu likes this place.”

Kokichi pouted, crossing his arms. He flipped over, his tail providing some distance between the two of them. Gaze averted, he said, “I’m only joking, Miu knows that. Right, Miu?”

Miu hadn’t stopped, already quite a bit ahead of them. She now hovered over some trash that bulged from the base of one of the towers, tilting her head. Kokichi didn’t know what she saw in the mess of glass and jagged metal, but evidently she saw something promising there, because she failed to respond to Kokichi.

He huffed, annoyed at being ignored. “Hello? Isn’t that right, Miu?”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever, don’t get your fins in a twist,” she said unsatisfactorily. Her gaze remained fixed on the pile. “Hm… oh! This is perfect!”

She snaked her arm down into a gap in the junk. Up to her elbow, she felt around for whatever she’d found. Then, finding it, she pushed back off the pile.

Or she tried to, at least. Halfway out, she jerked to a stop as she met resistance. Just as she did, Gonta jumped. He jerked his face up, his expression twisted with worry as he regarded the tower. Kokichi picked up on it, following Gonta’s gaze.

He saw nothing wrong, but a pit of dread formed in his gut.

Miu gave another tug, and Gonta’s shoulders hitched.

“Um, Miu?” he called out to her, letting himself drift forward on a flick of his tail. “I don’t think you should--.”

“Got it!” she exclaimed, and with one last tug yanked the object from the pile.

Finally, Kokichi heard what Gonta must have already picked up on. As the rusted part came free, a wailing groan reverberated in the current. He flinched; both his and Miu’s eyes shot up to the tilting tower. Motion further dislodged more junk from the heap and, like a house of cards, it caused even more to fall as the structure collapsed.

“Miu!” Kokichi exclaimed, reaching out a hand, but he flinched back as debris rained down. Eyes wide, it was as if all he could do was watch as Miu shrieked and covered her head, too much to swim away from. The towers bore down on her.

A sudden strong vortex of water slammed into him. He spun in place, head over fin in a dizzying tumble. When he regained control, he realized it had been Gonta who’d knocked him over, shooting straight past him with powerful beats of his tail. Kokichi gaped, calling out for Gonta as he lunged into danger. His arms wrapped around Miu, securing her against his chest.

And the towers came down around them.

“Gonta! Miu!”

Great clouds of sand rose into the water, disturbed by the falling trash. Kokichi couldn’t see the rubble where once the unstable structure stood; he could only imagine, with a constricted chest, the carnage that must remain. Terror spun his head, thoughts racing too fast for him to grab hold.

Miu, Gonta… Just like that, the two of them…

The sand began to settle; shadows shifted. Then, out of the dispersing cloud, Gonta swam out with Miu secure in his arms.

Relief gushed through him so powerfully that Kokichi sank to the ocean floor. It was an uncharacteristic display of emotion for him, he knew, but still he couldn’t stop trembling. They were ok. They were both ok.

Miu pressed her forehead hard into Gonta’s chest, gripping his shoulders so tightly that her knuckles were blanched white. Her shoulders shook, voice tremulous as she at last spoke, “Y-you just… h-have to jump at a chance to… h-h-hold me, huh?”

Where normally her tone would contain scorn, now there was none. Shaky and barely choking down a sob, Miu still hadn’t fully processed what had just happened.

“I am so glad you’re ok, Miu,” Gonta said, ignoring her chosen words to hug her close. Gentle for him, yet firm all the same; Kokichi knew from first-hand experience how much strength those thick, muscular arms possessed.

He’d felt it, too, when Gonta raced past him to get to Miu in time.

“D-dummies. You’re both, so dumb.” Tears, real ones, came to his eyes. He sobbed, clapping his hands over his mouth too late to stop it. “That should be… my line. G-geez!”

If that had really been the end, Kokichi didn’t know what he would do. No doubt his entire world would have shattered, like the tenuous pile of junk that had towered over the area. He couldn’t have handled it.

But that hadn’t happened. Thanks to Gonta’s quick action, they were both safe and alive. And, as the sand began to settle back over the previously-shadowed, chilling area, the sun began to filter through to shine on it once again.

Mondo, Gonta, Kaito, and Peko finding out their mermaid s/o was being bullied?

Protect the mermaid, fellas.

Sorry this is so long, but I got kind of into writing this.

Fish are Friends (Mondo, Peko, Kaito, and Gonta’s Mermaid!S/O who was being bullied)

Mondo Oowada(Mermaid Subspecies: Shark Mermaid)

Much like Mondo, you had quite the temper. You could get really loud and bitey easily and you often went off ranting whenever someone pissed you off.

But unlike Mondo, since you had to use a wheelchair to transport yourself due to your tail, you couldn’t ward off the people who harassed you as easily. The most you could do is swing your tail or gnash your teeth. 

This is only because the last time you lunged at them from the wheelchair…didn’t go so well.

You never told Mondo that you were being bullied cuz the thought to tell him never occurred to you–you thought you were fine enough on your own, even if it was hard to deal with them.

But he’d find out eventually anyway.

It was during a particularly bad situation, the bullies didn’t even let you leave class yet. They blocked your way out from the class and had backed you up into a wall, dodging your attempts to bite at and swat at them with your tail.

At one point you tried one more time and they grabbed your tail midair and tugged you from your wheelchair, making you yell.

That was when the classroom door opened, and–in a flash, one of the boys was flung into a wall by a punch, and the others looked at the perpetrator. That was when you heard him.

“Get the fuck out. All of you. NOW!” and all of them–except the one that was punched, he got dragged out–booked it as you stared up at Mondo after a while of looking down from the violence.

Mondo looked down at you in concern, helping you back into the wheelchair, before his gaze hardened, “So, is this why you were actin’ kind of off lately?” “…..it’s not a big deal, don’t get y’er pomp in a twist.”

“S/O, tell me–this hasn’t happened just once, has it? They were way too comfy with gettin’ physical for me to think so,” he puts his hand on the side of your wheelchair, but you pushed it off.

He frowned, kneeling down and looking at you. You looked back at him after a bit, guilt written all over your face.

“…..S/O, please–just…fuckin’ tell me if this shit happens to you, okay? If anyone’s fucking with you, tell me! I’ll help you deal with it…okay?” “…..”

You sigh, but nod, “Me pride is tellin’ me to decline that offer, but…..at the same time, it’d be pretty bad if I were to say no, it would.”

Grabbing his hand, you nod, “…sorry to make ye worry about me, love. I just–thought I could handle it meself.”

Mondo sighs, “I get that–I mean, I’m like that too, y’know? But–we should…try not to do that from now on, alright?” “Aye.”

He smiled a bit, before looking around, “...now, uh, let’s get outta here before they come back with a teacher.” “Oh, right, we prolly should, eh?”

Peko Pekoyama(Standard Mermaid)

Peko didn’t know this quite yet, but you had been picked on for quite some time.

Reasoning? I guess it was because of the way she treated you.

Peko was still really new to the whole “relationship” thing, she still had a bit of the mentality that you were the most important thing when it came to the two of you.

As such, due to her background and demeanor, the majority of the time, you got special treatment.

She’d carry your things, feed you lunch, help you study or work, etc.

It seems that some of the other students were jealous of you getting doted on 24/7, but you weren’t intentionally trying to get Peko to take care of you like this. Heck, you were trying to show her that you had mutual respect for her and wanted to take care of her as well.

But apparently some people didn’t see or realize that. And they must’ve felt it was their job to “put you back in your place” or something.

So as they made sure Peko was busy doing something, most likely tending to Fuyuhiko and leaving you by yourself for a bit, they usually cornered your wheelchair somewhere and talked down to you.

Degrading you, trying to guilt trip you, making you feel bad about “manipulating” or “using” Peko to feel important..

While at first it didn’t get to you, it did start to weigh down on you eventually. Mainly because you started to get anxious that they were right.

One day, though, Peko caught them in the middle of it.

Fuyuhiko hadn’t needed her as long as he did usually, so she was rushing back to see you, only to see you silently crying and staring up at a group of people who were calling you such disgusting names.

What is this? What’s happening?

Peko stormed over to them, filled with anger that was slowly rising, and pushing the group away with a slide in front of you.

“Get away.”

Those two words managed to give the group chills, as they silently ran off under Peko’s hardened, red-eyed glare.

She turned to you, as you were wiping your eyes and sniffling. Her gaze softening, she kneels in front of you, “S/O. I would like to know what happened here. Why were they harassing you?” her voice held genuine concern and her gaze was worried.

You smiled sadly at her, “...i-it was just the normal, Peko.” “The normal? Have they been doing this to you this whole time?”

You nodded, looking guilty as you avoided her gaze. “....I...can go into details later, but--I just want to get out of here now.”

Peko was silent, before nodding in understanding, and taking your hand with a gentle squeeze, “...lets get you some tea, S/O. It will calm your nerves,” she said with a gentle smile as you nodded in agreement.

Kaito Momota(Mermaid Subspecies: Siren)

They were envious of your voice. Your talents in singing and just how generally nice it was to hear you.

Multiple girls, who were envious of your natural talents when it came to your voice--it wasn’t like you could help it, you were born with that talent.

You were a Siren after all. But it seems they didn’t care about that, and they usually ridiculed you and gossiped about you a ton, especially when they knew you were there.

“I bet S/O’s probably lip syncing when they sing. No way someone sounds as good--if not better--than the singer.” “I bet they’re paying Sayaka to sing in the background for them. Don’t they sound similar to her when they sing?”

You heard a lot of that stuff almost daily. But, you tried not to let it bother you, especially since Kaito was around a lot when they did.

You knew how protective and rash he could get when it came to protecting you and your image, he was your boyfriend after all. But, you didn’t want him to be concerned and cause fights for you--that might make things even worse.

Although it was during a show that Sayaka had asked you to join her on when things suddenly got very violent and serious.

While you two were singing and generally having a nice time, there was a noise above the stage, and you glanced up only to see a stage light falling down above you.

Things were a blur, before you saw that Kaito had lunged onto stage--thank the lords he was in the front row--and had grabbed you off your wheelchair and out of the way, while Nekomaru had also shielded Sayaka from the impact as she was close by.

The crowd expressed concern and your friends rushed up, as Kaito looked around, “What the hell? What was that??” he frowned, getting angrier as he got up and looked around, shouting for the culprit to show themselves.

The next few minutes were investigation and some of the others trying to offer you comfort as you were obviously shaken.

Security had caught the culprits that you recognized and identified as your bullies, and you heard Kaito start to speak up before he was interrupted by the students being dragged off the premises.

Backstage, after getting permission, Kaito went to see you in the dressing room, Sayaka leaving to let you two talk.

“...so, bullies, eh?” he sighed in disappointment, mostly at himself as he tightened his hand into a fist, “Why didn’t I notice before? You did seem pretty sad....agh, I’m a goddamn idiot,” but as soon as he began sulking, he dragged himself out of it, going to you and holding your hands.

“But, really, they’re not bullies anymore if they’re attempting shit like that. That’s straight up....attempted murder, man!” he didn’t let you get much of a word in as he looked you in the eyes, “S/O, listen, from now on, I’m gonna be more vigilant and protect you from these types of people! I shoulda been doing that before, but I thought things were okay. They’re really not, judgin’ by tonight.”

He smiled confidently, “But, don’t worry--cuz things will get better! I’ll make sure of it, so please--lemme know if something’s happening. I want to help!”

You stared at him quietly, before smiling and grasping his hands, “....yes, alright. I’ll--I’ll try my best to not let my fear get the best of me, either.”

Gonta Gokuhara(Mermaid Subspecies: Eel Mermaid)

Due to the fact your species of Mermaid produced a lot of mucus and slime as opposed to others, it was no real surprise to you that you became a target of bullying.

It was really hard to clean up after your constant trails of mucus left by your lower body, you gave the janitors a hard time, but you couldn’t help it.

Although after a while, because of this, it was preferred that you took outside classes, and tutoring, so that you could avoid messes in school.

This seemed to make people laugh and make fun of you a lot, commenting on how S/O was so gross that they had to sit outside all the time, and that they couldn’t even hold a pencil right or that their uniform slipped off all the time and dirt and grass stuck to their tail....

And even though your high stamina made you sleep deprived due to a lack of motivation or willingness to sleep, your responses were either lacking or made more extreme because your emotions flared when tired, that made you even more hilarious to them.

Although, there were a select few that were afraid to mess with you because of one reason--Gonta.

They couldn’t get past how scary and tall he looked, so even if he was “stupid” and “gullible” in their eyes, some couldn’t muster up the courage to get near you two.

Oftentimes they bullied you when he was away for that reason, tending to bugs or dragged off by someone wanting him for something.

But he just happened to catch them when they thought he was gone, in reality, he was just getting you both lunch when he saw you sitting at the table, apologizing as they did their regular routine.

“Look at this! Your tail’s so sticky and gross! You got grass everywhere!” “I’m sorry..” “Yeah, and earlier, you were in the cafeteria, I slipped on your mucus, it hurt!” “I’m really sorry, I just...can’t help it.”

Gonta was confused and worried. They sounded really aggressive. Rushing over in concern, he stopped behind them, making them all freeze as they turned around to look at the source of the hulking shadow.

“Excuse Gonta, but, what are you all saying and doing to S/O? Gonta would appreciate it much if you say so.”

Although his concern made him look extremely angry, his brows furrowed, a frown on his face, looking down at them.

Even the ones who didn’t fear Gonta backed away, quietly apologizing as they made their escape, and his face returned to pure confusion as he sat next to you.

“Why were those people treating S/O so bad? Seemed so angry and mean..” “I-I guess it’s because of my tail..they do that a lot, really.”

“A lot?!” he flinched, “They say mean things like that..? But why? S/O’s tail is so...unique! Is like snail and slug, but--but a bit silkier! It very cute to Gonta!” he meant it as a compliment but you felt a bit bad, and it showed, so he apologized awkwardly.

“Some people don’t like slimy things, Gonta--even snails,” you said, sipping on some tea.

“...Gonta...see,” he spoke quieter, before looking at you, “Um, S/O--Gonta...Gonta not really that good when it come to bullying, sometimes can’t even tell when something is bullying. They were just...so mean, Gonta knew something was wrong, but--” he grabbed your hand, not even cringing at the sticky sound, “Gonta want to help S/O if they’re being bullied! S-So, if this happen again, please tell Gonta! Gonta will make it right!”

He was so determined, it was inspiring. You smiled, rubbing your thumb along his knuckles, “....alright, then. Thank you, Gonta.”

Gonta smiled, kissing your hand gently, again, despite the slime. He really loved you that much, huh?

Not to say that was a bad thing.
