Marauders
I'm not sure if I'm stupid or if this did not make any fucking sense. Chris Merloni is an FBI agent whose wife had her eyes cut out of her skull. He's working a robbery case that is efficient and violent. Turns out that the robber is his junior agent. Also there's a corrupt Cincinnati PD with a storyline that made no sense. None of it made sense.

AU where Merlin is Arthur's familiar
Firstly, for everyone that doesn't know, in European folklore of the medieval and early modern periods, familiars were believed to be supernatural entities or spiritual guardians that would protect or assist witches and cunning folk in their practice of magic. They're almost always represented as some kind of animal, like a cat or a bird, sometimes a demon.
So, having that cleared up, how would Merlin be a familiar and how would he be Arthur's familiar of all people when Arthur isn't a sorcerer?
That's the thing, in this AU a group of evil druids or sorcerers find out about Merlin's identity earlier and his whereabouts while he is still in Ealdor. Not wanting Emry's magic to be under the command of some prophesied king and desiring that power to themselves, they kidnapped him and make a ritual to turn him into a familiar (a merlin especifically). They also erase his memory so Merlin doesn't remember he was ever human. Just when they where about to bond the bird to the sorcerer/druid leader to have Emrys magic under their command, Merlin manages to escape. He doesn't know who he is or where to go, he just knows he has to go far away from there.
Somehow, probably through his run away ordeal, familiar Merlin ends up in Camelot's castle, with an injured wing. He's chirping in pain when the young prince finds him in his yard.
Arthur: (covering his ears) Why are you making so much noise? Shut up! (looking closely) Wait! you're hurt? (picks him up carefully) I think your wing is broken. (Merlin chirps louder) Alright, alright! I'll find help. (runs as fast as he can) Gaius! Gaius!
The court physician bandages the bird's wing, but he can't take care of it due to his work, so Arthur does it. He makes a place for the bird in his room and feeds it. He tries to not get attached to it knowing the bird will have to return to its natural environment as soon as it recovers. However, after the bird's wing is healed, it doesn't want to leave, not matter how many times Arthur frees it in the forest, it always comes back, so finally Arthur decides to keep it. He has a bit of a fight with his father, because he never let Arthur have a pet, but after the bird protects the prince of a witch that was in disguise by stinging her eyes out, the king finally allows the prince to keep it. The prince, very happy, brings the bird to his chambers.
Arthur: (with Merlin in his forearm) Now the you're oficially my pet- (the bird chirps in protest) Well, my, eh... animal companion? (the bird deadpans) We'll work on that later. The point is, I should probably give you a name. (the bird moves its wings, excited) What about...bird? (the bird shakes it's head) Yeah, I've been calling you that from the start, so no. hmmm. What about falcon? Gaius says you're a falcon, though you're too small to be one, honestly. (the bird chirps, offended). I should just call you falcon or little falcon. No, it's still too long. Lil' falc? No. hmmmm. I think Gaius said you were a especific kind of falcon? How was it? Mar... Mer...Merloni? Merlon... Merlin! That was it. I'll call you Merlin.
Without knowing, Arthur just finished the last step of the ritual: naming the familiar, and with that, becoming the familiar's master. When the bond is created, a flash of light blinds him and, suddenly, the bird is replaced by a boy, who now is sitting on him, while he's spread on the floor.
Arthur: (looking up, shocked) What the fu-
Merlin: (looking down, confused) Arthur! Why are you smaller now? Wait... I can talk? (brings his hand to his face surprised) And I have... hands? Where are my wings? (panicking) Arthur, I lost my wings! And my feathers!(crying)NOOOOO!
Arthur: Merlin? That's.. you? Merlin? Mer...Merlin, shut up! (Merlin stops crying) And get off me! (shoves Merlin aside) How did this happen?
Merlin: You think I know?! Maybe that witch cursed me to be as ugly as you as a revenge for turning her blind. (sobs) My wings, my beautiful wings.
Arthur: (offended) Excuse me? Is not like you were a "handsome" bird either, you poor excuse of a falcon.
Merlin: How would you know, human with so little imagination that names his bird after their species?
After their stupid fight, they go to Gaius, in secret, of course. They can't have the king knowing the prince's bird was cursed. The physician does his investigation and, after Merlin discovers he can turn to his bird form and his human form at will and do some magic stuff, he concludes Merlin is, in fact, a familiar.
Gaius: Incredible! I thought they were a myth. It's said they're spiritual guardians of magic itself and that just the most powerful sorcerers could summond one and tamed them to become even more powerful.
Merlin: No... it can't be. I'm just a bird! I can't be a magical creature! I can't!
Arthur: (Knowing Merlin's scared due to his father laws and believes) Merlin. It's okay.
Merlin: (crying, almost hysterical) NO! I'm not a monster! I swear! I'm not evil!
Arthur: I know. Human, bird or familiar, or whatever, you're a good person. Well, a good being. Nothing is going to change that and nothing is going to happen to you, alright?
Merlin: (calms down) alright (snifs)
Arthur: But we need you to remember. Do you have any memory of you being anything but a bird?
Merlin: No, I've always been a bird. Although... (thoughtful) I don't... remember being a chick before.
Arthur: A what?!
Gaius: He means a baby bird.
Arthur: Oh, right (blushes). I knew that.
Merlin: Yeah, my very first memory is just before I came to Camelot, when... I was trap in a... cage. (he trembles at the memory) There were humans with capes, I think. They said they wanted to... control me, to had me at their mercy. I don't know what they wanted to do with me but I escaped. I thought I wouldn't make it. (with tears in his eyes) I was.. so scared.
Gaius: They must be the sorcerers that summonded you.
Merlin: Great. So not only I'm some magical entity but I'm sorcerer's slave now?
Arthur: (fiercely) You are NOT a slave! You are... ("mine" he is about to say, but stops) your own.
Merlin: (suddenly scared) What if they look for me?!
Arthur: I won't let them take you. I promise.
Gaius: And I don't think you have to worry about being some sorcerer's slave, Merlin. If you were bonded to one, you wouldn't have been able to escape in the first place.
Merlin: That means... (hopeful) I'm free?
Gaius: And in Camelot where magic is forbidden, so you're safer as you can be. You'll just have to keep pretending you're a bird, if that's not a problem with you.
Merlin: I'm completly fine with that.
Arthur: (joyful) And me! (composes himself) I mean, I like him better when he can't talk. (Merlin frowns at him)
Times goes by. At first, Merlin stays in his bird form and tries not to do magic, because, apparently he's been doing magic all this time without knowing (honestly, how was he supposed to know all the things he accidentally broke or dirt in Arthur's room were repaired and cleaned by him? He just thought Arthur has very efficient servants!). But it becomes impossible, not only because not doing magic makes him sick, but Arthur keeps running into danger time and time again, so he has to use magic to protect him. Arthur scolds him everytime he does that, he doesn't want his friend to be discover, but eventually it becomes rutine. Also, Merlin starts to take his human form more and more frecuently, because he needs Arthur to understand him, sometimes to give him a piece of his mind, to warn of some danger he finds out, or simply to cheer him up when he's sad or pass time.
Merlin: Is magic really evil? (he looks at his hands)It doesn't feel evil when I use it.
Arthur: How does it feel to you?
Merlin: It feels like... flying (he smiles and closes his eyes) So natural and beautiful, like the earth under my feet and the wind moving my feathers. And I feel it everywhere, not just inside me, but in every living thing. In every flower that blooms, every pup and chick that is born. Even in you. It's suppose to corrupt you, but instead of feeling wrong, I feel so good and... so alive.
Arthur: (looks at him for a moment, completely in love and then composes himself) I don't believe magic is evil. Not anymore.
Merlin: (open his eyes, surprised) Why's that?
Arthur: At first I thought you were an exception to the rule, but then Morgana-
Merlin: (even more surprised) She told you?!
Arthur: (just as surprised) You knew?!
Merlin: I could feel the magic inside her (he admits, guiltily). I wanted to be wrong. She's one of the kindest human I know, but then I saw her doing magic and... I just couldn't tell you. It wasn't my secret to tell, I'm sorry.
Arthur: It's alright. I understand. (he sighs) She was... so scared, Merlin. She begged not to tell my father, like I could ever do that (he laughs dryly). And she didn't learn magic, she just have it. She didn't even know she was a sorcerer until recently.
Merlin: Oh... (thoughtful) That explains a lot of things.
Arthur: What do you mean?
Merlin: Morgana isn't the only one, I think. Sometimes I fly around and I feel people with magic inside them. Some of them are evil, so I call you, but there are others that just do minor stuff, like healing spells and potions. But there are other too that… don't do magic at all and yet… the magic inside them is so strong. I thought maybe I was seing the potential of magic, but now…
Arthur: (in heavy realisation) So it's true. My father's been killing innocent people all this time.(with tears rolling down his eyes) I've been killing innocent people all this time.
Merlin: (hugging and comforting him) No! Arthur you did nothing wrong. You didn't know.
Arthur: (crying and hugging tightly in return) I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!
Aaaand that's it. I don't know what else could happen. Apart of merthur getting together obviously. There would be a lot of pinning and confused feelings. Arthur first meets Merlin as a bird after all, so accepting he has a crush on his bird friend is not going to be easy. The same goes to Merlin. Lets not talk about when they both discover they're bonded and Arthur could technically control Merlin and use Merlin's magic at his will if he wanted. And I guess at some point the evil sorceress/druids would try to get Merlin back. And then Merlin finding out he was human before and has a mother in ealdor… Damn that's a lot of angst.
Anyways, I still have a couple of fics on going so I don't think I'm going to write this anytime soon... or ever. So if anyone wants to write it feel free to do it. Or just comment any ideas you have for this concept/prompt below so I can keep them in mind if I write it in the end.
EDIT: I DID A PART 2, GUYS!!! -> LINK

middlebrooks is really smart like clearly knows what he's talking about he LOVES the sox you know like he's got that little bit of homer in him but is still able to acknowledge how good other teams and players are he knows the league and he's personable? might be the word idk like it's always an engaging broadcast when he's on if that makes sense
merloni is a lot like middlebrooks but he gets a little too self depreciating at times for me on the broadcast i don't really listen to games on the radio so i don't know of he's like that there also but it's just off putting to me
millar is like way too stream of consciousness in his pxp he just rambles and rambles and rambles so it can get super annoying and he can say stupid ass shit

"Spogliare la Grecia è stato uno scherzo.
Aeroporti, qualche isola, industrie zero, terre poche, risparmi privati ridicoli, demanio interessante.
Se ne sono andate TIM, TELECOM, GIUGIARO, PININ FARINA, PERNIGOTTI, BUITONI, ALGIDA, GUCCI, VALENTINO, LORO PIANA, AGNESI, DUCATI, MAGNETI MARELLI, ITALCEMENTI, PARMALAT, GALBANI, LOCATELLI, INVERNIZZI, FERRETTI YACHT, KRIZIA, BULGARI, POMELLATO, BRIONI, VALENTINO, FERRE’, LA RINASCENTE, POLTRONA FRAU, EDISON, SARAS, WIND, ANSALDO, FIAT FERROVIARIA, TIBB, ALITALIA, MERLONI, CARTIERE DI FABRIANO, .....
ORA VOGLIONO QUELLI.
Ora tocca a noi.
BISOGNA FERMARLI ORA.
Ogni generazione ha il suo Piave. Questo è il nostro."

I've seen some people say that the rise of the far right in many countries is to do with trump, when in actual fact it's to do with the brexit vote in the U.K. The man behind it Nigel farage has close ties with trump who endorsed him. Trump himself had a Scottish mother and a father of European ancestry - when he talked about making America great again, it was clearly stemming from how America is a country built on white supremacy from Britain and other European countries many years ago.
Britain tried and somewhat successfully to portray itself as a reformed democratic country inclusive for all, just like America did, despite the fact both of them occupy other countries illegally. When 9/11 happened though, they illegally invaded and committed genocides in the middle east under the false guise of 'democracy' which gave rise to far right sentiments being more popular and a high refugee crisis. Particularly in Britain which has led to the conservatives who are only becoming more far right come into power and thus brexit happening. And the success of that and the collaboration of the people behind it with trump to let him come into power.
In all honesty, the far right have always been in Europe and never gone away, but they were treated as a minority not to worry about and not representative of the countries, rather than dealing with those problems. Thus the far right became smarter in how they talked because of this and more emboldened and that's why now we see the likes of merloni and now wilders in power and also the likes of modi and bolsonaro in power in other parts of the world.
The far right now becoming the dominant parties isn't surprising but just something waiting to happen from countries refusing to acknowledge the atrocities of their past so they can portray themselves as the beacons of 'democracy' and 'civilised' to the rest of the world

Post-AGT Appearance 1249: The Greg Hill Show WEEI fm 93.7 May 19
I honestly thought that an earlier chapter was on The Doug Gottlieb Show.  It might have been but I can’t prove it.  The real me has been quite poor the last 9 years.  I was writing down each new chapter in the middle of an old notebook.  The pages going forward met used pages going backwards.  It was a couple years before I bought a new notebook.  One page in the middle was not connected and is now missing, maybe destroyed.  Gottlieb is on the Fox Sports radio Network, about 400 stations including WSBM am 1340.
My agent would have decided I needed to do at least one more interview about basketball, and on a Boston station.  Boston lost game one Wednesday and he would decide it should be before game 2, Friday morning. Glenn Ordway retired and Lou Merloni left WEEI fm 93.7, so I would have ended up on The Greg Hill Show.  He is on 6 to 10 am eastern time, accompanied by Jermaine Wiggins.  I would be on in the third hour.
Hill: Welcome back to the Greg Hill Show.  I’m Greg hill, accompanied by Jermaine Wiggins, joining us now on the phone is Phil Cole of Phillip and Cole’s Variety Team.  Phil how are you?
PBC: Doing well, sir.
Wiggins: No need to be formal.
Hill: This is my sidekick Jermaine Wiggins.
PBC: Honored.
Wiggins: Whatapp.
PBC: Sigh.
Hill: Where are you this early morning?
PBC: I’m at the Oregon house, overseeing some construction.
Wiggins: Building a wall?
PBC: Yes, can’t be too careful anymore ha ha.
Hill: Well Phil, you went on record as saying you pick the Celtics to win it all this year.
PBC: Yes I did.
Hill: What prompted you to make it public?
PBC: I was doing an interview and it just slipped out.
Hill: Any regrets?
PBC: Yes.
Wiggins: Because they lost the first game to the Heat?
PBC: No, because I have to do more interviews to justify my prediction.
Hill: We know you’ve done this before with predictions about the weather and blue state-red state matchups.  Is there anything mystical about this?
PBC: No, I heard the Celtics got off to a record breaking start and figured they’d win.
Hill: That was the Bruins, and it didn’t help much.
PBC: I had a feeling that wouldn’t be enough.  Anyway those Canadiens of the 70s were just unstoppable and I don’t think there’s a team like that anymore.
Hill: No.
PBC: Shootouts don’t count anyways.  That’s not hockey.
Wiggins: Did you like it the old days with all those ties?
PBC: I didn’t like teams like the Blackhawks who played for a tie.  Still a tie is honest.  Now players can practice for one on ones.  It’s like the 3 pointer: exciting yes, but it’s ruined basketball.
Hill: Ha ha.
PBC: Do teams still use centers?
Wiggins: I hear ya.
Hill: Phil, the Celtics lost game one against the Heat Wednesday.
PBC: So I heard.
Hill: Do you change your predictions?
PBC: No, not til it’s over.  After a comeback like that you sometimes have a letdown.
Hill: You think they’ll come right back tonight?
PBC: You can’t count on 2 big comebacks in a row.  Besides, it’s not even the finals.
Wiggins: What about out west; you got any feelings about the Lakers and the Nuggets.
PBC: The nougat is the best part of a Milky Way Bar.
Hill: Ha ha ha ha ha.
Wiggins: Is there nougat in a Milky Way Bar?
PBC: You know ...Jermaine...answers like that are the reason I didn’t go into comedy until I was over 50.
Hill: Ha hahahaha.
PBC: I love it when they laugh and it’s absolutely true.
Hill: ha ha ha.
Wiggins: (Overlapping) Well, Phil, my friend’s cracking up here, so thanks for joining us.
PBC: Good, so long.
Wiggins: We’ll be right back on the Greg Hill Show.

Indesit washing machines have a significant market share in the UK, but many are unaware of the brand's origins and ownership. Originally an Italian company founded in 1953, Indesit was later acquired by Merloni Elettrodomestici SpA in 1987 before being purchased by Hotpoint in 2001.
In 2014, Whirlpool bought 60% of the Indesit brand, and in 2023, Whirlpool merged its European appliance operations with Turkish corporation Arçelik, which owns brands like Beko and Grundig. This new merged entity, with Arçelik owning 75% and Whirlpool 25%, encompasses over 20 brands, including Indesit, Hotpoint, and Whirlpool itself.
While some Indesit machines are still produced in Italy, manufacturing now spans multiple European countries like the UK, Russia, Turkey, and Poland. Despite changes in ownership, the Indesit brand maintains its identity and market presence in the UK.

An X-ray image of half the universe - Technology Org
X-ray astronomy has an eventful 60-year history of exploring the extremes of the universe, from exploding stars to active galactic nuclei, which, with their supermassive black holes, are arguably the most efficient energy sources in the universe. While most X-ray telescopes were built to take a closer look at such phenomena, eRosita looks at the bigger picture. These include the largest structures in the universe and filaments of hot gas that connect powerful clusters of galaxies and could answer the biggest questions: how did the universe evolve, and why is it expanding?

The German eRosita consortium has today published its share of the data collected by the eRosita X-ray telescope on board the Spektrum-RG satellite during the first all-sky survey. The first eRosita All-Sky Survey Catalogue (eRASS1) is the largest collection of X-ray sources ever published, with around 900,000 individual sources. Along with the data, the consortium is publishing a series of scientific papers on new findings ranging from planetary habitability studies to the discovery of the largest cosmic structures. In the first six months of observation, eRosita has already discovered more X-ray sources than have been known in the 60-year history of X-ray astronomy. The data is available to the global scientific community.
More than 700.000 supermassive black holes
The eRASS1 observations with the eROSITA telescope were carried out from 12 December 2019 to 11 June 2020. The data published here cover half of the entire sky, the data share of the German eROSITA consortium. In the most sensitive energy range of the eROSITA detectors (0.2-2 keV), the telescope detected 170 million X-ray photons – a record number. In X-ray astronomy, it is possible to measure individual particles of light (photons) with their respective energy in the X-ray spectrum and their arrival time in the detector. The catalogue was then constructed – after careful processing and calibration – by detecting concentrations of photons in the sky against a bright, large-scale, diffuse background. After eRASS1, eROSITA has continued scanning the sky and accumulated several additional all-sky surveys. Those data will also be released to the world in the coming years.
The 900,000 sources include around 710 000 supermassive black holes in distant galaxies (active galactic nuclei), 180.000 X-ray emitting stars in our own Milky Way, 12.000 clusters of galaxies, plus a small number of other exotic classes of sources like X-ray emitting binary stars, supernova remnants, pulsars, and other objects. “These are mind-blowing numbers for X-ray astronomy,” says Andrea Merloni, eROSITA principal investigator and first author of the eROSITA catalogue paper. “We’ve detected more sources in 6 months than the big flagship missions XMM-Newton and Chandra have done in nearly 25 years of operation.”
Can X-rays from stars make planets uninhabitable?
Co-ordinated with the release, the German eROSITA Consortium has submitted almost 50 new scientific publications to peer-reviewed journals, adding to the more than 200 which had already been published by the team before the data release. Most of the new papers appear today with selected discoveries including: more than 1000 superclusters of galaxies, the giant filament of pristine warm-hot gas extending between two galaxy clusters and two new ‘Quasi-Periodically Erupting’ black holes. Further studies of how X-ray irradiation from a star may affect the atmosphere and water retention of orbiting planets, and statistical analysis of flickering supermassive black holes .
“The scientific breadth and impact of the survey is quite overwhelming; it’s hard to put into a few words,” says Mara Salvato, who as spokesperson for the German eROSITA consortium co-ordinates the efforts of about 250 scientists organised into 12 working groups. “But the papers published by the team will speak for themselves.”
This first eRASS data release (DR1) makes public not only the source catalogue, but images of the X-ray sky at multiple X-ray energies and even lists of the individual photons with their sky positions, energies and precise arrival times. The software needed to analyse the eROSITA data is also included in the release. For many source classes, supplementary data from other wavebands has also been incorporated into so-called “value-added” catalogues that go beyond pure X-ray information. “We’ve made a huge effort to release high-quality data and software,” added Miriam Ramos-Ceja, who leads the eROSITA Operations team. “We hope this will broaden the base of scientists worldwide working with high-energy data and help push the frontiers of X-ray astronomy.”
“The eROSITA collaboration has done an outstanding job with the data release and at the same time publishing all of these amazing new results,” says Kirpal Nandra, Director at MPE. “There’s a lot more to come from us, and were looking forward to seeing what the rest of the world will do with the public data.”
Keen eROSITA-watchers may know that the driving scientific objective that motivated the telescope was to constrain cosmological models using clusters of galaxies. The cosmology results, based on an in-depth analysis of the eRASS1 clusters, will be released in approximately two weeks. Watch this space!

Additional Information
eROSITA is the soft X-ray instrument aboard Spektrum-RG (SRG), a joint Russian-German science mission supported by the Russian Space Agency (Roskosmos), in the interests of the Russian Academy of Sciences represented by its Space Research Institute (IKI), and the German Space Agency at DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt). The SRG spacecraft was built by Lavochkin Association (NPOL) and its subcontractors, and is operated by NPOL with support from the Max-Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE).
The telescope was launched into space onboard the SRG mission on July 13, 2019. Its large collecting area and wide field of view are designed to perform to a deep all-sky survey in the X-ray band. Over the course of six months (December 2019 to June 2020), SRG/eROSITA completed the first survey of the whole sky at energies 0.2-8 keV, which is significantly deeper than the only existing all-sky survey with an X-ray imaging telescope, performed by ROSAT in 1990 at energies 0.1-2.4 keV. Three more scans of the entire sky were completed between June 2020 and February 2022.
The German eROSITA Consortium is led by the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE), and includes the Dr. Karl Remeis Observatory Bamberg, the University of Hamburg Observatory, the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP), and the Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics of the University of Tübingen, with the support of DLR and the Max Planck Society. The Argelander Institute for Astronomy of the University of Bonn and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich also participate in the science exploitation of eROSITA as associated institutes. The eROSITA data are processed using the eSASS software system developed by the German eROSITA consortium.
eROSITA has been placed in Safe Mode in February 2022, and has not restarted science operations since.
