Birthday :Laughter
It was just exactly what his fantasy was like when he fought the snow woman. Gray remembered that vanity space of juvia and the book shelf near his nightstand. Photos hung above the bed. Even though it was different.
There wasn’t ur or ultear or his father but they were replaced with the living. There were his and juvia wedding pictures, juvia and their children, lyon and meredy and their children and lastly the fairy tail guild and friends hung on across the walls.
it was his birthday today. How much life and years went by. He was going to turn another year older than last year. Gray chuckled a bit that he was sounding like an old man.
The thick wooden door. Until he heard some click noise as the door slowly opened . The sight of juvia opening the door. she had a golden smile as her eyelashes slowly opened to see. Then her eyes came to a surprise. She spoke very softly “oh gray sama, did I awaken you”?
Gray shook his head and said I was awake five minutes ago. He was getting ready to get out of bed. Juvia quickly hug him and said happy birthday darling as she whispered into his ear. Gray felt his heart just skip and smile. He felt more content with his life as he pulled juvia into a gentle kiss and said thank you.
Juvia said gray sama after breakfast. Our friends are planning to celebrate your birthday this afternoon with the guild. Gray smiled said okay. Then he heard two stomping and giggling sounds behind the door. Gray and juvia smiled at each other knowing what's going to come.
two children busted through the door of their bedroom. One was just exactly a copy edolas Greige which it was ordained, that his name is greige. Then the small one was like a mini juvia named Mika. they both came running to jump on gray yelling happy birthday daddy!!! These children were excited or maybe they were more excited to have cake for breakfast as he chuckled a bit.
He said thank you kids as he hugged them back.
He finally got out of bed. Then he proceeded to follow along their children down the hall. Their children ran toward Meredy and Lyon kids. Juvia was walking beside him until the wide space of the house. Gray sees Lyon placing a banner across the wall. Meredy was in the kitchen bringing out the plates and cups.
Lyon laughed and said man I thought you're going to sleep all day as he saw gray. Gray felt a nerve struck just hearing him. While Juvia could only smile as she sneaked away toward meredy. Lyon stopped what he was doing. He walked toward Gray to give him a hug. Lyon said happy birthday like an older brother.
Meredy came out of the kitchen and wished Gray a happy birthday as she helped Juvia take out the food from the stove and oven. They placed them on the table. their children could smell the aroma. Lyon and Meredy have two children. The oldest daughter is named ul and the youngest son rybon. Gray and Lyon called everyone to come to sit down.
The children placed a party hat on their head. then kids reached noise blowers. They made sounds every chance they got. Meredy and juvia sat down.
They began to eat Lyon and gray converse on a topic. Meredy spoke to juvia about the concern of control magic toward their kids. the kids spoke about “ what would they play next after eating some cake. Gray saw the people around him. His thought “ It wasn’t exactly the dream he had but it was damn close.
Juvia brought out the chocolate strawberry cake. They sang a song and he looked at juvia laughter and cheerfulness. He couldn't contain his laughter as they celebrated his birthday. It wasn’t the people he wished had been here but the people who were present. It is ..truly a wonderful gift.

A/N- Hey anon! Sorry for the delay. I had some issues with AO3 so I’m just re uploading here ❤️ I hope you enjoy! Also I’m so sorry if these aren’t that great- this was quite challenging to write.
Hey anon! Yes I can do this for you. I will post it to ao3 and share it here for those who would prefer a CW for this. I’ll send an update once it’s live ❤️
CW for angst/ sad past; implied previous child abuse. Please DNI if these bother you.
Tumblr media
Princess Hisui-
As a new adoptive mother, Hisui spends some time with her daughter trying to get to know her a bit more.
Her daughter constantly wanted to be held, crying the second Hisui put her down. She began to wonder if she was doing something wrong. Eventually, she pulled Arcadios aside to ask what she should do. It was there that Arcadios revealed her new daughter’s horrific past. She vowed to do everything in her power to make sure each day shined a bit brighter for her.
During the day, Hisui would take the child to the gardens, watching her take in the world around her. It pains Hisui to watch her daughter struggle with accepting the world to be better than it was.
The child eventually returns to Hisui’s side and clutches at her leg, leaving the princess feeling lost and helpless.
Flare Corona-
Flare’s adopted son had come to her in a roundabout way. She’d never intended on becoming a mother, but one day stumbled upon a desecrated village, with the young child clinging to his lifeless mothers body. She couldn’t just leave the boy alone, so she took him with her back to sun village.
The first few weeks were pure hell, for the both of them. He boy cried all night, afraid to fall asleep and relive the horrors of his past, and Flare got little to no sleep because she stayed up trying to comfort the child. Her friends in the village helped take shifts so she could rest in between bouts of crying.
Flare noticed that one way to soothe the boy was gently playing with his hair. She spent the next few nights gently stroking his soft hair, until his cries dimmed and his snores steadied. She’d curled up next to him, cradling him in her arms. “It’s okay, little one. You’re safe now, and will be for as long as I’m alive.” They slept soundly for the first time.
Flare occasionally will take her son around the outskirts of the village, teaching him about the different flowers she liked to braid into her hair. He’d clutch onto her dress while she sat, braiding her red strands filled with different flora and humming a gentle tune. She knew it was going to be an uphill battle for a while, but she wasn’t a quitter. This boy would have a better life if she had any say.
Meredy-
When it came to pain and suffering, Meredy was a master. Her life up until she met Ultear had been filled with it. That’s why, when she met a little girl whose life was impacted so greatly, she couldn’t walk away.
Meredy would sit beside the child, tears streaming down her face as she slept, and gently rubbed her thumb across the girls forehead. After all, Ultear had done the same thing for her. Meredy would long for her mother figure, wishing she could ask her how to navigate this chapter.
Jellal was no help, always muttering about liabilities and darkness, but Meredy paid no mind. The child would only respond to her anyway. Most days, she’d tell her daughter stories about when she was a child in Grimoire Heart with Ultear, and how she’d saved her too.
Over time, the young girl opened up about what had happened to her family. Meredy cried all night in secret, distraught at the pain the poor thing had faced. She eventually decided to perform maguilty sense- so the child could finally feel peace and love. She created the soul bond, and woke the girl up with a soft hug, allowing her love to fill the child from the inside out.

Jerik Headcanons
For Anonymous
They got married on July 2nd
This is because July 2nd, is the midpoint between their birthdays
Jellal’s birthday is March 2nd
Erik’s birthday is November 2nd
They got married by Porlyusica
The only ones in attendance were Crime Sorciére
Meredy was the “flower girl”
Meaning she grabbed a handful of wild flowers and scattered the petals around
The only ones who got seriously dressed up was Sorano and Macbeth
But that’s because they always are slaying
Erza got quite upset that she wasn’t invited
But, she understood that they needed their privacy

; Midnight Pie and Baby Names
"What's the matter?" he asked softly as he approached her. He saw a piece of her cake on a book's page, piece that she quickly ate before wiping the paper. "Still looking for baby names?"
"Yes and of course you're not helping," she spat. He chuckled lightly and saw how she glared at him, which made the scene even funnier. She was cute, he thought.
Just Erza and Jellal having a normal life and some cute disagreements
You can also read it on AO3 | Words: 1,545
It was almost midnight when Jellal heard his wife sigh heavily in the kitchen. He had been walking around in the living room with their toddler in his arms, rocking him to help him fall asleep. The little lad got a cold a week ago and seemed unable to sleep at a reasonable hour.
He joined Erza with a tender smile. He'd recognize this sigh anywhere. The sigh of a very tired and frustrated woman, which was understandable when you were pregnant. It had been six months already and he knew that her crankiness was due to back pains and other pregnancy's symptoms. He couldn't blame her, not after the time Meredy made them a sensory link, three years ago, during Robert's last months. It really was horrible.
"Well, excuse me. You seem to forget that Robbie still has his cold and a hard time falling asleep."
"I know, sorry..." She took a bite of her dessert with another sigh. Even at midnight, six months pregnant, tired and eating cake as a stress relief, she was the most beautiful person he ever met. "Mfh. But it was the exact same thing last time. Why can't we find the perfect name as soon as we start looking for one? And you're supposed to be good at finding names!"
"Do you want our future child to be called Scarlet?" he joked. She looked at him while trying to hide her smile. She failed and he grinned like a teenager.
"No. But you're the one who got the idea for Robert."
"That's true." He sat at the table, being careful not to wake up their son who seemed finally asleep. Erza wore a serious face as soon as she saw his little red nose. She was worried, he knew, she always was when it came to him.
"How's his fever?"
"Alright, better than this afternoon." Her features softened. "I shouldn't have forgotten his scarf last time."
"It happens, Jellal. And you know how excited he was to go see Meredy."
She knew how close he was to his aunt. Meredy might have the same age as her, she still viewed her as a little sister thanks to the bond she had with Jellal. Robert loved the woman. He called her auntie Mery and always ran after her when she was present. Sometimes Erza even felt jealous. After all, she loved being the center of their attention, the two men of her life, the ones she loved the most. Jellal's smile was the softest when he looked at their son and she felt like falling in love once more everytime she catched it. Robert was a blessing and she'd do anything for his happiness.
"He's lucky to have such caring relatives," she said, thinking of her husband's soft smile.
"He is." He gazed at the books covering their table. "Do you have any hunch this time? Is it going to be a girl or a boy?"
"Mmh. I'm not sure. Maybe we're going to have the daughter you dream of?"
"Hah, Robbie proved me wrong." He stroked his son forehead. "I don't really care anymore. I'll be happy either way."
"All I want is for the next one to look a little more like you." He choked.
"Are you kidding me? Milliana and Sho keep saying he's the spitting image of me when I was younger."
"That's the short hair and the fact that he's a boy."
"He has my grin. My eyes too."
"Okay, yes. He does look like you a lot, even if he has my nose and–" She exhaled. "It's not a competition anyway. I just think that a little blue-haired baby would complete our family."
"If you say so. I prefer your pretty hair."
"As if I don't know that already," she chuckled, "But I'm telling you, our family won't be complete until we have a blue-haired baby. I'm determined."
"Erza... If this one has red hair too, you'll continue until you have what you want? We'll end up with an army of kids."
"It's going to be blue."
"Is it another hunch? Or just you being stubborn?"
She smirked at him. "I'm not being stubborn, I'm right." She finished her cake with a content sigh.
"I would love to go fetch you another piece, but I have our little buddy over here."
"A gentleman, that's what you are." Erza stood with her plate, kissing his temple on her way to the fridge. "I'm taking a piece of your pie."
"You like it in the end?" He wasn't the best cook but Jellal was proud of this pie. Sadly, Erza told him this afternoon that 'he could improve'. Only his son loved it and it's probably just because he liked apples the best. So hearing her taking another piece felt like a reward.
"Of course." A beat. "And tomorrow is sunday so the bakery will be closed. I won't be able to buy another strawberry cake if I finish this one."
Jellal laughed. "You make it sound like eating my pie is a last resort."
"It kinda is...?" She giggled and came back to the table. Sitting down, she was met by two sleepy hazel eyes. "Hey there, Robbie. Did we wake you up?"
Both parents looked at their son who started to cough a little. "Does your throat hurt?" asked his father.
The boy shook his head, stretching. He sat a little better on his dad's lap and pointed at the pie. "Please," he mumbled with a tiny voice.
Erza started to laugh rather loudly. He really was her son, to wake up at the smell of a dessert. "It's a little late for that, don't you think?"
"Nuh-uh. Mama can."
"So Robbie can too," added Jellal.
"Alright, alright. We'll share." Erza ruffled his hair as he giggled. She took a piece and turned to him. "Say 'ah', dear."
Jellal watched them eat and felt grateful. Because he had a wonderful wife, an awesome son and a future child who will be as fantastic as the two others. It had been a long way to get here but he did it. And Robert's birth proved him– with his and Erza's wedding– that it was possible to be happy in the end. It was in moments as simple as this one that he understood his new role. He needed to protect this family. His family. That's what he wanted to do and that's what he was going to do. To be a great husband, father, friend and mage.
"Papa! Say 'aaah'!"
Erza was offering him a piece of pie and Robert looked at him as if he was the most incredible person on Earth. And while he ate his own cooking, he couldn't help but think that maybe he was. Even if it was just to them.
"By the way, Robbie, we're searching for a name. For your sibling. Do you have any idea?"
The boy turned to Erza and seemed in deep thoughts. The two mages smiled and exchanged a knowing glance. He probably didn't understand such a difficult question.
"Uuuh. Baby."
"Baby is not a name, dear," Erza huffed, "But you know, Papa and Mama have a hard time finding a good name too."
"Mhmh. We're not very good at this."
"It'okay," grinned the kid, quickly stopped by a yawn. "Baby not here..."
"Right, the baby is not here yet." Erza put a hand on her belly, caressing it gently. "We still have time."
Jellal started to rock the child again and saw him smile tiredly. His wife reached for her son's cheek, stroking it with tenderness. After a while she started humming and he could feel the little one relax in his arms.
"Sami," Robert whispered, looking at his mother. "Little knight..."
"Do you want us to read Sami the Little Knight?" she proposed.
"Nuh... baby Sami..."
"For the baby?"
He nodded and finally closed his eyes, sucking on his thumb. Jellal watched his wife musing the idea.
"What do you think?" he murmured.
"It's cute. And I think Robbie would be upset if we didn't keep it."
"Right. I do like the name."
"It's so different from his, though."
"Are we trying to match them?"
"Not really." She put her hand on his. He took it and she closed her eyes. "Sami the Little Knight. He's a little boy in the book."
"He reminds me of you. A boy who wields a sword to help his friends."
"It's another boy, Jellal, I'm sure. We're having another boy." He kissed her softly and she responded with love. Their forehead touched and they stayed like this, feeling each other's warmth, listening to their son's calm breathing. "You have no idea how happy I am."
"To have another boy?"
"To build this family with you."
He grinned and she laughed. For once, he was right. Robert had his grin.
AN: Picking a good name is difficult. A big part of the fandom seems to like Erza and Jellal naming their child Simon and... I don't really. I love the name but I don't think it would be good for them. Robert was Jellal's idea, a tribute to Rob. I'm pretty sure they proposed Simon at some point but decided that it was better not to name their son after him. Also, I feel like Kagura should be the one to do so IF she has a kid (and I don't see her wanting kids). As for Sami, I just really like the idea of them choosing a name with arabic origins, just like Jellal's name. I also suppose Erza's name is a variation of Elsa, which is germanic, just like Robert. So I find it fitting, matching their parents. And yes, Jellal would love a daughter. He looks like a guy who wants a little princess, but you know what? Life is always hard on him.
If there is a couple that I always picture with only daughters, it's nalu! I'm starting to have ideas for a next generation fic but knowing me, it'll stay in my mind for some time and I'll never write it :')

•someone requested Graytear with a huge sprinkle of angst. I ended up writing this AU, but idk if its enough angst, so I am not posting it as a reply to the person, but posting it on its own!•
•AU where Ultear is in Tartaros and Gray has his devil slayer magic - but she’s how she was around her Lost Ages scene, with not knowing her own worth or self, or if she was good or evil. so there’s unrequited love, back and forth bickering, and the whole “You’re a devil slayer, im a devil, come kill me” kinda???•
•AU: Devil & Devil Slayer•     •Ship: Graytear•
After meeting and facing his father, Gray really shouldn’t be surprised anymore. He understands Sabertooth’s shock at meeting their old master and his daughter, he sees Juvia’s pain for defeating the necromancer who had used his father, but - nothing, none of it, could have prepared him for this. But, here she is, Ultear standing in front of him. She’s different, somehow, and yet still reminds him of that same person he’d met on Tenroujima - broken, alone, just her and the world. Like a shell of a person, who can’t figure out their own self or worth.
“Huh. I wonder what your mother would think of this?” He sighs, gesturing to her fingertips stained black, the horns atop her head, one broken and dripping a dark ink. “Really, now... you can come back home with us. Let’s go back to Fairy Tail, or Crime Sorcière.”
“Hah!” Ultear laughs, pulling a floating orb towards her, “Back home? Don’t you get it?! I can’t go back now!” She throws it towards him, but it smashes against his ice shield, the separate parts flying back to her to reform. “I can’t... I can’t go back now.” She laughs weaker, voice gone soft. There’s no fight in her. No will, no want - no purpose. She stands here, empty, and still pushes herself to fight. For what? There’s nothing left, and she’d clearly left her guild for this.
“You still can. We don’t have to fight. I’ll bring you home to Jellal and Meredy, okay?” Gray knows he’s asking too much. He knows she won’t listen, or that she won’t even hear him. Still, his hope refuses to waver - not now, not ever. He’d always hope that she could recover from her past, that she could finally smile with friends, or even just stand by his side. He cared for her, after all. Maybe even loved her. And now, it all seems too late. Nothing could reach her, now.
“I told you.” She sighs, expression oddly blank. “There’s no use. I was ready to end someone’s life with these hands. I’m really still a witch who doesn’t think twice about murdering someone... something like that, I can’t come back from.” Something in the air shifts, and Gray watches in awe as her black-tipped fingers freeze over with frost, the ice spreading to the burnt trees around them, to the ground - frozen paths, all leading towards Gray. Underneath him, the ground grows, and he quickly dodges as where he once stood explodes, vines and flowers made of ice erupting.
“No, no, you can. You can come back.” Gray shouts, dodging the ice vines being thrown towards him. He jumps away from frozen flowers, and still, still, never attacks back. He knows she won’t stop, he knows she won’t give up. “Please. There’s people who care about you, who don’t want this for you.”
“Don’t you get it?” Ultear growls, summoning blocks of ice that bloom out towards Gray, trying to hit him. “I don’t deserve to live! You’re a devil slayer, aren’t you? Here I am, a devil, right in front of you! Fight back!”
She keeps attacking, never acknowledging the people around her, the ones who were there. Jellal, Meredy, Gray - they’re really frozen away in her memories, so she sees nothing else but the darkness. There’s no time to grieve. Ice vines keep growing around him, covered in purple thorns. Because even a beautiful rose has thorns.

Day 1: Home
It's been a while, but of course I couldn't miss Gruvia Week 2020.
Title: Back To You
Summary: 6 months. That's how long Juvia had to wait while Gray was infiltrating Avatar. There were moments when she worried, but always knew that he would come back home.
Pairings: Gruvia (Pregnant) + Lyredy
Timeline: Avatar Arc
Genre: Fluff + Angst
Word Count: 2000
Happy reading!
                      -----------------------------------------
                                      April X792
One month after Juvia had told him that she was pregnant, they were starting to get used to the idea of becoming parents.
She was glad that Gray seemed much happier after they had many conversations addressing his fear of not being a good father and of something happening to her or the baby.
She had understood because they were her fears too. However, she told him that they needed to focus on the positive or else they could never be the parents that this child needed.
Gray had known she was right. They couldn't focus on the darkness when the light was right there, growing inside her. Their child, their new beginning.
Juvia had convinced him to; for once in his life; live in the present and enjoy their time together before the baby came.
Unfortunately, they were forced to be apart after he received news of an important mission.
Juvia woke to find his side of the bed empty; which was surprising considering at such an early hour. Jumping out of bed, she put on a bathrobe and went downstairs.
Gray was in the kitchen; his back turned to her; making pancakes. She watched him in surprise for a few moments until he turned around.
"Good morning." He greeted her with a tense smile.
"Good morning, my love." Juvia immediately noticed that something wasn't right. "What's wrong?"
Avoiding answering, Gray backed up a chair. "Why don't you sit down?"
She frowned, but complied. "Alright."
He went back to the stove and turned it off before taking the pan and walking back to the table. Not a word was said while he placed one pancake in the plate in front of her and another for himself.
"So, what's the occasion?" Juvia jokingly asked after he sat down in front of her.
"Juvia...there's something I need to tell you."
"What is it, my love?" She reached for his hand and held it.
"I got a call last night, from Erza."
"Oh. What did she say?" Juvia was curious. They hadn't spoken to anyone from Fairy Tail since the guild had been disbanded.
Gray squeezed her hand. "She told me about this dark guild, Avatar. They have been unusually active lately; recruiting many new members."
"It's good of Erza to warn us, but why…." He interrupted her.
"Jellal told her that he's worried they might make a move soon. So she wants me to infiltrate Avatar and figure out what their plan is."
"Infiltrate?" Juvia frowned and dropped his hand. "And why you?"
"Because of my demon slaying magic." Gray answered. "Jellal thinks this plus the black markings might be enough to convince them I've turned evil or something."
"Well, if you're going to Avatar then I…." About to suggest she tag along, Juvia suddenly remembered.
"You can't." Gray moved his chair closer to hers before placing a hand on her stomach. "It's too dangerous for the baby."
"And I can't use magic either." She sighed.
"I know I promised I wouldn't leave you, but this mission is important." Looking into his eyes, she could tell he was still conflicted. "If we don't figure out what they're planning, many people could die."
There was silence for a few moments before Juvia spoke. "I understand."
"Look, it shouldn't take longer than a month, okay?" Gray leaned in to press a soft kiss against her lips. "I'll be back before you know it."
                  -----------------------------------------
                                 Late May X792
A month passed but Gray did not yet return to her. Per his request, Juvia had been staying at Lamia Scale where the couple believed would be safe for her and the baby.
Being at the guild certainly helped her feel better after his departure since she had Lyon, Wendy and Chelia to keep her company.
Even Meredy had come to the guild a few weeks before to keep an eye on her though Juvia suspected her reason to stay was actually the handsome ice mage. Those two had become very close and many guild members suspected they were dating.
Though happy for her friend, seeing Lyon and Meredy connect only made Juvia miss her own boyfriend even more. She had hoped they would be reunited by now, but apparently his mission was not over yet.
"He'll be back soon." Wendy came to find her sitting in the back garden.
"I'm starting to lose hope." Juvia admitted gloomily.
"No, you can't think like that." The younger girl sat beside her.
"He said he'd only be gone for one month." The water mage sighed. Feeling a kick, she placed a hand on her baby bump.
"Can I feel it too?" Wendy shyly asked after watching her for a moment.
Juvia nodded. "Of course." Taking Wendy's hand, she guided it towards the spot where the kicks were coming from.
"Whoa." Her eyes widened. "That's amazing."

                                  June X792
Juvia finally got to see him again. They met in the woods outside Marguerite and Gray voiced his worry that someone from Avatar might have followed him.
They were reassured by Jellal that this was not the case, but Crime Sorciére still stayed close by to ensure the couple's safety.
After talking about what had been happening recently, Gray apologised for being away for so long and Juvia easily forgave him. They moved in for a hug, but he was almost pushed back.
His eyes widened in surprise before descending towards her stomach. "Is that..."
"Yes." Juvia smiled softly. Then, she took his hand and led it towards the spot where the kick had come from. "Can you feel it?"
"Incredible." He murmured, mesmerised. Then his eyes rose to meet hers. "You are incredible."
Her smile brightened. "So are you, my love." They leaned in for a soft kiss and the baby kicked harder this time.
Pulling apart, Gray chuckled and returned his hand to her stomach. "I guess she wants our full attention."
"She?" Juvia raised a brow.
He shrugged. "It's just a feeling."
A smile lit up her face."I didn't know you were hoping for a girl."
Another kick. Gray looked at her curiously. "Well, what are you hoping for?"
"To be honest, I hope we have a boy." She answered dreamily. "Then he will be like you. A mini Gray."
He chuckled. "I figured you'd say that."
                 -----------------------------------------
                                July X792
Chelia finally asked the question everyone had been dying to know the answer to during Lyon's birthday party. Him and Meredy were acting too much like a couple and the young god slayer couldn't take it anymore.
After they had cut the cake and Lyon offered Meredy the first piece, Chelia looked at them in annoyance. "Can you two stop driving us crazy and just admit that you're dating?"
The couple shared confused looks. "I thought everyone knew."
"We did." Juvia said, smiling at them. "We just needed confirmation."
"Is this confirmation enough for you?" Lyon asked before snaking an arm around Meredy's waist, bringing her close, before leaning in for a passionate kiss that she gladly reciprocated.
"I suppose it is." Sherry smiled while leaning closer to her husband. Ren wrapped an arm around her shoulder while the other held their 5 months old daughter, Aimi.
"Wow." Wendy stared at them in amazement.
"It was about time." Chelia rolled her eyes.
"I'm so happy for them." Juvia watched the couple joyfully. Though tears threatened to fall once she remembered the time when her relationship with Gray had been like this, she pushed them away. "He'll be back soon."
                 -----------------------------------------
                              September X792
The next time she saw him, she was 8 and a half months pregnant. It was a few days after the Thanksgiving Festival when Lucy, Natsu and Happy had surprised everyone by showing up.
After catching up and discussing their plan to reunite Fairy Tail, they had left with Wendy to find Gray.
Though Juvia had felt bad about lying to them regarding his mission, she knew it was for the best. Should they arrive in Avatar, this could compromise his safety and ruin the entire plan.
With this in mind, the next few days were torture as Juvia waited and worried. The Lamia Scale members tried to distract her, but this time it was no use.
She was in the garden again-it had become her favourite spot-looking after Aimi since Sherry and Ren dropped her off at the guild before going on a mission. Hearing footsteps, she saw Lyon and Meredy approaching her.
"Hey." The latter offered a smile.
"How are you?" The former asked.
"Waiting." Juvia stressfully replied, keeping both hands on her stomach.
Now in front of her, Lyon sighed before sitting down. "We all are."
"I'm sure everything will be fine." Meredy reassured, sitting by his side.
"I really want to believe that." Tears began forming and this time Juvia didn't push them away.
Soon Aimi started crying too and the couple exchanged looks before Lyon carefully picked his goddaughter up and held her while Meredy moved closer to the water mage to hug her.
Though she wanted to comfort her friend, she knew that there was only one person who could make Juvia feel better now.
Almost like a miracle, the familiar voice was heard. "Juvia?"
She pulled away from Meredy's embrace and midnight blue eyes searched for him. Gray stood only a few feet away, surrounded by Lucy, Natsu, Erza, Gajeel, Levy and the exceeds. All were safe and sound.
"You're...here." Juvia sobbed. With Meredy's help she stood up and started approaching him.
However, due to her emotional state and enlarged stomach, she stumbled and would have fallen if Gray hadn't come just in time to help her.
"You're here." Her hands reached for his face, midnight blue eyes stared at him in disbelief.
He embraced her as best as possible when her stomach was between them. "I'm home."
Still crying, Juvia laughed and Gray wiped away some of her tears. It wasn't long before they were kissing, but once again the moment was interrupted by a kick.
Reluctantly pulling apart, their attention went to their unborn child. "Hey there, little one. How have you been?"
"She has missed you." Juvia smiled softly.
"She?" His eyes widened.
She nodded. "You were right."
A triumphant look came upon his face, but it quickly morphed into one of adoration. "I love you both so much."
They leaned in for another desperate kiss and everyone joyfully watched as they were reunited after so long. Then, Natsu turned to Lucy with a bright smile. "Soon we're all going to be home."
                      -----------------------------------------
I hope everyone is doing okay despite these crazy times that we are currently living. Coronavirus has affected so many of us and I hope everyday that this crisis will be over soon.
Until life returns to normal, though, we should really take this time to reflect about how we treat our planet and the people who live in it. I hope we can learn to become more empathetic, compassionate and loving.
It's about time we realise that only by caring about others will we be able to solve this crisis.

🌼🌼🌼
Hehehe… well, you asked for it…
(’It’ being Ultear meta.)
ULTEAR. UltearUltearUltearUltear fucking Ultear. Where do I even start?
She was, is and will always be the BEST character Fairy Tail has ever had; counting Gray, counting Erza, counting Natsu. Because Ultear changed. Ultear had more than a personality - she was a personality. She was a ‘round’ character in every sense of the word (and no, this is NOT an innuendo XD). See, the thing with FT is that Natsu, Gray, Lucy, Erza, Happy - they never change. Gray started out a cool, calm guy with a funny habit and he remained a cool, calm guy with a funny habit. He didn’t undergo any change, and that’s where Mashima fucked up. Because he went and made his side characters dynamic, and the main ones static.
But Ultear! This queen demanded her space in the tiny, flat role she was relegated to, and even then Mashima did her dirty. OHHHHHH did he do her dirty.
But let’s get there by starting with why Ultear is the perfect example of writing a good character.
First of all, Ultear had an interesting past.
She had a beautiful backstory, and she was powerful. And her past wasn’t the typical “I’m a poor little sad orphan” types - there were twists and turns she hadn’t known, which changes her character and brings her to this amazing redemption arc (will expand on this later).
She is the strong woman trope (alongside Erza, not counting Mira because Mira was degraded) that we’ve all wanted for so long.
Ultear dresses provocatively but is in NO WAY a femme fatale, unlike, say, Lucy, who does exploit her looks; and I’m not saying this is wrong at all, just pointing out how Ultear broke all the stereotypes of female anime villains.
Second, her powers. She’s OP as fuck and it’s amazing, really, and her powers are handled well. We need more OP girls who aren’t reduced to blushing sidekicks in anime, and Ultear was that for a while. (Until, you know, deus ex Mashima struck.)
Ultear has one of the most OP magics ever - the magic of Time itself.
She can LITERALLY MANIPULATE INANIMATE OBJECTS AND DECIDE THEIR FUTURE. And while it does come with some limitations, it’s still a very powerful magic.
BUT WAIT! That’s not all! Oh, no, Ultear has her mother’s magic, too. The Ice-Make Ur so loved was passed down to her daughter.
Ultear is said to have had an immense amount of Magic Power, and is incredibly skilled and talented.
She’s also an expert at Energy Manipulation, Possession Magic, Telepathy and a bunch of other things I’m too tired to Google XD
Third, she develops.
Her redemption arc was actually well handled, especially for a female villain.
Her bond with her mother, and her realisation that Ur really did love her, coupled with her platitudes to herself that all her crimes would be reversed in the New World, made her realistic.
Ultear was a broken and damaged and angry and mean woman, and she should’ve gotten more space to be mean and angry and broken, and to heal.
Ultear was redeemed in a very good way because her ‘never actually evil’ stuff was - A) the first of many to come in FT, so it was refreshing until Mashima overdid it, and
B) she had a reason to be angry.
She was hurt and mad and even then she didn’t want to hurt anyone. She was just looking for a way to make a new world, one where everyone could be happy.
Ultear is kind without being kind - she didn’t have to adopt Meredy. She didn’t have to feel guilty about the stuff she did because she underwent enough to become bitter and furious. But her conscience remained alive in the most realistic and beautiful way.
Her personality traits are interesting. She doesn’t become this totally innocent, sweet girl after her redemption: she retains her snarky and mildly sadistic nature. She does become more openly kind, which is to be expected on any redemption. But it was very refreshing to see that!
Now! Let’s talk about how dirty Mashima did my queen.
WHAT THE FUCK. Was the crap with saving Gray?! In my opinion, Gray should’ve died.
Yes, I just said that. The girl who has a blog dedicated to Gray just said that.
Gray should have died because then - at least then - Juvia might have had some personality. And you know what? I’m okay with sacrificing my guys for the girls. Because all the girls of FT were screwed over by Dickshima.
Anyways, I’m going off topic, so… yeah. Ultear.
Last Ages did not need to have that catch of aging. It did not need to be a single-use power with consequences, and it certainly didn’t have to be used then. Hell, Ultear has a fuckton of powers she could use to save everyone! She can literally change the time of the inanimate objects, cause a landslide or whatever. Possession magic: could have been used to possess the monsters and stop them from killing everyone. But no, Mashima wanted her out of the way because she was too interesting. She was too good, and she was taking over the plotline, and that couldn’t happen, now could it?
Now let’s imagine a scenario where Gray actually dies. Where he doesn’t come back, where Meredy stops Ultear from using Last Ages. Where Ultear uses a different magic in her unique and clever way to protect everybody.
Juvia would’ve grown to love herself and let go of her infatuation. She’d be able to use her full powers. And Ultear would be able to learn what Gray did on Galuna - to value herself and her life.
It’s the best lesson which she was never able to learn; and did we really need that parallel of Ur and her daughter both sacrificing themselves for Gray? Wouldn’t it have been way more poetic if it came full circle, with Ur going for Gray and Gray for Ultear?
Ultear was just drop kicked out of the narrative. She was given so much crap, and the funniest part is she’s the best character in Fairy Tail, writing wise. By Mashima standards, she’s astronomically amazing. Mashima started out trying to do with Gray what he ended up doing with Ultear, and failed miserably on both counts - one with keeping an MC dynamic, and two with keeping Ultear flat and sidelined. He didn’t think he had a choice: but I think he did. I think he could’ve chosen to shift Ultear gently to the sidelines while still letting her be an important part of the story. Ultear is useful as hell, has a beautiful design, and is just the  perfect character.
tl;dr: Mashima should be kicking himself for doing Ultear dirty the way he did. She’s an amazing, nuanced character who was way better than any of the MCs, and I say this as a huge Gray fan.

You Like Him- Lyredey and Gruvia Double date
Hey people, this is set in a high school au, I hope you like it
A blue-haired girl stood in front of her midnight blue car, nervously waiting for one of her best friends to arrive."Meredy!" Juvia yelled at the pinkette, waving her arm. "Juvi!" Meredy said excitedly. Juvia and Meredy hugged. The best friends had both had been busy, with schoolwork, clubs, and Juvia started had swimming.
"What do you want to do tonight and tomorrow?" Juvia questioned her friend. This was the one night they could meet up and have a sleepover.
"Well, I was thinking we just lounge around." Meredy shrugged.
"Juvia got tickets to the carnival!" Juvia said, holding up two slips of cardstock, with barcodes on them.
Meredy eyes lit up, the carnival was her favorite place to go.
"YES!!!!!!!!" Merdey yelled ecstatically.
Meredy loved the carnival and Juvia knew this, and intended to take advantage of that
"Merds, that's not all."
"Oh, what else? Are we going to the Waterpark?" Meredy's eyes sparkled.
"No, not quite, Juvia had two extra leftover, sooooo."
"So, what?"
"Juvia gave the other two to Lyon-Sama and Gray-sama and told them to meet us there," Juvia said sheepishly
"Juvi!" the pinkette whined.
Juvia just laughed, Meredy had the biggest crush on Lyon and hated it when Juvia tried to set them up.
"Please, Juvia won't force you to be around him," Juvia said.
"Yeah right," Meredy said, rolling her eyes.
They pulled up to Juvia's house and walked inside. Meredy was always amazed at how well decorated her household was. It was always so clean. Contrary to Juvia’s adoptive family, who all looked very messy
The way the house looked and functioned would be considered normal until you saw Juvia’s adoptive family. The Redfoxes were very odd, 'that's a good word for it.' Meredy thought.
As Juvia and Meredy stepped in the living room, a loud crash, followed by a string of curses were heard from the garage.
The door of the garage opened, and a tall tan man stepped inside the house, covered in sweat and soot, and grumbling about how his head hurt.
“Hi, Uncle”
He nodded at the two girls
“What was that Noise?” Meredy asked cautiously, Metalicana terrified her and she was very nervous around him.
“I was trying a grad a tool, and all my other tools fell down” he grumbled
“Were you standing on something you shouldn't have been” Juvia questioned
“Nooooooo”
Juvia rolled her eyes at her adoptive father
“Aunty isn’t going to like that there is soot everywhere.”
“Kan isn’t home right now.”
“Well once she comes home she’s going to be upset.”
Metalicana rolled his eyes at his daughter.
“What are you guys doing tomorrow?” Metalicana changed the topic
"We're going on a double date tomorrow."
"Are you going out with that Fullbuster boy again.”
"Yes, Uncle,”
“Wait, wait. You are going on a date and dragging me along, and I am being forced to hang out with your boyfriend's stepbrother,” Meredy defended herself.
Metalicana looked at the girls confused and shook his head. “Whatever I'm ordering Chinese.”
“We are eating in Juvia’s room,” Juvia said grabbing Meredy’s hand and pulling her up the stairs
Metalicana nodded as the girls went into juvia’s room
The walls were a light blue. Her bed had a white comforter and black sheets underneath, With some midnight blue velvet pillows. She had a TV in her room and even a mini-fridge. Her trophies for swimming had replaced the dolls she used to sew of her crush, Gray, but since they had started dating she had stopped sewing her gray dolls collecting pictures of him, etc.
Juvia jumped on her bed with Meredy and pulled out the remote and turned on the Television. She had put in a fantasy movie that Meredy had never heard of. "Soooo," Juvia said "What," Meredy said gulled to the screen. "Lyon told me something..."
"MmHmm," Meredy said, not looking at her friend, she knew where this was headed.
"He likes a girl..."
"I don't care."
"With pink hair."
"Probably Sherry"
"Nah She's dating Ren."
"Since when?"
"Doesn’t mean he doesn’t like her."
"The girl Lyon likes he said she was kind."
"Don't care."
"She used to be really rude."
"Sounds like you," Meredy said, not looking away from the T.V
Juvia then shoved her off the bed, Meredy laughed while tumbling off the bed
"Meredy He likes YOU!"
"Don't get my hopes up" Meredy mumbled.
"You like him, you like him," Juvia teased.
After Juvia continuously said this for about 30 minutes, Meredy caved, "OK, I LIKE HIM!"
"Juvia knew it!"
"Ugh, Tomorrow is going to be a long day."
"You know it" Juvia giggled at the pinkette.
*Time Skip: 12 hours*
It was around 8, and the girls were getting ready, how they got up so early is a mystery.
"Meredy, can you do Juvia lashes."
"Fine"
"Thanks. I'm horrible at them" Meredy rolled her eyes, Juvia really was terrible at makeup, no matter how many times her “mom” tried to teach her how to do it.
"All right, Done."
"Thanks"
"Which do you think I should wear?" Meredy asked her friend. She held up an oversized pastel pink hoodie with jean shorts and magenta crop top with white jean shorts
"Second, with black sneakers and rose gold hoops."
"Which one?" Juvia proceeded to hold up 2 outfits. A grey crop top with midnight blue jean shorts and Grey tank top with blue skirt
"Grey tank top with shorts and white converse with those cross earrings gray got you that match his necklace."
"Thanks, Meredy" Juvia said running into her room to get changed
*Time skip 1 hour*
Gray and Lyon waited outside the carnival.
"How much longer till we can go in, so I can beat you at some carnival games," Lyon asked Gray, teasingly.
"I don't know it's not like I track my girlfriend."
"What do you mean you have a tracker on her phone." "I do not. Her dad took it off" Gray mumbled the last part, and Lyon stifled a laugh
"Gray-sama, please stop fighting with Lyon-sama," Juvia said, walking towards her boyfriend.
"Hi, Lyon" Meredy waved at the white-haired boy.
When Lyon saw her, his cheeks went pink. Gray elbowed his brother in the rib cage and pushed him towards the pinkette. "Hey you look nice" "Thanks, you too" An Awkward silence rushed over the two flustered students
"Meredy, Let's show these guys we can beat them at any game," Juvia said, knowing that would make Meredy excited, she was very competitive.
"Come on Lyon so I can beat you," Meredy said, grabbing his hand.
Gray Laughed at his blushing stepbrother, getting dragged away by his crush. "Gray-Sama" "MmmHmm," he said, pulling her closer towards him. "Juvia is gonna beat you," Juvia said, running away "Good Luck!" Gray yelled at his girlfriend as he ran after her
*Time Skip 2 hours*
The entire morning was full of the 4 high schoolers playing carnival games, fighting (mostly by Gray and Lyon), Laughter and blushing. "Hey is 12 we should really get something to eat," Lyon commented. "Sure, could you and Meredy go get some pizza, Juvia needs to talk to Gray real quick," Juvia asked Lyon, totally not trying to get Lyon and Meredy alone together. Meredy was about to deny her request, but Lyon jumped in "Sure Juvia." Lyon pulled Meredy towards the food.
"Hey, You're a girl right," Lyon asked
"Last time I checked," Meredy said smiling
"So, there's a girl."
"MmHmm" Meredy tried her best not to feel jealous
"I really like her."
"Then, tell her."
"I can't do that."
"Why not?"
"She's too good for me."
"Lyon if you like her, then just tell her."
"Can I practice on you."
Meredy stopped walking, she should have known he would have asked that Lyon always said 'If you don't practice you can't accomplish most things.' Knowing Lyon wasn't going to give up, why was she friends with such stubborn people, she agreed.
"Okay," Lyon took a breath. "Hey, I like you."
"Now just tell that to the girl you like," Meredy said.
"I just did," Lyon said, scratching his head.
Meredy's eyes went wide. Lyon, one of the most popular boys at Fiore high, liked her, the dorkiest girl at her school. "Why?" was Meredy's response. Lyon could have any girl he wanted, but he chooses a girl who could drag down his reputation in mere seconds.
"Because you aren't like all the other girls at our school, you are passionate about everything you do, you aren't stuck up, and you make me feel like a normal person, you don't treat me like some celebrity, you aren't afraid of teasing me and I need a girl that can do that."
"Lyon, I think I like you too." Lyon sighed, clearly relieved.
"That's a lot better than you not liking me." Lyon smiled.
"We should probably go get the pizza now," Meredy said.
"Yep," Lyon said, grabbing her hand and walking her towards the pizza place.
Elsewhere (totally not sitting at a table so they could overhear Meredy and Lyon) were Gray and Juvia. Juvia was squealing her heart out.
"They like each other, soon they'll start dating."
"Now that you got them together can you stop trying to play matchmaker and focus on us," Gray said, hugging his girlfriend's waist.
“Maybe, only if Mira doesn’t recruit Juvia to do more work.”
"We're back," Lyon said, holding Meredy's hand and the pizza.
Juvia smiled at the new couple
*Time Skip 8 hours*
The rest of the day was spent with Juvia teasing Meredy about her new boyfriend, Gray and Lyon trying to see who can get their respective girl more stuffed animals (Spoiler alert It was a tie, the rivalry continues). They had a lot of fun. Lyon offered to take Meredy home, and Meredy agreed.
"Thanks," Lyon told Meredy as they were driving to the girl's house
"For what" Meredy seemed very confused
"Not rejecting me."
"Why would I, I've liked you since I met you."
"I'm just so happy, I now have a girlfriend who is sweet, kind, not stuck up."
"Thanks, I think," The new couple talked the entire way home.
They pulled up to Meredy's house, Lyon hopped out of the car to open the door for Meredy. He hugged his new girlfriend.
"Bye Meredy"
"Bye Lyon" Meredy quickly ran inside, excited to tell her 'sister/mom' Ultear. Also, to make sure her 'brother' Jellal doesn't kill her new boyfriend.
Gray and Juvia were also on there way home, Juvia was talking to Mira the whole time theme planning the following methods to get their ships together. 'Man' Gray thought to himself, 'I love my girlfriend.'
I love Double Date AU's. Also, Lyredy and Gruvia are two of my favorite ships. Anyways I hope you enjoyed the story. Thanks for reading. BYEEEEEEEE

Monster
Chapter 18: Kinship
Juvia could already feel a sheen of sweat gathering over her eyelids as she threw back her fourth shot of straight liquor, her head going back with the quick movement of it before she slammed her small glass back down onto the bar. A rather large man with a muscular physic was standing before her just behind the bar. He was wearing a much too tight T-shirt over his torso. He was a middle-aged man, clean shaven with hardened features that spoke of his experience and a large scar carved into the side of his bald head.
He was watching Juvia perturbed, but she ignored him, keeping her head angled down. Her line of sight was aimed on the four empty shot glasses in front of her, but she wasn’t really focusing in on them or anything else for that matter. The kaleidoscope vision having already taken over, apparent by the way the golden lights bounced off of her eyes. It was all a misty gleam that massed together, as though she were looking at them from underwater and she felt as much. She was suffocating after all, so she might as well drown in her own way.
She avoided the man’s gaze, wanting nothing more than to be served and left alone in her hour of self-pity. Her bangs were hiding the redness and gleam of her eyes, as the rest of her long hair had been let loose from its clip and was tasseled over her shoulders like a wild lion’s mane.
“Another… Please…” She finally spoke, so softly it was nearly a whisper. The words were raspy and desperate or so the bartender had noticed. In fact, she had sounded damn near dead inside, yet she still remained polite. He folded his burly arms over his chest, his biceps popping out from the tiny sleeves of his shirt. He was frowning, his eyes scaling over her quickly in concern. Juvia was still wearing the same revealing dress that she had been wearing at the press conference, but it was now also damp from the rain outside.
The bartender’s eyes glanced up, taking in the dark and unruly tavern around him. His eyebrows lowering as he noticed he was not the only person who had been eyeing the pretty young lady who sat alone at the bar. The intent of the other gazes in the room, looked far less concerned and much more devilish in nature though.
“Look at me…” The bartender demanded quietly, his eyes still up and settled on the two men who were standing near a pool table in the back, whispering to one another as they stared at Juvia from behind. Their intentions were clear, as the direction of their glances proved to be below her waistline and she seemed to be unaware of this, or maybe she did not care.
Juvia heard him, her head shakily lifting enough, so that she could match eyes with him. The bartender looked back down at her, taking in the red that had pooled into her cheeks and the demeanor of her bloodshot eyes.
“I know what you are doing…” He spoke. “But girlie… This is not the place for you to do that.” He stated. Juvia’s eyes widened fiercely, almost as if she might protest. “Listen…” He interjected firmly. “I have a daughter probably about your age… I would never let her near this place at this time of night… You gotta go.” He finished with a sorrowful frown. Juvia’s sights shifted back down to the table at that.
“I understand…” She answered unable to argue with him. She hadn’t the energy left to fight anyone anyways.
“Good. I’ll call you a cab then.” He spoke, turning away from her and Juvia could only bring both of her hands up to the sides of her head, grasping through her hair in distress and frustration as she accepted the gesture, despite how broken it made her feel. The truth being so cold and mind numbing, that she could only truly, process one inevitable fact. That she really did have no control in her life. Hell, she couldn’t even self-destruct in the way of her choosing.
A short while later Juvia found herself in the backseat of a cab, her mind still blanketed with the unknown feeling of what was to come next for her. Assuming it to be worst, likely a terrible death at the hands of her employer, Jose. From there, she found herself wondering what the repercussions of her sudden disappearance might bring. Somehow accepting this as an inevitability, as though she had given up already.
It is likely nobody would even notice really… She thought as various faces of people she had met over the years appeared in her mind. People from law school, people from work, people she had met in passing, such as Meredy and Levy. People whom she had been kind with, but had never actually befriended.
Aside from Gajeel… Her mind chimed, her eyes closing at last. He will be okay… Her thoughts consoled, as a youthful image of him looking down at her with a firm expression on his face appeared in her mind’s eye. Clearly a distant memory. He is a survivor and his strength far exceeds my own… It always has… She thought as the image floated there in her subconscious, until it changed to that of officer Gray Fullbuster’s face.
Juvia opened her eyes, looking down at the hands folded together in her lap. Despair was stinging at her throat as she finally shifted her head to the side. She began to press the warmth of her forehead, up against the cool glass of the window, as the rain poured down outside. Her mind stuck on the hopelessness of her situation, as she watched the drops leak down the windowpane. Buildings were passing the cab on by in the background of the window, but she barely acknowledged them. That was until a certain one she recognized caught her eye and she finally asked for the driver to make a stop.
Juvia stepped out of the cab and back into the rain. They had stopped in front of a 24-hour coinvent store, one that she hadn’t laid eyes on in a long time. She had decided not to bother with having the cab driver wait for her and had sent him on his way, before disappearing inside of the small store. She walked back out about ten minutes later, this time she was holding a bottle of something in a paper bag.
She glanced around, the rain was falling over her in waves. Her head shifted up, so that she could see the darkness of clouds among the night sky and the tops of the surrounding buildings. It only took mere seconds for her to be completely drenched, but she stood there, her eyes closing for a moment. The cold air hitting her warm face and running over her, as though the rain were cleansing her, of her doubts. She brought her head back down, her eyes opening. Her eyelashes thick with the water, and her hair, now dark and shining as it stuck to her neck, shoulders and the sides of her face.
She let out a visible breath of steam, she knew where she was and that meant she knew where she was to go. And so, she began to walk. Walk in the violent and cold rain, in the middle of the night, no coat, no umbrella out, in her dress. Her legs moving with a numbness to them, as though she were a puppet on strings. Eventually arriving at a park.
The wet sidewalks shined with the glow of streetlamps, but the surrounding area was grainy and dark, thanks to the rain. The grass having a certain squish upon stepping on it, as the water continued to gather up. Juvia had kept on mindlessly, despite it all, finally reaching the destination she had been searching for. Near the center of the park, there stood a thick willow tree, the branches reaching up and out towards her like embracing arms, but its leaves were raining down in contrast. Much like hair, when a head is bowed in mourning. She stood there apart from the tree, the only shelter she would accept from the continuous falling rain.
That’s it for the preview, let me know if you have any questions. This is still subject to minor changes upon further editing.

Heavens Bringer, part 5
Can you believe this idea started out as a one-shot? Yeah, me neither! Here it is, the final chapter of Heavens Bringer! I’m so proud, and relieved it’s done, but thanks to everyone who read this! Not only is it my first big multi chapter fic, but it’s also been a blatant showcase for the type of writing I’ve really been practicing - action and fights. This is the shippy chapter though, fair warning. I wanna dedicate the nalu to @a-fairy-tail44, the gale to @mountain-c (even though you cant read it yet boo), the jerza of course to @sweetmemories2606, little taste of albis to @allie-and-her-fandoms, the gruvia to both of them, and the kinabra to myself~ I’ve gotten a lot of new followers recently however, especially since posting the last chapter, so I’m leaving the link to Heavens Bringer on AO3 both this chapter and chapter 1. Chapter 1 Chapter 5
Demons were powerful beings, that was undeniable. But this was at the loss of a sense of caring, honor, or will. The instant that Keyes recognized those mortals he had so amusedly looked down upon had backed him into a corner, he began to crumble.   “You foolish, weak humans!” He growled, though he stepped back as Jellal narrowed his gaze at him. “When will you learn to quit when faced with overwhelming, superior strength?”   “There is no such thing to Fairy Tail!” Erza yelled, having re-equipped into her Adaraxia Blade Wing armor. The impressive swords that made up her wings fanned out around her as she stepped up next to Jellal. “When we stand together, we overcome anyone who calls themselves our enemy! Haven’t you learned that by now?”   “We beat your ass once back in the war between us and Tartaros, so really this shouldn’t have come as a surprise,” It was Gray who was the first to step forward. Though his chest rose and fell at an elevated pace expressing his exhaustion, he still looked willing to fight some more. “Even if you’ve gotten stronger, you’re still alone. Natsu and the other dragon slayers proved the will of your heart combined with those around you can overcome any amount of power when they beat Acnologia.”   Keyes followed Jellal’s gaze, where the resurrected body of Hades was finally fading away into nothing. With Levy’s enchantment negating his demonic powers, his seemingly-permanent Necromancy curse had also finally been canceled out.  “We’re gonna end this now! For real this time!” Natsu slammed his fist into the ground, a burst of flame erupting once again from the impact. “I’m sending you straight back to the Book of Zeref!”  From around him, a blazing dance of flames rushed at the demon, congregating into a single pillar that consumed Keyes in a brilliant display of magical power. Wordlessly, Gray created a bow of ice just as he had when they fought Mard Geer, and the excellent marksman that he was, saw his demon-slaying arrow fly true. Erza spread her arms, and her wing blades all at once converged on him.  “We still need more magic? Damn!” Gray grunted in dissatisfaction.  “That’s fine, leave it to me,” he turned back just in time to see Jellal take off into the sky once again using Meteor, darting across the sky in a familiar pattern as he drew magic circles at his breakneck speed.  “May you be judged by the seven stars of the heavens!” Jellal’s voice echoed through the courtyard with iron-clad conviction while casting the spell he was most recognized for. “Grand Chariot!”  The intensity, the measure of Fairy Tail’s combined hearts beating as one, finally was too much for Keyes to take and Jellal’s Heavenly Body magic, as the one to start the fight, was also the one to end it. The Demon Gate let out a roar of agony, but instead of dissipating into smoke this time, melted into the ground as shadows before they too, scattered and disappeared under the light.   Each wizard could feel it in their chest as the bane particles ceased to exist with the demon who had created them. Despite this, a silence hung over the courtyard as the walls of Levy’s enchantment came down, as if they still couldn’t believe everything that had just occurred.  “Oh my gosh! You guys! Natsu! Gray! Erza!” A young voice suddenly called from the sky, breaking the silence. “Gajeel! Are you all okay? Jellal! Erik!”  Jellal rose his head at his name and spotted three silhouettes with wings descending from the sky. Wendy was the first to land, having been the one who yelled for them. Carla appeared beside her as the other two wizards landed. To everyone’s surprise, it was Lyon and Chelia of Lamia Scale who joined her, carried by Pantherlily and Happy respectively.  “Natsuuuuuuuu!” Happy wailed, rocketing himself like a missile into Natsu’s chest, sobbing.  “Hey little buddy. You’re okay!” He exclaimed. “I was starting to get worried about where you were!”  “What do you mean ‘starting’? Natsu, you’re so mean!”  “Lyon!” Meredy exclaimed, a comically exaggerated blush had appeared on her face when she realized he was standing in front of her. “Wh-what are you and Chelia doing here?” She shot Erik a glare and elbowed him hard when the dragon slayer began chuckling beside her.  “Carla, Happy, Lily and I got away when Hades first started attacking the guild,” Wendy explained to the confused, battered wizards as she and Chelia dispersed to heal the injured members of Fairy Tail. “We flew to Lamia Scale because I knew Chelia could help me heal everyone, and I thought Lyon might be able to help fight him off.”  “I’m quite relieved to see you no longer need my assistance,” Lamia Scale’s ace wizard replied while still looking at Meredy, before his attention was diverted to his rival ice mage and brother. “You too, Gray. I can’t help but get worried about you, my little brother. Especially when Juvia is unable to help you.”  “Shut up,” Gray grunted, but the smile on his face gave away his true feelings. He turned back to the glacier holding her, Laxus, and the Thunder Legion, pushing both of his palms against the ice as he worked to take it down.  “Gray, what is this?” Lyon asked, studying the ice as he walked up beside him. “I’ve never seen anything like it,” it was then he noticed the wizards suspended within it, noticeably the water mage who was carrying Gray’s child and whom he previously also had feelings for, and his expression hardened. “Why is Juvia in there? Did Hades do this?”  “No, I did,” Gray huffed. “It’s some sort of healing ice. It protected them from bane particles and caused them to regain consciousness. I still have no idea how I did it. Keyes tried to attack Juvia... and I just remember feeling furious, that I couldn’t let him touch her.”  “Keyes?” He echoed in confusion.  “That’s right,” Jellal grunted, from where Wendy was working on healing his injuries. Levy was also casting another ‘PURIFY’ solid script over the group for good measure. “It was Keyes who attacked Fairy Tail. The Hades we fought was just a reanimated version of the true Grimoire Heart master. Hades is still dead.”  “I thought all of Tartaros was gone! Especially Keyes. Juvia killed him,” Wendy was shocked to hear the news as well.  “Yes, but he said it was because of Zeref’s death that he was able to use Necromancy to revive himself,” Erza answered. “Hopefully now he stays that way.”  With a sound somewhere between crumbling rock and shattering glass, the icy cocoon protecting the wizards within it opened. The onlooking group watched in awe as Laxus and his Thunder Legion appeared, unscathed, as Laxus reached up to help the three of them down off the ice.  And all the gathered fairies watched as Juvia slumped forward into Gray’s chest, who had already been rushing to meet her the moment he opened the glacier he’d put her in. She looked up to him, smiling as Gray shifted his arms to slip one under her knees and lift her off the ground.  “Wendy, will you check her out for me?” He called down to the dragon slayer with some desperation. “Can you make sure Juvia and the baby are okay?”  “Of course!” She waved back at him. In response, Gray slid back down the ice with her before letting her down back on her feet at the bottom.  Juvia reaches up and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek, whispering something in Gray’s ear that caused both him and Wendy - who had been standing nearby, along with her enhanced dragon slaying hearing and perpetual bad luck in always overhearing the wrong things - to blush across the entire width of their faces. She smiled innocently at him as Wendy nervously got to work.  Jellal let out a bit of a chuckle, watching as the rest of his guildmates gained their wits again, reuniting with relief for one another. Gajeel and Levy had joined back up with Lily, and all three were gathered around Jet and Droy as they came to. The Strauss siblings had joined Laxus and the Thunder Legion not long after they all woke up, with both Mira and Lisanna beginning to examine the group’s injuries.  He saw as Erza made her way toward the doors of the guild hall where Alzack and Bisca had appeared, the former cradling their daughter in his arms. Asuka was still unconscious from having what little magic was in her drained from her body, but because neither parent looked extremely worried he figured she must be okay, perhaps even just sleeping after waking from the whole ordeal. It was a moment of relief for all who had experienced the pure terror Keyes had subjected them to, as life had been breathed back into Fairy Tail.  “Damn it’s loud again,” Jellal turned when he heard Erik speaking, and he saw the dragon slayer and Meredy nearing him.  “Oh stop pretending like you aren’t happy everyone is all right,” the petite wizard scolded him.  Erik yawned, indicating he was purposefully ignoring her statement. “Even though it’s loud again, I can still hear what you‘re thinking, pinky. Why don’t you go talk to Lyon instead of bothering me with both your lovesick voice and thoughts? It’s too bad he didn’t get to play hero for you, huh? Although, I must say you’ve got quite the imagination.”  She blushed again. “H-hey, that’s...! You’re horrible! Agh, get out of my head you ass!”  He rolled his eyes and looked to Jellal, a look of bored annoyance on his face. “Look, if we’re done here Jellal, I’m just gonna-“  “Erik!” His composure, however, was caught off by the sharp cry of his name that also echoed from the guild hall entrance. And there stood Kinana, the very sight of her which immediately stripped his indifferent facade away.  “Kinana...” he gasped, and Jellal couldn’t help but chuckle at him too, as his mind seemed to instantly stop, relief flooding his face so quickly that the Poison Dragon Slayer looked as though he were about to cry. The next instant she had crossed the courtyard and flung herself into his arms, nearly knocking Erik over in the process. He held her tightly though, wrapping a hand around to cradle the back of her head like he couldn’t believe she was all right.  “You’re okay... you’re safe...” he was mumbling. “Kinana...”  Meredy rolled her eyes and continued over to Jellal’s side. “Can you believe him? Such a softie when it comes to her.”  Jellal smirked and turned his gaze to her. He was about to ask her if she was all right when a sudden ignition of flames erupted from where Natsu stood. Surrounded by so many reuniting couples, it was blatantly obvious what had him so upset when Jellal realized there were still two members of Fairy Tail who were not amongst the joyful crowd.  “Lucy!” Natsu’s despairing exclamation immediately darkened the mood of the celebrating guild members. “Where’s Lucy? And Cana?!”  When no answer came, only stunned realization from his friends, Natsu whipped around to glare at all of them. “We defeated Keyes, right? His curses should be broken too! Whatever he did to them, shouldn’t they be safe now?!”  “Calm down man-“ Gray started, but was cut off by another furious eruption of flames from the dragon slayer. Instinctively, he pushed Juvia back.  “How can I calm down when I still don’t know where Lucy is?!” He roared, causing the air around him to heat up and expand, his guildmates groaning in protest. “I promised to always protect her, and I did it, didn’t I? No... I fought Keyes with everything I had to bring her back, and it still wasn’t enough.”  When no one responded again, his shoulder slumped forward and the heat suddenly disappeared. “I-I promised,” This time when he spoke, his voice had dropped and he had never sounded more defeated. “I promised... I would tell her today.”  Upon realizing what he meant, Erza’s eyes widened. “Natsu...”  Despite being forced by Gray to stand behind him, Juvia pushed past her boyfriend and was the first to approach Natsu. She placed a cool hand on his shoulder, the effect instantaneous as all the tension began to disappear from his body, leaving him trembling. He rested his forehead on the water mage’s shoulder, pushing his nose into her. Happy, who had started to cry, flew over and landed on Natsu, clutching tightly as he sobbed for their missing partner.  “I- I’ve never seen him like this before,” Gray mumbled in somewhat of a state of shock. He knew the extent of Natsu’s feelings for Lucy, but he had never expected to see him so distraught.  “Could Keyes have done something to them that wasn’t a curse?” Erza wondered aloud. “But even then, wouldn’t anything he have done been canceled out when he was slain?”  “Yes,” Jellal drew their attention upwards with his face to the sky. “It just took some time to be undone. Look.”  A crack ran across the clouds itself, much like it had when the dragon slayers fell from the ethernano dimension just outside theirs after defeating Acnologia. The very fabric of time and space, opening up as Keyes’s power completely and finitely faded from the world.  And from that crack came the screams of two girls as they plummeted from their inter-dimensional prison. One brunette and one blonde, the members of Fairy Tail who had been missing when Jellal and his team had arrived. While most of the group on the ground were stunned by their sudden arrival, two of the wizards leapt into action.  “Lucy!” Cana shrieked, reaching for her friend, but the two of them separated quite quickly in free fall.  “Happy!” Natsu exclaimed desperately, and his partner gave an intensely gleeful ‘Aye, sir!’ as he spread his wings and pulled Natsu from the ground. The combination of Exceed and dragon slayer, familiar in its own right, rocketed through the sky toward Lucy faster than anyone had seen either of her boys move. Natsu plucked his partner out of her free fall effortlessly, and Happy was already a mess of emotions when he set them both on the ground gently.  Lucy screamed and gasped all at once, in shock that it was all over so suddenly. She stared up at her partner for a moment in silence before speaking, her voice trembling.  “Natsu...?” She sounded as though she didn’t believe it was really him.  At the sound of her voice, the tears that had been so close to falling, that had threatened him before spilled forth silently. But there was a smile on Natsu’s face, a smile of so many emotions all at once. Relief. Guilt. Anger. Frustration. Protectiveness. Love.  He placed a hand on the top of her head, reminiscent of the gesture he had once offered the Lucy of the future during the events before the dragons descended upon Crocus. And he pressed his forehead against hers as he closed his eyes and revelled in having her so close to him once again.  “Lucy,” was all he whispered, before she too, crumbled into tears.  It was Jellal who rushed to catch Cana before she struck the ground. With no Exceed to take him into the sky, Jellal positioned himself beneath her; he crouched, leaning his hand down in preparation as he gathered the little magical power that had returned to him.  And then instantly Jellal sprang up, surrounded by the blinding light of his magic. Like a celestial body, he swiftly met Cana in the sky and landed with the Cards Mage safe in his arms. As quickly as the moment had occurred, it was over and relief flooded his face with both Lucy and Cana finally safe.  “Thanks, big guy,” Cana planted a kiss on his cheek, which left Jellal stunned. “But ya might wanna put me down, wouldn’t want to make Erza jealous would we?”  With his face turning the shade of the aforementioned wizard’s hair, Jellal gently set Cana down on her feet.  As the guild took that cue to surround both girls and tears were shed, Jellal couldn’t help but realize he would’ve never felt like he did now if he hadn’t joined Fairy Tail. It was pride, but a pride that burst forward as magical power over the family that was their guild. His eyes settled on the flash of scarlet that wrapped around Lucy and shoved Natsu out of the way. He had protected this family.  It was a guild - a family - that he now belonged to.
~  “We do have something very serious to discuss, however,” Erza spoke authoritatively to the guildmates before her. Once the tearful reunions with Lucy and Cana and the rest of the guild had been calmed down, the wizards had all moved back inside Fairy Tail and several of them had left to fetch Porlyusica. “And that would be the information Keyes told us about why he had attacked our guild in such a manner.”  Erza had then gathered a group of the wizards who had been involved in the incident, including those present at the guild who had learned the secret of the Fairy Tail previously.  “Right, that there is a new Fairy Heart amongst our members, which someone could potentially use to create another Lumen Histoire,” Levy agreed.  “It troubles me as to how Keyes would have come across such information,” Jellal muttered darkly, his face concerned. “And how he even knew what the Lumen Histoire was. He believed that Lucy or Cana have the same abilities as the first master, because they’ve both learned one of the sacred Fairy spells of the guild.”  “But didn’t that happen because Master Mavis had the Ankhseram curse cast on her?” Gray crossed his arms. “She was immortal, but was left somewhere between alive and dead because Zeref’s curse had been around far longer, and was stronger than hers, and also because he loved her but she hadn’t returned that same love for him. That’s what we learned from Master Mavis and Zeref during the fight against Alvarez. The curse of Contradiction worked on another immortal because she was the one he felt for most in the world.”  “Realistically, he couldn’t make another Lumen Histoire with Cana or Lucy even if they were the next Fairy Heart either, because neither of them had the curse set upon them,” Mira expressed softly. “And I don’t think that curse is something you could force upon someone. It seems to me the person themselves has to wish to defy death or the cycle of life. Brainwashing, or mind control, that wouldn’t change the fact that the target wouldn't truly feel the way that makes Ankhseram punish people.”  “I think we’re giving Keyes too much credit,” Erza answered. “I can’t imagine he had the entirety of his attack planned out. If I had to guess, this is what he knew:  One, that Fairy Tail was hiding the secret of the Lumen Histoire. The only explanation for this would be Zeref telling him at some point, or he heard it from one of the Spriggan 12. Two, that the Lumen Histoire is created from a member of our a guild. Three, Mavis could perform all three of the Fairy Spells, and only passed down Fairy Law. No one besides her has ever used Fairy Glitter or Fairy Sphere, until Cana and Lucy,” She gritted her teeth. “I think he was going on a whim with what he was going to do to Cana and Lucy. He had no idea how to make them into the Lumen Histoire, only believing that one of them has the potential for it.”  “But we have no way of knowing which one it could be,” Gajeel pointed out grimly.  “Is there any proof that one of them is it at all?” Erik suggested with a cynical sigh. “Or are people just gonna keep coming after them for no reason?”  Jellal was especially disturbed by this thought as he glanced at Erza.  There was the soft sound of whimpering, which drew everyone’s attention. It was Lucy, trying desperately to hide the tears that were coming down her face. Every member gathered there understood why. Both she and Cana had described the dimension that Keyes had locked them in. The unending darkness had made time stretch on forever. If they hadn’t had he each other - grasping hands the entire time so as not to float apart - they could’ve easily been driven insane. Undoubtedly, she was upset over the thought of having to go through something even remotely like that again. That the lust for power was so great in some people, some dark wizards or corrupted masters or something of the like, that there was a very real possibility of having to endure worse. Though she was already tucked against him, Natsu pulled his partner in closer to comfort her. Jellal sighed. “Unfortunately, I don’t really think there’s a way of determining which of them it is, or if either Cana or Lucy are truly the Fairy Heart.”  “You’re kidding right? It’s obviously Lucy,” Cana got on her feet, leaning over the table. Everyone’s attention immediately went to her. “And I’d bet she really is the new Fairy Heart! There’s no one else who’s ever been in Fairy Tail more similar to Mavis Vermilion than her. Not only did Lucy use Fairy Sphere against Acnologia, which is what made her the target, but she loves Fairy Tail more than anyone else I could ever know. She believes in Fairy Tail more than anyone else. Remember during the end of the Battle of Fairy Tail, when everyone was arguing, yelling at each other even while Gray made it apparent that we were running out of time?” She threw her thumb in the direction of Lucy. “She was the only one who rallied everybody, because even though she hadn’t been in our guild all that long, she loved it more than all of us back then. She showed us all up, I even remember Macao congratulating her on getting all our heads out of our asses. During our war against Tartaros, she saved all of us by herself! And after the guild broke up... she kept track of everyone, was the only one willing to reach out and ask everyone to return to our home. She barely knew me as more than a guildmate, no where near the level at which she knew Natsu and Gray, and yet she partnered up with me against them for the S-class trials on Tenrou Island. We might’ve ended up fighting Freed and Bickslow, but we could’ve very well been put up against Natsu and Happy, her damn partners! Lucy went against them for me, because I asked her! Because I needed her help!”  When no one said a word, Cana sneered and crossed her arms, continuing her point. “This isn’t about just the damn spells... what makes Lucy the Fairy Heart, what makes the Lumen Histoire such a powerful weapon... is the love she has for the guild. No one alive loves Fairy Tail like Lucy Heartfilia.”  The aforementioned female stared in shock at her friend, listening to her long speech. After a while, she drew in a shaky breath. “You’re right... I love Fairy Tail more than anything. But that makes everything so much more painful,” her voice was soft, but when she spoke again it got even quieter. Jellal had to strain his ears to hear her. “If I’m the new Fairy Heart, then I’m putting everyone in danger by being with the guild.”   Immediately, everyone around the table began to protest. Even Jellal himself; Lucy had been part of the light that saved him, too. He’d just as quickly put himself between her and danger as he would Erik or Meredy. The protests seemed to only hurt Lucy more, however, as he saw her bite her lip, holding back something whether that be tears or anger. He understood her frustration. She didn’t ask for this. When Lucy joined Fairy Tail, she wanted a family that she could live with, laugh with, love so wholeheartedly and where she could be herself; none of them could anticipate it would only lead to making her a target for those who might learn of the Lumen Histoire.   Natsu got to his feet, instantly silencing everyone. Lucy looked up to him, and in that moment Jellal wasn’t sure what they communicated to one another but he saw Lucy’s eyes widen. Her partner clenched his fists, and Jellal was almost worried he would burst into flames just as quickly as he had while fighting Keyes - he looked so furious.  “After everything, we would never give you up Lucy,” Natsu answered through gritted teeth. “We wouldn’t do it back against Phantom Lord, and we sure as hell wouldn’t do it now. If anyone other than you even suggested it, I’d torch them on the spot!”  Lucy looked down to her lap, smiling gently to herself. “You’re right, Natsu... I shouldn’t have even thought of it. I would never want to leave, I... will always fight to protect Fairy Tail.”  The group of wizards were silent for a moment, until Erza cleared her throat.  “We’ll have to be extra vigilant in who knows this information,” she concluded. “The secret of the Lumen Histoire was exposed by Zeref, but that doesn’t mean people have to know it can be created again. And, if at all possible, I’d like to keep the people who know Lucy is the new Fairy Heart to those present in this room.”  “I’m the new secret of Fairy Tail,” Lucy said softly. “But I can’t promise that I won’t give myself up if something like this happens again. This guild means everything to me. My family means everything, and you all got hurt because of my love for Fairy Tail.”  “And we love you too, Lucy,” Mira answered in her melodically sweet voice, reaching over and putting her hand on top of Lucy’s on the table. “That’s why we won’t let you do anything like that.”   “You really are just like Master Mavis, Lu,” Levy shook her head. “Willing to do anything to protect the guild. You’re more important than the secret. You’re our family.”   “I suppose we’ll just have to protect Lucy from anyone who might come looking for the Fairy Heart,” Jellal smirked, looking at the dragon slayer beside her. “Think you can handle that?”  Natsu clenched his fists at his side. “I’d already do that. No one’s ever getting through me.”  Lucy got to her feet, grabbing his arm. Natsu looked down at her for a moment, and for the first time his expression softened. When he spoke again, the same determination was there, but his voice was gentle.  “No one’s ever gonna hurt Lucy again.”
~
“You should be celebrating with everyone else, Jellal.”  Jellal broke his gaze from watching the other members of the guild. He was particularly unable to keep his eyes away from the dragon slayer and his celestial wizard, who couldn’t have separated for more than a few minutes since being reunited. He looked up to see the source of his strength, the brightest beacon of hope in his life, join his side. Erza gave him a sly smile.  He groaned and leaned back against his hands. “Nah, think I’ll leave the celebrating for the people who weren’t at the real party. Wendy’s magic is getting better and better all the time, but I’m still almost too exhausted to stay awake.”  “Hm, you could lean on me then. I don’t mind,” he heard her laugh.  Jellal made a slight guffaw in protest. “Are you making fun of me?”  “Hardly. I don’t think anyone fought more than you did. Natsu and Gray might have fueled their magic with their fury, but there was one point at the beginning where you were the only thing standing between Keyes and our guild.”  “They were driven like that because Keyes had hurt the girls they love,” Jellal glanced up at her. “I was furious like that too, at first. When I saw you had been hurt.”  There it was, that sweet blush she did that he found so endearing. Erza was always so confident, but he found she shied away a bit when he was as open with his feelings as he wanted to be. His smile widened a bit more when he felt her take his hand.  Jellal looked back toward the guild again, toward the wizards he had been watching before.  “I’m sorta disappointed. I thought Natsu would’ve taken the opportunity I gave him to confess how he feels to Lucy like he said he was going to. So he chickened out in the end, did he?”  “I knew he wouldn’t be able to after that,” Erza spoke fondly of her guildmate. “It seemed like the perfect moment of course, especially after what Lucy said about leaving Fairy Tail to make sure no one gets hurt again. But Natsu has never been one to do things the same way other people do. I think it’ll happen either in the middle of a guild brawl or while he’s on a job with her, just the two of them.”  He chuckled. “Still, it would’ve been something rather nice for the guild to celebrate after the day we’ve had.”  “We are celebrating; that everyone is safe now. Besides, I can’t imagine Lucy is completely unaware of how he feels,” she continued. “When Natsu first confided in Gray and I that he had feelings for her, he actually wasn’t that bad at hiding it. However, as time went on he became more obvious and once Mira knew pretty much the entire guild did. So I think that Lucy has at least some idea.”  He turned his attention toward the two of them again, where Natsu sat next to Lucy with his arm around her shoulders as he argued with Gray. His rival was sitting with an arm drawn around Juvia’s waist. Honestly the only difference Jellal could see between the two pairs was that one was dating and expecting a baby.  “Lucy isn’t exactly subtle with how she feels either, but Natsu isn’t well versed in social cues like that,” Erza noted with a smirk.  “Unbelievable,” he shook his head. “They both told you, and you aren’t going to do a thing about it?  “I intend to let it happen naturally.”  Once again shaking his head at Erza’s answer, he waited a moment before speaking again.  “She’s his strength... just like you are mine.”  Erza stumbled over her words in response, but Jellal didn’t even notice as he sat up, brushing his hand over her cheek. But he kept going, leaning over and  stealing a kiss from her.  When he pulled back, her face matched her hair and there was a dreamy look in her eyes. It never mattered whether she was in the middle of a fight, scolding Natsu and Gray for their antics, or simply caught flustered in a moment like this; she was always the most beautiful woman in the world to him. It was almost embarrassing how much he was enamored with her, if Jellal wasn’t completely sure of himself and their relationship. All was well - perfect, even - until Erza gathered her bearings again.  “Shouldn’t you not be kissing other woman, lest your fiancée finds out?”  Jellal choked on the very air. “Are you ever going let me forget about that?”  “Not for a little longer,” she teased, before boldly returning the gesture.

Three fandoms tag
I was tagged by @yeleleow. After about three thousand years I’m finally doing this :’D
Rules: Choose any three fandoms (in random order) and answer the questions, then tag 10 people you want to know better.
My Three Fandoms:
1. Nanatsu no Taizai 2. Fairy Tail 3. Voltron: Legendary Defender
The first character you loved:
1. Ban! (That smug fox won over my heart from his first appearance. And after his backstory was revealed he firmly set himself as my favorite Sin) 2. Erza (A powerful stoic female knight? Fourteen-year-old me was head over heels for her) 3. Shiro (I learned bits and pieces of his story through tumblr posts so when I started the show I already cared deeply)
The character you never expected to love so much:
1. Ahaha, that’s definitely Hendrickson (As a villain he did a good job at making me hate him) 2. Jellal cause...same reasons (I have a type, okay?) 3. Pidge! (I never expected to like that “hacker boy” but man was I surprized)
The character you relate to the most:
1. Hendrickson (I’m just as awkward with no understanding of romance but still trying my best to be kind) 2. Hmm...I’d say Cana? (Minus the alcoholic part, but I too have to constantly battle the feeling of not being good enough) 3. I guess that’s Keith for the loner aspect
The character you’d slap:
1. Ludo-whats-his-name can go and crash into a cliff 2. Ichiya (Dude needs to learn what personal space is) 3. Acxa (For joining forces with Lotor once again out of blind worship, which got her team...nowhere)
Three favorite characters (in order of preference):
1. Hendrickson, Dreyfus, Zaratras 2. Jellal, Ultear, Erza 3. Shiro, Pidge, Keith
A character you liked at first but don’t anymore:
1. ????? The Sins themselves to some extent, but it’s not like I stopped liking them - my focus just shifted to minor characters 2. I’ve generally grown cold to the main five by the end of the manga 3. ?????????
Three otps:
I’m not big into romantic shipping so this is more like three favorite relationships xD

Thalassophile
August word challenge prompts
FF.net
Thalassophile: (n) One who feels safe/comfortable around seas/oceans. A lover of the sea
Trapped and free. That's what Ultear Milkovich was because of one minute. She thought about that day often, how she'd realized that she was weak. She's been so ready to kill Rogue that day to prevent him from becoming like the future version that had appeared though the Eclipse Gate. But she didn't, instead she'd gotten the idea to cast Last Ages and turn back time so that they could prevent this crisis. She had successfully cast the spell at the cost of her time, her life, for a single minute.
She was naive then, believing that she was worthless. But she'd watched as time passed her by and looked back to that day to see that she'd given them all the time they needed to win that fight. She'd saved their lives and they continued to fight.
She stood on the beach and let the waves brush over her ankles, though she couldn't feel the water. Not like she used to. After she and Meredy had fled Tenrou, she often visited the ocean to hear her mother. She'd been so alone growing up, believing that her mother had not only abandoned her but had replaced her. She learned far too late that hadn't been the case.
I miss your voice, mother.
When she would come to the ocean, she could hear her mother. Feel her holding her as she lay in the water. She spent that time apologizing mostly, wishing that she could have grown into a daughter that she'd be proud of. That just couldn't happen. She'd committed too many evils to ever atone for her sins and now that she only existed as an idea, she was powerless to even try.
All she could do was watch and wait until she found a rift in the timeline. She'd found one and aided the Sky Sisters for as long as she was able. It hadn't been much and it had caused one of the girls to lose her magic. But it saved countless lives. She had to remind herself of that whenever she doubted. It's what her mother would have said to her if she could hear her.
It hadn't stopped Ultear from coming though. She still drifted in the water and talked to her mother, believing that somehow her mother was able to hear her. It still comforted her which was a big thing since she was alone in this state. She told her mother about all that had happened since Zeref and Acnologia had been defeated. She was happy that her guildmates of Crime Sorciere had been pardoned. They were finally free of what she had trapped them in long ago.
She's okay with being alone and eventually forgotten because it means that everyone else gets to live on and be free. Just like her. Yes, she was trapped in the distortions of time but she was also free remain with the ocean. With her mother.

. Between the Lines . 199
"It feels like years since we were last here," Wendy said excitedly as she looked around at their hometown. Magnolia was like a breath of fresh air compared to Crocus. Lucy hummed her agreement, stretching happily at the thought of going home and sleeping in a bed for the first time in ages.
It had been a week since the party and all of the non-local guilds had been given the okay to go home. A few select mages had stayed back to help, but they were mostly mages under employment by the Council, ordered to stay and help.
In that time, Lucy felt like she'd been interviewed countless times. Magic had been shown in a beautiful light and the entire country seemed to have come to terms with it. There was still the occasional protest, or even a terrorist that went and hurt people, but for the most part…
Lucy screamed in surprise when they stepped out of the train station and were greeted by what had to be thousands of air horns. Natsu burst into flames on instinct and then forced them back as he gaped.
Hundreds of people had gathered around the station. Everyone was holding signs and cheering and screaming for them, all looking delighted and proud. Natsu's jaw dropped as Lucy slumped against him in shock.
The mayor of their town stepped forward with a huge grin on his face. "Welcome back, Fairy Tail," was all he said and the crowds around them cheered again.
Makarov grinned as he ducked out, Mirajane and Laxus at his side. Mavis had disappeared, not to be found by anyone. "This is ridiculously different," Gray muttered as he threw an arm playfully around Lucy's shoulders. She let him, winding her arm around so she could rest her elbow on his in return.
Juvia gave her a sharp look, but didn't respond in any way.
Erza smiled warmly and was the person to say honestly, "Thank you for the warm welcome. It is nice to see our return is appreciated."
"Kitty!" a girl gasped, giggling when Lily came to see what was going on, abandoning Gajeel. He squealed when she scooped him up without prompting and rubbed her cheek against his.
And no one panicked, The mother only laughed and apologized, freeing the ruffled cat before scooping her daughter up.
The majority of them gawked before excitement fluttered across Natsu's face. And then the mayor turned to Makarov, stepping closer so he could lower his voice. People began to mingle with the mages, eagerly chattering with them. "Makarov, would you perhaps be interested in hosting the Fantasia Parade on the first? I thought a parade displaying magic would be a good idea - and much more exciting."
"I'd be honored," Makarov agreed. "However, I think I'll put Mirajane here in charge of it." Mirajane, still hosting a bandage on her cheek, smiled and waved. "She's much more organized than I am."
"Thank you," the mayor said with a pleased look. "We'll have an announcement made in the next week. Now if you'll excuse me…"
Mirajane beamed. "This'll be good for the guild," she said to Laxus, who looked around with disinterest as his friends and team dealt with being surrounded by people. He grunted in response and she giggled before smiling at the flustered Natsu, who found himself the subject of a woman's flirting.
Lucy smoothly cut in much to Mirajane's amusement. She slyly sidled over and, relieved for a polite way out of the situation, Natsu tackled her in a tight hug, shouting, "Luce!" as if no one knew who Lucy was.
The woman pouted and stalked off.
Lucy giggled as Natsu pressed his face into her hair, Happy dropping onto his head in the process, and Mirajane silently mused that she couldn't remember a time when it was just Natsu and Happy.
The only thing she could see whenever she looked at any of them was Natsu, Lucy, and Happy.
Lucy couldn't breathe, and Gray and Natsu were laughing right alongside her, all three of them earning nasty looks from Cobra.
The entire town of Magnolia had thrown a festival of sorts in the town square to celebrate their victory, and they'd all been ordered to mingle with the civilians. Why not? It made a nice impression on the public in Magnolia - and elsewhere.
Kinana had asked them to keep an eye on Cobra, who'd looked ill from all of the noise, and Lucy had promised she'd watch him despite the venom mage declaring he didn't need to be watched like a child.
Apparently, many of the people had declared crushes on the various mages, because he had a couple of women trying to flirt their way into his graces despite the fact that he'd quite bluntly stated he only had an interest in Kinana. Lucy had pouted that Kinana herself hadn't heard it. Gray had been subject to a couple of attempts that had earned nasty comments from a crabby Juvia, and Lucy had been hasty to stop Natsu from incinerating a man who had attempted to grope her.
Cobra shifted uncomfortably and skittered away from one of the girls in front of him when she dared to touch him.
"Cobra!" Gray called, taking pity on him. "Could you come help us with something?" He slammed a foot on Natsu's foot and he shouted in pain, hopping up and down. "Lucy wants us to help Natsu to Wendy!"
"You stripping bastard," Cobra growled as he scampered over. "I've never been more grateful to be in a guild with any of you idiots."
Lucy giggled as Natsu began to shout at Gray angrily, earning a snappy retort. "Kinana should be coming back to save you from further attempts soon," she said sympathetically. "Everyone's dealing with the flirting today, don't worry. I thought the guy trying to talk it up with Laxus was going to get ripped apart by Mira."
They all shuddered.
"I just want to go home," Gray groaned, scrubbing at his eyes. "I don't think any one could sleep after that whole thing took place, and I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted."
"Me, too," Lucy admitted, thinking longingly of her bed.
Natsu looked at her expectantly. "You'll make me food, right?"
"One," Gray began. "There's food everywhere, Natsu. And two...when the hell did you move in with Lucy? I don't think you've been near your house in months. You and Happy."
"He hasn't," Cobra confirmed.
"Don't read my mind, you jerk," Natsu muttered, glaring at him. "I like Lucy's place better. She's there."
"...I don't know whether to say you disgust me or congratulations, you somehow managed to get to a point where you can probably move in with your first and only girlfriend," Cobra told him. Cobra rocked back on his heels, crossing his arms. "Did ya freaks see? That over-powered guy came back from a job. The one that was hanging all over Cana."
"Gildarts?!" Natsu darted off without hesitation, and Lucy sputtered. Gray sighed and reassured Lucy that he'd keep an eye on him before jogging off, leaving Lucy alone with Cobra.
Gruffly, Cobra told her, "Demons, Blondie?"
Lucy stiffened. "Don't. Stop reading my mind, Cobra, it's rude and I don't appreciate it."
"Yeah, well, something that big is something that we need to know." Cobra's gaze darted to her. "What happens if he gets out and starts wreaking havoc, huh? Or if that Zeref dude makes another appearance to do whatever to you? Salamander would flip out and we wouldn't be able to calm him down."
Lucy was quiet for a few moments, thinking over this. "I know you're right," she murmured. "But...those of us who saw Zeref on Tenrou - particularly Natsu...he's a black mage of legends, Cobra. I remember all of the darkness, and I remember what he created from my mother's diary. I don't want Natsu to know that the man who created demons like Deliora saw something that made him decide he'll be back. He'll lose it."
Cobra inclined his head a fraction. "Good point. I won't tell anyone, but you can't hide that kinda thing forever, Blondie." His eyes locked on Kinana, and he waved a farewell as he went to greet her.
Alone suddenly, Lucy closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose. Her freehand drifted to grip the keys at her hip for comfort, but none responded and she shifted her grip to the pendant in the shape of a dragon.
She gasped in pain when it seared at her, and she ripped it off, letting it tumble from her fingers to the ground. She stared at the blistering burn on her palm.
And for some reason, while everyone was at peace, chatting, she felt something was very wrong.
Lucy picked up the choker and wrapped it gently around her wrist. She made sure it wasn't scuffed, and then hugged herself, spinning on her heel and heading home, asking Natsu via text that he go to his own home that night because she wanted to be alone.
"Meredy?" a voice called, startling her out of her thoughts. She looked over her shoulder to see a concerned Lyon standing behind her, hands pushed into the pockets of his jeans. Behind him stood Chelia and Jura, both waiting patiently. They'd arrived home two days before and were intending to take the woman on a job shared among the four of them.
"Sorry," she said, her voice hoarse. She'd cried long into the night, remembering how Ultear had drifted to ash and wondering what she'd meant about legends. Wondering what had changed her mind so drastically. She forced a smile to her face. "I'm ready to go."
Lyon offered her a hand. She slid hers into his and flushed when he kissed her fingers. He'd been flirting with her a lot lately, and it was both entertaining and flattering, even if she didn't feel up to accepting a date from him quite yet. Playfully, he tugged her towards their friends.
"Don't apologize for being sad," Chelia told her. "We know your friend died in the attack...Lyon said so. And we wouldn't expect you to be not sad. If you want, we can wait to go on our job until you're feeling up for it."
But Merely shook her head and gave her a true smile. "No," she said firmly. "Thank you, but...I think a job is a good idea. To get my mind off of it, you know?"
"Then let's go," Jura chuckled, watching all of the younger mages with amusement.
Meredy nodded and pushed thoughts of her deceased friend from her mind.
There would be time to consider Ultear's words later.
They had people to help now.
"You've been distracted, Emperor."
Red eyes darted to the calm woman who had come to stand slightly behind him. She planted her hands on her hips as she watched him. "Is there something you haven't told us quite yet? I've come to understand that something happened. Larcade told me."
His lips twitched. "Has he now." Amused now, he turned to face the woman. Her dark eyes studied him curiously, holding no maliciousness like he'd come to expect from the only other two women in his series of Shields. She instead wore a look of blatant lack of interest. "And when did you last see Larcade, Brandish?"
She sighed, studying her nails. "On my way here. What did you need me to do, Emperor?"
Zeref ran a hand thoughtfully over a locket he wore at his throat. "Change is coming. Were you aware that Acnologia was freed from his restraints? Zancrow of the Grimoire Heart guild freed him. I would have thought Irene would have told you."
Brandish froze. "She didn't," she said tersely. "We don't talk often, though I'm sure she and Serena are delighted by this information." Brandish looked at him from under her eyelashes. "What do you need me to do?" she repeated.
He was quiet for a moment.
And then a slightly manic grin was carved into his face and his eyes lit with delight. "I found something I want, something that may help me in my work. It's time that Tartaros be sent to work, but I don't want them aware of the truth of who is commanding them. Simply suggest that their master has been located. Send them to Ishgar. Give them free rein to do as they wish."
He thought of Natsu as he had for centuries and grinned again.
"Tell them to wait a month, however. I want them to feel secure again."
Brandish gave a curt nod. "I'll simply tell that leader of theirs that it'll not only guide them to their master, but guide them to you."
"If they can get what I want," Zeref said, turning away with a smirk.
"It will."

he just wants her to remember the past that elluded her reincarnated mind.
They're starting to make progress.
Once, Gray had picked up his phone during ice hockey practice to the sound of a crying girl at the other end. Immediately he cuts training and heads over to where Juvia was located.
He learned a few days ago that the lake by the side of their school was where Juvia went whenever she felt as if she needed to get close to her element. She preferred the lake over the pool because to her, "the lake helps Juvia replenish." So, Gray Fullbuster found himself coming to that specific location as soon as he hung up. When he arrived, her eyes were red and she looked a lot paler than usual. She looked like she had seen death itself.
"Juvia is sorry," she said to him, wiping her eyes with the edges of her sleeve. Juvia stood up to greet him, but he motioned for her to sit back down. Stubborn as she was, she didn't listen and instead walked up to him. "Juvia knew Gray-sama had training today, but she still—"
"It's alright," he interrupted, looking over her worriedly. "What happened?"
Her eyes started to water. Gray sat down, leaning on the side of the tree. He gripped her hand and dragged her down with him, allowing her to settle on the grass. She tightened her hold on his hand. Tears were flowing freely on Juvia's cheeks as she watched the stagnant waters, avoiding Gray's gaze.
"Juvia is sorry," she whispered. Juvia let go of his hand and brought her legs closer to her chest, burying her face on her knees. "Juvia—didn't—Juvia—" her sobs were relentless.
For some reason, he knew what she was going to say.
"Juvia was the one who—"
"—killed the necromancer who was controlling my father."
She raised her head, staring at him in surprise. "How—"
"You told me," he muttered.
In the middle of the snow-covered ground, two mages fell. He held on to her as if she was some sort of light, clinging to her warmth.
"Long ago."
"Oh," Juvia said in realization. She sighed in relief. "Juvia is sorry you have to go through this again."
He shrugged. "At least you're getting your memories back. As I told you, some won't be pleasant."
He knew she remembered the way she loved him, burning brighter than the hottest star. Continuously trying to melt the heart that lay in the middle of a fortress he himself had created. At the same time, He knew she remembered the way he coldly ignored her advances. The way he rejected her sun to keep her safe.
Juvia leaned on the tree, feeling its rough bark on her back. "It all seems so vivid. She entered the body of the necromancer and fooled him into thinking that he was able to defeat Juvia."
"You what?"
"Juvia didn't tell you?"
"No, you just told me that you defeated the necromancer, not how you defeated him! Juvia, that was dangerous, you could have died!"
Mentally, Gray berated himself for shouting. He knew just how much it hurt Juvia to bring him any sort of pain. He had experienced the severity of the amount she was willing to sacrifice firsthand, after all.
Her answer surprised him.
She smiled at him weakly, sniffing. "Juvia would do anything if it meant that Gray-sama would be safe." Her answer had come so naturally, as if she was so used to saying it. As if she had repeated it over and over and over in her head.
A moment of silence took over them once more, as it did in many of their previous was hurting emotionally, clutching her chest and attempting to silence the sobs that racked her small, frame. He clenched his fist. What could he do? Juvia had helped silence his demons.
And now, here she was, traces of her memory plaguing her with visions that would eventually lead to nightmares.
Gray broke the trance. "You want to meet my dad?"
Her eyes were still filled with crystalline tears when she looked at him."Father?"
"Yeah," he said nonchalantly, trying to relieve the tense atmosphere surrounding them. "He's alive in this world. My mom too, but she's in the states, so you won't get to see her. You'll see Ur though."
"Your old teacher?"
"Aunt, now. And Lyon's still at Pegasus High, so you won't see him."
Lyon and Juvia's first meeting (reincarnated, that is), was, thankfully, not as annoying as their first meeting in their past life. Lyon had grown infatuated with Meredy both in their past life and in the present. The pink-haired girl just so happened to be Ultear's friend and comrade, which was a good thing because it meant his nuisance of a cousin was leaving Juvia alone.
Not that Gray cared, anyway.
"Juvia would love to meet Silver-sama," she told him happily, the light returning in her eyes as she smiled. "Are you sure it's okay for Juvia to be intruding, though?"
"Of course. He's been wanting to talk to you for a while."
"Dad, I'm home."
If there was one thing that stood out in Gray's household, it was definitely the temperature. Lucy had once called his home a refrigerator. Natsu didn't even want to come inside. Every single one of his friends remembered to take a coat with them whenever they went to Gray's house.
He waited for a reaction from the former water mage, but Juvia almost took no notice. It was if she had been expecting the cold.
"You're early!" His father, scarred and smirking, appeared in front of the both of them. "I thought you had ice hockey training."
"Yeah, well, you needed to meet someone."
Juvia removed her boots and placed them beside Gray's, before stepping foot on the shag carpet. "I'm sorry for intru—"
Silver's next statement was voiced in surprise. "Juvia?"
Juvia nodded. "G-good afternoon, my name is Juvia—"
"My daughter-in-law!" Silver greeted, and Gray smacked his palm on his forehead, his cheeks turning into various shades of red.
The old man smiled warmly at Juvia. Instantly, she loosened up, and offered the former ice demon slayer a smile in return.
"It has been far too long, my daughter," Silver told her, guiding Juvia towards the sofa. "Tell me, have your memories returned?"
Juvia shook her head in response. "Not all of them, Silver-sama."
"Please, call me father! Won't be long, right?" He winked suggestively at Gray, who glared at him.
Juvia was blushing to the roots of her hair. "Juvia doesn't really know, she can never really tell for sure." She whispered something that Gray couldn't hear, which made Silver laugh.
Gray attempted to change the topic. "Hey, aren't you cold?" He asked, cocking an eyebrow.
She shook her head. "No, Juvia is used to the cold."
Somehow, he felt as if she wasn't just talking about the temperature.
Silver saved the conversation by choosing to ask about how Juvia had been in her reincarnated life.
"Juvia is a swimmer," she said shyly.
"Very fitting for a water mage!" Silver commented jovially, laughing.
Silver received Juvia warmly. She immediately forgot about her woes about killing the necromancer, and rejoiced as she spent time with the father of the man she had loved.
Gray watched all of this with a satisfied look on his face.
"Who's this?"
Ur closed her bedroom door, raising an eyebrow at the guest she knew not. Juvia stood up at Ur's appearance, bowing politely.
"G-good afternoon, my name is Ju—"
"Ahh, Juvia, the girl in Gray's nightmares!" Ur said, smiling as she gave Juvia a light hug. "It's nice to officially meet you!"
"Ur!" Gray shouted in embarrassment.
Juvia looked perplexed, but relaxed in the hug. "It's nice to meet you as well. Gray speaks very highly of you."
"Glad to know you still have respect for me," Ur smirked as she looked at Gray. The boy's eye was twitching at her.
"Yeah well, glad to know you're spouting personal details about me to my friends."
Silver laughed, and Juvia giggled. Ur flashed Juvia a light smile.
"In all honesty, Juvia, I'm happy to finally meet you." She lowered her voice. "You hold a very special place in Gray's heart, y'know."
Juvia returned Ur's smile with one of her own.
Gray barely registered the pain in her eyes as she said, "I know."
