idk comparatively Vel is so much more evil than any of my other villainous ocs for the simple fact that he doesn't WANT to be redeemed. neither does Hikari, but inflicting nightmares on people out of spite isn't really as evil as raising the dead for fun and expermenting on people and using very, very dark magic and everything else Vel does. not to mention, even if he doesn't want to do better, Hikari will still at least TRY for the sake of his brother. but Vel doesn't want to nor does he try, and he gets away with it because he's rich and because by Elven standards necromacy isn't immoral, its just creepy. they believe that if you can successfully revive someone more power to you, but don't do it publicly. so Vel isn't even evil by the standards of his own people, he's just rich and "eccentric". he's well liked by his own people and has good public relations across the planet because of his family's ties to global trade. people know him, people like him, and he gets away with being evil right under their noses.
my other villains like TrES, Hikari, Mordred, or QC, they could be redeemed if I felt like writing it into their story. Hikari is just jealous and wants recognition, TrES just wants to feel needed again, Mordred doesn't want to be alone anymore, QC wants to prove themself. their methods are flawed, extremely so in some cases, but its nothing they can't come back from in the long run.
Vel? irredeemable and that's how he likes it. I like to use the theme of forgiveness, mercy, helping others see the light and become better people because these are things I hold dear and believe in wholeheartedly. but in Vel's case? I love showcasing that you can't help someone who doesn't want help, you can't see the light in someone who's light went out long ago.
I think its part of what makes Vel my most evil and potentially scariest oc
