5 Telltale Signs That Your Mercedes Oil Cooler Needs Replacement
Tumblr media
If you're like most Mercedes owners, you probably aren't aware of the oil cooler. Never mind… In this blog post we have covered everything you wanted to know about oil cooler like what it is, what purpose does it serve, and how can you tell if your Mercedes oil cooler is about to fail or not. Hence, it is advised that you read this blog post in its entirety…
Oil Cooler: A Brief Intro
An oil cooler, as is evident from the name as well, is a device that essentially removes excess heat from engine oil. It has many morphological and anatomical similarities with the radiator of the cooling system. Like a radiator, an oil cooler consists of tubes and fins. However, it facilitates the circulation of engine oil instead of coolant. By the way, oil coolers are made of aluminum and stainless steel and can be found sitting at the front of the engine's cooling system.
An oil cooler, just like any other part, can wear out over time; as a result, your Mercedes can face a variety of problems. Want to know about the reasons that may contribute to oil cooler failure in a car? Well, please keep reading…
Reasons Why Your Mercedes Oil Cooler May Fail
#1- Plugged oil passages
One of the major causes of oil cooler malfunction in a vehicle is that its oil passages are clogged; perhaps due to the accumulation of sludge and other contaminants. You will need to clean the oil cooler passages for unrestricted circulation of oil.
#2- Rust
Another leading reason why your Mercedes oil cooler may fail is rust. Rusting of a piece of metal usually occurs when it comes in contact with oxygen and moisture. Rust can cause irreparable damage to the oil cooler and you may need to replace the entire unit.
#3- Physical damage
Since the oil cooler is located at the front section of the vehicle; it can get damaged by road debris and other similar elements. The oil leakage caused by this can lead to various engine problems. So, if your car is leaving oil strain when parked, get its oil cooler tested.
Signs Your Mercedes Oil Cooler Has Malfunctioned
#1- Oil stain on garage floor
Oil flows through the thin tubes of the oil cooler to dissipate excess heat to the outside air. If for some reason one of its tubes gets damaged, the oil will leak out. So, if you are noticing an oil stain on your garage floor, the first thing that you should do is to have a mechanic check on the oil cooler.
#2- Engine running hot
Since the oil cooler plays a crucial role in dissipating the engine heat to outside air; if it gets damaged, you will see a jump in your Mercedes’ engine temperature. A faulty cooling system can also contribute to engine overheating. In any case, if your car engine is running hotter than usual, it’s a sign of trouble and should not be taken for granted.
#3- Dashboard lights
If there is something wrong with your Mercedes’ oil cooler, you will come across quite a few warning indicators such as the check engine light, oil pressure light, etc… After all, the oil cooler plays a crucial role in keeping the oil temperature within a permissible limit. Plus, it maintains appropriate oil pressure.
#4- Engine power has been reduced
Has your car been performing poorly of late? This may indicate a problem with the oil cooler. By facilitating heat exchange between the hot oil inside and the cooler air outside, the oil cooler keeps the engine temperature within an optimal range. By doing so, it ensures smooth engine operation. A faulty oil cooler will not be able to do its job smoothly and may interfere with engine operation.
#5- Weird noise
The engine needs lube to function smoothly and efficiently… If your car is leaking oil because of a defective oil cooler, friction among key engine components will skyrocket. As a result, strange noise will come out of the engine.
To Sum Things Up;
The oil cooler is something that not many people know about… But, it is an important part nonetheless. Its failure may contribute to a series of engine functionality problems; ranging from sluggish performance to engine overheating. It is therefore important that you check on your Mercedes' oil cooler from time to time and if it has a defect, replace it.

Orange Theory
Charles Leclerc x best friend!reader (female reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: charles and his best friend do countless nice things for each other, but they're just behaving like any good friend would. right? wc: 2.5k author's note: ok guys so this is not the Charles fic i promised (she is still a WIP and i will finish her eventually. probably will have to be a multi-part fic with how long it's getting), but i hope you enjoy this one in the meantime! special thanks to @scuderiahoney for encouragement and inspiration. special thanks to @sof1shticated for reading and assuring me this doesn't suck. if you haven't read their fics, both Lee and Mel have some gems that i adore. HIGHLY recommend checking out their masterlists! warnings: none!
You loved summer break – Charles was home for at least a few weeks, days spent on a yacht, every afternoon and evening spent with friends either at dinner or out at some club until someone got too drunk to carry on.
Today was, in your humble opinion, the perfect day. All of your friends, courtesy of Charles, were sprawled out on the sun deck of a rented boat or splashing around in the water below. You could feel the heat radiating off of Lando as he laid next to you and whispered about how McLaren was making insane upgrades – according to him, they might just have a race-winning car in the second half of the season.
“Are you boring my best friend to tears, Norris?” The brutal sun disappeared behind Charles’ body as he stood above you – as if on instinct, he shifted slightly so that you could look up at him and not be blinded by its rays.
“She’s hanging on my every word, right, Y/N? In fact, she asked me how I’m feeling about Zandvoort and the rest of the season.”
“And?” Charles asked, a small smile on his face.
“Like I would tell you what’s going on with the car! I know Y/N can keep a secret, she would never betray me to a prancing horse. She bleeds papaya.”
You laughed along with Lando – the one point of contention that had always existed in your friendship with Charles. Of course, you became a Ferrari fan because of him, but you’d always been a McLaren and Mercedes loyalist. It was something that Lando, Oscar, and George relished in.
“Alright, alright, no need to rub it in, Norris,” you giggled. “What can I do for you, Charlie?”
“I just came to give you this.”
Within seconds, a perfectly peeled orange dropped in your lap. Lando’s eyes grew wide for a moment but a swift glare from Charles had his face back to normal in no time. You missed the interaction, jumping up from your seat in excitement.
“Aw, Charlie! You are the best friend a girl could ask for,” you chirped as you started separating the wedges of fruit.
“Ah, don’t mention it,” he sighed, waving his citrus-scented hand in the air. “There’s more in the cooler if you want! Freshly peeled!”
“Thank you, mon cher ami.” You quickly kissed his cheek, noticing as you pulled away just how red it was, along with his neck and the tips of his ears. “Charles! How many times do I have to tell you to put on sunscreen? Your face and neck are fried!”
“I don’t think it’s from the sun,” Lando mumbled, his eyes trained on the fruit in your hands. With Charles insisting he was fine, you could barely hear what he had said.
“What did you say, Lan?” You asked, turning your attention away from Charles for a moment.
Once again, Lando was met with a menacing glare and he laughed awkwardly before moving his gaze to the horizon.
“Nothing, nothing, Y/N. Just thinking out loud.”
Shrugging your shoulders, you turned back to Charles and handed him the orange he had just given to you. With your now free hands, you rifled through your beach bag until you found the SPF 50 face cream you had packed that morning with Charles in mind.
“Here, I packed this for you. Please put some on so I don’t have to worry about you getting sun poisoning,” you pleaded with your best puppy dog eyes.
Charles stared without answering for far too long – anything you wanted, all you had to do was ask him and he’d do it. Even without you gazing at him with your wide, siren eyes, he would give you the world if you so desired it.
He shook his head slightly, pulling himself out of the daze caused by your pleading eyes. “Oui, ma fleur, I will put on the sun cream. Je promets.”
You smiled in triumph, taking the orange back from Charles and bidding him a “see you later” before laying back down in your lounger. Popping an orange slice into your mouth, you let out a contented sigh. Somehow, whether Charles was magic or he had some serious connections in the produce world, the fruit he picked out and gave to you always tasted better than anything you bought yourself.
“He peels your oranges for you?”
You hummed and turned to Lando – “what, Lan?”
“Does Charles always peel your oranges for you?”
“Well, no, obviously not always. Why?”
Before Lando could answer, Lily plopped down next to you and stole an orange slice from your hand.
“I swear,” she huffed, “Alex and George are competitive to begin with, but when they get together, it’s unbearable. They’ve been having a “who can hold their breath the longest” contest for the past thirty minutes! Rematch after rematch after rematch, I called in my favor with Oscar to get out of judging their little competition.”
“As if either of them could beat me, they probably didn’t ask me to join because they’re scared,” Lando bragged. “I’ll leave you ladies to chat, go show them how it’s done.”
As Lando walked towards the edge of the boat, you and Lily turned towards one another.
“Men,” you scoffed in unison, following it up with belly laughs and lingering giggles.
As the laughter died down, Lily ate the orange slice she had stolen from you and practically moaned in delight. “Where did you get this orange? It might be the best I’ve ever had!”
“It’s from Charles! I was just thinking about this, I don’t know how he does it but he always has the best fruit. Every time he brings me any I am both ecstatic and pissed off – my fruit is never as good as his and we shop at the same grocery store!”
“Well, does he have any more oranges? I could eat 20 of these.”
“He said he left me more in his cooler, let me grab them.”
A few moments later, you walked back to Lily with a bag of peeled oranges in your right hand and two bottles of water in your left.
“Are you a professional orange peeler? You were only gone for two minutes.”
“Oh no,” you giggled, “Charles peeled them for me. He knows I don’t like peeling them so when he can, he always does it for me.”
“Y/N,” Lily looked at you suspiciously, “do you know what the orange peel theory is?”
You wracked your brain but came up empty. “No, what is it?”
Lily went into a brief explanation – something about how it became a viral tik tok challenge, people asking their partners if they would peel an orange for them and how it was an indicator of true love, soulmates, a healthy relationship, and everything in between. “Well, that’s just silly,” you mumbled through chews, orange juice dribbling down your chin. “I think it just means someone is a good person – Charlie and I aren’t anything more than friends and he peels my oranges, among other things, because he has a good heart.”
“Among other things?” Lily pressed you, her eyes gleaming with something you couldn’t quite place.
“He slices my apples because I have never been able to master the apple corer contraption! And he takes all my grapes off the stems when he’s at my place because I never do – it’s too tedious.”
“What else?”
“Oh, when we go out to breakfast, he always brings me a tea when he picks me up. He’s an early riser and I take forever to get ready. He knows I never have time to make it myself when we have plans before 10am.”
Lily was smirking at you, no, smiling at you. It was a little unnerving, the way she was entirely amused at the information you were giving her. However, the moment was briefly interrupted by the arrival of Alex.
“What are we talking about, ladies?” He spoke cheerfully, a broad smile on his face which meant that he was most likely declared the best breath holder of the 2019 rookies.
“Y/N was just telling me about all the sweet things Charles does for her,” Lily gushed.
“Oh god, when is he not doing things for her? Did you see him buttering her bread for her at dinner last week?”
Lily burst out laughing while you playfully punched Alex’s arm. “I’m indecisive! He butters it for me while I read the menu since it takes me so long to figure out what I want to order. It saves time!”
“He does that on a regular basis?” Alex asked incredulously, looking at Lily with wide eyes. “My god, that man is head over heels.”
“Alex,” you protested, “Charles is not in love with me. We’ve been friends for six years, I think I would know by now.”
“You’re both impossible,” Alex groaned. “Come on, Lily, I just came over to get you so we could play water polo with George and Carmen.”
Lily sighed in defeat, though she had a smile on her face at the thought of spending time with Alex even if it meant another competition. “I’ll see you, later, yeah?” She called over her shoulder, waving goodbye as you teased her by dramatically eating another slice of orange and settling back in your chair. At the front of the boat, Charles was laughing with Pierre and almost as if he felt you looking, he turned around and met your gaze.
Even though you had just wholly denied anything more than friendship between you and him, you couldn’t help but think about your interactions with Lily and Alex.
Sure, Charles sometimes did things that were out of the ordinary for ‘just friends’, but he had the sweetest soul of anyone you’d ever met. He always sacrificed his umbrella or jacket for you, made sure you had fresh tulips in your apartment when he was home in between races, had your favorite meal delivered to you when you were having a rough day while he was away and you missed him.
You did things for him too – cleaned his apartment when you knew he was on his way back to Monaco, left him plenty of sticky notes with words of encouragement if he was coming back from a bad race, stocked his fridge full of his favorite things. Recently, you’d been gifting him annotated books because he mentioned he wanted to read more and always enjoyed listening to you talk about your favorite novels. Since you spent most of the year apart, you decided he could at least read your thoughts.
When you could come to races, unfortunately a rare occurrence due to your graduate classes and work schedule, he made sure Ferrari hospitality had your favorite flavor of sparkling water on hand. Anytime you saw a cute dog video, you would send it to him because they always made him smile.
You’d do anything to make him smile, just as he would for you, which is what a good friend would do. A best friend, it’s what a best friend would do.
But best friends didn’t linger in doorways and stare at each other’s lips when bidding each other goodnight. They didn’t cuddle close and fall asleep in each other’s arms on a couch while watching whatever movie you had chosen because he always let you choose.
They didn’t look at one another the way Charles was looking at you now – his sunglasses pushed up on top of his head and a dopey smile on his face. He waved to you and dramatically blew you a kiss, something he always did when he caught your eye across a room, no matter who was around.
You practically launched yourself to your feet, the last remaining orange slices in your lap falling to the lounger and staining the seat with juice. It was only seconds until you were standing in front of Charles but the walk over felt like an eternity with the way the world around you disappeared and your heart pounded in your chest.
“Est-ce que tu maimes, Charles?”
The question came out in one breath, your chest heaving in anticipation for his response.
“Of course, I love you, ma fleur,” he laughed. “What’s gotten into you?”
“No,” you panted. “Do you love me, Charlie? Est-ce que tu maimes?”
“Of course, I love you,” he answered again, his eyes shining and a small smile on his face that told you everything you needed to know. “Every time I think of you, I love you. Every time I breathe, I love you.”
“Every time you peel my oranges?” You whispered, holding up your orange juice-stained fingertips. He took your right hand in his and held it up to his face to kiss your palm, his eyelashes fluttering against you gently.
“Especially when I peel your oranges. Did you know that I hate doing it too? Like, really hate it. I don’t even peel them for myself.”
You gasped in shock, watching as he threw his head back and laughed jovially.
“I’d do anything for you, ma fleur. Mon soleil. Mon cœur.”
“Would you kiss me?”
“Maybe if Pierre would leave and stop gawking at us.”
This time you threw your head back to laugh, Charles soon joining you as Pierre protested the accusation.
“No, no,” he shouted, “you didn’t even give me a chance to leave. Just started declaring your love before I knew what was happening. Which, by the way, was so obvious it was starting to get annoying. We’ve all tried dropping hints to both of you so I don’t know who got through to you, Y/N, but – ”
“Pierre!” You shouted, eyes wide and arm gesturing him away from the two of you.
“Ah, désolé, I’m leaving,” he grumbled, almost tripping over his own feet to get away as quickly as possible.
You giggled again and Charles gripped your chin softly, pulling your eyes away from Pierre and back to face him.
He leaned in gently, as if he was afraid you would back away and regret taking the leap to go from friends to something so much more.
He tasted like salt water, smelled like sweet fruit and sunscreen – you smiled into the kiss knowing that he had listened to you and put it on, even though you knew he hated the way it felt on his skin.
His fingers gripped your waist and yours trailed up his chest – both of you slightly sticky from the citrus juices and sweat from the sun.
You pulled away and nudged his nose with yours, breathing him in and wishing that this moment would never end. Charles lowered you both to the sun deck, adjusting until you were sitting between his legs and his arms were wrapped firmly around you, the two of you facing the sunset and open sea.
After a few moments, you broke the shared silence. “You know, I would have happily peeled an orange for you if you had ever asked me,” you asserted.
Charles’ hold on you softened at your admission, the thinly veiled meaning not at all lost on him as he pressed his lips to your cheek.
“I love you too, Y/N.”

the favourite driver * ls2
Tumblr media
it's never fun feeling like an outsider, so you'd sworn that nobody would ever feel the way you did all those years ago
pairings: logan sargeant x platonic!femdriver
notes: hi i know i took forever to write this but uh what r u gonna do? ik u love me B)
| "wanna hang out?" | driver's parade | american burgers | american football | the thanksgiving incident | another williams adoptee | beating the heat | you’re embarrassing me | santa baby | the favourite driver | the situationship | it's nice to have a friend |
"remember!" toto calls out to you walking away. "back by half past three for his nap!"
you wave your arm in the air, hoisting little jack wolff on her hip. you look down at him. "wanna make a new friend, jack?"
the young boy nods excitedly, giggling and throwing his head back. "is it your new friend?"
"yeah! his name's logan!" you squeal, jumping up the stairs of the williams racing home. you put jack down to the floor and let him grab your hand, pushing the door open. "he's super cool! cooler than georgie, i reckon!"
his eyes light up at the thought. uncle george has always been cool in the eyes of little jack wolff – simply because he had made an effort to make sure that he thought of him that way. though susie argues that you are jack's favourite race car driver, always wearing the team shirt you gave him to sleep every other night.
you spot logan on the couch, scrolling away on his phone. "hey, i want you to meet someone!"
logan looks up at you first, eyes widening and lips stretching into a sweet smile. then he notices the smaller hand wrapped in yours. he tilts his head at the young boy hiding shyly behind your legs. "hey, buddy."
"this is little toto – jack!" you beam, stepping aside to present jack to logan. "i like babysitting him when he's in the paddocks, so i brought him here with me!"
"hi," jack says timidly, one hand on your thigh. "i'm jack."
"hey," logan hums, squeezing his shoulder lightly. "i'm logan."
"hi," he says again, slightly softer this time before settling to hide behind your legs again. he bundles up the material of your sweatpants in his hands and avoids logan's curious eyes.
logan looks up at you. you shrug. "he's a little shy," you whisper. you move to the side again and put jack by your side on the tiny blue couch. "i thought you were excited to meet my new friend?"
"i got shy," he giggles. he turns to logan with a smile. "are you also a race car driver? like uncle george?"
you poke jack's shoulder. "he's cooler than uncle george. logan's not a stinky boy man."
jack giggles. "you're not stinky?"
you spend the afternoon by the william's racing home with logan and jack, the four-year-old eventually opening up to play a game of football with him. to which, logan almost started debating with an actual kid about how he knows it as soccer.
but he dropped it, not wanting to confuse such a young child about the difference.
by the time three-thirty rolls around, jack is hugging logan's neck, cheek mushed into his shoulder with logan's arms under his body. "thanks for carrying him back for me," you whisper with a giggle. "he's getting very big and heavy."
logan grins. "he's very cute. i can see why you like him a lot."
"he's already sleeping," toto says slightly amused, hands on his hips by the doors that lead into the mercedes home. "i'm impressed."
"we played soccer," logan grins, leaning forward to transfer the sleeping kid into his father's arms.
"football," you correct logan with a pat on his shoulder. you grin at him. "i'll see you later at the driver's briefing, mate."
logan bids you goodbye, walking the other way as he readjusts his williams hoodie. toto grins at you, turning on his heel while you pull the door open. "i'm glad jack made a new friend. one more babysitter for me, yes?"
you shrug. "isn't it up to jack to decide if he likes being with logan?"
jack lifts his head, eyes half open with drool pooling at the corner of his mouth. "logan's my favourite driver."
toto gasps as jack drops his cheek on his shoulder again. "you converted him to a williams supporter!"
"no way! i'm supposed to be his favourite race car driver!"

So what about one of the girfriends not feeling well during the raceweeked but being stubborn about it. She ends up feeling really really poorly on race day and has to sit inside with some other wag inside hospitality or even be taken to the medical area for a bit. Maybe it's the heat or the jetlag idk,but driver ends up knowing about it after and he's worried, so he's taking care of her from them on and is grateful for their friends
Tw: sickness from heat stroke, medical visit
"I'm getting a coffee, Y/N, do you want something?", Carmen asked, "can you bring me a bottle of water, please? Cold, if possible", you asked her, seeing her nod as she got up. It was hot, that much you could say. Inside the hospitality, you were feeling okay, but the minute you set foot close to the garage, where the air outside was much more prominent, it was a different story. So, for now, you and Carmen were keeping yourselves indoor until the race started, having already wished good luck to both of your boyfriends on their race, hoping for a double Mercedes podium today.
"How did you convince Mick to let you watch the race here?", Carmen asked as she came back, handing you the cold bottle for you to place it on the nape of your neck, "I might've told him that I was fine, which I feel like I am", you said as the Spanish woman looked at you sternly, "fine-ish, but it's going to be okay, I just have to keep myself in a cooler spot, lots of water, maybe grab some ice from the catering", you joked.
Joking, however, didn't seem like such when about halfway through the race, you started having trouble in seeing the screen properly, even with your glasses on, "you're not feeling well, are you, Y/N?", Carmen asked as she got up, helping you to a cooler part of the garage, "I'm a bit dizzy", you admitted. After giving you some water and placing an ice pack on your neck and another to your wrists, you started feeling a little bit better even though you were still a bit weak.
"I think it's best if we go get you checked out", Carmen reasoned, "you're looking pale and flushed, and those two are never a good sign", she said, getting one of the media girls to help you to the medical tent hoping someone would just check if everything was fine.
"Y/N, have you been sleeping well?", the doctor asked after he took your temperature, "I've been travelling for work, and then I came here, so sleep hasn't been so easy", you clarified, "jet lag and this heat is a bad combination", he stated, "this is likely heat stroke, there's nothing else suggesting another situation, so rest up, lots of fluids, stay away from the sun as much as possible for the next few days and ice packs on your pressure and temperature points should help, too", he concluded as you nodded, thanking him.
"It looks like there might be some celebrations today, but I'd rather you stay in", he said as he showed you the final results, George and Mick getting a Mercedes 1-2 as they crossed the line.
Opting to stay in Mick's driver's room until after the podium, it didn't take long for your boyfriend to walk in, his trophy standing on Toto's counter as he checked you, "I heard what happened, are you okay?", he said, approaching you as Carmen stood back, looking for her boyfriend so she could congratulate him and give you two some privacy, "I'm fine, I just can't take the combination of hot temperatures and sleep deprivation", you smiled, hoping to soothe his worries.
Understandably, you and Mick passed on the team's dinner despite your insistence that Mick should go, "knowing Mick, he would eat very quickly and wait for the best and most polite time to come back to you, so he might as well just pass this one and we will all celebrate later when you feel better", Toto said as you smiled at his attentiveness.
"I have a bath, cool water, so we can wash the day away, I asked room service for something light for dinner and also a bucket of ice", he smiled as he helped you undress, "I know you're tired, but I promise you're going to feel better after this, liebling". Holding you with one arm under your knees and one around your back, Mick eased you into the bathtub before he got in, "don't think I won't scold you for letting me believe you were feeling better when you weren't. I'm just not going to do it now", he chuckled, kissing your shoulders as you snuggled closer to him, "thank you for looking after me", you whispered, "always, liebling, always".
(Thank you for submitting an ask 🤍)

"Despite his season threatening to fizzle out, Leclerc vowed to get on top of his troubles. Those words would not be unfulfilled as the Monegasque rebounded emphatically. Across the remaining seven rounds, Leclerc out-qualified Sainz every single time and wasn’t beaten when both drivers classified.
Leclerc registered three podiums and three pole positions to Sainz’s none, while also ending the year with five straight front-row starts. The last statistic provided perhaps the clearest indication that he was back to his swashbuckling best behind the wheel.
The exhilarating sight of Leclerc, equipped with the lowest possible fuel and fresh tyres, hurtling a car into a sequence of corners and dancing perilously close to the extremities of the track had only been on display in flashes through the first two-thirds of the season.
Leclerc’s one-lap speed prospering again proved vital to his race prospects too as it enabled him to manage his pace in clear air, tempering Ferrari’s tyre degradation issue. That was especially clear in the final round at Abu Dhabi, when Leclerc produced a stunning last-gasp qualifying effort to mitigate Ferrari’s cornering deficit to beat McLaren and Mercedes to a front-row spot.
That feat granted him the platform to control proceedings on Sunday to effortlessly caress the tyres home on the optimal strategy without threat, affording him the capacity to display racing intelligence at either end of the encounter to pick his battles wisely and prioritise the team’s goals above his race.
The season finale marked one of Leclerc’s most complete showings in F1, following on from one of his highest peak performances in Vegas that should have yielded a victory.
Despite being usurped from the line by Verstappen, Leclerc outfoxed the Dutchman in managing the Medium tyre against graining in the cooler track temperatures to become the first driver to successfully overtake a Red Bull driver for the lead in ‘23."

vro0m’s rewatch - 158/310
2015 Hungarian GP
I have a weird feeling about this one because it has much more views than the others on all the websites I've checked… anyway somehow I do have the prerace content this time so that's cool.
Tumblr media
It's round 10, so it's mid-season.
Oh. Right. That's the first race after Jules' death, 9 months after his accident. The BBC team aired a tribute at some point but I don't have it. They say on Thursday loads of drivers told them about him and their relationship to him. All the cars are sporting some sort of tribute, hashtags or messages and there will be a minute of silence before the race.
Tumblr media
Quali report. Jenson didn't make it out of Q1 for the 8th time this year. An electronic issue fucked up Alonso's quali in Q2. He tried pushing his own car back to the pits but the marshals eventually came to help and that announced the end of his runs. Ricciardo equaled his best quali this year with 4th, Kvyat is 7th. Ferrari struggled in the FPs but Seb finally found his balance and landed 3rd, Raikkonen being 5th. But of course, it's another Mercedes front row. Lewis is on pole after what is described as one of the best laps of his career. He's half a second ahead of Nico. He says it's a great feeling to have such a gap to your team-mate but it's the race that matters.
Tumblr media
So the top 10 lines up as such : Lewis, Nico, Seb, Daniel, Raikkonen, Valtteri, Kvyat, Massa, Verstappen and Grosjean.
Tumblr media
The Hungaroring is one of Lewis' lucky tracks. He's really good on it.
There's a segment about Seb and so far we don't know who will be his team-mate next year. He says he likes Raikkonen as there's no bullshit with him. According to the journalist, other names on the table might be Valtteri and Daniel.
The weather is a big topic. Apparently it was extremely hot during quali but it's now overcast and significantly cooler. The wind also changed direction from the day before. I think it rained earlier in the day as a journalist mentions "another rainshower" not far away from the track, that a weatherman has said shouldn't hit them during the race.
It's the minute of silence. All the drivers gather and set their helmets on the ground in a circle and they themselves form a circle around them, holding each other by the shoulders or the waist, with Jules' family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Someone who I guess is his brother set his helmet down with the others. Then the anthem begins but they stay there. Afterwards, a lot of the drivers hug his family, Alonso not the least.
Formation lap
And they're racing? Ah nope they're not. Delayed start, they're going for another formation lap. They were all able to leave the grid so we're unsure what that was. Oh Massa was out of position, that's why. It's under investigation.
Anyway, this time, they're racing!
Oh jesus fucking christ Lewis has an okay start but Seb is unbelievably fast and he's wheel to wheel with him straight away! Then it's the two Mercs and the two Ferraris wheel to wheel into the first corner and I'm pretty sure the order goes Seb, Nico, Raikkonen, Lewis. Seb is in the lead indeed. Behind him it's indeed Nico wheel to wheel with Raikkonen… And it's now a ferrari 1-2! Lewis is down in P4. How did this happen damn. NO LEWIS NO FUCK HE'S IN THE GRASS AND THEN IN THE GRAVEL WHAT'S WRONG? He rejoins but he lost so many places… He's P10!!! "Nico crossed over my line there, pushed me wide." Did he? Can we get a replay? Seb sets the fastest lap. Seb sets another fastest lap. Massa gets a 5 second penalty for the start. Here's the replay. Mmmh. No. Not Nico's fault. Lewis tried to squeeze in a non-existent space, that's all. Kvyat is told to not hold up Daniel who's behind him. Seb is still setting fastest lap after fastest lap.
It's lap 10. Seb, Raikkonen, Nico, Valtteri, Daniel overtakes Hulkenberg for P5, Kvyat is P7, Perez P8, and Lewis overtakes Massa for P9, with a slight touch of the rear tyres, very close, very fair little fight between these two. He instantly materialises behind Perez. Caught him in absolutely no time. Ross, Nico's engineer, starts on the radio : "Unless we can close the gap to Raikkonen–" He's interrupted by Nico, as often. "Don't tell me again. Don't tell me again, I'm trying." Now it's Max, animated : "I'm really getting held up now." Lewis overtakes a not very defensive Perez for P8. All of a sudden it's pit stop time. Massa, followed by three (?) other cars, comes in. Yes, we have Grosjean and Verstappen. Lewis is P6, as Hulkenberg pits and I guess someone else must have done so just before, then. "You're very quiet, Bono," he says. "Okay, copy that Lewis," Bono answers. "So everything's happening now so just push as hard as you can." Wait, he's actually P5? Pit stops are so confusing. Right, we have Alonso, Sainz, Hulkenberg in the pits right now. DC says Lewis is doing the same times as Seb now. Yeah he actually sets the fastest lap! Raikkonen complains he lost some parts of his front wing. That's weird. The team says they can't see anything so it must have been a small part but he says it was a big part. And indeed. It's a big part. It just didn't come from the front wing itself : it was one of his cameras. And the slow mo replay cuts directly to a contact between someone and Perez, who's sent off track facing the wrong way! He turns it around in a big cloud of white smoke and joins back. The other car involved was Maldonado's.
It's lap 20. Oh. Lewis pitted. 4.1?! Too long. He's out wheel to wheel with Valtteri! And he imposes himself in P5. Nico pits. Oh. So Lewis is now on softs, while Nico is on hards. Mmh. So let's see. Ah. I was about to recap the order but Seb comes in as well. Let's wait then. Lewis sets the fastest lap. Daniel also pitted. I think everybody did except Raikkonen who's currently in the lead. Here he comes. Okay let's recap this time. Seb back in the lead, followed by Raikkonen, Nico, Daniel, currently attacked by Lewis, Valtteri, Hulkenberg, Kvyat, Verstappen and Alonso. Lewis goes veeeery wide, but then catches up to Daniel again. "I'm so close," he says. "Can I have one more lap [of high engine performance], Bono?" – "Affirm." And it was worth it, he's up in P4.
That puts us on lap 30. Raikkonen is 7.3 behind Seb, Nico did not at all close the gap to them, he's 11.8 seconds down, and Lewis has to make up for 15 seconds to catch him. Then it's obviously Daniel, Valtteri, Hulkenberg, Kvyat, Verstappen closing in on him and Alonso. Lewis is setting fastest laps again. He's gaining very quickly on Nico, shaving 6 seconds in 5 laps. The second round of stops has started. "Lewis will be going to the prime (aka the medium) tyre, possibly earlier than you," Ross tells Nico. "I'll go to the prime as well then," he answers. "Erm, Nico at the moment the pit wall are not inclined to do that." Why would he want the medium, the softs are faster? Lewis will be at a disadvantage on the harder tyres in his last stint. Anyway, on the transcript I see they keep insisting he needs to pick up the pace. (Honestly what is up with him that season? He's doing so bad compared to 2014 and well. To 2016 even though I haven't watched it yet. He's just nowhere to be seen, it's weird. Is he tired from the 2014 fight still, some way or another? What's that about?)
On lap 40, Raikkonen is 9.7 seconds down on Seb, Nico 17 seconds further, and Lewis just 6 seconds away now, and that's with him losing time in the previous lap due to traffic. It went down to 5 seconds at some point. Oh. Raikkonen says he's losing the power. He's really losing time. OH NO THAT'S A BIG CRASH! Hulkenberg just hit the barriers head-on! There was a lot of smoke coming from behind his car but thankfully the huge tyre marks behind him show he was able to brake as much as he could before the shock. Virtual safety car. He's moving and getting out of his car. Nico pits. Lewis pits. It's slower because they had to avoid an unsafe release with all the traffic in the pitlane… But it's fine because of the VSC. In case you don't know, it means they can't overtake or close the gaps so nothing changes. Seb pits. Raikkonen pits. The safety car comes out now. Oh we get a replay of Hulkenberg's crash : it's a front wing failure. It shattered under his car. That's a lot of debris indeed. The safety car will go through the pit lane due to the amount of debris on the track.
Well well well. That makes things interesting for Lewis doesn't it? On top of it, the three cars ahead of him are actually on the same tyres as he is, the mediums.
Tony Ross to Nico : "There is a chance that we can win this, we think there is a chance we can win this. Kimi has a power unit problem, we should be able to pass him pretty quickly. We also know that Ferrari have a warm-up problem and a pace problem on the [medium] tyre." The issue, however, is that behind Lewis is Daniel, on softs. The lapped cars are released. On the transcript I read that Bono indeed warns Lewis of Daniel, and also explains that Raikkonen has an issue. In the broadcast we only hear the last part of his message : "We are racing for the win, mate." I'm so tense!!! (I also see he asked "How’s Sebastian’s pace been today?")
Safety car in this lap. Seb backs them up…
Here we go!
Daniel gets a good restart indeed and Lewis is under pressure immediately. Nico attacks Raikkonen and as the engineers said it's an easy pass indeed. LEWIS AND DANIEL TOUCHED! Daniel is going wide, Lewis has damage and Daniel gets ahead while Valtteri joins the fight. I don't think this has a good ending, my friends… Kvyat overtakes Valtteri and Lewis is off track. Kvyat overtakes him. Valtteri overtakes him. He's falling back… But Valtteri now has an issue and he's falling back much faster. It's a puncture. Lewis is about to pit.
On the replay we see he locked up on the apex and that's why he touched Daniel. Valtteri's puncture comes from a light contact with Verstappen's front wing. It's lap 50. Daniel overtakes Raikkonen for P3. Nico is only one second behind Seb. Lewis is P6, but he hasn't pitted yet. Here it comes. Oh god… P13… And the incident is under investigation… Raikkonen pits and retires…? Uhh… They did something to the car and now it's just sitting there in the box in silence with all the mechanics immobile around it. They did reset it or something? They pick the car back up off the ground and do something again. He does leave. He's P17. Nico is only half a second behind Seb now. German on German crime to come. Oh. Lewis is given a drive through penalty. That seems quite severe, I thought it'd be a time penalty. He won't score points, will he? Nico will take the WDC lead… Fuck. Bono tells him they have a drive through and will serve it this lap. "Okay," he says. The main journalist says "no argument interestingly". DC says he's a "fair racer" and knows it's correct.
Ah but wait now. Nico is again 1 second behind Seb, while Daniel is 0.7 behind him. Interesting… As a reminder, first place awards you 25 points, second place 18, third place 15. Lewis' WDC advantage is currently 17 points. Max gets a drive through for speeding while the SC was out. Raikkonen retires.
"I'm so sorry guys, really sorry," Lewis says. But of course Bono's having none of it. "Don't stress about it Lewis, 20 seconds away from some points, so let's go get them." And guess fucking what? He sets the fastest lap. Come on!
It's lap 60, 10 laps to go. Seb is 0.9 in the lead, Nico is 0.4 ahead of Daniel, Kvyat is 3 seconds further and then it's Verstappen, Alonso, Grosjean, Jenson is P8, Ericsson in P9, and Sainz in P10. Lewis is P12, just 1 second behind him, actually. The points really aren't that far. And as we saw, the WDC is close enough that it matters. Maldonado is under investigation and I think it's like, the third or fourth time this race, and he's already served 2 drive throughs. And Sainz is retiring his car! That puts Lewis even closer to the points. I hope Bono is literally chanting in his ear. Let's go let's go let's go! Here you go! P10! P9! P8! That's four points, next stop Grosjean, 5 seconds away. OH AND DANIEL LOCKS UP AS HE ATTACKS NICO AND THEY TOUCHED, HE LOSES PART OF HIS FRONT WING. Lewis is under investigation for track limits and gaining an advantage?! OH WAIT WAIT DANIEL IS STILL AHEAD BECAUSE NICO HAS A PUNCTURE!!! So much drama?! Lewis sets the fastest lap! Fucking hell how is this going to end up?
5 laps to go! Daniel is in the pits getting a new nose and new tyres. Might as well. Here comes Nico. It's quick. Daniel is still P3 but Nico… Well Nico is several cars behind Lewis! I can't believe it. Kvyat gets a 10 seconds time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. He's currently P3 and I don't think it changes anything. Ohhh that was actually. OK. So when I said Lewis was under investigation earlier it was actually Kvyat for an action ON Lewis. I didn't get that right. Lewis is attacking Grosjean.
3 laps to go. DC thinks he's careful because of Grosjean's history, he says. The incident between Daniel and Nico is under investigation. Daniel sets the fastest lap. Lewis overtakes Grosjean for P6. Maldonado gets a third penalty this race for overtaking while the SC was deployed. Daniel sets another fastest lap. Verstappen is currently P4, his best result so far.
Final lap. No further action for the Nico-Daniel collision.
And it's the end of the race!
Seb wins, ahead of Kvyat and Daniel. Lewis is P6. He keeps the WDC lead and even increases it.
Well listen. It's not the podium I was hoping for but Seb is standing on his car waving a ferrari flag while Kvyat and Daniel are hugging in the background and it's all unexpected and wholesome so why not. Once in a while. We enjoy surprises.
In the cool down room, Seb is emotional, Daniel can barely contain himself, and Kvyat looks stunned.
Seb dedicated his victory to Jules, saying they all know he would have been part of their team. In French he says, "cette victoire, c'est pour Jules." Kvyat and Daniel also say a word about him.
After the race, Lewis was handed 2 penalty points for his collision with Daniel which is. A lot. Grosjean also got 2 for an unsafe release, bringing his total to 6. Maldonado got 2 points for his accident with Perez which also brought him to a total 6, all earned within 2 months. In the Valtteri-Verstappen accident (did I even mention it? I can't remember. I'm writing this a day after I've watched the race.) the stewards concluded Verstappen "took reasonable actions to avoid contact" but still gave him 3 penalty points for speeding behind the safety car, bringing his total to 5.
I've found Lewis' BBC and NBC post race interviews.
In the BBC one, he arrives sighing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The journalist says he was in front, at the back, all over the place and asks what was going through his head during that race. He says "exactly that, I was all over the place." he chuckles softly. He says he doesn't really have words to explain what happened. He says it was a really bad performance from him, he made lots of mistakes. He says he doesn't know if it was a lack of concentration or something else. He kept trying and never gave up but there were so many obstacles along the way… He felt like he had to choose between two directions and made the wrong choice every time. There's a lot to learn from today. The journalist says even then, he managed to extend his advantage in the WDC to 21 points. He shakes his head as he listens and then says "today was incredibly bizarre." He's wondering whether he deserves the points. He looks down and shakes his head again.
Tumblr media
He says he got the points "by the grace of God". He says he needs to come back stronger after the break. (You got, like, one bad race in half a season, it's okay.) She asks how important it is for him to shut down F1 during the break and get some time to himself. He sighs heavily.
Tumblr media
He says it's easier to do when you've had a good weekend but this was one of his worst performances in a long long time. "I guess it just shows that we're all still humans," he smiles. (Lol why? Did you think you'd transcended to deity level, my love?) She says "and also that there might be a bit of luck involved in this championship once again." He agrees hesitantly, saying he generally tries not to rely on luck, just hard work. He says the team worked hard, he did everything he could, although he was "wobbly" in the race, but he regained his stability.
Let's see if he said something different to Will Buxton, who asks him about the start and first lap. He looks down. He says he doesn't really remember, "it was such a turbulent race", and a really bad day. He sighs. He again credits the "grace of God" for him getting through and getting points. Buxton says the strategy seemed to have worked very well. (Nico goes by behind him looking really weird.)
Tumblr media
Lewis says he did everything he could to get back into the fight and then the restart after the safety car, he "ran out of grip", he just shakes his head. He says he really doesn't have much to say except he couldn't really avoid it at the time, and fortunately he didn't take any other driver out. Buxton says it was exciting to watch from the trackside but he guess not so from inside the car. He hums. He says it hurts when you make mistakes that affect the team, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
Now I also have the skysports interview. He says the start wasn't that tricky, the Ferraris obviously got a good start and uhhh– "yeah what a day, jeez… That was a…" he chuckles. "That was a hard afternoon."
Tumblr media
She says given how difficult it's been he must be fairly relieved he didn't finish out of the points or with a DNF, particularly given what happened to Nico as well. In terms of the world championship, she adds as he looks slightly confused. He says to be honest he hasn't even thought about it yet so he doesn't feel particularly relieved. He just thinks he had a bad day in the office. A very bad day in the office. But he's grateful for the work of the team that at least allowed him to get some points. She says we've heard him say sorry to the team, what specifically did he regret. "Uh… The race."
Tumblr media
"The whole race? You take full blame for it?"
Tumblr media
"Yep." He doesn't elaborate. She says he can have a nice break at least. He sighs and says he's looking forward to it with an uncomfortable chuckle.
We also hear from Niki. He congratulates Ferrari on their perfect starts. He thinks their team made a mistake on that because both cars didn't get off the way they should. Lewis was super aggressive, "too aggressive". And in the end the Ricciardo incident was a race incident because nobody did anything. Ferrari was the best, the result from Mercedes is not good, but that's normal. Ted says not a complete catastrophe either, the results are tight but it's not so bad. Niki says it's normal racing life for him. What they've had last year was a surprise. This is normal racing and they have to react to these problems and keep fighting.
Ted says Toto being a gentleman he'll surely forgive Ferrari for their celebration on an emotional weekend (unsure what he's referring to). Toto says with a smirk he first has to get over his crappy day, and then he'll give his congratulations to Ferrari. They deserved it, sensational start, they had the pace. He thinks they've had more incidents in one race than throughout the whole season. They knew this day would come. He says they didn't start well, they were compromised with their pace on Nico's car and Lewis and Nico had issues on lap one and so they were on the back foot. They tried to calm the situation down but it didn't help that there was a VSC at the wrong time. And Lewis made a mistake with Ricciardo and then there was a questionable incident between Ricciardo and Nico. But all in all an exciting race for the fans and a bad one for them. Ted asks what he thinks was questionable. Does he not think maybe Nico misjudged and moved across too quickly? He says from what he's seen it was more Ricciardo's mistake but Charlie decided it wasn't. So that's it.
That's it for today!

The Impact of Delhi's Traffic on Mercedes Car Health
Delhi, with its bustling streets and constant traffic jams, presents unique challenges for car owners. For luxury vehicle owners, such as those driving a Mercedes, the city's traffic conditions can significantly impact their car's health. Understanding these impacts and taking proactive measures can help maintain the performance and longevity of your Mercedes. This article explores how Delhi's traffic affects Mercedes cars and highlights the importance of timely Mercedes car repair in Delhi.
1. Frequent Stop-and-Go Driving
Impact: The constant stop-and-go nature of Delhi's traffic can cause excessive wear and tear on various components of a Mercedes. The braking system, in particular, takes a heavy toll due to the frequent need to stop abruptly. This can lead to faster deterioration of brake pads, rotors, and even the brake fluid.
Solution: Regularly check and maintain the braking system. Ensure that brake pads and rotors are inspected frequently and replaced when necessary. Consider using high-performance brake pads designed for luxury cars like Mercedes, which can withstand higher levels of stress and heat. For professional assistance, seek Mercedes car repair in Delhi to ensure quality and reliable service.
2. Engine Overheating
Impact: Prolonged idling in heavy traffic can cause the engine to overheat. Mercedes cars, like all vehicles, rely on airflow to cool the engine, and sitting in traffic can restrict this airflow, leading to overheating.
Solution: Keep an eye on the temperature gauge and avoid prolonged idling whenever possible. Ensure your cooling system is in top condition by regularly checking coolant levels and having the radiator, thermostat, and water pump inspected during routine maintenance. If issues arise, Mercedes car repair in Delhi can provide specialized cooling system services.
3. Increased Wear on the Transmission
Impact: Frequent shifting between gears in stop-and-go traffic puts additional strain on the transmission system. For automatic transmissions, this can lead to overheating and increased wear on the transmission fluid and components.
Solution: Regularly service the transmission system, including changing the transmission fluid at recommended intervals. For automatic transmissions, consider installing a transmission cooler to help manage the additional heat generated in heavy traffic conditions. Trusting Mercedes car repair in Delhi ensures your transmission is serviced by experts familiar with your vehicle's needs.
4. Suspension and Steering Stress
Impact: Navigating through Delhi's pothole-ridden roads and uneven surfaces can cause significant stress on a Mercedes' suspension and steering systems. Over time, this can lead to misalignment, worn-out suspension components, and a less comfortable ride.
Solution: Have the suspension and steering systems checked regularly. Ensure that shock absorbers, struts, and bushings are in good condition and replace them as needed. Regular wheel alignments can also help maintain a smooth and stable ride. Professional Mercedes car repair in Delhi can help maintain these critical systems.
5. Impact on Fuel Efficiency
Impact: The frequent stopping, idling, and slow-moving traffic can drastically reduce fuel efficiency. Mercedes cars, known for their performance, may end up consuming more fuel in heavy traffic conditions, leading to higher running costs.
Solution: To improve fuel efficiency, ensure your Mercedes is well-maintained with regular oil changes, air filter replacements, and spark plug inspections. Using high-quality fuel and keeping tires properly inflated can also contribute to better fuel economy. Regular visits to Mercedes car repair in Delhi can help keep your vehicle in optimal condition, reducing fuel consumption.
6. Air Conditioning Strain
Impact: The need to keep the air conditioning running continuously in Delhi's hot and humid climate, especially when stuck in traffic, can strain the AC system. This can lead to faster wear of components such as the compressor, refrigerant, and belts.
Solution: Regularly service the AC system to ensure it functions efficiently. Check refrigerant levels and have the system inspected for leaks. Consider using window shades and parking in shaded areas to reduce the load on the AC system when you start driving. For any AC issues, Mercedes car repair in Delhi offers specialized services to keep your system running smoothly.
7. Exterior and Interior Wear
Impact: Delhi's pollution and dust can accumulate on the exterior and interior of the car, leading to paint damage and a dirty cabin. Constant exposure to these elements can deteriorate the car's aesthetics and affect the interior air quality.
Solution: Regularly wash and wax your Mercedes to protect the paint and clear off accumulated dirt and pollutants. Clean the interior frequently, including the air vents and filters, to maintain a healthy cabin environment. Using car covers when parked can also protect the vehicle from dust and pollution. For thorough cleaning and detailing, consider professional Mercedes car repair in Delhi.
Conclusion
Delhi's traffic conditions pose significant challenges for maintaining the health of a Mercedes car. However, with regular maintenance and proactive measures, you can mitigate these effects and ensure your luxury vehicle continues to perform at its best. By paying attention to the specific impacts of heavy traffic and taking steps to address them, Mercedes owners in Delhi can enjoy a smoother, more reliable driving experience. Regular check-ups and timely repairs not only preserve the car's performance but also enhance its longevity, ensuring that your investment in a Mercedes remains worthwhile. For all your needs, professional Mercedes car repair in Delhi is essential to keep these advanced systems running smoothly.

A new 3 row Electric SUV that starts well under $60K from Our Auto Expert on Vimeo.
In a bold stride into the future, Kia has unveiled the EV9, a trailblazing all-electric SUV that not only redefines the landscape of eco-friendly transportation but also sets a new benchmark in the SUV segment. This remarkable vehicle is not just a new model; it's a statement of Kia's technological prowess and vision for a sustainable future.
The EV9 is a marvel of design and engineering, embodying the philosophy of "Opposites United." This design approach merges traditional Kia SUV elements with a futuristic, eco-friendly aesthetic. The result is a vehicle that stands out with its distinctive style, setting it apart from anything else on the road.
Kia's commitment to electrification is evident in their ambitious goal: by 2027, seven dedicated EV models will grace the roads, with a projection that 70% of their sales will be electrified vehicles by 2030. The EV9 is not just a part of this strategy; it's the spearhead.
It's not just the exterior that impresses. The interior of the EV9 is a haven of innovation and luxury. Dual 12.3-inch displays dominate the dashboard, providing a seamless and intuitive interface for the driver. The incorporation of integrated haptic switches enhances the user experience, offering a level of interaction that is both futuristic and practical.
The EV9 excels in providing comfort too. It boasts the best-in-class second-row legroom and features special electric second-row captain's chairs with heating and cooling options. This level of comfort is usually reserved for ultra-luxury SUVs, making the EV9 a class above its competitors.
Performance-wise, the EV9 is no slouch. With a potential 379 horsepower, this SUV can go from 0-60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds. The option of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, with single or dual motors, provides flexibility and power to suit any driving preference. Its impressive towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. Is a testament to its strength and capability.
Kia has also thoughtfully considered the practical aspects of EV ownership. The EV9 can charge from 10-80% in just 25 minutes with a Level 3 charger. Moreover, it comes with a heat pump to preserve battery range in cooler weather and even offers the ability to power your home or campsite with 1920 watts of power.
But it's not just about the car. Kia is innovating in customer experience as well. The EV9 introduces a new cockpit-connected car navigation system with over-the-air updates. Kia is future-proofing its vehicles, making them customizable and personalizable with a digital interface that can be continuously updated and improved.

Audi Le Mans Quattro (Prototype, 2003)
This fascinating driving machine is a synthesis of the experience gained from numerous racing triumphs, allied to advanced design and Audi’s technical competence – which has in turn become synonymous for Audi’s technological leadership (Vorsprung durch Technik) on the racetrack and the road alike. A flow of power as if from a turbine, a high maximum torque curve and a fascinating sound: the basic features of a perfect sports-car engine. This 5.0-litre V10 engine with its twin turbochargers is just as fascinating in the potential it offers as in its suitability for day-to-day use. Its bite in every operating range and its unrivalled willingness to rev up to high speeds are truly impressive. This ten-cylinder engine has 40 valves, operated by four overhead camshafts. Both the inlet and exhaust valves have continuously variable opening periods to ensure optimum gas flow in all engine-speed ranges. Two turbochargers driven from the exhaust and located behind the engine boost the pressure of the combustion air to a maximum of 2.0 bar before it is forced into the engine. The charge-air intercoolers are mounted above the engine. They are fed with air through an inlet on the body side and have an additional low-temperature cooling water circuit. The two oil coolers are at the side of the engine, well positioned in the airflow behind the side inlets. As a result of these careful design measures, the engine can develop an impressive 449 kW (610 bhp). A big contribution to this formidable output is made by the direct petrol injection (FSI) system. FSI combines outstandingly efficient power output with highly efficient combustion of the fuel.In the Audi Le Mans quattro the ten-cylinder biturbo FSI engine is particularly pleasant on account of its willingness to rev freely and its lusty pulling power at all engine speeds. The maximum torque of 750 Newton-metres is available within an exceptionally broad engine-speed range from 1,750 to 5,800 rpm, so that unnecessarily frequent gear changes are avoided.
Note: Some years later, and pressured by the Mercedes SLR or the Porsche Carrera GT, Audi decided to fight its rivals with the AUDI R8 5.2 QUATTRO V10 PLUS.

Hey, Caro, can you please introduce us to that sweet beau, Lewis Hamilton?? He's a speed driver, right??
lemme talk about this champ and beautiful man — he is a must-know.
Tumblr media
lewis hamilton is a speed driver: in fact, the best racer in the world. with the fastest formula 1 lap in all history, and: if he wins this season (which has just started last week, your timing to get into this is perfect), lewis can boast a whopping 8 world championships. in short: you’re asking about the right guy. let’s go.
Tumblr media
so i repeat, he won seven years (yeah, he’s a capricorn). which equals the current record holder, mister michael schumacher himself, i’m sure you heard of him. so, about time all the world knows more about this stunner as well, sir lewis carl davidson hamilton
Tumblr media
lewis is so good and works his butt off so hard, he has more titles — he was knighted last year — and gigantic trophies than he can carry. since we’re talking f1 where drivers have to be light and agile inside the car, lewis is of course gloriously tiny, 5′7. so, the exhausted british short king on your news and twitter feed who walks around like this on a podium after doing 300 kilometers+ is dead sure to be him. can’t miss the guy.
Tumblr media
wanna know more? lewis is an allrounder in every field and does everything what people say he can’t. unless he’s not somewhere modelling clothes being gorgeous (he collabs with tommy hilfiger for sustainable unisex collections)...
Tumblr media
... taking care of his nieces or godson steve which regulary melts the f1 community...
Tumblr media
... is using his favorite little scooter...
Tumblr media
... showing up at the met gala as one of the few guys who really get the gist looking beautiful as always...
Tumblr media
... playing with his cute crinkly bulldog roscoe who’s always by his side and F1′s most famously beloved driver pet...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...doing the absolute most with his activism and veganism — he even created his own plant-based restaurant chain — because as i said he’s a king, lewis never shies from taking a stand even if a lot of people hate him for it because it’s a white-dominated sport...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...or posts inspirational things that make you believe in yourself...
Tumblr media
...lewis drives, can you guess:
Tumblr media
for mercedes!
the #1 team which usually only red bull can currently challenge. which means he has a sexy, shiny, impossibly fantastic car — with his lucky number 44, that’s how you can spot it — that is almost always leading the field. if you see this on your sports tv channel on a saturday (qualifying) or sunday (race day), i assure you it’s lewis. 44, glossy black car, pole position, check. a great talent in a perfect car equals one hell of a winning streak.
Tumblr media
— but if you ask me, the man is even sexier, cooler, and cuter and the real highlight. just so we’re clear on this. lewis is always a breath of fresh air. believe it or not: this guy is 35 (!!) years old. needless to say, prettiest fashion icon on the grid. and yes, he has amazing hair and tattoos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
killing it. 👍 lewis brings a presence to the grid.
Tumblr media
who’s he making proud, then? now some notes on his circle, the people you spot him with.
family hamilton first, who do we have:
Tumblr media
dad anthony, lewis’ former manager. at one point he worked 4 jobs so lewis could start his career in karting. carmen, his mom. linda, his stepmom, pictured below. his brother, nicolas, also a race driver. nicolas has a disability (cerebral palsy), he competes in the uk touring championship with a modified car since 2015. like nicolas, lewis is the only (!) black driver in his tournament and they are frequently sending out very important messages about it.
Tumblr media
now for mercedes: accompanied he is by the calm and collected finnish valtteri bottas as his taciturn team colleague and runner-up champion. valtteri is the type to sit in a north pole sauna, lewis is ever-active, so they balance each other well. no trouble there, they’re a cool duo.
Tumblr media
and i’m not kidding, valtteri is truly finnish. this is his twitter, summarized:
Tumblr media
add the smart, austrian mercedes boss toto wolff who has the best height difference to him. these two get along very jokingly. where lewis goes, toto is not far. very dynamic duo, this is the success factory of formula 1.
Tumblr media
while his most competitive love-hate relationship sparking the famous ‘silver war’ was retired german champion nico rosberg since day one. who came from priviledged backgrounds while lewis did not, they are the biggest team rivals of recent f1 times and people still talk about it. the ups and downs were huge but they sure had tremendous times as friends.
Tumblr media
while the most smooth and consistent relationship — besides with roscoe — has got to be his bond with his whirlwind assistent/physio angela cullen!
Tumblr media
lewis credits her for so much and treats her reveringly. you haven’t seen anything like this, they are glued to each other.
Tumblr media
lewis’ off-grid relationships come and go because he’s so busy, colleagues come and go all the time, but angela stays a constant. so if you’re asking about who the most important woman on the circuit is to lewis, that is his personal angel(a) indeed. look how wholesome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i mean, a picture says it all.
Tumblr media
last but not least. lewis’ best ever friend is german driver sebastian vettel (formerly ferrari, now aston martin, struggling a lot currently :/), former 4-time world champion. these two are THE match made in heaven and support goals. seb has the humor, lewis has the cheekiness, seb is a father, lewis has his uncle duties, it just fits. everybody should have a seb to their lewis.
Tumblr media
(^this is vet having hurried to be the first one to congratulate lewis on his latest championship win)
Tumblr media
so now you know more about sir lewis carl davidson hamilton! you will hear a lot from him this season, he’ll continue to champion many a cause, and be in the fast lane as always.

💢😨🍓🍁✂️🌈❤️ for mercedes or océane? (or both, whatever you feel like!) :3
hi!! this is for my girl mercedes!
💢: what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?
mercedes has a bit of a general ‘it is what it is’ mentality, sort of to her detriment. especially within her pathfinder role it can get a little…annoying…to watch her just Not care about certain things? (or anything really). she doesn’t care about the chain of command, or listening to director tann, or this or that. she’s impulsive and reckless and leads by her heart but is also super evasive about her own emotions so trying to have a real conversation with her can be pretty difficult. (which is a fun juxtaposition with jaal, bc he’s very open and earnest).
😨: when scared, do they go into "flight" or "fight"?
i would say flight in the realm of emotional vulnerability, but fight any other time. mercedes doesn’t really do deep connections with people, so she is quite afraid of that vulnerability & trust with another person—and when she does get afraid, she leaves. she runs for the hills. (her past relationships, while meaningful in their own right, never really went very far because of her own detachment). however in the realm of solid, tangible (fightable) fear? she’s ready for combat. if she can touch it, and she knows it’s real.
🍓: do they eat their fruit & veg? what is their favourite fruit or vegetable?
oh for sure. she’s not really a picky eater, so anything’s on the table. but specifically, she is definitely an orange girl.
🍁: what is their favourite season? why?
she definitely loves fall. something about the cooler air.
✂️: what is the "last straw" for them to cut someone out of their life? how easily do they let go of people?
it is very easy for her to cut people out. she doesn’t stick around with people for very long. that, and she’s definitely the black sheep of the family, so even her brother and her father were cut out for a little while. but while it’s easy for her to do so, these people definitely linger in her mind, and so it’s not usually a clean break. as for a last straw, a general unwillingness to accept her for who she is not for what she could be, is grounds for a break in the relationship whatever it may be.
🌈: what advice would they give to their younger self?
“Slow down. This isn’t a race to the finish, you have nothing to prove to anyone—least of all Dad.” (actually, garrus & mercy probably bond over daddy issues)
❤️: their love language(s)?
acts of service & physical touch!

Audi A8 2022
2022 Audi A8 First Look: A Sharpened Up Luxury Sedan
Audi recently unveiled a mildly updated A8 luxury sedan for the global market, which we expect will be heading to the U.S., too. Essentially a mid-cycle refresh of the fourth-generation A8, changes to the flagship four-door include new headlights, a revised grille, and standard OLED taillights.
At first glance, you'll notice the 2022 Audi A8 wears a more dynamic front end design that adds personality to its overall—dare we say it—uninteresting profile. Newly shaped headlights using Audi's Digital Matrix LED technology with 1.3 million micromirrors sit astride a widened grille. Adding depth, the lower edge of the sophisticated headlights creates a contour above the side air intakes that are now upright.
The A8's rear gets new OLED (organic LED) taillights, as well. S8 models have three different light signature styles, while all other variants offer up two. If you select the "Dynamic" drive mode in the S8, the rear lights will switch to an expanded, Dynamic-exclusive signature. Another nifty function is the proximity indication feature; when other vehicles pull within 6.6 feet of the back of a stationary A8, this function activates all the OLED segments to give the other driver a heads-up. Moreover, additional functions consist of dynamic turn signals and distinct sequences for coming and leaving home.
Audi now offers the S appearance package on the A8. For a sportier and bolder look—because you can never have too much dynamism on a huge sedan—customers can combine the optional S and black appearance packages. Those who want embellishments that stand out will probably prefer the chrome package. New exterior paint color options include metallic District Green, Firmament Blue, Manhattan Gray, and Ultra Blue.
The lavishly appointed interior comes well equipped and is fully configurable with high-grade materials and a range of seat layouts and equipment. The techy cabin utilizes Audi's MMI system and has two touchscreens: a 10.1-inch infotainment and an 8.6-inch screen for climate settings. An all-digital virtual cockpit—Audi-speak for a digital gauge cluster—directly facing the driver takes navigation to the next level. Audiophiles will enjoy listening to highly curated playlists on the 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Things are a lot fancier in the rear compartment, especially in A8 L models. The range-topping A8, featuring options galore, comes with a stretched-out center console and a footrest that can massage and heat your feet.
In these top-dog A8s, rear passengers can stream their favorite content on 10.1-inch screens fitted to the front seatbacks, relax with a body massage, and grab a cold beverage from the built-in cooler. Fold-out tables and an air quality package that includes a fragrance system are also optional. Four-zone automatic air conditioning, along with power adjustable seats and headrests put the "c" in comfort.
And if you haven't heard, there is an ultra-luxurious A8 edition that will go on sale in China only, taking the stage at this year's Guangzhou Auto Show. The A8 L Horch, as it's named, is directly aimed at the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and has an extended wheelbase and a posh interior practically spewing opulence. We're talking soft mini throw pillows, diamond-pattern quilting, embossed logos, deep-pile floor mats, an expanded panoramic roof; you get the picture.
The A8's U.S.-market powertrain choices are likely to remain the same, including a mild-hybrid V-6 and the powerful twin-turbo V-8 producing 563 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The refreshed 2022 Audi A8 goes on sale in Europe in December. Based on current exchange rates, it will start at $115,000 and approximately $168,000 for the S variant.

ok, i have no intention of contradicting you or anything, but you once told me, when i asked why mercedes has a hard time overtaking, that the mercedes was designed to be in the lead.
so why did Lewis so easily overtake everyone today?
Okay so usually Merc overheats a lot in traffic and you could tell at some points Lewis did have some trouble following, I mean he should have easily been able to overtake Fernando, regardless of what Fernando was doing.
The track temperature was a little cooler today, because of the rain so the Mercedes overheating issues that come when it’s following in dirty air weren’t as apparent.
Also a lot of the cars that he had to overtake were significantly slower than the Mercedes, this meant that he was able to make up a lot of time when in clean air and then whilst he might have some issue following for a few laps, the over speed that the Mercedes had in comparison to what are usually midfield or back marker cars allowed him to overtake.
There was also the case that a lot of the cars didn’t want to ruin their strategy by fighting with a Mercedes that is significantly faster than them as if they ruined their tyres or spent too long fighting Lewis there’s a chance that they could have been overtaken by their own competitors.
