Okay, people, it’s blabla time! o/ If you’ve got something important to do, feel free to run away. XDÂ
Well, times ago, you discovered a clone medic you’ve never seen before: Rash (he was working side by side with Kix to make some surgery on Hardcase and lived the worst fear of his life. :D). I told you that I’ll talk about him later and this time has come.Â
So, who Rash is?Â
He’s the clone medic officer of the 327th
I imagined him like the Dr Gentil from Atlantis: a sweet and serene giant with a serious sense of humour and a black belt on irony, but serious when the time comes.
As many clones, he named himself when he was a kid. When he first heard the word “rash”, he found it awesome. For him, it was closed to “dash” and he imagined it was a synonym of “quick/fast/rapidity” (something linked to speed). He was wrong, but when he discovered the true meaning of the word, he laught and found it quite appropriate for a futur medic clone.Â
He tatooed his torso when he entered the 327th, making fun of his own innocence. =)
He braided his hair because he didn’t want to shave them but he needed a practical haircut for the battlefield.Â
Did you remember my last post when I asked you about the blood group of the clones? It was for this character.Â
I never spoke about him, but I needed this character for my AU A few inches below.Â
So, who is Fungus?
He’s the clone medic officer of the 104th (another wolf in the Wolf Pack)
Fungus has wall eyes: the right is light blue and the left one is brown.Â
Fungus is serious. All the time. He has no sense of humour (or really, really bad).
As Rash, Fungus named himself when he was a kid. He found that “fungus” was quite a classy word and picked it up for him. As an adult, he still find it classier than “mushroom” (but no one in the 104th try to call him that way because of his ability to make them suffer, a lot. Except Sinker, because he is a douchey (to be polite)).
When he was still a cadet, he was sent on a mission with other cadets by the Kaminoans. The batch was attacked by some huge creatures and one of them walked on him, almost crushing his skull. Back to Tipoca City, the Kaminoans did a blood infusion to him, but they didn’t use the right blood type and he almost died (he was saved by an older clone medic). He survived to this serious injury and kept a scar on his face. Â
Fungus never knew if they did it on purpose because of his eyes (for Kaminoans, he was clearly a defective clone), but he was so afraid to live the same experience that he tatooed his blood group on his forehead.
And now, it’s time for some scientific-ness (or almost. XD).Â
Well, with this idea of Fungus and his blood type tatoo, I needed to know more about this point (that why I asked you). I’m not sure if there is a canonical information about that (it’s quite specific actually), but following @purgedtroopercody suggestion, I made some researches on other blood types than the classical A/B/AB/O.
Using this really useful post  , I started to draw all the known blood types in Aurebesh (because Fungus wanted this information to be understand by the major part of the universe) and I picked up the ones I prefered the most, on a mere aesthetic point of view.Â
(Don’t try to read my awful handwriting, it will burn your eyes. XD)
For you to understand my choice, as it was supposed to be a tatoo on the forehead, I needed something quite short (no more than 3 symbols). And I also needed something that pleased my eyes. I really loved the C and the S symbols, but the harmony of the MER pleased me more.Â
I tried to mixed it up with another central letter (S, C and H), but in the end, the best one was still the original one. :D
You have to know that IRL, the Raph system is supposed to be coded MER2. But in French, it’s not a smart choice of combination and adding the 2 after the three letters on the tatoo was too much. So, it’s only MER (+ or -).Â
Reading more about the blood types, I discovered that some MER2- people produce a shorter protein responsible of kidney failure, deafness and another illness I can’t really translate (but it doesn’t seem good). Nothing cool I could use for my clone.Â
So I made some other researches on wall eyes and I discovered that it could be one of the symptoms of an illness: the Waardenburg syndrom. A disease with very peculiar consequences: deafness and pigmentation anomalies on eyes, skin and hair (I bet you already get where I’ll go).Â
Yes, I decided to make a mix-up between this disease (turning it into something more common), what we know about the Mandalorians (in TCW show, with many blond and light blue eyed people) and the blood group.Â
In the end, most of the clones are MER+ (with the phenotype we all know) but some of them are MER- and present some pigmentation anomalies with wall eyes (like Fungus but also one of Slick’s guys), blue eyes (we saw many of them during the show), blond hair (Rex) or blond hair and blue eyes (one of Cody’s guys I can’t remember his name right now). No kidney failure, no deafness and no change in skin tone (not known linked to the blood type actually). Not all MER- clones have pigmentation anomalies, only the ones producing the shorter protein (but all the clones who don’t stick to Jango Fett phenotype are MER-).Â
(Of course, skin tone, hair and eyes colors are not fully connected to the blood type. Many other things are involved in it (like DNA). Blood type is just one link in the long chain ending in the many phenotypes we saw in the show.)Â Â
And that’s all folks. I don’t know if you will read this huge post, but it’s okay. I just needed to put this somewhere. XD

“Let go of him immediately.” One of the armed humans stated, voice dark and angry.
Scar ignored them, bringing his hand to the back of Grian’s head and lightly applying pressure so that his nose was up against his neck.

He nodded. And then he was being very gently set into a car. Towels were wrapped snug around him, keeping him from getting the seat wet and helping preserve his body heat. Skizz placed a hand on his head, a soft and...concerned? Look on his face.Â
