Inanimate Insanity Pokemon AU! (by Lycan)

In this AU, Cobbs is the current head of the Aether Foundation after Lusamine goes missing. He starts working on a project to make the "perfect fusion", resulting in the Mephones.

More AU stuff under the cut!

The events of Infinite Fusion are canon and it takes place in Alola. The floor is a lesser island far off the coast of Poni Island.

In this specific AU there's a distinction between Pokemon, Pokepeople and Humans. Pokepeople are sapient like humans but are pokemon.

The only 'true' pokemon are Baxter and Clover's butterflies. A Dwebble and various butterfly pokemon respectively.

Most of the Mephones are Eevee fusions, being the easiest to fuse together due to their volatile DNA. Cobs is aiming to make Tri Type pokemon specifically out of ultrabeasts. Like Lusamine he sees them as perfect and divine, but disregards their autonomy.

The First Law of Robotics as it Applies to Meeple Products (Theory)

Hello everyone!!!^^ I had a little think about how the big 3 robot rules applied to our beloved meeplings, and wanted to share my theory!! Please enjoy!!! :)

The first law out of all three is what this theory is really about. So let's look at what it is real quick!

As per this law, our Meeplings would not be able to harm living objects, yeah? And, even for ii in which we don't see many naturally living objects (more on how this applies to our contestants at the end), there is one very important exception. Steve Cobs.

During the fight in the finale, it is only the ghosts that actually attack Cobs. Neither Mepad nor Mephone4 make any sort of move to actually strike him, and while yes, Mepad lacks the arms to easily do so and Mephone4 was scared out of his mind, there is no action on either of their parts to harm him. Not even Mephone4's talking hand actually got any sort of hit on Cobs. Mepad didn't attempt to teleport (though whether or not he had the energy to do so is debatable; though he did teleport himself during the fight) nor try to kick him or even just knock Cobs over with his larger size while he was distracted.

And this is all as Cobs is actively trying to stab them. No one is having a good time here!!! Even though the outnumber Cobs, neither of them make an attempt to even immobilize him temporarily, to buy time for the contestants and themselves.

And, as the first law says, I believe the reason for this is that they're physically unable to do any harm to Cobs. It is hard-programmed into them that under no circumstances may they harm a "human," or in our case, living object. And if we take a quick look at the third law of robotics:

...then we can see that they wouldn't be able to protect their own lives because of it. All they can do is dodge and run, because they're incapable of doing anything that could actually harm Cobs.

I would like to comment that this adds to the feelings of powerlessness from Mephone4 towards Cobs!!! Of course he'd go hide in a closet or a cave, and wipe his memories. Because he'll never be able to fight back.

Bonus Round: Does this law apply to the contestants?

No.

Mephone certainly eases up on harming the contestants as we get on with the show, but he is very much capable of harming them, meaning Mepad can also be assumed to have that capability. Cobs doesn't consider them actual living people, so I doubt their internal coding would either. They'd probably be viewed as like... fellow computer programs, maybe? Nonliving beings? Doesn't particularly matter, as long as it's not living object. Even if the Meeplings consciously consider the contestants to be equal, living beings, their programming wouldn't change with their thoughts.

I analyzed every. Single. frame of the trailer, and came to some conclusions.

Scene 10.

I’ve noticed that there are 3 (4?) people missing. Goo, soap, and yin yang. Due to mic yelling “Soap? Where are you, Soap?!” In episode 16 and the creators being silent on people asking whether YinYang will be okay in ii 17, I’ve deduced they MIGHT be deleted. Goo is unknown. (MY BABYYYY-)

Scene 29.

Knife and suitcase are going to have to fight. But the best-case scenario would either be:

1: Pausing, talking, and fighting back together.

2: Finding a way out together.

Notice how they have to cooperate to escape. Well, it’s because Cobs wants them to fight. And to fight back against him, they must work together. Suitcase would most likely be the cause of getting knife to work with her because…

Scenes 17, 14

Knife is clearly upset and arrogant. He would be more likely to be focusing of getting out and winning. Suitcase, however, seems worried for him. Maybe they can have a chance to chat and possibly find a way out by cooperation? Only if they know what’s coming because…

Scene 21.

Does suitcase react like this because she finds out that knife and her will have to fight? She can only convince knife to not follow through ONLY if she knows what’s coming. This will be likely because…

Scene 11.

They were detained and thrown into an asylum. Cobs looks very pissed. They might have a talk about “hey… what the hell are you doing” and that might be the time where cobs will bring up that they will fight, going back to suitcase trying to talk knife out of it.

Moving on..

Scenes 7 and 22.

The top two are both scene 7. It appears that Mepad so having a talk with Mephone about how he is too chicken and needs to stand up for himself. I know that mepad is, indeed, talking to Mephone because their backgrounds align. The door faces the entrance to hotel oj, and the door to the kitchen (plus the fact that candle pushed the couch to the wall, seen in scene 10), face the main door. But i truly don’t know what they are talking about, so I’m making educated guesses.

I can only post so many images on mobile, so from here on, it will be bullet points!

Lightbulb seems to be breaking character. There are some scenes where she is seen panicking, yelling and being tough. She’s coming around to realize that this situation is dire, and needs a serious attitude to handle. Though, in the scene where she is seen with the pen and Baxter, I think she’s running to find paintbrush, being reminded that her friend might be endangered.

Cobs might have taken over inanimate insanity (show-wise) and broadcasting the finale on television. Remember in episode sixteen where he wanted the show to have a “proper” ending? That’s the case with the fighting pit. He wants everyone to see that this is what inanimate insanity is by showing the grand finale off. This may be true because there is a second in the trailer where someone in Hotel OJ picked up the tv remote.

Someone in purgatory mansion might be getting killed soon. In the trailer, we see MephoneX in front of the mansion, and I think our victims might be paintbrush or test tube. It might be paintbrush because we see lightbulb calling for someone, and running panicked. The person she would be that panicked for is paintbrush. But it could be test tube because she’s been trying to figure out what is going on and where’s the egg. She’s smart enough to see the truth.

Lastly, something minor. Paper would’ve been yelling at salt for something OJ-related. Maybe salt said something offensive, which caused paper to snap.

Everything here is speculation and educated guesses. We still have a bunch of questions that need answers, like where is Goo, Soap, and YinYang? Will taco make amends with pickle? Will Mephone3gs finally come out of the closet? Will Mephone4 face Cobs in person? What is the Me? Maybe things won’t go as planned…

But hey! That’s just a theory! An Inanimate Insanity theory! Aaaaand scene.

so basically, after mepad (Ebonyspark), Cobs switched from cats to dogs because his stupid ass cats woukd not listen for shit (first two died, 3GS has been locked in the closet for god knows how long, Buzzingstar and Ebonyspark ran away, and Redshadow died. he cannot catch a break with these cats)

So every character after Ebonyspark (5S + 5C and beyond) are all dogs. The difference with MephoneX though is that X is a literal hellhound that can suck the life out of living things and only appear to said specific thing. Where Cobs acquired a hellhound is not information i am allowed to disclose (Just go with it guys. id ont know)
