FINAL ROUND-UP ❤️🔥
Here are the last submissions to the first edition of the Sith Obikin Fest! In total we received over 40 works🔥
Stay tuned for our next announcements / thank-yous and a very exciting project coming SOON!
• Birth Astride A Grave (a play in two acts) by nngi_e
After his defeat on the fiery shores of Mustafar, a captive Obi-Wan Kenobi receives four visitors in the darkness of his cell:
a beloved Master long gone,
a beautiful Queen shrouded in blue,
a cruel Shadow covered in scars,
and the Sun at the center of it all.
• Vader Closes In by ArtisticlyBeautiful
Vader finds Obi-Wan in his cave on Tatooine. He will do whatever it takes for Obi-Wan to feel the heartache he has to live with now.
Set during the Kenobi series.
DW: Non-con, bottom obi-wan, ruthless vader
DNW: Piss, sweetness
• Three Measures of Blood by your cheap thrills (eurosthewanderer)
Sith! Obi-Wan stumbles upon a boy in his travels and instantly feels his great potential in the Force.
He snatches Anakin before anyone else can and proceeds to teach him the ways of the Dark Side.
DW: Go wild. Anything like the Jedi Quest or Rogue Planet, but they are both Sith. Perfect excuse to dive into the Sith lore and create their practices. You can make it as long as you want with Anakin of any age. But the world-building of the Sith is essential.
DNW: Only brief mentions of the teachings. Seriously, you can make it as wild as you can, but details are essential.
• wild animals i have known by travellingcircus
Reverse age AU - Set whenever
Sith Obi-Wan (wild and borderline feral), Jedi Master Anakin (always toeing the line of being a darksider but never falling)
Really I just want sith Obi-Wan to call jedi Anakin daddy (no age play). A plot would be nice, but I am far too happy with nothing but smut.
DW: Daddy kink, possessiveness, obsession, top Anakin, bottom Obi-Wan, they're disgustingly cute about each other but not in a healthy way
DNW: piss, scat, vomit, age play, omegaverse, unhappy ending, major character death
• Rage, rage against the dying of the light by Golden_Daffodils
Palpatine miscalculates. Killing Obi-Wan Kenobi is the reason Anakin falls, but he did not expect the boy to rebel and try to kill him in return when Anakin learns who he is and his role in Obi-Wan's death.
Would love a angst filled fic, with Anakin falling because Obi-Wan is dead, as Palpatine thought he would, and that biting Palpatine in the ass lol
Also it's up to you if Obi-Wan is really dead or not. I just want to make clear that the most important person for Anakin will always be Obi-Wan.
If nsfw, bottom Anakin/top Obi-Wan and lots of tender/passionate sex reunion.
No rape/non con, hardcore kinks, Anakin kneeling to Palpatine, Anakin killing other Jedi (I don't want him to be the instigator but he can kill to defend himself should you wish to go on that route), anidala, Obianidala, QuiObi.
• Bound By You by BlueAreTheStars
Reverse Age AU - Takes place in GFFA
Peace in the galaxy. A shaky treaty resulting in a tri-annual competition to see who reigns for a short period of time: the Empire or the Republic. It is not built to last.
Anakin Skywalker, older but no wiser from his Clone Wars escapades, is of course the Jedi's chosen champion, as much as he does not wish to be. There is no match for his power, his skills, anywhere in the galaxy now that peace has been declared but when a lithe young man steps into the arena, with gold eyes and an obvious hard-on for him, maybe Anakin has finally met one.
• mine, always by DPRen
Set in Rots. Canon divergence. Obi-Wan kills Palpatine in a fit of jealous rage at seeing Anakin kneel to be Palps apprentice. And now Anakin has to try and get his master back from the dark side while fighting his own internal battle. No unhappy endings ( happy sith murder husbands pretty please )

❝ you're safe here with me. nobody's going to harm you ever again. ❞ with Lucy Skywalker and whoever else you choose!
So this one is kind of a (very early) preview of coming attractions 😂 a bit more explanation is at the bottom (and this is all under a cut for length):
Lucy was familiar with nightmares. She’d had them ever since she was 10 years old—only one, though in the years after joining the Rebellion at 19, she’d gained a whole array to cycle through. The more tragedies she endured, the more ways her subconscious had to torment her.
The death of her entire family, well…that was just one more way. She was well-practiced in calming herself before she could wake up her little charge.
And speaking of Rey…
The girl in question jolted upright, gasping, tears streaming down her cheeks—Lucy had impressed upon her the importance of not screaming, not when it could attract danger, but crying was safe enough. And oh, how she cried now, sobbing as Lucy rushed to Rey and wrapped her in her arms. “Hush now, little Reyna,” she soothed softly. “Hush now, you’re all right.”
Rey sniffled, curling into her and sobbing more.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
Rey hesitated, then whispered, “Th…there was…a monster. A monster in a black mask…n-not like Vader, but…”
Lucy pursed her lips, knowing who Rey meant. The mysterious Kylo Ren, head of the Knights of Ren, second in command of the First Order.
The person responsible for killing the Skywalker family. Well…most of them, anyway.
“He…he wanted to…” Rey choked, sobbing again.
Lucy stroked her hair, humming a wordless lullaby. Then she said, “You’re safe here with me, Rey. Nobody’s going to harm you ever again. I swear it.”
“He didn’t want to hurt me,” Rey disagreed, pulling away from Lucy to look up to her tearfully. “He wanted to hurt you, Aunt Lu.”
Lucy couldn’t disguise her wince, and Rey’s face crumpled at that, but Lucy hastened to hug her again, comforting her as best as she could. She knew Kylo Ren—the whole First Order, really—would dearly love to get his hands on her...if they knew she was still alive. Though Lucy was reasonably certain that she and Rey were presumed dead. “You know one of the few wonderful things about living in the desert?”
Rey smiled slightly. “Lots of sand?”
Lucy laughed at that—weakly, but it was something. Oh, if Anakin could hear this girl… “Not quite. The wonderful thing is that no one looks here. The junkyard of the galaxy…so all the bad guys who ever want to find us will never think to look here.” She pulled back, ruffled Rey’s hair with a smile. “As long as we stay here, we’re safe.”
Rey frowned. “But I don’t want to stay here forever, Aunt Lu!”
“I know, sweetheart.” Rey was like her parents in that way—her father most of all, though her mother too. “But until it’s safe…”
“It will be,” Rey insisted. “One day, we’ll leave this place and go somewhere better!”
Lucy smiled sadly. “I hope you’re right, Rey. I really do.”
I’ve mentioned before that Lucy ends up raising Rey in Jakku during the Sequels Era…and during this era, she thinks everyone else is dead. They’re not ofc, but she doesn’t know that here 🥺 especially since she’s dampening herself and Rey in the Force to keep them safe from the First Order.

so it’s been on my mind since u mentioned having hopes for where the spn plot goes, if you haven’t posted them already i would loveee love to hear your thoughts 👀
i've tried answering this off-and-on, then got really busy, then forgot what i was thinking of when i left that comment about possible ends for sammy winchester. i said it when i was watching s2, you sent me this ask when i was watching s3, and i'm answering it now while over halfway into s4.
the bottom line is exactly like what the show is foreshadowing: all the psychic stuff and/or demon blood stuff is only going to escalate, and inevitably, reach a destructive peak wherein sam is no longer himself. he's going to hurt people. or maybe that doesn't happen, but the dark power feels so overwhelming and painful it scars him deeply. forever.
it's primarily because i was so taken by s1e9 home, when sammy first starts having intense and violent visions about his childhood home + s1e14 nightmare where sam connects with the other psychic boy who was abused by his father and uncle. and the sinister nature and origin of their powers starts to really take shape.
at the time, i didn't have all the details i have now - the sordid history between yellow-eyes and the winchester family and the demon blood feeding. i just love the narrative thread where...... there's a really scary, bad, and evil force/agent out there. you've been hurt by it, likely when you were very young. and now you're older, that dark touch manifests as the preternatural.
summer sons' andrew blur, who is a very important person to me, can fall under this umbrella pretty nicely. sammy's blood-feeding reveal.... that was huge for me, it validated the comparisons i made in my head between s1 sammy and andrew. andrew's ghost shit, his ambiguously ominous powers, his connection with the gothic-but-real. (spoilers..?) it stems from him being 12 and forcefully fed human blood. it inducts him into the blood owner's cursed family. the way that metaphor was in summer sons, i connect to spn and sammy. it's not a one-to-one of course, one story just enriches the other and my readings of both.
the other part of this is that sammy winchester is... also like star wars' anakin skywalker. ruby makes a similar reference in s4e9, "sam going dark side", was super exciting for me because it's how i've understood his arc too! he's framed as the evil brother, dean the good brother a la anakin, obi-wan, etc.
and, i mean. anakin's moral character deteriorates, he is increasingly accosted by horrific visions, he's so isolated and pained, he seeks the guidance of the devil. and then vaders out. andrew ultimately secures a better ending for himself, but the road is rough. similar deal, fucked up powers, violent visions and dreams that wound his psyche and his body. he gives in more and more to that dark feeling inside him, can't stop tapping into that power. in another world, one that i think about a lot, it leads to andrew committing suicide. that's the trajectory of it i think, his awful spiral. but his intervention arrives and things change.
i don't know how sam's arc is going to wrap up at the end of s5. but i know more or less the themes, the feelings involved with his narrative because i've been here before. so far i'm getting what i want - sammy playing peekaboo with his demon blood & associated qualities. back and forth with ruby, arguing with dean about it. the visual of sweat + migraines + nosebleeds. the sick and twisted pleasure it gives him to perform these little mind tricks.
i hope it blows up in his face. i hope it wrecks him completely, maybe even beyond repair. i hope sam becomes the biggest, baddest fucker in demon town to a brother who's been to hell. and they argue at each other about it a ton. everyone knows something very bad is waiting to happen to sammy winchester, and i sure hope it does......!!!!!
#me is mark#long but true and honest#i started watching spn in relation to summer sons. summer sons studies if you will.#so the connection in my mind is destined#plus also sammy's character setup and arc just appeals to me on a base level#i've had this itch scratched by other stories/characters before#pondered a lot about them and my feelings#so old thoughts for another are already coming out fully-formed for sam#a violated cursed selfish boy detached from the rest of human society 😌😌😌#anyway ily gromky <3 hope this was a satisfactory answer to an old ask

5:44AM? Better gush and scream ehehe
All three are going to be Anakin. I want to say sorry but I'm not, this man has got a hold on me. Vice grip.
Edit: *The read more keeps vanishing on me so long post aksnsks
1. One of my favourite photos of him! (My screenshot)
Obviously if you couldn't tell by my icon hehe~ I love love love this picture of him, I absolutely adore his smile, its so beautiful and whenever I see this gorgeous smile of his my stomach fills with butterflies~ he's just so soft and oh so very sweet in this photo. I love it (and him) to pieces 💜
2. Feral Anakin~ (my screenshot)
Need I say more? Feral Anakin my beloved. When he is in his Vader era, he has those intense sith eyes (which something something I find very attractive on him something something) he is constantly scowling and his voice gets a bit lower and rougher sounding and we are not even going to get into the part that lead to this screenshot! Whew boy, he's so aggressive. Makes me feel w e a k ♡ this man gets my pulse quickening like no other I swear—
3. Oops a half naked man~ :3c (again my screenshot lol)
While I hate that he had a nightmare I cannot say that I do not like this scene, I'm only human and he is insanely attractive so seeing him half naked kind of drives me crazy. His hair is clinging to his forehead, he's skin has a thin sheen of sweat on it, you get a nice view of his prosthetic and dear lord as mentioned on my other blog his pj bottoms are just a little too low to not have me staring and wanting to mark up every bit of exposed skin AHEM a-anyways...
Tl;dr: my boyfriend actually makes me feel insane with ....well everything! Insane with love, insane with want and need he drives me crazy and I hope he never stops~
#games;;#thanks for the ask Luna!!!!!#my starfire#long post;#my screenshots;#you take my screens i take your knees;

Pardon this deluge of Star Wars content but Ahsoka has me reeling. Episode five really recontextualized so much about the Clone Wars (and the prequels, themselves), it’s incredibly difficult not to reexamine my previous perceptions of that part of the mythos. The realization that the Jedi Order effectively sent children to their deaths, that they gave actual teenagers command of entire clone units, is absolutely horrifying to properly understand. Sure, when it’s a cartoon, it’s all in good fun. But seeing all that carnage in live action, teenage Ahsoka standing there next to Hayden’s Anakin? That was a lot. The realization that Ahsoka Tano, one of the most powerful Jedi, trained by THE most powerful Jedi, is little more than a weapon to be used for some Republic trade dispute, is so goddamn bleak, I can’t stand it. Coming to terms with the sheer brutality thrust upon Tano, and every other Padawan at the time, is something which has skewed the very morality of the Jedi for me. I can’t see these cats as the “good guys” anymore. How can they be? The Jedi Council committed war crimes! Like, they’re no better than the Sith in that regard and that’s so weird to say out loud. I grew up with the OG trilogy so, for me, there was a stark delineation between Jedi and Sith. Luke and Obi-Wan were Jedi. Upstanding, wise, and compassionate. Good guys. Vader and Palpatine were Sith; Straight up space fascists with anger problems and a mean-streak that could destroy planets. Bad guys. There was a quaint black and white to the dynamic of the galaxy far, far, away. After that episode of Ahsoka, the child soldier thing paints the Jedi just as atrocious. Sending children to die strictly for Republic interests, is the worst kind of imperialism. It’s staggering to me that more people don’t see that. If the Jedi judged sending children to war morally correct, how can you trust that judgment? How can you not question every choice they ever made? Hoe can you not question their treatment of Anakin?
Anakin mentioned to Ahsoka that he was trained to be a peacekeeper but was he really? I mean, Obi-wan probably did his best to bring the kid up properly but let’s be honest; That was a losing fight. Qui-Gon plucked Anakin from a planet where he spent the first eleven years of his life as a proper slave. No one knows what little Annie endured during that time. Tatooine was a hellscape of violence and depravity, ruled over by the Hutts. This crime family had free range on that planet, a fact the Republic turned a blind eye toward until they needed an alliance against the Trade Federation. How f*cked up is that? Anakin wanted off of that world so bad, he wanted to be free, and he believed from the bottom of his heart, that the Jedi would deliver he and his mother from bondage. But, when Jedi actually show up, it’s not as liberators but as middlemen. F*cking negotiators on behalf of the government, trying to cut a deal with the crime boss who allowed the cruelty of slavery to ensnare Anakin. On a whim, he catches Qui-Gon's interest and they take Anakin. Alone. They left his mother in bondage and at the mercy of that debauched world. They don't even send anyone for her because that's not the Jedi way. Emotional attachments lead to the Dark Side, so sayeth the wise and moral Jedi Code.
They fly to Courasant on the promise Anakin will become a Jedi, himself, probably in hopes of gaining enough power to free his still enslaved mother, only to be dismissed as too old by the Council. Because he was too old for the indoctrination. Those first eleven years of a Jedi’s “training” are for severing the emotional bonds which make you human. It’s for “teaching” you how to suppress your emotions because, again, according to the Jedi, emotions are bad. Anakin, already wildly powerful in the Force, couldn’t be brainwashed into a Jedi zombie because that ship had chronologically sailed. He knew his mother. He was very attached to her. He was quietly crushing on Padme. It was far too late to install those mental blocks of control. But, Qui-Gon being Qui-Gon, opted to train Annie anyway. Until he was murdered by a Sith Lord the Council refused to acknowledge as real. So it fell on Obi-Wan to do the job, even though there was a very strong chance that the eleven year old Anakin was just as powerful as he was. Kid was set in his ways and probably wildly traumatized from a life of bondage. Doesn’t help that, during a crucial time in his adolescent life, a f*cking cold war started and Anakin spent his teenage years “peace keeping” throughout the galaxy at the behest of the Republic; Not at all the enforcers for a government so corrupt, an entire Sith Lord had risen through its ranks like it was nothing.
A decade of this sh*t later and Anakin gets promoted to Jedi Knight out of reluctant desperation, forgoing the actual trials necessary to test the mettle of his character, because the cold war he grew up in got real hot, real fast. So now he’s one of the preeminent muscle men of the Republic and, arguably, their best weapon to boot. The Council recognizes this and instead of getting him the, you know, counseling needed to deal with that life long trauma, they saddled Anakin with a Padawan who is just as precocious as he was. Now, don’t misunderstand me. Ahsoka was good for Anakin. She forced him to mature and become more than just “The Chosen One.” Dude had to set an example for his kid sister and he did just that. But then she walked away from all of that Jedi nonsense, disillusioned and conflicted, much like her Master. He tried to get her to stay, pleading with her on behalf of the Council, but if we’re being honest, that was just Anakin trying to convince himself that Ahsoka wasn’t right to leave. That was Anakin trying to convince himself to stay in the Order. That Dooku wasn’t right. That Palpatine wasn’t right. The brainwashing didn’t take. He was too old. The trials were skipped. He wasn’t tested. Anakin Skywalker, the slave plucked from the Syndicate planet, Tatooine, thrust into the world of space wizards, political espionage, backdoor dealings, and war, at the age of eleven. Expected to be some grand savior of a cosmic unknown, never fully trusted or accepted by his peers. He was rejected by his heroes, had his father figured killed by a maniac, and then became a glorified goon for a Republic that had no qualms with sending people to die over trade tariffs. And you wonder why he fell.
We didn't get to seem eleven year old Anakin on missions. We didn't get to see teenage Anakin slaughtering across the galaxy in the name of keeping the Republic's definition of peace. There isn't a movie for that. But I did see a teenage Ahsoka, standing next to her adult Master, in the middle of an active battlefield and that f*cked me up. She was a child. A teenager, sure, but a child nonetheless. And Anakin was even younger than that! Seriously, let's not mince words here, Anakin Skywalker has been in the field with Obi-Wan Kenobi since he was probably twelve or thirteen years old. It's canon that Anakin is one of the best duelists in history. You don't get that food from practice. You get that good practically, out of necessity. That's how Ahsoka became as skilled as she did and Anakin is even moreso. If the two mirror each other, as they very obviously do, that means Sky Guy was just as honed and sharpened to be a soldier, as Tano was. Only Anakin was honest about it to his Padawan where as Obi-Wan, and the greater Jedi Order, were not. They sold Anakin a lie, preyed on his youth and immaturity, ignore his pain and vulnerability, then went full shocked Pikachu when he turned up to slaughter all of the Younglings. Like, What the f*ck did you expect to happen? You turned the most powerful Jedi to ever live, a slave for the first decade of his life, and instead of showing this kid compassion and patience, you thrust him into a cold war as an enforcer for ideals he can't possibly understand. You let his mom die, tell him he can't love his wife, and chase away his little sister even after proving her innocence. Anakin had a choice, of course. We all do. But, if we're being honest, from his perspective, knowing the life he has led, how is the Jedi Council any better than Palpatine's Galactic Empire? What;s the difference between a absolutist regime who sends children to the front lines of war “in the name of peace”and an intergalactic fascists state?

2023 Character Wrapped
Thank you for the tag @welcometololaland & @heartstringsduet
From what I've gathered, the rules are just list your top 9 characters from the year? Right? I will put most of these under a cut to save the timeline.
#1. Paul Strickland
If anyone is surprised by my number one, you must be new here. I am the self declared number one paul stan and he IS the moment. he IS the year. and he IS the number 1 in my heart. I can't wait to bless everyone in the tag with more Paul sets during our collective rewatch in january.
#2. Henry from RWRB
Listen, I've left out the surnames cause who can keep track? especially since the book and movie have different ones lol. but I liked the book when I read it ages ago. I thought the film was a fun book to movie adaptation. and Nicholas Galitzine was the perfect Henry.
#3. The various tea dragons from the Tea Dragon Society series by K. O'Neill.
I read the 2nd book in this series this year: The Tea Dragon Festival. This series is just so lovely and cozy. It has dragons that grow tea and they're fucking adorable. LOOK AT THEM! (pictures are from this post in which K. O'Neill pairs each zodiac sign with a dragon!)
#4. Chidi Anagonye
2023 was the year I finally finished The Good Place. and Chidi... oh Chidi. I want to bundle him up and keep him and his anxiety safe in my pocket. but I also want to sit down and have a book club with him. and talk about how much better almond milk is. I bawled like a baby watching the finale episode.
#5. Mickey Milkovich
2023 was also the year I did a rewatch of Mickey's storyline from Shameless from the beginning and then got caught up on the seasons I never watched. The character growth in Mickey was so wonderful to revisit and Noel Fisher was one of the best things to happen to that show, fight me on it.
#6. Josie from Bottoms
If you haven't seen Bottoms yet... what are you doing with your life? it's a queer classic and it just came out. I don't make the rules its just true. and Ayo was fucking brilliant as Josie.
#7. TK Strand
TK will probably forever be somewhere on this kinda list. he's my fave little blorbo or whatever weird internet term we're using these days. 2023 wasn't my fave year for TK or Tarlos plots, that's for sure... but he was still his adorable, brave, strong self throughout it all.
#8. Anakin Skywalker
The return of my teen obsession: Hayden Christensen, everyone. He was great as Vader in the Obi-Wan show but this year coming back as Anakin... be still my heart. The flashback episode was some of my favorite star wars stuff in ages and wooo boy I loved getting to see live action clone wars Anakin.
#9. Garlic from the Garlic & the Vampire and Garlic & the Witch by Bree Paulson
I mean… look at her! a cute little anthropomorphic clove of garlic with anxiety. What’s not to love about her?
Some honorable mentions:
Judd Ryder. But specifically Judd Ryder holding this tiny espresso:
Paul’s pudding cups. May they find justice.
TK’s comfort bicep. Legend has it, he’s still clinging on at this very moment.
every other Nicholas Galitzine character that I binge watched after RWRB came out. particularly the one wearing this goofy outfit:
I don't know which mutuals have done this yet so I'm just gonna tag my sister: @drivenstardust and then @reasonandfaithinharmony because I said she needed to suffer with me ✌😜
#tw: long post#911 lone star#rwrb movie#guardian reads (sometimes)#tag game#what do i even tag this mess? idek#my gifs#(the ones not linked anyway lol)

Would a prompt involving Anakin topping for the very first time and being awful at it so Obi-Wan decides to coach him through it be allowed or not? Because if the Top/Bottom dynamics are only about the sexual positions it's obviously not, but if they also involve power dynamics it might be? Basically, is a prompt involving Obi-Wan hardcore domming Anakin who just happens to be on top this one time okay?
Hello!
Thank you for your ask. Unfortunately this is a top!Obi-Wan/bottom!Anakin|Vader only event so a prompt like that wouldn't be approved. Only mentions of off-sceen switching are allowed.
Sub and Dom dynamic instead can be as you like, so a prompt with Sub Obi Wan and Dom Anakin would be welcome, as long as it is topwan/bottomani.
Sorry! If you have other ideas or questions feel free to ask us!

It's fine to be disappointed about not seeing the Lords, but dear God stop shitting on the DLC because of it. Just because you wanted to see them doesn't mean it was gonna happen. This DLC isn't about the Lords, and it never was. It's about Rose. It's about her journey to accepting her powers, accepting that she's a little weird but it's worth it because she can do cool things and she has the best dad ever. Overcoming her insecurities, learning to care for herself and know she's worth love because Ethan loves her so fucking much. It's about Rose learning more about herself. It's about Rose getting to talk to her dad, just once. Getting to hear him say "I love you". It's about Rose learning more about the events that led to her father sacrificing himself to save her, which she was apparently never told. It's about Rose gaining confidence in herself, in her abilities. It's about Rose finding a passion to fight back, to survive, to not conform. It was never about the Lords.

Warning: Long post ahead. Lol.
Note: There may be more ships on here than what I requested, so... just keep that in mind. Stick with what I requested for your assignment, but I'm always happy to get treats or gifts if some of this inspires you! :D
If you have specific questions, send me an anon ask. :)
PS. Please don't feel pressured to follow any of the 'maybe's' I listed off as prompts. If you have an idea of your own, go for it! <3

Anakin | Vader Likes:
Background/mentioned Anidala is okay but they don't have to be married, either
Eldritch!Anakin
Female!Anakin (I usually prefer male!Anakin but female!Anakin is cool, too)
Omega!Anakin (if in A/B/O universe) (Alpha!Anakin is okay, so long as he's submissive)
PT!Anakin (I don't really like CW!Anakin; when I say PT!Anakin, I mean the version of him who is light, cheerful, compassionate, empathic, and open about his feelings, even if he struggles with his fear of not being good enough or of failing people and losing them. Don't worry, I'm not excessively picky. So long as he's not being cocky and arrogant, it'll be fine.)
Sith-raised!Anakin (especially if he's more miserable and depressed than actually dark)
Submissive!Anakin
Suitless Vader
Traumatized Vader (and him dealing with his guilt)
Vader redemption (especially if it's the clones redeeming him)
Anakin | Vader DNWs:
Clones hating Vaderkin for Order 66 (he was just a weapon of Palpatine; he's not responsible for that or for the chips)
Padme/clone content
Vader being uncharacteristically dark/cruel to the clones (they're his family, even if he Fell)
Ships
Note: This includes a combination of prompts and (primarily) ship-specific likes.
Anakin | Vader Ships:
Anakin/Cody
Top Cody, Bottom Anakin, Alpha Cody (if in A/B/O universe), Dom!Cody, Sub!Anakin, Cody topping from the bottom, Padawan Anakin
Cody respecting Anakin (not a fan of the idea that he'd hate Anakin) - like, they’re practically equals in rank, and I like Cody sort of treating Anakin like he would a shiny and being protective of him even if Anakin is technically older than him while Anakin just wants Cody to like him.
Maybe Anakin is trying to seduce Cody and ends up biting off waaaay more than he can chew
Anakin/Cody/Fives
Top Cody, Bottom Anakin, Service Top Anakin, Alpha Cody (if in A/B/O universe), Dom!Cody, Sub!Anakin, Sub!Fives, Fives is definitely a brat while Anakin tries to be good, Cody topping from the bottom, Top/Bottom Fives, Fives is chaos personified
Maybe Cody is trying to wrangle Fives into being a good boy because of how rebellious/independent he is, and Anakin gets dragged into the mix.
Anakin and Fives switch for each other.
Anakin/Cody/Rex
Top Cody, Bottom Anakin, Service Top Anakin, Top/Bottom Rex, Cody topping from the bottom, Alpha Cody (if in A/B/O universe), Alpha/Omega Rex (if in A/B/O universe) (I’m a little fascinated by the idea of Omega!Rex being a dom in Anakin’s direction lol), Dom!Cody, Sub!Anakin, Switch!Rex
Maybe Cody got tired of Anakin and Rex making eyes at each other while being completely oblivious to how the other feels and decides to get involved.
Anakin/Crosshair, Anakin/Hunter, Anakin/Crosshair/Hunter, Anakin/Crosshair/Hunter/Rex
Top/Bottom Anakin, Top/Bottom Crosshair, Top/Bottom Hunter, Alpha Crosshair (if in A/B/O universe), Alpha (or Omega) Hunter (if in A/B/O universe), Alpha Crosshair/Hunter is an amazing concept to me.
Anakin would get on with them very well because he’s always felt like an outsider among the Jedi the way the Batch have to the clones, so they’d really Get each other. Anakin and Hunter have a lot in common, so their friendship and mutual protectiveness of each other would be a really fun thing to explore. Crosshair is just a brat. And annoying because he wants to be. But he likes making Hunter submit to him (though there’s gonna be a fight first lol) and he likes getting Anakin’s attention. Anakin likes feeling accepted by them, and he’s open to pretty much anything they want.
If Rex is there: Top Rex, Rex topping from the bottom, Dom!Rex, Service Top Anakin, Service Top Hunter, Service Top Crosshair, Alpha/Omega Rex (if in A/B/O universe), Sub!Anakin, Sub!Crosshair, Sub!Hunter
I can’t imagine any dom/sub things happening if Rex isn’t a part of the dynamic since none of the other three have the right personality to be a dom to the others. But Rex knows all the right buttons to push to make Hunter and Crosshair submit to him. Maybe Anakin is being a good boy just to show the other two how it’s done, even if his normal dynamic with Rex is a little different.
Anakin/Echo
Top/Bottom Anakin, Top/Bottom Echo
Maybe they get together after Echo is rescued, bonding over their grief for Fives and over being part-machine. Echo’s very rule-abiding, and Anakin also prefers following the rules, even if he’ll bend them a little sometimes.
Anakin/Echo/Rex
Top/Bottom Anakin, Top/Bottom Echo, Top/Bottom Rex, Alpha/Omega Rex (if in A/B/O universe), Rex topping from the bottom, Dom!Rex, Sub!Anakin, Switch!Echo
Maybe it starts with Rex/Echo, and they invite Anakin in because Rex is teaching Echo how to be a dom, and Anakin is There. Or maybe it starts with Anakin/Rex, and they invite Echo to join because he’s Interested.
Anakin/Echo/Fives/Rex
Top Rex, Rex topping from the bottom, Dom!Rex, Sub!Anakin, Switch!Echo, Sub!Fives, Top/Bottom Echo, Top/Bottom Fives, Bottom Anakin, Service Top Anakin, Alpha/Omega Rex (if in A/B/O universe), Alpha Fives (if in A/B/O universe), Fives is a brat
Fives is pure chaos, and he and Anakin like switching for each other.
Maybe Rex is trying to tame the Dominoes and reign in their chaos and somehow sex comes into the picture. Maybe Anakin’s involvement was an accident. Maybe Anakin and Rex preplanned it all out together. Maybe there’s an unspoken GAR tradition involving new ARC troopers and their commanding officers and sex (don’t ask what that means lol I have no idea).
Anakin/Fives
Switch!Anakin, Switch!Fives, no dom/sub with them
Fives is pure chaos, and he and Anakin like switching for each other. They’re just insane and chaotic together, and they enjoy fooling around more than engaging in power plays.
Anakin/Fives/Rex
Top Rex, Rex topping from the bottom, Dom!Rex, Sub!Anakin, Sub!Fives, Top/Bottom Fives, Bottom Anakin, Service Top Anakin, Alpha/Omega Rex (if in A/B/O universe), Alpha Fives (if in A/B/O universe), Fives is a brat and he and Anakin like switching for each other
Maybe Anakin and Fives team up to seduce Rex and get more than they can handle. Maybe Rex decides to reign in the combined chaos of Anakin and Fives by becoming their dom. Maybe the three of them are grieving Echo together and one thing leads to another.
Anakin/Jesse, Anakin/Kix, Anakin/Jesse/Kix
Bottom Anakin, Service Top Anakin, Top/Bottom Jesse, Top/Bottom Kix, Dom!Kix, Sub!Anakin, Sub!Jesse
Maybe Kix gets tired of Anakin getting hurt all the time and decides to teach him to take care of himself better. Maybe Kix and Jesse (or just Jesse) do a team-up to see if they can seduce Anakin.
Anakin/Rex
Bottom Anakin, Service Top Anakin, Top Rex, Rex topping from the bottom, Alpha/Omega Rex (if in A/B/O universe) (I’m a little fascinated by the idea of Omega!Rex being a dom in Anakin’s direction lol), Sub!Anakin, Dom!Rex (I wouldn’t mind if their roles got a bit reversed and Anakin is leading an inexperienced Rex and helping him find his confidence in sexual things, or if Rex has guided Anakin to being more assertive of himself and a dom, and is letting Anakin take the lead.)
There’s soooo many ways they could get together. It could be anything. (Just look at my general likes list for ideas. :) I really like the idea of Rex having sort of hero worshipped Anakin at the beginning until he got to know him better and become comfortable with being a dom toward him.
I love when Rex and Anakin are being Ahsoka’s dads, but it doesn’t need to be a major aspect of the story, or even appear at all. :)
Anakin/501st Legion
Bottom Anakin, Service Top Anakin
Anakin will do anything for his boys, no matter what or how insane. Maybe a sex pollen got involved, and Anakin is trying to help his boys get through it (or vice versa).
Vader/Cody
Top Cody, Bottom Vader, Alpha Cody (if in A/B/O universe), Dom!Cody & Sub!Vader, Cody topping from the bottom, Emperor!Cody, Attack-dog!Vader
Cody respecting/empathizing with Vader. He can understand being controlled/manipulated by Sidious, since he executed Order 66, too. (I like Cody sort of having treated Anakin like he would a shiny and being protective of him even if Anakin is technically older than him while Anakin just wants Cody to like him.)
Vader killing Sidious and handing the Empire over to Cody is just hilarious to me. Vader doesn’t know how to be free. If Cody was even just tolerant of him and not affectionate toward him, Vader would still follow him gratefully because he’s not being tortured. He has a very low bar for what constitutes a good master and Cody would just. Be horrified.
Throne sex??? Lol.
Navigating a relationship where Vader is a cyborg would be interesting, especially since it’d make intimacy very complicated.
Cody being protective of Vader. Please. Vader’s been through so much, and even if Cody wouldn’t be happy that Vader helped destroy the Jedi, he’d be even more angry at Obi-Wan for hurting Vader like he did. Cody helping a traumatized Vader heal would be incredible. <3
Vader/Cody/Rex
Top Cody, Bottom Vader, Service Top Vader, Top/Bottom Rex, Cody topping from the bottom, Alpha Cody (if in A/B/O universe), Alpha/Omega Rex (if in A/B/O universe) (I’m a little fascinated by the idea of Omega!Rex being a dom in Anakin’s direction lol), Dom!Cody, Sub!Vader, Switch!Rex, Emperor!Cody, Attack-dog!Vader
Cody would be the Emperor out of him and Rex. Vader would serve them because he doesn’t know how to be free.
Or maybe Cody and Rex teamed up to redeem Vader and ended up seducing him along the way, trying to teach how to be free and help him heal. Maybe they actually kidnap Vader from Sidious to help him. Maybe it’s an Imperial!AU where both of them are still with the Empire and somehow, Things Happen.
Maybe it’s a universe where the Empire formed early, and this is the first time they’re meeting Vader, and Cody immediately decides that he Wants Him and ropes Rex into helping him seduce their unfairly beautiful commanding officer.
Vader/Rex
Bottom Vader, Service Top Vader, Top Rex, Rex topping from the bottom, Alpha/Omega Rex (if in A/B/O universe) (I’m a little fascinated by the idea of Omega!Rex being a dom in Vader’s direction lol), Sub!Vader, Dom!Rex, Emperor!Rex, Attack-dog!Vader
Rex doesn’t want to be Emperor, but he got that role anyway.
Or maybe Rex tracks down his General and realizes he’s alive and decides to bring him back to the Light no matter what. Seducing him wasn’t originally part of the plan but it is now, so he’ll just go with it. And Vader likes it when Rex takes charge, since he doesn’t understand how to be free anymore. He’ll take anyone as a master if they’re even a tiny bit nice to him. Rex just. Doesn’t know what to do with his traumatized ex-general, and he wants to help him and heal him and make him better.
Navigating intimacy with Vader as a cyborg who struggles with it because of his condition and many traumas would be amazing.
Rebel!Vader? Maybe Vader is a Fulcrum agent and he and Rex meet accidentally during Rebels or something, and then realize who the other is and Things Happen.
Or maybe it’s an AU where Anakin was never a Jedi, and it’s an enemies-to-lovers type thing. Either way, Rex gets to fuck him back to the Light. <3
Bad Batch ships:
Anakin/Crosshair, Anakin/Hunter, Anakin/Crosshair/Hunter, Anakin/Crosshair/Hunter/Rex
See above
Crosshair/Hunter
Top/Bottom Hunter (I usually lean toward bottom), Top/Bottom Crosshair (I usually lean toward top, but either is fine), Alpha Crosshair (if in A/B/O universe), Alpha (or Omega) Hunter (if in A/B/O universe), no dom/sub with them (they don’t have the personalities for it, not with just each other)
There are so, so many ways they could end up together, and I’m fine with anything. Look at my general likes list for more ideas. I especially adore fix-its and soft content with them, especially if there’s lots of playful bickering. (I need therapy for canon, okay?)
I am fascinated by how things would go if they’re both alphas.
Hunter might be the leader, but Crosshair likes pushing him to get him to react and to make him submit to him (though there’ll be a fight first before Hunter would give in). Hunter… despite whatever he claims to himself, likes it, because he likes feeling protected and like he doesn’t need to always be in charge. Leading is haaaard, and Crosshair helps him let go.
Maybe they’re both exploring sex for the first time. Maybe they’re tiptoeing around a relationship during the war before it Happens. Maybe they’re trying to rebuild something after getting separated. Anything is fine.
(I’m not fond of the idea that Crosshair would be angry at Hunter for the Batch leaving once his chip wears off/is removed. I like to think he’s more mature than that and actually understands why they did what they did; he literally shot Wrecker. He’s gonna be dealing with a lot of guilt for hurting them.)
(Note: If time travel is involved, I’m fine with a pairing like Hunter/Crosshair/Hunter/Crosshair or some variation thereof.)
Crosshair/Echo/Hunter, Crosshair/Rex/Hunter, Crosshair/Fives/Hunter
See above for the Crosshair/Hunter dynamic
With Echo: Top/Bottom Echo, Dom!Echo, Sub!Hunter, Sub!Crosshair
Maybe Hunter and Crosshair team up to seduce their newest team member to help him relax and fit in with them.
With Fives: Switch!Fives, he’s a chaotic brat and he fits right in with the Batch’s brand of chaos
Maybe it’s a universe where he doesn’t die, and they encounter each other after Echo joins or after the Empire forms. Maybe he joins the Batch with Echo. Maybe they just happen to run into one another on a mission and Things Happen, because Fives loves them and their chaos, and they hit off very well. I just want to see what it would be like to have Fives with them. Lol.
With Rex: Top Rex, Rex topping from the bottom, Dom!Rex, Sub!Hunter, Sub!Crosshair
Rex has a lot of experience with wrangling his brothers, and making Hunter and Crosshair behave is easy. Maybe they try to seduce him, playfully as a joke or otherwise, and Rex turns it around on them and makes them Want Things they never thought they would. He’s very good at making them behave, even with their own natural tendency towards being brats and disobeying.
Note: I am fine with these ships being combined. Crosshair/Echo/Fives/Hunter, Crosshair/Echo/Hunter/Rex, Crosshair/Fives/Hunter/Rex, and Crosshair/Echo/Fives/Hunter/Rex are all fine.
Note 2: Adding Anakin to any of these combinations is fine, too.
Crosshair/Hunter/Tech/Wrecker
See above for more on the Crosshair/Hunter dynamic
Top/Bottom Crosshair, Top/Bottom Hunter, Top/Bottom Tech, Top/Bottom Wrecker, Dom!Tech (if they have one), Sub!Crosshair, Sub!Hunter, Sub!Wrecker
Anything with the polybatch will be amazing. See my general likes list for more ideas.
Maybe they’re just exploring sex for the first time with each other. Maybe there’s hurt/comfort and a little whump after a mission gone wrong. I adore how much younger and freer and more chaotic they all were before Order 66. Lol.
(A background Crosshair/Hunter romance is always a fun bonus for me. <3)
Crosshair/Echo/Hunter/Tech/Wrecker
See above for more on the Crosshair/Hunter dynamic
Top/Bottom Crosshair, Top/Bottom Echo, Top/Bottom Hunter, Top/Bottom Tech, Top/Bottom Wrecker, Dom!Tech, Dom!Echo, Sub!Crosshair, Sub!Hunter, Sub!Wrecker
Honestly, it could be anything. Look at my general likes list for more ideas. It doesn’t need to focus on all of them, but I’d prefer if Hunter and Crosshair, at least, were around as more than minor characters.
Maybe the Batch are trying to help Echo get used to them. Or maybe Echo is introducing sex to the Batch for the first time. Or maybe they’re reuniting after being separated by the Empire.
(A background Crosshair/Hunter romance is always a fun bonus for me. <3)
Crosshair/Echo/Hunter/Rex/Tech/Wrecker
See above for more on the Crosshair/Hunter dynamic
Top/Bottom Crosshair, Top/Bottom Echo, Top/Bottom Hunter, Top/Bottom Tech, Top/Bottom Wrecker, Top Rex, Rex topping from the bottom, Dom!Rex, Switch!Tech, Switch!Echo, Sub!Crosshair, Sub!Hunter, Sub!Wrecker
It doesn’t need to focus on all of them if that’s too hard, but I’d like if Hunter and Crosshair, at least, were around as more than background characters.
Rex domming the Batch is an amazing concept to me. I love him like that, and seeing how fast and easily he can bring them under his control would be incredible. Maybe he’s trying to make them behave and reign in their chaos and maybe make them more mature, too. Rex disciplining them (the brats especially) is awesome.
(A background Crosshair/Hunter romance is always a fun bonus for me. <3)

OFF WE GO ❤️🔥
We are thrilled with the submissions and we’ll be posting them anonymously in batches in the upcoming days!
Here’s the first round of AO3 works, together with our heartfelt THANK YOU 🙏🏻
Little reminder for all the artists: don’t forget to tag us so we can promote your work here as well!
• (✦థ ェ థ) by Anonymous (comic screenplay)
Reverse Master Padawan AU
Darth Vader is in need of an apprentice. His former Master and the Emperor pressuring him to raise a new generation of powerful Sith.
But it's not only him that seeks Vader's attention. An initiate, a young student, asks him to become his teacher.
Obi-Wan Kenobi has great potential. He is cunning, strong, fine swordsman and a very talented little boy. Most of Sith are very eager to snatch him, but Obi-Wan refuses them all because he wants Vader.
DW: Obi-Wan being a model student, basically your Ferus Olin from the Jedi Quest, but also very star-struck by Vader, who he adores. Bonus points if you can write the impending doom of apprentice killing their Master at the end as something both Vader and Kenobi contemplate.
Bonus bonus points if you can make it sort of Obi-Wan trying to seduce Vader in hopes that if they'll sleep together, Vader would be more receptive to taking him as an aprentice.
• Even if I Fall, I'll Protect You by Anonymous (comic art)
Qui-Gon dies but Obi-Wan doesn't get to train Anakin, he is given to another Master. Years pass and without the help of taking care of his young charge Obi-Wan is not dealing well with his grief and emotions.

Hearing him actually say he still loved her lessened some of Padmé's worries. "I meant.. how much time do you want to spend with me? Do you- are we still married? Do you still want to be?" Her hand came up to stroke his arm at the mention of visiting the twins, and she knew exactly what he was referring to when he mentioned that night on Mustafar. But if he was alluding to them discussing it in a different location, she wouldn't mention it verbally here. Instead, she just nodded to show she understood.
"I didn't think you would hurt them. And I do want you to meet them," she said. "But... there's something else I haven't told you. I haven't survived with them all these years on my own. I've... Obi-Wan has been with us. Just as a friend." She was careful to add the last part, chewing her bottom lip in worry as her eyes searched his face. This, she was certain, would be a sore subject, because she remembered well what had happened the last time they talked about his former Master. But Anakin - or Vader, if that's what he insisted on - seemed much calmer now. Surely they'd be able to discuss this rationally.
He took a deep breath, taking in the air of the room. "I don't honestly know what would have happened. In some ways, this was always going to happen. I'm not the same anymore. I'm still the man that loves you but I don't know if that man is Anakin Skywalker, at all That road you couldn't follow is very much the road I follow." He couldn't believe they'd had more than one baby, though.
Taking another deep breath, he sighed with an almost Anakin-like smirk. "Well one person says they want to spend time with another, so they see each other more. I mean, I want to spend more time with you...I would like to meet our children. I will not hurt them. You have my word. I'm not sure if me leaving the mask on or off would scare them more. He sighed. "I don't have all the answers, but I also suggested something else that night, that i don't want to mention anywhere it might accidentally be heard, and I am willing to discuss that option.

This was going to be a longer oneshot, an alternate ending to episode 5, but the pacing isn’t working out, so here’s the bit that I most wanted to write in the first place 😆
Context: Obi-Wan surrenders to Vader to ensure the escape of those on Jabiim. They discuss the sparring match from their memories.
~1k, Rated M for discussion of sexual fantasies, below the cut.
-----------
The cell where Obi-Wan has been confined is empty, barren, but it wouldn’t matter if it weren’t. Vader is all he sees, tall and unmoving through the transparisteel of the walls, his shoulders an obsidian screen.
There is everything between them and almost nothing at all, ten years of hatred and pain and a bare handful of inches. Obi-Wan says nothing. There are no words for the things he wants to say, not in any language he knows.
Vader watches him for a long moment. Obi-Wan can feel the weight of his eyes through the thick lenses of his mask, through the regulated air of his ship and the thin barrier between them.
“This time you must concede my victory,” Vader finally says, and the words are mechanical, inflectionless, but Obi-Wan’s traitorous mind is all too quick to lend it the cadence of Anakin’s voice, to reach fingers into memory and dredge forth the precise beat of it.
Obi-Wan forces himself to breathe through the memory, and when he catches himself automatically matching the heavy hiss of Vader’s lungs, he makes himself breathe slower, makes himself cast off the rhythm.
It isn’t the same one long etched into his heart, he tells himself.
“I think perhaps you don’t remember that day clearly,” Obi-Wan replies. The skies of Coruscant flash in his mind, and the blue of Anakin’s saber, and the blaze of Anakin’s smile. They expand in his chest, threaten to burn through his bones and his muscles and his veins. They threaten to wither him whole. “The lesson was not in prowess or tactics, but rather in the forbearance of pride. As that is a lesson you have yet to learn, you have won no more this day than you did then.”
It’s a wonder that his voice can sound so calm when inside he is crumbling to ash. How easily he slides back into the guise of instruction with the one who stands before him.
“*I* don’t remember clearly,” Vader says, and for all the simmering darkness that Obi-Wan can feel roiling off of him, Obi-Wan thinks he’s almost amused. It’s like a kick to the gut, a saber through the heart, how quickly his mood changes. How much like Anakin he still is. “You know less than you think about that day, or what I remember of it.”
“Is that so?”
A beat of silence, only the harsh inhale-exhale of Vader’s breathing. “Do you know what I did after we finished sparring that day, Obi-Wan?”
Obi-Wan ignores the sound of his own name, lest it cut him to shreds. “I must assume you didn’t go to the gardens to perform the meditation exercises I assigned.”
A harsh laugh, discordant and loud. “I went back to my chamber,” Vader agrees, and there’s a note of triumph in his voice. “I sat there in my bed and remembered the feel of you, the smell of you as we fought. I held the saber you had used to defeat me and pretended I could still feel the heat of your hands.”
“Much less productive than the meditation would have been, I’m sure,” Obi-Wan says, a trickle of apprehension from the Force, a relentless certainty that he knows what is coming next.
Not this, he thinks. Don’t make me face this, not here. Not now.
“I imagined that you had one least lesson for me that day,” Vader tells him, the string of his words ruthless and unyielding, in that voice that is Vader but echoes like Anakin in Obi-Wan’s mind. Obi-Wan forces himself to stare with mild curiosity at that implacable mask, not to reveal the slow dread churning through his veins. “I imagined that you would tell me to kneel. You would instruct me to loosen your belt and pull you out. I thought about you teaching me to take you in my mouth.”
Obi-Wan doesn’t think it’s his imagination that there’s a hint of heat in that cold voice—not when he can feel the tangled fever of it in the Force, the vindictive twisting of a youthful fantasy.
He had always suspected his padawan nursed a crush; it wasn’t uncommon at all for such things to happen.
“And then,” Vader says, “once you’d had your fill of my mouth, I thought about you telling me to get on the bed. You would instruct me to open myself up for you with my fingers. You would watch until I was begging you to do it for me. I would have begged you to show me how to do it the way you wanted me to. And then—”
Vader falls silent for just a moment, only the sound of his breathing in the air, and Obi-Wan knows he wants only to wind the moment tight, to string out the tension before the victorious finale, the strike he expects to fell Obi-Wan with ease.
Obi-Wan won’t let him have it, even if it costs him the truth.
“I could never,” he says mildly into the pause.
If Vader is thrown off, he doesn’t show it, but Obi-Wan can feel the hot flash of impatience, the burn of his ire. “Of course,” he sneers. “The great Master Kenobi would never have stooped so low as to want his own padawan.”
“No,” Obi-Wan says, and then, before Vader can sneer again, can claim that denial for his own use, can exploit it to shore up his own counterstroke, Obi-Wan forges ahead into the greatest shame of his life as if it is of no matter. “I could never, as you put it, have had my fill of your pretty little mouth. I would have had to keep you on your knees all day, at the very least. Would you have liked that?”
If nothing else, Obi-Wan tells himself, the cost of those words is not in vain. Vader stares at him—inhales, exhales, an endless moment that teeters on the brink of collapsing.
Then, he turns and strides away, cape flaring behind him, fury scorching in the Force.
Match to me, Obi-Wan thinks, his heart a leaden weight in his chest.
He knows, deep in his bones and through the ache of memory, that it’s going to be a long, long battle.

How the “Obi-Wan failed Anakin” subplot was retconned by George Lucas.
So an argument I see a lot in some “Obi-Wan failed Anakin” posts is saying “Ben failed Luke’s father, he said it himself in ROTJ”.
Now, while I could simply quote LucasFilm creative executive Pablo Hidalgo, who tweeted in 2017...
“If a fictional character thinks something, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re right.”
... and leave it at that, I think it’s interesting to see just how far the “Obi-Wan failed Anakin” subplot went with Lucas, before he retconned it into something else entirely.
The original subplot:
In a story conference for Episode VI that was first transcribed in 1981 and later collected in The Making of Return of the Jedi (2013), Lucas discussed this with Lawrence Kasdan and Richard Marquand:
“Ben [takes] the blame for Vader. “I should have given him more training. I should have sent him to Yoda, but I thought I could do it myself. It was my own pride in thinking that I could be as good a teacher as Yoda. I wish that I could stop the pestilence that I’ve unleashed on the galaxy.” His burden is that he feels responsible for everything that Vader has done.”
And in an interview done with in 1996, collected in the book The Star Wars Archives: 1999-2005 (which I highly recommend getting, so insightful) Lucas discussed how he planned on portraying Obi-Wan in one of the earliest screenplay drafts for The Phantom Menace:
“The story has Obi-Wan as a young Jedi in his mid-twenties. He’s ambitious and takes on the mentorship of this kid who starts out about eight or nine years old. […] Even though he’s too old to start the training of a Jedi, Obi-Wan feels the Force is so strong with him that he has to train him as a Jedi. […] Obi-Wan begins as this strong Jedi character but when you see all six movies, you’ll see that what Ben is doing with Luke is very close to the same mistake he made with Anakin.”
So Obi-Wan was the only Jedi we saw for the first half of the script.
And, by the way... he wasn’t always in his mid-twenties. As concept artist Ian McCaig puts it:
“Obi-Wan’s age changed all over the place — at one point he was substantially older, like a youngish 50. For a long time we had a character who was samurai-like, with a ponytail and long sideburns.”
So hey, bottom line (and as illustrated below by artist Doug Chiang):
Obi-Wan, alone, comes to negotiate with the Trade Federation. Just like he and Qui-Gon did in the final cut, he fights his way off the ship, he rescues the Queen...
... and he finds Anakin.
He is impressed by his skills with the Force. He decides to bring him to the Jedi and he insists that Anakin should be trained.
So far, this is consistent with what is mentioned in Return of the Jedi, and it’s clear that, at this point in time, the narrative Lucas was originally going for was the notion that: “In his ambition and arrogance, Obi-Wan trained Anakin but overestimated his own abilities as a teacher, which ultimately resulted in the creation of Darth Vader.”
Bringing in Qui-Gon:
But months later, when tackling a newer draft of the script, Lucas decided to split Obi-Wan’s impact on the story into two… and that’s when he made the decision to give a bigger role to another Jedi who originally appeared much later in the film.
Thus was created a Jedi mentor for Obi-Wan called Qui-Gon Jinn.
“I wasn’t able to develop Obi-Wan’s character fast enough. When I got through the rough draft I realized that I had a second Jedi that comes in about halfway through the script who is an interesting character and the more I thought about it the more I thought of things I could do with these two Jedi together because one alone didn’t have much to react to.”
And when I looked further into it... this isn’t actually new information!
This was also mentioned in the old Databank on earlier versions of StarWars.com, and in The Art of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, in which they also explain that they briefly considered making Qui-Gon be Obi-Wan’s Padwan, and having Ewan McGregor playing “Padawan Qui-Gon”, before they finally settled on having Obi-Wan be the apprentice instead.
Other fun fact: there’s a scanned copy of the 1997 shooting script online (you can download it here)... and in it, you’ll notice that in the scene where they have dinner at Shmi’s house, some of the character description still reads “OBI-WAN” instead of “QUI-GON”, because they forgot to replace some of them :D
But as a result of bringing in Qui-Gon and shifting around the character dynamics, the decision of ambitiously taking Anakin in no longer falls on Obi-Wan… but on Qui-Gon.
How the addition of Qui-Gon changed the subplot:
If we look at things objectively, Qui-Gon saw a boy with an enormous M-count and massive potential in the Force, and figured “this kid must be the Chosen One”. And part of Qui-Gon’s character is that he feels, instead of thinking… he uses his instincts. And his instincts are never wrong (or so he thinks).
But while Qui-Gon’s instincts are correct (Anakin is indeed the Chosen One, no question there), he’s going about it the wrong way.
“So here we’re having Qui-Gon wanting to skip the early training and jump right to taking him on as his Padawan learner, which is controversial, and ultimately, the source of much of the problems that develop later on.”
- The Phantom Menace, Director’s Commentary, 1999
“I think it is obvious that [Qui-Gon] was wrong in Episode I and made a dangerous decision, but ultimately this decision may be correct.”
- Cut Magazine, 1999
He’s insisting this kid become a Padawan at once, without having him spend some time with the younglings to adjust… and everyone else is saying that that’s crazy. Cuz it is. But he is unable to consider the fact that he’s mistaken.
His instincts are never wrong, right? So he just keeps pushing for it.
Then he gets killed and with his dying breath, he forces the task of training Anakin onto Obi-Wan, who hasn’t even gone through the Trials, yet.
So right here, the original subplot has been retconned:
Obi-Wan no longer takes Anakin on because he’s an ambitious big-shot Jedi who arrogantly goes ‘pfft, if Yoda can do it, I can too’.
Instead, at the start, he takes Anakin on reluctantly... not because Anakin’s a problem, but because Obi-Wan feels that he, as a Master, won’t be up to the task.
Still, he steps up and takes on the responsibility. And while the task itself is ambitious, Obi-Wan doesn’t do it for the “glory of training the Chosen One”. He’s just keeping a promise, by being there for a 9-year-old kid who was taken away from his mother and whose paternal figure just died.
He decides to train the boy, honoring Qui-Gon’s memory.
The new subplot:
Now, while Obi-Wan’s fear that he may be inexperienced may be accurate in some areas... it isn’t in others. Namely, Obi-Wan’s ability to deal with a personality like Anakin’s.
Anakin had many character traits in common with Qui-Gon, including the following flaws:
They’re both headstrong, unruly mavericks.
Neither is very forthcoming about their own emotions.
Some people are outgoing, and need someone who will listen. Others are not, and need someone who will ask them and get them to talk. Anakin and Qui-Gon are examples of the latter. They get lost in their own thoughts and don’t open up unless they are pressed.
But this means that Obi-Wan already had experience dealing with this sort of personality before taking on Anakin. So he knows exactly what to do.
Whether Anakin is stressed...
... or is just bottling up his feelings...
... most of the time, Obi-Wan will get Anakin to open up.
(credit to @ashleyeckstein for that last GIF)
As Lucas said:
“One of the primary issues between this relationship between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon is that this is establishing Obi-Wan as the kind of straight arrow, the center of the movie, and Qui-Gon as the rebel, as the one who’s constantly sort of pushing the envelope. Which will switch itself in the next movie when, rather than having his master be the rebel, he has his Padawan learner become the rebel. I’m using Obi-Wan as sort of this centering device through all these movies, even as we get in with Luke and everybody else later on.” - The Phantom Menace, Director’s Commentary, 1999
Obi-Wan is a centering device.
He’s not so dogmatic that he will do anything the Jedi Council says, though he will try to stay within the lines. That said, you can change his mind, if your point is valid, unlike Qui-Gon who will hunker down on his own stance.
Obi-Wan is the middle ground (despite what the memes say 😃).
He’s the stable Yin to chaotic Yangs like Qui-Gon or Anakin.
So it turns out that pairing Anakin with a master like Obi-Wan... is actually a great fit! They complement each other, there’s a symbiosis.
And so he trains and practically raises Anakin as a paternal/fraternal figure, they become friends. Then, when Anakin is knighted, they become equals.
Anakin becomes an almost-perfect Jedi Knight, despite the terrible odds he faced. He is brave, kind, generous, powerful, loyal, he’s the best fighter pilot in the galaxy. He is more street-smart than your average Jedi, he has political connections like Bail or Padmé. He’s training a Padawan mere months after being knighted. By the end of the Clone War, this guy’s in the Top 3 fighters of the Jedi Order.
Anakin becomes a goddamn superstar, in the Jedi Order. And Obi-Wan is very proud of the man he’s grown up to be, despite the odds he was facing.
So eventually, Obi-Wan leaves for a mission which could turn out to be just a wild Bantha chase... he imparts one last lesson, says his goodbyes to Anakin...
... and comes back to this.
He is understandably devastated... and, of course, in true Jedi fashion, he blames himself:
But here’s the thing.
Forget that Obi-Wan is the ultimate selfless Jedi. Let’s put that aside.
Any parent would blame themselves for how their kid turned out. And sometimes? They’d be right to do so.
This isn’t one of those times.
Obi-Wan did his best; and Anakin’s choices - influenced though they may have been - were his own.
And that’s the new moral of Obi-Wan’s story, in the Prequels, according to Lucas.
“When you’re in this position as a mentor, whether you’re an actual father or not, this person is your charge, but you have no control over how they’re going to use that knowledge. [...] You hope they’ll turn out okay, you hope they do the right things, you hope you raised them right, and all that stuff. But there’s no guarantee or anything. You never know what’s going to happen. That’s the challenge.”
Obi-Wan will never stop thinking he shares some blame in his boy’s downfall. We see that he eventually is able to see things more objectively in From A Certain Point Of View, though, clearly, in Return of the Jedi part of him still feels he is somewhat at fault.
But we, the audience, know: he did his best.
And if his teachings hadn’t been regularly sabotaged by Palpatine for 13 years, if the Devil himself hadn’t manipulated Anakin and turned his own fears against him... Obi-Wan’s best would’ve been enough.

While I’m Star Wars-ing, my top 10 favourite SW themes, in order of my ... okay, totally subjective preference:
1) Luke and Leia
Amazing. Stupendous. Spectacular.
I just love it so much, particularly the way that it integrates the elegance of “Princess Leia’s Theme” with the power of “Luke’s Theme” as it escalates (bombastic flutes!), while also being its own thing, reflecting both the sweetness and strength of their relationship. It gives me chills every time.
2) The Force Theme / Binary Sunset
A very close and very lovely second. It’s been used so many times in so many ways and has lots of associations throughout the series ... but it’ll always be Binary Sunset to me, tbh. I have very, very rarely seen such an evocative, perfect combination of music and visuals. Even by itself, though, it’s just so powerful and so pretty.
Having said that, it barely squeaks past #3:
3) Darth Vader’s Theme / The Imperial March
When I was thinking of the individual character themes, I immediately knew this would have to come first. It’s so perfectly thunderous and powerful, and also lends itself to some remarkable variants, like the terror of “The Asteroid Field,” the ominous undertones in “Anakin’s Theme,” and the gentle version that plays as Anakin is dying. Just an unparalleled character theme IMO.
4) Princess Leia’s Theme
One of the single most beautiful themes to emerge out of SW, and (I think) certainly the most beautiful of the individual character themes. As I mentioned in #1, it has a distinct elegance about it, even a gentleness, but it also turns noticeably forceful in the last third or so, appropriately enough. Just lovely all around.
5) Luke’s Theme / Main Theme
Few themes (in anything) are so incredibly memorable and so incredibly perfect for their films as this. I love the bombast of it both for SW in general and for Luke’s forthright, daring, reckless personality in particular. Its use when Luke jumps into asskicking mode on Jabba’s barge is so satisfying, though the escalation to it at the end of ROTS is probably my favourite use of it in all the films.
6) Anakin and Padmé’s Theme / Across the Stars
The prequels have some amazing tracks and motifs, but for me, “Across the Stars” is the jewel in their crown (yes, beating out “Duel of the Fates” and “Battle of the Heroes”). It’s beautiful and gentle and soaringly powerful all at once—perfect for, well, star-crossed lovers, and I actually think it’s used really, really effectively in AOTC. It’s half the reason I ship Anidala, tbh.
[Note: I don’t really count “Duel of the Fates” as a theme per se, but if I were including it in this list, it would be here. I don’t think it’s used with quite as much focus and effectiveness as “Across the Stars,” but damn is it superb in its own right.]
7) Rey’s Theme
Yep, it’s here! I’ve heard criticisms of the sequels’ themes and motifs, but I actually adore “Rey’s Theme,” both as an individual piece and as one extremely well-suited to its subject. It has a lot of force overall, but it’s accompanied by a certain lightness in the dominant instrumentation that makes it very charming and appealing.
8) Jyn Erso and Hope Suite
And a non-John Williams theme appears! I couldn’t possibly leave this one out, tbh—I absolutely love the mix of melancholy and beauty with an escalating brassy strength that simplifies to something almost delicate (like, say ... hope?). And I’ve always been a little reminded of the “Across the Stars” doomed love theme at times (suitably enough for Jyn! /shipping mode activate).
9) Yoda’s Theme
This is perhaps the cutest of all the themes? I really enjoy how it has a simple, delicate appeal, but also feels kind of quirky and odd, like Yoda. I meant to put it at the bottom, actually, since it’s not really the style I go for in general, but I listened to it again, and couldn’t do it.
10) Anakin’s Theme
Don’t be misled by its placement on this list; anything that made the list is something I love, it’s just that there are so many incredible themes in SW. I love, in particular, how this theme is so light and cheerful overall, yet has hints of “The Imperial March” woven in that become increasingly glaring as it progresses, and ends on a distinct element of it. It’s also one of the most enjoyable to simply listen to, I think, because of that combination of pleasantness and menace.
And that’s my list!
