Are all Diamond Authentication Certificates the same?
What this question is really asking is do all the certificates that are out there and advertised by the various purveyors of diamonds accurately describe the quality of the diamond in terms of how well cut it is, its colour grade and how imperfect it is (known in the trade as how included it is), perfection being the complete absence of any imperfections at all which is quite rare.
Well the short answer to this question is no. Whilst there are many certificates around, they can be thought of in tiers of accuracy.
The best certificate by far is the GIA certificate with strict standards of grading and an unsurpassed international reputation for accuracy you simply can’t go wrong buying a diamond certificated in this way. That’s why we only sell rings for engagement with this certificate if any single stone in the ring is 0.30 carat or over. Below this size GIA certificates aren’t really available or cost effective as any inclusions they would pick up would be too small to matter anyway so a lower tier certificate would be adequate.
GIA stands for the Gemological Institute of America, which its where it originates but they have laboratories for conducting grading all over the world and they have the associated international recognition.
The next tier down would be certificates by Anchor Cert, EGL, HRD and IGI (not to be confused with IGL offered by some suppliers which is a much lower tier certificate). These and only these could be thought of as acceptable certificates but are more lax in their standards than GIA so we do not use them.
There are other certificates out there (for example IGL) that are just meant to offer unwitting customers a cheap diamond with something that says it’s the grading of colour and clarity etc. they are looking for. What they are really getting is a cheap diamond that would fool no one on close inspection.
At the end of the day its all about standards. The grading a laboratory technician is essentially that technicians opinion as to what grade the diamond is. If the technician is only loosely controlled as here are no or few formal standards to adhere to the resulting certificate is just his opinion and opinions can differ widely between loosely controlled technicians! So we would advise always to go for the GIA diamond, it will be slightly more expensive but you will get what you pay for.

The keeper of the paper: a loop with Laocoön
This is my most memorable Laocoön loop, with Timothy Bartlett - and maybe one of my most fondly remembered loops to date, for how involved I felt every step of the way. TBC is at its heart, of course, not really an interactive show, and the interactions that do exist are rare or fleeting. In this loop I had the very unusual experience of feeling like I was a part of the story, in my own small way.
...
I found him in his tent, just before reset, drawing a bird with his fingertip in the black sand.
Out of seemingly nowhere, he pulled out two ends of thick rope, and wrapped them around his body. Murderous snakes, constricting him.
He moves like a nervous animal, twitching and looking this way and that. He's not well, but he's aware - too aware, of everything. Of lights, of motion, of sounds that I didn't think were even diagetic. He hears the chimes, he concentrates on them, trying to work them out. What message are they sending him?
And then, there's the thing about... doors. He doesn't quite get them. He doesn't understand them and he doesn't trust them. Not once did he open a door - instead, he would examine it and pry it open the slightest crack, just wide enough for him to slip through. At one point, he decided he should be able to bypass the door entirely, and ran headlong into it - bouncing off and smashing on the ground.
After a moment with Persephone that is beyond the scope of this write-up, he returned to his pottery shop and sat down at the writing desk, setting to work with a piece of paper and pencil.
He closed his eyes, concentrating on the image behind his eyelids, transferring it down. Three silhouettes in graphite.
Outside, his city is under siege.
He took us out to where a crowd is gathering... He held up the paper towards the doors. Just then, the men burst through. Just like the picture, there were three of them silhouetted against the light. He pointed, and it was clear: there they were, he drew them exactly as they would be.
He rushed off to the sake bar, jumping through the window.
At the bar, he pulled over a tray, downing a shot of sake. Sand slipped out of his hands, materialised from nowhere, and he poured himself another shot. But this one was blood.
He drizzled it over the sand, in the shape of an eye. Took a bit of the blood on his fingers, and smeared a mark on the paper.
He slid the paper over to me. I took it, beaming, and held it tightly as he scampered off to the Klub.
He has a ring... a silver skull, like a tiny version of the skull mask that Cassandra is wearing.
He set down the sake jug, and his tiny skull, dancing around it ritualistically. I cannot describe the way Tim dances - words are not enough. You have to see it for yourself.
When his dance finished, he beckoned me to approach him. Through the window, he pointed: Agamemnon. The centre figure in the picture. His head smeared in blood.
On our way out, he pointed again, down the back of the bridge. It was Patroclus with Iphigenia.
Another blood smear - his days are numbered.
How could he have known I would stay with him? He couldn't, of course. If I chose to leave him, he would just abandon this thread of the story and find something else to do with his time.
But I did stick with him, and I was the only one to stick with him, even when he fled the Troy finale - I almost missed him slipping through the Palladium doors, but I rushed after him and we crossed the border together.
For one last time, he waved me over on the Mycenae mezzanine - we looked down at Neoptolemus climbing crates in grief. He took the paper and pointed out the figure, the only one without a bloodstain. The only soldier to survive.
Here, he left me, to shed his mortal garments and join the anonymous souls of the underworld.
---
As I came out of the show, a couple friends were gathered facing the Peep door, and they squealed and applauded when they saw me with the paper. What a fabulous connection we have, when they can look at a bit of bloody and yellowed paper in my hand and know right away the adventure I've been on!

Understanding 925 Sterling Silver: A Buyer's Guide
Have you ever wondered why people love buying Gold? It’s not just because of the insurance it provides against inflation & uncertain times like the COVID-19 Pandemic or wars that are always on the news.
But, also because of the reason that it is more durable, non-tarnishing, & pliant ( easy to mold ).
All the above reasons are the contributing factors that make India have more gold in possession than the top 5 countries combined.
Don’t believe me, then here’s fact check
But, the price of Gold is skyrocketing, & that’s why people are opting for 92.5 sterling silver. But what’s that?
It’s an amazing alternative to Gold, but very few people know about it even though millions of people are wearing it.
In this blog, we will make you an expert by sailing you through the difference between 92.5 sterling silver & "pure silver" which is also known as "fine silver".
What’s Pure “fine” Silver?
The traditional jewellery that we used to make was made of 99.99% Silver, & which is known as Pure or fine silver.
What’s 925 Sterling Silver?
Any jewellery that is made up of “92.5% of pure silver”, & 7.5% of other metals such as Copper, Palladium & Zinc, etc.
Why 925 Sterling Silver Is Dominating the Silver Jewellery Market?
You must have often heard from your parents that you should remove the silver jewellery be it a necklace, pendant, ring, or even earrings once you are done with the occasion for which you have taken it out. The rationale behind this was that pure silver is reactive, & has tarnishing properties when exposed to sweat, sulfur compounds in the air, & sometimes even due to lotions & perfumes.
So, even after spending a good amount of money if your jewellery gets tarnished & shows reactions that cause allergy to your skin then it might be a little inane thing to do.
Then what does one buy that is pocket-friendly & yet remains timeless?
If it’s silver then it should be 925 sterling silver. If it’s sterling silver then it should definitely be “SilkySilver”. All of our jewellery is
Hypoallergenic which means skin friendly
Just wear it & forget the hassle of maintaining it because it requires no maintenance.
For a timeless radiance, & shine it’s coated with gold/rose gold/platinum.
( varies with what piece you are buying)
Shiny Secrets: How to know all that shines is "925 Sterling Silver"?
One of the easiest ways is to look for BIS Hallmark 925. It is the guarantee of its genuineness.
Followed by
A& HMC logo
Year Of Marking
Jewellers Mark
If your jewellery is too small then chances are that it might not have a BIS Hallmark to prevent it from any damage.
Another way is the traditional & widely used test, the test of “magnetism”. Just roll over the magnet over your jewellery & if the magnet
slides down, then silver is real
If it remains hooked, then it’s fake
PFA: Perfect. Stylish. Affordable.
It’s PERFECT for every occasion from daily wear to festivities to your workplace.
Time changes fast, & so does fashion which is why we make sure you are always in match with the trend to keep you STYLISH. All our jewellery is evergreen & yet modern like a Pookie Pendant. Our one of the most loved jewelry by all the pookies, gifted for their pookies.

Choosing the Perfect Men's Diamond Engagement Ring: A Comprehensive Guide
Choosing the perfect men's diamond engagement ring can feel like a daunting task. With so many options and factors to consider, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. This guide will break down everything you need to know in simple terms, making your decision-making process a lot smoother.
Understanding the Basics What is a Diamond Engagement Ring? A diamond engagement ring is a ring featuring a diamond, traditionally given to signify an engagement to be married. While diamond engagement rings are more commonly associated with women, men's diamond engagement rings have become increasingly popular, offering a sophisticated and stylish way to mark this important milestone.
Why Choose a Diamond? Diamonds are renowned for their unparalleled beauty, durability, and timelessness. They are the hardest natural substance on Earth, symbolizing enduring love and commitment. Their brilliance and sparkle make them a captivating choice for engagement rings.
Key Considerations When Choosing a Men's Diamond Engagement Ring
Style The style of the ring is a crucial consideration. Men's diamond engagement rings come in various styles, including:
Classic: Simple and elegant, often featuring a single diamond. Modern: Sleek and contemporary designs, sometimes incorporating multiple diamonds or unique settings. Vintage: Inspired by designs from the past, offering a timeless and often intricate look. Custom: Personalized rings are designed to match the wearer's style and preferences.
Metal Type The type of metal used in the ring band significantly affects its appearance and durability. Common options include:
Platinum: Known for its strength and hypoallergenic properties, platinum is a top choice for many. Gold: Available in yellow, white, and rose varieties, gold offers versatility and classic appeal. Palladium: A rare and durable metal with a similar appearance to platinum. Titanium: Lightweight and highly durable, titanium is ideal for active individuals.
Diamond Quality When selecting a diamond, it's essential to understand the Four Cs: Carat, Cut, Clarity, and Color.
Carat: Refers to the weight of the diamond. Larger diamonds are rarer and generally more expensive. Cut: Determines how well the diamond reflects light. A well-cut diamond will sparkle brilliantly. Clarity: Measures the presence of internal or external imperfections. Higher-clarity diamonds are more valuable. Color: Assesses the absence of color in a diamond. The less color, the more valuable the diamond.
Setting The setting refers to how the diamond is mounted on the ring. Common settings include:
Prong: Uses tiny metal claws to hold the diamond in place, allowing maximum light exposure. Bezel: Encircles the diamond with a metal rim, providing a sleek and secure setting. Channel: Diamonds are set into a groove within the band, offering a seamless look. Pavé: Small diamonds are set closely together, creating a surface of continuous sparkle. Shopping Tips Set a Budget Could you determine how much you're willing to spend before you start shopping? This will help narrow down your options and prevent overspending.
Research Reputable Jewelers Choose a jeweler with a good reputation. Look for reviews and ratings, and consider seeking recommendations from friends or family.
Consider Lifestyle Could you consider the recipient's lifestyle? If they have an active job or hobbies, a more durable metal and secure setting may be best.
Personalize You can add a personal touch to the ring by engraving a special message or choosing a unique design that reflects the wearer's personality.
Conclusion Choosing the perfect men's diamond engagement ring involves considering style, metal type, diamond quality, and setting. By understanding these elements and keeping the recipient's lifestyle and preferences in mind, you can find a ring that beautifully symbolizes your commitment. Remember, the perfect ring is not just about the diamond engagement rings but about the love and promise it represents.

Properties of Palladium
The metal is actually from the same family of metals as Platinum with very similar characteristics. It’s hard wearing, though not quite as hard wearing as its brother metal. It does not tarnish because it does not react with oxygen and it has been recognized by the UK Assay Office with its own Hallmarks.
It is actually lighter than its brother. This can have advantages for people who are not used to wearing Jewellery and prefer the lighter touch. It also does not need rhodium plating or over time re-plating like white gold and keeps its colour throughout its life.
When scratched or dented unless the action is aggressively gauging, it has the curious ability to not lose its metal. The metal is just displaced which means that a little polishing by an expert jeweller will restore it to new condition.
What grades of metal are there? There are essentially two grades of this metal used in Jewellery which are grades 500 and 950. Both are alloys and are combined with silver to make up the alloy. The 500 is 50% Palladium and 50% silver, the more precious and therefore more costly 950 is 95% Palladium and 5% silver. Both of these options are available on this website so, whatever your means, there should be an affordable option for you to own some of this remarkable metal.

The Ultimate Guide to Gold Wedding Rings for Men: Classic to Modern Styles
https://www.wjdexclusives.com/blog/the-ultimate-guide-to-gold-wedding-rings-for-men-classic-to-modern-styles/
The Ultimate Guide to Gold Wedding Rings for Men: Classic to Modern Styles
Selecting the perfect gold wedding ring is a significant decision for any man. Gold rings are timeless symbols of love and commitment, combining elegance with durability. Whether you're drawn to classic designs or modern styles, this ultimate guide will help you navigate through the options to find the perfect gold wedding ring for men.
Understanding Gold Rings
Gold rings have been cherished for centuries due to their luster, beauty, and versatility. When choosing a gold wedding ring for men, it's essential to understand the different types and purities of gold available:
Yellow Gold
The most traditional choice, yellow gold is valued for its rich, warm hue. It is pure gold mixed with alloys like copper and zinc to enhance its strength and durability.
White Gold
A modern favorite, white gold offers a sleek, sophisticated look. It is created by alloying gold with white metals such as palladium or silver, often plated with rhodium for a brilliant finish.
Rose Gold
Known for its romantic and vintage appeal, rose gold is made by mixing gold with copper, giving it a distinctive pinkish hue. It's an excellent choice for those seeking something unique.
Gold Purity
Measured in karats, with 24K being pure gold. However, pure gold is too soft for everyday wear, so it's often alloyed with other metals. Common choices for wedding rings include 18K (75% gold) and 14K (58.3% gold), offering a balance of purity and durability.
Classic Gold Wedding Rings for Men
Plain Gold Bands
The epitome of timeless elegance, plain gold bands are simple yet sophisticated. They can be found in various widths and finishes, from high polish to matte.
Carved or Etched Bands
For a touch of personality, consider gold rings with carved or etched designs. These subtle patterns add character without overwhelming the classic appeal.
Milgrain Edges
A classic design element, milgrain edges feature tiny bead-like details along the ring's borders, adding a vintage touch to a traditional gold band.
Modern Gold Wedding Rings for Men
Two-Tone Gold Rings
Combining different gold colors, such as white and yellow gold, creates a striking contrast and a contemporary look. Two-tone rings offer versatility, complementing various styles and other jewelry pieces.
Textured Gold Rings
Modern gold rings often feature unique textures, such as hammered, brushed, or sandblasted finishes. These textures add a distinctive touch and are perfect for those seeking a non-traditional look.
Inlay Designs
Inlay designs incorporate materials like wood, carbon fiber, or gemstones into the gold band. These rings blend classic and modern elements, creating a unique and personalized look.
Geometric Patterns
Geometric patterns, such as grooves, lines, or angles, offer a contemporary twist to gold wedding rings. These designs are ideal for men who appreciate modern aesthetics.
Customizing Your Gold Wedding Ring
Personalizing your gold wedding ring adds a special touch to your commitment. At WJD Exclusives, we offer various customization options, including:
Engravings
Add a meaningful date, initials, or a short message inside the band to make your ring truly unique.
Gemstone Accents
Incorporate small diamonds or other gemstones into your gold ring for added sparkle and significance.
Choosing the Right Fit
Comfort is key when selecting a wedding ring. Consider the following factors to ensure the perfect fit:
Width
Gold wedding rings for men typically range from 4mm to 8mm in width. Choose a width that feels comfortable and suits your style.
Profile
The ring's profile refers to its shape in cross-section. Common profiles include flat, domed, and beveled. Try on different profiles to find the most comfortable fit for you.
Size
Ensure your ring size is accurate. Remember that fingers can swell with heat and activity, so choose a size that fits well throughout the day.
FAQs About Gold Wedding Rings for Men
What is the most durable gold for wedding rings?
14K gold is considered one of the most durable options for gold wedding rings because it contains a higher percentage of alloys, making it harder and more resistant to scratches and wear.
Can gold wedding rings be resized?
Yes, gold wedding rings can typically be resized by a professional jeweler. However, the extent to which a ring can be resized depends on its design and structure.
How do I care for my gold wedding ring?
To maintain the shine and beauty of your gold wedding ring, clean it regularly with a mild soap and water solution, and avoid exposure to harsh chemicals. Store it in a soft cloth or jewelry box when not in use.
What is the difference between 14K and 18K gold?
14K gold contains 58.3% pure gold, while 18K gold contains 75% pure gold. 18K gold is more valuable and has a richer color, but 14K gold is more durable and better suited for everyday wear.

Choosing the Perfect Gold Engagement Ring from Ranka Jewellers Pune
The tradition of exchanging gold engagement rings is a timeless symbol of commitment and love. While gold engagement rings have long been associated with women, the modern era has seen a shift in perspectives, with an increasing number of men also wearing these meaningful symbols. Whether you're a man looking for the perfect ring to propose to your partner or a woman searching for the ideal ring for your significant other, selecting the right engagement ring is a significant decision. In this guide, we will explore key considerations for both men and women when buying engagement rings.
Choosing a Gold Engagement Ring for Women by Ranka Jewellers:
Understand Her Style:
Before embarking on the search for the perfect engagement ring, take the time to understand your partner's style. Consider her fashion preferences, whether she prefers classic, modern, or vintage styles. Pay attention to the type of gold jewellery she already wears to gather insights into her taste.
Determine the Ring Size:
While this may seem like an obvious step, ensuring you have the correct ring size is crucial. You can discreetly borrow one of her rings or seek assistance from friends and family to determine the right size. This attention to detail will make the proposal even more special. https://www.rankajewellers.com/gold/rings
Explore Different Settings and Metals:
Engagement rings come in various settings and metals. Traditional choices include platinum, white gold, and yellow gold. Consider her lifestyle and preferences when choosing the metal. Experiment with different settings such as solitaire, halo, or three-stone to find the one that complements her style.
Select the Right Gemstone:
Diamonds are the classic choice for engagement rings, but other gemstones like sapphires, emeralds, or rubies can also be stunning alternatives. Choose a gemstone that holds personal significance or aligns with her favourite colour.
Choosing an Engagement Ring for Men by Ranka Jewellers:
Consider His Lifestyle:
Men often have active lifestyles, and their choice of engagement ring should reflect this. Consider durable metals such as platinum or tungsten, and opt for a design that aligns with his daily activities.
Explore Alternative Metals:
While gold remains a popular choice, many men are opting for alternative metals like titanium, palladium, or even black zirconium for a more contemporary look. These metals offer unique styles and are often more budget-friendly. https://www.rankajewellers.com/gold/rings
Personalize with Engravings:
Personal touches can make a ring even more special. Consider engraving the ring with a meaningful date, phrase, or initials. This small detail adds sentimental value to the ring.
Choose a Timeless Design:
Classic and timeless designs often appeal to men. Simple bands, brushed finishes, or unique textures can create a sophisticated yet understated look. Consider his personal style and choose a design that resonates with him.
Buying an engagement ring, whether for a man or a woman, is a significant milestone in a relationship. Understanding your partner's preferences, selecting the right size, exploring various settings and metals, and adding personal touches through engravings are all essential factors to consider. Ultimately, the perfect engagement ring is one that symbolizes the unique bond between two individuals and reflects their personal style and commitment to each other.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Perfect Wedding Band
Your wedding band is more than just a piece of jewelry – it's a symbol of your love and commitment that you'll wear every day. Choosing the perfect ring can feel overwhelming and the options are endless - white gold, yellow gold or platinum wedding bands? Should you choose matching mens and womens wedding bands? Are rose gold wedding bands in vogue?
We want to understand your questions – that’s why, we’ve put together a handy guide to ensure you have all the information you need to find the ideal band to celebrate your union.
Consider your lifestyle
Before diving into styles, think about your daily activities. If you work with your hands or lead an active lifestyle, opt for a durable metal like platinum. For those with sensitive skin, hypoallergenic options like gold (14k or higher) or platinum wedding bands are best.
Choose a metal
Popular choices include:
Gold (yellow, white, or rose)
Platinum
Palladium
Titanium
Tungsten
Each metal has its pros and cons in terms of durability, cost, and appearance. Research your options to find a piece that aligns with your preferences and budget.
Select a style
Wedding bands come in various styles:
Classic: These simple, timeless bands are an evergreen choice for your wedding day
Vintage: Intricate designs with a nod to the past, a vintage band is a great choice for a bride with old worldly charm.
Modern: The modern bride and groom often favors sleek, contemporary wedding bands
Eternity: These wedding bands set with continuous stones are a symbol of love meant to endure.
Mixed metal: Combining two or more metals
Consider your personal taste and whether you want your ring to match your engagement ring (if applicable).
Decide on embellishments
Do you want a plain band or something with more sparkle? Diamond wedding bands or rings with gemstones are popular. Other options include engravings, with patterns or personal messages and textured finishes such as hammered, brushed, and more.
Remember, added embellishments can increase the cost and maintenance of your ring.
Get the right fit
Proper sizing is essential for both men’s and women’s wedding bands. Get professionally measured and consider how your finger size might fluctuate with temperature or weight changes. Some styles, like comfort-fit bands, may feel better for everyday wear.
Set a budget
Wedding rings vary widely in price. Decide your budget early on to narrow down on options. Remember, a higher price doesn't always mean better quality or suitability for your needs. Explore a range of affordably priced white, yellow and rose gold wedding bands at Shop My Band.
Choosing your wedding ring should be an enjoyable experience. Do your research, take your time, and trust your instincts. With careful consideration, you'll find a ring that you'll love wearing for years to come.
