maybe this is a meta mask but why do you think aizen chose loly and melony as his aides? their combat value was incredibly low despite their seeming "closeness" with aizen.

I saw a Reddit post with a similar question a while back. I left a comment on that post, but here's a more extended version of my thoughts:

Aizen was humouring them. It would be too easy for Aizen to kill them (and remember, he loves a good challenge 🤪)

They were self-proclaimed aides. It was either Mila Rose or Appacci that said it (can't remember atm), but one of them said that Loly & Menoly gave themselves those titles, not Aizen.

Loly and Menoly weren’t close at all to Aizen - they were just fan girls at the end of the day who got to be near their idol/crush. It’s why they had such contempt and loathing towards Orihime because they perceived her as a threat to their bond with him (when really there was no bond).

Also most of the arrancar as a whole "respected" Aizen because he was so much stronger than them, so it's really a combination of that with some projection from Loly and Menoly that they feel "worthy" to be with him. In reality, it's just Aizen having better things to do with his time rather than killing them. I'm also of the belief that Aizen doesn't kill willy-nilly lol, but that's another topic for another day.

I can't understand one thing: what were Loly and Menoly even doing in Las Noches, being so close to Aizen and his strongest warriors? They're not Espadas or fracciones, they didn't follow any orders, and they didn't fight. Yammy was surprised when he saw that Loly owned a small zanpakuto. But they weren't servants like Roka either, and they behaved very boldly, especially for someone as weak as them. Loly even dared to speak against Aizen's order to leave him with Orihime (sure, he put her in her place with just a look, but still).

They became useful to Halibel after Aizen left Las Noches, as shown in CFYOW novel. But in the Hueco Mundo arc, all they did was hang around without any purpose other than abusing Orihime. We also didn't see any other Numeros who aren't fighters or servants appear on the screen at all. Those two are kind of the only exception

94. “Just relax for me, I’ll make it feel good.”

The plastic toy isn’t as warm as your skin, when it touches her. You chose it yourself, though, and insisted it would feel good, so Menoly shoves her worries down into the back of her mind and tries to ignore them. 

You’re always gentle with her. You wouldn’t hurt her... hopefully. 

Already, you have her stretched open on two of your fingers. This much isn’t painful, but there’s a distinct, tight feeling to it that leaves her struggling not to squirm— like she either needs to get away, or get more. You had her stay sitting up this time, at least, so even with her legs spread and so much bare skin on display, it’s not quite as bad as being on her back.

“I’m going to put it in now, okay?” you ask, but Menoly can hardly pay attention to your words while your fingers rub little circles on her insides. 

“Mm-hmm...” she squeaks, and feels herself clench around you.

“Just relax, sweetheart. I’ll make it feel good.”

That gentle assurance has Menoly shivering, and biting down on her lower lip to hold back an even more pathetic whine. She forces herself to stay still when your fingers withdraw, and after a moment of uncomfortable emptiness, the cool plastic returns, and slowly pushes into her cunt.

Immediately, the stretch is different. Not bad, really, but distinctly more intense than before. She must have gotten used to your fingers.

You work the toy into her little by little. It’s not very big, supposedly, but Menoly’s body is shallow and tight and scared enough that you have to be careful. Still, the stretch quickly starts to feel good— good enough that by the time it’s as deep as it’ll go, her breath is unsteady and her thighs are shaking. It’s not so cold anymore, either. Just solid and wide, and a lot. 

“See? It’s not so scary, is it?” you ask after she’s had a moment to adjust, while the slightest shift of the toy has Menoly going tense all over.

She shakes her head, struggling for an answer. It’s hard to think of words when she’s so full, but you don’t seem to mind. The toy withdraws, then, every bit as slowly as it went in. Sensation lights up her nerves as it drags back out— and the emptiness is twice as unbearable, this time. 

“Good girl. You’re taking it so well,” you tell her. Menoly fights the urge to beg all over again. Her body is heating up, wanting more—

You move the toy in and out at a steady pace, and she finally does start to relax. With the constant shocks of pleasure to focus on, it’s easier not to be afraid; she’s so full that there’s no room left for anything else. Her legs drop open, her jaw goes slack, and the tension finally melts away.

I tried to write a whole thing about how happy I was to see Loly back after her seeming death at Yammy’s hands, and my hopes for her eventually figuring out what exactly it was about Orihime that made her so angry, and how what she’s doing here, defending her home and the people in it, is a step along that path...but I couldn’t tie it all together. But anyhow she’s great and I love her and I’m very happy that Quilge doesn’t kill her either.

The manga unfortunately gave us no such content since Kubo had no new and original ideas for what to do with Loly and Menoly.

I'd also argue that the series only had its chance to develop a good basis for such content was back in the Arrancar arc, and the chance was wasted by the arc screwing up Orihime as a character at every turn and hollowing (ha ha) her out into what she is by the TYBW arc, which isn't a character who can sustain any meaningful development or dynamics with anyone who isn't Ichigo Kurosaki-kun.

Kind of spoilers?

Since Bleach is returning soon, and I found out that Loly and Menoly will be in the TYBW arc, and of course Loly is close to getting killed yet again, which means Orihime saves her.. Could we possible see her and Orihime become friends or is that just my hopeful feeling. I know Loly tortured her and abused her, and I know it’s probably bad to ship them but towards the end when she protected her and smiled at her before almost, It just made me ship it. I just hope this means I can get some #Lolyhime content

Lilynette

Somewhere between reflexively nope about it and really, really desperate for the attention. Lilynette is easily embarrassed by soft, fluffy, couple-y things, so too much affection is kind of unbearable. That said, she's also highly clingy and wants your attention constantly, so it's not like she hates the behavior, either. Just get used to her being aggressively flustered about it.

Halibel

She'll stoically accept the affection, for the most part, not showing much of a reaction other than silent, subtle approval... but the reality is that Halibel just really doesn't know how to respond. Someone treating her so softly is completely new, and the flustered, tender feelings it gives her are hard to process. It's pleasant, but so much affection takes some getting used to.

Nelliel

She's perfectly content to soak up all the affection you have to offer, and repay it with plenty of love of her own! For an Arrancar, Nelliel is uniquely comfortable with that sort of thing, and it shows. She also has no sense of shame (or timing) when it comes to PDA, so if you're the one to start it, she's all too willing to aggressively glomp you at any available opportunity.

Cirucci

For a good while, she absolutely cannot handle it. Every time you get too fluffy and affectionate, Cirucci is pushing you away and snapping at you for being weird. She has no idea how to process the constant attention, especially not when you're dead-set on being all soft and sappy and utterly human. There's an adjustment period, for sure, but she does eventually come to like it better.

Loly

Loves it. Loly is greedy for affection to the max, and will end up terribly demanding if you spoil her too much. Expect a terrible brat who will happily seat herself in your lap whenever she pleases to seek cuddles and your wonderful human warmth, with nasty, jealous tantrums should you ever show her less affection than usual. Be careful how much you encourage her...

Menoly

Very, very shy about the amount of attention you give her, but not necessarily against it. All of the affection just... kind of makes her want to curl up and cry. It's almost pitifully easy to turn Menoly into a blushing, stammering mess, too overwhelmed to even form words properly anymore, but despite the slight panic, she really does appreciate that you're so affectionate and kind.
