Since Menelik was really a big proponent of modernization, it would be funny if he was worth of like a technology nerd. Like always enjoyed learning about new inventions and you see Ba Trieu either teasing him or supporting her lovable nerd

Menelik: I just purchased this fancy new thingamabob that Seondeok and Hammurabi invented! I can’t wait to see what it does!

pushes some random buttons, pulls some levers, winds it up and lets it spin

Ba Trieu: Uhhh, you do know that Seondeok’s and Hammurabi’s inventions are prone to explodi-

Menelik: Aww, shucks. Well, there’s always the next whatchamacallit that Seondeok and Hammurabi will invent next to look forward to.

Ba Trieu: *sigh* Yes, yes there is.

But I mean, you know Ba Trieu would totally be the type to say that, though.

Don't know why but I kinda ship Ba Trieu and Menelik, I guess because it's fun to imagine a power couple fighting off invaders

Ba Trieu: Once we catch those son of bitches, I am gonna skin them alive.

Menelik: Calm down, all we need to do is protect our home and that is quite enough.

Ship idea for ba trieu and Menelik

I know irl Menelik often had photos of himself with lions at his throne. So imagine the two going on dates while taking care of the Lions and such

Also, imagine the two sparring together as a potential date

Okay, this is really cute. Menelik having pet lions? That’s badass. (I should make a list of all the pets the various leaders would have...) And, while they’re off sparring, they let Amanitore watch the lions! I feel like she would be good with animals.

I don't know why but I can imagine Menelik and Ba Trieu as a good ship. If not that a good bromance since they both could bond over protecting and driving out invaders from their lands for example

Dang...I like this ship. I never made that connection, that both of them irl protected their lands from foreign powers. Menelik II x Ba Trieu it is!

That’s great. So among all the leaders, who are their friends and who are their enemies?

Friendships:

Tomyris and Genghis, for their love of horses.

Cyrus and Alexander. Best buds forever. Alex loves joining in on Cyrus’ surprise wars, and occasionally his surprise pranks, too. Alex also likes giving Cyrus relationship advice, although the advice is a little bit crazy and not very helpful, lol.

Dido, Gitarja, Harald, Kupe, and Victoria. Boat gang. They started their own recreational sailing team for fun.

Dido and Gitarja are very close friends. They once secretly built a small boat with only their bare hands and sailed away on an adventure, just to temporarily get away from the stresses of managing their empires. They managed to get pretty far before each of their palace guard units noticed they were gone, panicked, set out to find them, and disappointingly brought them back. Dido and Gitarja were not happy about that.

Tamar and Qin Shi Huang. Walls. That’s all I have to say. When they were little kids, they liked building forts together.

Ambiorix, Shaka, Gorgo, Ba Trieu, Montezuma, Lady Six Sky, and Amanitore like to have spear-fighting battles and competitions against each other. Pachacuti tries to join, but he gets disqualified because the halberd he carries is not a spear.

Cyrus loves gardening, and Eleanor loves flowers, so they like to share flower-growing tips with each other.

Seondeok and Hammurabi love doing science experiments together. Often, the stuff they make ends up exploding in one way or another.

Gandhi, Chandragupta, Jayavarman, and Ba Trieu ride elephants into the sunset together.

Menelik II and Pachacuti like to go mountain climbing and hiking through hills and valleys. They maintain a friendly rivalry where they brag to each other about the highest mountains they’ve climbed, their fastest climbing times, and their longest hill hikes.

Gilgamesh and Tomyris protect each other and will absolutely kick your ass if you threaten any of their other friends.

Poundmaker is so cool, everybody likes him. It’s impossible to be mad at him. He often throws wild parties, and everyone’s invited!

Enemies:

Cyrus and Wilfrid Laurier have this weird standoff-thing between them. It’s probably because Wilfrid, for some reason, is immune to Cyrus’ pranks. Every time Cyrus tries to pull a practical joke on Wilfrid, it mysteriously backfires. Always. Wilfrid himself would never prank anybody else, too.

Basil II and Suleiman. Basil’s a little salty about what happened to Constantinople, lol.

Saladin and Philip II. “HERETIC!” they yell at each other, pointing fingers.

Pedro II and Kristina are in constant conflict about great people. They frequently hold great work exhibitions to one-up each other that get more extravagant every time.

Trajan and Basil each claim that they lead the real Rome. Hilarity ensues. Poor Suleiman ends up getting dragged into the confusion, too.

Kupe hates Frederick Barbarossa for polluting too much.

Frederick has beef with Pericles, Matthias, and Tamar over city-states. Pericles has beef with Matthias, also over city-states. It’s a vicious cycle. Diplomatic meetings between these four often end with kicking and screaming.

Romantic Ships:

Cyrus x Tomyris, of course, as explained previously.

Alexander x Dido. They’re both backstabby, goofy, and crazy, and I love it.

Eleanor x Matthias Corvinus. I don’t exactly know why I ship these two other than they look good together. I can imagine them being very discreet about their relationship.

Wilfrid Laurier x Wilhelmina. A very sweet ship. They like baking cookies together.
