What is your homeschool prep like? For our lives, I find that it helps when I prepare for school the night before. Or if I have time on Sundays, I prepare as much as I can for as many lessons possible. For the junior kindergarten kids, we use @memoriapress , I don’t need much prep except to put the books I need, in my book bin. The curriculum is phonic heavy with lots of listening and reading but some paper cutting and coloring. I separate that from the curriculum entirely and sometimes do randomly throughout the day, instead of within the schedule. The kids love all the books and have really taken to the rhyming from poems but not so much the songs. For my part, I don’t think I’ve introduced enough music, so that might be why they’re not so into the music. What I’m finding over all is that my prep is long term. I only do parts of laminating as I go, which means I also only do small sections of cutting, as needed. It helps to not be overwhelmed. I make time to find things that I can use around the house that will lend itself to organizing my curriculum. The box in the picture was a full box of sour gummy‘s that my husband bought. While I don’t think it’s a great idea to have that many gummy’s in our house for no particular reason (while I’m on @ww ) except that my children like them, I did find a great use for that box! I cut it up and tossed the complete set of alphabet flash cards inside. Between lessons, as a craft, I’m going to let the little kids decorate it. I think there’s this weird well of creativity that keeps getting filled in me. It’s like I’m always thinking of new things to do to or build, to make learning fun for our kids and to make my life easier. Aside from that new realization, I have also come to understand that I probably drink more coffee than I ever have, in my entire life.
