      he shouldn’t have followed her, shouldn’t have watched her lure that man, shouldn’t have walked up to their table and punched him. they had an agreement. they had an agreement and he saw to reducing it to a pulp. his knuckles were scraped and covered in blood. there’d be bruises all over the skin around it in the morning. his ribs would hurt but differently, some constant and dull ache after the acute pain he was now feeling - as if the bones were trying to pierce through organs. hans hadn’t looked at her until the fight was over and the both of them had run away to find some sort of hide away when he’d started to gasp for air.

oh he was looking at her now. if she expected an apology for his blowing up the prospect of her making money that night, she would be sorely disappointed. of course what she’d just said was now putting a spin on things. what remained of his anger began to deflate somehow. unsettling. “you and me?” his right arm wrapped around his torso to put some pressure on it and prevent any sudden movement, his left hand reached for the side of her face. her hair was wet. curling his fingers into a fist in the messy locks, he stared at her.  “is that right?”

    Sage is trying his best not to snicker, refraining from even curling the corner of his lips not to give away that he was trying to make her jealous on purpose. And it seems it might have worked.           if part of him knew that leaving his phone not only unattended but in plain sight was a mistake, he wouldn’t admit it - let alone to her. without saying a word, because that would make her triumph all the more great, he leaned in and snatched the phone from her hands. he checked it, though it wasn’t possible to know what she’d been looking at or even if she had been looking at anything and, instead, had just pretended in order to capture his attention. with a frown, he shoved the phone back in his pocket. what irked more than her breach of privacy was the lack of trust it entailed. the gesture was worse than a slap in the face: it was taking a leap back to how things had been before. before germany, before that morning in her former bedroom.
