And started writing a modern crack fic where Solo and Gaby torment Illya with them 😅

"So," Waverly started, leaning back in his chair, "Would either of you like to tell me exactly how this happened?" He gestured between the two men vaguely.

Solo moved the icepack he was holding against his swollen eye to glance over at Illya. The Russian wasn't in much better shape; blood was drying around his nose, and a colorful bruise blossomed along his jaw. He was sitting up perfectly straight, his arms crossed and a frankly pissed expression on his face. Solo rolled his eyes and flexed his sore knuckles.

"I….may have misused the work group chat."

"'Misused,'" Illya scoffed under his breath.

"Misused, how?" Waverly prompted.

"In my defense," Solo drawled as he wrangled his phone from the inner pocket of his blazer, "They were hilarious."

A crease formed in Waverly's brow as he accepted the phone, but as he scrolled through the seemingly endless number of messages, his confusion gave way to annoyance. "To be perfectly honest, Mr. Solo, I am impressed at just how many of these you were able to find."

"I made a few of them myself," he preened, "I'm particularly fond of the 'in Soviet Russia, its not iPhone, its OURPhone' one."

"Is not funny," Illya grumbled.

"Right. Mr. Solo, I believe some sensitivity training is in order. However, I don't believe the onslaught of memes warranted an assault. So, in lieu of a harsher penalty, I'll just have you apologize to each other."

Solo huffed, and looked to Illya, who mirrored his indignation.

Waverly leaned forward again and clicked his pen threateningly, "Or would you prefer paperwork only for a month?"

With a sigh, Solo shifted in his chair to half-face Illya, "I'm sorry for sending you a hundred Soviet Russia memes, Peril."

"One hundred and thirty five," he corrected through gritted teeth.

"You counted?"

"When messages keep you up all night, nothing else to do but count."

"It wasn't-" Solo tried to protest, but a pointed look from Waverly made him stop short, "I'm sorry for sending you one hundred and thirty five Soviet Russia memes."

Illya's glare didn't waver in intensity, even as he tipped his head to the side and held Solo's gaze. He was silent for a few moments, then took in a deep breath and muttered, "I am sorry for punching your face. Might have been overreaction."

Solo chewed the inside of his cheek, unable to conjure much anger when he was faced with Illya's ridiculously adorable head tilt, and he had no right to be that attractive with blood smearing his face. 

"I didn't break your nose, did I?" he asked before he could stop himself, in a soft tone that made him curse inwardly. Maybe Illya had concussed him.

In a fraction of a second, something flickered behind Illya's murderous stare, and he turned away with a shrug. He cleared his throat and stared at a missed spot in the freshly polished tile. "Doesn't feel broken."

"Good," Solo nodded, an extremely unfamiliar feeling of awkwardness churning in his stomach.

"Well then," their boss cut in, sounding more like a middle school principal than the commander of an international espionage force, "Now that's all settled, Mr. Solo, I expect you to be front row at next week's sensitivity seminar. Otherwise, you're both dismissed."

"Thank you, sir," Solo beamed bitterly as he stood, "Looking forward to it."

Illya mumbled a similar acknowledgment and slunk out of the office. Once Solo shut the door behind them, he sighed and mused, "Now the only question is how did Gaby get out of this one."

"No idea," Illya shook his head, "Even screenshots I took were altered. Without my knowledge. Couldn't even track changes."

"She's getting too good at this game," Solo tsked, a bit of pride swelling in his chest nevertheless.

"Da. We make her pay."

"How do you suggest we do that?"

His partner's fingers drummed against his leg, and the muscle in his jaw jumped as he considered their options. "We take engine."

"The whole thing?"

The corner of Illya's mouth quirked up in a poorly hidden smile, "Is just bizarre enough to be good payback."

"She's gonna be pissed," Solo laughed quietly, "Hide it in rendezvous three- no, two. The storage rack in there is taller."

Illya nodded along, mischief washing away the anger in his eyes, and checked their surroundings before giving Solo's chest a pat, "Come on, Cowboy. Let's go steal an engine."

And Jiwoo definitely won him over after his fights. I LOVE how genuine his concern was for our main boy!!

random house ask (slash musings)…

i’ve been reading your chase and thirteen metas, and it struck me… there’s another character in the show who’s referred to by house as the “prodigal son” - amber. (s04eo3)

house says it as a joke, obviously, but thematically seems like it’s either totally irrelevant or the key to the whole show and i can’t for the life of me figure out which, or what (if anything) it means. just wondered if you had any thoughts, given the show’s general wealth of symbolism around amber and that line specifically being deeply tied to chase (and arguably thirteen).

I saw this just before I went to bed last night and my guy, I've been thinking.

So, what's immediately interesting to me is this:

13 calls herself the prodigal daughter. She's the only one comfortable enough to define her and House's relationship like that: she's the most comfortable with him, neither trying to impress him or become him. 13 and House aren't actually that alike in a couple of crucial ways: she's independent to a fault, cutting her phone lines and making huge life changes, and House needs to be around others as much as he hates them. For all that 13's mysteriousness is a self-imposed meme, she's actually very single-minded in a lot of ways: she decides something and she acts. And in that way she is like House, in that she acts according to her beliefs and doesn't like to involve others or change her mind. She cuts her phone lines and goes to jail. She quits medicine and moves to Greece. She asks Chase to bring her an ultrasound, then punches him when he tells her they need the hospital, even though he is right. And that stubbornness is very House, but that independence isn't. House in his own way is very social: he needs people to react to, to bounce off of, to antagonize. He doesn't do well alone, he doesn't like to be alone. He hates people but he thrives when he's around others. He doesn't make decisions in a vacuum like 13 does, he isn't really capable of making the huge life up-ending changes she does once per season. And they're both stubborn and single-minded and sarcastic and get along great, but it's interesting that 13 is the one who calls herself the prodigal daughter: not that she's wrong. But she decides. She leaves on her own, exists on her own. She is comfortable defining her and House's relationship.

House calls Chase the prodigal son, and it's a joke, but it's also not. Chase in early seasons is defined by wanting to be like House and failing, being a bit pathetic and silly and ridiculous for the ways he emulates House despite being insincere (House is deeply sincere — not the same thing as being pleasant or kind — Chase is an actor), despite Chase being presented as a bit dim. Foreman is like House without trying; Chase has to try, isn't that slightly embarrassing? It's only later that Chase is shown to be just as brilliant as House when he wants to be, not just solving cases but cases House can't. It's only over time that Chase becomes more House-like, and they're still less similar as people and more similar in terms of their lives: Cameron is basically Stacy. Chase becomes more cynical and isolated and lonely over time, staying static and unchanging as everyone around him moves on. He might have wanted to be House once, but by S8 he feels stuck and lonely and that House is all he really has, something he accuses House of enabling. He's also the one House tells not to be like him: House sees these parallels and tells Chase he wants better for him. Don't be like me. Don't be stupid and irrational and angry, don't react just because you're scared. Calling him the prodigal son was a joke, the hug was a joke, but Nobody's Fault/Chase were not jokes: Chase is like him, and House wants better for him. Chase has always wanted validation from House, wanted House to say I care for you or I'm proud of you (House wanting his father to say you did the right thing, Chase doing the right thing in Finding Judas and getting nothing); House instead tells him don't be like me.

13 isn't all that much like House and is comfortable with it and their relationship. Chase is forever insecure in his and House's relationship and is told to not be more like House than he is. They're House's favorites, but the dynamics are very different. Chase would never call himself House's son, because that's too big and huge: 13 is fine joking she's House's daughter because she's secure in who she is.

So here's where Amber comes in: she's the one House thinks is just like him. They're quickly made to be social equals (as Amber points out), and fall into a series of power plays and games that are very equal: they're fighting for Wilson. House doesn't treat her as a subordinate or a follower; he engages on her outside of work, at her home, in social spaces. This isn't something House does with his fellows, especially not in S4. And part of that is her relationship with Wilson kind of elevates her, right? He can't treat Amber as an employee. But House calls her a female version of him (conniving, manipulative, defensive, intelligent, not very likeable). House doesn't seem to like Amber much, but he respects her. She's the one he hallucinates and who becomes his sort of… well, literally his subconscious. Where you can make a case House sort of sees 13 and Chase as his surrogate kids (they're definitely his favorites), he definitely doesn't think of Amber as one of them. They're equals. She's just like him. And House doesn't like her.

13 isn't much like House, Chase is but shouldn't be; Amber is House, and where the first two are his favorites, he of course doesn't like Amber at all. And so of course she's, in a weird way, the most important of the three to him.

What’s your OTP for your Muse(s)?

Hm! I won't say it here, because I don't want to give the wrong impression. I will say I do have a few OTPs! My close friends/besties already know my bias!

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

Excluding the big NO-NO (r*pe, non-con, underage sex, and etc.), I'm pretty open and willing to try a variety of things for shipping. It can go from fluffy/playful to angsty next. On that note, I am also open to exploring toxic ships/red flags as well. :3

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

As someone who RP's muses who are either in the three digits or immortals, I can safely say as long as they are both ADULTS who are consenting, all is good. I will say NO if our muses have a parent/child bond like Muse A has raised Muse B since they were a kid, or anything similar to that.

Are you selective when shipping?

In general, it's a yes.

Mostly because I don't get home until the evening and by then my energy is pretty low. It takes time for me to sit down and focus on tumblr replies. Too many things happening can feel overwhelming for me, especially if I think about making sure shipping with the same muses are different/varied. It hasn't happened yet as my activity levels here are random! But I am thinking it about now and rjrbrjrhrje Y e a h. That is why I made the shipping rule for new people who are following me the first time.

Otherwise, if we're already friends, chances are we already went feral about the characters/ship. I don't mind going straight into pre-established ship or RPing (plotting) how they got together. I'm not picky in that regard.

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

I don't think I have reached that point on this site. If I do, I would say the moment they start stripping while kissing and getting handsy with each other. Maybe there's touching the private parts. At that point, as I try to follow my own rules, I would probably move the full NSFW into DMs/IMs.

1. Is your muse a good kisser?

First off, I wouldn't be caught dead letting my OCs be bad kissers so jot that down!!! 📝😤 Secondly, yes! She's had only one or two intimate experiences under her belt before meeting the intimidating Master van Calox (do people really trust being close to a psyker let alone a telepathic one btw) but what she lacks in experience she makes up for in passion and eagerness. 😼

13. What personality trait/type does your muse find most attractive?

Adding to that note of having little intimate experiences, I'd imagine what drew her to past partners and Heinrix was their passion. Most are in their servitude to the Imperium -- as was she in her time lil miss dogmatic 💤 -- but learning the Interrogator was capable to be beyond his duties and had such hidden, personal and passionate depths is what drew her to him.

And in that magnetic attraction she learned more about herself in the process, too.

24. Does your muse tend to get jealous when in a relationship? Do they like it when their partner gets jealous over them?

Being in an actual relationship is very new to Lucinda so I think she's a little unsure on how to properly navigate the emotions that can come with it lol. Jealousy rears its head when Heinrix's noble politeness extends to other nobles at times (stares at Cassia/Heinrix interactions before they were even dating). Nevermind that she feels imposter in her newly-anointed royal position but she has to squint real hard to try and read that man because he's just. So. Good. at playing his part. It's looking a little too friendly Heinrix 🙄 LOL.

How much stock does your muse put in first impressions? What is the best way to make a good first impression with your muse? 

She's sooo easily impressionable 😭 lmfao. Lucinda was literally shooketh when Heinrix was out here treating her with respect not only because of rank and title but as a person? Unheard of when you've been treated poorly your whole life and had to work twice as hard to gain even an iota of respect or decent treatment as a psyker. Even as a sanctioned one.

But that's it. That's all it takes or rather... took. LMFAO. You know strictly speaking when he was totally not watching her every move, of course.

(re: this meme. Thank you for playing! And, er, sorry for the delay; it’s been a weird week)

*gleeful bounces* Ok, so! At one point I picked up a RexObi bingo card because that seemed like a neat challenge, started a whole lot of stories, and then Life got annoying and I haven’t finished any of them. Bethatasitmay, my chosen line for bingo had one stumper: Fake Relationship. It’s just not a thing that usually does anything for me, so I kept poking at it because while I could swap it out, I wanted the challenge.

Then I registered that I do very well with the tumbl meme where people send random combos of tropes and I have to mash them together. And here I had a whole bunch of random tropes! So I set my own personal challenge to use ALL the tropes in a row/column in one fic, because no one said I couldn’t and why not?

Which led me to smashing together: Fake Relationship, Undercover Missions, Alternate Universe, Body Swap, and Force Bonds. Obviously, Obi-Wan would have to body swap across universes into one where he was a Sith, and Sith!Obi-Wan was on some kind of undercover mission with Rex where they had to pretend to be in a relationship something something Force Bonds makes for better spies. Easy! :D

Obi-Wan did not expect to wake up. He lay in a bed for awhile, just absorbing the experience. The last thing he remembered was some high powered blaster shot – sniper rifle, most likely – knocking him off his eopie. It’d gotten him right under the arm, so if it hadn’t cauterized everything – those kinds of shots didn’t tend to – then it had to have severed the artery.

He’d had time to muse that it was a lovely kill shot, then he’d slid towards unconsciousness.

There had been the vague impression of voices, for an impossibly long moment. Rather reminded him of that hazy nightmare on Mortis, but at least two of those three people were dead.

As he should be, but instead he was waking up, not in pain. Quite comfortable, truth be told, and he felt energized for the first time in...years. Rather a lot of years.

He shoved that notion away as quick as he could, as reality settled in slowly, exaggerating the sensation of a lazy holiday morning. Even with his eyes closed, Obi-Wan could pinpoint a hotel room. Mid-range, given the slight hum of noise dampeners keeping the outside well away. The one sheet and one thicker blanket had that crisp, not-quite-floral smell of many trips through the sonics, and the abundance of pillows had a range of fluffiness no single being would ever bother to stock.

There was also someone in the bed with him, and that was the biggest shock so far. It had been a long time since he’d shared a bed with anyone, and he couldn’t recall the last time it wasn’t for a mission.

Whoever they were, they were also a very precise distance away, the way one did when sharing with someone one didn’t like.

Not as foreboding as the whole possibly dead thing, but it didn’t strike him as good news.

“Sir,” a terrifyingly familiar voice declared from that precise distance next to him, “you said you wanted an oh-seven-hundred wake up call.”

Obi-Wan bolted upright, shocked awake in the way only a sudden hit of adrenaline and old trauma could manage. The man next to him sat up as well, eyeing him warily. “Everything all right, sir?”

There were so many things wrong about the situation that Obi-Wan didn’t even know where to start. The room looked close enough to a hotel room as to not matter – still wasn’t the desert. The man next to him was indisputably a clone, and while his Force presence was shielded better than Obi-Wan had ever encountered, he was fairly certain this was Captain Rex. However, Captain Rex looked young, with less scarring than he’d expect – there was no evidence of the sniper shot that had almost taken him down on Saleucami.

And he was also staring at the Captain’s chest in a way that was perhaps neither reasonable nor civilized, but it was a nice expanse of chest.

That was another significant oddity: Obi-Wan felt young – no, he felt hale in ways he hadn’t for quite some time, like he hadn’t been ground down by years of injuries and war and all the horror following the extinction of the Jedi.

He certainly didn’t feel dead. Obi-Wan scrubbed his face, hoping for some clarity, but he only found more mysteries. He was clean-shaven – it had been literal years since that last happened – and his hair was long, back down to his shoulders again. Back to the brighter auburn it had been years ago as well, which also made no sense.

He had no idea what was going on.

"The first moment that comes to mind brings me back to 20....18? The KBS Music Festival that year. Everybody had there own section of time to do a performance and SM wanted to highlight all of us. or at least try to. It was NCT, Red Velvet, Exo, and Hyoyeon sunbaenim's. It was a lot of moving parts but long story short myself, Juno and Aurora were involved in a couple of sections."

"First we did Punk Right Now with Hyoyeon and Red Velvet unnies. Then we were with Dream for Go/Boss and lastly we performed with Exo sunbae for their song Monster. Now let me preface this by saying I never got to meet to Exo members before this. I never met them during my training so they don't know me and at the time I didn't know them."

Their first impression of your muse: Dan Heng is a very complicated one, for the simple reason that, well— we have to touch on her memories of another; for Dan Heng is and will never be able to fully sever himself from Imbibitor Lunae, at least not for those who knew him previously. With that in mind, when Jingliu first looked at him, I can't describe what she felt in that moment any other way than... 'wistful'. She sees a man that is in essence, a shell of the former High Elder that she once respected, a shell of her lifelong friend, but also of that same friend that she was forced to raise her sword against because not only did he fulfill the unforgivable, his actions also threatened the Luofu. But Jingliu remembers the High-Cloud Quintet fondly, and seems to yearn for the days where she thought those would live on indefinitely, it's what she seemed to want in the first place— and it all ended at Baiheng's self-sacrifice for the gain of the rest of them, and a mistake that can never be undone (even if the intentions may have been noble). So seeing Dan Heng is... difficult, because she while she recognizes that is he is only an incarnation of Imbibitor Lunae, he is also still exactly that: an incarnation of someone that was, once upon a time, significant to her.

Current impression: Rather the same as the above as little time passes between their first and last meeting. She bears him no ill-will at this point, but still seems to conflate Dan Heng and Imbibitor Lunae, even though very consciously so. But one thing is rather clear to me, and it's that she wishes to bring an end to the Abundance across the board, but also specifically: "Maybe, when I witness the fall of the Abundance, you and Yingxing will find true release." Her farewell to him is not one of ill-will.

Are they attracted to your muse? Dan Heng? No. And I would say no to Imbibitor Lunae as well at this point, but I also only super recently learned that they were possibly the closest within the HCQ. I'm using this meme as a test for her, Charlie, bear with me.

Something they find frightening about your muse: Again, this is one where she actively conflates him with his previous incarnation, but she does so very consciously, it seems. Now, I'm not certain that 'frightening' would at all be the right word, but we'll humor it. That he was, quite frankly, capable of enacting what he ultimately was responsible for starting. They all held Baiheng dearly in their hearts, as they seemed to across the board, but there is a frightening element to someone's character to go as far as to break laws (when your position revolves around them so firmly) for anything, or anyone, to go beyond the laws of even nature and fate.

Something they find adorable about your muse: Not the right word, or specifically, it's not adorable in the traditional or intended way. But I think she finds herself amused by how insistent he remains that there is enough separation between he and Lunae, while it really seems quite evident to her that his curiosity speaks loudly enough in regards to his memories.

Would my muse sacrifice themselves for yours? Dan Heng, no, Imbibitor Lunae back in the day? Yes, it is the greatest honor for any Cloud Knight after all, to give their life on the battlefield. And if that, on top of it all, would be for a friend, who is there with her? Yes.

Would my muse go on a date with yours (platonic/romantic)? Charlie, the 'Dan Heng? No' and 'Imbibitor Lunae--' is driving me crazy. But Dan Heng, no, Imbibitor Lunae, a yes on the former.

One word my muse would use to describe yours: At this point in time, confused.

Would my muse slap yours if they could? Why slap anyone, if you can raise a perfectly great sword forged by a mutual friend (or if we're speaking Dan Heng, then the point remains but simply a different sword).

Creativity is a muscle, and recharging it is also important. So is investment! Listen. What I'm about to say is rather tongue-in-cheek, because I know all about ableism, anxiety, depression, etc.

But you can't just sit there and stare at a screen. One way or another. I was taught that 'only boring people are bored', which might be harsh for me to agree with 1:1, but it's a point.

There's no possible way you've published all the headcanons that you can. If you got nothing, you're forgetting something. Legit go look up the profession, hobbies, interests of your muse. Their country, their voice/accent. age group. Or, just anything. That's just surface level, as there's a whole world surrounding them as well. You can learn something new every day, just by observing. Take TV breaks, whether that's youtube, media, etc. Your RPing should take cues from real life without having to match up with it. (pokemon rpers, do you know the body language of your critters' base species? monsters, do you know how their bodies work? talk about that shit for example. Animal body language, or even a human nationality's body language is a good start for most people.)

Shit sucks? Do something about it. I'm not gonna fault the bored/depression posting at its core; but there's a lot of indirect handwringing about it. The community sucks, my brain sucks, etc. But you have to help start the solution. I'm a fan of productive posts, such as asking for reassurance when down, starter calls and opens, those're good. But don't be afraid to be productively critical; use "I" language instead of blaming or "you/we" if you have to. "I feel like my headcanon/meme posts are being ignored rn" sounds much more reasonable than "you guys suck at this" or "can we do this/that/etc.???" which a lot of psas can use. Try to be direct with your own wants, as those psas are simply the first step. You should probably still assume ignorance/apologetic/disability over things such as failure and malice, simply because of how we're wired.

Connect the dots. Lotta people don't know where to start, but you have to somewhere. tiny, "boring" opens don't have to stay that way after you answer them, and first impressions may be wrong, but they at least happen. Follow the animal rule; for every no that you have, give a yes. The more yes's and starting points, the better off you'll be. If you don't have any dots to connect, you probably need to do some reading. Bios, blog posts, just pick a person and start. You should know which muses yours would call like, an old-ass or something. Which they'd go to for a favor. Which they like. How they'd treat a stranger, etc. People do lore-correct when they diverge, but there's other paths to open. Find em.

Also like, you have a body. Take breaks to drink, eat, etc. RPing is a great customizable hobby as far as difficulty and speed goes, but you can't run well on empty.

to put it very simply, practice. If you can't, it's a sign something is amiss. Heed them.

Styx doesn’t operate out of an office, preferring instead to take his paperwork and most of his work conversations at the kitchen table, so he can’t be too mad that Mallum elected to corner him at that very table. While he is in the middle of eating his breakfast.

In fact, he isn’t mad at all. It is a very Mallum thing to do.

Unperturbed as he is, he continues eating his waffle.

“So I’ve been thinking,” with the way he starts, the way he’s standing, Styx half expects him to bring out a presentation board. “I should work with you.”

“What do you mean? You’ve seen my resume. Fast on my feet, hell of a strategist. What do you think I’ll do?”

“Forge documents with Papili?” Styx smirks and understanding quickly replaces the look of frustration that was etching itself onto Mallum’s features.

“Smart ass.” He mumbles behind his own grin. “That easy?”

“Just like that. Your first rescue was pretty impressive.” You even saved yourself, a pretty important thing to be able to do. “Job’s been yours since.”

“Yeah, I was great.”

“It was sloppy, but we can work on it.”

Mallum rolls his eyes and takes a seat next to him, swiping a waffle off of his plate in the same moment. “Yeah, okay. You were impressed.”

If your feel your blog is being “ignored” or getting zero interaction, you need to consider that you, the mun, may be the source of the issue. Deleting starter and plot calls because you only got 1 or 2 likes and not more? Bad. Those people who liked it are potential interactions that, by deleting & not responding to their reaching out, you have just burned on interaction. And on the same token—if someone liked either of those, FOLLOW THROUGH. People notice when you don’t follow through on starter or plot calls. They remember. Consider every time you do that that the person who liked that one is less likely to engage with you PERIOD. Every time you do that is a lost interaction that only you are at fault for. Don’t have just one meme, and DON’T close your inbox—and most of all, don’t say “not accepting” on your memes. If you don’t want any more of that meme, delete the meme. But don’t delete ALL of your memes. If you say “not accepting” or turn your inbox off, you’re closing yourself off to possible interactions. “Not accepting” gives the impression of “don’t interact/engage with me/send things to my inbox, and it’s not a good one. Limit your OOC. If you post more OOC than you do IC/meme reblogs/aesthetics and musings, that’s too much. A little is okay, but when the majority of your blog is it (and no, deleting it later doesn’t make it better; it still shows up on the dash, someone still sees it, and they see you’re posting more OOC than you are other things). If you need to talk about your muses, find headcanon prompts and write headcanons based on them, even if you never received a meme. Write drabbles. Make sure the focus is on your muses & their world, not what you had for breakfast. That, or make a personal blog, even if it’s just a sideblog for you to ramble on. And most of all: limit your negativity on the dash. If you’re constantly (and by constantly, I mean more then 1-2 times a month at most) posting negative commentary, complaints, and most especially vague-posting about how you don’t get interactions, you feel bad, you don’t feel confident in your muses, etc… you need to step back and remember: your mutuals are human too. Most of them have their own mental health issues to deal with, and not everyone talks about their mood on the dash, either. Someone might have something going on in the background; seeing you being negative may bring their mood down. Seeing vague-posting may make them anxious or uncomfortable or feel like you’re talking about them, even if you aren’t. Every time you post something negative, consider that you’ve possibly made someone else’s day worse.
