Tekko 2023 is now in the books! It was an exhausting but rewarding experience. It was definitely one of my busiest cons in terms of sheer things I was a part of. From panels, and all the amazing folks who came to them, to the masquerade to my first ever Iron Cosplay (which I definitely hope won't be my last, it was so fun!!l Many thanks to my co-judges @lutaviacosplay and MelPool for being such awesome folks. It was a joy to judge with them. And major shout out to Feytaline and Audrey Ann for running such an awesome cosplay dept and contest! It was a fantastically run event and so much fun to be a part of. And, of course, all of the amazing contestants. Y'all made this contest very difficult to judge with the superb costumes y'all made. Everyone brought their A game, and it was a challenge to pick the winners. It was my first time in Pittsburgh, and it was such a blast. The con had a relaxed vibe that was so wonderful. I would definitely return in a heartbeat! @teamtekko is definitely a con to add to your upcoming con list!

Hii! Sure, I guess you mean from the OTP list, so here we go!

1) Who rocks the Ferris Wheel seat and who flips out and begs them to stop?

Legolas rocks it and Gimli flips out! It’s not for the faint of heart that ferris wheel, and especially not with Legolas “oliphaunt handling-shield surfing” Greenleaf on it! I’d think Legolas would’ve wanted a rollercoaster more tbh. 

8) Who likes to wear the others sweatshirts?

100% I think Legolas would love Gimli’s sweatshirts (or sleepwear) when he’s feeling in a soft cuddly mood. 

9) Who wakes the other up in the middle of the night to tell them a cool dream they had? Who has the most nightmares, and who sings them back to sleep after?

Answered here, so I’ll just copy paste: 

I imagine Legolas waking up, thinking about the dream, maybe writing it in his dream journal, and then watching Gimli sleep for a while, before becoming impatient and waking him to tell him haha.

Gimli has some fears I give him that, I imagine him having nightmares about the dead or scary trees. Legolas of course sings him back to sleep with sindarin lullabies.

(Alternatively (but this is darker), Legolas has nightmares about Gimli growing old, dying and thus leaving him alone. Then Gimli has to sing him to sleep. Legolas doesn’t want to talk about those kind of dreams though)

12) Who starts a food fight in the kitchen?

This is one of the questions where I keep sitting and thinking without coming up with a definite answer. I can honestly see both of them starting. But maybe Legolas keeps his head cool a little while longer, but Gimli knows which buttons to push hahah

20) Who falls asleep in the others lap and who carries them to bed?

Picture sleepy Gimli nodding off against Legolas’ shoulder, and eventually slides down to just “rest his eyes a bit” with his head pillowed Legolas’ lap. When Legolas starts softly stroking Gimli’s hair he is for sure a goner. Legolas will let him sleep in his lap for a while before carrying him to bed

"So last year when I was with my family over Christmas break, I binge watched Young Justice on Netflix. When YJ first came out I was still super busy with school and never got around to watching it, but after I finally binge watched it I was blown away by how deep the story and the characters were, and like everyone else, was begging for a season 3 (and hey, we're getting it!). So I remembered taking a particular interest in Aqua Lad and how in season 1 he was this steadfastly loyal character and a natural leader so much to the point that Dick Grayson made him leader of the team. And it kinda clicked in my head that I had a bit of a natural resemblance to the character and it hasn't been cosplayed much, so alas, a new cosplay idea was born. The bodysuit is a screen printed spandex suit from ZentaiZone. I made my water bearers and backpack with EVA foam using an old drawstring bag as the base for the backpack. The real fun with the cosplay is the prep time. It takes me approximately 2 hours in the morning to paint the tattoos on myself, color my hair yellow, apply makeup, and then seal everything off.

So general con reaction... everyone loves it! With all the hype with season 3, this cosplay has certainly gotten the attention of many people and has quickly become one of my favorite cosplays. With me being part of a Young Justice group at #Fanime, we certainly got a ton of attention and couldn't move too far without getting stopped for pictures. I did have one rather odd moment while wearing the cosplay. At Katsucon this past year, a young woman walked by me and said, "You can take me under the sea any day of the week." I wasn't quite sure how to respond to that. --- @MelPool
