❝ bathroom bathroom, i gots to pee~ gotta sprinkle all my tinkle— ❞ the captain sits, taking care of business, with the bathroom door propped wide open, all while mindlessly staring off at nothing in particular. he's got an ever-permanent, content smile pressed into cheeks as he sings the little tune. but the poor, scratchy singing stops abruptly and luffy's face scrunches up in discomfort. the empty-headed smile quickly transforms to a look of absolute concentration.

❝ UTAAAAA!! ❞ the yell is startling as the young man's voice carries through corridors and to any ears that may hear. ❝ I NEED YOU TO COME SING TO ME OR I CAN'T POOP!!! ❞

uta just pats his arm since she can't reach his shoulder. "you know, you don't like doctors, i don't like doctors. the easy solution for this problem is putting the doctors to sleep."

The fact that Uta's rare and formidable powers are centered around being unconscious seems to have temporarily escaped him. He said that with his entire chest. He doesn't understand nuances; he thought she meant because Linn is a cat.

Blue grey eyes flickered towards the speaker from where they had been gazing into the distance--looking, searching--for something. It seemed that Uta had noticed that he seemed to be looking for something once the conversation had lulled peacefully and decided to question him about that. Ah well.

One beat, two, and then, "It was likely more of a phantom of the mind than anything actually existing I would say, like an old memory briefly blinking into existence."

There was no possible way that That Person was here, of all places.

"Planned? You think any of this was planned?"

He hadn't known anyone was on that abandoned island! As far as he knew, Red-haired Shanks had destroyed it some time ago and so the populace of Elegia was no more. All that seemed to remain was crumbling buildings and remnants of a culture of music that once captivated the world.

He did not even consider that this was where a certain idol had been living for so long, nor did he realize anyone else besides Germa soldiers had boarded the one snail ship he'd taken close to the island until he spotted a hint of red and white loops.

And now here they were with a situation on their hands and parting far from Elegia's shores. It seemed Uta was going to be along for the ride and while he wasn't against snatching pretty girls away from their islands. This was an entirely different matter.

"If anyone is planning anything it's you! How did you get on here without anyone noticing?"

He was really hoping to be able to slip out of that bed for just a little bit, Sanji was tired of sitting still even if it was against Chopper's orders. Chopper probably wouldn't hesitate to join in on the lecture that was about to be thrown his way, it was Uta who spotted him. The last thing that the cook wanted to do was to worry the crew anymore then he already has. He wasn't feeling that under the weather... Did he really look that horrible? "Hi Uta."

Shifting on his feet just slightly, he could tell that Uta was easily annoyed because he was out wandering about. If only he had been a little bit quieter when coming out of the room that Chopper had placed him in. Yes, it was true that Sanji was stubborn, but most of their crew was especially Luffy. All of them tended to have a stubborn streak which tended to make an appearance quite easily depending on the situation that they were facing. It probably was the reason why they tended to make a mess at the places they visited besides wanting to help anyone who was a friend or anyone they had ties with. He knew that he was Uta's best friend, she admitted that he was. The blonde tended to put others firsts when it came to him, he just wanted to make sure that everyone aboard this ship was well taken care of. Even if they were a guest, it was his duty as the chef to do so.

The scene probably would have easily looked funny to the entire crew or anyone else who would have come across it. A member of the Straw Hats getting lectured by someone who was a lot smaller then him. The concern obviously noticeable. Chopper would have easily been right there with Uta if he hadn't gone to rest himself for a little bit. They easily would have been getting laughed at especially when Uta grabbed ahold of his arm to make him go back to his room. He knew that Zeff and the others would easily be teasing him about this, they never would let it go for weeks or longer. It was true that he was one of the strongest among the crew, his physical strength wasn't something that could be ignored. It could be shown in the skills that lingered in his grasp, all because of the training that he had gone through. Training that he was grateful to have because of the lifestyle that lingered in front of him now. He didn't know what to do, he didn't know how to make Uta drop it since she obviously wasn't going to. She was just concerned, she was just showing that she cared.

"I know, I know. Chopper would agree with you." A small sigh escaped from Sanji "I'm just tired of sitting still... It's a bit too quiet in there, I just wanted to get out of there for a few minutes."

" Should I ? "   amusment clear in his reply despite the teeth in his grin, eyes leaving her only to dig through his pockets; triumphantly rescuing a bag of senbei from the depths of one of them. Wasting no time in shovelling a handful of them into his mouth before holding out the bag towards Uta.

" Nah, I'm not interested in that. I've been wanting to meet you, Uta. Rice cracker ? "   question only slightly muffled, crumbs falling out, because no matter what some people ( Senny ) liked to claim, he wasn't completely mannerless. He just didn't care about some of them, unbothered with trying to cover his staring.

     Beyond half a head of red hair, there wasn't much resemblance between her and Shanks, he noted. If he were to hedge his bets then adoption. Likely orphaned. Or if her original parents were alive, it wasn't to any of their knowledge or interest. Probably unintentional, rather than sought out kidnapping.

     Garp held back a sigh and resisted the urge to facepalm, because of course. For the love of Mother Sea. Shanks truly was one of Roger's boys. He wasn't sure if he wanted to pull out his hair or laugh.

     But that red hair bastard that wasn't the reason he was there. Nor were the demands for her head, for her to be brought to justice. Hardly mattered to him that he wasn't supposed to be there either, as if anyone could stop him.

" I heard you know Luffy, "   he said, as a statement rather than a question. Unable and uncaring to hide the warmth and fondness in his tone at the name,   " I'd like to learn more about that. "

Sizhui was touched, and he felt his eyes well up with happy tears he pressed a sleeve to his mouth but he was smiling. "This is for me ?" he asked. Jin Ling always bought him things---a lot--of things, it was one of his love languages. Sizhui again touched a hand to her hair. "Thank you Uta."

He was careful with the opening, fingers gently unfolding and tugging carefully to reveal--a stag beetle.

A delighted laugh escaped him at the sight of it. "Oh, my...its stag beetle." he said as he carefully lifted it out to take a look at it. "A symbol of strength and power." he mused. "I love it." he added and leaned to kiss the top of her head. He held gently in his palm.

"Say, do you want to keep it as a pet ?" he inquired as he moved to get it some banana. Sizhui, was a read individual and he would of course keep anything his babies gave him. Some were stranger than others. This one was adorable.

"What should we name him ?"

if  only  he  could  jump  out  with  one  of  his  lines.  but  there  was  a  reason  he  wanted  to  learn  good  manners  which  blocked  his  mouth  from  hurling  the  worst  insults  as  a  response  to  this  childish  tease.  instead,  ace  was  smarter  than  that.  to  give  her  the  satisfaction  of  having  steam  coming  out  of  his  ears  &  being  whiny  about  something  like  that.  he  was  not  a  small  child  to  get  involved  in  the  first  better  argument  that  was  meaningless.  

he  knew  that  if  he  didn't  dance  the  way  she  sang  to  him,  it's  gonna  snap  a  nerve  or  two.    a  heavy  sigh  passing  his  lips.  he  loved  betting,  there  was  something  cool  about  it  &  he  always  experienced  the  thrill  it  brought,  but  this  time  he  just  shrugged  his  shoulders.  arms  crossed  with  the  metal  pipe  resting  between  them.  ❝  you  wouldn't  be  able  to  hunt  anythin'  even  if  i  tied  this  animal  for  you.  they  won't  fall  at  the  sound  of  your  voice  like  humans,  sometimes  even  i  envy  them.  ❞

Hiru would turn his attention to Uta as she spoke and a brow would rise a she listened to her. When she expressed her feelings of unfairness due to the curse of great power being bestowed upon them at the removal of their ability to swim he'd take a moment to process her words before replying.

In truth, Hiru had only lost his ability to swim a few years ago so he didn't really have the same longing to jump into the water once again since he had experienced it before. Though, it wasn't really in the intent of having fun and more for his training under his father, but the point still stood that he had already experienced what it was like to, in her words find out what it was like.

The pirate captain would offer her a soft smile and nod. "I can understand where ya are coming from. Gaining power at the loss of being able to do something as simple as step out into the water without losing your strength." He'd begin before pausing and looking out into the water and a wide grin forming on his face. "But ya know there is a way for us to be able to go into the sea and see what it's like."

He was beaming as he turned to look at her, "Instead of just diving in of course." He'd chuckle at his small jest before adding. "We could get a ship coated at Sabaody and could actually sail underwater! It may not be the same as swimming but it'd give us the chance to still experience what it was like under the sea! Hey who knows maybe if they can coat a ship to make it able to work under water there could be something similar we could use for ourselves!"

uta slams her hand down on the table to get his attention. and she grins proudly while she placed a clear box with holes pierced into the top on the table, shoving it closer to kid so he can have a look at the amazing gift she got him. inside this makeshift cage a big deep red stag beetle was waiting for him. “look at this one! it’s not a scorpion but isn’t it pretty neat? took me hours to catch it.��� not that the leaves still stuck in her hair would give away that she might have dived head first into bushes and climbed trees to catch the little fellow. “it looks pretty strong so i thought i would give it to you. you couldn’t win beetle battles with just any beetle.” she nods along to her own words, then points at the beetle. “the red ones are special. and pretty feisty, it reminded me of you. happy valentine's day, captain!” ( kid pirates verse cuz captain deserves the shittiest coolest valentine's day gift in existence <3 )

          As if aware of the introduction, the ruby insect in question seems to deliberately shift into the overhead glow of the candlelight, reflecting the warm yellow tones across its glossy exoskeleton. Though it barely moves an inch, the sheer mass of the beast combined with the sight of oversized pincers lined with studded teeth would cause one to associate it with a dangerous nature; something that could, if provoked, cause notable harm. It should go without saying that Kid is enamored with the gift. He leans in to the clear container to get a closer look at the specimen, taking in the sight of it from different angles. Taps the glass with the tip of an equally red nail, trying to tempt the beetle into further movement.

     ❝ Right beast, he is. ❞      He decrees, a signal of his approval accompanied by a smile that displays both rows of his teeth.

     ❝ He's a fighter, then? A bitey one? ❞      It would be for the best if he is a fighter, as she claimed. God knows he was prone to unintentionally squishing tiny creatures whether he intended to or not — he wasn't known for having an especially delicate touch. If the beetle were to survive under his care, it would need to be determined to cling to life.      Kid would not state this information to Uta. He will do his best to care for the bug to the best of his abilities. Perhaps he will make a larger container for it in the near future so it has more room to roam. He ponders over this for a few more moments as he continues to admire the red stag, before finally drawing his attention back to the girl before him.

     ❝ Damn nice of ya.      He'll get a nice spot on a shelf in my workshop. ❞           Placed somewhere he could be easily admired. A very high compliment from the surly mechanic.

Before Kid returns to seating himself upright in his chair, he extends his right hand towards Uta's two-toned hair; plucks a dry leaf from her bangs, then looks at it trapped between his fingers.

     ❝ ...Hold on, before ya go. ❞

A few pieces of silver scrap metal scattered over the floor begin to hover closer to him; all odds and ends he had been intending to save for a future project, now being put to another purpose. He draws a thin sheet of steels to his hands, and begins to effortlessly contort it like he was handling paper. Magnetized fingers fold and bend the material with ease, smoothing down previously sharp edges, reshaping the item like wet clay. He works for a few minutes, carefully fussing over his ongoing creation without another word until it's finished. The metal groans and creaks under his command and progressively shrinks into its new shape.

When he is finally satisficed with the product, he presents it to the musician seated across to him on a flat palm. A shiny silver hairclip, with a little metal beetle attached to the front. It's not quite as intimidating as the one she brought to him, admittedly; it borders more into a simple and cutesy idea of a beetle rather than bearing a ferocious appearance. Still, he thinks it's fairly obvious what it's supposed to be, and that's good enough. It'll keep those bangs out of her eyes, and maybe then she won't get quite so much foliage in her hair when she goes bug hunting.

          Kid drops the hairclip into her lap with a flick of his hand.

"Look at him!" The bunny in Uta's arm was held up to present her friend to him. She had decorated him with a ribbons, one red and another white, in a way trying to imitate both Sizhui's and Jin Ling's ribbons. The little girl is quite proud of her work. "Isn't he cute? Now he looks like you!"

Violet eyes turned to Uta as he heard her footfall. Sizhui had brought her home to Jin Ling. He knew that as fellow gremlin's they would take to each other. It also didn't hurt that Jin Ling had the kind of wealth where he could bail out her friends as well.

"hello sweets " The warm smile on his face was sunny as he moved to greet her with a gentle hand to the top of her head. "oh, look at that." he said "You gave him ribbons like mine and Jin Ling's as well." he gave the bunny's ears a gentle rub. "Aren't you a pretty little soul." he asked and beamed at Uta "Look at this my little one, it is also like you." he indicated fondly. "Two tone ribbons, and two tone hair." he said pleased. "So while it is like me it is also like you."

"Now have you named this bunny yet ?" he asked curious as he reach for a hand to lead her into the kitchen where he had been cooking. "I just finished cooking are you hungry--" he rubbed the bunny's nose delicately "I have some lettuce hearts just for you." he told the bunny. "And I have cakes ready for you, Uta." @melodysian
