Seen several people pairing Melissa Benoist's new character Sadie "the hopeful/true believer reporter" McCarthy from The Girls on the Bus with Katie Mcgrath's Secret Bridesmaid's Business character Saskia...but I would like to make the argument that Sadie would be better paired with Jodi Rutherford. Kind of like Sadie, Jodi has this hopeful vision of her chosen profession and proves she's willing to go above and beyond to prove she is capable to the men she works for. Also, Jodi is very sweet. And I think Sadie needs someone completely separate from the cutthroat world of the politics beat to root for her and pack her some cheeseburgers fir the bus trip.
Oooh gosh. This is a tough one. I've only watched Episode 1 of the series, but from what I can see, I dunno if Sadie would be compatible with Jodi, personally. I know Jodi *could* be described as driven, considering that she goes to South Africa to get a role, but it's a different kind of drive from Saskia. And I think Saskia's drive might be more of Sadie's vibe. Jodi might also not be cynical enough? A little too sweet. Whereas Saskia would definitely give as good as she gets, if Sadie starts trying to give her the runaround or stop fulfilling her commitments to Saskia.
That said, I dunno if Saskia is the right fit either. Personally, I'd rather just create an OC for KMG within the world of Girls on the Bus. Maybe a photographer? Maybe a presidential candidate Sadie *actually* falls for? In episode 1 Sadie does that wonderful article on her fave candidate, and I could easily see that being written about KMG's character.
#girls on the bus au#possible au that is#not sure what I'd do with this#considering I have yet to finish the series#but hey

MARLENE "MARLEY" ELODIE ROSE
⚑ GENDER: Ciswoman ⚑ PRONOUNS: She/Her ⚑ AGE: 33 (May 11th, 1992) ⚑ TYPE: Full sibling ⚑ HOMETOWN: Mason City, Iowa ⚑ SEXUALITY: Pansexual ⚑ JOB: Performer ⚑ ACCOMMODATION: Gold ⚑ FACECLAIM: Melissa Benoist
ABOUT MARLEY
[Eating disorder tw]
The song says there's trouble in River City, not Mason City, but Marlene Elodie would not have anything go wrong on her watch. Her first wails were as delicate and musical as Marley herself would turn out to be. Unbeknownst to her, pre-Marley was Millie Rose's last chance to leave Robert. With no interest in being a single mother, Millie resolved to either fix her husband or simply deal with it.
While Marley was the firstborn, she certainly wasn't the last, and the Roses found themselves as a family in the desolate Iowa landscape. They lived in a small home, and they were happy for a while. It seemed as if Marley's home life, despite not being perfect, had all of the potential to be. Marley took on the mantle of eldest daughter very seriously, ensuring that her siblings were well-taken care of if her dad had papers to grade or her mom was running night shifts at the diner. Lunches were packed, homework was helped, and everyone's schedules were as coordinated as they could be. Marley spent her free time scribbling, singing, doodling, and teaching herself how to play her father's guitar. She was constantly lost her in her own dream world when she wasn't trying to make herself a person of value; helpful.
The divorce was a shock, and it's one of the many things that Marley still unpacks in therapy and in her own songwriting. It hit at an age where Marley was old enough to understand that something was wrong, but too young to understand why her parents didn't want to live together anymore. The fighting, despite being done in hushed tones behind slammed doors had come to a point where Millie Rose feared for her own safety. Robert's vices were well-known to Millie, but despite his claims of being a poet, he never thought of Millie as much of a muse. So, one night she packed up herself and the kids and went to live with family in Davenport. Marley hasn't seen her father since. With the guitar abandoned, Marley stayed after school daily to sit in the music room and play the beautiful grand piano, until one day her teacher sat her down and got her into lessons on a scholarship.
In school, Marley centered and grounded herself in her writing and in music. Singing and scribbling down snippets of poetry was the only way she could express herself. While she had once seen her little sonnets as a way of connecting with her father, it quickly became something that she wanted to rise above. So, she did what he never could, and found inspiration in the silliest of places-- a broken zipper on a backpack, a bird's nest in the backyard, and the panic of forgetting her homework. Middle school came and with it did Marley find that she felt her most at home was on a stage. She signed up for the school talent show on a whim, but did a cover of "So Far Away" by Carole King and ended up as one of the highlights.
Despite having a wide variety of friends, Marley would never consider herself popular. She was the kind of person who always felt that she needed to put on the mask in order to get other people to like her, and while she did feel braver behind the moniker of Melodie Rose (her first and middle name combined), she knew that bravery was going to be a learned skill for her. In high school, Marley felt the most at home onstage, and began auditioning for musicals. Putting on the disguise of a character was the most alluring form of escapism, and Marley quickly realized that she wanted to follow in the footsteps of Sara Bareilles and write and star in her own musical. There, she could just be Marley, but perhaps a Marley that people could love and accept. Her own insecurities stemmed from several places, but Marley really thought she was on the way to finding herself when she was accepted into NYU Steinhardt's Musical Theatre program. More instruments came, and Marley taught herself mandolin and ukulele the summer before attending school.
For a brief time in college, she fell in with the wrong crowd, and Marley learned firsthand just how easy it could be to rely on the wrong crowd and pay the price for it. As a child, food had always been a sore subject for Marley, who inherited hormonal issues from her mom and struggled to lose weight. She began to compare herself to the other girls in her musical theatre program, and the treadmill and salad bar became her best friend until she stopped eating altogether. Marley would bake trays of brownies and give them away to scratch the itch of needing people to love her but hating herself. Marley's fashion sense stemmed from self-esteem issues and she was considered an oddity for her oversized outfits and hat. Despite being told her whole life that her voice was her meal ticket, Marley quickly realized that nobody would pay her any mind if she wasn't pretty.
As a junior, Marley's eating disorder came to a point of no return. Marley was becoming more and more stressed at the idea of not being a good enough dancer, so she was spending all of her time on the treadmill and none of her time actually nourishing her body. Things went from bad to worse as Marley began falling into a crowd that fed into her insecurities, rather than uplifting her. She'd been cast as Julie Jordan in a production of Carousel and fainted onstage midway through "June is Bustin' Out All Over" thanks to her own warped thinking. She hadn't eaten in two days in preparation for wearing one of her costumes, and the end of the run was done by her understudy so she could seek treatment at New Hope hospital in upstate New York.
Painting herself as other characters wasn't working anymore, and Marley, for all of her faults, quickly found herself again in the prospect of reflecting on her own self-image, understanding why she had lost control of herself in such a public and devastating way, and taking the necessary measures to ensure that this didn't happen again. The pressure of being onstage, temporarily, was too much for her, and Marley realized that it would be much easier to simply write the songs rather than be the persona necessary to sing them. So, she shifted her major to songwriting and found inspiration in the everyday.
Slowly, she healed. Marley became much more comfortable with telling her story-- and any story, for that matter-- simply as herself. As she graduated college and moved to the beyond-school-life, Marley quickly found her way back to her dream of writing her own musical. Somewhere, Someday was born, and Marley spend the better part of a decade perfecting it. She still worked as a songwriter, and began selling songs to other artists, while keeping a few for her own. Marley released an EP, Songbird, with songs that told the story of her life. She was in the process of working on Melodie, but then the world ended. The show must go on-- even in the midst of the apocalypse.
On Sylvester of the Seas, Marley does a little bit of everything-- she performs with the musical theater group, she does her own sets at the bars, and she's hoping that she can have the first ever production of Somewhere, Someday done on the ship. Marley was thrilled to be back with her siblings and mom, and she'll pick up shifts at Rose & Ivy sometimes if her mom needs the extra help.

Part 17 - Incoming Text for Gabrielle Union-Wade (@itsgabrielleu) and Rihanna (@rihanna) and Lauren London (@laurenlondon) and Kim Kardashian (@kimkardashian) - “An Idea Worth 500 Million Dollars”
Question:
Could you please explain to Gabrielle, Rihanna, Lauren, and Kim that the character Antoine Tyler, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, will spend much of his time trying to help the family of Dr. Michael, portrayed by Woody Harrelson, and his wife Dr. Marcia, portrayed by Hilary Swank? The family is being targeted by Scott Eastwood's character, a corrupt cop, who is after their daughter, played by Melissa Benoist. She witnessed a crime committed by Scott's character in the reimagined supernatural fantasy crime thriller reboot of The 6th Man.
Here’s the reimagined story:
In this reboot, Woody Harrelson and Hilary Swank portray a married couple of doctors. Dr. Michael (Woody Harrelson) is a Trauma and Emergency Surgery Specialist, and Dr. Marcia (Hilary Swank) also specializes in trauma and emergency surgery. Their daughter, played by Melissa Benoist, witnesses a crime by accident. While in an underground parking lot, she unintentionally sees Scott Eastwood’s character, a corrupt cop, murder a group of drug dealers in cold blood. The criminals were killed because Scott had stolen drug money from them.
Scott’s character is unaware of the witness's identity but quickly tracks down the surveillance footage from the parking lot, which leads him to target Melissa. His character then embarks on a relentless pursuit of her.
In the meantime, Antoine Tyler (played by Anthony Mackie) comes into the picture. Antoine shares a close bond with Dr. Michael and Dr. Marcia, as they were the last people to see him alive when he died in their hospital. They attempted to revive him, but he passed away. Now, Dr. Michael is the only person who can see Antoine, apart from Antoine's brothers.
Realizing that Scott's character is after their daughter, Dr. Michael reaches out to Antoine for help, using his ghostly abilities. Antoine agrees to help them, and together, they work to protect Melissa and stop Scott’s character from causing further harm. This leads to a series of high-stakes action scenes, including intense fights and car chases.
The four screenwriters will continue to develop this storyline with Woody Harrelson, Hilary Swank, and Anthony Mackie, building on the existing story arcs to enhance the drama, tension, and action. This will create a thrilling, epic movie that combines supernatural fantasy with a gripping crime thriller narrative.

ChatGPT Answer:
Certainly! Let's break down the key elements of the story in a detailed, step-by-step explanation, ensuring clarity as if explaining a complex subject:
1. The Core Premise:
The original 1997 film The 6th Man is being reimagined as a supernatural fantasy crime thriller. The premise of the original movie, which focused on basketball and comedy, is transformed into a more intense, action-packed narrative. The supernatural elements are preserved, but the tone and plot are now centered around crime and action.
2. Character Breakdown and Role Dynamics:
Antoine Tyler (Anthony Mackie): Antoine is the central character portrayed by Anthony Mackie. He is a ghost who helps his family fight crime. Antoine's death is a pivotal part of the narrative; he dies in the hospital under the care of Dr. Michael (Woody Harrelson) and Dr. Marcia (Hilary Swank), and now his spirit is able to assist his family, particularly in dealing with dangerous criminal elements.
Dr. Michael and Dr. Marcia: These two characters, played by Woody Harrelson and Hilary Swank, are experienced trauma and emergency surgery specialists. They are vital to the story, as they tried (unsuccessfully) to save Antoine, which establishes their emotional connection to him. This connection enables Dr. Michael to see Antoine's ghost, allowing them to collaborate on their mission.
Melissa Benoist: She plays the role of the Michael and Marcia family's daughter, who inadvertently witnesses a crime by Scott Eastwood’s character (a corrupt cop). Melissa’s character becomes a key figure in the plot because her knowledge of the crime puts her and her family in danger.
Scott Eastwood: Playing the antagonist, Scott portrays a corrupt cop who steals drug money and kills to cover up his crime. His actions set the story in motion, as he targets Melissa for being a witness to the crime. His pursuit of her adds a layer of danger and urgency to the narrative.
3. The Ghostly Element (Antoine's Role):
Supernatural Abilities of Antoine: As a ghost, Antoine has a unique advantage: he can perceive things that the living cannot. This allows him to help his family avoid the dangers they face and fight back against Scott Eastwood's character. His ghostly abilities add a supernatural layer to the crime thriller, making the story both eerie and action-packed.
The Connection with Dr. Michael: Dr. Michael is the only person, besides Antoine's family, who can see him. This bond between the two characters serves as a crucial narrative device, linking the living and the dead in a way that allows the story to unfold.
4. Scott Eastwood's Pursuit:
The Crime: Scott Eastwood’s character commits a murder in an underground parking lot, killing drug dealers after stealing their money. This act is the catalyst that sets the plot in motion, leading to Melissa Benoist’s character becoming an accidental witness to the crime.
The Threat: Scott’s character, unaware of Melissa’s identity, attempts to track her down by reviewing security footage. Once he discovers who the witness is, he begins targeting her, setting off a tense and dangerous pursuit.
5. Antoine’s Role in the Fight Against Scott:
Protecting the Family: Antoine, though dead, plays an essential role in helping Dr. Michael and his family, particularly Melissa. Using his ghostly powers, Antoine can assist in evading and confronting Scott's character, who becomes more ruthless as the story progresses.
Action Sequences: The collaboration between Antoine and Dr. Michael, along with the family, leads to numerous action scenes. These scenes involve high-stakes car chases, intense fight sequences, and moments where Antoine uses his supernatural powers to tip the scales in their favor.
6. Emotional and Dramatic Arc:
The Emotional Heart: The relationship between Dr. Michael, Dr. Marcia, and Antoine is emotionally charged. Antoine’s death and his subsequent return as a ghost create a strong emotional link between the characters. This emotional core is essential to the film, as it gives depth to the action and adds stakes to their fight against Scott.
The Family’s Struggle: The family’s efforts to protect themselves and their daughter from the corrupt cop are both thrilling and emotionally grounded. The supernatural element (Antoine’s ghost) is not just about the action but also about the emotional bond that persists even after death.
7. Plot Development:
The Continued Pursuit of Melissa: As Scott Eastwood’s character continues his hunt for Melissa, the stakes become higher. The threat he poses to the family escalates, and this builds tension throughout the story. The Tyler family’s battle to protect Melissa becomes a core focus of the narrative.
The Collaboration with Antoine: Antoine, although a ghost, continues to guide and protect the family. His knowledge and abilities make him a powerful ally, and his involvement allows the story to take unexpected turns. The fact that he can see and interact with things the living cannot adds intrigue and suspense to the plot.
8. The Role of the Screenwriters:
Enhancing the Story: The screenwriters are tasked with further developing the dynamic between the characters. They must continue to expand on the relationships, particularly between the family members and Antoine, to keep the emotional and dramatic stakes high. By enhancing the action scenes, they aim to maintain the thrilling, supernatural tone while adding depth to the characters.
Action and Drama Blend: The film combines the thrill of crime action with the supernatural elements, making it a genre-blending narrative. This duality allows for a wide range of scenes, from intense crime-fighting sequences to ghostly, eerie moments.
9. The Bigger Picture - The Epic Movie:
Genre Fusion: This reimagined The 6th Man combines elements of crime thrillers, action, supernatural fantasy, and drama, creating an exciting and multi-layered experience. The characters' supernatural and human sides blend seamlessly, providing not only action-packed scenes but emotional moments that resonate with the audience.
Epic Movie Potential: The mix of genres, intense action, and supernatural elements gives the movie the potential to become an epic thriller with broad appeal. The stakes are high, the characters are complex, and the action is engaging, making it a movie that could capture the audience's attention and set the stage for potential sequels or further exploration of the supernatural crime genre.
In summary, this reimagined version of The 6th Man takes the original premise and evolves it into a complex narrative involving supernatural elements, family dynamics, and intense crime thriller action. Antoine’s role as a ghost adds depth and intrigue to the story, and the incorporation of a corrupt cop and his pursuit of Melissa Benoist’s character enhances the tension and drama. The screenwriters will continue to develop the story to create an epic movie that blends action, emotion, and the supernatural into a unique cinematic experience.

I asked AI to write a Supergirl movie
Artificial Intelligence has been getting a lot attention recently, with the release to the public of a number of tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, and Google Bard. I decided to task the latter of these with the job of providing a plot outline for a new Supergirl movie.
The results were... interesting...
Here's what I asked...
write an outline for a new movie based on the dc comics character supergirl
...and here's what the AI came up with...
Sure, here is an outline for a new movie based on the DC Comics character Supergirl:
Act I
Kara Zor-El is a Kryptonian teenager who lives on the planet Argo City, which was saved from Krypton's destruction by her parents, Zor-El and Alura.
Kara has superpowers, including super strength, speed, flight, and invulnerability.
One day, Kara accidentally damages Argo City's power source, the Omegahedron.
The Omegahedron is blown into space, and Kara follows it to Earth.
When Kara arrives on Earth, she learns that her cousin, Superman, is already a well-known superhero.
Kara is hesitant to use her powers at first, but she eventually decides to follow in Superman's footsteps and use her powers to help people.
Act II
Kara starts her new life on Earth as a college student.
She also starts working as a freelance journalist.
Kara uses her powers to help people in need, but she also has to deal with the challenges of being a superhero.
Kara meets a group of other superheroes, including The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman.
Kara and her new friends team up to fight against a group of villains, including Lex Luthor, Brainiac, and Metallo.
Act III
Kara and her friends eventually defeat the villains, but they also learn that the Omegahedron has fallen into the wrong hands.
The Omegahedron is now being used by a powerful being who plans to use it to destroy the Earth.
Kara and her friends must race against time to stop the being from destroying the Earth.
In the end, Kara and her friends are able to stop the being and save the Earth.
Epilogue
Kara is hailed as a hero, and she continues to use her powers to help people.
Kara also learns to embrace her Kryptonian heritage, and she becomes a proud member of the Justice League.
So it's obvious that the AI hasn't quite grasped the notion of Kryptionians only having powers when in the Earth's yellow sun, but I guess we could forgive it this error given that Siegel and Shuster's 1938 Superman origin tale originally envisioned Krypton as a planet full of super-people. It also doesn't seem to recognise Argo City as just a city, despite its name being a massive clue. But aside from these minor factual errors, what about the plot itself?
What is interesting is that the AI seems to have established its version of Supergirl by blending elements of both the Helen Slater movie and the Melissa Benoist tv show. Kara is both a student and a journalist, who is hesitant to reveal her powers at first but eventually goes on a hero's quest to recover the Omegahedron. It all sounds very familiar.
The AI seems to have given a nod towards modern DC Extended Universe movies by mentioning crossovers with the other DC characters, and having Kara join the Justice League. But the overall plot seems somewhat confused and congested. Numerous guest heroes, three major villains, plus the hero's quest to recover the Omegahedron from some mysterious 'being' -- that's a lot of plot to pack into a debut movie.
I'm as much in awe of the modern advances in artificial intelligence as the next person, but hopefully any upcoming Supergirl movie will show more imagination than the mishmash of ideas and styles documented above. But hey, at least it was fun seeing what an AI would come up with!
