Snakebite chuckled, low and amused. They seemed to enjoy the reaction they were getting from the other greatly, fueling their ego.

She pulled Kyo a little closer, looking across to Nat with an easy smile. "Oh hey, you know them, too, huh? What a coincidence. I met them not too long ago when they came to visit my auntie."

The edges of their mouth twitched up into a little smirk. "As for me, I heard some rumors that there was some exclusive event going on, so I hopped over to take a look. I ain't about to miss a party~"

"Now then..." they grinned wider, their arm sliding down to curl around Kyo's waist, "How about those drinks~?"

(SB at Kyo) Snakebite sidles up to Kyo, throwing an arm around the other's shoulders and pulling them closer. "Well, hey there~ What brings you to this little shindig? Want to get a drink, maybe?"

"I-I-" Kyo stammered for a moment. She hadn't been prepared to be approached by someone who checked so many of her boxes, and the coquito was NOT helping matters. She scrambled for a moment trying to think of something to say. Anything.

"I came on a visit to Nathaniel and his friends," she finally managed. Kyo took a deep breath in to regain part of her composure, hoping to not make a complete and utter fool of herself. "A drink... sounds nice, yes. You'll have to tell me what brings you to visit as well." Kyo suddenly found herself very desperate to know if Nat was familiar with this very attractive person and why he had failed to mention them at all before.

HA I FINISHED IT!  Now i finally have a good clean ref for The Crime Nerd Squad.  And also @kuixotic ‘s Nat is here too.

It’s so funny to see them all lined up next to each other.  Nobody is an average height here.  Also weird seeing Jack in street clothes for the first time in 10 years.  He looks like he works at Best Buy or something

(@shaymincafe) Shaymes approaches Snakebite and bows. "Blessings be upon you and your kin," he says. "Quite the sampling of food you have there. Any particular favorites amongst the buffet?"

( @divine--theatre ) Despite being in a rush, it's not too difficult to spot such bright pink hair. Soven interrupts his run to go up to Snakebite. He made a gesture to Snakebite, a recognizable wave, then an attempt at tapping his feet in morse code and chirping since he knew he couldn't speak a language she'd understand; he tried to communicate something along the lines of "Snakebite, hi! I didn't expect to see you here! How's everything at home? Your mom's business?" He was polite enough to try and ask, but he clearly looked like he was eagerly expecting something.

[There's a click and a whoosh as one of the Pokeballs in Snakebite's pockets bursts open]

Snakebite shrugged a little, unconcerned by the rejection and brushing it off like it was nothing. Their smirk smoothed into an easy smile.

"Hey, you can't blame a gal for tryin'."

They perked up a little bit as Gabe went on, smiling a bit wider.

"Alolan, yeah! Yeah, that's probably me. So you're Shortstack's cousin, huh? Damn, they really missed out on the height gene, huh."

They snicker a little bit at their own joke, taking a moment to sip their drink before continuing.

"Still, I saw 'em in that tournament not too long ago. You must be pretty proud of them."

(SB to Gabe) Snakebite slides into one of the stools, grinning as they lean on the counter and rest their face in their palm. "Damn, this island's got everything: great food, gorgeous bartenders.... booze. Mind mixing me a drink, pretty boy? I wouldn't say no to your number either," they wink

[Gabe's face flattens in expression, his tone shifting slightly as he doesn't outwardly react too much to Snakebite's words.]

I ain't your "pretty boy", also you look like you're the same age as my youngest cousin. Too young for me.

At least I'm feeling nice though. Besides, you look like someone my cousin Nat'a described awhile back. Alolan yeah?

[All the while he prepared a quick drink, simply opening a coconut from the top and pouring a shot into it before dropping a straw inside.]

(@agent-morpeko) Alicia approaches Snakebite as she peeks on her outfit.

"Hello! I hope you're enjoying the time here! An outfit? It kinda reminds me of a Team Skull. Y'know, they weren't evil in my world, although, they're a lil troublemakers, haha... Anyways, are you used to be associated with that team? Looks like there's no logos in your outfit."

SB: By the way, I like your costume. You're one of those furries, right?

(@masked-vee) Mouse was just grabbing all the food that could fit on their plate, after watching Snakebite and her buddy do the same thing. "Mouse! Limit yourself! You just recovered from a tummy ache after overeating." Grey scolded his friend as he grabbed the tiny Eevee's hood. He then waved to Snakebite and Crewel. "Sorry, my friend's eyes are bigger than their stomach." "Stitches and T are still teaching them portion control. Old habits die hard, I guess." Elizabeth mumbled.

Snakebite watched Mouse with a smirk of camaraderie, snickering a little to themself. They always approved of a little gluttony and chaos, after all.

Crewel was as placid as ever, chuckling in amusement as well at the younger mon's antics.

"Hey, don't worry about it. There's plenty for everyone. You're supposed to feast and relax at parties, yeah?"

As he registered what Elizabeth mumbled, his smile faded into concern. He looked between the members of the little group, searching their expressions.

"Is... Is everything okay? Do you guys not usually have food?" he frowned. "I don't wanna pry too much, but if you guys need food, take as much as you need," he said, gesturing at the tables.

While Wo had noticed Snakebite at the buffet tables, it would take a bit of time before he chose to interact.

Wo: "Greetings..! It is looking like you are having quite a good time over here..! May I ask if this the first time that you have been to an event like this?"

Snakebite looks over at the large Pokemon, raising an eyebrow. They take a half-step away, offering a smile.

"Whoa, sorry dude. Didn't mean to hog the buffet table. No need to get so grumbly."

[It appears that Snakebite cannot understand most Pokemon]

Franklin "Frankie" O'Connor

He's Monty’s Handler! Quick-tempered and intimidating, he's very nice once he opens up to you. He's got a surprising amount of anxiety under the belt, and uses smoking, boxing, and drumming to deal with it. Has already been clawed by Monty and has scars running under his tattoos. (He also has circuity tattoos running down each arm but I got really tired while drawing it ashsjd)

From Left to right:

Mele "Snakebite" Ka'uhane - a six foot brute (she/they) that's here for a good time, not a long time. Generally chill, but can have a quick temper and become moody/violent when pushed wrong. Likes teasing/bothering people, looking cool, and secretly enjoys Sanrio products and other cutesy things (they'd never admit it)

Nathaniel Reyes - Not actually my OC, don't look at him (I also borrowed him to Cameo)

Jack Harley - A lanky, 6'2", smart, well-meaning nerd that's also an idiot. Currently works as the DCA's Handler. Loves robotics and mechanics, motorcycles, stage magic, and anime. Is currently going to school part time for Astrophysics. Has ALSO gotten injured while working for the plex (choked by Moon and hit by a truck on the way home)

Danika "Dani" Bates - Tiny 4'10" spitfire of a woman. Generally quite laid-back, but very controlling. She gets things done, even if they're not in the most orthodox ways. Very goth and sassy and sarcastic, but not mean. She's currently Roxy's Handler.

Snakebite led the way towards the bar at a mosey. It wasn't like there was any hurry, after all. They had all night. Although, they couldn't deny that they were excited by the prospect of alcohol.

They kept their arm around her waist as they leaned against the bar and raised their hand to grab the bartender's attention, smiling when he finally came over. "Something fruity and pink, if you got that," they ordered. "One for the lil lady, too."

Speaking of the lil lady, they turned their attention back to her with a grin. "Y'know, I don't think I caught your name, sweetheart..."

Capital looked Snakebite up and down. The Cleffa immitated them. "I know that uniform," Capital said - not angrily, but rather smiling, maybe even slightly amused. "I have to ask, what are you 'up to'? Are you here to enjoy the festivities?" They asked, looking at the tables full of food, before continuing: "Or are you here to meet the Magi? Or something else, even."

Snakebite hummed, tilting their head to the side as they listened to Kyo.

"That's a shame; it's not even that difficult as far as names go. You shouldn't have had to change it. They should've just tried harder."

They give Kyo's hand a light, reassuring squeeze before lowering it and relinquishing their hold.

An easy smile returns to their face as the conversation turns back to them, the corners of their mouth curling. They take just a moment to grab their drink and take a long sip before answering, letting Kyo's question linger in the air.

"I got the nickname back on Akala when I first joined Team Skull. I didn't want to give em my real name at first-- it's not very intimidating-- and they needed something to call me, so they just called me "snakebites" and the name stuck. It was a sick-ass name, so I've kinda just been trying to live up to it," they chuckle. "I even ended up getting a few snake Pokemon to complete the look."

Yuko and Lance are still proving to be very daunting to draw, so my brain refuses to work on it.  Something about the scale of the next arc and how many big questions are going to be tackled -- and trying to figure out how to illustrate that well enough -- spooks my dumb bird brain.

SO I’ve been trying to trick it by working on self-indulgent shit as a reward.  I’m also trying to get back into writing too (it’s hard; writing is so hard).  So far it’s been working!  I AM making progress on the blogs-- it’s just slow going.
