Arcane SSB headcanons

(cus i’ve been replaying smash and the lack of arcane content is killing me-)

Jinx

mains the Inkling or Kirby

i always thought of Jinx as a splatoon player, she’d deffo enjoy the game as a whole (she probably also listens to the soundtrack)

uses the purple inkling girl cus there isn’t an inkling girl with blue hair pipipi

spams the splat bombs and the splattershot

also spams the booyah taunt

another character i think she’d main would be kirby

it’s the “cute but will beat your ass” character that she would pick

absorbs her opponents none stop

is far more insufferable with kirby than she is with the inkling

WILL rage quit if she’s defeated by a final smash

go-to stages are moray towers and gamer

Vi

started using little mac but stuck to incineroar after first use

spams the down smash where incineroar jumps in the air then body slams to the ground

says she won’t get competitive but does the complete opposite when she loses once

favourite stage is the boxing ring

gets cocky if she has the final smash

always teams up with jinx or cait if it’s a team battle

has beef with isabelle for a good reason or for no good reason

has definitely told cait that she looks like lucina from fire emblem

Caitlyn

started playing the game because of vi

varies from lucina and samus

will definitely be the cause of jinx’s rage

manages to get the most KO’s in team battle

WILL accuse jinx if she spams a side special too many times

does get competitive after a few matches

despises the wii fit trainer with every fiber of her being

go-to stage is the great plateau tower

plays classic mode every now and then

if she’s an excellent shot with her rifle, then she’s getting critical hits in the game

grabs every assist trophy that drops on the stage

Mel

has played smash rarely, but is always up for a challenge

elegant and cunning? she’s maining Bayonetta, specifically her third edit style

palutena’s temple is her favourite stage

is possibly the only calm one during a match

witch time and bullet climax are the combos she uses the most

“if you need to learn how to talk to a lady ask your mum” taunt is used at least 5 times during a match

“it was a fair game, dear” as she absolutely demolishes her opponent (probably Jayce or another councilor)

high chance that smash got her to play the actual bayonetta games-

Ekko

i headcanon him as the bigger gamer out of everyone

saw a fanart of him as twilight princess link AND IT LOOKED SO GOOD🔥

pirate ship and umbra clock tower are his go-to (cus, he’s the boy who shattered time-)

gets pissed if his final smash doesn’t hit anyone

if it’s a free for all, he’s targeting jayce, no second thoughts

has teamed up with jinx whenever vi would team up with cait (they would be a solid duo)

3. describe the first time you watched/played/read your f/o’s source content.

I first watched Arc.ane a bit after it originally released! iirc by the time I got to it, it was already done releasing all of the episodes. But I had watched it when I was in college, so that meant it was using Netflix on my iPad lol. I enjoyed it from the start tho. My parents ended up watching it on there own too, so we would chat about the episodes

4. who was your first favorite character when you initially got into your f/o’s source content? was it your f/o from the very beginning?

It wasn't Mel, but it was my other f/o from the show, Jayce! She was my second fav tho. Funnily enough the first time I ever posted anything about the show, before I even got to watching it, I was commenting on a gif set of her about how gorgeous she was. So technically she wasn't my fav overall watching it, but she was part of why I did end up checking it out!

7. are there any specific scenes/chapters/moments of your f/o that you find yourself going back to revisit more often than any other? 

I don't really think so, I haven't revisited anything from Ar.cane in a long while now

So now I gotta ask who's your favorite character from Arcane? I'm going to assume Viktor because Viktor is best boy and I love him so much and I think you do too, but I wanna know. If you can't choose one, give me top 3

Oh Viktor definitely, you know I love a man who looks like he's at death's door lmao.

Also he's one of the major catalysts for the whole show; Jayce would have taken his own life if Viktor hadn't shown up, Hextech never would have been fully realised and Heimerdinger probably would have taken steps to ensure that no one tried it again. The gemstone wouldn't have been stabilised, the Hexgates wouldn't have opened Piltover to the world, and Jinx wouldn't have stolen it and made her weapon for the finale.

And yet, he's one of the most isolated characters. He doesn't meet Vi or Jinx or Ekko. After he finds out he's dying he spends a lot of time on his own, trying to figure out how to cure himself with the Hexcore. Aside from Singed and Sky, he doesn't expand beyond his original interactions from Act 1, and he interacts with them because they're tied to his past in the Undercity. Otherwise he's limited to Jayce, Heimerdinger and Mel. He's just... a very lonely person.

But what really gets me is that even when he's dying and pushing the limits of what Hextech can do in an effort to save himself, he's appalled at anything that endangers people. He's completely against weaponising Hextech for any reason, he's horrified when Sky is killed; in spite of everything, he never gives up on his ideals. He wants to help people, wants Hextech to be the thing that can help them, but the world doesn't cooperate. And I think that's because unlike Jayce, who's made directly responsible for the consequences of Hextech and has to confront the reality first hand, Viktor can still hold on to his ideals. Aside from the theft and the blockade, he doesn't really see the domino effect going on outside. His medical situation has all of his attention, he can't really afford to look outside right now.

While a lot of characters stray from their ideals and have to confront that, I think Viktor's arc is more down to his recklessness and loneliness. He's willing to take risks that most people wouldn't take. As Jayce gets saddled with more responsibility and is made directly accountable for Hextech and it's impact on Piltover, he becomes more cautious because he's being confronted by the reality. Meanwhile Viktor is in the lab, still holding onto his ideals and very painfully isolated. He doesn't really have his ideals and actions challenged head on until Sky's death. Because he counted on the idea that he was going to be alone. He counted on no one coming in to check on him. He thought the risks were his alone and then Sky got killed because of it.

Vander:

- probably listens to old rock bands

- Caught her and claggor listening to some of his metal cds

- Claggor didn’t enjoy it but powder did

- Now vander and powder listened to metal together

- But if he find out you like his music too?

- How’s it’s your, hum, and powder enjoying the music

- And probably vi

- Mylo and claggor would be there but only cause it’s like a family thing

- Claggor enjoys the grunge bands while mylo complains that powder is too close to him, and vi’s snapped at him to shut up while you and vander wonder how everyone migrated to the room you three were in

Vi:

- probably listens to any type of music

- Glam rock? Sure, why not

- Rock? Most definitely

- Metal? Couldn’t hurt

- The only thing she wouldn’t listen too is classical

- She just gets bored quickly

- Like before the song starts she’s like “this is boring” and stops.

- If she finds out her s/o’s music taste however..

- Will try finding out your favorite songs

- Will fail on the first try

- “Hey babe, whatcha doin’?” “Nothin” she’s literally holding your band cds in her hands

- You find it cute and you two just sit there holding each other as your favorite music bands played

- you running your fingers through her hair or over her muscles and tattoos while laying the top half ontop of you, nuzzling her face in your belly as you enjoy listening to one of your favorite bands play from the small radio you got.

Caitlyn:

- ok, Caitlyn is a little different from the others

- We already know she likes serphine’s music so she would beg you to go to a concert with her multiple times.

- Which she bribed you with the promise that she will make/buy you the best cupcakes in piltover she can find.

- She would probably also like classical music

- Mainly Beethoven

- Probably because her parents kept a lot of other types of music away from her

- Which led them to teaching her how to play either the violin or a piano

- Which is fun for you because you begged her to teach you

- Teaching you eventually led to you two holding each other close whilst Beethoven played on a near by record player

Jinx:

- probably still listens to metal

- Because it reminds her of those good times she used to have with her family

- Probably also likes listening to jazmin bean

- She likes their makeup and their style of music

- “World wide torture” is one of her favs

- When she finds out you liked them too, she freaked.

- “WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO ALL THEIR SONGS RIGHTNOW!!”

- You two do listen to them all, one by one.

- You sitting in her desk chair while she sat in your lap, fiddling with something on her desk or drawing on your arm.

- She’d also listen to music a lot whenever she’s having a bad day with her hallucinations

- But sometimes, it doesn’t always work out

- That’s when you come in

- You show her some new songs while telling her about the lyrics

- “I know I can always count on ya toots!”

Sevika

- honestly, she couldn’t give a damn about what she listens too

- She’s honestly not the music type

- Well, that’s what everyone else thinks

- When it’s just you and her, she cares a little bit more

- For one, she’s always holding you in her lap while smoking a cigar and listening to one of the music cds you chose out played in the background.

- “The fuck is this?” Was a common saying with her to you when you chose a song

- Probably wouldn’t be a fan but would listen to it anyways since you love it so much.

- Secretly loves whenever you get excited about music

- She enjoys that you trust her enough to talk about your music all excited like.

Viktor:

- oh 100% listens to classical

- And only classical

- If he had a choice, that is.

- Don’t get me wrong, he enjoys other types of music.

- Will probably listen to some gothic music he’s heard of, but not all the time.

- He’d be sitting in his lab while listening to classical musicians as he jotted his notes down for the hextech.

- You however, always get him away from work just long enough for the two of you to be alone with each other, listening to some music he chose as he told you a few facts

- “Did you know he was deaf and blind? Fascinating, right?” He’d tell you

- You’d nod your head as you laid your head on his shoulder, holding his hand in yours as you closed your eyes.

- He often gets worried you don’t enjoy his music, so would always turn the music off after a short while

- Obviously you turn it on again

- You don’t have to like the music to enjoy time with your handsome bf

- Besides he needed a long overdue break from work and this worked out just fine.

Jayce:

- probably listens to classical too

- Maybe also some country

- Idk why I feel like he’d like it

- He’d also most likely listen to music in another language

- I feel like he’d be bilingual to some degree

- Like he’s still smart, he knows things

- You however, might not know a few songs

- Which means, he’d probably tell you, teach you, or leave you to find out 🥴

- You’d get pissed off, of course.

- But he doesn’t care bc you guys still love each other <3

- You’d be walking down the halls and heard some music coming from where jayce was working and investigated, only to find him singing along with the lyrics of the song.

- He’d yelp once he heard you call his name

- “I didn’t know you sang!”

- He’s very flustered, obviously.

- You eventually “exchanged” a deal where he’d teach you the language of a song and you wouldn’t tell viktor or mel

- All in all, a good day for you both

Mel:

- listens to violin or cello

- She’d play the music whilst painting

- Maybe a picture of you 👀

- I feel like she’d also like “enjoy the silence” by Depeche Mode

- You’d be sitting somewhere in the room where mel could see you, doing something else as she painted away on a canvas. Taking occasional glances at you and then returning her site to the painting of you she was making.

- Obviously she was nervous you’d find it and hate it

- So what did she do?

- Hide it somewhere where only she knew where it was

- You were looking for something, before accidentally stumbling upon her looking at the painting proudly

- “Is that me?..”

- she’d be flustered but would try playing it off as calmly as she could

- She’d place the painting down infront of her, the painted side facing her

- “Maybe, maybe not, do you need something?”

- Eventually tells you about it because she was starting to wonder if you liked it, which you did.

Grayson:

- probably likes older songs

- Like classical

- Probably would listen to “American pie”

- By probably I mean 100% knows it

- By heart

- She’s whisper to lyrics quietly to herself while you two listened to the song, just loud enough for you and her to hear her and the music as well

- She’d wrap an arm around you, pulling you close to her side before pressing a kiss to your temple.

- If you told her you liked her singing, her face would heat up so fast

- But no matter, she’d just find some more songs to whisper-sing to you

- Along the road you’d find her voice more calming, the whisper singing helping you sleep at night whenever you had trouble.

- She’d sing different songs related to American pie, and songs that reminded her of you
