Журналистам он сказал, что про смерть особо не думает — в детстве он рос рядом с двумя деревенскими кладбищами, где могильщики рыли ямы, шутили и пили пиво, поэтому смерть всегда для него была частью жизни, разве что жизнь оказалась и правда длинной, 96 лет. «Смерть это естественный переход, — сказал он, — Что за этой линией — это уже точка, где начинается тайна, где это все становится по-настоящему интересным. Есть какие-то проблески в сообщениях, которые оттуда приходят. Много разных знаков, и я во все верю. Текстам об этом я верю больше, чем всему написанному человечеством после 12-го века».
