Etymology Of Name: "史" means history (specifically in reference to a textbook or document of history), and "希" means hope (specifically something that is dim or fading). "菊" means chrysanthemum and "森" means forest. Together, it could be read as chrysanthemum forest.

Background: A boy who comes from a prestigious family. During the final week of grade nine, a confrontation with two classmates led to him losing his eye and being sent to boarding school for the entirety of his grade ten year. His desire to get revenge for the permanent marks on his record and the loss of his eye was amplified by finding the two former classmates who were involved in the incident going to the same school as him. While writing in his diary about his feelings, a notification on his phone displaying a song called "Untitled" popped up: after clicking it, he was transported to a strange and dark mansion known as "Manor SEKAI". After being welcomed by a mysterious Miku, Shiki resolves to uncover the secrets of the Manor and of his own mind.

Etymology Of Name: "幾" means "how many?" (as in asking about the degree or severity of something) and carries the additional meaning of "omen" or "wish". "朗" means bright and cheerful, but can also mean a clear or loud voice. "鈴" means bell. "居" means "to exist, reside, or stay".

Background: A very friendly and outgoing boy who hides many personal secrets. Around two or three years ago, he was in a romantic relationship that was very unhealthy (to put it lightly). After several months of doing everything he could to earn the love of his partner (including putting himself into uncomfortable situations), he was dumped leaving him with a deep feeling of personal inadequacy. After that, he resolved to make himself someone that people would like: disregarding his true feelings and interests for the sake of better suiting the people around him. As a member of the School Community Committee, he was tasked with helping some students with bad records (Shiki, Momoka) with acclimating to Asakura. Ikuro vowed to help Shiki however he could, and soon entered Manor SEKAI.

Etymology Of Name: "桃" means peach and "歌" means song or musical poetry. "能" means talent and "村" means village.

Background: She lives alone with her father, who is rarely around due to work. From a young age she was a "difficult child", as she'd often lash out at people over trivial things. She didn't have any friends and if she did she'd end up sabotaging the relationship somehow, leading to her having a very lonely upbringing. In her early teenage years she began to face bullying, ostracization, and coldness from peers and teachers alike: as her emotional stability got worse, everyone started referring to her as and treating her as "a lost cause". She became severely depressed and spiralled into paranoia and hatred of others. In her first year of highschool, she was sent to work with a member of the School Community Committee (Ikuro) to help her adjust to the school. Upon discovering Manor SEKAI, Momoka regains some hope of salvation for herself and decides to use it to help herself recover (something the others would soon follow).

Etymology: "廻" means "revolve" (as in go around in circles) additionally "turn" (as in to change direction), "留" means "detain" (stop or keep stationary). "土" means soil, "子" means "child" (as in offspring or descendant).

Background: A girl with an average family and home life. From a young age she displayed exceptional academic talent, and was easily able to rise to the top of all her classes. As she grew older, the expectations of her parents, teachers, and peers began to rise: although she could keep her grades and behaviours steady, those rising expectations soon made her usual efforts "not enough". As she entered highschool she was pressured into join the student council, and very quickly became the president: giving her a bunch more responsibilities. Feeling suffocated by the expectations and duties that once brought her pride, she adopted the persona of "the perfect student" to dissociate her real self from the person others want her to be. A new classmate of hers with a bad record (Shiki), begins to act suspiciously and hang out with an unusual group of people (Ikuro and Momoka). Meguru decides to follow Shiki to see what he's been doing, and accidentally discovers Manor SEKAI in the process. She puts together a plan that they, as a group, could help eachother through their issues using SEKAI and the power of music to express their feelings.

I'm not too happy with these designs (other than Shiki and Towa) so I plan on redoing them, but they work for now!

Instead of sleeping, I finished the (very, very rough) concept designs for Syndr∞memime!

I'm not fully happy with these and will probably change them a lot (Meguru & Ikuro's hair colors, Momoka's dress, maybe Meguru's outfit) but for now I'm just happy they've been drawn!!!

Meguru and Ikuro were actually hell, and Shiki was the easiest since I had a very clear idea of what I wanted to do for him. Momoka was straightforward and the first I drew, but as a result I think I'm the least happy with her outfit; I want to make her skirt/dress more fun. Ikuro's the only one who doesn't have his color (purple) on him, and I could probably explain that as a very subtle characterization thing but I won't.

Also, for anyone who read the original info dump post about Syndr∞memime (now deleted) things have changed a LOT, so the characters are quite a bit different from how they were originally described.

10. for syndr∞memime i feel like shiki despises children

Shiki: He's really bad with kids. He doesn't understand them in the slightest. He's the type of guy to not understand why a child is being "irrational" and would easily get bullied by a child. If a child starts crying in front of him he'd get grossed out and throw money at it until it stops crying.

Ikuro: His part time job is literally a babysitter, he's really good with kids and loves them! Definitely wants to be a parent eventually. Very much a "bleeding heart" type of person who cannot resist when a child asks really nicely. Additionally, children love him too: he absolutely brings gifts and candy all the time.

Momoka: They make her somewhat uncomfortable; she's not great with them, but she also isn't as bad as Shiki is! It'd take her a bit to warm up to any kids but I feel like she'd give great emotional support and also beat the everloving shit out of any bullies.

Meguru: Very good with kids and likes them, she just has a limit and can't spend too much time around them.

Oh yeah happy birthday Meguru (*her birthday got changed)!!! If I were capable of planning things I'd have draw something for her, but maybe instead I'll be done with the 50 questions for her by today :D!

Spent an hour gathering fonts to make some signature/handwriting canons(?) for my Proseka OCs! These are all subject to change, but it was a fun exercise!

Get to Know Your Character #3

1, 4, 10

We're doing all of the Proseka ocs again because I have problems!!!

Tw for referenced abuse, violence and suicide, skip past "1:" if you don't want to read about that!

1:

For Shiki, it's when he lost his eye. Shiki will not let himself forget and tries his best to think about it constantly: he lets his hatred for Ayataka and thirst for revenge govern his every action and mood (up until that all collapses on the revelation that the whole incident was a misunderstanding)

Takane is also Shiki losing his eye: coping with the guilt of feeling responsible for him losing it and the trauma of watching a guy's eye get stabbed out in front of you. He quite literally became a shut-in from the time of the incident until the main plot started happening, and is tormented by nightmares every night.

Ikuro has a lot. Like a lot a lot: he's trying so hard to repress everything. Probably the biggest and worst (or at least the start of his major issues) memory for him would be his relationship with Anzu; the entire thing was so toxic and abusive and it royally screwed up his self-image, perception of romance and relationships, and his views on things like physicality in relationships.

Momoka's is from her suicide attempt/near attempt, which happen(ed/s) during the course of her story. She had gone to that point and thought about it a lot before but that was definitely the worst she'd ever felt, and it's very difficult for her to talk about. She's overall very ashamed and a whole mix of emotions she doesn't like to think about.

Ayataka is a very positive person who doesn't think or talk about his issues much, but his time spent in juvie and his actions during the incident 2 years ago weigh heavily on him still. Again as a positive person he's decided to deal with it by making things up to Shiki and Takane however he can, and making up for lost time spent in juvie by joining clubs and maximising the fun he can have.

Towa is an... Interesting case because he's far to stubborn to admit to having any problems. His worst memory (or rather memories) are all the bullying he's gone through from his peers over the years and the neglect & demeaning from his parents. He doesn't deal with any of it at all.

Kotora's is definitely his pushing of Ikuro. Granted he didn't know that Ikuro was at his breaking point or going to react in the way he did, but Kotora still feels responsible for Takane almost getting seriously hurt and Ikuro having a full psychotic breakdown. Kotora doesn't usually let other people's issues phase him, but he does really wish he tried to approach and speak to Ikuro in a different (more gentle, sympathetic, and slow) way.

Meguru has many memories that she hates and wants to forget, but she's more or less accepted she can't change things and so just looks towards the future. Not the healthiest, but all her things are small issues that piled up.

4:

Towa. Where to start with Towa on this one? The entire formation of C×C is basically Towa taking huge risks and making big sacrifices for the (future) C×C members, but the biggest one was challenging Ayataka "just-out-of-juvie" Daimon to a fistfight to get answers about the incident to help heal Takane's trauma so he could come to school. This was before Towa learned that Ayataka is not a ruthless badguy and Ayataka is also like 6'3 while Towa is 5'5 so it was very dangerous but boy if he didn't do it.

Ayataka's was the whole incident involving Shiki losing his eye. The misunderstanding came from the fact that at the end of 9th grade, Shiki confronted Takane about a group project Takane caused them to flunk by lying and skipping class. Ayataka, thinking Shiki was trying to hurt Takane and seeing this as a last chance to make a friend, decide to try and "defend" Takane in the only way he knew how: violence. Ayataka and Shiki physically fought a lot and things escalated to Ayataka pulling out a knife and stabbing Shiki. Of course while he was in Juvie he thought he helped Takane, but got really sad and remorseful once he realised that he badly scared Takane and hurt Shiki for no reason.

Meguru sacrificed her reputation as student council president to make sure that Ayataka, Takane, Momoka, Shiki, and Kotora could all get adjusted to and enjoy school. She doesn't regret a thing and intends to keep helping everyone, despite the gossip that has started to surface about her hanging out with "ex-cons", "delinquents", and "freaks".

The rest don't have any major sacrifices that come to kind :P

10:

Towa wants to get "superstar-levels of great" at rapping and dancing.

Ayataka has a lot he wants to learn and master, but the main one right now is baking and cooking. He's also trying very, very hard to learn how to make friends and not look and act like a murderer.

Takane wants to get better at art (and also to have more confidence, but that one's a secret!)

Kotora doesn't feel the need to learn anything, but Meguru and Towa insist on teaching him some decent social skills.

Momoka is learning sewing (more specifically fashion)

Ikuro is currently going to therapy and learning some decent fucking coping mechanisms

Shiki just wants to untangle the mess known as his brain.

Meguru is trying to improve her metal-scream skills

I'm doing the Proseka OCs for this because I cannot stop thinking about them!!!

2:

Momoka has a crippling coffee addiction, but the rest of S∞M has gotten her to try hot chocolate and tea.

Meguru is a major tea buff: she knows all about the different methods of brewing tea and is doing her best to get the rest of S∞M to love tea as much as she does.

Shiki drinks tea and black coffee around others, but he actually prefers very sweet flavours and adds stupid amounts of sugar and honey in private. Nobody's sure why he feels the need to hide his drink preferences like this but he does (even though everyone already knows).

Ikuro doesn't have any particular favourite beverages, he just drinks whatever's available.

Kotora drinks coffee. Pure black, piping hot coffee. He does not wait for it to cool.

Takane exclusively drinks energy drinks and other sugary pop drinks. He didn't drink water for several months before C×C formed.

Towa drinks regular water and weird "health" drinks. He finds the health drinks disgusting but he drinks them anyways and pretends to like them.

Ayataka loves pop drinks, and can't stand tea or coffee.

6:

Meguru is the biggest reader of the group. Her favourite genre is actually slasher and other gorey-horror books. She especially loves to read these kinds of books when she's stressed.

Ikuro likes very macabre books and stories; things that are more psychological. The Edgar Allen Poe collection, No Longer Human, and other such books. He also reads lots of romance stories and fanfic.

Momoka is a fan of lower-stakes fantasy and adventure books. She reads more graphic novels, manga, and comics than novels.

Shiki isn't a big reader. When he does read it's mainly poetry, history books, and encyclopedias about different things.

Takane reads enough manga and comics to rival how much Meguru reads. He reads all genres, but his favourites are superhero or other action-packed ones and the more explicit romance genres.

Kotora doesn't read much, but when he does read he sticks to non-fiction and Takane and Meguru's recommendations.

Ayataka also doesn't read very much. He'll sometimes read through an interesting magazine or graphic novel, but that's about it.

Towa reads whatever Takane recommends him, but doesn't read otherwise.

8:

Shiki can't decide on if he's "super intimidatingly cool and aloof; unreachable to most people" or "a nice guy with a dark secret" when in reality he's just a known weirdo who doesn't pose like a human being.

Momoka is very unfriendly and she knows it. She's trying hard to follow Ikuro and Meguru's advice to be better at making (and keeping) friends, but she already has a reputation for being mean and scary.

Meguru has the patience of a saint and her ability to pretend not to hate or be annoyed by people is rivaled only by Ikuro. She's great at being friendly and polite.

Ikuro, much like Meguru, is very good at being friendly and approachable. Ikuro is friends with basically everyone.

Takane is very friendly, but also very shy.

Towa thinks he's super friendly and approachable, but he's actually very... "Much" to put it gently. He has way too much energy and bravado and it scares people off.

Kotora intentionally makes himself as aloof and off-putting as possible to avoid dealing with people.

Ayataka is trying so, so hard to be friendly and make friends but unfortunately he has the social skills of a swarm of angry wasps and friend making skills to match. He's currently undergoing friendship lessons.
