#365DaysOfVGM Day 60:
Chasing Eternity [Endless Attack] (Mega Man Unlimited [Fangame, 2013, update in 2014])
The nostalgic times of listening to symonikev’s music (Back when the username was music was "kevvviiinnn") long before I even had the courage to actually talk online. I'm talking a good 5 or 6 years before, I can't help but thank the guy for providing me moments of comfort with his music whenever I felt lost.
I specifically chose this track, because it feels like a culmination of most moods from those old original Mega Man works; melancholy, optimistic, intriguing, suddenly catchy, energetic in the coolest moments, a tad bit trippy, it’s all here.
I still personally like the game itself a lot, finding it to be the existing Mega Man franchise's most difficult qualities put into their extremes, for the better or worse; it's the tough, unforgiving game the general public made the old NES titles out to be, and if that sounds like your kind of thing like, then you're in for one of the most satisfying fangame experiences of your life, made by a team of strong-willed fans!
Check out symonikev's new works too, channel's still up and running with a stronger identity than ever before!
(Length before loop: 2.5+ minutes)

I don't post that often anymore... but I'm not dead! Lately I've been drawing classic mega man weapons in the MM11 style. But as a stylistic choice, I decided to keep the classic NES colors too. (Especially since back in the day, multiple robot masters would share a primary color).
These are the weapons I'd usually go for first when playing 1-5 (pretending 1 is the powered up version.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a bonus... I have a few fangame weapons too. So far Rock force, Unlimited, SFR, Dr Wily's Final Attack, and Rocks! Are being represented. With Scorching spear being my stylized Redesign version of the weapon.

CD Entry #004
Capcom is, at this point, somewhat known for their usually hands-off approach to Mega Man fangames, allowing the community creating and supporting these projects to flourish. In the early 2010s, however, they interacted far more with those passionate about the series, notably with their ‘Capcom Unity’ blog and their support and licensing of Street Fighter X Mega Man in 2012. One example of this interaction that likely wasn’t nearly as intentional, however, was the website for Mega Man 10.
Tumblr media
The problem here may not be immediately obvious for those not versed in popular fan works, but it becomes glaring if noticed: the background used here behind the game overview (and, in fact, all tabs of this info box) is not only absent from Mega Man 10, but every official game in the Mega Man series. It instead belongs to the stage of ‘Comet Woman’ from the fangame known today as Mega Man Unlimited.
Tumblr media
Before the announcement of 10 and this website’s launch in 2009, however, said project was also named Mega Man 10, as 9 had been the most recent entry at that point. It’s therefore likely that this inclusion was done entirely by accident, possibly from the creator of the website not being familiar with the series and using an image from a search engine without checking its legitimacy. As far as internet archives have saved, it appears this error was never corrected during the website’s life, and while the site appears to be nonfunctional today, it can be visited in its original state on the Wayback Machine here. As for the fangame itself, its renaming to ‘Unlimited’ occurred around this time because of this, and it is remembered more in that form today than from its time as the unofficial 10th entry.

How I would reboot and reimagine MegaMan (Classic), MegaMan Zero, and MegaMan X pt. 1
Mega Man's story telling is horrible. It leaves way too many untold details about major plot points. I understand that it was done due to console limitations in some cases, but when there's current day ports of these where the info isn't anywhere to be seen, I really can't let that slide. For example, how many of you know about Elpizo's backstory, which is the whole reason why he acts the way he does? Or the fact that Mamoru is the son of the Yoka Inn owner, and Tamako's nephew, making them sisters? Or that the guardians died to shield Zero from Omega's explosion? Or even something as basic as knowing the base plot of Mega Man 3? Either your answer is "I do, because I listened to the audio dramas, bought every book, or read it on the wiki", or "What the fuck are you on about?". And not just that. Plot holes, dropped plot points, and just bad writing in general in some parts. Who remembers the Wily plot point in X2, X5 and X6? Great, now who remembers it being elaborated on and given a proper conclusion? Precisely. Every series suffers from this, no exception. Or how characters are killed of just because, like, for example, Red. Or how characters get dropped out of nowhere, like Dr. Cain, Dynamo, Douglas, etc.
So here's how I would reboot MegaMan, MegaMan Zero, and MegaMan X.
For Classic MegaMan, I would add more story and lore behind Dr Thomas Xavier Light, Dr. Albert W. Wily, ProtoMan/Blues Light, MegaMan/Rock "Rocky, Mega" Light, Sanitary/Roll Light, Bass, Dr. Cossack, Kalinka Cossack and Duo as well as add new characters Yuta Kobayoshi, Akane Kobayoshi and their parents Mr. and Mrs. Kobayoshi and I'll call them Hanasei Kobayoshi and Minato Kobayoshi via their story and lore, Yuta and Akane are best friends of Rock and Roll, Minato is a close friend of Dr. Thomas Xavier Light. Geo Stellar is also in this reboot but he goes by code name BlueStar and Sonia Strumm who goes by the name of Harp Note, Geo and Sonia are affiliated with Porto Man and they are best friends of Proto Man.
Now for the Chronological Story
Mega Man.
Mega Man 2.
Mega Man World: Dr. Wily's Revenge
MegaMan 3.
MegaMan World 2
MegaMan Origins
MegaMan 4
MegaMan World 3
MegaMan: The Wily Wars
Mega Man 5
Super Adventure MegaMan
MegaMan World 4 [Geo and Sonia's first appearance
MegaMan World 5
MegaMan 6 [Yuta and Akane's first appearance]
MegaMan 7
Mega Man: The Power Battle
MegaMan 8
Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters
MegaMan and Bass
MegaMan 9
MegaMan: Dr. Wily's Return
MegaMan 10
MegaMan Unlimited
MegaMan: Rock Force
MegaMan Eternal
MegaMan 11
MegaMan Eternal 2
MegaMan Revolution
I'll come up more Classic MegaMan Reboot but for now this part of Rebooting MegaMan, MegaMan Zero, and MegaMan X.

Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection Art Countdown Event!
Hi everyone, I'm back with more! I'm so sorry, I was hoping to get this started a bit earlier, but better late than never.
With the clock ticking down, we are getting ever closer to the release date of the Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection, which launches on April 14th. And to help celebrate that, while enjoying some memories of the series, we are going to have a little art countdown event.
Tumblr media
Read on after the break for the event rundown.
How will this work?
Well, for starters this is an open signup, welcome to artists of any skill level. The signup will consist of you choosing one single Net Navi, virus, boss or human character from the Battle Network/EXE franchise that you would like to draw. It will be first come, first serve. Once a character has been chosen, nobody else will be able to take them. Cross Fused/Soul Unison/Cross characters will be considered their own unique character to choose from.
To go along with the character you choose, we will also require a secondary Battle Network-related prompt to include with your character. This could be any battle chip/weapon/attack/Program Advance for a Navi, such as Kawarimi or Hi Cannon. It could be a location, such as MaHa Ichiban or SciLab, that you draw as a background. It can be a reference to an anime episode, such as baseball outfits, Neko virus or swimsuits at the hot springs. Etc., etc.
Your character and prompt do not have to match something we have seen in the games/anime. So that way, we can have unlimited fun with it! So if you wanted to draw Meijin-san in the Aki idol outfit from the anime, or disco agent outfit Mariko-sensei, that is allowed! Create a Zoano-form for a Navi that never was in Beast or Cross Fuse a pair that never showed up in Stream. This is up to your imagination. I will list a few example prompts, but feel free to come up with your own.
Since I failed and am behind on launching this, I'm not sure if we will be able to post art for a full 30 days before the game's launch on Friday, April 14th. We can still try, if we have some fast artists and enough people join in. But the goal will be to have the first pieces submitted and ready to post 21 days before (March 24th), giving us 3 weeks of content counting down until the game's release date.
Between @tentokki and myself, we are going to try to keep a public spreadsheet of what has been taken updated and as current as possible as people sign up. This first day or so might be a little messy as we try to see who called who first and get everything initially set up, so try to have a backup option or two ready. While I am opening this up tonight, I might not be able to get back to everyone to update this list until tomorrow afternoon, as a disclaimer. Appreciate your patience! Please try to watch through the replies to ensure someone hasn't already called out your choice first. Once you have gotten the OK in a reply back and are added to the list, you are on the clock to begin working on your art.
There will not be a hard deadline for everyone to start out, but we will need at least one person done and ready before March 24th. Please choose a realistic deadline for yourself between March 23rd-April 14th, so that we can assign you to post on that specific day.
TLDR; When signing up, we need: 1.) A character 2.) A BN related-prompt included in your art 3.) Your own chosen deadline date between 3/24 - 4/14/2023
(View confirmed sign ups on this spreadsheet)
When you are finished, please send your art to me via DM or email [rock2125(at)hotmail(dot)com], and we will make sure you are set up a day for you to post your art. Then, when we hit that March 24th date, we will begin the countdown by having artists post their pic to their Twitter/tumblr, asking you to use the hashtag #MMBNLCCountdown in your post, along with stating the number of days remaining until the collection's release.
If we get enough participants, then some days we might have more than 1 piece of art posted. Sky and I will then be reblogging/retweeting your posts each day, so that the focus is on your account and art. We'll continue counting down with new art each day until we reach the game's release.
What's in it for you?
Well, besides hopefully having fun and reminscing a bit, I will also once again hold a prize/prize money raffle to give away copies of the game (standard version) for those who complete a pic. But once again, like the Valentine's Event, you will only be eligible for this raffle if you sign up, submit your art to me, and complete your art in time.
Already preordered it? Well, I'll instead offer you the cash to cover what you paid, if your name is drawn. As always, please have a valid Paypal account to receive your winnings. Total amount of prize winners not set in stone, but likely at least 6.
How to sign up! Sorry if I was not totally clear when I first posted this yesterday in my haste to get it online, but please either comment on this post, the Twitter post, or send a DM with your choices to sign up. Once again, please check the spreadsheet to see what has been taken already. The spreadsheet linked above is publicly viewable, but you are not editing or signing up on there. That is just for everyone’s reference as I officially confirm each sign up.
We will begin to assign people days to post as we get closer to the March 24th date. If you finish early, before your estimated deadline, still send it in via DM/email to me. The more people are done before March 24th, the easier it will be to organize and set up people to post on specific countdown days between  3/24-4/14.
As always, any questions, feel free to ask! First time trying this format, so we'll see how it works out!
Example Prompts (feel free to use one of these or your own!):
Devil Chip  Idol Outfit  Ghosts!  Pink Squirrel  Neko Virus Summa DIS Whiskey  Astronaut Suit  Hot Springs Disco Outfit  Baseball Uniform Buttferfly Net Car Race Star Potter Red Carpet  Copyroid  Curry Humor Program Zoo animals  Plunger on the head  Froggy trash can  Oven on fire!  Throwing your PET Jack in! Beast out!

Have you seen the Megaman Unlimited 2 trailer?
Yep, just saw it when I got up. Gameplay looks solid, though I don't know how to feel about Mega Man's redesign.

tried to search for one of your posts to no avail. it lists rpgs you're significantly interested in or have played, with varying exclamation marks, under Keep reading. could you send the link to it if you can find it?
Unfortunately it would be pretty difficult to find for me as well but given that it's likely out of date I will take this opportunity to try making a new one (hopefully won't forget anything either). Thank you for this!
This time rather than symbols I will just list them all under more specific categories. Some of these are likely to change over time as I play more of the games (I have not finished all of them).

COMING SOON - ANIME UPDATE V3
“V3″ in this case stands for “Version 3″. I did the V1 series of posts from late 2019 to the end of 2021, then did the V2 posts in 2022 and 2023. Time for another shake-up, once more before the last time.
Vinland Saga S2 will continue with its second half, and once I'm done with it, and once I'm done with it, the newly revived Kimi ni Todoke will be taking its place, itself to be followed by Vision of Escaflowne once I'm done with it.
Hunter x Hunter will continue to the end this year, and once I'm finally done with it, Fullmetal Alchemist will be taking its place.
SHUFFLE! will be a new anime I start up, and along with it will soon come the 13 episode AIR. Jun Maeda's prototype for CLANNAD, Kanon, would be the most likely to take its place afterwards.
Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works draws to a close, soon to be replaced by The Case Files Of Lord El Meloi II.
Konosuba will be taking over from Re:ZERO (talk about whiplash!), and once its done, its place will be taken by Black Cat.
Symphogear XV will finish off the Symphogear series, and once that's done, K-On!! will be taking its place.
Eureka Seven will continue through the year, and once I'm done with it, I'll finally look back to the Gundam franchise with Gundam Wing.
Gintama will be returning as well. with me finally getting closer towards the really good parts.
EXTRAs that I intend to also give watches to from now to perpetuity: A Certain Scientific Railgun, Akame Ga Kill, Akiba Maid Wars, Attack On Titan, Azumanga Daioh, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, Baccano, Berserk, Black Butler, Bloom Into You, Blue Exorcist, BNA: Brand New Animal, Bungo Stray Dogs, Captain Earth, Chainsaw Man, Code Geass R2, Cutey Honey, D-Gray Man, Date A Live, Demon Slayer, Digimon anime, Dragon Ball anime, Durarara, Full Metal Panic, Gabriel Drop Out, Great Pretender, Gundam & Macross anime, Gurren Lagann, Haruhi Suzumiya, Horimiya, Inuyasha, Kill La Kill, Little Busters, Little Witch Academia, Made In Abyss, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Marmalade Boy, Megaman NT Warrior, Monster, Moriarty The Patriot, My Hero Academia, My Next Life As Villaness, Nadia: The Secret Of Blue Water, Nichijou, Non Non Biyori, Odd Taxi, One Punch Man, Ouran High School Host Club, Persona The Animation, Pokemon anime, Pretty Cure, Princess Jellyfish, Puella Magi, Ranma 1/2, Rewrite, RWBY, Rurouni Kenshin, Sakugan, Shadows House, Shaman King, Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie, Slime Taoshite 300-Nen, Soul Eater, Steins;Gate, SSSS Dynazenon, Tales of the Abyss The Animation, Tenchi Muyo, Tiger & Bunny, Trigun, The Demon Girl Next Door, The Girl Who Leapt Through Space, The Pet Girl Of Sakurasou, The Rising Of The Shield Hero, The World Ends With You Animation, Yuna Yuki Is A Hero, and likely plenty of others that might come my way, old and new, rewatches included.

Roller blades!
I have a certain unspoken obsession with acceleration. Most of my days go by slowly without anything notable occurring within those hours. Within the past few months I've been played Rocket League under my other internet name LuckLibero, only playing the game with close friends. There is something that feels liberating about going fast and conquering the opposition in that game. certain tactics are also fun to successfully perform. The one thing that truly keeps to hooked to the game is the feeling of speed. Certain other racing games give me the same kind of joy, like Ridge Racer, Need For Speed, Forza, Wipeout Pure, Test Drive Unlimited, and even Mario Kart. Other than acceleration, a specific style that I can't perfectly describe is another thing I adore. Particular games and music encapsulate this sort of "style" I am referring like the entirety of Jet Set Radio. This is what brings me to roller blades. As a kid I started roller blading but soon stopped for no reason other than "I have nowhere to do it and I've lost my roller blades." A bicycle just never felt the same as a good pair of roller blades. Any fictional character that wears rollerblades or roller skates is an instant favorite of mine like Lilica Felchenerow from Arcana Heart, Shadow the Hedgehog (hover skate things) Lan Hikari from Megaman NT, Teddie in Persona 4, the Air Gear cast, Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim, and Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura. As a look up after typing this all out, it's a lot. Point is speed is the unwaivering feeling of freedom for me and I can't get enough either in games, real life, or any other media like anime and music.
