elephant fish!!!!! it uses its megachin to detect things. basically create its own personal little elecectrical field using an organ in its tail, which it uses to detect disturbances using sensors all over its body (including the megachin)

Aight I bully this man for his looks constantly because it's funny, and I will continue to do so, however if I'm being transparent I do think he's very handsome a lot of the time. Like you said it's a question of angle for him since there are times in the cutscenes where either his arms look comically short or the megachin from the concept art comes back. But other than a few angles I find his design very appealing and it played it's part in why I though I should play layton games.

I'm ace/aro (maybe demiromantic who knows) so discussing how attractive or handsome a character is is not my strong side, that's why I don't genuinely talk about that most of the time. But the fact that my list of characters I find attractive has no restrictions of being tied to any real world attraction is also a blessing cause people like Layton are very easy for me to like, they're not the weirdest looking people in that list. But even if I myself am not the best judge, I've heard it a lot from allo people that making a character full on conventionally attractive often limits their potential to be hot, and the real stunning characters have to be a little ugly in order to truly catch the viewers eye. And I think for Layton that works cause the dorky parts of his design are exactly what works best for his appeal. Not sure how to explain it but whenever I see him drawn with more human proportions or more detailed eyes it makes him less attractive, while some of the most stunning fan art of him embraces his geometrical nature (no shade on the anime eyes Layton art, I love that too).

So yea his smile is cute, the thin arms make him look gentle even though dude is strong af, he's so shape, his coat and hat give the silhouette personality and when he's animated with the coat swaying all over the place it gives his figure some physicality even if initially it looks like it would only work on a 2d sprite because of how abstract he is.

And of course above all else his personality makes him crazy handsome and it bleeds into visual appeal constantly. When he's expressive with his hands and poses, when he's confident in his movement, when he's soft and gentle with those he cares about, when he gets carried away being passionate over his interests, that's when I make a million screenshots of him cause it looks awesome.

So yea when anyone sees me get on Layton's ass for looking like a chirstmas tree ornament it's safe to assume that I do in fact think he looks awesome but that just doesn't stop me from making fun of him for it .... Sorry for the long ass Hershel appreciation post I know nobody signed up for that

Can you imagine all of Luke's new friends abroad having heard about Layton from him having this idea of an all knowing genius adventurer who swordfights on the regular and can scale a kaiju robot in a car, imagining some Indiana Jones looking dude, and then when Layton does show up it's just this cylindrical guy in a dad shirt
