sam's togachako fic rec masterlist

So the tumblr thread with togachako recs from the other day inspired me to make this post that’s supposed to be a masterlist of my togachako recs. I’m sure I’ve forgotten to add some of the recs I’ve included in my ao3 author’s notes before LMAO. Also, I’m planning to update this list with any new togachako recs I want to add in the future. For now I'm only including completed fics.

1K-5K

A lovely fic with lyrical prose in which Himiko is Medusa and Ochako is her blind GF. It explores Himiko's profound grief over Jin and her relief of finally having human connection be attainable again.

A nice little fic from arguably one of the best femslash writers in that fandom. It checks off all the boxes for everything I could want out of a Togachako fic: a theme of acceptance, exploring what could have been in another life and SO MANY cute moments. Also, the ambiguous ending just feels so right.

A heartfelt bite-sized read that features Himiko and Ochako navigating life together and quirk prejudices in the aftermath of the war. It's so soft with references to spicy moments sprinkled in. (Who doesn't love Togachako and THE BITING?) It's just so sweet to see Himiko trying to grow beyond her past and having Ochako to rely on.

One of my fav Togachako smut one shots. It's so sweet and cute and I want to craddle it in my arms. I love how the story shows Himiko helping Ochako work through self-esteem issues - also, what's not to love about technically self-cest.

The university setting suits Togachako's dynamic really well. I love Himiko's pastel goth aesthetic and Ochako's initial animosity toward her strange lab partner before growing enamored.

I really enjoyed this soulmates AU one-shot since it tied in so well with how much Togachako loves each other despite the odds seemingly being against them. This story really is a testament to how there is no universe in which Ochako could possibly hate Himiko.

A super cute one-shot with a unique matchmaking setup! I was especially fond of the way Ochako’s gay panic was written and Himiko’s dialogue was incredibly fun to read. The parallels drawn between Himiko and Ochako in the fic are super compelling!

This is fluffy togachako established relationship oneshot has some gorgeous poetic prose that makes for an evocative read! It also just was such a soft vibe to it that makes this fic feel like a warm hug every time I read it.

I love this songfic so much!!! It utilizes a vignette style to hit some really poignant notes by giving glimpses it Himiko and Ochako’s past as childhood friends which is later contrasted by their reunion in the present day. The fic packs a punch with some excellent hurt/comfort.

This is some absolutely gut-wrenching hurt/comfort with parallels between togachako and dabihawks. I think it's one of the best togachako fics I've read in a while.

Actor AU togachako? YES PLEASE! The first fic I read in this fandom was an actor AU so I’ve always had a soft spot for this particular niche. Anyways, there’s a lot of cute moments in this and the pining is very strong in the best way possible. Also, the confession scene at the end is totally cute. There’s also some fun nods to krbk and excellent dialogue between Ochako and Katsuki.

I feel like I happen to be the EXACT target audience for this delightful cracky fic. It’s a humorous togachako chatfic (which is my jam) with some cheeky innuendo as well as some excellent and immersive HTML formatting. I also love how this fic provides both Ochako and Himiko’s POV to get the full picture :)

5K-15K

“Pleasing Our Infernal Princess” by intheeveningsunrise | 8.5K | Isekai | Scum Villain Fusion | Useless Lesbians

There is some excellent Ochako introspection and I like how genre-savvy this fic is. Himiko and Ochako’s relationship is also explored in a very fun way as Ochako tries to escape her predestined fate and Himiko manages to see Ochako for who she is at heart. Also, there’s some excellent platonic scenes between Ochako and Bakugo. As someone who hasn’t read scum villain I can vouch that this fic is an excellent read even if you aren’t familiar with SVSSS. In general, I highly recommend giving this a read if you love isekai/transmigration stories and femslash. There is also an incredibly fun twist at the end of this fic :)

An absolutely stellar role reversal fic that stays true to Ochako's and Himiko's characterizations as their lives take a very different trajectory. Ochako's desperation as she tries to fight against the metaphorical shackles tying her down and the pressure the HPSC puts on Himiko makes this story so engaging. This fic was the VERY FIRST togachako fic I ever read and to this day it holds up as one of my all-time favorites!!!!

While I have not read this fic yet (it’s been on my TBR for ages), my main enabler for all things femslash has been singing this fic’s highest praises. According to her, this is an excellent fic to read to get into the togachako ship since it hits many key tropes for the ships (e.g. Ochako’s sapphic internal panic) and strikes the perfect balance between being a meaty enough fic to thoroughly explore the ship while still remaining a one-shot. Also this fic has Greek mythology elements :3

Lowkey this might be one of the best togachako fics I’ve ever read and it still holds up really well with the current togachako landscape despite being written before the togachako manga chapters were dropped. It has an excellent characterization of Himiko and delves into the anxieties of starting over in a poignant way. Also the identity shenanigans and the way guilt festers as Himiko dances around the truth is very compelling. There are also moments of some super cute banter. And this fic is meaty enough to really get a taste of what makes togachako such a fun ship but is short enough to read in one sitting. An excellent first togachako fic to read if you want to get into the ship.

Greater than 15K

This is THE Togachako fic - if you haven't heard of it already, believe me if you mention this fic in a group of togachako enthusiasts, people will start gushing about it immediately. The villain/hero dynamic is so fun in this with a lot of excellent toxic Yuri tension - and OMG Ochako's characterization is great in this (there is this one flashback scene from her childhood that still lives rent-free in my mind XD). And there are so many good interpretations like Ochako's past relationships with Izuku and Tsu that just HIT. Also, the smut is EVERYTHING - I really want to go into details but I'll hold back because it's so much more fun if it's a surprise.

There are a million things I could say about this fic but I will try to keep it brief. This is a Revolutionary Girl Utena and MHA crossover that expertly explores themes of repression, gender, storytelling and what it means to be a hero. Taking advantage of MHA’s large cast, this fic not only does a fantastic job with togachako’s characterization but also does a great job of getting to the core of the side character’s motives and perception of the world. Also, the fic ticks so many quintessential togachako boxes (everything from Himiko being repressed to Ochako’s resilience and unconditional care for Himiko). AND THE FORMATTING OMG!!!!! This fic takes workskin shenanigans to the next level!!! I’m still thinking about the stroke of coding genius in the final chapter. Like y’all would not believe the amount of brainrot this fic induced. Anyways, as someone who has not watched Utena yet I can vouch that this fic reads well regardless of whether you have watched RGU or not :3

Some of my stuff

Here are some togachako fics I’ve worked on that I like best and their descriptions.

Summary: The only reason Ochako signed up for a dating app was because Mina convinced her that making fun of people's profiles would be a fun way to pass the time. But soon enough she finds herself connecting with a girl under the pseudonym "Carmilla". Still, one looming question stops Ochako from labeling Carmilla as more than a friend: Who exactly is she in real life?

Summary: After fighting Himiko and bleeding out, Ochako finds herself reliving the same day of middle school over and over again. And she can’t quite piece together why that one ordinary day is worth repeating at all. Except for Himiko that day is anything but random – after all, it was the day she stabbed her middle school classmate as her mask finally slipped.

Is Himiko’s future really set in stone? Will Ochako be able to break the loop?

Only time will tell.

Summary: Years after the war, Ochako is desperately trying to move on from her grief for Toga with her new situationship. But it's so hard to keep things casual when Ochako's fling reminds her of Himiko in so many ways.

Summary: Ochako's friends are suspicious of her online girlfriend. For all they know Himiko could be a villain, a serial killer or even a vampire.

Author’s Commentary: I guess I would consider this fic something akin to my magnum opus lol. There’s a lot of silliness and subplots with a strong focus on LOV Found Family and Married Dabihawks in addition to the Togachako. A lot happens. Bakugo gets character development, Shouto is convinced Ochako’s girlfriend is a vampire from Twilight, Mineta gets a mini redemption arc and Dabi decides that maybe patricide isn’t for him.

People who draw Skwisgaar in that damn speedo or in a bikini. He's got the confidence and you have the talent.

People who draw Toki in his roller skating outfit. Need I saw more?

People who draw one or more members of Dethklok as trans. I have yet to encounter a version of this HC/canon content that I do not love, adore, admire, respect, and obsess over.

People on tiktok that attempted to do a Metalocalypse version of the "Infected My Little Pony" trend. One of which where Nathan was the infected and the other where Toki was. Honestly, the artist that was doing the eldritch horror!Toki was fucking cooking. They had it where Murderface saw Toki in his true form and was terrorizing Murderface from keep him from revealing his secret.

People who draw Trindle. Listen, I understand Nathan. If I had a goth woman showing me her tits every second of every day, I too would look past the blatant psychopathic tendencies and mysterious disappearances.

People who are not afraid to make the boys look gross. You are all so fucking valid and your interpretations of the boys are so awesome to look at. Especially if it's a specific art style that is scratchy. LOVE!

People who draw Lady!Klok. Every single interpretation of what the boys would look like is so valid, whether they're cis or trans, their outfits and appearances are also so fucking spot on. And their HCs that are added on the side to explain how they're different from Dethklok is a fucking PLUS

People who draw Skwisgaar in lingerie. I want you to know, that I see you and I appreciate you in every single way.

People who draw Trans!Pickles content (NSFW & SFW) specifically. Yall were in the god damn trenches and you PREVAILED!

People who draw the boys with their interpretations of their nose shapes, ESPECIALLY MURDERFACE! HE'S GOT A BEAUTIFUL PUG NOSE, LET HIM HAVE IT! Double appreciate for Skwisgaar's beautifully crooked nose and Nathan's slanted nose. I love their faces so much and their noses and yall always know how to bring them to light.

People who draw Knubbler with no chin. Homeboy gave away his chin in order to accumulate all of the swagger he's got. He's a Mick Jagger type of guy.

People who draw Pickles dreads as independently floating tendrils like Medusas snakes. It is so perfect for him and it's so hard not to do it.

People who draw Pickles bald. Look...It's coming. He's just gonna have to own it.

People who draw Early!Klok ESPECIALLY TOKI! That fact that we don't have a lot of information about their past other than DSR is a SHAME! BUT ITS OK BECAUSE THE FANS KNOW WHAT TO DO AND THEY DO IT PREFECTLY EVERY TIME! Every time I see little DSR Toki with his short hair, I go fucking feral. I COULD BE A GOOD MOTHER!

People who draw the gore. The show would not exist without it, and some of yall are just cooking with the themes and context yall create. I am always so intrigued with what I will see next.

People who draw and make Dethklok lesbians. Of course Dethklok is lesbian. Why wouldn't they be?

People who draw the band in their "Dethfashion" clothes. WE NEEDED MORE TIME WITH THOSE OUTFITS! WE JUST DID!

People who have no clue how to draw a Fu Manchu. I had to look this up before I said anything but a Fu Manchu does not grow around the mouth, it's literally just hair from the top part of the mouth that continues to grow down. That's why in "Stare Down" Skwisgaar refers to Toki's mustache as an "extreme facial hairs". AND YET! I ADORE THE WAY SOME OF YALL DRAW IT, ITS VERY ATTRACTIVE AND CUTE!

People who draw the band members in their animal forms. YOU CAN TAKE THESE ANIMAL FORMS FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS! PICKLES THE OCTOPUS IS SO SPECIAL TO ME, ESPECIALLY AFTER "Dethmom"! AND THE BUNNY/RABBIT SYMOLISM FOR TOKI AND WITH HIM BEING THE ANGEL OF DEATH, ITS SO GOD DAMN IMPORTANT!

People who draw Agere!Toki. Canon age regression is so rare and to have Toki being a canon and explicit example of an age regressor throughout the entire show is so special to me. JUST LET THE BOY REST!

People who draw Abigail. She's a girl boss. She's the moment. I will NOT tolerate hate on my woman, she did not deserve the shit she got.

People who draw Deaddy Bear. I want one so badly, it's not a joke.

People who draw Toki in skirts/dresses. One particular art work with Toki is in a long bohemian skirt and a band tee with a scarf is my all time favorite example of it.

The person who created Lasagna, Pickle's daughter, and then made her a bassist. I eat your shit up every single time I see new stuff from that AU.

People who draw the boys with more piercings. Especially the angel bites on Toki, the middle of the lip piercing for Murderface, and the gauges on Nathan and Skwisgaar.

People who draw Pickles during his Snakes N' Barrels era. THE HIGHER THE HAIR THE CLOSER TO GOD YOU ARE! AND PICKLES WAS CLIMBING THAT LADDER EVERY NIGHT!

People who draw Pickles pubes in the shape of his goatee like in "Rehabklok". That's one of the funniest visual gags in the entire show, I won't hear another word about it.

People who draw Charles. Every single one of you are invited to my Charles Offdensen themed birthday party.

People who give Toki the longest hair length but give Skwisgaar the most definition. Also, when they remember Nathan's little hair wisp in his face. Skwisgaar has the waves and Toki is afraid to getting a hair cut.

PEOPLE WHO DRAW GODKLOK! GOATED AS FUCK! THE COOLEST FUCKING PEOPLE EVER! I AM FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT! EVERY SINGLE ITERATION IS SO FUCKING GOOD!

People who draw Top/Dom!Toki. LISTEN HE'S A SADIST, HE JUST GETS NERVOUS! IF YOU GIVE HIM TIME, HE CAN PROVE TO BE GREAT!

People who draw the boys in jeans. Listen. This one is really niche but for whatever reason, this fandom puts these boys in a pair or jeans and they are looking as fine a fucking WINE!

That's all that I think of at the moment, but I really do appreciate all of the different kinds of fan artists this fandom has. There is some absolutely beautiful pieces in this fandom.

I keep thinking about Tyson, Nico, BOB, and Clarisse after hearing that line “ not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster” from Medusa’s episode and I can’t stand it. Like??? Tyson is the cutest character with the biggest heart. Bob has helped the demigods get through Tartarus and chooses to protect Percy and Nico after they left him in the underworld. They would not have survived without him. And I HATE how people villainize clarisse. She’s just a girl who wanted to make her father proud. And NICO? Our poor little goth boy was just trying to figure out his sexuality and confront his inner demons.

In the early days when the Dreamer sought to escape the reality of his actions, he created the very first iteration of HEADSPACE. A safe place where he could be free of his guilt.

The very first version of Sunny's imaginary dream Basil in the very short lived first ever HEADSPACE. Much of FLOWER'S early life is unknown as when HEADSPACE, but his time when it fell shows him and the Dreamer's vessel at the time dubbed, OMORIBOY were left alone in the dark for a long time until the vessel without a host would rot away and leave nothing.

A year passed when FLOWER is saved by ROWAN from a HELLMARI. the two boys grow a bond together as they travel BLACK SPACE and attempt to help those unaffected to find a way out.

Their journey would come to an abrupt end when ROWAN discovered that he'd been replaced and forgotten about, a revelation that finally broke him and no matter how much FLOWER tried to help, the goth boy would succumb to BLACK SPACE and become a SOMETHING.

FLOWER, distraught by being alone again, would then follow shortly after...

FLOWER lacks fighting ability due to his extremely unfinished state. However his SKILLS are all based around pure support, his SKILLS can heal, grant EMOTION buffs and raise STATS. FLOWER can only experience the first stage of any EMOTION except for ANGRY, which he incapable of feeling.

He has a very small SKILL set and his abysmal STATS, FLOWER is not built for combat...

PERSONALITY

FLOWER is a gentle soul by nature, kindness is his first answer to anything, he always looks for the good in anyone he meets and always tries to befriend them to a fault. Sometimes that naivety leads to him being taken advantage of. He can be clumsy and gets scared easily.

His relationship with ROWAN is a deep caring bond and love and would throw himself in harm's way to protect him if it came to it.

FLOWER'S appearance in HEADSPACE was made from a vague sense of a memory of a flower princess Aubrey had drawn for Basil's birthday...

ROWAN lived a peaceful uneventful life until one day, a strange photograph that had fallen from his scrapbook would turn his world and everything he knew about it on it's head...

He had become the first of many in to discover the Truth about Mari...

But rather than tell everyone, the goth boy puts his duty first and joins on an adventure with the other dream friends to find answers along the way for the photo. In PYREFLY, he reaches the end of the LOST FOREST and is confronted by DADDY LONG LEGS, warning him not to go further in his foolish quest and the consequences of his goals. But ROWAN remained confident and determined in his abilities, leaving DADDY LONG LEGS no choice to give him what he wanted.

The knowledge of that day was devastating, seeing the Accident happen through Basil's eyes and watching them frame Mari's death leading to the birth of SOMETHING and creation of a world that neither he nor everything in it was not real, deeply traumatized ROWAN, his eyes permanently turning from emerald green to dark red, scarred from what he had seen.

despite it all, The guardian of HEADSPACE had one final desperate plan; to find a way to put the Dreamer, Sunny into a coma and use the time to wipe clean his memory of the Truth, and help him life free of guilt and still keep his dream world-an effort to fueled by the instability of his mind.

If there was no Truth to hide from, Sunny wouldn't have a reason to get rid of HEADSPACE.

OMORI would catch on to and confront ROWAN on his strange behavior, confirming that he knew what ROWAN was doing that it would end up killing Sunny. The two argued over what was right and OMORI ended up banishing ROWAN to BLACK SPACE and resetting the dream world and wiping all traces of the goth boy.

ROWAN'S life in BLACK SPACE was a hell that repeatedly killed him over and over again and wore down his will over time. The only comfort he had was the small boy FLOWER whom he befriended and fiercely protected. Ever strong-willed, ROWAN still held on that he could get back in OMORI'S good graces if he found him and explained his plans and intentions further.

That too was shattered when he found the monochrome boy ascending back to HEADSPACE with a green haired boy...

ROWAN had been replaced...and swore on that day that he'd get his revenge on OMORI for abandoning him...

The goth boy never found a way out and would succumb to BLACK SPACE in a cruel twist of irony, he became the thing he was made to destroy.

His story however wasn't over. Two years passed and he was suddenly awake in a world of color again amidst lab equipment and other strange things.

D.R.E.A.M. made him an offer he couldn't refuse...

BATTLE!

ROWAN in BATTLE is unique, he acts as an over-glorified cheat code and hits incredible hard to boot, from canceling enemy attacks with his own, to unique SKILLS that counter an enemy's strongest STAT. ROWAN is one of the few individuals capable of achieving a fourth EMOTION state. (LIVID, HOPELESS, UNHINGED) outside BATTLE, ROWAN has superhuman strength and agility, much similar to but stronger that the more modern Dream friends. This extreme power possibly stems from Sunny making him with the belief that if he was going to keep HEADSPACE safe, he needed to be unbeatable.

But ROWAN is far from invincible...

PERSONALITY

On the surface, ROWAN is the physical image of a rebellious teenager, he's rude and crude, cocky to the point of overconfidence, He resents being told what to do and has a short temper that leads to bouts of violence.

But look deeper and you see someone who cares deeply about his friends and his given duty to protect his home. ROWAN will do whatever it takes to keep those he cares about out of harm. He encourages his friends to live how they want to live, no matter what they're told.

He's also been known to be quite the prankster, often ringing KEL in along with his schemes and causing trouble, (Vandalizing SWEETHEART'S CASTLE being just one)

ROWAN'S weapon of choice is his trusty Shovel lovingly named 'Beethoven', after his favorite genre of music. He is highly adept with the tool and can throw it like a spear or spin it around.

Sunny was inspired to create ROWAN from a drawing Kel made during Basil's eighth birthday of Basil as a superhero...

UNIQUE SKILL; RULEBREAKER: ROWAN can attack and use SKILLS at any time during BATTLES, even during the enemy's turn. Deals extra damage to SOMETHING enemies. When tagged as leader in the overworld, most enemies will run from the party.

Is it me or dose all the the goddesses from LO clothes look bad on them (except for Pink RS, who is the only one who has nice and cute girly clothes.

All the goddesses dress like what will Kim K and the other celebrities would wear and it looks bad on them (except for Aphrodite’s baby doll dress and Daphne’s dating dress or Minthe just slaying away her outfits) and Pink RS of course is a Mary Sue and needs to wear cute clothes to make her look stand out. I am going to give some the style of my goddesses to make them look like what they represent and not butch of color Kim K wanna be clones. Here we go!

Amphitrite: some cute and sexy swimsuits or a beautiful mermaid tail dress, because she is the Queen and goddess of sea, after all and she will be covered in pearls, starfishes, bubbles and seashells.

Aphrodite: her outfits are going be look like Jessica Rabbit, Holli Would, Marilyn Monroe and Victoria's Secret Angels, because she is the goddess of beauty of course and her themes are going to be pink, with some hearts, pearls and roses.

Artemis: her look is going to be more of a wild tomboy look and it’s going to make her look like the girl version of Peter Pan and Robin Hood and not dress like she is going to hang out with her girlfriends at yoga. Her theme is going to be green for hunt and blue for the moon.

Athena: will dress mostly like a school girl or teacher, but she has some very cool and bada$$ clothes that will give her some wonder woman vibes.

Calliope: I think she will look cute in a Ballerina Outfits.

Demeter: will have a very pretty traditional toga that shows her lovely chest and she can wear a cute farm girl outfit or a housewife, with corn and poppies in her golden hair.

Daphne: I would give a ballerina tree style look or give her some cute spring related dresses or Lana Del Rey style look.

Echo: I will give her the ballerina look.

Eos: she would wear super sexy clothes to get all the sexy young men attention.

Eris: I will give the sexy black dress with gold that will give her the bad girl It girl look and not the some blond chicken thing.

Hebe: I will give her some cute and pretty youthful dresses or a Melanie Martinez outfits, because she is the goddess of youth and give her color theme orange, because orange means youth.

Hecate: I will give her the super cute and pretty magical girl outfits and sometimes a witch.

Hera: she will dress more like a bride or wear traditional brides dresses from all over the world, because she is the goddess of marriage.

Hestia: I would make her look more of a comic book superhero look with fire theme and she would dress in a 90’s work out outfit for health and a housewife look, when she is at home.

Leto: I will give her a pure white dress.

Leuce: I will give her the sea nymph look with pearls.

Persephone: I will give her the super cute baby doll dresses and other spring related dresses and a sexy black dress, that will give her the it girl.

Polymnia: I will give her the ballerina version of Phantom from The Phantom of the Opera.

Psyche: I will give her the pretty dresses with butterflies themed that will make her look like a butterfly/fairy princess and not RS just googled hot Cheeto girl clothes stereotype with that dumb Micky Mouse hair.

Selene: she would wear the super cute and girly nightgown that will give her the Wendy Darling look to compare to Artemis’ Peter Pan look.

Rhea: she will dress more like a queen and a mother.

Thetis: I will give her the cute girly dresses that will give her bubbly personality.

The Fates looks like Velma’s daughters and the furies look like color versions of Medusa or Medusa’s daughters. I will give mine a new look.

The fate sisters

Atropos: will wear a sexy and dark gothic dresses with a black gogo boots, because she is the oldest.

Lachesis: let’s get rid off the Velma look and replace it with a beautiful Lacey gothic corsets and some gothic themed clothes.

Clotho: she would wear a cute gothic version of Melanie Martinez or a super cute gothic schoolgirl uniform, because she is the youngest sister.

The Furies sisters

Note: each Furies gets a snake in her hair to represent her personality. The normal snake is Alecto, the scary snake is Tisiphone and cute snake is Megaera.

Alecto: will wear a red theme color, sexy and bada$$ clothes.

Tisiphone: would mostly wear pants and shorts and rarely wears skirt and she would wear something more bloody nightmare.

Megaera: she would wear cute and girly dresses with ruffles and some bows.

Soul Eater OC Tip #3: Wear black clothes

This is Tip #3 out of my eight Soul Eater OC Tips series.

Making your OC wear black clothes is a great way to make them fit in the Soul Eater universe. Black clothes are one of the main ways the series expresses its Goth, Horror and Halloween influences.

Taking a look at the canon characters will give you an idea of how much black is used in Soul Eater character designs.

The three meister main characters all wear black as a top.

Medusa, Crona and Ragnarok’s color palettes mainly consist of black.

The faculty of the DWMA all wear black as part of their attire.

Naturally, there are notable exceptions to the rule of wearing black too. Some characters are given color palettes that do not use much black because other colors already allow them to follow the theme of the Soul Eater universe or because it expresses their personalities.

For example, Stein's mad scientist theme is already well represented using white as a main color instead of black.

Mira's design makes use of white and camo to show off her mummy and military themes without using black clothes.

Weapons like Soul, Tsubaki, Liz and Patty wear brighter and more colorful clothes than their meisters. This contrast effectively hints that the weapons have different personalities compared to their meisters.

In conclusion, the best way to ensure an OC design fits well into the Soul Eater universe is to make use of black in their clothes. If not using black, other muted tones like gray or white may work too, especially with the help of a strong theme. Of course, deliberately using colorful palette to create a contrast from other characters is also an option.

I really love Medusa, outside PJO, and she is a great character of greek mythology, however i'm kinda conflicted and between the sword and the wall, with some of Rick's decision,the reaction of pjo fans and ppl who love Roman and Greek myths

I get that Rick wanted to explore the narrative of the roman version (Poseidon r4p1ng,SAd or abuse her and Athena blamed her and turned her into stone), because it got popular for the narrative of the women and victims getting blamed and villianized and punished for the actions caused by men and abusers, in religion, and it got turned into a symbol of "me too" and causes more ppl to want to raise awareness.

Nothing wrong with the purpose,I'm all for BRINGING AWARENESS to others about r4p3,SA,sexual violence,etc. Everyone who is not sick, wants those non consensual acts that harm ppl to dissapear

but I think he could have used another myth to explore those topics,because using that portrayal of Medusa and Poseidon, makes things weirder??, for these reasons:

1. The book portrays Poseidon's and Percy's father-son dynamic: Percy's anger towards his father, but VERY deep down,craving for some of his attention,shifting towards a neutral, polite leaning towards a positive relationship, and the book portrays him like a man that is trying to be a cool father,despite his mistakes. And the book sometimes praises him for that??

Having in mind, the pjo series is supposed to teach and make kids,no matter their gender,sexual and romantic orientation,race and nationality,neurodivergencies and disabilities, we all can be amazing,smart,talented in our own ways, and deserve the same respect, wouldn't the parent-child dynamic Percy and Poseidon be weird? If ur main character keeps contact with someone like that??.

Wouldn't that normalize more than already is, of ppl,but mostly men, of keeping contact with nasty men,just because he is a relative or a friend?? and didn't hurt you?.

2. Why THE Sally Jackson, dated someone like Poseidon or even finishing in good terms?? like if my ex bf was an abuser with other ppl and not me. It doesn't matter,that relationship is ending in bad terms??

"Rick said he wanted to explored it. But he didn't say Medusa got r4ped,maybe he just abused of power. Or athena blamed Medusa because Poseidon crushed on her, pg-13"

Come on, Medusa's lines and way of wording references the roman version,besides everyone even kids ranging from 10-12 know what happened to Medusa

"But myths changes and develop, just to send a message,provides awareness"

You guys literally CHANGED the ORIGINAL myth of Persephone/Hades/Demeter, which HADES KIDNAPPED PERSEPHONE, AND DEMETER SEARCHING FOR HER DAUGHTER., and rewrite it with Persephone going WILLINGLY WITH HADES, just for u to fit the narattive of a "goth bad boy scary looking with bad reputation,but is chill and dates a flower softy girls,that he treats like queen".

and the reaction that the pjo fandom had to Medusa's backstory, is similar to any other fandom when a traumatised character exists, that can be harmful, it feels like a way of romanticizing? and I'm tired of it

"I'm glad they gave Medusa more depth"

Can we as a society stop acting like being victim of mental/physical/sexual abuse?, or any kind of trauma, gives you more depth??. No, trauma doesn't give us depth or make us more complex. Our point of view, our philosophy,our interests, our talents,our personalities does.

Because of that, I have seen middle schoolers and teenagers wanting some sort of trauma,just to be complex?? Which is sad and alarming.

I'm not sure what Riordan is planning or how is going to not mess up,but I hope I can see more of the cast acting more scenes of the book.

AU Theme: Tattoo Parlor Xavier 🖤Moodboard

Xavier had gotten his first tattoo the very night he turned 18. He was in Vegas, his father working on his show like he always was. It was his first taste of true freedom of adulthood.

He, like many before him, decided to get a rather incredibly dumb tattoo to celebrate.

He didn’t tell anyone he got an Itchy tattoo and there were many Millennials who mocked him and wondered why he would get something from a cartoon show that hadn’t been good since the 90’s when they happened to see him shirtless.

Like anyone who got tattoos, he was thinking of the next one he wanted before he was out the door of the tattoo parlor from his first one.

His next tattoo was a bit more well thought out. No one had any idea what it was or what it meant, but it was something important to him and to that day he never told anyone what the tattoo on his shoulder was.

He was finally old enough to realize how dumb his first tattoo was and decided to get a cover up.

He was in New York, and everyone recommended this up-and-coming artist, Wednesday. She had no photos of herself, but posts of her work on Insta were amazing. She specialized in cover ups and gave free consultations and discounts to anyone who was covering up a self-harm scar, mastectomy scars from breast cancer, or celebrating a milestone such as sobriety or recovery from a mental health issue.

She charged double for cover ups of idiotic tattoos gotten as a teenager.

He was intrigued and loved her work, so he was willing to pay the premium.

Nevermore Tattoo Shop had a Victorian Goth aesthetic, and it was clean with comfortable chairs. He was greeted by a dark-haired man his age at the front desk, he had full sleeves of snakes and a medusa medallion on his clavicle.

“Hey man,” he greeted and the receptionist introduced himself as Ajax. “I’m here to see Wednesday? I have a 3pm appointment.”

“She’s just finishing up with a client,” and he pointed to a woman with her hair up in a braided crown in the back.

He couldn’t see her face, but she wore a tube top that showed off twin ravens on her shoulders, and surprisingly no other tattoos. Every other artist he ever met had them covering most of their bodies.

She was working on a blonde woman with pink and blue streaks in her hair, Xavier would have thought she’d be the type to get Hello Kitty or something related to KPop and not something at Nevermore.

Then he remembered what Wednesday specialized in, so he kept his thoughts to himself.

When Wednesday was finally ready to see him, he felt like an idiot 18-year-old again as she was the most beautiful woman he ever met. He noticed she had two other tattoos on her wrists, tiny things he couldn’t fully make out, but he thought maybe one was a cat and the other a scorpion.

“So, what are we getting done today?” she asked as he sat down on the parlor chair.

“Trying to cover a rather idiotic teenage decision.”

“Well, idiotic teenage decisions keep the lights on, so no worries.”

He instantly felt relaxed and once they finalized the piece, he thought she was worth every penny.

Once she was done, the Itchy tattoo was a distant memory and it was replaced with something much more meaningful.

Although they had talked for several hours as she worked and he explained the meaning behind the castle, he blushed when she asked him to dinner.

“I’d love to hear more,” which was just a convenient excuse to ask the client with the most beautiful green eyes she had ever seen. She smiled more at his shy acceptance.

From then on, he never let anyone else work on him again.

The most recent tattoo Wednesday gave him was of their daughter, a portrait of Belladonna Thorpe right next to his heart.

I love your hair! The ombre in the first pic is really nice, wish I had the courage to dye my hair that bright. I love that hairstyle, too, it reminds me of the Vocaloid Gumi! I've always wanted my hair styled like that too!

I believe in you anon, you can do it one day. My hair is based on like three different things.

Alice from the first Twilight movie, Medusa from Soul Eater, and Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim. Watched all those things in like, middle school to early high school and my senior year in high school I got this hair cut, which was almost 10 years ago now. Also Legolas form lord of the rings but I feel like I'm being gaslit by reality because I could have sworn some of his long blonde hair hung down in front of his ears but after a google search it turns out I'm wrong?? Weird, I distinctly remember his hair that way.

Anyways first time I got my haircut the fucking lady didn't listen to me at all and while I was holding a chunk of hair I wanted to stay long she literally cut right through it. Thankfully since I had it done the first time, each subsequent lady has been able to follow the blueprint of the woman who actually listened to me and cut my hair how I wanted. Though recently I ran into a lady who was like "Don't you want the back to taper into the front? It's so blunt and I think it would be nicer if it blended together" and I had to keep telling her "No, not at all, that's the point of the style" like the entire time she was cutting my hair.

But ye, You Too could look like an anime goth. If anyone does want my hair cut I can make a diagram for you to show to your barber so they don't fuck it up. Just ask me. B)

Everybody’s always talking about the biblical imagery in Goncharov but I haven’t seen anybody talk about the allusions to Greek mythology like !!! Goncharov looking at Katya through the mirror when she threatens to shoot him, not making direct eye contact - Perseus and Medusa’ poisonous vision. When Sofia is leading Katya in the tunnels, not looking as they talk, but she turns around and Katya is gone - Orpheus turns and Eurydice vanishes. That unnamed taxi driver is paid two coins by Goncharov right before That Scene - he’s literally Charon, transporting the ‘dead’. Guys the whole boat scene is an allusion to the River Styx. The theme of time and the human hubris to defy it and the seemingly divine punishment of that ambition. Tell me I’m not the only one seeing this.

Not necessarily how they act towards them because assholes can and do disguise themselves and nice people can seem like assholes for many different reasons. Not just intention either though because you know, path to hell is paved with good intentions and all. I don’t really know how to put it into words. It’s really a huge mix of things coming together to say anything about a person. Just picking one feels like simplifying something super complex, but how they view others is a good start in my opinion

What about everyone in Hyakkaou Private Academy with a Goth S/o. She is friends with Yumeko, Mary, Ryota, the Student Council, and the Momobami Clan. She was a very skilled gambler feared by the other students within the academy, because they were scared she would go all weird like most goths would. She often gets called a freak and a weirdo (which made some her friends get upset everytime they heard it whenever they're nearby.) To be she's not a Goth she only wears black over her uniform and wears dark makeup.

━ JABAMI YUMEKO : VICTORIAN GOTH ;

The first time she saw you, she had to do a double take because she saw that you weren't wearing the uniform

Your dress was black and the skirt was huge with patterns on it; you always wore gloves with your outfits and heavy makeup with black eyeshadow

No one ever dared mess with you due to how skilled a gambler you were and how they were afraid of you

Yumeko wondered if you had to gamble to make sure that you didn't get told off for not wearing the uniform; sure enough, she found out that you won a gamble against Manyuda and were allowed to wear whatever you wanted

She becomes friends with you and soon, she realizes that you are not what everyone has been saying you're like

You're very smart and protective of your friends, plus you're nice to your friends, which include a lot of people

Yumeko admires how you never let anyone intimidate you or insult you, you always keep your head up high and for that, she finds herself falling more and more for you

She definitely reads gothic literature that you recommend and she loves seeing you rant about outfit choices, it's fascinating to her and she just likes seeing you excited about something

Definitely wants to try some goth outfits on sometime since it doesn't fall under one label, it's a spectrum and she'd love to learn more

━ TERANO TOTOBAMI : TRADITIONAL GOTH ;

Yumi has told her multiple subcultures in media and the one she has been told about consistently is the goth subculture

She knows about you at school because she can see you're a skilled gambler and have been able to take down people as you go

There were rumors about you, from you being a vampire to your eyes being able to turn people to stone or petrify them

She met you at school and you were not as bad as people described you; you only had dark eyeshadow and black lipstick, along with some accessories that matched the goth aesthetic; the only bright color on your uniform was the white shirt, you had somehow managed to get a black vest

She approached you after seeing how you walked the halls and glared at anyone who even remotely tried to insult you

Both of you became friends, her fascinated by your aesthetic and wanted to know more about the fashion and everything behind it

She's in love with gothic architecture and reads about famous gothic architect buildings, sharing news articles with you about them

She wants to make you happy by showing that she is involved with what makes you happy, although sometimes you suspect that she may be hiding a little goth part of herself, especially with how knowledgeable and eager she is on this subject

━ MIROSLAVA HONEBAMI : ROMANTIC GOTH ;

She doesn't know what to make of you at first because she doesn't see the surface that everyone else sees, she sees something below the surface but can't put her finger on it

You fascinate her with your tendencies, like pressing dead roses and other flowers between the pages of your notebooks and daydreaming while in the middle of a high risk gamble

She finds out that your aesthetic is romantic goth and soon, she wants to learn more about you so you become close friends

She learns that contrary to popular belief, you actually don't listen to that much heavy metal, you prefer the classical music because it gets you more in the mood to walk under the moon

Miroslava finds herself falling for you slowly, with the way you carry yourself and how you're so kind to her while others think you're cruel

You're a deep thinker and you sometimes stay up with her talking about the thoughts bubbling in your head, which also makes her think

If you confess to her first, do so with a letter and she keeps it forever because of how special it is

She loves how you dress up and how committed you are to your aesthetic, but the way you love applies to her and her only and she couldn't be happier about that

━ RIN OBAMI : CYBER GOTH ;

The first time he sees you, he cannot keep his eyes off of you since you're so captivating since you do not blend in with the environment behind you

You have ultra bright and colorful hair, sometimes you'll even obtain extensions of neon colors; your eye makeup is black but occasionally you'll wear neon colored eye contacts; your outfits are bold and come in neon and black, which makes it impossible for people not to look at you

You also wear a gas mask with colorful symbols on it, differing from Ririka's mask

You alone intrigue him because he is the primary example of not judging a book by its cover; he sees that you get called names but you never respond to them, only keeping your head up high

He becomes your friend after a while because he doesn't know the best way to ask you to be his friend

You're really sweet with him, throwing him completely off guard

He loves knowing more about you and how passionate you are about your outfits and your aesthetic in general

The only time he ever got scared was when once you gave him a playlist to listen to and he thought a slow song came up so he went to sleep listening to it but screaming was heard through his headphones and he jumped about a foot high in bed
