RE: Missouri Trans Ban
As one of our immediate neighbors, we are appalled by the Missouri Attorney General's decision to ban ALL transitioning, including hormone replacement therapy, for transgender Missourians - including adults.
Even though HRT has been documented for decades to be life-saving and the best treatment for gender dysphoria, transgender adults in Missouri will be cut off from transition services beginning April 27th. All current transgender Missouri residents will have to undergo intense screening to continue their care - and will only be allowed to keep their medication routine if they show ZERO signs of mental illness, including depression, anxiety, autism, and "social media addiction." Missouri AG Andrew Bailey is now also enforcing a three-year waiting period, 18-month psychological assessment, and 15 YEAR medical supervision for anyone able to get past the screening process.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1. SHARE THE NEWS AND TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES. Many news outlets that aren't explicitly focused on LGBTQIA+ issues have failed to cover how dangerous this decision is, and we know when anti-transgender organizations see something like this get approved in one state, they'll try to replicate it in others and nationally.
https://time.com/.../missouri-restrict-transgender.../
https://www.businessinsider.com/missouri-attorney-general...
2. SUPPORT PROMO, MO ACLU, AND LAMBDA LEGAL. These are the leading advocacy and legal LGBTQIA+ rights organizations that are already working on legal action.
3. SUPPORT C.A.R.E.
Also known as Carbondale Assembly for Radical Equity, a Southern Illinois-based collaborative on how to best support and assist incoming transgender refugees fleeing their home states for Illinois.
TRANS AND LIVE IN MISSOURI: RESOURCES
The Attorney General's decision goes into effect April 27th - so you have until then to pick up any prescriptions you have access to. If you are on feminizing HRT, you MAY be able to use this small time window to stockpile your prescriptions until either Bailey's decision is reversed or you are able to find alternate means of getting your medication.
Even AFTER April 27th, you CAN still get your HRT if you are able to cross state lines - Planned Parenthood and other clinics that offer informed consent are creating pop-up sites as an emergency response. Some of these clinics even offer telehealth or virtual appointments - although telehealth soon won't be an option for transmasculine HRT due to the DEA's decision to end telehealth prescriptions. Check this map for site locations: https://t.co/O6UBzyS4ue
Lastly, in the event you are unable to find any alternative ways to get HRT through conventional and prescribed means, an HRT DIY wiki has been made as harm reduction: https://diyhrt.wiki/

Donald Padgett at The Advocate:
A state investigation into the Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital has expanded to target therapists and social workers who may have minors seeking gender-affirming care. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is seeking redacted or lightly redacted medical records of patients who received care at the facility. The state investigation of the center is one of many currently underway, including one by U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley. The move left the state’s trans and healthcare communities with concern over future access to gender-affirming care for transgender youth in the state, the Missouri Independent reported.
“The attorney general has created a hostile environment for medical providers where they are afraid to stay and practice medicine,” Katy Erker-Lynch, executive director of PROMO, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group in the state, said. Bailey is reviewing the records at the Missouri Division of Professional Registration which oversees the state’s medical licensing as part of the investigation. He had earlier targeted Planned Parenthood Great Plains and Children’s Mercy, a hospital in Kansas City. Bailey has reportedly interviewed 57 healthcare professionals in connection with the investigation. Licensed clinical social worker Kelly Storck spoke with senior investigator Nick McBroom as part of the investigation.
[...]
The Center earlier turned over a spreadsheet providing information regarding patients seeking gender-affirming care, including visits, medications, and other normally private information. The mother of one patient who received care at the Center, a 17-year-old trans boy named Levi, described the investigation as “invasive” and said it was causing unwarranted disruption in their lives. “The state has already basically disrupted our lives,” Becky Hormuth told the Independent. “They’ve disrupted our families, our children’s lives with the legislation that has passed. Then for him to continue going on is even more invasive and damaging.” After Missouri passed a ban on gender-affirming care for minors last year, Bailey issued an emergency rule banning similar care for trans adults as well. In the document laying out the policy, he said these treatments “lack solid evidentiary support” and “pose very serious side effects.” He withdrew the rule when state lawmakers acted. Missouri Gov. Mike Parson, a Republican, signed the ban into law in June. It was quickly challenged in court, but a judge allowed it to go into effect.
Missouri AG Andrew Bailey (R) continues his farcical investigation into gender-affirming care providers, extending his targets to therapists and social workers who assist minors in obtaining gender-affirming care.

It is Pride Month. I am cis straight, so my aspiration is to be someone that can be trusted, rather than to celebrate the month personally.
But I'm not important.
What is important this Pride Month is that we be aware that our LGBTQIA+ siblings are being targeted for state-sponsored violence across this country.
That's dramatic, but it's legit -- states like Missouri and Florida are banning gender-confirming medical treatment for adults. That is a direct assault on bodily integrity. And that's violence, whether it comes from a gun, a fist, or a government rule.
Reactionary forces across this country are taking overt plays out of the fascist playbook, targeting identifiable minorities in order to assert authority over the entire population through fear of being targeted next.
Our siblings are in danger from politicians and groups who are willing to use violence, and we need to make it clear that we object on their behalf more than we fear for ourselves.
It's Pride Month. Today would be a good day to write your representatives, attend a protest, contribute to assistance funds.
And to hug each other.
Love is love.

Survival Fundraising for Disabled, Queer Siblings - Please Read (and Help)!
My sibling (Hem - a.k.a. rivalconga on Twitter) and I are disabled. Hem has a broken hip in need of a replacement they cannot yet get, POTS, HS, and an essential tremor. These conditions make it impossible for them to work outside of the home, and they have been applying for online WFH for many months. If you have WFH leads on transcription, data entry, or research work, please get in touch with them via the link to their Twitter, or hit me up here on Tumblr.
I just observed (in July) my 10th anniversary of a chronic congestive heart failure diagnosis, and I also am a fairly recently diagnosed T2D working on getting a good treatment regimen, and regularly require infusions of IV iron for lifelong iron-deficiency anemia that doesn't respond to oral iron supplements or dietary iron. I am also in the midst of trying to get an ADHD diagnosis.
I am unable to work, and I applied for SSDI in April, and was given my first denial in July, which happens in about 80% of SSDI cases. I am getting an attorney to appeal, but the process is slow. In the meantime, I'm not able to bring in income.
We do not have family to provide us with assistance, and we have extremely limited resources for help where we live. There are no homeless shelters here, and our state (Missouri) is openly hostile to LGBT+ and unhoused people. Also, most assistance here is tied to evangelical Christian organizations, and I am Jewish.
You can help us by spreading the word on your social media for us. If you can help us financially, even if only $1, please send aid to our payment apps:
Paypal - nivcharayahel
Venmo - heathmarie31 (This is Hem's account.)
CashApp - $heathmarie31
You can find direct links to these and my other social media at my Linktree:
Hem is also a budding artist, and is offering art for $10+ donations. Here's their Twiter thread for more details:

If you're interested and you can't contact them on Twitter, get in touch with me here!
Until Hem gets work and/or I get my SSDI approved, we need about $1200 monthly to cover rent, groceries/household supplies, and Rx/over-the-counter medical expenses.
We also have an Amazon Wishlist if you'd prefer to help in that way. (Link coming soon--it is badly in need of an overhaul.)
Thank you so much for helping us survive!

Headache After a Missouri Car Accident - When to Seek Legal Help
Tumblr media
Experiencing a headache after a car accident is not uncommon. But if it's just minor discomfort does it warrant a visit to the doctor? And when should you seek legal help? This article explores these questions and offers essential advice to help you understand your options.
Understanding Post-Accident Headaches
Headaches can occur for a variety of reasons after a car accident. They may result from the stress and adrenaline of the event, a concussion, whiplash, or even more severe traumatic brain injuries. Though it might seem trivial initially, a headache can sometimes be a warning sign of a more serious condition that could have long-term consequences.
When to Seek Medical Attention
If you notice persistent headaches following a car accident, do not ignore them. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience symptoms such as:
Severe headache or a headache that worsens with time
Headache accompanied by neck stiffness, nausea, or vomiting
Confusion, difficulty speaking, or slurred speech
Seizures or loss of consciousness
Remember, it's always better to be safe and get checked out, even if it feels like just a minor headache. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent potential complications down the line.
When to Seek Legal Help
Just as it's important to seek medical help for post-accident headaches, it's equally crucial to consult with a legal professional, particularly in the state of Missouri. If the accident was not your fault and you've suffered an injury, such as headaches or other medical conditions, you have the right to claim compensation for your suffering and medical expenses.
In some cases, the headaches may not manifest until days after the accident, which can make it challenging to link them to the accident and claim compensation. This is where a knowledgeable Missouri car accident lawyer can prove invaluable. They can guide you through the complex legal process and help you understand your rights.
Benefits of a Missouri Car Accident Lawyer
A Missouri car accident lawyer can help you in the following ways:
Assess your claim: They can help assess the validity and value of your claim, considering factors such as medical costs, loss of earnings, pain, and suffering.
Negotiate with insurance companies: Insurance companies often try to settle for the lowest possible amount. An experienced car accident lawyer can negotiate on your behalf to ensure you get a fair settlement.
Representation in court: If your case goes to trial, a lawyer can represent you in court, present your case effectively, and fight for your rights.
Peace of mind: Knowing a professional is handling your case can provide peace of mind, allowing you to focus on your recovery.
Choosing the Right Legal Help
When choosing a lawyer, you want to make sure you select someone experienced in Missouri car accident law. At The Hoffmann Law Firm, L.L.C., we have a strong track record handling car accident claims and extensive knowledge of Missouri law.

Maine becomes trans sanctuary state despite threats of violence
Despite violent threats from the religious right and MAGA extremists, Maine Gov. Janet Mills (D) has signed a new law that makes the state a sanctuary state for transgender people, abortion providers, and patients. The new law provides “protections to persons who seek, health care practitioners who provide and those who assist health care practitioners in providing gender-affirming health care services and reproductive health care services” that are legal in Maine. LD 227 establishes that access to such treatment is a legal right and that “interference with access to such services or the provision of such services is against the public policy of this State.” The law also protects people who seek legal healthcare and doctors who provide it in Maine from legal action originating in other states that ban or restrict such healthcare services. Doctors who provide legal healthcare services in Maine also have the right to sue for damages if they are targeted for legal action by other states. Attorneys general in Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, and Texas have attempted to obtain detailed medical records for transgender teens, their families, and health care providers. It explicitly enshrines the World Professional Association of Transgender Health’s Standards of Care. The law is similar to others passed in Massachusetts and Vermont. Conservative opponents tried to cast it as a measure that will allow widespread child trafficking, with Maine Republicans calling LD 227 the “transgender trafficking bill.” In early March, the Maine State House and the offices of the Maine Democratic Party were evacuated after multiple bomb threats that targeted the state capitol and at least two specific lawmakers. The threats followed social media posts from anti-LGBTQ+ hate influencer Chaya Raichik’s Libs of TikTok account about LD 227 and listing the names and email addresses of the bill’s sponsors, the Maine Morning Star reported. “We are thrilled to see LD 227, the shield bill, be signed into law by Governor Mills. Thanks to our pro-equality and pro-reproductive choice elected officials who refused to back down in the face of disinformation,” Gia Drew, executive director of EqualityMaine, said. “This bill couldn’t come into effect at a better time, as more than 40% of states across the country have either banned or attempted to block access to reproductive care, which includes abortions, as well as transgender healthcare for minors.” http://dlvr.it/T5yW9P

How Does Workers Comp Work in Missouri?
Tumblr media
Workers' compensation is a crucial system in place to support employees who suffer work-related injuries or illnesses in Missouri. This system is designed to provide financial assistance and medical care to workers during their recovery period, ensuring that they are not left to deal with the consequences of workplace accidents on their own. Below is an overview of how workers' compensation works in Missouri, with internal links to relevant pages for further information.
Understanding Workers' Compensation in Missouri
Workers' compensation is a form of insurance that employers are required to have to cover their employees in case of work-related injuries or illnesses. This system is designed to help workers recover and return to work while protecting employers from lawsuits related to workplace injuries.
Eligibility for Workers' Compensation
In Missouri, most employees are covered by workers' compensation insurance from the first day of their employment. This includes full-time, part-time, and even some seasonal workers. However, certain categories of workers, such as independent contractors, may not be eligible for workers' compensation benefits.
Types of Benefits Available
Workers' compensation in Missouri provides several types of benefits, including:
Medical Benefits: Coverage of all medical treatments related to the work injury, without any cost to the injured employee. Learn more about occupational hazards and their coverage.
Disability Benefits: Compensation for wages lost due to a temporary inability to work (temporary total disability) or for permanent impairments resulting from the injury (permanent partial or total disability).
Rehabilitation Benefits: Assistance with rehabilitation or retraining if the worker cannot return to their previous job due to the injury. Conditions like Baker's lung are examples of workplace issues that may require such benefits.
Death Benefits: Financial assistance to the dependents of a worker who dies as a result of a work-related injury or illness.
Filing a Claim
To receive workers' compensation benefits, an injured worker must report their injury to their employer as soon as possible. The employer is then responsible for reporting the injury to their workers' compensation insurance carrier. It's important to note that there are strict deadlines for reporting injuries, so prompt action is necessary to ensure eligibility for benefits.
The Role of the Missouri Division of Workers' Compensation
The Missouri Division of Workers' Compensation oversees the administration of workers' compensation claims in the state. This division ensures that workers receive the benefits they are entitled to and helps resolve disputes between employees and employers or insurance carriers.
St. Louis Workers Compensation Attorney
Workers' compensation in Missouri is designed to support workers who suffer from job-related injuries or illnesses, providing them with necessary medical care and financial assistance. It's a no-fault system, meaning that employees are eligible for benefits regardless of who was at fault for the injury. By understanding how workers' compensation works and leveraging resources like the Law Office of James M. Hoffmann, employees can better navigate the process and ensure they receive the support they need during their recovery.
If you have specific questions about your situation or need guidance with a workers' compensation claim in Missouri, consulting with a professional specializing in this area can provide the assistance and representation needed to navigate the complexities of these claims. Navigating the Green Path: A Comprehensive Guide to Missouri’s Medical Marijuana Program and Securing Your Card
Missouri's Medical Marijuana Program: Your Guide to Getting a Card
In recent years, the landscape of healthcare has seen a transformative shift, particularly in the realm of alternative medicine. Missouri, a state known for its rich history and diverse culture, has embraced this change by implementing a comprehensive Medical Marijuana Program. If you're considering exploring the therapeutic benefits of cannabis and are a resident of the Show-Me State, this guide is your roadmap to obtaining a medical marijuana card.
Understanding Missouri’s Medical Marijuana Program
Missouri's Medical Marijuana Program was established in 2018, following the approval of Amendment 2 by voters. This landmark decision made Missouri the 33rd state to legalize medical marijuana, opening the door to a wide range of health benefits for its residents.
Eligibility Criteria
The first step in the process is determining if you qualify for the program. Eligibility criteria typically include the presence of qualifying medical conditions such as chronic pain, epilepsy, cancer, and others. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) maintains an updated list of qualifying conditions on its official website.
Physician Certification
Once eligibility is established, the next crucial step is obtaining a physician's certification. This involves consulting with a state-licensed physician who will assess your medical history and confirm that your condition qualifies for medical marijuana use. It's essential to bring any relevant medical records to support your case during this consultation.
The Application Process
After receiving certification from a licensed physician, the next phase is the actual application process. The Missouri DHSS manages this process through an online portal. Applicants are required to submit personal information, medical history, and the physician certification. Additionally, a nominal application fee is collected to cover administrative costs.
Patient Identification Card
Upon successful completion of the application process, approved individuals receive a patient identification card from the DHSS. This card serves as official documentation, allowing legal access to medical marijuana from licensed dispensaries across the state.
Navigating Dispensaries and Strain Selection
With a patient identification card in hand, patients gain access to a network of licensed dispensaries throughout Missouri. These dispensaries offer a variety of cannabis products, including flowers, tinctures, edibles, and more. Knowledgeable staff at these establishments can assist in selecting strains that best suit individual needs and symptoms.
Staying Informed and Compliant
It's crucial to stay informed about any updates or changes to Missouri's Medical Marijuana Program. Regularly check the DHSS website for the latest information on qualifying conditions, application processes, and any amendments to the program's regulations.
Conclusion
Missouri's Medical Marijuana Program stands as a testament to the evolving perspectives on healthcare and the recognition of cannabis as a viable medical treatment. If you or a loved one are considering entering this program, follow the outlined steps, stay informed, and consult with healthcare professionals to make informed decisions about your well-being. The green path to alternative medicine awaits, and with the right guidance, it can lead to improved health and well-being for many Missourians. Explore this link to know more !!
