Solution to storing files larger than 4gb on memory cards for use by Android tablets or phones

I have a China brand Android 4.4 tablet that can only read fat32-formatted memory cards. I can't seem to find a free app that can let the tablet read exfat or NTSC memory cards.

The difference between fat32 and exfat or NTSC formats is that the latter 2 types can store files larger than 4 GB whilst fat32 can't.

This means I can't store movies which I record from my digital TV as they usually exceed 4gb.

I discovered a solution - the SanDisk MediaDrive which is a memory card cum WiFi device. I bought the 64gb version of this device for SGD45. It was originally priced at SGD190 but I guess that would not have interested many people including me. Btw, it's in exFat format.

I transferred my movie files from my computer to the mediadrive's Videos folder by usb cable. File transfer can also be done by connecting the computer to the mediadrive's WiFi network and keying in a certain website address on the computer's browser.

Next, I connected my cheap Android tablet to the mediadrive by WiFi with the help of an app from SanDisk which is meant for use with the mediadrive. I tapped on the Videos folder in the app and saw my movies inside that folder. After tapping on a movie file, I was asked to choose an existing video player on my tablet. I chose MX Player. After waiting about 5 seconds, MX Player actually played that movie!

If you stop playing the movie, close the SanDisk app and reopen it to play the movie again, MX Player actually resumes playing from where u last stopped!

It should be noted that I did not purposely buy the mediadrive as a solution to my tablet's inability to mount exfat and NTSC memory cards. I had bought the mediadrive at a firesale without thinking about how I would find it useful - and now it has proven useful.
