My theory on Poniko/Uboa (Yume Nikki)

If you know Yume Nikki, or just heard of it, then you probably know about the Uboa event. Basically, in a specific area of the game (the Pink Sea) it's possible to find a house you can get in, where you can find Poniko's room.

There's a certain chance that, by switching on and off the lights and exiting and re-entering the house, a Character called Uboa will appear, replacing Poniko.

After that, interacting with Uboa will send you to another place, where you can escape only by using the Medamaude effect (an effect that lets you spawn back in the Nexus, the room with all the doors) or by waking up

Now, it's pretty obvious that Uboa and Poniko are most likely the same entity. There's plenty of theories that link Uboa to very heavy topics regarding Madotsuki's life (and i won't go into detail, there's plenty of youtube videos about that). My theory is much more straight up, easy to understand and less heavy:

Poniko turns into Uboa only because she gets so PISSED OFF by you repeatedly turning on and off the lights. Like, she gets so angry at you that she turns into a scary monster and sends you to another dimension, just to make you understand you were being annoying as hell.

Adding more thoughts to this thought:

- Overblot bois but they're Poniko/Uboa. So basically you annoy them enough until they turn into their overblot versions and send you to the nightmare realm. Hell, they might even chase u around like toriningen before trapping u somewhere in the dream world. You can find them in certain areas, like Poniko's room.

- some effects I already have in mind regarding the twst bois (some are gonna be based on the 24 effects in the game, and some might be purely made up based on their personalities):

Riddle: Severed head. Cause, Off with Your Head, lol.

Deuce: Bicycle. Since he's a big blastcycle fan. Plus there was one story in the twst anthology where he and Ace found a bike

Cater: Multiply. Think of the midget effect, but only the part where they multiply.

Floyd: Flute. This one's based on his wind instrument skills as shown in Port Fest.

Jade: Mushroom. I think it'd be cute if there's an effect that gives a mushroom cap :)))

Kalim: I'm torn between giving him a Rain effect to match his UM (to replace the umbrella effect), or a Magic carpet for flying (to replace the witch effect).

Jamil: Snake Charm. Like the cat effect, this effect allows u to pull the NPCs closer to you.

Epel: Harveston outfit! A cozy winter garb

Silver: His effect Transports you to a safer part of the dream (the Nexus) just like the eye-palm/medamaude effect. Maybe a small bird will accompany u and carry u away?

Sebek: Thunder. Like the Oni effect, it gives a loud thunder rumble followed by flashes of lightning, but you won't need any rain for this one.

I still haven't got a clue what kind of effect I want Ace, Trey, Leona, Jack, Ruggie, Azul, Vil, Rook, Idia, Ortho, Malleus, and Lilia will have. Maybe some will just transform them into animals? (Jack: Wolf, Malleus: Dragon, Lilia: Bats, etc.). Ruggie could also have the same effect as the cat effect, as in moving people out of the way. For Trey and Vil, I was thinking of effects that could change your appearance (Hair style, color, etc.).

Also, I wonder who shall I give the knife effect to... :)

What if Twisted Wonderland but it's Yume Nikki?

Yuu (along with grim) play as Madotsuki and goes into dream world every time they sleep via a mirror (instead of a door)

They wander around the dream worlds and there are 7 mirrors that lead to 7 dream worlds, representing each dorms ofc.

Basically, the maps are just the dorms pocket universe that loops around. Tho some passages may lead to new areas.

Heartslabyul rose mazes, Scarabia desert, Diasomnia thorny forests, etc.

They could even lead to other parts in twisted wonderland (example: Heartslabyul to Queendom of Roses, Ignihyde to Island of Woe, so on so on)

BUT THIS THE FUN PART

Of course the rest of the cast is gonna be there too

And each time Yuu interacts with any of them, they'll get an Effect.

I haven't thought of what Effect each students will give, but I was dead set on Riddle's effect being the decapitated head effect like when Madotsuki interacts with the guillotine.

Maybe a thunder effect for Sebek like the Oni effect?
