Now I'm trying to remember how many pets I lived with at once as a kid.

Grandma & Grandpa's house: two cats (three? or was the really fluffy one just visiting?) two dogs, two budgies.

Mom & Stepdad's house: two cats, multiple rats, fluctuating number of finches but minimum of two, the lizard we shouldn't have had*, two parrots, the many fish (and other fishtank denizens). I know I had a dwarf hamster for several years but am unsure how many of the others it coincided with. I think I named it Walnut but we all called it The Tribble.

*the lizard had an appropriate tank and diet but unlike everything else it did not come from a pet store. My stepdad found it in a gravel parking lot and brought it home in his water bottle. What the fuck was he thinking.

Very early childhood was just two cats, for a few years custody visits with Dad meant just one cat, and later one cat & one dog, but yeah the maximums were...a lot. I think my mom & stepdad are down to just two cats and maybe the fish now. I hope they are.

And guess who turned out to be allergic to most of this!!!
