I recently commissioned @me1onmi1k for a picture of Kaidan Alenko and Reyes Vidal for my The Golden Boy & The Shady Bastard series of fics and oh man, did they DELIVER!!!!! LOOK AT THEM!!! These two snuck up on me and stole my heart and now I have actual art of them TOGETHER! <3

sigh I suppose this means I now have to write the fic to go with this picture. Oh darn. ;)

(WIP Ask Game)

I’m a bit late on this one and I’m afraid I don’t have much in the way of actual writing to share at the moment 😅 It’s purely vibes. It is based on this lovely (and very NSFW!) art by me1onmi1k if you’d like to take a look on Twitter :3

I’ve mentioned this a few times possibly, so apologies for those that have seen it. This is my interpretation of what happens between the part of Season of the Lost where Crow regains the memories of his past life and then when we work with him again in Season of the Risen. And when I say memories, I am specifically focusing on the memory of being killed in a previous life by my OC, with whom he is now in a relationship. He’s overwhelmed by these memories and canonically asks to be put on another assignment and asks the PC to give him some space.

I wanted this mini fic to just be gross sappy romantic make up sex, the fucking works. A sudden and previously unspoken “I love you”. Because nothing says that like crying while being balls deep in your lover. Well, imo :)

Tears prickled at the corners of her eyes as she paused over the largest scar in the center—the mark of a hand cannon. Why had he come back even after knowing this?

N7 Month, Day 11: Crucible

Maybe a little on the nose for the day's tag, but, well, whaddyagonnado?

This is my post-war MShenko (extremely) longfic that I've been working on for two years and started posting in October 2020. Have just one more two-part chapter of the story proper to post and then three epilogue chapters, so it is technically a WIP but it's very much nearing the end.

It's 1st POV from Shepard, Kaidan, Liara, Tali, Garrus, and Joker (though overwhelmingly Shepard and Kaidan). It's reluctantly canon-complicit/compliant with MShenko getting together in ME3 and a Destroy ending, taking a deep dive into the personal and wider political ramifications of Shepard's choice (CW: Intense emotional distress, PTSD, check the chapter tags). But not to worry - there's also plenty of hurt/comfort, humor, and fluff (with more than a dash of M-rated smut for good measure 😏)!

Oh, and some absolutely incredible art from @thepixelagora, @me1onmi1k, @theheroofoakvale, @axtry, and @geekyblackchic!!!

Excerpt:

Lachlan once heard that night skies are the best skies because they hold secret and safe the stories of the different worlds they envelope.  He’s been under many night skies over the years.  The double moons of Mindoir.    Terra Nova for one night before all hell broke loose.  The unpolluted darkness out at the Alenko orchard.  Numerous other worlds over the years of serving with the Alliance. 

But the night sky of Elysium, at this moment in time, is the most brilliant and beautiful and he never wants to forget it.

A heavy glass clinks lightly with ice as it’s pressed into his hand and the peaty aroma tickles his nose.  Smiling, Lachlan leans back as his husband’s arm wraps around him and he sighs softly, humming his appreciation.  Kaidan clinks their glasses together, laughter filling Lachlan’s ears.  “To us.”

“Hmm.  To us.”  Lachlan straightens to sip his drink, savoring the taste as he continues to look up at the star-lit sky.  Turning, he rests his hips against the balcony railing and focuses his gaze on Kaidan.  “D’you ever think about how damned lucky we are?”

End Run - Caleb Shepard

Caleb retreats to his cabin after Cortez returns them to the Normandy following the destruction of Cronos. Cerberus is gone; there is only one battle left. They're committed to the attack against the Reapers, but there's still time to make one last check - on numbers, on his armor, on...

Kaidan follows after Shepard. Earth is just a few hours away. For the first time since they fled Vancouver months ago, they'll return, and this time there is no turning back. No matter what happens, they're putting everything on the line.

Caleb doesn't turn when the door whooshes open, simply stands at his desk with his arms braced against it. His heart rate speeds up, his breathing catches. It isn't fear of the Reapers taking control, but what will happen in the next few minutes.

This is it.

Kaidan moves to his left. There's no music this time, nothing but the soft burble of the fish tank, the whir of the air recycling system, and silence. Resting a hand on Shepard's shoulder, he waits.

Caleb shudders as he turns. All the faces of everyone he's ever loved and lost in his life flash before him until only one visage remains. Staring deep into Kaidan's honey-brown eyes, Caleb frames his face and remembers every single moment of the past ten years since they first met. One after another after another they flit by - too fast to grab hold or savor.

Kaidan retreats pulling Shepard with him; guiding him away from duty for just a few minutes while praying that time will slow down and give them these few minutes, this moment together one last time.

What do you say in a moment like this? What can you say? Neither has the answer. The silence continues.

Though the silence is a comfort, Caleb needs more than that, wants more than that. He leans in, desperate to touch, to feel. Kaidan meets him halfway, their forheads brushing, eyes closing, soft yet heavy sighs filling the air between them as together they cling to these last few minutes and hope...

They try to enter the apartment side by side and end up laughing like loons when they get stuck. Too much good food and better drink will do that, Kaidan decides as he slips through first and tosses the keys onto the small table nearby. Caleb, snorting softly as he follows, secures the door behind them. It’s late – thankfully, the kids are back at the orchard with seanmháthair, because given the time now, they’re going to want to sleep in tomorrow – far too late in some respects, but it was worth every moment despite the consequences they’ll pay later on.

Caleb fumbles with the lights, finally bringing them up and saving them both from bruised shins and jammed toes. He covers a lazy yawn with one hand while making his way deeper into the apartment. “Who knew the old man still had it in him.”

Kaidan snickers softly. Old man, indeed. Finding his way to the small bar, he digs out two glasses and a familiar bottle, one they’ve been working on for well over a year now, as rare as it is they’re in the city. Just one last drink to subdue the sting left from the cold outside. Lifting it, he waggles it in Caleb’s direction in silent question.

The Savior of the Galaxy nods. “Aye.”

Kaidan pours two drinks and follows his husband into the front room. Handing one over, they clink the glasses, murmur, “Sláinte,” at the same time, and stand next to one another near the sliding door to the balcony that overlooks English Bay. Though the stars sparkle brightly in the mostly clear sky, the western horizon hints at an approaching storm. Kaidan sighs. So much for Christmas shopping. “We should probably head back tomorrow…” He glances at the chronometer on the wall. “I mean, today.”

Caleb eyes him over the rim of his glass, the corner of his lips twitching in mild amusement. “What’s wrong, mo ghrá? Feeling the cold in your old bones?”

Kaidan huffs and shoulder checks him. “You’ll hit forty soon enough.”

“Hmmm.” Caleb takes another sip of his drink as he loops an arm through Kaidan’s and guides him in the direction of their bedroom. “You don’t look a day over thirty-five, don’t worry.”

Kaidan’s chuckle sounds more like a giggle. “Lucky for you I don’t feel much over thirty-five.”

They enter the room one at a time this go-round. Caleb sets his now empty glass aside and takes Kaidan’s from him as well. “Aye, there is that, too.”

I’m a little surprised at the order of some of these, but overall not surprised at which ones are at the top of the list.  It’s been a good year to display my boys in art!  I’ve had the chance to work with so many wonderful artists like @me1onmi1k @xla-hainex and @bbegrill​ !  The rest of the posts are thanks to Mass Effect: Legendary Edition screenshots and the Arcane filter.  Lots of great images to enjoy!
