in a way i’m kind of scared of jjk ending for the reason that it’s been such a long hyperfixation for me that i don’t want it to end just for that alone

like, i dunno though. usually when i go through anime phases, it’s very rare for me to focus on more than one character. even with aot, it was like, i’m making it through for levi, haha…

but you know how it is for jjk, which is… yeah. so maybe the delusions can last a while longer, hopefully.

Reading rambles📖

I'm reading Powerless by Lauren Roberts, because she seemed nice on her tiktoks and promoted her book as a Red Queen inspired original work. Guys, this is basically a Red Queen rewrite with some minor tweaks and a more juvenile prose, if that was even possible. I don't mean it in a bad way, I'm enjoying the book after all. I can't remember if she was more of a Maven or Cal stan, but the Cal-inspired warrior prince is the stereotypical Alpha male that seems to plague romantasy these days and it made me realize, if the male love interest isn't at least a bit of a pathetic nerd, or an unapologetic himbo, I can't vibe with them.

On another note, I think spacing out interactions between the romance protagonists heightens the romantic tension and makes for a better love story, rather than smushing one tropey scene after the other, leaving no room for individual character build up in between. This book does a lot of that, so the romance becomes "too much too fast". We'll see how it goes, maybe there's going to be a switch for the Maven-inspired intelectual Prince later on. That would be interesting. I'll keep you guys posted.

Still reading Drums of Autumn and pffttt...I'm sorry, but I'm dying that Jamie decided to get in on that sweet colonization gig with the statement "If I am to live as a man, I must have a mountain". o.O

Another thing it's hard not to take note of is how Jamie is just as bad as John when it comes to talking about his honour all the time. Now, if they always spoke of honour in the sense of integrity and ethics it wouldn't get under my skin the way it does, but the "honour" they speak of most of the time is of their own reputation, their esteem in the eyes of others. They could replace the word "honour" with EGO and their meaning would be just the same.

It honestly smacks of pridefulness to me in a way that someone as religious as Jamie ought to know to be wary of. The virtue of humility? They never heard of it. :P

Also, the bit with Brianna and Roger where he's like, "I want you so let's get married". Geez, the hypocrisy of him giving Bre the judgemental third degree over her wanting to sleep with him without getting married when he'd already slept with who knows how many women before that without giving a fig about marriage before that. 🙄
