(Almost Solid) Proof That Dan Ran PhilsLion

I'm convinced that Dan was the person who ran the PhilsLion twit and I have receipts.  For anyone who doesn't know, PhilsLion is a twitter account that tweeted from the POV of Lion. It's commonly thought that this account was run by Phil. Besides the fact that he would interact with the account, there are multiple tweets that seem to be about him and dan. Unfortunately there's good reason to believe it wasn't Phil running it. HOWEVER there are many reasons that lead me to believe it was Dan who was tweeting from it, some of which is evidence based and some of which makes logical sense.

DISCLAIMER: All tweets I've included that are ostensibly about dan and phil's relationship are in reference to things that are confirmed by d&p themselves (e.g. the fact that d&p were romantically involved when they first met). I will not discuss anything that is not supposed to be public knowledge.

First let's look at when the Twitter was created. (Note: I am in UTC-8 so all screenshots will be in that time zone. I will say what time it would've been in UTC+0 (d&p's time zone) for clarity.)

Dan’s twitter account was created in May 2009. The first tweet from him (assuming he did not delete any older ones) was May 15 at 1:18pm. Presumably this is the day he got twitter.

On May 16 2009 at 3:19am Phil tweeted that he uploaded “I was kidnapped.” 

In this video he mentions his own personal twitter account, and there is an annotation of Lion saying “i want a twitter” (20sec into the video)

About 3 hours after the video was posted (6:26am UTC+0), we get the first tweet from PhilsLion (presumably this was right after the account was created)

May 16th 2009 was a Saturday. We know from Dan’s video “THE POWER NAP” that he worked at ASDA on Saturdays and Sundays from 5am-10am. So he would’ve been awake shortly after Phil posted the video. Also note that Dan presumably had an iPhone at the time (he tweeted something about iPhones in June 2009 and had no previous tweets before that about getting a new phone). He specifically tweeted in Sep 2009 about tweeting from his iPhone. Based on the fact that Dan literally showed up to work drunk and took a nap, I don’t think he is above going on twitter at work.

While this is not proof that Dan created the account, we can see that it’s definitely possible for him to have created the account. We know he would’ve been awake at the time the account was created, and it was approx. a day after he created his own twitter account, so making a twitter account would've been fresh in his mind.

We do have proof that Phil did not create the account. First, he edited the description of “I was kidnapped.” to say that someone [else] created PhilsLion:

He also tweeted May 16th (10:35am UTC+0 if that matters to anyone) basically saying the same thing as the video desc, implying that someone else made the account:

Finally in “AmazingJason” (posted May 26th) he mentions, again, “someone [else]” creating the Twitter account (about 20seconds in, the timestamp is linked). He encourages everyone to follow it and links it in the description of the video:

So unless Phil was really pushing that someone else created it even though he himself made it, it wasn’t him.

If you want to skip to Proof™ scroll down to the next photo of Phil. Before that, I’d like to debunk the 11:11/different time zone thing–I think this is the biggest reason people have claimed that the account was not run by Phil or Dan but rather some other random fan. On May 30th at 4:12pm UTC+0 and June 3rd at 4:19am UTC+0, PhilsLion tweeted about making wishes at 11:11. In order for these tweets to be made at ~11:11 local time, they would need to have been made in either UTC-5 or UTC+7. UTC-5 is US Eastern Time. UTC+7 is a time zone mainly consisting of Southeast Asia. This includes parts of Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. I have an explanation for this, which is certainly the biggest reach of this whole thing, but it is a plausible explanation :p

It’s very possible that it was Dan who tweeted this if he was on vacation with his family at the time. We know Dan and his family have vacationed in Asia many times (at the very least they went to Thailand in 2006, India in 2010 and 2013, and Sri Lanka in 2016). So while there’s no proof (that I know of) that Dan was on vacation at this time, it’s certainly possible that he was. The location of the tweets would fit with where we know his family likes to go on holiday. Additionally, the second tweet talks about water skiing, which tends to be a fun vacation thing rather than something people do regularly (note this tweet would be at 11:19am in UTC+7)

There’s further proof that PhilsLion was not always in UTC+7. On Christmas 2009, PhilsLion tweeted “goodmorning” at 6:21am UTC+0. This would be 1:21pm in UTC+7. It makes a lot more sense for this to have been tweeted in England.

Then fast forward to January 8th 2011. PhilsLion tweets “I was up all night” at 8:05am UTC+0. This would be 3pm in UTC+7. So again, it seems that PhilsLion was not in UTC+7 at this time.

Okay, now onto much more solid evidence. First, the handwriting of PhilsLion. This is the most tangible piece of proof. On June 25th 2009 Phil posted “AmazingAlex,” where Lion can be seen behind him in one of Phil’s shoes:

Lion tweeted a photo the next day, saying “I’m on a boat :)” in reference to being in Phil’s shoe

Note that the drawing/writing does not appear in the video and therefore was done by whoever runs PhilsLion. Here is some of Dan’s writing (found in TABINOF) for comparison:

This is from the “how to draw cat whiskers” page. Notice how the As all have the crossbar quite high up, just like in the twitter picture. Additionally, the top loops in the Bs are all very skinny compared to the bottom loop. Here’s another one of Dan’s capital Bs from the blindfolded portrait page, which is similar to Lion's writing:

I’m not a handwriting analysis expert, and yes it’s different drawing on MSPaint vs. a piece of paper, but the handwriting certainly has similarities.

And now, the more circumstantial evidence, but things that seem (imo) to be too big of a coincidence to not have been written by Dan (FYI these are going to be added in order of how much of a reach they are, not chronological order, lol). First we have “I month you”:

This tweet is proposing an alternate word for “love” and ends with “I month you” (i.e. is replacing the word love with month), and was tweeted on November 19th 2009. AKA exactly a month after dan and phil met IRL for the first time.

Another one that seems very related to Dan and what we know of his situation is this tweet about “Lion’s” dad:

In Dan’s own words in BIG: “I didn’t think I could ask my family for help or share my feelings about this, mainly due to my dad. Funny guy, kind of a woke hippie who did and said a lot of things I did respect but at the same time used to walk around the house saying how he hoped someone he had a problem with at work would 'die of bum cancer.' Yep, so picked the one area to be a bigot that would further traumatize your child. Nice! This experience coming from a childhood hearing the word gay meaninglessly thrown around as an insult at home[.]” 

Note that Dan was still living at home at the time, so if this tweet was made by him, it wouldn't have meant literally “getting away.” Also, Dan was at home when this was tweeted but it was 3 days before he was going to see Phil.

Next there’s this tweet:

The “admirers” thing could be referring to anything really, but was tweeted during the time that Dan (and Phil) were in the Clipstar video contest. Also, Dan posted this dailybooth two days before this tweet, and most of the comments are just gassing him up, so lol (the pic doesn’t load but based on the comments I think it was a screenshot from his clipstar vid).

Many things to note here. The song linked is called “When I See You Again.” It’s by Dave Bullas (one of the founders of SiTC), whom d&p were/are friends with. (They had other friends who were friends with him as well. PJ has the top comment on the video.) The lyrics of the song are not really happy as they insinuate a breakup. But it’s interesting to think about them in the context of wanting to see someone who you are not able to. This tweet was 3/4 days after the “I wonder how biology…” tweet and 3 days before Dan went to see Phil.

Also, Dan just LOVES recommending music to people. He does it a lot.

Now a tweet exchange which doesn't technically prove anything, but I thought was curious. Phil tweeted December 29 2010 about getting a new camera:

Lion tweeted in reference to this 20 minutes later:

I find this interesting because Phil made no comment anywhere about manuals or ignoring them. So it could just be PhilsLion making schput, but a lot of the other Lion tweets are in direct reference to something Phil said/did. It would make sense if Dan ran the twitter acc and he was talking about something that he witnessed Phil do that we don’t know about. Also note “my new camera is here” vs. “phil picked up his new camera” (Lion giving more specific detail than Phil in terms of the manner in which he obtained the camera).

Some Tweets (1, 2, 3) which aren’t proof of anything but just sound like things Dan would say:

For context, this is about floods that happened in Queensland. Again, I have no way to prove Dan said this. But if you’ve ever read, like, anything Dan has said in a print interview ever or watched any of his liveshows, you know that he often tries to say stuff with superfluous/pretentious language and then ends up not making a whole lot of sense. Things that he’s said have been misconstrued so many times, or just outright don’t make sense to anyone but him. So this series of tweets checks out, if it is Dan who ran the account.

Note that two weeks later (October 23) in “Life without the internet!?” Phil says the internet led to him “meeting the best friend of [his] life.” The comments all assume he is referencing Dan, but in the video he holds up Lion, so presumably that’s actually who he’s talking about. That is, unless Lion represents Dan :p

Lastly, this tweet which is a Fall Out Boy lyric, but again would be cute if it was Dan:

There's a few more tweets that are interesting to think about being from Dan but don't actually prove anything so I won't put them here lol.

So, at the end of the day, could it be some random fan* who made the twitter account? Yes. But in my opinion there isn’t really anything proving it’s not Dan. On top of that, there are enough things that fit with what we know factually about d&p now, but were not well known at the time, that make it seem much more likely that Dan ran this account vs. a random person.

*technically when the account was started, Dan himself was a random fan. So there’s that too ;)

Carson and Malone: The Beginning

Carson and Malone had always been the best of friends, even through the tough moments of growing up they had always been close. Even through both had two different personalities, Malone being a more outgoing guy and Carson being more shy. And being different species as well, the two were the bestest of friends and nothing could break them apart. Carson being a light brown spotted anthropomorphic fox and Malone being a Dark Gray anthropomorphic salamander.

The beginning of high school was the first moment that things changed for Carson. Carson for the past few summers, has been going to summer camp. There he met new friends and even a friend he’s really enjoyed talking to and hanging out with, even outside of came. Thomas, was gay, and Carson was curious about Thomas’ experience as Carson was a bit confused about his sexuality.

After camp that summer, Alex had gone to his friend group and came out to them that he was dating someone named Mike from camp. They were a bit surprised but were overly supportive and happy for Carson. Malone was happy for Carson too! But after a month goes by, Carson slowly grew more sad and emotional as Mike had completely ghosted him. Not responding to any text. Carson had texted Thomas, and Mike and Thomas went to the same school. To his horror, Thomas had replied that Mike was in a relationship with someone. And sent a photo he posted with a caption that hurt Carson even more; ‘Me and my first ever BF!’

‘I’m sorry he did that to you Carson, are you okay?’ Thomas 12:27am.

Carson was heart broken. He couldn’t believe that this was happening. All that time spent together? That night he was locked out of his cabin and Thomas inviting him to stay in his cabin and sleeping in the same bed? That all meant nothing? Carson cried for awhile until he grabbed his phone again and scrolled to a certain name.

‘It’s over, he did ghost me’ - Carson 1:20am

Carson didn’t expect a text back as it was pretty late, so he turned his phone off and curled in his blankets sobbing to himself. A mess of self loathing and mind spiraling. *Ding!* Carson snapped out of his spiraling, and slowly grabbed his phone and turned it on, peeking through the layer of tears over his eyes.

‘What? I’m sorry Carson. How do you know did he finally message you?’ Malone 1:24am

‘I messaged my friend from camp, he said he’s dating someone else now’ 1:25am.

Carson’s fingers started to get shaky.

‘I’m so sorry Carson. Fuck I’d come over to be there for you but my parents are still awake..’ Malone 1:26am

‘It’s okay dw rn, I feel horrible, I’ve been so obsessed with waiting for responses I’m a fucking loser’ Carson 1:28am

‘You are not a loser Carson! That guys just a dick. Fuck him. You didn’t deserve to be dumped like that. You’re a great guy Carson.’ Malone 1:29am

Carson agreed but it didn’t feel like it at the time. His heart felt shattered and torn up. Sure it was a high school relationship and those never really work out, but it was different for him, Carson had thought. Maybe it was the distance between them? Maybe it was just a fling during camp? Camp was boring enough, maybe it was just a way to have fun. He was never given an answer at the time for why, which made him more miserable than before.

Carson was already going to therapy for a previous incident, so the break up became the main focus of their talks for a long time. He had eventually told his mom and her awesome boyfriend Rodney that he was gay and got dumped. He didn’t care if they supported or not, but he was happy to see they were both supportive of him, and even took him out for pizza.

Flash forward to Junior year of High School. Carson and Malone’s friendship had shifted a little bit this year. It was Miguel’s birthday, Malone’s best reptilian friend, and being the rich guy of the group, took everyone out on his yacht for a fun party!

At one point during the night Malone had disappeared, and Carson noticed. He looked around the whole yacht and eventually found Malone crying at front of the yacht. He walked up to Malone slowly and gently asked what was wrong. It hurt Carson to see Malone so upset by something, he had always seen Malone always so positive and happy.

“My parents they uh, had admitted that me and Quinn were mistakes. They especially didn’t want me.” Malone looked out into the massive lake as he spoke.

Carson had no idea how to respond to that, but he had to, obviously. Malone had always been there to make him feel better, so it’s time for Carson to do the same. He had sat down beside Malone and talked.

Eventually saying something that would get Malone to feel a bit better, “Well, I’m glad you were born, Malone. Otherwise I wouldn’t have met you.”

Malone had chuckled a little while tearing up, and quickly came in and hugged Carson tightly, and he hugged back. They held a hug for a good minute.

“I’m glad too.” Malone whispered.

After that day, everything seemed to be okay again in their lives. They eventually graduated high school together happy as can be, both heading to the same community college together as well. Most of their friends had moved or went to other colleges, but Carson and Malone agreed to apply to the same Community college before transferring to a University. As best friends do. Malone wanted to become a professional baker and chef, while Carson wanted to become a painter. He had a few years of experience as well. But life had other plans. When one day Malone had introduced someone to Carson that made his heart sink.

“Hey Carson! I wanted to introduce you to Courtney! We started dating today! She’s amazing! Courtney, this is Alex. Alex this is Courtney!” Malone smiled as he had his arm around this beige colored anthropomorphic rabbit.

‘DATING?!’ Carson screamed in his mind.

J and Charles being the only ones with the braincell besides Teruko by default- I love those two even more now! They’ve definitely made their way to the top of my tier list-

ehehe anyway- the voice actors in this were so good- Veronika’s voice is so nice I love it <3 Ace’s voice acting was done so well in this ep even if it scared me how quiet and defeated he sounded- J is very correct murder is bad. Also her voice is <3 And TERUKO is pulling the class trial again. Teruko snapping!! And Teruko projecting on Ace, not wanting to accuse him just because he got attacked earlier- because of what happened in trial 1-

So that as a summary, the voice actors were so fucking good in this ep like they’ve been in every other ep so far-

Feet brushed against satin sheets that emitted scents of soft, freshly washed cotton after you’d done the washing days prior. A faint groan muffled itself into the pillows under your head and slowly you turned your head to admire the half asleep form of your boyfriend, Vernon. A smile crawled across your face, watching as the rising sun painted his face through the thin curtains that drifted ever-so-slightly in the summer breeze. It was rare you two could lay together like this in the mornings. Your boyfriend was usually rushing off to do idol things - perhaps dance practise or an appearance on a TV show. If it wasn’t Vernon hurrying off so early, it would be you -  always finding some chore to do or being roped into something by your sister. 

You rolled with some effort onto your side, turning your back to Vernon as you reached across to your nightstand for your phone. It was only 7:23am, you had nothing planned for the day but you were uncertain about Vernon. Usually he’d be awake by now anyway, so he could shower before the day started. A heavy feeling laid across your waist as your boyfriend shuffled behind you, closing the gap you’d made when you rolled over as he pressed his back against yours. He planted a kiss on your hair, your legs entwining as he got comfy nestled up to you as you mindlessly scrolled through social media, seeing what things his fans had posted now; you never had a problem with most of it, mind you. You loved scrolling and seeing gifs and photos of Vernon that his fans had created. You would save some of them, anyone could mistake you for a fan sometimes.

“What time is it?” His sleepy, deep voice startled you slightly as he let out a yawn, pressing a kiss to your bare shoulder as he waited for your response. Vernon never admitted often how in love he was and he would even more sparsely mention what he loved about you. But by God was he head over heels for your voice. He’d always promise himself to one day sit and record your singing, or simply the way you hum when cooking dinner. Vernon not only cherished those moments but he cherished hearing your voice. 

“7:26am, do you have a schedule today?” You hummed in response, raising his hand that’d fell over your waist to your lips so you could plant a kiss in return for his. Vernon hummed back, deep and hearty as he took his hand back momentarily to run a hand through his rough locks, ruffling them some more. 

“Only this afternoon,” he finally replied back as he replaced his arm back around your waist, to which you rolled onto your back once more so you could see his face, “which means I get to spend more time with my amazing girlfriend.”

“You flatter me,” you mused, rolling your eyes as he pressed his lips to yours momentarily, “I should make breakfast.”

You moved to get up, preparing to sling your legs over the side of your bed but a strong force pulled you back, convinced he could keep you in bed for longer. He chuckled as you shot a small glare in his direction before admitting defeat.

“We’ll get up soon,” he reasoned with you, to which you nodded - knowing damn well it wouldn’t be ‘soon,’ “we don’t get to do this often.”

His words brought a frown to your face and you nodded again silently, letting out a soft sigh at the thought. You were simply lucky that he only had an afternoon schedule today. Out of the blue, Vernon’s catchy ringtone - an instrumental of 2 Minus 1, his song with his other American bandmate - began to tune into the silence. Vernon furrowed his brows as you passed him his phone, watching his face as he answered the call. He was responding to the caller in Korean, which meant you couldn’t cross off the potential callers - for Christ’s sake you lived in South Korea with him, what was you supposed to do? Cross off the possibility of his bank, his company, his medical records?

Your very limited Korean also meant you wasn’t overly picking up too much of what he was saying. He threw in the occasional ‘hyung’ and at least you knew what that word was, and you confirmed mentally to yourself whoever it was was older than him. You didn’t find that to be very hard seeing as he was born in 1998. The only one of his bandmates younger than him was born in 1999. You got on well with Chan, now that you thought about the maknae. Vernon finished his call, proceeding to lay on his back and scroll through social media. You cuddled up to his side, slotting yourself under his raised arm that was holding his phone above his face. He pressed another kiss to your head as he scrolled through Instagram.

“I miss chwenotchew,” you commented quietly as you reminisced on his old account name, making him chuckle in response, “who called?”

“Cheol-hyung,” Vernon sighed and you almost thought it would have been a bad phone call until he continued, “it’s like he has no faith in you waking me up on time. He was making sure I was awake for practise this afternoon.”

You laughed, placing a hand on his bare chest as you traced small figures and shapes onto his skin with the tip of your finger, humming to yourself. Of course it would be practise this afternoon, he had a comeback right around the corner that he was preparing for. With that, you began to remember the world tour his company had recently also announced. A frown painted your face as you tried to fight negative emotions but you weren’t entirely sure if you’d be able to join Vernon on this one. You had to miss the last one because you weren’t well but thankfully - somehow - it was cancelled midway through because of the ongoing pandemic. 

“What do you love most about these moments, Sol?” You spoke quietly, looking up at his face through your eyelashes as you referred to him by your nickname for his Korean name, he seemed a little shocked at this but responded none-the-less.

“Being able to just feel your touch,” he mumbled, putting his phone down as he placed his arm around you, the other hand tracing on your shoulder as you had done to him, “I’m rarely around long enough to see your eyes open too. You’re usually asleep by the time I can come home so I miss out on seeing them, my favourite colour.”

You hoped you could hide the bright hues of red and pink your cheeks were turning in response to his answer - one you didn’t entirely expect but that’s why you asked in the first place. You didn’t exactly know what to say, so you were glad when he continued, “what about you?”

“The way you hold me.”
