I am...

The child of a soul lost in an ocean; The child of an angel whose country was lost in the war, Forced to grow up in a place that is not her own; Her soul, always filled with love, becomes my cornerstone.

 Here I am,

A child standing at Central Station, Waiting to get on the next streetcar, I dream of a ticket to freedom, To travel to the land of my dreams. My Lord, my Creator, he tells me to go Leaving behind all I know.

Abandoning the womb that held me close, I choose a life far from shelter and wealth. The mother who was forced to live somewhere else Watched me in tears flying to a foreign sky My head is filled with so many dreams, hopes, and wishes. It’s hard to comprehend the vastness of this big decision.

I’ve arrived, I am soaring high. Living in the New World filled with blue skies. But suddenly, there is confusion, heartache, and pain. Yet, I swear, I will never give up on my gains.

There is my baby, the baby of my dreams. But life is still tough, and scars appear. Yet, I continue to swear never to let go of my sphere. I’ve been knocked down before, but I’ve learned to always get up.

The years go by, and I leave and return. Arriving on ancient land, I know, will heal my pain and reaffirm. I vow, the longer I look, I sense I’ve been here many times past. I take it in and smile, knowing that I’m headed home at last.

I stand alone with my child for many more years, Still battling old and new scars. My soul knows that I am so close to home, Just be patient and stay strong.

Here they are, in the lands of the ancient. I listen and learn in self-effacement. I meet the man meant to complement my soul. To assist in the healing and patrol. I feel my Creator’s intentions return.

After decades of bad receipts, The healing is complete. I know I’m finally home. I am home and ready to achieve.

Part 2, August 2024

And then in a spur of a moment,  Everything I longed for disappeared. For more than a decade, I pleaded, For more than a decade, I feared, For the monster to gain access,  To strike while he is unaware, Allowing the beast to destroy what is so dear.

He’s sick, weak, and in terrible pain.  Laying there praying for mercy, Hoping for relief and strength to endure,  Yearning for the end of this ordeal.

A chance to start over,  A chance to smile without effort. Yet, he knows relief is not waiting around the corner. It’s hiding in the shadows, nowhere to be seen.

He’s worked hard for where he wanted to be. A titan, self-proclaimed, of iron will. He walked through fields of gold plagued by capital detriment. And while reaching for his dreams high-up in the blue, He’s become the silhouette against an ominous hue.

He is unconscious of the looming doom, a somber specter, grim and bad. He finds himself a victim of his pride, and his heart breaks.  Life’s harsh wings clip Hope’s fragile feathers.

Yet, his life has changed many times over before,  Like a river carving a winding path,  He navigated his vessel through gentle rain and storms.

But like a weathered sail in an endless sea, His journey encountered a deadened sea. No life stirred there, no breath of wind to flee, Just stagnant waters, and this awful smell of despair. 

The sail needs some fixing,  The captain needs reprieve.  Guided by his first mate, he will sail toward a new beginning. A new sunrise waiting beyond the darkness of now.

Standing on the bow are four hands on deck Reaching for God’s love and inner strength,  To face this storm of unparalleled height. As in the heart of every sailor, is a compass  To steer through storms, reaching calm seas somehow.

I’m here for him until we’re done. A silent guide and a willing echo, I’ll maintain my position as long as he abides. My time will come when he is healed; With the glory of God, I shall succeed!

[Ci]Logans POV

[Ci]On a Stormy Evening, February 14th, 20024. Logan was drinking his anguish away at the local resturants bar.'Another Valentines, alone at the the bar.'The gel in his hair to help it keep shape, feeling greasier than ever. His anoited, stained, white-short sleeved shirt, that he's seemingly had forever in his closet. His leather belt, falling apart, the metal buckle tarnished in some spots.The working jeans he'd gotten a decade or two ago. Worn and torn at the bottom, and at the lower seams, the original fabric fraying.His black working boots he used to wear apart of his suit for the X-Men, the edges worn from him running from decade to decade.The resturant doors open, a small door chime sounding the entrance of someone new. The bartender greets the newcomer in a cheerful tone, Logan looks up from his liquor at the new person.

[C]He blinks a few times, making sure he understands what he's seeing. She's decked head to toe in sparkly,shiny shades of pinks, reds and coral. Logan scoffs at the exagerrated colors and accesories. Big fluffy legwarmers cover her leg below her knee, the pattern a faux cheetah or faux leopard, Logan can't tell the difference. A jean mini skirt with faux fur lacing the bottom rests on her waist, being held up with a bedazzled gold and pink belt, the buckle in the shape of a heart. Her camisole stickign to her torso, due to the Rain and Humidity outside. The pink lace attached sticking to her torso aswell. He looked her up and down,contiuing to drown himself in his liquor. The amber colors swishing around in the bottle, the warm light in the bar casting a soft glow onto the bottle. Logan listens into the sounds of the bar, sports games, conversations between lovers. The most interesting being the conversation only four feet away.

[C]Katharine's POV

[C]I turn back to my friend, the bartender, Caelan. I lean in to talk with them, as they mix my drink, a small strawberry Daiquiri. My eyes glance over to the man with muttonchop facial hair. Caelan sees my glances, and offers me a smirk. They mumur quietly, low enough for only I to hear. "You got the hots for him?" I slowly nod and their smirk grows wider. I fiddle with my dangly earrings, accidentally flicking my wrist. Small flowers shoot out across the counter, shades of pinks and yellows.

[C]Logans POV

[C]I take a long sip of the bottle of whiskey that Caelan gave me to soothe the Ache of Valentines Day. As my head is thrown back with the whiskey, I hear some fluttering come from my left, placing the bottle down with a small thump. My head turns to the left, my eyes trailing down the bar to the flowery woman a bit away from me, and an eyebrow raised.

[C]Katharines POV

[C]After the small flowers bloom, we make eye contact. "You're a mutant, right Bub?" He says, to me standing up and walking over. Sitting right next to me. I blink a few times, nodding after I snap out of the haze that is his voice. "Yeah, yeah." I say more calmly the second time, gaining some mental embarrassment from that. He nods, and I keep eye contact with him. My eyes travel down his face, the sun damage on his face, the tired bags under his eyes drawl me in. I look at him again "My names Katharine, by the way." He nods again "Logan."

[C]My eyes fall on his knuckles, three tiny spikes in between each knuckle, on both of his worn hands. "Admanitum." He motions with his eyes as his claws come out. My eyes sparkle with interest, and some natural concern as I see some bleeding on the claws. I yank a few napkins from Caelans pocket, as they look at me amused then shocked. I offer them to him by sliding them over. "Thanks, Bub." He mumbles, and I nod.

[C]"Come- come here often?" I chuckle out, stumbling over my words. "Sorry, I'm not the best at meeting new people." He shakes his head "It's fine." I have a closed mouth smile for him when I look back at him, he has a closed mouth smile for me as well. The song Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbinson comes on. I stand up and ask him "I'd like to dance with you, if you'd like, of course." He nods briskly, taking my hand in his as he walks to the wooden pit, and I follow.

[C]Logan's POV

[C]My mind flashes when I saw her talking to her friend earlier. The way her eyes were lit up, talking about who knows what. I think I'd like her to light up like that when she sees me.

[C]"Pretty woman, yeah, yeah, yeah

[C]Pretty woman, look my way

[C]Pretty woman, say you'll stay with me"

[C]I hold her waist with my left hand, taking care to not accidentally shoot my claws into her side, even if she regenerates. One of her hands is intertwined with mine as we dance. My dogtags swing as we turn rapidly to the song. Her eyes sparkle, only on my own. Her smile shines in the dim restaurant. What would she look wearing that smile and my dogtags?

[C]"'Cause I need you, I'll treat you right

[C]Come with me, baby, be mine tonight"

[C]The song slowly comes to its end.

[C]"I guess I'll go on home, it's late

[C]There'll be tomorrow night, but wait

[C]What do I see?

Is she walkin' back to me?

Logan's eyes sparkle, a gentle smile on his lips as he looks at me while we dance. I squeeze his hand as the song ends. Our dance slows, and we step up off the wooden pit.

[C]He looks to me first, and I look back "Let me take you home, Bub." I nod, and he grabs his jacket as we walk out of the restaurant. I see Caelan raising their eyebrows and leaning over the counter, a prominent smirk on their face as we walk out. I shake my head at them, and Logan chuckles as he sees me shake my head

[C]Logans POV

[C]I shake my head at her antics and her friend, wingman I suppose.

[C]It takes about 10 minutes walking back to her apartment, a small cozy thing in a family neighborhood.

[C]We stop at her door, and she looks up at me and smiles, her teeth showing.

[C]"Thank you for walking me home, that was very kind of you." I smile back at her "Anytime. Have a good night."

[C]I turn around to leave, heading for the stairs.

Thankfully I gave her friend a napkin of my number, just in case.

[Cb]But to my surprise...

[C]Katharines POV

[C]"Logan, wait.."

[C]I reach out for him, and he turns around mid step and tilts his head to the right at me.

[C]I walk forward, a feeling of bravery coming over me, and I wrap my arms around his neck. Kissing him dead on the lips.

[C]And...

[C]He returns it.

[Ci]"I'm hooked on a feeling

#7 Evolution of sounds

It was a song that was delicated to Ryuichi Sakamoto, My scene back then could be described it as “funeral music” I feel nowadays all the music perceived are happy, upper mood music, when has music loose the ability to make us grief.

Also inspired by this artist Maria W horn, She performed at a Church on Rewire 20024 in Hague.

I start the Pulsar from Soma as the Drone machine. Then I could add few layers of different elements within. This was inspired by Sun o)), a noise group.

The elements are channeled into a Drone live set. Pulsar 23 has insane sonic capacity to be a drone machine. It does not sound like software made sounds. It has Power, Intimidation, for me it sounded like ancient chants. I experimented many times to find the feel right feeling of the Drone, because for Ddrone, you need to feel it.

Watching Dune 2, it gave some influence on this project. Dune 2 soundtracks, how Hanz Zimmer Chanel that ancient Sounds was much I was looking for at first. 

The rhythm. Not just drone ambient or techno, but rhythm.  Rhythm with Power and resilience, that's where the Hiphop-like but organic drum beat comes in.

I wrote this down, then I tried a few 4-5 different versions of how this should sound like. One track is more ambient, drum pattern is more idm- lile. And the Third version is more metal drone lile, like SUN O))... I share all of these tracks with my friends, saying it is another artist's work, I hope to get the most honest feedback from them without considering, oh this is Yunsong's work, he is my friend, I shouldn't give too critical feedback. 

All of these process pushes me to challenge myself more and more.

Me: Bought 2 MALM two drawer nightstands for $30 on Kijiji sold them for $70. 

I offered the IKEA Malm two drawer dresser for either $40 each or 2 for $70. I had to price this item around Facebook marketplace’s highest reasonable price, but not at par or higher than IKEA’s price. This is because I have a competitive price with other Facebook Marketplace sellers while still making a profit, and I can’t charge the same or more than IKEA for their used item. The Structube two drawer nightstand is a good contrast here to show that, although small, two drawer nightstand can be expensive. The EMMA is a mid-range model for Structube, whose nightstands can run as high as $350 (Structube, 2021b).

I'm at the age of buying a first car, and was just wondering what would suit me... Currently, I drive an automatic Kia Sedona(Automatic) along with a Toyota Tacoma (Manual). Auto Insurance & Road Service Question?

Hi there, Thank you in advance for helping out! I want to know your advice and recommendation on which company to receive my auto insurance/road service from, and what sort of coverage is recommended. I have been with AAA my whole life because my father advocates highly for them so I have trusted his judgment and experience. But I think they may be ripping me off. I am a 27 year old single female with a good driving record (last accident was back in spring 2005 I believe). Yet, every single year they seem to increase my monthly payment by ~$10 and now I'm paying $118.25/month! Are they that superior a company that it is worth paying this and should I try to negotiate with them, or is it worth looking into some other companies such as Geico, State Farm, Progressive, etc. Ive been receiving invites from them for years and Liberty Mutual supposedly has some college alumni offer for me and claim to be ~$340 cheaper than 21st Century, Allstate, and Mercurybut I never trust ads anymore. I only believe concrete statistical comparison data. Also, my dad said road service is completely separate from auto insurance (although AAA handles both) and I pay $52/year to be part of his joint plan as a AAA Plus Dues - Associate. He said he believes this covers 6 visits/year, 100 miles, is the most basic plan, and he only got it because hes been with AAA for 30 years. Could I get a better deal elsewhere or is this fair enough to stick with? At the end of the day, I want decent coverage for the best price available. Scuba Diving in Costa Rica: The Bats and the Cats

I’ve been itching for a Costa Rican stamp in my passport for a long time. Travelers and environmentalists universally laud this eco-conscious country for its pristine natural environment, and rightly so. Just over 26 percent of the nation’s land is protected in some form. There are 28 national parks, 58 wildlife refuges, 32 protected zones, 15 wetland areas/mangroves, 11 forest reserves and eight biological reserves.

These protected areas feature an almost mind-boggling biodiversity. There are 10,000 species of plants and trees, 850 indigenous and migrant birds, 205 species of mammals, over 35,000 species of insects, 160 species of amphibians, 220 species of reptiles, and around 1,013 species of fresh and saltwater fish. But as impressive as the topside temptations were, my dive buddy Mario and I were there to check out the treasures awaiting underwater. Our introduction to scuba diving in Costa Rica was waiting just offshore in Playas del Coco, Guanacaste.

Scuba Diving in Costa Rica

“We came on vacation,” said Brenda van Gestel, owner of Rich Coast Diving on Playas del Coco’s main street. “Our first dive was Bat Islands and we had 16 bull sharks. We never left.”

Two of the area’s biggest draws are seasonal, she tells me: bull sharks (as mentioned), and manta rays. The seasons are opposite, however. Manta rays visit cleaning stations at the Catalina Islands from November to May, and bull sharks visit the Islas Murcielagos (Bat Islands) from May to November. Local dive operators refer to the pair as “the Bats and the Cats,” and we were there in prime time to see the bulls at the Bats.

But first, we spent two fantastic days in the capable hands of van Gestel’s staff at Rich Coast. It just so happened that our first dive day was also PADI Women’s Dive Day. We took the opportunity to get our feet wet (so to speak) at some on-shore dive sites. The shop regularly visits around 14 sites, not including the ones at Catalina Island and the Bat Islands. We splashed in first at Tortugas. Immediately, we saw golden spotted eels, whitetip sharks, schooling snappers, and more pufferfish than I’ve ever seen on every cumulative dive, let alone on one dive. Our second dive at Corridas, another onshore site. Here we spotted some of the biggest stingrays I’ve ever seen, yet more pufferfish (if anyone knows what they’re all doing, please let me know), and a busy octopus engaged in a home renovation project under a rocky ledge.

Although it was off-season, we spent our second day with Rich Coast out at Catalina Island, hoping against hope that we’d spot some seasonally-challenged manta rays. It takes about an hour to get out there, and though we didn’t get lucky when it came to mantas, we did have spectacular visibility, whitetip sharks, free-swimming eels, giant schools of jacks and grunts, and a few more busy octopuses. So, we considered it a win. Back at the shop, I marveled at the diversity we’ve seen so far with van Gestel.

“We have a little of everything,” she said. “It’s always a surprise. That’s what makes the diving so great here.”

The Big Scare

For our third and fourth dive days, we moved over to Deep Blue Diving, up the road and around the corner from Rich Coast. German owner Oliver Blomeke tells a similar story to van Gestel’s, “We came back six times on vacation,” he says. “On the seventh time, we bought a boat and a few tanks and stayed.”

We met the other divers and small crew on the beach at 7 a.m. After introductions, we hopped onboard the boat for the hour-long ride out to the Bat Islands, a national park and seasonal home to what we hoped would be the main event: diving with bull sharks. Although we’d heard that dive boats hadn’t had much luck in the last few weeks, we were hopeful. We dropped into the water and settled in at around 70 feet over the rocky substrate. There was a slight surge, rocking us back and forth as we waited — but not for long.

Five divers, including the guide, spread out over an area of about 150 square feet, much like manning the corners of a perimeter. Each of us looked in different directions, squinting into the hazy near-distance and hoping an outline would appear. When it did, after only two or three minutes, it was just a hint of a suggestion, a big, moving silhouette in the murky water. We excitedly motioned to each other and I squealed into my regulator with delight: jackpot, the bull sharks had arrived.

The sharks remained just on the edge of our sight line for a time, right where the water began to get murky. They circled around us, clearly curious, but only once did one come closer than 20 feet or so.

They were traveling at least in pairs; we saw five or six, including one pregnant female. These are no lithe underwater torpedoes like blue sharks — bulls are like underwater tanks: beefy, burly animals, with big, broad faces and thick, wide bodies. Our visitors were at least eight feet long — far bigger than me, and far bigger than a typical reef shark.

One shark, just teasing us on the edge of our vision, suddenly made a quick turn and came right at me, swerving just to my left and coming within a few feet. My heart leapt into my chest, and I was equal parts thrilled and terrified. The Big Scare did not disappoint.

Our second site of the day, Black Rock, was just as impressive for different reasons. With just a bit of rock poking out above water, this half-moon shaped underwater bowl shelters all manner of marine life in its embrace, hiding from the current and surge just on the other side of the rock. We dropped in to about 80 feet again and a school of striped snappers surrounded us immediately. Because all the marine life congregates in such a confined area, we saw huge schools of fish. We saw octopus, stingrays, and a fleet of at least eight eagle rays. Often skittish at other dive sites, here the rays lazily circled us time and again, allowing us to come almost within arm’s length before winging away. For sheer diversity, Black Rock was impossible to beat.

Topside in Guanacaste

When most people dream of Costa Rica, they picture a landscape of impossibly green volcanic slopes, covered in rainforest and alive with birdsong and chirping frogs. With that in mind, we couldn’t leave without seeing Arenal National Park, the most famous of the country’s five active volcanoes. It rises like a giant emerald parking cone out of the surrounding landscape, its peak often encircled in clouds. To get a better view, we took the tram up at Sky Adventures. We took our time walking down through cool, green rainforest, stopping along the way to spot a yellow-eared toucanet — our guide Henry’s first-ever sighting. Although we tried later that day to visit Arenal itself, the weather had other plans and a torrential downpour shooed us back to the van.

On my last day in Costa Rica (sniff) and with some time to kill, Henry and I visited Hacienda El Viejo. This former sugarcane plantation is now a private wildlife refuge and historical park. We spent a leisurely hour wildlife spotting via a guided boat tour on the Tempisque River. Afterward, lunch was served in the breezy former plantation house — my last casado, or traditional Costa Rican meal of rice, beans, white cheese and salad. Afterward, we headed down to the old farmhouse for a cane-sugar making demonstration, courtesy of the resident ox, who grinds the cane into sweet, unrefined juice. Finally, we tried our hands at tortilla making — Henry swore I was a natural.

On the way to the airport, I thought how our time in Costa Rica sped by far too quickly. There’s so much left yet to discover in the land of Pura Vida. I’ve no doubt we’ll be back, though — there’s plenty of room in that passport for a second Costa Rican stamp.

Getting There

The Daniel Oduber Quiros Airport in Liberia added a sparkling new terminal in 2012 and welcomes numerous international flights. The airport is about a 30-minute drive to Playa Hermosa or Playas del Coco; you can arrange transportation with your hotel.

Where to Stay

In Guanacaste, we stayed at the cozy Villa del Sueno. At this tidy property, lush gardens give the entire the feeling of a hidden oasis. Modern hotel rooms surround a small courtyard pool and across the road is an even larger pool. Rooms here range from junior suites to two-bedroom suites, although they’ve not been updated. There’s a good restaurant and bar onsite as well.

In Arenal we stayed at Lavas Tacotal, in the shadow of Arenal. The brightly landscaped grounds feature a smattering of private cottages as well as comfortable, simple hotel rooms that face a lush field of sugarcane.

Where to Eat

There are a few good spots in and around Playas del Coco. Tucked into a little strip of shops and restaurants off the beach is Kaixo. This small restaurant and art showroom offers a great breakfast menu and ever-changing variety of tapas for lunch and dinner. Vegetarians and vegans have lots of options like stuffed peppers with vegetables and daily croquettes.

A bit further south in Ocotal is Father Rooster, a beachfront restaurant with a can’t-beat location for sunset. Settle into one of the tables scattered on the sand and order a drink for the show. Settle in and watch the sun set dramatically on the Gulf of Papagayo between the land and a rocky outcropping. After cocktails, there are a variety of tasty burgers, wraps, salads, tacos and ceviche for dinner.
